The two options selecting allow you to set the Game Options for each controls, as well as toggle the split screen between horizontal and vertical. Both contain the same selections as the solo Game Options plus the split screen toggle, but Player 1 has two addition options Push Partner and Attack Partner. The co-op missions are indentical to the scoring portion of the six main missions in Story Mode plus the following boss battle for the last five missions. (The portion of the Forgotten Forest inside the Temple is skipped.) The only difference is the presence of warp points, which typically appear at the cutscene trigger locations and respawn points in the mission. When one player crosses one, the only player gets warped there.) The coop pack added the ability to play co-op on Xbox live. The power pack added Expert Coop, Rune Battle, and Time attack to the options available under coop. ------------------ 3.1.3 Leaderboards ------------------ Under Leaderboards you can compare you score and time ranking against all those who have played the game while logged into an Xbox Live profile. ============ 3.2 Controls ============ Left Thumbstick - Move Right Thumbstick - Adjust Camera angle Click Left Thumbstick - Toggle Map (not available for all locales) Click Right Thumbstick - Look around in first person view. It also saves when purchasing upgrades, or assigning and unassigning eyes. If you want to manually save you'll need to use the crystal eye assignment feature, provides you've acquired at least one of them or reassign the elemental using the Wotnot book. ****************************************************************************** 4. Combat ****************************************************************************** ============== 4.1 Techniques ============== You'll need to pull or hold the left and/or right triggers to use the techniques. The combat techniques for each of the Elemental Warriors are found in the Wotnot Book. See the section on Elemental Warrior and Upgrades for a transcript of their entries. Kameo ----- Kameo's techniques are not listed in the Wotnot. Hover: Pull [LT] while Kameo is moving normally to cause Kameo to hover. If Kameo doesn't have solid ground beneath her she will fall. Land: Pull [LT] while Kameo is hovering and she'll start moving normally again. Jump: Pull [RT] to get Kameo to jump. This can be done on the ground or while hovering. Flip Kick: Pull both [LT] and [RT] to get Kameo to do a flip kick. This is Kameo's only offensive move. Horse ----- Press (A) to mount or dismount the Horse. Charge: Pull [LT] or [RT] to charge while riding the horse. Good for mowing down trolls. =========== 4.2 Bonuses =========== Each hit and kill earns points. The higher the bonus multipliers, the more your score for attacks and kills. Whenever you take damage, all of the bonuses will be reduced by 1, to a minimum of 0. The bonus multiplier doesn't seem to affect the score received from killing dragons. Brutal Bonus ------------ Throne Room Painting Note: If an enemy is defeated with a single move, regardless of how much health it has remaining, a Brutal Battle Bonus will be award. Spikes, pits, flames, and grinders are natural obstacles that can be turned to a cunning warrior's advantage to earn Brutal Bonuses. Hurling a troll with Chilla, forcing a troll into spikes or grinders, throwing ice spikes at dragons, using lockjaw on a bit troll, and burning a troll, are some examples of the attacks that increment the brutal bonus. Carnage Bonus ------------- Throne Room Painting Note: Each time a warrior defeats an enemy, they will be rewarded with a Carnage Bonus to increase their Battle Points. Every troll, dragon, or airship killed increments the Carnage Bonus. Frenzy Bonus ------------ Throne Room Painting Note: Frenzy Bonuses are earned by defeating a chain of enemies in quick succession - but if the warrior defeating the enemies pauses too long before their next strike they will not receive a Frenzy bonus. Killing multiple opponent in a very short time frame increase the frenzy bonus by the number killed less one. As an example, Chilla can carry three trolls on his back. If he hurls them all he will get a frenzy bonus of 2. ============== 4.3 Focus Mode ============== Throne Room Painting Note: Only those who are truly skilled in the way of combat will achieve the intense state of being known a 'Warrior Focus'. Time will appear to slow down around someone who has attained this state as they move at superhuman speed, cutting a swathe through their enemies. You enter focus mode by scoring a large number of rapid hits in quick succession, watch the meter at the top as if fills up blue, and then white. Everything slows down in focus mode, with the exception of a special fast moving white troll, that one popup in the game referred to as a Doomed Troll. ****************************************************************************** 5. Walkthrough ****************************************************************************** NOTE: You will not obtain an A ranking for the six missions by using this walkthrough. You'll need to replay the missions at the Mirror in the Chamber of Living Portraits to improve your High Scores by getting and keeping the combat bonus high. =================================== 5.1 Main Mission #1: Thorn's Castle =================================== After the opening cutscene, you'll start the game in the form of Chilla, hanging onto a climbable wall at the base of Thorn's Castle. Climb up the wall, leaping up when the trolls in the foreground fire shots at you. Go left and release onto the ledge there when you reach the top. After another cutscene you'll be switched to Pummel Weed. Two trolls will be attacking you. Use combos of alternating left and right jabs on them. You can also switch to Chilla, grab both trolls, and then aim and hurl them off the ledge. You'll be switch into Major Ruin after defeating the first two trolls. Four trolls appear, you can switch back to Pummel Weed to deal with them jabs, or Chilla by grabbing and hurling. There are three dragons overhead that Chilla can take out by Aiming and throwing ice Spikes. Try not to step into any of the spikes on this ledge while you fight the enemies. You'll notice glowing scrolls as you make your way through the castle. (There's one you may miss on the level below where Chilla begins climbing.) These give you a tutorial on how to control your warriors if you read them. Switch back into Major Ruin. There's a ramp just past where you dropped onto this platform as Chilla. Use Major Ruin's rush technique to get to the top of the ramp and go through the opening there. Roll through the vent to a closed gate. Break the gate using Major Ruin's Rush and you'll drop into a round room. Line up with the arrows on the floor and using Major Ruin's rush to get into another vent. Roll through this vent and drop into another room. There a ramp to the right when facing the brick wall. Use Major Ruin's Rush to go up the ramp and over the wall to its right. Rush through the three spiders in the area on the other side. Use Major Ruins Rush to get over the wall at the other end of the ramp. There are some shells in the distance as you face away from the ramp. A white troll hides under one of them as you approach. Switch to Pommel Weed and use the Creeper technique. Approach the half shell, but back off when the spikes come out. Wait for the spikes to retract and then move up to the shell and use the Uprooter technique to knock off the shell. The white troll is defenseless without the shell so you can use jab to kill it. A troll with shields come out. Switch to Chilla and grab it. Hurl it over the edge. Do the same with the three trolls that follow it. Switch to Major Ruin. Use Rush to jump over the ramp beside where the white troll hid under the shell. Switch to Chilla. There are two trolls and a fire troll over here. Grab them all and hurl them over the edge. If the fire troll set you on fire switch to Major Ruin to minimize the damage. There's a ramp at the right end of the cage alone the stone wall. Use Major Ruin's Rush to jump up the ramp onto the cage. Turn left and use Rush on the ramp to get over a gap. Rush through the spider. The next ramp is on the inner side of this cage at the end where you landed. Line up with the pipe overhead and use Major Ruin's Rush to jump into the pipe. Rush through the spider in the pipe. Switch to Chilla when you land and grab the fire troll that breaks out of the crate. Hull it over the edge. Switch to Major Ruin. Jump up the center of the ramp by the help page here, into a round hole. A Roll Troll will be on the other side. Rush into it to get it to retract into its shell and rush into the shell after lining it up with a ramp to knock it either over the ledge or into the lava pit. Do the same with the batch of three Roll Trolls that get shot out. A red gem will get expose on the gate here. Switch to Chilla, aim and fire a spike at it to open it a crack. While you're here there are two dragons in range to hit. Switch to Creeper and go under the gate. Use uprooter to get back to the surface and switch back to Chilla as you go along the bridge, which will get destroyed behind you. Grab the troll at the other end and hurl it into the distance. Fire an ice spick at the red gem to open the gate here. Use Pummel Weed's Creeper to get under this gate and well. Stay in creeper mode to kill the spiders. Switch to Chilla and grab the first troll you encounter as you go up the slope. Use grab to kill the spider and grab the fire troll. Grab the next troll and hurl all three out the window here. Throw a spike at the red gem to open the gate. Switch to Pummel Weed and use Creeper to get under to gate. Use uprooter on the other side of the gate and switch to Chilla. Throw ice spikes to kill the trolls in the distance. Switch to Major Ruin and move slowly along the bridge. A portion ahead of you will get destroyed. Use rush to jump over the gap once you get close to it. Switch to Chilla when you get to the fiery chasm ahead. Throw Ice Spikes at the chandeliers here to cause them to drop. One of them will land on a troll with a launcher, killing it before it becomes a threat. Switch to Major Ruin and use Rush to get over the gap on the ramp to the left. Switch to Chilla and smash the crate on the way up. Go across the bridge, past a metal crate you can't smash and track down the troll that's hiding behind the crates. Grab it and Hurl it over the lava. Switch to Major Ruin and start rolling up the slope steering around the bombs. Rush through the troll launching them to kill it. Switch to Chilla and throw an Ice spike at the gem over the gate to open it. Switch to Pummel Weed and user Creeper to get under the gate, use uprooter on the spiked shell ahead to knock it over the edge with uprooter to prevent it from being used in the future by white trolls. There are several trolls here, including one fire troll. Grab it first, using Chilla and maybe two of the others. Hurl them over the edge. Make sure to knock the other spiked shell here over the edge before you kill all of the other trolls. You make want to use jab combos on them to enter focus mode so you can fight the fast moving white trolls. You can also grab batches of trolls with Chilla and hurl them over the edge. If you got rid of both shells, the three white trolls that appear will be at your mercy. Dispose of them as you see fit. Otherwise you'll need to deal with the shell like the first one you encountered. Approach the gate as that opened after destroying the white trolls as Chilla. Throw an Ice Spear and the Troll with a launcher over the climbable wall in the distance. There will now be a lot of troll to deal with where you are. Use jab combo with Pummel Weed or grab and hurl with Chilla. After dealing with the horde, switch to Major Ruin. Use rush to jump towards the climbable wall. Switch to Chilla where you get to them but before you hit bottom so that he can grab onto it. Climb up the wall and into the tower. Go to the opening on the other side. Try to pick off the trolls climbing the wall in the distance with ice spikes. Switch to Major Ruin. Use rush to jump through the opening and switch to Chilla to grab the wall. Climb up to the top. Grab the troll and hurl it into the distances. Pick off the white spider on the climbable wall here with a Ice Spike. Climb up the wall, go left part way up, and up again. Go left at the top and release. There a large armored troll with a glass jaw here. If you can pull it out use an ice spike on the chandelier above it to take it out quickly. Otherwise switch to Pummel Weed, dodge the troll's quake attacks, and use uprooter to get it to expose its neck. Use Chilla's ice spikes on its neck to wear down its health. Go up to the crate on behind where the large troll was and grab to two trolls that pop out. Hurl them over the edge before going through the door that opened after killing the big troll. Watch the cutscene. [Thorn's Castle will now be available in Co-Op mode]. ===================================================== 5.2 Obtaining Pummel Weed from the First Shadow Troll ===================================================== ------------------------ 5.2.1 Getting the Wotnot ------------------------ You awaken in the Mystic's Hut in the Enchanted