I got this game a few days ago and I have had a fun time with it. The singleplayer is a short campaign and the puzzles are half the fun but every game needs at least one walkthrough. My wife and I are currently making our way through local co-op which has some different puzzles. There will almost certainly be multiple updates to this guide in the very near future. I also hope to include tips on completely the various inter-game challenges the game throws at you such as collecting the red skulls and Challenge Tombs but for now this is a walkthrough, point A-B. Any items mentioned are those that are pretty close to your route. Exploring and solving the puzzles are a huge part of the fun so I'll leave those until last. _______________________________________________________________________________ Table of Contents-------------------------------------------------------------- _______________________________________________________________________________ Version History [01] FAQ Notes [02] Single Player Campaign [03] - Level 1: Temple of Light .................... Almost every level in the game is set on a specific view. Throughout the walkthrough I use compass directions to guide you. Most of these are the four secondary directions, Northwest, Northeast, Southeast, Southwest that represent the general path you can take based on the camera angle. Speed Run - There's no real secret to achieving the timed objectives on each level. General tips include equipping the end of the game items that boost all your attributes, rolling instead of running (Slightly faster) and ignoring instead of fighting enemies whenever you can. In the walkthrough I'll point out a few places to reduce your time when I come across them. _______________________________________________________________________________ Single Player Campaign [03]---------------------------------------------------- _______________________________________________________________________________ The single player campaign of Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is short and features Lara searching for a mysterious mirror. When mercenaries remove the mirror, they release the evil demon Xolotl who takes the mirror and prepares to summon an army of creatures to conquer the world. At the same time the Guardian of Light, Totec, is awoken and together he and Lara struggle to return the mirror and defeat Xolotl. This is all you need to know about the story which is not really important. In the single player campaign, Totec gives Lara his golden spear and takes a separate path leaving Lara to make her way alone. In the co-op campaign, Lara and Totec work together to chase Xolotl. _______________________________________________________________________________ Level 1: Temple of Light [L1ToL]----------------------------------------------- _______________________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------ Score Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ 100,000 Points 130,000 Points 160,000 Points (Magnums) ------------------------------------------------------------ Reward Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ Collect 10 Red Skulls ......................................... (Stone Arrow) Reach the exit in 6:00 or less ........................ (Headress of Ehecatl) Jump between 7 Spider pots without touching the ground ..... (Health Powerup) Disable Xolotl's firetrap in under 00:30 ..........................(Clay Owl) Destroy all the Urns ......................................... (Ammo Powerup) ------------------------------------------------------------ Open the door by detonating a mine near each gear-like structure on either side of the door. Follow the path to an area with breakable urns. Use your weapon to destroy them all. Red Skull #1 is in the urn partially hidden by the southwest wall. Follow the path up the stairs and detonate a mine next to the arrow-shooting barrels to destroy them. Follow the path to reach a cutscene where you get the Spear of the Gods. Kill the enemies and then run through the door. Red Skull #2 is here. Destroy the arrow-shooting barrel with a bomb to get it then step on the pressure plate to open the door. In the next room throw a spear at the wall, jump on it then climb the ledge to the healing fountain. Past the fountain, use the stairs to reach the ledge on the right and grapple the gold ring. Jump across the gap and pull yourself up to the ledge. Step on the pressure plate and grab Red Skull #3 then continue SE to reach the open door. Follow the path and fight through the enemies, blow the TNT pile with your guns then run up the stairs into the next room. Pull back on the gold lever to open the door. In the next room stand on the top platform and throw a spear into the wall across from you. Jump to it, grab Red Skull #4 then climb up to the next ledge. Grab your first artifact, the Clay Arrow then activate the gold lever and run out the door to the SE into the next room. In this room climb the ladder on the right, grab Red Skull #5 and roll the two stone balls onto the pressure plate switches on the far left side of the room to open the door. At this point you should be at over 100,000 points if you haven't died yet. In the next room jump without falling to all 7 spider pots to complete the Reward Challenge and grab Red Skull #6. The health powerup you get will give you the Overachiever trophy. Use the gold ring to wall run and jump over to the next ledge. There are two ways to disable the trap, the safe way and the time limited way to complete one of this level's Reward Challenges. ------------------------------------------------------------ Reward Challenge: Disable Xolotl's Firetrap in 30 Seconds ------------------------------------------------------------ |Run into the room. Roll left and push the ball clockwise onto the NE |pressure plate. Roll counter-clockwise to reach the SW gold lever. You should |have just enough time to pull it back before the fire reaches you. Make sure |you wait until the last minute to pull the leve all the way. As soon as the |trap switches direction roll clock-wise to reach the ball and pull it back to |the NW pressure plate. Keep rolling counter-clockwise until you reach the SE |gold lever and activate it to disable the trap. ------------------------------------------------------------ Safe Way - Disable Xolotl's Firetrap ------------------------------------------------------------ |Run to the left and roll the ball to pressure plate pointing NE. Then pull |the gold lever directly across from it. The fire will now switch directions |so run back, grab the ball and push it to the pressure plate on the NW. |Follow the fire to reach the gold lever pointing SE and pull it to |disable the trap. In the next room, grab Red Skull #7 then step on the pressure plate and jump across the gap. To get Red Skull #8 floating near the door, roll the stone ball under it. Then jump on the ball, create a spear platform from atop the ball, then jump up to get the skull. Now run through the door to the NW. In this room, run and jump straight ahead off the ledge you are on. In mid-air, hit the grapple button to grab the gold ring and land on the wall. To get Red Skull #9 wall run while hanging then pull yourself up. Turn and grapple the gold ring above the floating health powerup and wall run to grab Wall run and jump back to the ledge with the switch. Shoot the switch and place a mine on it. You can blow up the arrow shooting barrels with a mine but it's not necessary. Run through the door to the SW then trigger the mine to open the door directly in front of you to the SW to trigger a cutscene. Defeat the enemies. In this room you'll see a Challenge Tomb to the NW. I will give you the solution for each Tomb but you can skip them if you want to try them yourself which I recommend. ------------------------------------------------------------ Challenge Tomb #1-1 ------------------------------------------------------------ |Trigger the switch then create a spear platform along the NE wall and jump up |to reach the health powerup. To cross the gap, create two spear platforms |along the wall over the spikes and jump across the gap. You can aim the spear |by placing the little golden dot where you want to make the platform. To reach |the ammo powerup behind the switch, create a spear platform and jump up. To |exit the room, trip the switch then place a mine. When you are past the gate |closest to you, detonate the mine and walk out the way you came. ------------------------------------------------------------ Run up the stairs to the SE and destroy the urns on the landing. If you have destroyed all the urns to this point, you will complete the Reward Challenge. Keep going to reach the next area. Follow the path past the two enemies and you'll see a Challenge Tomb to the NE. ------------------------------------------------------------ Challenge Tomb #1-2 ------------------------------------------------------------ |Use your weapon to trip the switch then roll the ball onto the pressure plate |on the NW wall. Cross the grap on the platforms that appear and place a mine |on the switch. Trip the switch with your weapon then roll the stone ball next |to the first one. Detonate the mine then roll one ball onto each pressure |plate. Now you can easily jump the gap to grab the powerup and destroy the |arrow-shooting barrels. Exit the way you came in. ------------------------------------------------------------ Turn NW and climb the stairs to get your first relic, the Knife of Itzli. Enter the next room. Pull the gold lever then jump on the platforms that appear to cross the gap to reach the moving wall. Hurry forward to grab Red Skull #10 and obtain the Seeing Red trophy. If you have made it through the level without dying, you can grab all the gems here to reach 160,000 points and complete the Score Challenge that will net you the Magnums and the Breadwinner Trophy. Now climb the first two ledges of the moving wall. Then create spear platforms and jump up the third and fourth ledges of the moving wall. Finally wait on the edge of the last ledge for it to extend enough then grapple the gold ring at the top to pull yourself up. When you reach the ledge, run forward and jump past the gold ring onto a new ledge and run out the door to the next level. _______________________________________________________________________________ Level 2: Temple Grounds [L2TG]------------------------------------------------- _______________________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------ Score Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ 100,000 200,000 300,000 (Automatic Shotgun) ------------------------------------------------------------ Reward Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ Collect 10 Red Skulls .................... (Golden Scepter of Huitzilopochtli) Open the Spider Tomb in 5:00 or less .............................. (Gold Owl) Cross the River without touching the water .................. (Health Powerup) Find and defeat the Giant Demon Lizard ........................ (Ammo Powerup) Destroy All the Trucks ......................................... (Clay Lizard) ------------------------------------------------------------ You emerge from the Temple of Light and are surrounded by crates, stairs and bodies. Go SW down the stairs and explore the area as much as you want. Go immediatelly to the NW of the stairs to find a little area with Red Skull #1. If you take the path immediately SE of the stiars, you will find an altar with enemies and Red Skull #2. When you get near the area lit by fires you will trigger a cutscene. Defeat the enemies by blowing up the cars and crates and mopping up the rest. You can also begin the Reward Challenge of blowing up all the trucks. You can find 2 trucks here, one right before the bridge to the next area, one directly behind where you started after the cutscene. Head NW onto the bridge and jump across the gap to land the lower ledge. Make a spear platform on the wall to climb up to the other side. Do the same on the stone head to reach Red Skull #3. At the end of the bridge you'll trigger a cutscene at the Temple of Spiders From the temple, run to the SW and follow the path clockwise. When you reach the first torch, turn south and follow the path. Explore this area to find the Bolt Action Rifle in a little courtyard to the SE. To the SW you will see a structure of five pillars arranged in a cross formation. To get the ammo upgrade on the tallest pillar, jump on the one in the center and create a spear platform on the SW pillar. Jump on the platform and up to the pillar then turn and create a spear platform on the tallest pillar to the NE. Jump to the NW pillar then to spear platform you just made to reach the tallest pillar and the ammo upgrade. Go back the path and continue along it clock-wise and turn right when you reach a gold plate set in the floor. Go SW through the arch and down the stairs defeating the enemies that appear. Truck #3 is near the base of the stairs to the NW. After defeating the enemies continue on to the SW and follow the bridge. Once you get to the broken section you can jump off for some to get some items and find a Challenge Tomb to the SW. Red Skull #4 is on top of the Challenge Tomb. To reach it, run up the inclined pillar and jump onto the upright one then make the leap to the roof of the Challenge Tomb. ------------------------------------------------------------ Challenge Tomb: #2-1 ------------------------------------------------------------ |To reach the Clay Owl on top of the pillar, stand at the top of the stairs |and create a spear platform near the top of the pillar. Descend the stairs and |create a second platform closer to the ground. You then jump from one platform |to another to reach the top then exit the Tomb. ------------------------------------------------------------ Return to the bridge and jump the gap to continue on. In the next area, turn NW to reach the wall that leads to the Sun Disc. If you explore the area to the SE you will run into a lot of enemies and the Giant Demon Lizard listed as a Reward Challenge. If you use the Bolt Action Rifle it only takes a few hits. To reach the health power up on the pillar, head to the firelit area with the rocks to the NE and roll the spiky ball that falls down to the far left pillar. Jump on the ball and face the pillar with the powerup. Create a spear platform on this pillar from the top of the ball then jump on it to reach the the Health Powerup. Return to the big wall along the NE side of the area. To reach the Sun Disc you saw from the bridge, follow the stone path NE to the firelit wall. Grapple the gold ring and wall run and jump to the next ledge then make a spear platform to jump up to the ledge with the sun disc. Either go back the long way past the lizards and over the bridge or fall off the platform to NW and run on the ground to the small ledge next to the bridge mentioned earlier. Follow the bridge back to the NW and then NE until you return to the gold plate set in the ground near the temple. Follow the path clockwise to a second gold circle set in the ground. Cross the broken bridge and fight the enemies in the river. There is a health powerup hiding under the SE part of the broken bridge. To the SW of the bridge in the water is Red Skull #5. Go to the left when you get to the far bank past a healing fountain to see Red Skull#6 on a pillar. You can reach it by either standing on the small pillar to the NE and making a spear platform, or rolling the spiky ball you saw near the bridge over to the pillar and jumping onto it. If you run to the NE along the bank you will see a series of stone platforms. Jump across the river using these platforms to complete the Reward Challenge, Cross the River Without Touching the Water. Red Skull #7 is under a waterfall to the NE here. There may be some enemies here but you can ignore them if you move quickly. Return to the broken bridge and go NW to reach the stairs to the double bridge. You can go either way but the right staircase is easier. Climb the stairs on the right and simply run as fast you can while jumping the gaps until the right section begins to collapse. Now jump SW onto the left bridge and jump the final gap to the other side. If you take the left staircase, jump NE to the right side when the bridge starts to collapse. Run to the NW and leap across the gap to the SW when the right bridge begins to collapse then jump the final gap to the other side. You can find trucks 4 and 5 just to the left of the bridge once you cross. To the right is a Challenge Tomb and trucks number 6 and 7. Red Skull #8 is hiding in the trees behind the truck to the NW. ------------------------------------------------------------ Challenge Tomb: #2-2 ------------------------------------------------------------ |Roll one of the spiky balls onto the pressure plate, it's the only you can |reach. Roll the other spiky ball onto the pressure plate nearest you to the |SE. Now you can roll the first spiky ball onto the pressure plate in the |middle of the room to open the way to the Arrow of Tezcatlipoca. Exit. ------------------------------------------------------------ Return to the broken bridge and climb the stairs to the courtyard with the second Sun Disc and the Shotgun. To get the second disc, place a mine under the stone hand on the right. Step on the pressure plate until the doors do not open anymore. Detonate the mine and stay on the pressure plate until the hand comes down to the ground keeping the doors from closing and grab the second Sun Disc. A gate will open up to the SW. Go down the stairs to find a large number of enemies. Put them down with all the firepower you have. Use the ammo cache at the top of the stairs to refill if you run low. Truck 8 is waiting for you near the base of the stairs. Continue to the SW and follow the bridge. To reach the ammo power up to the NW create a spear platform. Follow the bridge until you reach the ground. Run SE up the stairs and make spear platforms along the NE wall to jump the gap. You can make up to three at one time. Climb the ledge to the NE to grab a Stone Feather then continue SE down the stairs to find Truck 9. Follow the path into the stream. Cross the stream to the SE to grab Red Skull #9 then go back to the stream and turn NE to find a room behind a waterfall. Red Skull #10 is above the entrance. To reach it, get back on the raised bank to the NW and create a spear platform on the structure above the entrance. Jump into the river and create a second spear platform under the first one. Use these platforms to jump up and reach the top of the strcuture and the final Red Skull for the level. Inside, use your weapon to activate the switch, then place a mine. Cross the first set of spikes, detonate the mine to trip the switch and follow the path NE. Step on the pressure plate to open the door. This is the point in the level where I reached 300,000 points and obtained the Automatic Shotgun. In this room jump on the smaller pillar and create a spear platform. Use it to jump up to top of the larger pillar with the spiked ball. Knock the ball down then place it between the two pillars to block the arrows shooting from the cage. Pull the gold lever back then run under the cage to get the last Sun Disc. Exit out the door and up the stairs to enter a battle against a large number of enemies. Truck 10 is also in this spot so destroy it to complete the Reward Challenge. After the battle head SE and hang from the bridge to get the health upgrade then return the courtyard and head SW and down the stairs. At the base of the stairs turn NW to find some pillars. Use the inclined pillar to reach the top of the pillars and jump to the ammo upgrade. Return to the path and go SW until you reach a gold plate set into the ground then follow the path clockwise until you return to the Spider Temple where you will have to fight more enemies. My advice is to mine the stairs leading down from the temple and use your mines to kill or damage the spiders. You can also obtain the Three Birds with One Stone trophy by killing multiple spiders with your mine. When the battle is over, run up the stairs and into the Spider Temple to end the level. _______________________________________________________________________________ Level 3: Spider Tomb [L3ST]---------------------------------------------------- _______________________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------ Score Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ 200,000 250,000 290,000 (Fast Action Rifle) ------------------------------------------------------------ Reward Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ Achieve a hole-in-one ............................ (Health powerup) 12 leaps over the triple trap ...................... (Ammo Powerup) Extend the bridge in 4:00 or less .... (Two Arrows of Tezcatlipoca) Defeat Leglion, Queen of all Spiders ............... (Clay Feather) Collect 10 Red Skulls ................................. (Stone Owl) ------------------------------------------------------------ Run down the stairs and into a big battle with spiders. Pull the golden lever then jump and grapple the gold ring that appears to cross the gap. Follow the path past some spiders and use the gold ring to wall run and jump over the gap. Leap onto the hanging platform to partially extend the bridge. Jump off the platform to the SW and follow the path until you reach a pressure plate that opens a door. In this room battle the spiders then roll the spiky ball into the flaming pit to continue on. Red Skull #1 is hiding behind the spiky ball. Follow the path to a Challenge Tomb. ------------------------------------------------------------ Challenge Tomb: #3-1 ------------------------------------------------------------ |Grab the flamethrower then use it on the spiders to set them on fire. ------------------------------------------------------------ At the bottom of the stairs, you wil trigger the Reward Challenge Achieve a hole-in-one. To beat the challenge, place a mine next to pillar on the NW and blow it just before the ball reaches a SE position. Experiment to get the timing right. After blowing the trap you have to battle a wave of enemies. After that's done, climb onto a ledge to the NE by creating a spear platform to get an item. Afterwards place the spiky ball in the fire pit to leave the room through the SE door. Follow the path and jump the gap to the NE to activate a hanging platform that extends the bridge. Jump to the next hanging platform then to the SE path. Follow the path to a fork. The SW fork leads to a spiky-ball trap and the Reward Challenge 12 leaps over the triple trap. You don't have to do this consecutively. After completing the challenge, destroy the trap to grab a Clay Feather and Red Skulls #2-4. Return to the fork and take the NE path to a pressure plate and go through the door. In this room, dive roll over the spiked panels to get the items without dying and open the grate and get Red Skull #5. Continue on down the stairs to the SE and you'll see a Challenge Tomb on the right with a gate blocking its entrance. Opening the Challenge Tomb gets you the trophy "Beat a Better Moustrap" and Red Skulls #6-9. ------------------------------------------------------------ Opening Challenge Tomb: #3-2 ------------------------------------------------------------ |This is a tough one, you have to raise all the spikes at once to gain entrance |to the Challenge Tomb. The spiked grid is 8x5 panels with some spikes already |sticking out and one safe spot, the pressure plate. There are multiple ways to |do this puzzle, but here is one that worked for me. It actually involves |leaving the puzzle for a second and then rushing back in. If you don't care |about the Challenge Tomb, then just jump on the plate and run |to the door. | |Each letter stands for the direction you should go from that panel. | |D = Down |U = Up |L = Left |R = Right |* = Raised Spike Plates | |Enter at point A and follow the path to point E to exit the puzzle and open |the Challenge Tomb. Point P is the pressure plate which opens the door to |continue the level. | | D-------L A | _|_ _E_ _|_ ___ ___ ___ ___ _|_ | | D | U | U-|-L-|-L-|-L | * | D | | |_|_|_|_|___|___|___|_|_|___|_|_| | | D | U | * | R-|-R-|-U | D-|-L | | |_|_|_|_|___|_|_|___|___|_|_|___| | | D | U | P | U | * | * | R-|-D | | |_|_|_|_|___|_|_|___|___|___|_|_| | | R-|-U | R-|-U | D-|-L | D-|-L | | |___|___|_|_|___|_|_|_|_|_|_|___| | | * | * | U-|-L-|-L | U-|-L | * | | |___|___|___|___|___|___|___|___| Whew! Glad that's over! ------------------------------------------------------------ Challenge Tomb: #3-2 ------------------------------------------------------------ |Create two spear platforms, one directly across from you in the wooden wall |and one on the wall to your left between the item and the NE corner. Run |along the spiked panels and jump off the ledge onto your spear platform. The |grate will open so use the spear platforms to jump back to solid ground and |obtain the Stone Lizard. Tomb 3-2 complete. ------------------------------------------------------------ Jump onto the pressure plate, then run out the door to the NW. Turn left and exit the small room to the SW. Run down the stairs, jump the gap, fight off the spiders and use the gold ring to rappel down the wall for a Health Powerup. Climb back up, then follow the path to a large platform. Kill the spiders that attack and step on the pressure plate to stop the rotating pillar. Make a spear platform on the spiked pillar and jump onto it. Let the pillar move you to the other side of the gap. Jump off and follow the path to the NE then jump on the hanging platform to extend the bridge a final time. Run back to the pillar, step on the pressure plate to lower the pillar and jump on it. Jump back onto the large platform. Leglion the Queen of All Spiders appears here. Kill her to complete the Reward