^C^1MEMO WRITER

^C(based on an idea by Dr. A. D. Hensley)

If you write anything at all on the job, you write your share of memos. And if
you don't write memos, you probably should: memos are a perfect way to request
information, express complaints, or communicate your ideas.

|E~1Memo Writer^N is a simple word processor that automatically formats input into
memos. After you create a memo, you can save it to disk, edit it if needed,
and make a printout.

USING MEMO WRITER
-----------------

When you run |E~1Memo Writer^N, the program displays the title of the memo currently
in memory as well as seven options.

OPTIONS
-------

1. Write A Memo. Use this option to compose a memo. Enter the date, the
person addressed, the name of the writer, and the subject of the memo, then
type the body of the memo.

Note that |E~1Memo Writer^N has no "word-wrap" function. You must manually add
carriage returns to begin new lines. (The cursor stops at the end of each
line.)

Also note that once you move the cursor off of a line, you cannot return to
that line to edit it. Return to the "Edit Memo" option to edit the line
appearing above the cursor.

2. Save Memo. When you have exited Option 1, you return to the main menu. To
save the memo to disk, choose Option 2. You will be prompted to enter a
filename for the memo.

If the new filename is identical to one already on the disk, the old file will
be overwritten. Pressing the "=" key displays a directory of the disk
currently in the drive.

3. Load Memo. To load a memo, enter its filename. Press the "=" key to
display the disk directory.

4. Edit Memo. If you want to make changes, load the memo into memory and
choose this option. After editing, use Option 2 to save the new version.

5. Print Memo. This option makes a printout of the memo.

Note: Some memos require signatures; others don't. The program will ask you
if it should append your name and title to the memo. The program gets this
information from what you have entered in the "Change Signature" option
discussed below.

6. Change Signature. This option creates a special file on the disk that
contains your name and title. This is the file that the Print Option accesses
if you choose to append your name and title to the printout. If you need to
change this information, you can use this option to do so at any time.

7. Quit. This option returns to |9~3Big Blue Disk^N.
