Welcome to the first guide I have ever written for GameFAQs. As of this writing, I have played through BoDVII 3 times, twice on Normal and once on Hard, and am currently working my way through Score Attack mode. Finding the leveling system intriguing and noticing that no guides existed yet, I decided to catalog and share everything I could on the four main characters, from their various choices when leveling to the functions and locations of their equipment. A few things about my notations before we get going : A '+' denotes an improved version of the ability, acquired from leveling up. (A) or (B) denote different versions of an ability. You will be required to choose one of these versions when you attain the ability. If two abilities are stacked together on the leveling tables, it means one of them will be offered depending on choices you made earlier. For example, you'll see that Dem will choose between Fire Flurry or Fireball at level 5. At level 15, he will be able to upgrade his chosen move in one of two ways. I hope you find this guide as useful as I will in future playthroughs! =============================================================================== | General Tips [02.00]| |=============================================================================| * Plan ahead. It can be easy to mess up your characters your first few times through the game (especially Lita!). Hard mode will become impossible if you make too many bad decisions. In general, it is better to focus each character toward either magic or physical damage, rather than splitting their stat-ups between the two. * Most (if not all) of the equipment you can purchase in the shops can be found in dungeon chests. If you already own the item in question, the chest will instead contain either gold or potions. The only exception I've noticed is the SMG; there is a chest in the cave maze south of Motherbound that will yield an SMG whether you already have one or not. * If the dungeons seem too difficult for you, find a save point and use the "Fight" command continuously, utilizing the MP restoring properties of the save point between battles. The basic strategy in this build was to make my team into boss killers. I spent several rounds layering on buffs, then worked toward a quick high combo to power up Deathblow. Some things I might have changed : *LITA should have been built to deal magic damage. The physical/ support build was a failed experiment. While it's true she was exceptional in random battles, she dealt next to no damage to bosses. *DEM would have benefitted more from Fireball than Fire Flurry. The idea was to use Flurry to build the combo count toward a devastating Deathblow, but early battles never lasted long enough, and later in the game Blade Dance was far more effective. *SARA was the most important character in the group. Escape saved my hide dozens of times in hard mode, and I rarely needed a potion thanks to her revive abilities (if she died, we were pretty much all dead). *ERIK served up some excellent support. Regeneration+ is invaluable, especially against Dragonduck, and both his techniques deal ridiculous damage. *Despite his high physical damage, DEM also makes a great support character. He spent the first five rounds of the Dragonduck battle buffing the party and himself, which is what made victory possible. *Scorned Love is the best unite for this build. Relic also helped LITA keep up with the others' damage output (Sniper Shot was doing over 1k), though ultimately I used Drain Life more.