Challenge. The way forward is clear but if you want to get the last upgrade, retrace your steps all the way back to the first hanging platform. To get back to where you need to go, return to where you found the spinning ball trap. Jump off the ledge to the NW then follow the path NW until you reach the platform. Ride it down and jump off to get the Scepter of ihuacoatl. Jump across all three platforms to end up next to the large spinning spiky pillar. Now take the route to the NE to reach the bridge. Use the stairs to gain the height you need to make spear platforms to reach Red Skull #10. Turn NW and jump onto the bridge. On the bridge, you need shoot the TNT barrels above the rolling spiky pillar then place a mine on the bridge. When the rolling spiky pillar is over the mine, detonate the mine to lift it in the air and roll under the spiked log to reach the other side safely. _______________________________________________________________________________ Level 4: The Summoning [L4TS]-------------------------------------------------- _______________________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------ Score Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ 30,000 Points 45,000 Points 60,000 Points (AR-06) ------------------------------------------------------------ Reward Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ Collect 10 Red Skulls .................... (Stone Owl) Defeat the T-Rex in 2:00 or less ...... (Gold Feather) Destroy All Columns .................... (Clay Lizard) ------------------------------------------------------------ Run across the bridge and get ready for a Boss Battle when you cross the arch. Boss Battle: T-Rex There's not a lot of strategy in this battle. The way you're directed to kill the T-Rex is to lead him over each of the 3 spiked traps in the NW, NE and SE corners of the map. You activate them by pressure, and by switch. At the same time you need to fend off other enemies. The real trick is to complete the Reward and Score Challenges. To knock down the columns you can let the T-Rex destroy them or use your mines to blow them up. ------------------------------------------------------------ Red Skull Locations: ------------------------------------------------------------ Red Skull #1 - Run to the right of your starting point. Across the stream near the east wall the Red Skull is under some trees. Red Skull #2 - Near the ammo cache on the west side. Red Skull #3 - South of the ammo cache near #2, on an island in the river. Red Skull #4 - Go north from the ammo cache until you see two trees near each other. Red Skull #4 is between the two trees under a truck you must destroy. Red Skull #5 - Just south of the switch in the W-NW area. You must blow up a column to find it. Red Skull #6 - Head north from the circular stone platform where the T-Rex spawned. The skull is hidden under a column on your right. Red Skull #7 - Go north from #4 to see Red Skull #5 at the top of the stairs. Red Skull #8 - Under a column just to the NW of the spiky floor panels in the NE part of the area. Red Skull #9 - In the middle of the spiky floor panels by #8 Red Skull #10 - Near the ammo cache north of#8 and #9. It is hidden under the trucks so blow them up to find it. trucks to see it. To obtain the points challenge, focus on the enemies that spawn around the T-Rex after you whittle its life away some. The thing you need to do is kill the enemies while dodging the T-Rex. The real points come when you kill things while your Relic power meter is full. Remember, using the spear knocks down the enery shooting enemies. If you run up the stairs to the NW and NE you will trigger a small flood of spiders. If you kill them with a full Relic Meter you can obtain a lot of points. If you want to kill the T-Rex in 2 minutes, return on a later play-through and use the rocket launcher. _______________________________________________________________________________ Level 5: Forgotten Gate [L5FG]------------------------------------------------- _______________________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------ Score Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ 140,000 Points 170,000 Points 230,000 Points (Double Barrel Shotgun) ------------------------------------------------------------ Reward Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ Collection 10 Red Skulls .............................. (Clay Arrow) Reach the exit in 10:00 or less ....... (Gold Scepter of Cihuacoatl) Get all the balls to the main room .................. (Ammo Powerup) Navigate the trap hallon the first attempt ........... (Gold Lizard) Bomb a ball onto the skull pedestal ............... (Health Powerup) ------------------------------------------------------------ Run forward and step on one of the circular pressure panels to get a cutscene. Your task is to find 8 balls and place them on the panels to unlock the gate. One is provided for you. (Ball #1) Your path to the NW is blocked so take the stairs and follow the path to the NE until you see a room. Enter the room to the NE. Deal with any enemies then jump down into the lower part of the room. Flip the switch then move the ball onto the pillar. Place a mine just behind the ball to the SE. Flip the switch again and detonate the mine to knock the ball from the pillar to the upper ledge of the room. Roll the ball out the room and into the central area with the pressure panels. (Ball #2) Climb the stairs again, this time going past the last room and follow the path. After you jump over the gap you'll reach a room with a ball in a cage with a hole in the center. Stand opposite the ball to roll it to the hole. (Ball#3) Keep going to the NW to find a pressure plate to activate. Go through the door to get into a battle. After defeating the enemies, you'll see a Challenge Tomb to the NW. To get Red Skull #1 on the spiky panels and the Health Powerup, stand on the little raised stone table in front of the spikes and make a spear platform on the wall behind the spiky panels. Run across the panels to get the skull then jump onto the spear platform above the raised spikes. Jump clear of the spikes and go grab the Health Powerup behind the grate. ------------------------------------------------------------ Challenge Tomb: #5-1 ------------------------------------------------------------ |This is one of the tougher tombs to figure out. Place a mine on the switch |then stand opposed the gold ring on the other side of the pit. Grapple the |gold ring and detonate the mine. As the pillar rises up, jump off in the |direction of the ring. Because your grapple line is slowly rising on top of |the pillar, you will be pulled up against the rising pillar and can climb up |to obtain the Stone Arrow. ------------------------------------------------------------ Exit the tomb then climb down the ladder to the SW to find the lightweight machine pistols. At the bottom of the ladder you will find a room with spiked panels. To open the gate holding the stone ball, jump over the first pressure panel and onto the second (labeled X) then run along the panels until you get out. All the spiked panels deactivate so you can easily get the ammo upgrade in the middle. Roll the ball out the door and over a pressure plate to create a new path on the upper level. After the battle run up the stairs on the east side and all the way back to the room with the cage and the hole where you will fight a few more enemies. From here, turn SW and use the wooden panels you activated before to jump the gap. Follow the path avoiding the arrow-shooting barrels and at the top of the stairs, make a spear platform to climb up the wall.Follow the path and enter the room to the NE. Ignore the room itself and just climb the ladders to find a new path and a Challenge Tomb. ------------------------------------------------------------ Challenge Tomb: #5-2 ------------------------------------------------------------ |This tomb is a fight, not a puzzle. You are in a room with two ledges on |either side of a central gap. A large number or energy shooting enemies spawn |on the other ledge and attack you. The columns on your side will only stop a |few energy blasts before they crumble. Kill the enemies and jump over to grab |the Scepter of Huitzilopochtli. I like to use the Fast-Action Rifle to kill |these guys. ------------------------------------------------------------ Exit the Tomb and follow the path to a new room with a ball surrounded by spiky panels. In this room defeat the enemies then pull the gold lever to lower the spikes. Run to the stone ball, jump on it then jump up to grab the Health Powerup then run back to the lever and activate it again. Mine or shove the ball off the spiky panels. To complete the Reward Challenge by getting the ball on the pedestal, align the ball roughly with the NE corner of spikes then place a mine. If you need to, you can jump onto the pedestal and grab the ball to keep it from rolling off. Play around with your equipment, those -1 bomb penalties your equipment has can change where you need to place the ball. Once you get the Health powerup, roll the ball down the circular tube in the NW. Return to the room you ignored before. You'll see the stone ball you just rolled on the path in front of the room. Roll it into the room and put it on the plate to activate the pillar. Jump on the pillar as it rises then jump to the taller pillar and roll that ball on the ground. If you can't jump in time climb the ball and create a spear platform on the smaller pillar to reach the top of it first. Deal with the enemy that appears then roll each ball down tube to the NW and deal with any enemies that appear. (Balls #5, #6) Keep going past the tube and jump the gap. Follow the path SW to reach Red Skull #2. Go back to the fork and go NW and follow the path. Grab Red Skull #3 from the spiky plates. To climb the wooden wall make a spear platform from midway up the stairs to get the height. Follow the path to a new room. Here climb up the wooden scaffolding and grapple the golden ring to wall run and jump over to the wooden scaffolding on the other side. Roll the stone ball onto the pressure plate to release the grate guarding the ammo upgrade. To get the ball past the spikes, roll it as far to the SE as you can then place a mine behind it. Step on the pressure plate and detonate the mine to roll the ball past the last spiky panel. Grapple your way back over to the other side and roll the ball down the path and into the tube.(Ball #7) Return the way you came to the platform with the cage and the hole and keep going to the right. By the time I reached the cage I was able to complete the score challenge. This time take the NE stairs and stand on the symbol on the ground. Trip the switch and ride the pillar up. Grapple the gold ring then wall run and jump to the platform to avoid the wall spikes. Defeat the enemies that spawn here and then place a mine right next to the raised pillar in the NE part of the room. Stand on the pressure plate and when the pillar goes all the way down, detonate the mine so the ball rolls of the pillar. Roll the ball onto the pressure plate to lower the pillar and place a mine. Stand on the pillar and detonate the mine. Once the pillar stops rising make a spear platform to reach the ledge with Red Skull #4. Before you leave this area jump down to a ledge to the S-SW to find Red Skull #5. Roll the ball off the platform back the way you came then grapple the ring and jump onto the raised platform (or jump onto the level below but make sure to avoid the wall spikes). Trip the switch then grab the ball and roll it back to the room with the cage and the hole in it. Roll the ball down the chute on the south part of the platform. (Ball #8) There should be some balls in cage with a hole in it (depending on how many you rolled into the hole earlier). Roll the balls in the cage into the hole by standing on the opposite side of the cage from them. This should complete the Reward Challenge "Get All the Balls to the Main Room." Return to the main room with the pressure panels, defeating the enemies along the way. Put the balls on each pressure panel to open the skull gate. If you are going for a speed run, skip Ball #8. After you push Ball #7 into the tube, run back to the main room and place the balls on the panels then step on the last one yourself to open the gate. In this room blow the stone altars on the left side to reveal Red Skull #6. ------------------------------------------------------------ Reward Challenge: Navigate the Trap Hall on the first attempt ------------------------------------------------------------- This one is tricky, especially the first part with the closing spiked walls. Run forward as fast as you can until you reach the falling floor and Red skull #7. Jump from panel to panel until you reach the next section with the spiked walls. In the second section of spiked walls, you will need to run backwards twice. The signal is if the wall ahead of you does