This pack includes 46 individual titles, with multiple release versions and languages for each title. The games included are dictated by the games supported by DREAMM. What is DREAMM? I encourage you to visit the emulator's website here: https://aarongiles.com/dreamm/ However, the direct explanation from the author, Aaron Giles, is "DREAMM is a bespoke emulator for LucasArts games, including: * classic adventure games (Maniac Mansion, Monkey Island, etc) * the early 3D adventure games (Grim Fandango, Escape from Monkey Island) * mid-90s Star Wars titles (Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series, X-Wing series, Rebel Assault series) * mid-90s Indiana Jones titles (Desktop Adventures, Infernal Machine) * other miscellaneous games (Afterlife, Mortimer and the Riddles of the Medallion, Outlaws)" As you can see, DREAMM covers multiple eras and operating systems, however it does focus on DOS & Windows, with an exception for FM Towns support. Other platforms are not supported at this time. A Complete list of included games can be found at the bottom of this text file. ------------------------------------------------------- DREAMM vs ScummVM Sec02 ------------------------------------------------------- This is going to be asked a lot. I recoomend reading this blog on the topic: https://aarongiles.com/dreamm/docs/v30/#faq-scummvm The reality is, ScummVM reverse engineers games while DREAMM runs them within their native environment via low level emulation. With some games, there is little to no detectable difference. With others, there is one. DREAMM also supports multiple games that ScummVM is not compatible with. ------------------------------------------------------- DREAMM vs DOSBox Sec03 ------------------------------------------------------- Also covered on this page in detail: https://aarongiles.com/dreamm/docs/v30/#faq-scummvm DOSBox emulates an operating system and the underlying hardware via a fairly complex configuration file. While the underlying mechanics are similar, DREAMM is optimized to a small set of games. It automates the installation of these files as well as their configuration. DREAMM also emulates a Windows environment (and an FM Towsn layer). ------------------------------------------------------- Changes Sec04 ------------------------------------------------------- Several games have been added. These includes: Battlehawks 1942 (1988) Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis - The Action Game (1992) Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - The Action Game (1989) Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1989) Masterblazer (1990) Night Shift (1990) PHM Pegasus (1988) Pipe Dream (1989) Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe (1991) Star Wars Screen Entertainment (1994) Star Wars Chess (1993) Strike Fleet (1988) Super Star Wars (Prototype) Their Finest Hour - Battle of Britain (1989) ------------------------------------------------------- Front-End Sec05 ------------------------------------------------------- The front end used is LaunchBox from Unbroken Software. The front ends website can be found at: https://www.launchbox-app.com/ LaunchBox goes way beyond a standard frontend by supporting direct steam library imports, a cloud games database for scraping metadata, and support for every emulator I have thrown at it. I highly recommend supporting their project and upgrading to the premium edition. ------------------------------------------------------- Setup Sec06 ------------------------------------------------------- Run "Setup eXoDREAMM.BAT". The setup file will check for required files and warn you if any are missing. The eXoDREAMM collection can be run from any directory, as all launch files are designed to use relative paths to each other. Running the "Setup eXoDREAMM.BAT" file will extract all of the LaunchBox assets and the games front end assets/configs. It will also give you the opportunity to customize your set. You will also be prompted as to if you would like your global defaults to be Fullscreen or Windowed and whether or not you would like to default to Aspect Ratio On or Off. Once it is complete, simply run LaunchBox.exe to dive right in. ------------------------------------------------------- Emulators Sec07 ------------------------------------------------------- This collection only uses DREAMM. It resides in it's folder at: \eXo\emulators\DREAMM Multiple versions of DREAMM *may* be included depending on the need for features from various versions. The DREAMM.TXT file in thUTIL folder determines which version of DREAMM each game will launch with. ------------------------------------------------------- Playing the Games Sec08 ------------------------------------------------------- After downloading the collection and running "Setup eXoDREAMM.BAT", simply run the LaunchBox.exe file. You will be presented with a list of all included games. The first time you attempt to run a game it will ask if you want to install it. Subsequent runs will directly launch the game. Initial install may take some time depending on the size. During install you will be prompted to choose whether or not you would like to change the global settings. This includes aspect ratio and windowed vs fullscreen. If you run the install file a second time, it will ask if you would like to un-install the game. Choosing "yes" will erase the installed files from your disk. DREAMM keeps a copy of all of your settings in it's GAMEDATA folder, so these will not be lost. To uninstall or reconfigure a game within LaunchBoc, you can right click the game and select 'Configure'. ------------------------------------------------------- Keys & Shortcuts Sec09 ------------------------------------------------------- The following keyboard shortcuts are helpful when running DREAMM: ALT U or F12 In Game Menu Notes ALT ENTER Toggle Fullscreen \ Window ALT + Increase Window Size Also increases visible play area size in Fullscreen ALT - Decrease Window Size Also decreases visible play area size in Fullscreen ALT 1 Inserts Disk 1 Only used for games with multiple discs ALT 2 Inserts Disk 2 ALT S Toggle Smooth Graphics Enables epx smoothing ALT A Toggle Aspect Ratio Correction Switches between 4:3 or RAW output ALT I Toggle Integral Video Scaling Similar to "pixel perfect" ALT BACKSPACE Take Screenshot Found in emulators folder ALT O Shortcut to Options Menu ALT V Shortcut to Volume Menu ALT X Exit Game ------------------------------------------------------- Sound & Video Options Sec10 ------------------------------------------------------- From the in game menu (ALT U or F12) you can change a games sound and video settings.
