^C^1STREETS AND ALLEYS

|CStreets and Alleys^N solitaire gets its name from the way the cards are laid out
into eight rows, or "alleys." All 52 cards are turned face up in these alleys
when the game begins; there are four alleys of seven cards on the left side of
the screen, four alleys of six cards on the right side. The object of the
game is to play cards from the alleys onto four foundation piles in the center
of the screen -- the column of foundation cards is the "street" which
separates the alleys.

A foundation pile contains cards of a particular suit. A pile is "built up"
from the bottom; an ace is the first card played onto a foundation pile,
followed by a deuce, and so on. There is a catch, however. Only cards on the
outermost edges of the alleys may be played. (Innermost cards cannot be
played.) Fortunately, outermost cards may also be played onto the outermost
cards of other alleys. Thus the cards in the alleys may be rearranged to
expose cards to play onto the foundation piles. To learn how to manipulate
the cards in Dan's |E~1Streets and Alleys^N, consult the instructions included with
the program itself.