not open and the walls to the side of you shake back and forth. The first time you must roll back one wall. The second time, right before the end, you must roll back two walls. In the last section spiked balls will fall from the ceiling knocking holes in the floor. Advance carefully and grab Red Skulls #8-10. The shadows are a bit deceptive as they move a square from where you first see them. The best bet here is to carefully run and jump. If you keep moving you should make it through. It's possible to get all 4 Red Skulls in this area and still complete the run on your first try if you don't keep running too fast. If you're doing a speed run you don't need to complete this in one try to reach the exit in time. Once you're through go forward to exit the level. _______________________________________________________________________________ Level 6: Toxic Swamp [L6TS]---------------------------------------------------- _______________________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------ Score Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ 220,000 points 320,000 points 360,000 points (Hand Cannons) ------------------------------------------------------------ Reward Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ Collect 10 Red skulls ........................... (Health Powerup) Get the spinning ball into its fire pits within :30 seconds ... (Ammo Powerup) Reach the exit in 9:00 or less .................................. (Gold Arrow) ------------------------------------------------------------ This level is filled with green poisonous pods. When touched, they pulsate and explode leaving a poisonous gas behind in their wake for a few moments. You should avoid them most of the time, but if you place a mine near them, you can blow them up with your mine further damaging enemies. From the start of the level turn around. Grapple the gold ring above you and pull yourself up to grab an Ammo Upgrade. Follow the path down the stairs. Use the stairs to create spear platforms so you can reach the ledge on the right to get a number of gems and avoid the poisonous plants. Go north to see a short cutscene. Continue north to see Red Skull #1 over some plants. Jump to grab the skull then quickly roll out of the way to avoid getting hit. Go right up the stairs to find a Challenge Tomb. ------------------------------------------------------------ Challenge Tomb: #6-1 ------------------------------------------------------------ |Go SE to find a spinning ball trap and poisonous plants. At the group of |three plants, Place a mine just in front of the middle one. Grab the spiky |ball and roll it right on top of the mine. Touch the poinsonous plants so |they explode then immediately detonate the mine. The combined force should |lift the spiky ball onto the platform. Roll it into the fire pit and grab |the Stone Feather. ------------------------------------------------------------ Outside the Tomb you will see Red Skull #2 on top of it. To reach it safely, create a spear platform right next to the poisonous plant growing on the ladder to the north of the tomb. After the plants activate wait for the smoke to clear then jump onto the platform and climb the ladder before they reform. At the top, grab the gems them jump towards the roof of the tomb to grab the Red Skull #2. Go down the stairs and continue left across the wooden bridge for a cutscene. The green enemies here leave poison gas behind when they die so be sure to avoid it. Follow the path to the left then up the stairs and defeat a few more enemies. Watch out for the plants, if you blow up the trucks and boxes here they will also set the plants off. Enter the structure and grab the Grenade Launcher. Use it to destroy both wooden wheels and bring down the wooden gate above. Return to the gate and enemies will attack you. Use the grenade launcher to clear them out easily. If you run low on ammo, refill at the cache in the structure then follow the path past a healing fountain. You may see things off the path in a green mist--you can get them later. When the path branches north and south, you can go north to find Red Skull #3 and a Challenge Tomb. ------------------------------------------------------------ Challenge Tomb: #6-2 ------------------------------------------------------------ |Use your grenade launcher to blow the spiky ball into the fire pit. Your |reward are the Three Arrows of Tezcatlipoca that give you Power Bomb and |Scatter Shot when you relic meter is full ------------------------------------------------------------ Exit the Tomb and create a spear platform against the wall to jump onto the roof and reach Red Skull #3. To continue the level, return to the fork and take the south branch to trigger a cutscene where a poisonous giant that shoots poisonous gas appears. Defeat this enemy (fire while backing up) to reduce the poison gas mist along the path. Go back to where the giant enemy appeared and follow the wooden path to the NE then enter the structure with the blue flames outside it. This is a maze filled with poisonous plants and enemies. To clear the maze without taking poison damage, take it slow. There are three large enemies and several small enemies so make sure you only trigger one at a time. Don't be afraid to lay mines near the poison pods as traps for the enemies. Once you get through the maze, create spear platforms along the wall to jump over the poisonous plants and land on the pressure plate that opens the small gates near the bridge. Here, each plate lowers the wall so you can destroy the two wooden wheels by firing at a diagonal angle. This will lower the second gate. If you have avoided the poison damage, you will fulfill the challenge when you pass the gate near the ammo cache. Exiting the structure, go NW until you see a spiky ball. Remember the healing fountain you passed on the main path? Roll the ball all the way back there and place it over the green fire on the fountain to heal the rolling ball. From the fountain go NW to see a column with a ladder carved onto it. Climb it to reach four gems and Red Skull #4. From this point head south to see a pillar with Red Skull #5 atop it. Use a spear platform to reach the top without touching the poisonous plants. That should be it for this area so run back to where you fought the giant enemy, and go up the stairs and through the gate to the next area. Follow the path over and up the stairs and create a spear platform to
reach the platform in the NE part of the area. You'll have a few enemies to kill here, keep moving and lay your mines next to the poisonous pods. If you approach the small stone platform to the NW, you'll trigger another of the huge poisonous enemies. When you kill him grab Red Skull #6 from the platform. To continue on with the level, create a spear platform to reach the top of the structure near the broken stone bridge in the NE. To cross the gap without taking damage, jump from the stone structure and once you are past the first two poisonous pods, fire your grapple at the stone ring. Hang from the ring and pull yourself up while getting the Health Upgrade until you are over the level of the pods. Then wall run and jump over the last two pods to cross the gap. Follow the path carefully avoiding the poisonous pods. You'll see a path to the north and a staircase to the NE. Go east past the staircase to see Red Skull #7. Both the stairs and path lead to the same place--a gigantic crumbling bridge with a line of lowered spiked panels. This is a little tricky. Walk forward and the spiked panels behind you will activate cutting off your retreat. Cross the bridge until a cutscene plays and monsters appear. You now must get to the other side of the bridge and over the wall. There are two methods, the first is to turn and quickly make a spear platform then jump over to the other side. The second is to not move and wait. Eventually the falling pillars will break the wall and give you a few seconds to run across to the right (SE) side of the bridge. Once on that side you can run to the gap then hug the wall in the middle to make it across the gap. After that just run forward to grab Red Skull #8 and reach the stairs and safety. The last of the three gates you need to open is beyond the bridge. To open it turn SE and go down the stairs past the healing fountain and follow the path to run into one of the large poisonous enemies and a few smaller creatures. Defeat the enemies then head SW across the wooden bridge, climb the stairs and enter the structure. In this building you will see two gold levers. Pull one (doesn't matter which) and a wooden platform will fall on that side in a small cutscene. Equip the grenade launcher and run to the wooden platform. Shoot the wooden wheel with your grenade launcher before the platform comes back up. If you hit the wheel the platform will stay down. You can repeat this task with the other gold lever and platform, but it might be easier to just try and shoot both from one of the wooden platforms. I tend to find the one on the right side easier. To get the ammo upgrade, follow this path. | ___ ___ | | A-|-- | | |_|_|_|_| | | | | | | | |_|_|_|_| | | | | | | | |_|_|_|_| | | | | | | | |_|_|_|_| | | | | | | | |_|_|_|_| | | | | ^ V When you leave the structure, defeat the enemies and follow the cliff path to the north to loop around and head back the way you came to the wooden gate you saw earlier. You can also climb the ladder to the top the tall pillar to grab Red Skull #9. Go back to the third gate to the NW. Inside you have to choose between a Health Upgrade or completing the Reward Challenge "Get the Spinning ball into the fire pit in 30 seconds." To get the spinning ball into the pit, you have to blow the ball in the SW direction and keep it moving past poisonous pods and spiked pressure panels. Mine the spinning ball trap when the ball is nearly even with the stairs then follow it but be careful to take a different path than the ball over the spiky pressure panels. On the level with the poisonous pods in the middle just ignore the pods and power through the poison keeping the ball straight as you can until it rolls down the stairs and over the final section of spiky pressure panels. Another option is to use your mines and push the ball over the ledges on the side but you have to place the mines behind the ball so it doesn't go off to the side. Make sure to take a different route than the ball over the spiky panels then shove it into the fire pit. If you want the item in the grate, you have to place the ball on the pressure plate and run back up to grab the GOld Owl. It's your choice. Regardless, cross the fire pit and continue on up the stairs. Out side climb the stairs and defeat the enemies in the next area then go right and descend the the stairs to reach a pillar with a ladder carved into it. At the top is Red Skull #10. Go back up the stairs and this time head to the NW area to find a wooden bridge and a cutscene. Follow the path clockwise and pull the gold lever. Continue on the path until you reach and activate the second gold lever. Jump down and step on the pressure plate in front of the gate. The poisonous pods start exploding all around you. Run clockwise on the path to stay ahead of the explosions until you once again reach the second gold lever. An explosion will knock the gate down. Jump on it and enter the structure to end the level. Note: It is possible to get over 1,400,000 points and unlock the Jungle Outfit by this level. Note 2: You may notice a hole in your items and upgrades boxes at the bottom of the level objective screen. I have been unable to find this last upgrade which is probably a health upgrade. If anyone knows of it, please let me know and I'll post in the walkthrough. _______________________________________________________________________________ Level 7: Flooded Passage [L7FP]------------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------ Score Challenges ------------------------------------------------------------ 120,000 points 160,000 points 180,000 points (Automatic Pistols) ------------------------------------------------------------ Reward Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ Collect 10 Red Skulls .............................................. (Ammo Powerup) ------------------------------------------------------------ Note: On my re-run of this level I accidently got Red Skull #1 without writing it down. I don't remember where I got it for certain so if anyone would care to describe the location I'll put it in. It's not hard to miss. Follow the path and grab the spiked ball to block the projectiles from the arrow traps and (traps #1-5). Once past these, deal with the skeleton enemy by hitting it enough to break it into pieces then placing and detonating a mine over the bones. Pull the gold lever then grapple and jump along the wall. Stop before you hit the spiked gate and hang down until the wall retracts then wallrun and jump onto the ledge. On the platform with