Kingdom. The Warrior Trainer offer to take you to the Badlands. -------------------------------------------------------------- 5.3.2 Sidequest to search for Elixirs, Fruit, Eyes, and Skins --------------------------------------------------------------- Before heading to the Badlands, you'll want to do some exploring in the enchanted kingdom to find items to aid you in your quest. Leave the Mystic's Hut. Note the character to the right by the barren field. He has three question marks over his head indicating that he has a sidequest for you, with will earn a 3 fruit reward. You can't do his yet so carry on down the path. You can go into the Warrior Trainers hut to gain information from the Warrior Trainers assister for 10 runes each. There are five topics and you'll be wanting the runes for other stuff, but you can get some information on the Warrior Trainer, Magic Mirrors, Warp Gates, Crystal Eyes, and Elemental Fruit. *FRUIT #1* Leave the hut. You'll see a large plant to the right of the door. Go up to it and shake it. Grab the Elemental Fruit that falls up. Note the smaller plant with the red top here. You can grab it to throw it into the air. Sometimes this will produce coins or hearts. Return to the path and continue onward past a shrine will Halis' spirit inside. Turn right to the stone path. You'll see the warrior trainer enter the dungeon inside the inner courtyard of the castle. *FRUIT #2* Head south along the path to the southeast corner and go in the hut there. Talk to the blue character in the center of the hut. Pay 10 runes to take his test. The correct answers are 7, 5, 8, 5, 4, and 0. He'll give you an Elemental Fruit as a reward. While you're here open the cabinet and smash the vase to get some runes. Leave the hut. Go up the path to the west of Typhoon's hut to a shrine with Lenya's spirit in the a pool of water. Read the sign here: "#1 - To find my secret hidden sign, investigate an old man's shrine." Go back down the path and turn left. Go past the bridge and turn left towards the beach. Switch to Pummel Weed. If you use creeper and there uprooter on the nearest seashell you'll reveal a crab. *FRUIT #3* Use creeper and uprooter on the second seashell to reveal an elemental fruit. Switch to Kameo and get the fruit. Switch back to Kameo. The third seashell is empty. *Crystal Eye of Restoration* The fourth shell can be flipped over using uprooter to get the first of the crystal eyes. There's a store on the other side of the path from the beach. You can buy from this selection. Giant Heart: 10 Runes Elemental Fruit: 30 runes Elixir of Life: 20 runes Small Money Pouch: holds 200 runes: 50 runes New look for Pummel Weed: 75 runes *FRUIT #4-5* If you have 60 runes you can buy two elemental fruits for this shop. *Elixir #2* If you have 20 runes you can buy an elixir of life from this shop. *SKIN #1* You can buy Pummel Weeds skin from this shop. Read the nearby fruit finder sign to get clues to the fruit locations in the Enchanted Kingdom. Make sure to return here after collection enough money for these items (you can ignore the skin for a while) and the first money pouch upgrade (available at all stores). Rack up coins by smashing crates in the dungeon when you get there. There nothing of interest yet in the throne room and Ancient Tower at the top of the stairs in the center of the nearby bridge, aside from a painting in the Throne Room that will teach you about Warrior Focus Mode, Brutal Battle Bonus, Carnage Battle Bonus, and Frenzy Battle Bonus. Use Pummel Weed's creeper to go under the gate near the shop. Switch back to Kameo. *FRUIT #6* Shake off the fruit near this entrance and pick it up. Go through the door to your right into the Chamber of Living Portraits. *ELIXIR #3* Go ahead, past the statue of Thorn and drink the Elixir in front of the magic mirror. Leave the Chamber. The door on the other side contains only some coins for opening and breaking stuff. Go down the slope, ignore the dungeon entrance for now and go up the slope on the other side. Yeros' shrine is here. There should be a sign on edge above the sloped path that reads "#2 - Gazing on the balcony will guide you to sign number three..." Switch to Pummel Weed and use creeper to leave the courtyard. Go onto the bridge and up the stairs. Go around the balcony at the top to find the sign that reads: "#3 - Your're doing well; the next sign lies near one who'll sell you some supplies." Return to the shop. Read the sign to one side that reads: "#4 - the home of one who sees in time is near my fifth and final sign..." *FRUIT #7* Go to the Mystics Hut. Read the fifth sign there: "#5 - Your brain's as sharp as any sword - take this fruit as your reward!". Shake the fruit off the plant that appear and grab it. ------------------------------------ 5.3.3 First Crossing of the Badlands ------------------------------------ Head back to the dungeon entrance and go inside. The Warrior Trainer will open a portal to the badlands. There not much to do in the dungeons yet, just some crates to smash for coins and some captive trolls to look at. If you've bought at least the elixir and fruit from the store enter the portal. You'll be on the mountain in the center of the Badlands under the Enchanted Kingdom. A knight will tell you the trolls are attacking the Elemental Shrines and will give you a horse. Charge down through the horde of trolls on the east side of the mountain in the direction of the Forgotten Forest. While there a 8 abandoned Huts in the forest, we've want some more Elemental Warriors before investigating them. Ride east, past the shrine, towards the big shrine on the east side of the map. Dismount when the horse shies away and go the rest of the way on foot. --------------------------- 5.3.4 The Forgotten Forest --------------------------- Take the opportunity to do some more exploring for elixir, fruit, and skins before pursuing the shadow troll from the cutscene. *FRUIT #8* Walk ahead a bit and shake the fruit of the plant and get it. You should now have enough fruit to fully upgrade Pummel Weed it you want to. We've be getting two more Warrior in here so you may want to keep some in reserve. *FRUIT #9-11* Follow the path until you get to a hut will a green draping over the door. Switch to Pummel Weed and Enter Dil's Hut. Inside Dil is beginning attacked by trolls. Use left and right jabs on both of them to kill them. Dil will give you a large Elemental Fruit (worth 3) for killing the trolls. *FRUIT #12* Leave the hut and go into the stone circle between the four trees with eyes. Five plant with red tops are on the stone. Grab them to throw them in the air. One of them will produce an Elemental Fruit. *FRUIT #13* Head to the southeast from the four trees. You'll find a quest giver called Creeper here, there's nothing you can do for him at the moment. Go to the other side of his hut, the entrance to which is blocked will a giant rock, and shake the plant there. Grab the elemental fruit the falls off. Note the vine that appear over the entrance to the branch past the hut, you'll be coming back here later to continue the hunt for the second Shadow troll. There's a sign on the other side of the path from Creeper's Hut. Read the text on it: "#1 - More signs are hidden near, now think - where might the locals go to drink? Go back to the glade with the four trees. Head down the path to the north. You'll come out in a larger area. There a shop to the left. Smash the crates to the side of it instead. Shake the plant behind it and grab the fruit that falls of. There path goes north from the shop over a natural stone bridge. Another hut is to the right. This is the Scholar's hut. The only thing of interest in here is some coins. Keep going north to enter the pumpkin cafe. You can smash pumpkins (but not jack-o-lanterns) for coins. In the main area of the pub, you'll find a jukebox on the wall to the left. For 5 runes you can listen to one of a selection of 5 songs: "Feast of Kings", "Precious Memories", "To Distant Lands", "Song of the Sprites", and "The Giant's Travels". Read the sign that should be near the jukebox: "#2 - The stream that is the water's source will lead you to sign three, of course." Make sure to smash the chest at the back of the bar to get the coins inside. Backtrack to the glade with the four trees. Go east and start swimming in the stream. There are two stumps, the northern one should have a sign on it, so swim over to it and jump on it. Read the sign: "#3 - The branch that leads to Mushroom Cave will house my sign inside - be brave." It's time to enter the branch with the vines. Head back to the southeast corner and switch to Pummel Weed. Use Creeper to go under the vines. As you already have enough Fruit for the second warrior make sure to fully Upgrade Pummel Weed if you haven't done so. Go up the path and kill the spiders that you encounter. There respawn indefinitely and don't give you points so keep moving up the path as you do so. Use creeper again to go under the vines at the top of the path. Pummel Weed's Razor Top (if you've bought it) will allow you to safely take care of the spider spawner in the center of this chamber. Once you've destroyed it, use creeper again to go under the other set of vines here to the northwest. Follow the path, killing any spiders that appear to the entrance to the Mushroom Cave. Read the sign outside the entrance: "#4 - A home came under Troll attack - you'll find my next sign 'round back". That refers to Dil's Hut by the glade with the four trees. We'll worry about that after we deal with the Shadow Troll as its a long way back here. Enter the cave. -------------------- 5.3.5 Mushroom Cave -------------------- Watch the scene of the Shadow Troll hiding in the well. Go ahead and down the path into the main cavern. Follow the left wall to the barricade. Just before it is a red and green spiked shell. Use Creeper and then Shredder to pick up the shell. Move into the barricade to destroy it, or use uprooter to throw the shell beside the barricade and wait for it to blow up from a safe distance. Enter the well on the other side. ------------------------- 5.3.6 Second Shadow Troll ------------------------- Treat this battle like the first shadow troll. Wait for the Lost Souls to appear and use a flip kick to get one to release its light energy. Go through the light energy to arm yourself with it. Fire the energy at the shadow troll. It the shell hit it will cause Mawood to shake down a lot of trolls. Switch to Rubble, from the end of the grass, chip a rock into Mawood's mouth to damage him. It takes five shots to defeat him, so it will likely be necessary to repeat the procedure with the shredder shell again before you can finish him off. Watch the seen where Halis is rescued and gives you a new Element Warrior, Ash. You'll be back in the glade with the four tree in the Forgotten Forest. [The second coop mission is now unlocked.] Watch the cutscene to receive direction from the Mystic. ================================= 5.7 Defend First Elemental Shrine ================================= ------------------------------------------------------------- 5.7.1 Using Ash in the Forgotten Forest and Enchanted Kingdom ------------------------------------------------------------- Before you venture in the Badlands lets use Ash to recover some more collectables. You'll notice that a portal has been activated in the glade. This goes to the enchanted Kingdom. Don't go through it just yet. You should have 5 fruit at this point if you fully upgraded Pummel Weed and Rubble. Get all of Ash's Upgrades, except incinerator. Go to the shop and enter the hut beside it. Switch to Ash. There are a lot of beetles in Nettle's Hut. Use Ash's Inferno to take out the beetle's spawners, with would regenerate with Pummel Weed's or Rubble's Attack. *FRUIT #202-24* Nettle will give you a large fruit for clearing his hut of beetles and spawners. Use Ash's Wildfire to light the two torches here to open the door. *Crystal Eye of Spirit* Switch to Kameo and go into the room at the end of the hallway. Grab the crystal eye. Leave the dungeon. Go to the entrance to the Chamber of Living Portrait.
