Real Name: Thor Odinson Occupation: Warrior, Adventurer Abilities: Trained as a warrior, Thor excels at hand-to-hand combat, sword fighting, and throw techniques. With his otherworldly stamina and superhuman strength, ordinary attacks have no effect on him. Weapons: Thor wields Mjolnir, a hammer forged from uru metal. Mjolnir is virtually unbreakable and allows Thor to command the powers of the storm; rain, thunder and lightning. Profile: Thor is the son of Odin, ruler of Asgard, the home of the gods. Known as the strongest warrior in Asgard, his prideful ways were reformed after spending time living as a human. Currently, he is a member of the Earth's mightiest heroes, the Avengers. First Appearance: Journey into Mystery #83 (1962) ACTUAL Intelligence | 2/7 Strength | 7/7 Speed | 7/7 Stamina | 6/7 Energy Projection | 6/7 Fighting Ability | 4/7 -------------------------- 1.2) Extended Profile -------------------------- This part is all coming off my recollection of the character from the original stories he is apart of. Careful, there will be spoilers. In Norse mythology Thor is the god of thunder, among other things, and is one of the sons of Odin, the All-Father and creator of man. His weapon of choice is the hammer, Mjolnir, and little can stand before his might. If I'm not mistaken his death marks the start of Ragnarok, the Norse's version of the end of days. As far as his role in comics and his standing among the Avengers are concerned I don't have the slightest clue. I know he is among the most powerful heroes in existence because... he's the only superhero who is a fully fledged god. The only other gods that appear in MVC3 are Amaterasu, Dormammu, and the recent DLC character Shuma Gorath. -------------------------- 1.3) Alternate Costumes -------------------------- Costume 1 (X): Standard - This is how he is depicted and appears throughout our culture Costume 2 (Tri): White with Orange Cape - A holy look to the god of thunder. Intimidating to behold. Costume 3 (Sqr): Blue with Red Cape - I don't know what to say, but he pulls off the look. Costume 4 (R1): Black with Red Cape - An incredibly imposing version of the god of thunder. His white under armor in his standard costume is now gold. -------------------------- 1.4) In-Game Dialogue -------------------------- This section contains notable dialogue the character says during battle. Things like him shouting a character's name is omitted unless he refers to the character in a special way. Also, sayings directed at him by characters that are unique are also written down. Can be stopped at any time you wish. ------------------------------------ 2.4) Hyper Combos ------------------------------------ Mighty Tornado (236+atk atk) in air OK - Thor unleashes a torrent of energy around him in the shape of a tornado. Hits 15 times and launches enemies away. Mighty Thunder (623+atk atk) - After raising his hammer to the sky he slams it on the ground with amazing vigor, causing a chain of massive thunderbolts to rip across the screen and carry the enemy away. Effects floored enemies. Mighty Punish (63214+atk atk) - Thor grabs the enemy and smashes him/her with his hammer, sending the foe off screen. Seconds later the enemy falls back to earth and slams onto the ground with a strike of lightning brought by Mjolnir. Deals tremendous damage for a level 1, but is virtually impossible to pull off against a live opponent. ============================================================================= 3.0) Strategies ============================================================================= In this section I will cover what combos I have developed that makes him a formidable character. The first sub-section covers specific combos I have performed that are either very flashy or incredibly devastating or useful. The second section is meant to set up basic combos with him when he is the only character you have left. ------------------------------------ 3.1) Team Hyper Combos ------------------------------------ Thor is a great substitute for close range characters, but only two of his three hyper combos can be comboed into (Mighty Punish cannot be chained with any move in the game). Below is a list of hyper combo chains he does well in. Zero [Rekkoha] --> Mighty Tornado Ryu [Shinku Tatsuma...] --> Mighty Tornado Spencer [Bionic Maneuvers] --> Mighty Tornado - AS THE LAST HIT CONNECTS cancel into Thor Spencer [Bionic Lancer] --> Mighty Tornado/Mighty Thunder - ON IMPACT cancel into Thor. Mighty Thunder is a beast the closer your back was to a wall. X-23 [Weapon X Prime] --> Mighty Tornado/Mighty Thunder - cancel into Thor after the last hit. Mighty Thunder does more damage the farther you push the enemy back with it. Captain America [Hyper Charging Star] --> Mighty Tornado - Can only be done if you did HCS to an enemy you are juggling and cancel into Thor before the enemy gets too low, but does a lot of damage. An easy combo is 2+L, 2+M, 2+H, 236+H, delay, Hyper charging star Dr Doom [Sphere Flame] --> Mighty Thunder - As sphere flame carries the enemy into the sky, cancel at the right time so that Thor's sparks start hitting just after the bomb explodes for max effectiveness. ------------------------------------ 3.2) Solo Battle ------------------------------------ Thor is an awkward solo fighter because he lacks the combo-ative nature of character like Wesker and Dante, but he compensates by dealing tremendous damage. Most missions are straight forward, but for some characters beating a mission requires rediculously perfect timing and if I have completed them this section will be useful to those who are stumped. Ones I've Completed: 1-9 Ones I have not completed: 10 Mission 1 - Attack using Mighty Spark Solution: 236+H Mission 2 - Attack using Mighty Hurricane Solution: 63214+L Mission 3 - Perform a combo using a cancel Solution: 2+L, 2+M, 623+H Mission 4 - Perform a combo using a hyper combo cancel Solution: air H, 2+L, 2+H, 623+M, 623+atk atk Strategy: jump into the air and hit with air H just before you land and finish the combo. Mission 5 - Perform an air combo Solution: 2+L, 2+H, S, air M, air M, air H, air S, Mission 6 - Perform a combo beginning with Mighty Hurricane Solution: 63214+L, S, air M, air M, air H, air S Mission 7 - Perform a combo using a hyper combo cancel Solution: 2+L, 2+H, S, air M, air M, air H, air 421+M, air 236+atk atk Strategy: This combo is a lot easier than it may look, but the trick is finding a comfortable way to input 421+M and cancel into Mighty Tornado. Mission 8 - Perform a cross-over assist combo (corner only) Solution: air S, 2+L, 2+M, S, air M, air M, air H, air S, P2, 623+H, 623+M, 236+atk atk Strategy: After spiking the enemy from the air combo call in the assist character while you input 623+H, causing you to blast the enemy off the ground as you land and follow up with 623+M before your assist character stops juggling the enemy. Mission 9 - Perform a cross-over assist combo (corner only) Solution: air H, 2+L, 2+H, S, air M, air M, air H, air S, P1, 421+M (hold), S, air H, air S Strategy: Using partner 1 to pick up the enemy into your fully charged 421+M, then, after letting the enemy fall into range, finish off the combo. Mission 10 - Perform a special combo Solution: air H, air 421+M, M, S, air M, air M, air H, air S, 623+H (hold), 236+atk atk Strategy: jump into the air and tip the enemy with air H and cancel into 421+M and continue the combo from there.