arrow traps and poisonous plants, grab the Health Upgrade in the corner then grab the ball. Weave your way to the NW, destroying the arrow traps (traps #6-13) and defeating the skeletons. Go west and hurdle the poison plants to awaken another enemy standing in front of a Challenge Tomb. ------------------------------------------------------------ Challenge Tomb: #7-1 ------------------------------------------------------------ |Roll the spiky ball onto the pressure plate. Jump onto the ball and stand on |it as you create a spear platform in the wall. Jump off the ball and create |a second platform to reach the first then climb onto the ledge and grab the |Eye of Cipactli. To reach Red Skull #2 stand on the pot and create a spear |platform on the wall then jump onto the platform and jump again. ------------------------------------------------------------ You'll see a switch halfway down the wall. The only way I have ever found to activate this switch in either single or co-op is by standing in the middle of the stairs near the edge and shooting at it, usually the grenade launcher. If someone can figure out some other way, let me know and I'll update the walkthrough. Grab Red Skull #3 without setting off the poisonous plant by creating a spear platform just to the side. Grapple straight down from the gold ring to reach Red Skull #4 and wall run to get the gems. Climb back up and run past the gate. Where the path splits, turn and shoot at the urn hidden behind the wall to the NW. This is the first of the three hidden urns you need to destroy to accomplish the Reward Challenge. Jump the gap by creating spear platforms along the wall, to get Red Skull #5 position the gold dot right next to it. Defeat the enemy that emerges then grapple down the gold ring to reach Red Skull #6. Climb back up and follow the path past the ammo cache and through the door. DOn't forget to get the High Powered Assault Rifle here. In this room defeat the enemies that appear then roll the spiked ball up to the spiked panels. Stand on the ball and either make a spear platform or leap across the gap. Destroy the arrow traps (traps #14-17) step on the pressure plate to get Red Skull #7 and lower the spikes. There is a hidden urn in the NE corner here near the arrow traps. Pull the gold lever to open the door and continue on. Trip the switch past this room then place a mine near it. Cross the first set of spikes on the floor then activate the switch with your weapon. Cross the second line of spikes then detonate your mine and fight your way past some enemies to reach a Challenge Tomb. Grab Red Skull #8 by use a spear platform before you go in. ------------------------------------------------------------ Challenge Tomb: #7-2 ------------------------------------------------------------ |Here jump on top of the urn and create a spear platform on the opposite wall |create a second one from the ground then jump up on both to reach Red Skull |#9. To activate the switch and raise the grate guarding the Gold Feather, use |your Grenade Launcher at an angle. ------------------------------------------------------------ After leaving the Tomb, continue on the path and place a mine on the landing past the first set of stairs to lay a trap for the enemies that spawn. Keep going up the stairs and follow the path to a pressure plate to trigger a large enemy force including a poison giant. If you go forward you will see a turn off to the SE. Follow this path and you'll see a giant pressure plate. This plate activates the large spiked panel and you can use it to kill the giant enemy easily. After the ball continue on until you reach the gold lever. ------------------------------------------------------------ WARNING - GLITCH ------------------------------------------------------------ The game is designed so in the single player, when you pull the gold lever, the spiked gate on the other side goes down so you can reach a pressure plate that deactivates the next spiked gate. Sometimes however, this plate does not pop up when it's supposed to. You can become trapped between the two sets of spiked gates on the SE path. Killing yourself respawns you in the same spot so the only option if this happens is to restart the level. I believe that if you pull the gold lever all the way out and run to the pressure plate before the lever returns to its original position you can hit the plate before its too late. I still need to test this out a bit more. Update: In my last run through, I used the High Powered Assualt Rilfe to blow the TNT barrel next to the arrow traps (traps #18-20) while standing next to the gold lever. The explosion shoved the giant pressure plate into a permanently down position. This area seems glitched, advance with caution. ------------------------------------------------------------ Anyhow once you get this to work, move on destroying more arrow traps (traps #21-24 and #24-28) then go north to destroy the last set (traps #29-37) to fulfill the challenge. Flip the switch across from you with your weapon then go back to the giant pressure plate and cross over to the other side to fight a poisonous giant and another large enemy. Stand next to the switch on this side and trip it again and move on to battle another poisonous giant, large enemies and a few smaller ones. Run up to the pressure plate on this side, stand on it, then run back to the other side and cross the spiky planels and go forward to reach a cutscene. Jump the gap and run up the stairs heading NW. Fight your way to the top and step on the pressure plate. The giant spiked ball at the top now begins to fall down the stairs. Run ahead of it to the bottom and leap back over the gap to avoid it. It should crush most of the enemies behind it. You can run back up the stairs to the place where the ball was to find an ammo upgrade. Continue past the broke wall. There is a hidden urn to break hidden behind the wall to your left here, the last one. Destroy the urn to the NE to get Red Skull #10. Then go through the door to end the level. _______________________________________________________________________________ Level 8: The Jaws of Death [L8TJoD]-------------------------------------------- _______________________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------ Score Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ 60,000 Points 80,000 Points 110,000 Points High Power Flame Thrower ------------------------------------------------------------ Reward Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ Collect 10 Red Skulls (White Drum) Escape in 2:00 or less (Wind Drum) Destroy all of the enemies on columns (Gold Arrow) ------------------------------------------------------------ You start off at the base of some stairs. Immediately run to the left to grab Red Skull #1. Run up the stairs and deal with the enemies. Red skull #2 is behind the column to the NE. Continue along the path and the Reward Challenge about destroying all the enemies on the columns will appear. These enemies are the energy shooting priests you've been fighting before. A pair will appear right now. Practice shooting them to perfect your aim. I would suggest using the Fast Action Rifle and the Gold Arrow of Tezcatlipoca which gives you Scatter Shot and Power Shot when your meter is maxed out. Continue on and you'll trigger a cutscene. Follow Lara's advice and RUN. Run forward and roll over the spiked pressure plates. Red Skull #3 is next to some poisonous plants. Angle to the top of the path to jump the gap. Red Skull #4 is on the bottom of the path after the jump. Red Skull #5 is on the top of the path right before the next jump. Red Skull #6 is on the top of the path with the spiky pressure panels past the collapsing walkway. Roll through the door and activate the switch to extend a wooden platform to jump the next gap. Run to the top of the path then angle back to the center to jump the next gap safely. Now enemies will be popping up on columns on both sides of you. They will also hurl some of the stone columns onto the path. You can jump over these fallen columns, you can roll ahead of them, or you can simply let them fall and run through a small gap that appears in each. The first column has a small gap at the northern end you can run through once it falls. Red Skull #7 is here. The second has one in the south end, the third in the middle. After the third column angle south. You can usually run past the fourth falling column. If you can't, the gap is to the northern part of it. Jump the gap in the middle and run through the open door. A head is a gap with a gold ring on the other side. Jump and grapple the gold ring and pull yourself up. Red Skull #9 is in this area. Keep to the southern part of the path and go past 2 more columns. The next jumps are at the northern part of the path, then the southern. Red Skull #10 is at the south side of the path. After that just run forward until you reach the end. At the end of the path step on the pressure plate to activate a wooden platform on the southern side of the path. Run to this platform, grab the gold lever and pull it back as quickly as you can. If you don't make it in time the wooden platform will deactivate and send you plunging to your death. Once the lever is pulled out just sit back and watch the monster die to get a trophy. Run out the door to end the level and get the Instant Sushi Trophy. Note: To stand a better chance of taking out the enemies on the columsn, stop and fire a shot or two at them. You will be a lot more accurate than if you fire on the run and it will save time in the long run. Usually killing all the enemies in one run without dying will easily net you the point total if you grab the easily accesible gems. _______________________________________________________________________________ Level 9: Twisting Bridge [L9TB]------------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------ Score Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ 190,000 Points 210,000 Points 250,000 Points (Submachine Gun) ------------------------------------------------------------ Reward Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ Collect 10 Red Skulls (Serpent Drum) Navigate the Twisting Bridge in 6:00 or less (Mask of Itzli) Bomb the Rolling Fire (Health Powerup) Knock the shield off a Shield Demon (Ammon Powerup) ------------------------------------------------------------ You start in an open clearing with three paths. The path to your left leads to some gems. The right path leads to Red Skull #1. Both lead to enemies. Take the center path down the stairs to continue the level. When you reach the next courtyard, defeat the enemies. The left path leads to gems, the right to Red Skull #2 if you grapple the gold ring and rappel down to it then continue down the center path. Activate the switch to turn the rotating platform your way. You can now turn it in any of four directions. The path forward leads to a dead end. Instead go to your left (NW) to find a Challenge Tomb at the end of the path. ------------------------------------------------------------ Challenge Tomb: #9-1 ------------------------------------------------------------ |Grapple the gold ring then wall run and jump across the gap on the NE side as |well as grabbing Red Skull #3. Run all the way to the left and grab the spiky |ball and roll it onto the pressure plate in the northern part of the room. |Jump onto the wooden platform created and jump over to the switch. Mine the |switch then go back to the spiky ball and roll it back to where you first |found it and detonate your mine. Roll the spiky ball out the south door and |onto the south pressure plate to open the gate. Grapple the gold ring and |wall run and jump across the gap to reach the Golden Knife of Itzli. Both |gates are now open so you can easily exit the Tomb. ------------------------------------------------------------ Return to the rotating wooden platform. Jump onto to it and rotate it so you can jump across to the SE path. Follow this path to find some enemies and the High Powered Single Shot Rifle. Red Skull #4 is hiding behind the pillar so blow it up to find it for certain. Go up the stairs and step on the pressure plate to open the gate to the structure. Inside the building step forward to trigger a wave of enemies. Use the Grenade Launcher to blow the shield off a demon and fight them off. After dealing with the enemies, follow the path outlined in red and pull the gold lever. Quickly run up the wooden platforms until you reach the stone ledge and climb onto the next platform. Here you can run on a little ledge to the NW to grab an Ammo Upgrade. Activate the switch then jump on the wooden platforms and pull the gold lever to open the door to the stairs. Just follow the path up, around and over the rotating platform until you reach a pressure plate that opens the door in front of you. Keep going and you will be surrounded by enemies. Take them out then continue up the stairs and pull the golden lever to open