*Fruit #28* There will now be the small plants with red tops growing outside the chamber. Pull the up to find a Fruit. That's all the fruit we can get for now. Leave the inner courtyard and go through the portal back to the Forgotten Forest, between the Mystic's and Warrior Trainer's huts. Head west to the exit from the Forgotten Forest, and into the Badlands. (Unless you still need to buy something from the shops. (You should have the Elixirs, Fruit, and two (or more) money pouch upgrades. You can ignore the skins for now if you want. --------------------- 5.7.2 Shrine Defence --------------------- An elemental shrine will be coming under attack as you enter the badlands. Assuming you entered from the Forgotten Forest, head west and mount the horse. Ride to the shrine to the west. Dismount and switch to Pummel Weed. Use creeper and shredder to pick up a shredder shell and uprooted to throw it an one of the two siege tanks. Each tank will take three hits to destroy. ================================================== 5.8 Recover Major Ruin from the Third Shadow Troll ================================================== -------------------------- 5.8.1 Badlands Exploration -------------------------- Find your horse afterward, assuming a troll hasn't stolen it. If you see a troll riding the horse, use Kameo's flip kick to knock it off. If you can find the horse, proceed on foot. Before proceeding to the Mountain Falls, lets investigate the various huts, there are eight it all. Hut #1: Head back towards the Forgotten Forest. The first hut is on a hill to the north. Go inside and kill the four trolls. Try out Ash's Inferno on them. You'll need to return to this hut once you have Chilla. Hut #2: Even if you lost the horse, it should be outside the hut when you leave. Mount it and ride to the shrine. Turn south and ride until you reach a cliff lined with pillars. Turn right and go into the hut after dismounting. (If you're having trouble finding this hut Start from the forest glade entrance to the badlands and follow the mountain on your left until you reach the cliff.) *Fruit #29* Enter the tunnel in this hut. Go straight ahead and you'll find the Warrior Trainer. Talk to him to take the Pumpkin Panic Challenge for a price of 10 runes. There's 1 minute on the clock to smash at least 75 pumpkins. Switch to rubble and repeated blast (use the eye of spirit to recharge spirit faster). You should easily clear 75 pumpkins using Rubble, the Warrior Trainer will reward you with a fruit if you do. Hut #3: Leave the hut. Mount the horse and head north to the shrine. You'll see a forked path if you head northwest towards the blue beam. Take the path northeast and take the right path at the next fork. Follow this path. Dismount your horse and enter the hut. Use rubble to deal with the shield trolls in here. You'll need to come back later after you have Thermite to deal with the stone chest. Hut #4: Leave the hut. The next hut is close by to the north. Enter it. Clear the chests from the tunnel using some attacks. (The cabinet here contains Snare alternate skin (skin #9), so you'll need to come back later). Go into the tunnel. *Fruit #30* Approach the warrior trainer and talk to him to play the Beetle Brawl challenge for 10 runes. You have 1 minute to kill 120 of the beetles. Like the pumpkin challenge use rubble's blast repeatedly. If you run out of spirit keep moving through the beetle accepted the damage until the spirit recharges. You should easily clear 120 Beetles using Rubble, the Warrior Trainer will reward you with a fruit if you do. Leave the hut and mount the horse. Follow the path to the west, which will curve south. Turn west through a stone arch. Follow the path to the fork. The northern fork leads to the mountain falls, you'll be going that way after investigating the remaining huts. HUT #5: Take the southern fork instead and turn right and the next fork. Turn right past the burning catapult. Keep heading west until you reach the snow. Turn southwest and ride up to the hut. Dismount and go inside. The Cabinet inside contains the Alternate Skin for 40 below (skin #8) so you'll need to come back here once you have him. *Elixir #6* While you're in this hut, be sure to drink the elixir. HUT #6. He has two challenges at this location but you can only do one now, Troll Trouble for 10 runes. You'll have 2 minutes to take out 40 trolls. Again, Rubbles blast is the way to go. The Warrior Trainer will give you a fruit for winning the challenge. You'll need to come back after getting Thermite to take the other challenge offered here. HUT #7. Leave the hut and go into the hut to the south. *Fruit #33* Shake the plant growing behind the pile of crates. Grab the fruit that falls off. HUT #8. Leave the hut and mount the horse. Go up the slope north of hut #6 and follow the ledge south and east to a hut. Dismount and enter the hut. *Elixir #7* Drink the elixir here. You can come back later after you have Chilla in you want to shoot the pods on the roof. Leave the hut and mount your horse. Ride to the north side of the badland, make to the fork you saw after hut #4. Go north past the burning catapult and dismount by the bridge. Go north on foot into the Mountain Falls. ------------------------------ 5.8.2 Exploring Mountain Falls ------------------------------ Make your way through the debris. Switch to Ash. Use inferno to light the fuse on the Boom Root plant. Back off a bit and let it explode clearing the path. Switch to Kameo. Go forward and watch the scene with the Third Shadow Troll on a spiral slope. Looking ahead you'll see a stream. There are huts to the left, and right, and a third past an island in the center. Avoid the hut to the left for now as you don't have the elemental need to deal with the Water trolls inside. All you'll find in the hut to the right is a few coins. Swim to island, there are some plants on in that can be pulled up to get some coins. Wall into the hut on the other side of the island. This is Squibble's shop. He'll sell you five clues for 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 runes. You can read the clues again using the scrolls that appear around his shop. Leave the hut and swim over to the mainland to the north. There nothing to do yet on at the top of the ramp to the east so head to the center of the shoreline beside the spiral ramp. Go up the ramp and watch the bridge collapse. A rock creature will form below beside a boom root plant. Enter the castle at the top of the hill and talk to the character inside. He'll tell you that the castle is the Shrine of Light, but the torches are on. *FRUIT #34-36* Switch to Ash. Use wildfire on the two torches to the side of the door in this section. Turn away from the door and use wildfire again to light the third torch in the distance. Switch to Kameo and go outside. Switch back to Ash. Go one corner counterclockwise and use wildfire to light the fourth torch. Go three more corners counterclockwise and use wildfire to light the fifth torch. There a hill with a quest giver to the north plant on the east side, but you last the elemental required for his quest. His wife blocks entrance to the hut to the east of her. *FRUIT #37* Use Pummel Weeds Uprooter on the seashells. The middle one should contain a fruit. Just past the shells is a shop. The inventory here is: Giant Heart: 10 Runes Elixir of Life: 20 runes Elemental Fruit: 30 runes 'Fruit Finder' newsletter: 30 runes Larger Money Pouch (holds 700 runes): 200 Runes. New Low for Major Rubble: 125 Runes (Currently unavailable) *ELIXIR #9* Buy the elixir when you get enough money. *FRUIT #38-39* Buy the fruit when you get enough money. Switch to Ash and use inferno to light the fuse. Back off and wait for the plant to explode, causing the rock creature to fall apart. Switch to Rubble and move through the segmented creature. Drag it south and east to the base of the ramp. Drag it back up the hill to the top to repair the bridge. *FRUIT #41* Switch to Kameo and cross the bridge. Before entering the cave go along the path to the right. Shake the plant you find and get the fruit. Go back to the cave entrance and go inside. --------------------- 5.8.3 Lobster Hollow --------------------- Watch the scene with the shadow troll going into its well. Talk to the character on the bottom of the slope ahead of you. Pay attention to his clue: "Fist the weapons of the past, the torch that casts their glow. The towards the ancient sailor's anchor you must go! Third, the single candle that was place to light the cave. Last, the bones of someone who is resting in their grave! Switch to Ash and turn right into the main caver. There are fourth torches here. The nearest one has an anchor by it, this is the second torch to light. Crabs will attack if you light the torches out of sequence. Don't get to close to the lobster traps or your get attacks. The one you want to light first has a sword stuck in the ground in front of it. Use wildfire to light the torch. Now you can light the one with the anchor beside it using wildfire. The third torch is glowing. Use wildfire on it to light it. The last torch has a skull in front of it. Light it with wildfire as well. The lightning attacks can be dodged to the sides. It take three hits to finish off this shadow troll. Walk up to the elemental sprite and absorb it to get Major Ruin. Watch the Cutscene. ================================================== 5.9 Recover Deep Blue from the Fourth Shadow Troll ================================================== ------------------------------------------ 5.9.1 Try out Major Ruin in Lobster Hollow ------------------------------------------ Fully upgrade Major Ruin. *Fruit #42* Use major ruin's Rush to destroy the lobster traps. One of the will produce a fruit which you can switch to Kameo to pick up. You can also use Major Ruin's rush to knock the boom-root plant beside the stone chests. Switch to Ash and use inferno to line the plant and let them blow the chests open so you can get the runes inside. Go up the path past the character and leave the cave. --------------------------------- 5.9.2 Exploration with Major Ruin --------------------------------- Watch the scene that indicates the next shadow troll has gone through the opening at the top of a ramp at the north end of Lobster Hollow. Instead of crossing the bridge, follow the patch counterclockwise around the hill. Switch to Major Ruin and use his Rush to jump the gap. Go past the rock creature and read the sign at the end of the path: "#1 - That star fish hold some pearls of fame - search there to start my treasure game." Hover will Kameo and drop to the ground, jumping to break your fall. Turn towards the starfish under the hill. Go under the hill and up the slope by the red starfish. Read the second sign there: "#2 - To find my sign and save some hassle, search behind the ancient castle..." *SKIN #4* If you have 125 Runes you can now buy the alternate skin for Major Ruin from the shop. *FRUIT #43* Make your south to the boom-root plant. Knock it loose with Major Ruin's Ruin. Push it by the stone chests. Use Ash's Inferno to light the fruit. Wait for it to explode, opening the chests. Get the Fruit and runes that are released. Make your way up the hill back to the Shrine of Light. Go around the outside until you fight the sign under the torch furthest from the bridge. Read it: "#3 - The lakeside hill near wise old squid is where my latest sign is hid." Go back down the ramp to the ground. Go to the western end of the shore line and go up the hill. Read the fourth side there: "#4 - The final sin's across the way, out from the ledge where Roctii play." Head up the ramp and the eastern end of the shore line. Turn right twice and go up the hill. Use Major Ruin's Rush to knock the boom root down the hill to the rock creature. Use Ash's Inferno to light the boom root to fragment the rock creature. Switch the Rubble and drag the rocks to the nearby circle to form a ramp. Switch to Major Ruin and use rush to jump off the ramp to a ledge to the north. *FRUIT #44* Read the fifth sign here: "#5 - The game is done, you've won the day - now take this fruit and go away". Switch to Kameo to shake the plant and grab the fruit that falls off. *FRUIT #45*. Switch to Major Ruin. Aim at the wall at an angle so you can get to the next ledge to the north. Switch to Kameo to shake the plant and grab the fruit that falls off. Make your way to the ramp in the northwest corner of Mountain Falls. Use Major Ruin's Rush to jump up the ramp. Use rush again to hover in midair so you can shoot forward into the opening at the top. ------------------- 5.9.3 Mountain Rise ------------------- Watch the scene of the Shadow Troll at the summit of the mountain. Head forward, a door on the mountain wall will lock and some torches will go out. Switch to Ash and go forward some more. Use inferno to take out the Plant Trolls. The door will now by unlocked. Switch to Major Ruin and go around the corner to the right. Use Rush to jump over the gap. Head towards the door and go through it. Go down the tunnel. Some rock will join to form a rock troll. Use major ruin's Rush to knock the boom-root plant to the right loose. Go through the opening you just cleared a switch to Ash. Use inferno to melt the ice blocks. One of them contains the missing husband. His wife will leave a large fruit as a reward. Switch to Kameo and return to the previous area to grab it. Cross the bridge to the north. Use Major Ruin's rush to jump up the ramp at the end. Rush in midair and let yourself fall to the ledge below. *FRUIT #90* Shake the plant on this ledge and grab the fruit that drops off. Go up the slope to the south and use Major Ruins rush to get back to the end of the bridge. Use rush off the ramp at the end of the bridge again, and do another midair rush. This time, switch to Chilla to grab onto the ice wall. The path up it to the right. Just skewer the spiders and grab on again. Turn left at the top, going under the spiders when they move up. Release at the left end. Switch to Ash. Use wildfire to thaw the ice on the cave mouth and go through the opening. -------------------- 5.14.3 Sulfur Cavern -------------------- Watch the scene with the fifth Shadow Troll going into the well. Go down into the main cavern and use Ash's Inferno on the plant trolls. Switch to Chilla, aim, and shoot the dragon that's flying around to get it to drop its egg. Push the egg to the rock that sitting on the well. The well will open when the egg explodes. Switch