Contact Info [contactx] --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- + I. Introduction [introx] --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello and welcome to my Viva Pinata Variant Guide! This is my first FAQ/Guide so hopefully I will do a decent job. I would appreciate any feedback or contributions relevant to the theme of the guide. While some of this information has been spread around in various places I felt it wasn't consolidated and complete in its current forms, and thus my motivation to put this together. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- + II. Purpose [purposex] --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The purpose of this guide is to outline each Pinata species, and provide that species' variants along with the materials required to produce that variant. Each pinata has its basic form that you acquire when it first becomes a resident or you buy it from Gretchen. Aside from this basic form, most pinatas have three color variations although there are a few exceptions. Acquiring a new variant for your pinata is simply a matter of feeding it different items available in your garden although some are a combination of a few items. If you already know which Pinata you are searching for, you can use the [Quick Search] function of your browser or word processor to jump to it. Simply use the format of [pinatanamex]. For example, if you wanted to jump to Galagoogoo variants, just type in "galagoogoox" in the quick search field. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- + III. Variant Materials [materialsx] --------------------------------------------------------------------------- As I described earlier, acquiring new variants is simply a matter of feeding your Pinata different things available in your garden or some combination of these things. It should be noted that there is a difference between each plant's type of seed and its produce/flowerhead. Some Pinata will require a Bluebell seed where others might need a Bluebell flowerhead. It is important to keep this in mind because it is easy to overlook that distinction sometimes. Sometimes pinata are not the most cooperative of creatures-- if your pinata doesn't want to eat the materials required for a specific variant, worry not, just be persistent! Sometimes pinatas will snub their noses to certain materials even though deep down they really want them to unlock their colorful counterparts. Just be patient and continue to direct your pinata to the required material until you are successful. Below is a comprehensive list of the materials required for Pinata variation. There are three categories of materials: Seeds, Produce, and Tinkered Items. Seeds obviously covers any seed in the game. Produce accounts for fruits and vegetables produced from mature trees or bushes and Flowers. Tinkered items covers items that are produced by using Bart's Transformation service. You can hire Bart by going to Town and selecting him [he looks like a scarecrow] and selecting the items you would like him to transform. Generally, it is best to select the Gold quality transformation as it has the highest success rate and isn't that much more expensive. If a pinata requires multiple items, that information will ONLY be listed under the respective pinata; however these items have been denoted with an * to identify that they are part of a multi-item variation. Again, * denotes items used in multiple item variations. Just because an item isn't required to make a variant by itself, does NOT mean it is not used in a multi-item combination. +Seeds --------------------------------------------------------------------------- All seeds can be bought from Costalot's Store or obtained from Seedos, although with the latter it is random on what seed he will give you. The only exception to this is the Gem seed which can be bought from Ivor. Variant Achievements [achievementsx] --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Viva Pinata is full of various achievements and two of them are related to variants directly, although in the process of obtaining them you will most likely unlock many of the others. Each of the two variant achievements will add +20 to your Gamerscore. +Variants Achievement: Unlock by making 5 variant pinatas. Just make ANY 5 variants to unlock this. +Variants Master: Unlock by making 20 variant pinatas. These two achievements are extremely easy to get since each Pinata has 3 variants ofits own and most only need 1 item to become a variant. Basically, it requires very little effort compared to some of the others. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- + VI.