the door to another structure. In this room jump from platform to platform. Once you get to the big one you will be attacked by some enemies. To the NE is a switch. Hit the switch to activate some wooden platforms and reach Red Skull #5. Continue to the SW and fire at another switch you can see in the middle of the big area to activate the platforms you need to continue. When you reach the big platform you will have face more enemies. After that's done, flip the same switch you hit before to extend the platforms to the NW. This part is a little tricky. Stand at the NW edge of the platform. Shoot the switch and the platform right in front of you will activate. Quickly jump to it before the one you are on deactivates and sends you falling. Jump to the big platform and deal with the enemies then create a spear platform to reach Red skull #6. Follow the platforms and hit the switch once more to activate the platforms you need to continue on. Climb the stairs and follow the path back ouside. Just beyond the exit there is a break in the railing. You can jump on the platform to cross the gap to find a Challenge Tomb. Use a spear platform on the outside of the Tomb near the entrance to jump and grab Red Skull #7 above the entrance. ------------------------------------------------------------ Challenge Tomb: #9-2 ------------------------------------------------------------ |Inside here we have trap walls like in level 5. Run forward until you can't |run anymore and watch the side walls. If they shake, roll backwards to avoid |being crunched. The first time you have to roll back 2 walls, the second time |4 walls. At the end is a Gold Lizard and some gems. ------------------------------------------------------------ Back outside jump across back to the path and continue on until you reach a pressure plate that opens a gate. Follow the path into a structure. Inside jump from platform to platform and trip the switches to make your way forward and to grab Red Skulls #8 and #9 found on platforms in the area. Right before you reach the big platform at the SW end, you'll see a collapsed platform to the right (SE). Trip the switch then jump to this platform and you'll see a platform even farther down with a Health Upgrade. Make your way back to the big platform and down into the area you were at earlier and defeat the enemies. Leave the structure and go back the way you came to the rotating wooden platform with the switch. After the cutscene, follow the new path to the NE that was blocked before. Leap across the platforms. From the second platfrom, jump the NW to grab Red Skull #10 then continue to the NE. At the staircase, run up and you'll see a cutscene. Make your way up the stairs as fast you can while dodging the falling rocks and flaming boulders until you reach the top and the doorway to the next level. Along way lay some of your mines and detonate them when the roling fireballs are in range to complete that objective. _______________________________________________________________________________ Level 10: Fiery Depths [L10FD]------------------------------------------------- _______________________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------ Score Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ 90,000 Points 110,000 Points 130,000 Points (Spear of Fire) ------------------------------------------------------------ Reward Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ Collect 10 Red Skulls (Golden Chroud of Cihuacoatl) Reach the exit in 5:00 or les (Dark Drum) Heal the Rolling Ball (Wind Drum) Sacrifice 3 Skeletons to the scropion Crest (Health Powerup) Jump to all 6 spider tile platforms (Ammo Powerup) ------------------------------------------------------------ Walk forward for a cutscene. Jump across the three stone platforms and create spear platforms in the wall with the fire traps. Jump to your platform and pull yourself up the ledge to reach Red Skull #1. If you jump off this area to the right you can reach and Ammo Upgrade. Return to the gold ring, grapple it and wall run and jump to reach the ledge. Continue on until you see a lever. Pull the lever then run down the stairs ignoring the enemies near the Challenge Tomb on your left. Enter the tomb as quickly as possible: pulling the lever disable a fire trap guarding the entrance to the tomb. ------------------------------------------------------------ Challenge Tomb: #10-1 ------------------------------------------------------------ |The entire room is a sequenced fire trap. As soon as you can, follow the path |counter clockwise to and grab the stone ball. Roll the ball along the path |clockwise until you see a pressure pit. Roll the ball on the pit. Throughout |this area don't be afraid to let go of the ball and run for a safespot if the |fire trap is about to catch up to you. | |Continue clockwise along the path past another pressure pit and grab the |stone ball and roll it back onto the pit. Get back on the path and do the |same when you reach the last stone ball to lower the pillar. Follow the path |clock-wise until you come to a break in the wall. Jump to the pillar to get |the Mask of Ehecatl which gives you Power speed, Health and Ammo Regen. ------------------------------------------------------------ Past the Challenge Tomb you'll reach a series of platforms guarded by fire breathing statues. Each of these have Spider Tiles on them so you need to hit them all for the Reward Objective. Take a moment to study the pattern. There is also a health powerup off to the side of one. How do you do this? As soon as the fire state to the right of platform 1 passes by, jump on to it. Then as fast as you can leap to this order. 1, 2, X, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 1 and back to the ledge you started from. It's not necessary but if helps if you equip an artifact that boosts your speed. It's tough to grab X fast enough to avoid being burned. | ___ ___ || 6 | 1 | ||___|___| ___ || 5 | 2 | | X ||___|___| |___ || 4 | 3 | ||___|___| | To continue on with the level jump from platforms 1-4 as fast as you can then from 4 down to the stairs. Past the stairs you'll see platforms on two stone poles. The longer you stand on them the more they flip over so just hurry across them to reach the stairs and follow the path until an enemy spawns behind you. Kill the enemy then turn and kill the second one. This clockwise circling firetrap guards Red Skull #2 and #3 and the Chain Gun Run into the space between the circling fire and follow behind it to grab the Red Skulls then leap onto the platform with the Chain Gun. Wait until the fire passes by then jump in the gap and move on to find more flipping platforms. Wait until the first two are fairly flat then jump and don't stop until you reach the other side. You'll come to an arena with a number of breakable pillars. Here you'll meet a new enemy, a fire demon that shoots fireballs in three directions. Defeat the large number of enemies and restock with the large number of health packs and ammo boxes scattered around the area to disable the fire trap blocking the door to the exit. This is a good place to test out the Chain Gun which is one of my favorite weapons. I think Red Skull #4 is hiding in one of the pillars in this area. In the next room jump on one of the urns and create a spear platform on the wall then quickly jump onto it and then onto the raised section to avoid the fire. You can do this without standing on the urn but it is a little harder. You'll find two fire breathing statues, 4 platforms and a switch. The switch changes the direction of the statues. If the fire gets close to you, trip the switch so you can safely cross. You should need to trip the switch three times. In the next area, wait for the fire to start on the top level. Follow it until you reach the gold ring. Grapple the gold ring and rappel down the wall. Don't get too close to the fire. You need to wallrun to reach Red Skull #5 then wall run and jump the other direction to fall down through the area there is no fire, grab the Ammo Upgrade and make it to the floor below. The switch here controls the fire traps on the wall. The next area is a little tricky. You have to carefully follow the fire while enemies spawn behind you. If you simply walk forward and then run off the fire panels you will avoid the enemy. Turn and fire the grenade launcher at him to knock his shield off then defeat him. The stone ball you need to place on the healing panel is just to the SE across a gap next to Red Skull #6. You can use your mine to blow it across the gap. Use mines to get it past the fire traps and back to the healing fountain. Moving yourself back across the traps is harder, make spear platforms along the wall and time your jumps carefully. Once you place the ball on the fountain head back across the fire traps and jump the gap to the SW. There are a large number of plaforms and fire breathing statues and a Challenge Tomb at the north end of the area. The exit is at the west end of the area. Jump to the third platform then trip the switch to change the direction of the statues. Jump 2 platforms north and one to the east and you should reach the Challenge Tomb easily. ------------------------------------------------------------ Challenge Tomb: #10-2 ------------------------------------------------------------ |Jump onto the rotating wooden platform. The switch to rotate it is across |from you to the north. Rotate the platform twice then jump to the switch and |drop a mine. Return to the platform and exit to the SW to find a gold handle. |Pull the handle to open the grate guarding the War Drum. As soon as the |cut scene ends, run back to the rotating platform and jump on it. Detonate |your mine to rotate the platform then jump across to the platform with the |grate and the War Drum and grab it before the grate comes down again. ------------------------------------------------------------ Back in the area with the fire breathing statues and platforms you now need to exit. This is quite hard, especially as both a Health Upgrade (platform 10) and Red Skull #7 (platform 8) are in this area. He is the map. The stars are the ledges. The switch is the dot located between 6, 7, 8, 11. The Xs are the platforms you don't need to use. | * | 2 1 | 5 4 3 |* 12 11 . 6 X X | 8 7 X * | 9 10 The sequence is: *, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 (hit switch), 7, 8, 7, 9, 10, 9, 7 (hit switch), 8 (hit switch), 11, 12, * Once you're through, follow the path to reach a platform where you are ambushed by a number of enemies. You also have a Reward Challenge to Sacrifice 3 Skeletons to the Scorpion Crest. To complete the Challenge, retreat to the West and you'll see a plate on the floor with a Scorpion on it. Kill the three skeletons on the Scorpion panel to complete the Challenge. Continue on and you'll see a large fiery gap with platforms that flip over. There are two Red Skulls here. Jump on the flipping platform nearest you and follow this path to reach Red Skull#8. Jump one platform farther on then jump to the side twice to reach Red Skull #9. If you are quick you can then jump one platform to the north and thento the other side. It's likely you will fall in the lava here though. In this area you'll have to dodge a bunch of flaming rocks. They fall in a pattern so just hang back and get a feel for it. Red Skull #10 is in a corner in this area. From Red SKull #10 you can jump diagonally over the path to the south then to the east to reach safety. Then just run up the stairs to end the level. _______________________________________________________________________________ Level 11: Belly of the Beast [L11BotB]----------------------------------------- _______________________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------ Score Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ 30,000 Points 50,000 Points 70,000 Points (Heavy Grenade Launcher) ------------------------------------------------------------ Reward Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ Step on all 11 Spider Tiles (White Drum) Defeat teh T-Rex in 5:00 or Less (Clay Serpent) Collect 10 Red Skulls (Serpent Drum) ------------------------------------------------------------ This area is in the shape of giant square. There are lots of columns and large pressure plates and magma. The large pressure plates cause the column in the center of the room to rise up. This column has an ammo cache on it so you need to run to it and refill. Note: the path you take to the ammo cache will not last long enough to run back over it unless you are very quick. Instead a new path will open up opposite. If you do not take this path, you will be stranded on the platform as it sinks back down to the lava and kills you. Run past the collapsing wooden bridge to find the Rocket Launcher and get a quick view of the ammo cache. Walk forward to trigger the battle. Boss Battle: Magma T-Rex There are a number of Reward Challenges that pop up in this battle. The Spider