===Decay (Part I) Walkthrough=== by: Jason Tandro =How To Use This Walkthrough= This walkthrough allows to choose what style of walktrhough you want. If you want just a basic checklist to help you get through the game as easily as possible, I can give you that. And if you want a walkthrough that provides you with some hints before giving you the outright answer, I can provide that as well. The Hint's Walkthrough is first, solutions to the hints are in the middle and the checklist walktrhough is at the very end. =Credit= Obviously I owe a great deal of credit to Shining Gate Software for making this awesome game series. I also want to shout out to horror_spooky whose guide helped me figure out how to use the remote (of course, of all the things in the game one of the simpler puzzles is the one that stumped me!) I will also offer credit to some youtubers who helped me with Parts 2-4 of this game when I make my walkthroughs for that, but I actually didn't need that much help with one. But for those of you who do, I hope you enjoy. ==Hint Walkthrough== This walkthrough is broken into areas and will have several layers of hints to try and help you figure out each puzzle on your own. A good choice for if you really have no clue what to do, but don't want all the answers given away. If you really get stumped, the bottom of this walkthrough has SOLUTIONS for each question. Also Note, it's broken into areas, not necessarily chronology. The areas are (in this order) The Bathroom, Martin Wallace's Apartment, The Apartment Complex (which includes closet and upside-down apt) and Mr. O. White's Apartment. Good luck! /The Bathroom/ How do I get out? 1. I take it you're not a fan of the "Escape" series... 2. Are you new to point-and-click? Examine everything! 3. Have you tried the door? 4. Hanging around has probably hurt your complexion. You should check yourself out in the mirror. 5. The sink and the mirror are separate areas, even though they are close. /Martin Wallace's Apartment/ What do I do with the Remote? 1. Well you probably know what you usually do with a remote... 2. This will help you with another problem. What's important about what is on the TV? 1. What's not to love about the ninja throwing up "Rock on" signs? 2. Don't their hands seem oddly placed? 3. Information is rarely useless in these kinds of games. 4. You may not have seen the place this information will be useful. 5. Backtracking isn't always pointless. /The Apartment Complex/ Can I get past the barricaded door? 1. Have you tried really really hard? 2. What items do you have that might help? 3. Have you been to all the other apartments yet? 4. You might try coming back later... 5. The green light is pretty cool. How do I get into Mr. O. White's Apartment? 1. Have you tried knocking? 2. It's rude to go somewhere without being invited. 3. Sometimes you have to handle these problems one at a time. 4. Well you're not going to be able to force your way in. 5. Have you been to the other apartments? How do I get into the closet? 1. It sure is making a weird noise... 2. Are you sure you want to go in there? 3. 3-digit padlock. Why does that seem significant? 4. Have you seen three numbers before? 5. Maybe you should go sit in your apartment and try to figure this out. What is there to do in the upside-down apartment? 1. Examine, examine, examine. 2. It's kinda bright in here huh? 3. You can't reach anything except what's on the floor, or I guess ceiling, but that might change. 4. Blinded by the light... 5. You'll be here twice. I'm in the closet. Now what? 1. Pretty dark in here. 2. Don't you have something to light the place up with? 3. There's no switch anywhere. 4. Have you been in O. White's Apartment yet? 5. So you can see now... but can you examine? I got the thing in the closet. What do I do with it? 1. I'd say prepare the confetti. 2. A toast to the end of a well-rounded game? 3. Say, after seeing that thing you probably need to clean yourself up right? 4. Did you notice something that seemed to be missing a handle? 5. Maybe it's time to backtrack a bit. /Mr. O. White's Apartment/ What do I do with the picture frames? 1. Well I'll be, I think you can move them. 2. The colors of the background are irrelevant. 3. Those painting look almost life-like. 4. Jeez, these paintings could sure stand to be leveled... or are the heights intentional? 5. Do those shadows look funny to you? Can I move the other picture frame? 1. You mean the one over the table? 2. You can try. 3. Doesn't seem too cooperative does he? Maybe he's lonely? 4. You wanna play a game? 5. Heads will roll... How do I beat him? 1. It's Tic-Tac-Toe 2. Nobody ever truly wins. 3. Don't the instructions say “defend yourself”? 4. Play it cool. 5. It's just another game. What do I do with the flashlight? 1. I'm sure there's somewhere you need it. 2. Maybe the flashlight needs something else. 3. Didn't that picture frame turn upside-down? 4. When did you last feel like something was just out of reach? 5. Well you can't take batteries out of the remote, so don't try. ===SOLUTIONS=== /The Bathroom/ How do I get out? Go to the mirror and get the tweezers, then go to the sink and get the rusty key. Use the tweezers on the door's keyhole and then the key on the keyhole. /Martin Wallace's Apartment/ What do I do with the Remote? You will need to use the remote to turn the TV on. The channel can be found on the back of the picture frame that you find on the nearby bookshelf. Go to the TV, examine the TV then use the remote. Then enter the channel number. What is the picture frame for? Go into the inventory and examine the back. The channel number provided is the channel to use on the remote. What's important about what is on the TV? The fingers are codes numbers: 5-2-2. You will use this later on. /Apartment Complex/ Can I get past the barricaded door? No. How do I get into Mr. O. White's Apartment? You will not be able to get in until you have been into the upside-down apartment and picked up the note. How do I get into the closet? You will need to enter the passcode which can be found on the television channel. Observe the fingers of the characters. What is there to do in the upside-down apartment? On your first time around, grab the note. It may be hidden in the beam of light from the window, but will be on the floor. On your second time around, when the apartment is righted, grab the battery. I'm in the closet. Now what? You'll need the flashlight with the battery. Combine the two in your inventory and then turn it on while in the closet. Examine the doll and move it to get the pliers. I got the thing in the closet. What do I do with it? Return to the bathroom where you started the game, examine the bathtub and then the faucet. Use the pliers on the missing handle and the faucet will fill with water. Examine the water and dive in. Congrats! /Mr. O. White's Apartment/ What do I do with the picture frames? You must organize them according to height. In order from left to right: Woman, man, baby, young boy. Can I move the other picture frame? Not until he is upside-down. You must first solve the other picture frame puzzle and then examine the table. Complete the challenge three times in a row. How do I beat him? You're not trying to win. You just have to prevent the opponent from winning. In fact, winning resulted in a loss for my friend when she played. Just keep control of the board and don't let him win. Here's some tips. 1. If opponent starts on middle of row or column (except the very middle), place one piece in an adjacent corner, then with your next move take the middle if possible. Then simply prevent him from taking a full row. 2. If he start in the middle, don't go to a corner instinctively but take one of the other middle pieces. After that, block him wherever he goes (if you take a corner, he'll simply take two opposite corners and result in an impossible win scenario. Taking a middle piece early on usually helps prevent this) 3. He's hardest to beat when he starts on a corner. Take control of any corner except the opposite corner he starts in and, if possible, the middle, and pray for the best. What do I do with the flashlight? Take the battery from the upside-down apartment (which turns right-side up after beating the game in O. White's Apartment.) In the inventory combine it with the flashlight. You can now use this wherever it's dark. ==Checklist Walkthrough== This walkthrough is short and sweet and will tell you everything you need to do. Bathroom 1. Turn around 2. Look at mirror. 3.