to Kameo and enter the well. ------------------------------ 5.14.4 The Fifth Shadow Troll ------------------------------ Again you'll need to wait for the lost soul and flip kick them. Go through their light energy. Throw the energy at the Shadow Troll to hurt it. This Shadow Troll attacks with energy column and exploding skulls. The skull can be easily avoided. This troll takes three hits to destroy as well. After the Shadow Troll is Defeated go up to the Elemental Sprite and Absorb it to get Flex. Watch the Cutscene. ================================== 5.15 Defend Third Elemental Shrine ================================== ----------------------------- 5.15.1 Leave the Sulfur Cave ----------------------------- The path out of the cave is block by vines. Fully upgrade Flex and switch to it. Stand to the right of the path leading up to the vines. You can see a blue plant through an opening. Hold Flex's Shot to aim at the plant and wait for its mouth to open and left the shot go to pull yourself through the opening. Leave the Sulfur Cave. ----------------------------------- 5.15.2 Initial Exploring with Flex ----------------------------------- Watch the scene with the sixth shadow troll. Face up and to the right to see a blue plant. Aim Flex's Shot at it when it open its mouth to pull yourself up to the ledge. Go around the corner and through the cave. Switch to Major Ruin to drop over the edge to the east to the base of the ice wall to the Sulfur Cave. Read the third sign here: "#3 - Across the void, along the branch, my sign lies near the avalanche." Go up the slope and use Major Ruin's Rush to jump up to the end of the bridge. Orthos has a feeling about something happing on the Badlands as you start to cross the bridge. Finish crossing the bridge and switch to Chilla. Climb down the ice wall to the right. Switch to Kameo and enter the main tree. Go around to the exit to the shop and switch to Chilla and climb down the ice wall. Switch to Kameo and enter the hollow log. Watch the cutscene. ----------------------------- 5.15.3 Return to the Badlands ----------------------------- Switch to Major Ruin. Go to the east end on the hollow log and rust to jump the gap to the hut. Head south to the Badlands. --------------------------- 5.15.4 Third Shrine Defence --------------------------- Switch to Chilla and climb down the ice wall. Switch to Kameo and mount the horse. Ride west along the path. Drop over the ledge to the left as you approach the Hut. Keep riding west until you get to the path up to the shrine. It's packed solid with trolls, you can't miss it. Charge up the path through the trolls. Dismount at the top of the hill. Push the reddish rock into the catapult, use Chilla to push as his widen girth will make it less likely for the rock to roll past you. Watch the cutscene of a troll catapult being destroy. Repeat with the other two catapults at the shrine to complete the defence. DON'T roll into the catapult with Major Ruin, it's a long way back up the hill. Try to find your horse (I couldn't after the Major Ruin in the catapult incident). A troll may be riding it, if so flip kick him off. Return to the ice wall below the Snow Top Village (either riding or on foot). Climb the wall with Chilla and go back into the village. ================================================= 5.16 Recover 40 Below from the Sixth Shadow Troll ================================================= ---------------------------------- 5.16.1 Climb to the Crystal Grotto ---------------------------------- Head north to the hut. Switch to Major Ruin and rush up the ramp to the west. Rush in midair and shoot your self into the log. Go to the pool in the main tree. *Skin #7* Go up to the store and buy Flex's Alternate Skin for 150 Rune and return here. Go through the exit to the west. Go to the west side on the school and onto the ledge by the logs. Switch to Flex. Aim a shot at the blue plant when it opens its mount to get across the gap. Do then same with the next two gaps. Read the fourth sign to the right here: "#4 - Near Thyra's hair, the Great Ravine, you'll find my sign - know where I mean?" Turn around a go to the other end of this ledge. Aim a shot an the plant across the gap, when its mouth opens after the snowball go by. Go to the end of the ledge, stopping before the impact crater to allow a boulder to land. Move onto the impact crater and aim a shot up to the next plant before the next boulder comes. Repeat for this ledge. Turn around and aim up to the next plant. Wait for a boulder to roll past the plant before releasing the shot. Duck into the niche to the left and wait for the next boulder to go by. Move out and face the impact crater and aim up to the next plant. Duck into the another niche to the left and wait for the boulder. Move onto the impact crater and aim up to the next plant. Switch to Ash. Use wildfire to melt the ice on the cave. Switch to Kameo to fit in the hole. --------------------- 5.16.2 Crystal Grotto --------------------- Watch the scene with the shadow troll retreating into its well. Switch to Flex and go down the slope. Aim for the ice troll and release a shot when a vortex appear in front of its shield. This will pull its shield away. Switch to ash and use inferno on it. The path to the well will now be open. *FRUIT #91* Switch to Kameo and jump up by the well but don't go it yet. Switch to Ash and melt the ice block to reveal a fruit. Switch to Kameo to grab the fruit. *FRUIT #92* Switch to Chilla. Throw Ice Spikes at the pod on the cavern ceiling. One of them will produce a fruit. Switch to Kameo to grab it. Enter the well. -------------------------- 5.16.3 Sixth Shadow Troll -------------------------- Same deal again. Wait for the lost souls. Flip kick them. Walk through the light energy. Throw light energy at Shadow Troll to hurt it. It using a blast wave again. Once again it takes three his to destroy. Go up to the Elemental Sprite and absorb it to get 40 Below. Watch the cutscene. ============================== 5.17 Get to the fourth mission ============================== ------------------------------------- 5.17.1 40 Below in the Crystal Grotto ------------------------------------- Upgrade 40 Below fully and switch to him. *FRUIT #93* Destroy the ice chests in the Crystal Grotto with 40 below. One of the chests in at the base of the path out of the cave holds a fruit. Switch to Kameo to pick it up. Leave the cave. ----------------------------------------- 5.17.2 Loose Ends in the Snow Top Village ----------------------------------------- One of the villager will tell you that you can use 40 Below to go along the ice paths. Switch to 40 Below and ride down the ice path to the east. Switch to Major Ruin. Go up the slope and use rush to jump up to the ramp to the end of the bridge. Ignore Orthos' advise about the ice path from the sulfur cave, there's a better way to go. Go across the bridge and switch to Chilla. Climb down the ice wall to the right. Switch to Kameo and go into the tree. Dive into the pool below. Go out the west exit from the base of the tree. Switch to 40 below an go along the ice path to the right. *FRUIT #94* Switch to Kameo when you get to the ledge. Shake the plant there and grab the fruit when it falls off. *FRUIT #95* Switch back to 40 Below and continue going east along the ice path. Smash the ice chest open at the other end to reveal a fruit. Switch to Kameo to grab the fruit. Switch to flex. Aim for the blue plant and pull yourself up into a pool. Note that flex skims the surface of the pool. You're where the difficult slide from the sulfur cave would have taken you. Shoot at the plant to the right to pull your self to the ledge below it. Go north a bit and aim up to the next plant. Go north again and aim to the next plant. You're at the entrance to the snow temple. Don't go inside yet. Go past the entrance. *FRUIT #96* Read the fifth sign at the beginning of an ice path: "#5 - You've trekked and climbed and stretched and balanced - this fruit rewards your many talents." Switch to Kameo and shake the plant. Grab the fruit that falls off. *FRUIT #97* Switch to 40 Below and go along the ice path here. The path turns right to another plant. Switch to Kameo and shake it. Grab the fruit that falls off. Switch to 40 Below and go back along the ice path to the Snow Temple entrance. Switch to Kameo and go inside. ================================= 5.18 Main Mission #4: Snow Temple ================================= Watch the cutscene. Turn right and destroy the crates to reveal an ice wall. Switch to Chilla and start climbing the wall, avoid or skewer the spider. Two trolls with cannons will start firing at you as you climb. Go left at the top and release. Grab onto the ice below the gap. Climb up and left. Release onto the ledge. Turn around and aim at the trolls with cannons and fire ice spikes at them (aim for the cannons) to get rid of them. After dealing with the trolls, turn right and switch to flex. Aim for the blue plant and wait for the snowball to pass before releasing the shot. Go ahead a bit past the plant and aim for the next one. Again wait for the snowball to pass before releasing the shot. Turn around and aim up to another plant, I didn't notice any snowballs in the way for this one. Face the wall and switch to Chilla. Start climbing the ice wall. The way up is to the right a bit, snowballs fall in to lines in this portion, one on the left and one on the right. Wait for the one on the left to go by and start climbing. Leap to the right side after one on the right side goes by. Repeat for alternating left and right side until you get to a large path left. (Ignore the small niche to the left on the way.) Go left as far as you can and then release and quickly grab on. Go left until you reach the end of the outcropping above you. Wait for a snowball to go by and then leap left twice. Climb up and then left and release onto a ledge. The large creature chain up here is not a troll, it's a walrus, an ally of the elves. Don't attack it. Aim for the lock on the chains on both arms to release it so it can attack the gates on the bridge. Quickly switch to Deep Blue and spray to same fire trolls that appear to protect the Walrus. Once they're dealt with, switch to Chilla and grab the other troll and hurl it away. Smash the crates on the ramp on the main wall and go up it to deal with the archers that come out. Queen Thyra will also appear summoning ice spike that will be precede by green vortices so you can avoid them. Switch back to Kameo so you can keep up with the Walrus after the bridge falls. Switch to Chilla to use an ice spike on a cannon troll on a tower to the left of the bridge. Switch to Ash here and turn around to toast the wave of spiders with wildfire and/or inferno, while the walrus breaks open the ice wall at the other end of the bridge. Several trolls will attack some knights behind you. You can help the knight out by grabbing the trolls three at a time and hurling them off. Make sure you time the hurls to avoid the Queen's ice attacks. Go to the end of the bridge. 40 Below can get some coins from the ice chests here, although there little need for runes now since you should have purchased everything of interest already. Switch to Major Ruin. Use rush on the ramp at the left side. Do a mid air rush and switch to Chilla at the ice wall. Grab the troll at the top and hurl it off. Ignore the ramp and climb the ice wall to the right. Jog left and keep going up. Head left at the top, avoiding the spider and descend to the ledge (that jump from the ramp would have got you to if you could pull it off.) Grab the troll and hurl it off. Climb back up the ice wall and head right, past the spiders and the way you climbed up originally. Descend onto the ledge, grab the troll and hurl it away. Aim for the ice wall across from the ramp and throw and spike at it. Switch to Major Ruin. Rush up the ramp, do a midair rush and switch to Chilla to grab the ice wall. Climb up the wall and go into the room. Grab the trolls in batches of three and hurl them away. If a bunch of them are under the large weight, throw an ice spear at the chain to squish them. Switch to ash to deal with the three ice troll swordsmen using inferno. Switch the Flex to pull the shields from the two ice trolls with shield when there vortices appear, switch to Ash to finish them off with inferno. A door opens when you're done. Start grabbing and hurling trolls to help out the knights. Once they're dealt will aim some ice spikes at the cannon trolls visible in a tower through the large opening in this room. Go down the hall through the door that opened earlier. Switch to Deep Blue and spray the small fire trolls off the edge of the walkway as well as the spiders. Switch to Chilla after going by the spider's hole and grab the two trolls, aim them and some spikes at the cannon troll to the right. Climb up the ice wall at the end of the path, avoiding a spider on the wall. There's another Walrus here. Before starting to release him, grab the trolls running about and hurl them away. Once they're deal with fire ice spikes and both locks to let the walrus start working on the bridge. Turn around a pick off the archers and cannon trolls on the wall behind you. Switch to Ash to deal with the two Ice Troll swordsmen using inferno. Switch to Kameo to keep up