^C^1BIG BLUE DISK KEYBOARD UTILITIES
^Cby
^CGeorge Leritte

For most of us, the hours we spend with our PCs are beset with minor
irritations. Some programs, for example, can handle only upper case input. As
a result, they force all input into upper case. Of course, this is all well and
good -- until the user exits the program. Keyboard input often remains in upper
case mode, no matter whether the CapsLock key is on or off.

While this isn't an earth shattering problem, it is irksome nonetheless.
Also, the problem crops up more than you might expect: many commercial programs
as well as many BASIC programs you find in magazines like COMPUTE! leave the
keyboard in upper case mode.

Fortunately, George's utilities (UNLOCK, CAPLOCK, and NUMLOCK) provide a
quick and easy solution to keyboard problems like these. If a program leaves
the keyboard in upper case mode or the number lock feature activated, enter
UNLOCK at the DOS prompt to allow both upper and lower case input. CAPLOCK, on
the other hand, forces the computer into upper case mode: it doesn't matter if
the CapsLock key is activated or not. Finally, NUMLOCK turns NumLock on,
whether the keyboard indicator is on or off.