Tiles you need to step on are the circular platforms scattered around the outside of the arena. They have a blue glow once you jump on them. Something new shows up with the Red Skulls here. A number of them are scattered around the platforms, including the approaches to ammo platform. There are a few more in the columns themselves so blow them with your mines or let the Magma T-Rex take know them out. The final set of 4 Red Skulls does not show up right away. After you have the others and you have damaged the Magma T-Rex about half way the fire demons that appeared in the last level will appear on the platforms with the spiders tiles. There are 4 of them, one on each set of tiles and each of them has a Red Skull to complete your set. Red Skull #1: North from where you start in the extreme NW part of the room, hidden in a pillar in the far corner. Red Skull #2: Extreme SE part of the room, hidden in a pillar in the far corner of the SE platform. Red Skull #3: NW path to the Centeral Ammo Cache, stand on the pressure plate. Red Skull #4: SE path to the Central Ammo Cache, opposite #3. Red Skull #5: SW path to the Central Ammo Cache, stand on the pressure plate. Red Skull #6: NE path to the Central Ammo Cache, opposite #5. Red Skull #7: Fire Demon on spider tile pillar Red Skull #8: Fire Demon on spider tile pillar Red Skull #9: Fire Demon on spider tile pillar Red Skull #10: Fire Demon on spider tile pillar As for the battle itself, you should use the Rocket Launche. With the Ammo cache on the platform, you can easily refill. To gain the 70,000 points you need for this level, just damage him and run away until he starts summoning enemies to help him. Kill these guys to obtain the needed number of points. To beat the T-Rex in 5:00 make him emerge and then pour on the Rocket Launcher with as many damage boosting relics and items as you can equip. You can also kill a few of the enemies to charge your relic meter. Just keep blasting him as fast as you can and you can kill him in time. _______________________________________________________________________________ Level 12: Stronghold Passage [L12SP]------------------------------------------- _______________________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------ Score Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ 60,000 Points 90,000 Points 120,000 Points (Railgun) ------------------------------------------------------------ Reward Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ Collect 10 Red Skulls (Fist of Tezcatlipoca) Reach the exit in 15:00 or less (Jade Heart) Rest a ball atop the skull pedestal (Health Powerup) Step on the 3 Hidden Spider Tiles (Ammo Powerup) ------------------------------------------------------------ Note: The Jade Heart you can get from the speedrun here is EXTREMELY useful so my advice is to go back and grab it once you finish the level. Go forward and a lava giant will appear. It will take 3-4 hits with the Rocket Launcher to take it down. There are six fire pits around you. Like in Level 7 your task is to place the a stone ball in each pit to block the fire. Go up the only stair way to find a room with the first stone ball on a pillar. Place a mine on the design on the floor just next to the pillar. Step on the pressure plate to raise a new pillar and trigger the mine when it is at the same level as the stone ball to knock it to the ground. Defeat the enemies that spawn then roll the ball onto the pressure plate and place a mine next to it. Stand on the lower pillar and detonate the mine to raise the pillar and reach the Ammo Upgrade. Now roll the ball onto one of the fire pits. (Ball #1) Follow the path up the stairs, grapple the gold ring and rappel down to get a Health Upgrade. Climb back up and jump the gap to find a room with a raised platform with a hole and the second stone ball. To get this ball into the hole roll it flush with the raised platform then place a mine directly behind it and blow the ball onto the platform. (Ball #2). Leave the room by the stairs to the NE and sneak through the gap in the gate to enter a room with fire pits. Before you get the stone ball in this room, cimb down the ladder to the SE. Here go south to reach a pillar with Red Skull #1 atop it and a spider tile (tile #1) in the corner. NE on this path is a Challenge Tomb. ------------------------------------------------------------ Challenge Tomb: #12-1 ------------------------------------------------------------ |This is a room full of a spiked floor panels with a switch that activates |them. Trip the switch a few times, there are a few panels were no spikes will |appear no matter what. If you look at the panels you'll see a ground of 4 |in the NE corner like this where X represents a spiky floor panel: |_ _ _ |x|_|x| |_|_|_| |X|_|X| | |Stand on the panel between the two Xs on the left in the diagram and blow the |mine to create a path to the Stone Serpent. Standing on this panel will |deactive the trap and allow you to easily exit the Tomb. ------------------------------------------------------------ Returning to the room with the fire traps and the stone ball, create a spear platform on one of the pillars then pull the gold lever to raise the pair of wooden platforms attached to them. Run up to the platform then place a mine on the edge closest to the stone ball. Jump before the platforms collapse then detonate the mine to roll the stone ball to the edge of the platform. If it doesn't roll of, you can jump up on the ball and use your feet to roll it off the edge or mine it again. When you get the ball off the platform a pair of fire shooting enemies will pop up. Roll the stone ball next to the wooden gate then place a mine directly behind the ball. Jump onto the ball and through the gap in the gate. Run to the gold lever and pull it to open the gate then detonate the mine to force the stone ball through the gate and down the stairs to the room with the hole. Use mines to push this ball through the hole as well. (Ball #3) Leave the room by the SE path and jump the gap. Follow the path until you reach the wooden wall with spikes at the bottom. Create a spear platform to reach the top and deal with the enemies that spawn behind you. In the next room grab the Dual SMG on the pillar then continue on until you reach a cutscene where the wooden bridge rises and a stone ball rolls down the stairs. To lower the bridge you need to pull the lever blocked by the fire pits. Your first goal is to block the fireballs being shot from the wall. To do this grab the ball that just rolled down the stairs and roll it just outside the red circle design on the ground near one of the hands. Run to the hand and drop a mine on the inner side of it, near the inside wrist part. Grab the ball and blow the mine to make the hand rise up in the air. Quickly roll the ball underneath the hand to position it to block the fireballs. Now run up the stairs the ball rolled down and cross the fire pits in the floor and the lava gap to reach another stone ball. Roll the ball onto the circular depression near the lava flow and place a mine behind it. In the NW corner of this area you will find the second spider tile (tile #2). To get the ball across detonate the mine then immediately flip the switch to raise the pillar in the lava. If you don't do this in time, the ball may fall into the lava. Now lower the pillar and mine the switch once more. Jump on the pillar and detonate the mine to raise the pillar and reach the Health Upgrade. Jump to the other side and roll the ball down to the room and repeat the procedure above to block the fireballs with the other stone hand. Now follow the path in the NE corner and grapple the gold ring then leap off the side toward Red Skull #2 then pull yourself up with the grapple. Past the gold ring, trip the switch to put out the fire then mine the switch. Create a spear platform in the wall then jump onto it. Detonate the mine then quickly jump up, grab the ledge and pull yourself up before you get burned. Follow the path until you reach a gold lever. Pull the lever to put out the fire on the stone platforms. To grab Red Skull #3 and make it across without dying, the sequence is 1, 2, 4, 3. | 4 |1 2 3 | On the other side roll the ball next to the edge of the platform near the platform with the fire grates. Place a mine next to the ball and blow it across onto the platform. If it falls off another ball will spawn. Once it's on the platform you can follow it and push it closer to the far side as long as you can avoid being burned and grap the Ammo Upgrade. Go back to the platform where you found the ball, then pull the gold handle and run and jump across the small platforms to reach the other side. On the other side, jump to the big platform with the fire grates and place a mine behind the ball. Jump back to the safe platform and detonate the mine to get the ball across the roll it back down the path and back to the room with a pillar. Note: Somewhere in this room a pair of fire demons may appear. They have popped up in different parts of the room for me and also failed to appear. You can blow the ball onto the pillar to complete a Rward Challenge. To do so place the ball just beyond the square outlined in red tiles on the floor then place a mine and jump onto the pillar. If you have placed the mine right you can blow the ball to the pillar and grab it to keep it from falling off to obtain the Health Powerup. As you roll the ball into the tube to the NW, a lava giant will appear. Defeat him then run down the path back to the room, grab the ball and roll it onto the pressure plate to shut off the fire. Pull the gold lever to lower the bridge and roll all three balls down the wooden bridge. Defeat the enemies that appear then follow the balls into the next room and roll them into the circular tube. Follow the path back to the room with the platform and the hole and use mines to push all three stone balls into the hole. (Balls #4-6) Take the path to the SW from here to return to the main room with the stone gate and the fire pits. Roll all the balls into the fire pits to open the gate. Beyond the gate you'll see a Challenge Tomb to the left. ------------------------------------------------------------ Challenge Tomb: #12-2 ------------------------------------------------------------ |Trip the switch then drop a mine next to it. Stand next to the grate guarding |the item and create a spear platform on the pillar across from it. Stand on |the spear platform then detonate the mine to open the grate. As soon as the |grate opens jump through it or the spikes on the pillar will kill you. Get |the Mask of Tezcatlipoca, trip the switch with your weapon and exit the tomb. Here the best strategy I've found is run forward without rolling. If you just keep moving you can usually avoid any problems. In the first part the fire grates give you warning before they erupt. Red Skull #4 and #5 are in this area. Don't be araid to just stop on a fire grate and wait for the one in front of you to deactive just be sure you always have somewhere safe to step if you need to. Cross the falling floor then reach a second set of fire grates. Red Skull #6 is in this area. Beyond these grates you'll reach a second falling floor with Red Skull #7 and a little late on, #8. Right after Red Skull #8 there is a gap two panels long that you usually don't have the momentum to jump. Instead go to the to continue on and grab Red Skull #9 then swerve right and grab Red Skull #10. The last jump before you reach safety is two squares long so wait until you reach the edge of the platforms before you jump. Use a mine to blow the stone slab on your left to find the final spider tile (tile #3) then go through the door to end the level. _______________________________________________________________________________ Level 13: The Mirror's Wake [L13TMW]------------------------------------------- _______________________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------ Score Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ 150,000 Points 190,000 Points 240,000 Points (Golden Shotgun) ------------------------------------------------------------ Reward Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ Collect 10 Red Skulls (Jade Heart) Reach Xolotl's Stronghold in 6:00 or Less (Mask of Xolotl) Achieve a Hole-in-One (Stone Serpent) Break 2 Shields with 2 Truck (Health Powerup) Get the first spinning ball into the fire pit in 15 seconds (Ammo Powerup) ------------------------------------------------------------ Grab the spiky stone ball and roll it along the path. You will see a pillar and some explosive barrels and boxes near a wall. Blow up the boxes near the wall and follow the path here to find Red Skull #1 and some gems. Use the TNT barrel on the bridge to kill the shield-bearing enemy. Continue on and defeat the enemies that appear in the courtyard. Roll the ball through the gate to the SW and let it drop down. Drop down the wall (don't jump!) and roll it into the fire