with the Walrus after the gate falls, switching to Ash to use inferno on the ice trolls that appear. Switch to Chilla to take out the trolls with cannons to either side with ice spikes. Switch back to Ash to defend against the ice trolls and spider while the Walrus tackles the Wall. There will be two ice trolls for Ash's inferno, and several trolls for Chilla to grab and hurl behind you. Switch to Deep Blue and go to the end of the bridge and spray the small fire trolls. There are two routes you can take here. Let tale the Right Route: Climb the ice wall to the right, and avoid the two spiders on the way up. Switch to Major Ruin and use rush off the ramp. Rush in midair and switch to Chilla to grab the ice wall. Climb up the wall into a room. Switch to Chilla to grab and hurl the regular trolls. Switch the flex to steal the shield of the ice trolls where their vortices appear and switch to Ash to finish them off with inferno. A door will open now. Head through the door to the boss battle. ============================ 5.19 Boss Fight: Queen Thyra ============================ If you have the eye of restoration, make sure that you're using it. Switch to Chilla to begin with. Wait for Queen Thyra to charge and step aside before she skewers you. Aim for her eyes and fire a spike when she opens them. A batch of eyes with be knocked lose. Switch to 40 Below. Use Snowball and Wrecker to knock all of the small eyes off the edge. Watch out for the green vortices that indicate that an ice spear is about to appear. Switch back to Chilla when the Queen jumps back down. Like the first time wait for her to charge and sidestep her attack. Aim for her eyes when they open. Only some will open at a time so throw several spear. When you knock the eyes out, switch back to 40 Below and deal with this batch like before. Switch back to Chilla when the Queen jumps down again. The Queen like won't do as much charging this time. Step back from the initial charge and aim for the eyes as her pincers a coming down, if you don't hit the eyes after three or four spikes stop aims and prepare to dodge her skewer attack again for another attempt. When you knock the eyes out, switch back to 40 Below and deal with this batch like before. Switch back to Chilla when the Quest jump down again. Hit the fourth eye using the same strategy as the third one. Don't switch to 40 Below, as this batch jumps off on their one. For the final eye run around a count 14 green vortices. After the last one stop and aim for where the large eye will appear and quickly throw an ice spike at it to knock it loose. Initial this eye will have spikes, wait for them to retract and switch to 40 Below. Use snowball and wreck to knock the eye off. This is largely a matter of luck to get the final hit in to send it on the edge, but with the eye of restoration you shouldn't run out of health until you get the angle right and/or timing right. During my second game I steered the eye to the left of the spider (when facing the spider) and knocked it off the edge there, although that's not necessarily a requirement. I think its most likely that you need to hit it twice on the edge before it can bounce over you, most easily done to the side of the Queen's body. NOTE: You can also use Major Ruin's Rush on the large eye, make sure to time the rush to hit the eye when it lands and the eye will go flying off the edge. Watch the scene where Yeros is rescued and gives you Snare. [The fourth co-op quest is unlocked]. =============================================== 5.20 Recover Thermite from Seventh Shadow Troll =============================================== ----------------------------- 5.20.1 Skins in the Badlands ----------------------------- Fully Upgrade Snare. You'll be at the Warp Gate. Rather than take it go into the hollow log. Switch to Major Ruin and rush from the end of the log to land by the hut. Go south to the exit to Badlands. Switch to Chilla to climb down the ice wall. Switch to Kameo and mount the horse. *Skin #8* We saw 40 Below's skin in our previous exploration. Ride down the hill and north to the northernmost hut in the frozen regions. Dismount, go inside and get 40 Below's skin from the cabinet. Leave and get on the horse again. *Skin #9* Ride to the northernmost hut of the two to the southeast of mountain falls. Dismount, go inside and get Snare's alternate skin from the cabinet. ------------------------------- 5.20.2 Finding the Ogre's Swamp ------------------------------- Leave the hut and ride to the Forgotten Forest entrance. Dismount and go into the forest. Make you're way north to the bar. Watch the cutscene with the Warrior Trainer. Go over to the Jukebox and play "Precious Memories" for 5 Runes. The Warrior Trainer will several summon Magmites that head outside. Head south from the bar to the area near the store. Orthos will point out a target over a door nearby. Switch to Snare. Bite a Magmite to put it in Snare's mouth. Move to the cross and face the target. Use Root and start rocking back and forth a couple of time. Spit the Magmite up on the upswing. It shout hit the target. If it does switch to Chilla, aim and throw a spike at the magmite to blow it up. This opens the door. Swim across the water and go through the door into the Ogre's Swamp. ------------------- 5.20.3 Ogre's Swamp ------------------- Watch the cutscene. Switch to Ash and go around the swamp to destroy the five beetle spawners with inferno. Switch to Chilla as throw Ice Spikes at the mosquito nests on each of the five trees. Don't attack the Ogre, you'll be needing his services. Once the spawners are go switch to Kameo. Shake loose one of the horn flowers and grab it. Watch for one of the fruit to open on a tree and throw the horn flower to the tree. If the ogre is close enough he'll charge the tree at the fruit will fall off. Grab the fruit and go to one of the steam vent. Drop the fruit to plug the hole. Repeat for the other two holes to open the gate to the shadow troll's well. *FRUIT #98* Go through the gate and past the well. Shake the plant and grab the fruit that falls off. Enter the well. --------------------------- 5.20.4 Seventh Shadow Troll --------------------------- Again you need to wait for the lost soul, flip kick them, and go through their light energy. Throw the energy at the shadow troll. The final shadow troll attack with flaming skulls which a slow moving a fairly easily avoided, and also shockwave when he's gravely injured. This shadow troll required four hit to destroy. Go up to the Elemental Sprite and Absorb it to get the last elemental warrior Thermite. Watch the cutscenes. ============================= 5.21 Get to the fifth mission ============================= ------------------------------ 5.21.1 Leave the Ogre's Swamp ------------------------------ Fully Upgrade Thermite and switch to him. Use Mortar and aim for the rocks blocking the exit from the Well area. Fire a Lave Bomb at them and stand clear with it blows them up. The lava bomb can also be used to open the stone chests here for coins. If you want to deal with the enemies in the swamp, Ash's inferno is ideal against the plant trolls and beetle spawners. It not necessary, so you can just run to the exit in the Forgotten Forest. ------------------------------ 5.22.2 Wrap up some loose ends ------------------------------ There are still four items left to find before we commence the final assault against Thorn's forces. *SKIN #10* Go south all the way to Creeper's hut to get Thermite's Skin from the cabinet it side. The horse won't be available. *FRUIT #99* Switch the Thermite and use the shield. Head northeast to the southern of the two huts to the southeast of Mountain Fall. Inside the hut use mortal and bomb to open the stone chest, revealing a fruit. Switch to Kameo and grab the fruit. Leave the hut and switch back to Thermite. *FRUIT #100* -- Use shield again and roll southwest to the northern of the two adjacent huts under the entrance to Snow Top Village. Go down the tunnel and approach the Warrior Trainer. Talk to him and take the Elemental Evil challenge for 20 Runes. You have five minutes to destroy at least 40 trolls. The trolls appear in battle of 10 of the same species. The first six waves are: Plant Trolls: Ash's Inferno or Thermite's firecracker Small Fire Troll: Deep Blue's Spray Mud Troll's: Rubble's Blast Ice Troll Swordsmen: Ash's Inferno Water Trolls: Push off the edges with Deep Blue's Spray Two trolls of each of the five species: Time's likely running out by now, switch between Deep Blue, Ash, and Rubble. The Warrior Trainer will give you a fruit for clearing the ice troll wave. ---------------------------- 5.22.3 Go to Thorn's Castle ---------------------------- Leave the hut and switch to Thermite. Use Shield and roll west and then south towards the castle entrance. Go along the side of the battling forces. Fire bomb at the gate until it is destroyed. Go through the gate to begin the final onslaught against Thorn. ================================== 5.22 Main Mission #5: Thorn's Pass ================================== Watch the cutscene. There's a glass jaw troll in the distance ahead of you. Before you worry about him though take out the trolls will cannons on the towers to the left and right with Chilla's Ice spike. Then switch to snare to bite the armored trolls and finish them off with lock jaw, keeping it up until they finish coming out. This glass jaw troll recovers too quickly from Pummel Weed's uprooter to get a shot in at it's exposed neck with Chilla. Instead use Thermite's Mortar and Lava Bomb to give you time to switch to Chilla and aim spikes at his neck. The gate behind the large troll opens when he falls. Several trolls appear that Chilla can grab in groups of three and hurl away. One the bridge through the gate there are more trolls for Chilla to grab and Hurl as well a dragon overhead to shoot down, either with a troll or an ice spike. Once they're dealt with face the drawbridge across the gap from the end of the bridge. Throw ice spikes at the locks on the three chains, the top and bottom at to the left, the middle is to the right. After you hit all of the lock, the drawbridge will fall. Step onto the drawbridge an watch the cutscene. Go ahead through the gates and watch the bridge get smashed behind you. There'll be no turning back now. Switch to Deep Blue and spray the small fire trolls and take out the archers with Chilla's Ice Spikes. Switch to Thermite and use mortar and fire a bomb at the barricade to the left to destroy it. Deal with the fire trolls that appear afterward with Deep Blues spray. Switch to Thermite and use Shield. Roll over where the barricade was into the lave below. Roll onto the solid rock. Rush up this ramp and do a midair rush, turning left to make it to the larger area across the gap. Switch to Thermite and use mortar. Lob bombs at the armored cannon trolls. Keep moving to avoid their return fire. The gate behind them opens when all four have been destroyed. Switch to Kameo to jump over the metal crated to the sides of the lava pool. Switch to Chilla to go through the gate where some trolls can be seen waiting. Grab and hull them. There's an airship in the distance that you can slowly wear down with ice spikes from Chilla, but it will take 50 hits to destroy. Switch to Major Ruin and rush up the ramp to the right. Switch to Kameo and jump onto the ledge before the hole. Switch to Thermite and fire bombs through the hole to deal with the hordes of trolls on the other side, you should rack up some good points doing this if you make sure to back away from the explosions. Once all of the little trolls are dealt with, drop into the room and fire bomb at the glass jaw troll to get it to expose its next. Switch to Chilla to throw ice spikes at the next. Repeat until the troll falls. What the scene. There's and open gate here. Switch to Major Ruin. Rush up the ramp, aiming towards the ice wall to the left. Switch to Chill to grab the wall. Climb up and then left. If you didn't take out the airship earlier, it will be firing at you now, try using Thermite lava bomb. Switch to Major Ruin. Getting all six of them into the turbine will destroy the main engine of the airship. Switch to Chilla and start grabbing and hurling trolls. The cannon trolls standing idle on the walkway seem to be immune to ice spikes and are out of range of the lava bomb so ignore them. Switch to Major Ruin and rush up the ramp that the force field dropped over, to the left when facing the former location of the main engine. Go down the hall. Use Thermite's lava bomb to deal with the airship and it's cannon troll. Switch to Snare and start biting the armored trolls. Go to the engine and spit the trolls in. Repeat until the engine is destroyed. Bite and lockjaw any remaining armored trolls. Switch to Pummel Weed. Use creep to get under the rapidly opening and closing door, timing it as it starts to rise. Go down the hallway. Switch to Major Ruin and drop down the ramp, and rush up the ramp on the other side. Go down the hallway. Strafe with Thermite's Mortar to deal with the laser firing air ship. Switch to Snake and deal with the turbine on this side the same way as the other, by biting and spits armored trolls into it. Bite and lockjaw any remaining trolls. Switch to Pummel Weed and use creeper to get under the door. Switch to Major Ruin and drop back into the main engine room. Drop down the hole to the right. Forget the airships here, they too much off a pain to hit (Chilla's ice spike will reach then but at 50 hits each and to sets of incoming cannon balls its not worth the effort). Use Major Ruin's rush on the ramp, releasing when the blade has just gone by in front of you. Repeat for the next ramp and blade. Switch to Kameo to go up the ramp to the right and reenter the ship. There are a lot of armored trolls and a glass jaw troll here. Use Snare's bite, and lockjaw on the armored trolls. Switch termite to use lava bombs to get the troll to expose its neck and then switch to Chilla to throw spikes at the trolls neck. Several knight appear to fight a horde of trolls. Pummel Weed's jab combos, Chilla's grab and hurl, Snare's bite and lockjaw, Rubble's Blast, Thermite's Lava Bombs can be used at your discretion. Go through the into the opening, and drop onto the platform below. Throw ice spikes at the chains on the airship in front of your to release it so it will blast an opening for you. Switch to major ruin to drop to the floor safely. Use Deep Blue's Spray on the fire trolls. Use pummel weeds, creeper and uprooter to expose the white trolls when the spikes on their shells retract. Switch to Major Ruin. Rush up the ramp and land on top. Do the same with the next ramp to get to the deck, perhaps doing a midair rush. Try not to fall onto the lower deck, if you do rush up the ramps back to the upper deck. Switch to Thermite and take out the trolls below with lava bombs as well as the two air ships. Deal with the one on this deal with Chilla's grab and hurl. Switch to Major Ruin and rush up the ramp through the door that just opened. Go to the entrance on the other side. You can take out the airship on the right safely from the doorway if you raise the mortar all the way. You'll need to drop down to get the one that fires lasers. Wait for a volley to stop and drop down, activate mortal, and fire bombs at it. It you're incline there are some roll troll below to be knocked over the edge. Switch back to Major Ruin. Rush up the ramps to get back to the previous room. Switch to Kameo and jump through the round opening. Go up the ramp to face the final conflict with Thorn and Kalus. ================================ 5.25 Boss Fight: Thorn and Kalus ================================ Watch the cutscene. Make sure to have the Gem of Restoration enabled. Switch to Thermite and just keep firing lava bombs at Thorn, he'll steadily take damage from them. Back away from him while you do so after he gets his morning star. If and when water trolls appear, switch to Deep Blue to spray them, leaving them vulnerable to Thorn's attacks, switch back to Thermite and resume the bombs. When Thorns health is reduced to zero, he falls to the deck, down but not yet out. Kalus remains to be dealt with and Thorn will revive if you don't take care of her quickly. Switch to Chilla and start throwing ice spikes at her, it will take 10 to finish her off. Brandon sent this altenate method for bringing down Thorn: "When you use 40 below, and use his wreaker attack, you are pretty much invincible against anything in that boss battle. So if you keep using that attack, you beat Thorn pretty easily. Then as you said, you can finish off the girl [Kalus] with Chila." NOTE: I tried the strategy Brandon sent when going for the co-op achievement, it works well until Thorn starts jumping around. At that point it's difficult to keep up with Thorn, so I'd recommend switching to Thermite to use the lava bombs until Thorn picks up the morning star, at which point 40 Below's wrecker will be able to hit him again. Jay adds this comment to the 40 below strategy: I didn't experience the problem that you did when he was jumping around. I use the lava bombs for the first wave, because that's the easiest. I originally used 40 to try to force the focused attack (as ortho suggested), but didn't get anywhere with it. So, I unloaded on Thorn. I just kept nailing him until I ran out of spirit, then ran away for a few seconds, then did it again. I completely disregarded all of the other demons and just focused on him. Watch the closing cutscene. ============== 5.26 Aftermath ============== You can continue playing after the final battle. There are two reasons to do so. One is to track down any collectables you missed to get the game complete achievement. The other is to try to improve your scores by using the magic mirror it the Chamber of Living Portraits, both to unlock the bonuses and to get the A ranking achievements if you can pull them off. ****************************************************************************** 6. Elemental Warriors and Upgrades ****************************************************************************** Kameo can take on the form of 10 different Elemental Warriors once she acquires them. Each of the Elementals has a history given in the Wotnot Book. All of the techniques all have descriptions given. ================ 6.1 Pummel Weed ================ Wotnot Entries for Techniques ============================= Jab (left) ---------- A quick jab with Pummel Weed's left give that will damage most unprotected enemies. To perform a left jab: pull [LT] while moving around normally. Jab (right) ----------- A punch with Pummel Weed's right glove that will damage enemies. Repeatedly alternating this technique with the left jab will allow Pummel Weed to pull off his Wildweed combo, which culminates in a damaging uppercut. To perform a left jab: pull [RT] while moving around normally. Weed Creeper ------------ This technique lets Pummel Weed retract his body into his head, which in turn submerges into the ground. In this state Pummel Weed can 'limbo' under certain obstacles and avoid attacks. To perform the Weed Creeper technique: pull both [LT] and [RT] simultaneously whilst moving normally. Shredder -------- Using the Shredder, Pummel Weed can take control of empty shells and similar Troll weaponry, delivering a spiky slam to enemies with reach. When the spirit bar is drained, Pummel Weed will flip the shell away. To perform the Shredder: move next to a vacant shell while performing the Weed Creeper and pull [LT]. Wotnot Entries for Advanced Techniques ====================================== Uprooter -------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 1 The Uprooter lets Pummel Weed deliver a powerful uppercut blow to the underside of a nearby enemy. To perform the Uprooter: pull [RT] during the Weed Creeper technique. Razor Top --------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 2 Once the Razor Top technique has been acquired, Pummel Weed's top most leaves grow a set of spiky red thorns. When using the Weed Creeper technique, these thorns will deal heavy damage to any enemy that Pummel Weed brushes up against. Wildrush -------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 2 The Wildrush unleashes a double-fisted blow that allows Pummel Weed to smash through some obstructions, including certain types of shield, and deliver damage. To perform the Wildrush: double-tap (L) in the direction of your foe then quickly pull [LT] and [RT]. Weedkill -------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 3 Weedkill, a lethal blow that delivers a Brutal Battle Bonus when used correctly, is a charged uppercut that will tear an enemy limb from limb. To perform the Weedkill: pull and hold [LT] to charge the move while performing the Weed Creeper. Release [LT] when Pummel Weed is within range of an enemy. Spirit Up --------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 1 Increase the size of the spirit bar. History Wotnot Entry ==================== The Queen of the Third Age spent much of her life hunting for the Elemental Warrior, scouring the wilderness with her most trusted troops. Eventually she discovered an Elemental Sprite deep within a meadow filled with fruits and berries. With the fabled Wotnot Book in her possession, the Queen was able to capture the Elemental Sprite and restore its true identity: Pummel Weed, the Elemental Warrior whose existence kept the harvest bountiful and helped the fruits of the land to ripen. With Pummel Weed at her command, the Elves would never go hungry again. Later, the Queen was able to use the Element of Power, transforming into Pummel Weed and harnessing his powerful techniques to destroy a rebel uprising in the old Sargothan ruins - an uprising that would have threatened the Elves' very way of life. =========== 6.2 Rubble =========== Wotnot Entries for Techniques ============================= Sling Stone ----------- Sling Stone launches a fast-moving, low-firing rock in the direction that Rubble is currently facing and will stun any enemy that it his. Like Stone Chip, rocks will return to Rubble automatically, dealing damage if upgraded. To perform the Sling Stone technique: pull [RT] while moving normally. Stone Chip ---------- The Stone Chip technique allows Rubble to temporarily remove a part of his body and fire it in a high, slow-moving arc. The rocks can be used to stun enemies or hit certain targets, and will return to Rubble automatically soon after being fired. To perform the Stone Chip: pull [LT] while moving normally. Gravel Blast ------------ The Gravel Blast technique must be charged, and when fully primed it causes Rubble to fire off all of his rocks in several directions, hitting multiple targets simultaneously. This is a potent technique but will leave Rubble defenseless for a short time until his rocks return. To perform the Gravel Blast: pull and hold both [LT] and [RT] until Rubble detonates. Wotnot Entries for Advanced Techniques ====================================== Razor Stone ----------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 2 Once Rubble has the Razor Stone upgrade, his rocks will be coated in sharp, stony spikes. As a result, techniques that previously stunned an enemy -- such as the Stone Chip or Gravel Blast -- will deal damage instead. Since the rocks are spiky, they will stick into an enemy for a short time before returning to Rubble, leaving him defenseless for a slightly longer period. Rapid Charge ------------ Elemental Fruit Cost: 2 Rapid Charge greatly reduces the time needed to perform the Gravel Blast technique, allowing Rubble to take out multiple enemies quickly and stylishly even when surrounded and at close-quarters. To perform the Rapid Charge: learn the technique, then perform the Gravel Blast as normal. Stone Storm ----------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 3 The Stone Storm allows Rubble to concentrate the explosion from his Gravel Blast technique in a single direction, mercilessly barraging a target with a hail of rocks. To perfom (sic) the Stone Storm: hold (L) in the direction you wish to fire as you charge the Gravel Blast or Rapid Charge techniques. Spirit Up --------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 1 Increase the size of the spirit bar. History Wotnot Entry ==================== Rubble was recovered by the King of the Sixth Age, when the Elves discovered a remote cave on the peak of a distant mountain. Climbing to the top of this mountain was a difficult and lengthy journey that cost several lives, but the King was at last successful. Rubble ensured that the soil underfoot would always be fertile and produce good, healthy crops. In combat, his abilities helped the Royals to turn the tide of many battles. Those were difficult times, as the Elves struggled to bring peace to the land, but Rubble ensured many victories as his powers trapped bandits under many tons of earth and stone and split the very earth itself to swallow up an approaching army. ======== 6.3 Ash ======== Wotnot Entries for Techniques ============================= Fire Blast ---------- Fire Blast lets Ash release a burning ball of flame from his mouth. The flame travels in a straight line and passes up and over any obstacles it may come across until it eventually burns out. The fireball damages enemies; it can also be used to light torches and ignite anything flammable, including certain Trolls. To perform Fire Blast: pull and hold [RT], use (L) to aim Ash, and then release [RT] to fire. Fire Blaze ---------- The Fire Blaze technique lets Ash produce a continuous stream of flame which