pit to win a Health Powerup. Defeat the big enemy that appears here and take the High Power Shotgun then follow the path up the stairs and to the left for a custcene. Knock the shield off the big enemies with the rocket launcher then defeat the enemies and grab the gold skull. You need the other two to open the big gate. Head left and up the stairs to find a doorway. Just to the south guarded by the fire breathing statute, is Red Skull #2. Inside the structure is a large maze filled with enemies and fireballs that will eventually lead to the next gold token you need to open the gate. Follow the path to the left to find a fire pit and an ammo cache. Your way forward is past the fire pit. To put it out, you need to continue left to find a spinning ball trap. You will also get a mini-objective of to Get the First Spanning Ball into its Fire Pit in 15 Seconds. My advice is to plant your mine so that when it explodes the ball flies off to the NW path. Then just grab it and roll all the way back to the fire pit. Keep it rolling and avoid the fireballs that fall. When a lava giant appears between you and the pit just run him over with the spiky ball. Past the fire pit, turn right and follow the lower path to find Red Skull #3. Keep going along this path and hug the stone wall to the east. Followin this path will take you to Red Skull#4 in the NW corner. Keep going along this path to see an ammo upgrade behind an item grate and a room with a pressure plate just south of you. Follow the path until it splits then and go east then turn and go south until you can't go south anymore. Turn east again then take the first left to reach the room with the pressure plate and the spiky ball. Roll the ball onto the plate then as fast as you make your way back to the split and follow the path, taking every right turn (Lara's right, not yours). If you are lucky, you can reach the ammo upgrade behind the grate before the ball is knocked off the pressure plate by the fireballs. Go back and grab the ball then roll it south and turn to Lara's right. At the next split, go left to find Red Skull #5. Return to the intersection and go north then go west (Lara's left) at the next intersection and roll the ball into the fire pit. In the room with the stairs, use the rocket launcher to break the shield then kill the huge enemy. After obtaining the second token, follow the path to the left to reach the pressure plate and a Dark Drum. Follow the path past the ammo cache to reach the entrance/exit. Out here go back to the main area with the gate then keep running to the right and deal with the two lava giants that appear. Follow the path to the stairs. To the right is a Challenge Tomb. ------------------------------------------------------------ Challenge Tomb: #13-1 ------------------------------------------------------------ |Roll the spiky ball onto the pressure plate and drop a mine. Stand so the |gold ring is across from you with the pillar and fire in between. Grapple the |gold ring then blow the mine and let the pillar rise up. Jump up and climb up |the pillar until you can't go any higher then jump to get on top of the |pillar and jump onto the ledge and grab the Clay Serpent.
------------------------------------------------------------ Continue down the stairs. Two more huge shield bearing enemies will appear on either side of a crashed truck. Blow the truck with a the rocket launcher to complete the Reward Challenge Break 2 Shields with 1 Truck. Red Skull #6 is in this area near the truck so blow it up regardless. Continue on past a pair of fire traps set in the floor. Red Skull #7 is just to your right. Walk forward and the traps behind you will activate. In the area with the three spinning fire statues, you'll find the last enemy with a shield token. Just counter-clockwise from Red Skull#7 is Red Skull #8. Red Skull #9 is in the western part of this area. After obtaining the shield token you may notice a gold ring on the ledge above you. To reach the gold ring, create a spear platform on the wall below it and stand on the platform. Jump backwards and fire the grapple. Climb up to enter a Challenge Tomb--the last one. ------------------------------------------------------------ Challenge Tomb: #13-2 ------------------------------------------------------------ |The mechanics of this Tomb are fairly simple. In a room full of fire grates, |destroy the spinning ball trap and roll the ball into the fire pit to open |the item grate whiles staying alive. The real task however lies in the Reward |Challenge of getting a Hole-in-1, you have almost no margin for error here. | |The spinning ball trap is located between four of the fire grates. Remove any |equipment that ehances the force of your mines and place the mine right in |the center of the firegrate just northwest of the fulcrum. Detonate the mine |approximately when the spinning-ball-trap is pointing straight down (relative |to the viewpoint). It will probably take a few tries to get the timing down. | |After you get the ball into the fire pit the grate will open and you can get |the Mask of Cipactli. The fire grates don't shut off after you get the relic |so make your way carefully to the exit. ------------------------------------------------------------ Now that you're done with all the Challenge Tombs, grapple the gold ring and rappel down from the ledge then run to the west onto the stone bridge to leave the area. Grapple the gold ring and pull yourself up then wall run as high as you can then jump straight up to grab the ledge and reach Red Skull #10 and the second Jade Heart. Jump to the stone bridge with the gems and follow the bridge. Jump the first gap and then the second even though it looks too far. You will end up near the beginning of the area so climb the stairs and hang a left to reach the gate that should now be open. Cross the bridge after Xolotl to end the level with a cutscene. _______________________________________________________________________________ Level 14: Xoltol's Stronghold [L14XS]------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------ Score Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ 80,000 Points 120,000 POints 140,000 Points (spear of Light) ------------------------------------------------------------ Reward Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ Defeat Xolotl in 10:00 or less (Spear of Darkness) ------------------------------------------------------------ Final Stage! This boss battle is divided into 3 stages. ------------------------------------------------------------ Achieving the Score and Reward Challenges: ------------------------------------------------------------ Points: If you are trying to get the point value achievement I ignore Xolotl and just kill spiders in stage 1. If you don't hit him he will just keep summoning them until you can work up to needed point values. While you can make up points in future stages, this is the only place where there are infinite enemies. The first time I tried, I missed my goal by 900 points. Time: If you avoid dying, it's possible to gain 140,000 points and defeat Xolotl within 10:00 minutes. Getting the point total in the first stage nets you the Spear of Light. If you have both Jade Hearts and the Mask of Xolotl from the Speed Run of level 13, it will only take two hits to deplete his lifebar. You can also use the railgun. Ignore damage and focus on hitting Xolotl when he appears in stages 2 and 3. One hit with the Spear of Light will also kill the lava giants that appear. ------------------------------------------------------------ Boss Battle: Xolotl ------------------------------------------------------------ Jump the gap to initiate the battle. ------------------------------------------------------------ Stage 1: Spiked Floor Panels ------------------------------------------------------------ Xolotl will stand on the platforms on the sides of the area and there is giant spiky pillar blocking the way forward. There is no single safe spot--you must keep moving to stay alive. Look for the blue circles, they telegraph where the spikes will shoot up so just stand on a panel without a blue circle. It helps to equip speed boosting items. Shoot Xolotl with the spear or other ranged weapon after his life bar appears. After working away his life bars he will change his battle tactics. Here he will summon a bunch of spiders to attack you. Use a rapid-fire weapon or mines to dispose of them. ------------------------------------------------------------ Stage 1: Spiked Floor Panels ------------------------------------------------------------ Xolotl will stand on the platforms on the sides of the area and there is giant spiky pillar blocking the way forward. Here he will summon a bunch of spiders to attack you. Use a rapid-fire weapon or mines to dispose of them. Continue to doge the spiked panels and shoot Xolotl. His pattern of summoning the panels is random here but there is one that looks like a no win: Panels are summoned all along the outside of the arena, then blue circles fill the entire area where you are standing. There is no safe place to stand. To survive this stand where the FIRST spikes appeared along the outside of the arena. The spikes go down in the order they came up so you can quickly stand on this area once the spikes go down before the second set of spikes come up. Usually this on the right just across from the platform on that side. After depleting Xolotl's life bar a second time, he will launch the spinning spiky pillar at you. Just like in the Spider Tomb level, place a mine and blow the spiky pillar into the air then roll under it to end stage 1. Follow the path to an ammo cache and healing fountain and continue on to a platform with poisonous pods. ------------------------------------------------------------ Stage 2: Poisonous Plants ------------------------------------------------------------ At the start of this battle, Xolotl will emerge from a shadowy portal (of evil) where you are standing causing a an area-attack shockwave. To avoid getting hit by Xolotl just keep moving and he will always appear a few steps behind you. As soon as you are at a safe distance from the shockwave, turn and attack Xolotl with any weapon you care to use. Rapid-fire works better because he doesn't stay in one place long, but I have beat him with only the basic Totec Spear. The trick is to turn and fire then keep moving so he doesn't land on you. After depleting his life bar, Xolotl will summon skeletons lizards and even one of the large poison shooting enemies while continuing to emerge from the portals. Continue to run and gun to deplete his second lifebar. Note: Even if you don't hit Xolotl with anything, his shockwave will usually hit the poisonous plants causing them to rupture and injuring him. Thus even if you just defend yourself he will eventually injure himself enough to deplete his entire lifebar and flee. Follow Xolotl to another healing fountain and ammo cache then jump down the stairs to reach the final area. ------------------------------------------------------------ Stage 3: Lava Pit ------------------------------------------------------------ Xolotl will appear on a ledge to the NW in a cutscene. The battle will start with a huge rain of fiery rocks. Dodge them and run to the stairway that is closet to the platform. Xolotl will appear there while fiery rocks are flung around. Hit him as hard as you can before he leaps up and another huge rain of fire falls down until you deplete his lifebar. Now the giant lava monsters will start climbing out of the lava at you. This is where you need to guard your ammo as there are between 6-10 of them that emerge two at a time. There is ammo and health packs on the platform and the monsters themselves drop them. If you run out of ammo, you can kill these guys with the spear but it takes a very long time. Xolotl will appear on the platform to the SE that you jumped off of to reach the level. You cannot hit him here so just wait. Another big rain of firey rocks will fall on the platform just keep running around dodging them. They tend to follow you so I usually run clockwise around the platform to avoid them. Xolotl will now begin appear and try and attack you similar to how he did in stage 2 while the rocks continue to fall. Once you deplete about half his life bar he will go to the center of the platform and shoot energy blasts in all directions at you. If you have sufficient life left just stand in one spot and blast him with the most powerful weapon you have at hand. When you deplete his lifebar this time, he will fall over and the ending cutscene will play. Note: To beat the reward Challenge "Defeat Xolotl in 10:00 or Less" you should get the Spear of Light from the point totals challenge. If you use the Spear of Light, it only takes 2-3 hits to deplete his lifebar so you can dispatch him very quickly. Other than that, just try not to die in the spikes and you should have no trouble beating him in time. Congratulations!