can then be aimed to a limited extent. The flame is most powerful at its tip and can set certain objects alight if it engulfs them for long enough. To perform the Fire Blaze: pull and hold [LT]. In this state, use (L) to somewhat adjust the direction of the flame. Wotnot Entries for Advanced Techniques ====================================== Inferno ------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 2 Inferno greatly increases the length of the flame produced when Ash uses the Fire Blaze technique, but not the duration nor power. This increase discharge allows Ash to hit enemies from a longer distance, keeping him safer while he's discharging. To perform the Inferno, as with the Fire Blaze: pull and hold [LT]. Wildfire -------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 2 Wildfire, an improvement over Ash's Fire Blast technique, fires three fireballs which split up as they travel to cover more ground and strike multiple target -- or a single large target, dealing triple damage. The method of launching these fireballs remains the same -- pull and hold [RT] while aiming with (L) then release. Incinerator ----------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 3 Ash's Incinerator must first be laid, at which point it becomes primed for a short period, and then manually triggered when an unsuspecting Troll is in range. When triggered, nearby Trolls are sucked in and engulfed in a pillar of flame. any Incinerator traps not triggered within a short time will fizzle out and must be relaid. To lay an Incinerator: pull both [LT] and [RT], and pull both again to trigger the trap. Spirit Up --------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 1 Increase the size of the spirit bar. History Wotnot Entry ==================== Shortly after restoring Rubble to the Wotnot Book, the King's new abilities allowed him to reach a stretch of land where plumes of fire rose high into the sky and the ground was black with soot. Hiding in this desolate place was an Elemental Sprite, and when the King braved the heat and searing flames to capture it he discovered that it was Ash, the mighty Elemental Warrior who brought the spark of fire to the land, allowing food to be cooked and homes to be warmed. Ash's powerful flame also allowed the Elves to confuse their enemies with mighty smoke clouds, launching his attack in a shroud of darkness and winning battles before the enemy even knew they had begun. =============== 6.4 Major Ruin =============== Wotnot Entries for Techniques ============================= Boulder Rush ------------ The Boulder Rush is one of Major Ruin's most commonly-used techniques; he builds up power and then spins rapidly forward to vault over gaps and climb up ramps. Boulder Rush can also be used in mid-air, allowing for a second jump, and can be aimed with (L). To perform the Boulder Rush technique: pull and hold [RT] until the move is fully charged, and then released, using (L) to aim while charging. Rock Hop -------- The Rock Hop technique lets Major Ruin climb steps and reach higher ledges with a jump, which can be charged to increase the height that the Major will reach. To perform the Rock Hop: pull and hold [LT] and tilt (L) in the direction you wish to move. Wotnot Entries for Advanced Techniques ====================================== Razor-back ---------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 2 Once equipped with the Razor-back upgrade, Major Ruin's stony shell gains an extra layer of spikes. Spikes increase the damage dealt to any enemies that brush against him. In addition, certain Trolls may become stuck to Major Ruin's shell, and be literally bowled over -- smashing them through crates and other obstructions deals them maximum damage as they lie pinned. Cyclone Spin ------------ Elemental Fruit Cost: 2 The Cyclone Spin is a wild, frenzied assault that sends Major Ruin hurtling in all directions, damaging any Trolls or scenery he comes into contact with. The technique channels so much power that controlling the Major may be tricky. To perform the Cyclone Spin: pull and hold both [LT] and [RT], and guide Major Ruin -- as much as possible -- with (L). Hyper Cyclone Spin ------------------ Elemental Fruit Cost: 3 The Hyper Cyclone Spin can only be acquired when Major Ruin has mastered the Cyclone Spin technique. While the effects remain the same, the power is more easily channeled -- meaning that Major Ruin becomes more easily controllable wile spinning. As a result, attacks against Thorn's forces are easier to direct, as is a quick escape if the Major's spirit bar gets low. Spirit Up --------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 1 Increases the size of the spirit bar. History Wotnot Entry ==================== In the Seventh Age of the Realm, Major Ruin's Elemental Sprite was located in the midst of a barren wasteland, where vegetation was scarce and water in short supply. Major Ruin's elemental powers ensured that cliffs stood firm against the tides and mountains pointed towards the heavens,, keeping the towns and people who made their homes on these rocky peaks free from avalanches and other disasters. In battle, Major ruin was able to pass through fire unscathed to reach his enemies - a common tactic of the Elves, who would trap their enemies in a circle of flame and use Major Ruin to deliver the finishing blow. ============== 6.5 Deep Blue ============== Wotnot Entries for Techniques ============================= Aqua Cannon ----------- Deep Blue's Aqua Cannon technique functions only on dry land and will shoot twin streams of water from his jet-like appendages towards a target. The water from the Aqua Cannon will have different effects depending on the enemy or environment that it his. To use the Aqua Cannon: pull and hold [RT], adjusting the arc of the spray with (R). Hydro Thrust ------------ When underwater, the Hydro Thrust technique allows Deep Blue to gracefully travel under the waves. The move becomes ineffective on land but allows Deep Blue to readily deal with anything lurking below the ocean's surface. To use the Hydro Thrust: pull and hold [LT] while underwater, steering with (L). Aqua Blaster ------------ functioning only while Deep Blue is swimming, the Aqua Blaster launches two torpedoes straight ahead. The torpedoes cause a powerful undersea explosion when they hit something, damaging anything nearby. several sets of torpedoes can be launched simultaneously. To fire torpedoes with the Aqua Blaster: pull [RT] while underwater. Wotnot Entries for Advanced Techniques ====================================== Dragpool -------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 3 Whilst on land, the Dragpool sinks Deep Blue into a puddle-like states and allows him to drag any nearby Trolls to a watery grave. To use the Dragpool technique: pull and hold both [LT] and [RT] when Deep Blue is on dry terrain. Slick Jet --------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 2 The Slick Jet gives Beep Blue a supply of oil with which to douse his enemies or make the ground slippery. Once a Troll is coated in oil, any fire that strikes it will result in a devastating -- and Brutal -- explosion. The Slick Jet can be launched while Deep Blue is on land by pulling and holding [LT], tilting (R) to angle the attack. Splash Down ----------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 2 The Splash Down technique caused Deep Blue to dissolve into a liquid form with just his tentacles protruding. This allows him to slip easily between enemies and evade most attacks; it also has some additional uses: - [LT] or [RT] can snatch a nearby foe. - If the tentacle is holding an enemy, pulling [LT] or [RT] will slam the enemy into the ground. - If both tentacles are grasping an enemy, pulling both [LT] and [RT] will perform a Grandslam move, knocking both enemies together. Spirit Up --------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 1 Increases the size of the spirit bar. History Wotnot Entry ==================== A severe storm had destroyed most of an Elfin entourage as they returned from across the sea, and the Queen of the Tenth age found herself cast adrift on a distant shore... but not alone, as this desert isle was home to an Elemental Sprite. The Queen had clung to the Wotnot Book like a lifeline even as her fleet faced destruction and was able to capture this sprite, discovering it to be Deep Blue. Deep Blue's abilities kept the rivers and oceans of the land pure and free from disease, as well as providing the Queen with a way back to civilization and her people. =========== 6.6 Chilla =========== Wotnot Entries for Techniques ============================= Aim --- Aiming plants Chilla on the sport and leave him able to concentrate on precision attacks, even on faraway enemies, as well as allowing him to get a better view of his surroundings. To Aim: pull [LT] while moving normally. When aiming, pull [LT] to begin moving once more. Ice Spike --------- When aiming, Chilla can remove some ammunition from his back and hurl it towards a distant target to take it out. If Chilla has a Troll on his Back, he'll throw it. Failing that, Chilla will remove one of the spikes from his own back. To throw an ice spear or Troll: pull [RT[ whilst aiming. Ice Pick -------- When near an ice-covered surface, Chilla can use spears from his back and start to climb using the Ice Pick technique. Whilst climbing, Chilla can bound quickly across the wall in one of four directions, or choose to let go and drop some distance, reattaching to the wall if he chooses. To start the Ice Pick technique: pull [LT] to grab onto the wall, pulling [LT] again to let go. Whilst on the wall, user (L) to move and, while moving, pull [RT] to jump in that direction. SpikeBack --------- When moving normally, the SpikeBack technique allows Chilla to grab a nearby enemy and impale them upon his spiky back. Once the enemy is impaled, it becomes a useful weapon: - It can be used as ammunition whilst aiming. - It can be hurled as you move by pulling [RT]. - The enemy can be picked from Chill's back for use as a melee weapon by pulling both [LT] and [RT]. - While in Chilla's hands as a melee weapon, the enemy can be swung like a club with a pull of [RT]. To grab a Troll with the SpikeBack technique: pull [RT] while moving normally and facing a suitable victim. Wotnot Entries for Advanced Techniques ====================================== Deep Chill ---------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 2 Deep Chill lets Chilla charge up an ice spear from his back until it is cold enough to instantly freeze any enemy it hits. The frozen enemy then waits helplessly for Kameo to finish it with another attack or face an icy death some moments later. To use Deep Chill: pull and hold [LT] and [RT] while aiming. Spike Storm ----------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 2 The Spike Storm technique summons a cascade of icy shards out of thin air, which fall to earth around Chilla and stun any enemies they hit. Chilla is unable to move while the shower is in progress. To use the Spike Storm technique: pull and hold both [LT] and [RT] while moving normally. Slam Hammer ----------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 3 When Chilla has an enemy in his hands as a melee weapon and wishes to dispose of them quickly, the Slam Hammer provides a finish so spectacular it earns a Brutal Bonus -- Chilla slams the Troll into the ground, leaving it helpless. To use the Slam Hammer, Chilla must have first grabbed an enemy using the SpikeBack technique and be using it as a melee weapon -- then pulling both [LT] and [RT] will perform the Slam Hammer. Spirit Up --------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 1 Increases the size of the spirit bar. History Wotnot Entry ==================== The shipwreck of the Tenth Age had scattered the Queen's entourage near and far during a return voyage, and a group of elite guards were forced to return to the Enchanted Kingdom through a cold and distant forest. Snow weighed heavily on the thick branches and constant storms obscured sight, but many of the guards reported that they had seen a tiny scurrying figure in the blizzard. Only when the Queen later returned to this forest with her warrior could this mystery finally be solved - the guards had been accompanied by another Elemental Sprite. When captured, this sprite was restored to its true identity: Chilla, whose powers kept the winter winds fresh and crisp. ========= 6.7 Flex ========= Wotnot Entries for Techniques ============================= Smack ----- With Smack, Flex will deliver a blow from his tentacles to the enemy -- a succession of blows will unleash his slap-down combo. To Smack: pull [RT] while moving normally. Sucka Shot ---------- For the most part, Sucka Shot is used to drag Trolls towards Flex, wrapped up in his tentacles. In certain cases, it will also allow Flex to grapple onto a distant target and haul himself towards it. To quickly unleash a Sucka Shot: pull [LT] and [RT]. To aim beforehand: hold the triggers and then release. Flingshot --------- Flingshot will catapult a Troll that Flex is holding great distances, hurling it into Trolls or any other obstacles and dealing damage as a result. To Flingshot: first pick up a Troll using the Sucka Shot Technique, then pull and hold [LT] to stretch back... Releasing [LT] will initiate the attack. Sucka Slam ---------- When an enemy is held in Flex's Tentacles, use of the Sucka Slam technique will stretch Flex high into the air. Coming down to earth with a spine- crunching bump, Flex pounds the helpless Troll against the ground. To use Sucka Slam: pull and hold [RT] to rise into the air, then release to execute the final phase of this vicious attack. Wotnot Entries for Advanced Techniques ====================================== Shocker ------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 2 Once charged, Shocker will delver a killer blow of electricity to a foe in Flex's Clutches, dealing it massive damage and filling the air with the smell of charred Troll. To successfully use Shocker: first capture a Troll with Sucka Shot and then pull and hold [LT] and [RT] to charge the move and start the jolt. Slapstorm --------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 2 The Slapstorm technique roots Flex to the sport, and allows him to stretch his form in all directions as he slaps wildly. Any enemies caught in this flurry of tentacle trauma will suffer heavy damage and be knocked away. To use Slapstorm: pull and hold [LT] to start slapping, and then tilt (L) to stretch Flex's Body in a direction. Super Shocker ------------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 3 This upgrade to Flex's shocker technique, once acquired, will greatly decrease the time necessary to finish off a Troll. Super Shocker is performed in the same way as Shocker -- pull and hold [LT] -- but you must have already acquired Shocker before upgrading it. Spirit Up --------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 1 Increases the size of the spirit bar. History Wotnot Entry ==================== The King of the Twelfth Age was known for his avarice and eagerly collected the world's many treasures even as he searched for the Elemental Warriors. Hearing tell of a secret cavern full of smugglers' gold, the King and his warriors eagerly set out to claim whatever the cave contained as their own - ignoring warnings from many villagers, who believed the cave to be haunted. Reaching this hidden treasure cave, the King felt sure that he was not alone. Resolving that he and his warriors had nothing to fear, he pressed on into the cave and discovered that the so-called haunting was actually an Elemental Sprite, the greatest treasure of all. Flex was restored to the Wotnot Book that day; his powers ensured that rain fell to water the grasses and feed the fertile crops. ============= 6.8 40 Below ============= Wotnot Entries for Techniques ============================= Frostbite --------- Frostbite will leave an enemy out in the cold; the technique allows 40 Below to deliver an icy blast from his mouth which damages any Trolls in reach. To use Frostbit: pull and hold [RT] while moving normally -- tilting (L) will aim the attack. Snowball -------- This technique allows 40 Below to magically summon an enormous, spiky snowball, a gateway to other potent attacks. To create an snowball: pull and hold both [LT] and [RT] as you move normally. Wrecker Ball ------------ When 40 Below is holding a snowball in his hands, Wrecker Ball will start him spinning. 40 Below can then Bounce hordes of enemies into oblivion, whirling into them at high speed. To use the Wrecker Ball: first summon a snowball and then pull [RT]. Once the spin begins, the direction in which 40 Below moves can be controlled by tilting (L). Wotnot Entries for Advanced Techniques ====================================== Snow Blower ----------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 2 The Snow Blower lets 40 Below unleash a hail of icy ammunition upon Thorn's armies, peppering them with damaging shots. To use the Snow Blower technique: pull and hold [LT] while moving normally. While firing, tilt (L) to aim. Snow Roller ----------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 2 The Snow Roller technique will send Thorn's forces reeling as a summoned snowball is bowled across the floor towards them, mowing down anything in its path. A direct strike will ensure Trolls have little health to spare. To use Snow Roller: summon a snowball and then pull [LT] to fire in the direction you're facing. Ice Quake --------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 3 Icequake smashes 40 Below's summoned snowball into the ground, sending out an icy shockwave that will damage nearby enemies and definitely give them cold feet. To use the Ice quake technique: summon a snowball, then pull both [LT] and [RT]. Spirit Up --------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 1 Increases the size of the spirit bar. History Wotnot Entry ==================== The Queen of the Thirteenth Age, though blessed with kindness, was fated to take the throne for but a few years before her body succumbed to the ravages of illness. In her brief reign she was credited with many good deeds, the most noble of which saw her venture out alone in a snowstorm. Whilst attending a summit in a tribal village, the Queen overheard the distressed mutterings of the child's family, and would hear no argument - she braved the ravaging weather with her Elemental Warriors and returned triumphantly with the child held safe in her arms. In gratitude, the villagers revealed to her a long-held secret... an Elemental Sprite which they had safeguarded through the generations. This sprite was, in fact, 40 Below - warrior whose magic kept the ice at bay in spring and ensured a cleansing winter. ========== 6.9 Snare =========== Wotnot Entries for Techniques ============================= Bite ---- The Bite technique cause Snare to lunge forward, grasping a hapless Troll in his jaws and leaving him to dangle like a chew toy, dealing damage and slowly draining spirit energy. To use Bite: face in the direction of your impromptu snack and pull [RT]. Spit Baddy ---------- Any Troll in Snare's jaws can be expelled with a salivary excretion -- spat out, in other words. The unfortunate Troll will hurtle across the landscape until they strike something, causing damage to themselves and anyone else they encounter. To spit out an enemy: first Bite it and then pull [RT] while facing in the direction you wish to spit. Root Tremor ----------- Whilst in motion or with his mouth full, Snare can attack oncoming enemies by summoning a trail of tree roots that clear the way ahead. The roots will bowl over any enemy that they encounter, and their deep-seated base can even uncover enemies lurking underground. To use Root Tremor: pull [LT] while moving normally. Root ---- Snare's Root technique is primarily a defensive attack; when rooted to the spot, Snare can swing his oversized head around his body with (L), knocking over all but the sturdiest enemies. When rooted, Snare can also throw certain objects by building up a back-and-forth motion. To use the Root technique: pull [LT] and [RT] while moving normally. Roam ---- When Snare is rooted to the spot, pulling [LT] and [RT] will allow him to retract his roots and return to moving normally. Wotnot Entries for Advanced Techniques ====================================== Lockjaw ------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 3 Any Troll dangling from Snare's mouth will be tossed high into the air with the Lockjaw technique -- with his jaws wide open, Snare then positions himself underneath the descending fore so that the Troll will disappear into his mouth. To devour a Troll with Lockjaw: Bit your target and then pull [LT] to complete the kill. Toxic Bile ---------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 2 When rooted, Snare can concentrate his acidic nature and unleash the Toxic Bile technique. When discharged, Toxic Bile spews poison over any Trolls unlucky enough to be nearby. To master Toxic Bile: root to the spot, and then pull and hold [RT]. The direction of upheaval can be controlled with (L). Rootquake --------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 2 The Rootquake upgrade greatly increases the distance that the Root Tremor attack can travel before dissipating, allowing Snare to strike further and stay safer while executing the technique. Spirit Up --------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 1 Increases the size of the spirit bar. History Wotnot Entry ==================== As the King of the Twelfth Age greedily sought for wealth and treasures across the land, his travels led him into the darkest, densest jungle of the land. One by one his guards fell victim to the heat, the foliage or to wild beasts and yet the king - aided by his many Elemental Warriors - pressed on alone. Eventually, the King arrived at the ruins of an ancient Sargothan temple. This long-lost race of soothsayers had little treasure to offer, but the temple was home to another Elemental Sprite. Once restored to the Wotnot Book its identity was clear: it was Snare, whose elemental might kept the coking weeds and poisonous nettles at bay so that healthy plants could grow. ============= 6.10 Thermite ============= Wotnot Entries for Techniques ============================= Mortar ------ The Mortar technique prepares Thermite to fire his wide array of bombs and allows for a strafing, side-to-side movement-- especially useful when attempting to avoid incoming fire. To toggle Mortar: pull [LT]. Firecracker ----------- This technique will release a spray of tiny firecrackers from Thermite's magma bowl with enough force to jerk him backwards. The firecrackers will detonate individually, and their spiky edges will stick them to Trolls, juggling them in a series of painful mini-explosions. To use Firecracker: pull [RT] whilst moving normally. Lava Bomb --------- Whilst using Mortar, the Lava Bomb technique will fire a magma grenade in an arc from Thermite's bowl. The grenade will explode shortly after and the powerful blast can take down armored foes, obstructions - even rocks and stones! To use Lava Bomb: switch to Mortar and pull [RT], adjusting the arc with (R). Blast Shield ------------ Blast Shield renders Thermite invulnerable from all that the Trolls can throw at you, including explosions, fire and other hazardous surfaces. Be careful: running out of spirit energy in a dangerous situation could leave even Thermite felling hot-tempered. To use Blast Shield: pull and hold both [LT] and [RT]. Wotnot Entries for Advanced Techniques ====================================== Fire Burst ---------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 2 This upgrade to Thermite's Lava Bombs will leave behind a pool of Troll- singeing fire in their wake, even after the explosion has dissipated. The flames will linger for several seconds. Atom Splitter ------------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 2 With Atom Splitter, the powerful advanced technique that affects Thermite's Lava Bomb, a single bomb will split into several smaller segments which then, in turn, explode. The resultant blast covers a wider area and deals more damage to any nemesis caught in the wake. Backblast --------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 3 Backblast will create a vortex in front of Thermite's magma bowl, which can be directed by aiming the Mortar technique. Any Troll caught in this vortex will be dragged, slowly but surely, towards Thermite until they become wedged helplessly. Once trapped, they can be blasted out of the bowl in a fiery explosion. To use Backblast: switch to mortar, pull and hold both [LT] and [RT] until a Troll has been successfully sucked up, then pull RT to detonate your prey. Spirit Up --------- Elemental Fruit Cost: 1 Increases the size of the spirit bar. History Wotnot Entry ==================== Solon, King of the Fifteenth Age, was journeying far from home and so devoted to the recovery of the warriors, he plunged into the raging heart of a fiery volcano to retrieve the Elemental Sprite. The reward for his bravery and obsession was Thermite, the mighty warrior whose elemental forces kept the heart of the planet itself a raging firestorm - bringing warmth to protect life itself. Solon was able to use this final warrior and the now-completed Wotnot Book to quell a Troll insurrection, banishing the Trolls and ushering in a new era of peace. It was Solon who commanded the Chamber of Living Portraits be constructed as a memorial to the war, and to the struggle he and his forefathers had endured. ****************************************************************************** 7. If you can stomach it, each vial will not only completely restore you health, but increase your maximum energy levels, too. Apparently they're difficult to make and should only be used in emergencies, but if I were you I'd drink down any that you find -- if nothing else, it'll undoubtedly annoy the old crone. However, their offensive capability is weakened. Location: In the center of the floor above the ground level of the Ancient Tower in the Enchanted Kingdom. Halis ----- Wotnot Entry: Halis is the youngest of Theena's siblings and is capable of some surprisingly powerful magic. From their first meeting, Halis and King Solon became fast friends and the two would often train and travel together as Solon continued his search for the Elemental Warriors. Location: Defeat Old Mawood. Lenya ----- Wotnot Entry: Lenya, Thenna's older sister, is happy to leave the supervision of the Kingdom to the rest of her family and concentrate instead on maintaining good relations with the tribes. To this end, Lenya can usually be found trying to keep everyone happy, organizing banquets and leading celebrations whenever possible. Location: Defeat Corallis Yeros ----- Wotnot Entry: Oldest of Theena's Relations, Yeros has a deep love for storytelling, an almost limitless capacity for anecdotes and tales of his youth - often slightly embellished - and would gladly regale young Kameo and Kalus with these stories at any opportunity. Yeros is also a shrew judge of character and was one of the few Elves capable of looking past Thorn's appearance... seeing the potential for deceit. Location: Defeat Queen Thyra Theena ------ There's a fourth relative to rescue in the final mission that is listed in the Wotnot Book. Theena, Queen of the Elves, is the mother of Kameo and Kalus and is the Wife of the late King Solon.
