INTRODUCTION ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Football Genius is a "quiz game" in the vein of Scene It? and Trivia Pursuit. To play this game, you'd need to have a good knowledge of football (called "soccer" in some parts of the world). The achievements can be considered quite easy for someone who has been watching the game for years, but some of the questions can be quite ridiculously hard even for the seasoned pro. You'd need a large dose of luck to get the full 200GS for this game, as I did. I'll explain as we go to the achievements proper. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3. THE ACHIEVEMENTS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ There are 12 achievements with a total of 200GS. To get most of the points, I'd suggest that you plug in a second controller. STARTER (10) ------------ Description: Answer the first Kick Off question correctly before any other players This can be easily unlocked by using a second controller. The first quiz type in any game session will be "Kick Off". In this mode, you basically pick the correct answer out of four choices. When the first question appears, simply use the first controller to answer it (correctly, of course), and you'll get an easy 10G. VICTOR (20) ----------- Description: Win a game against at least one opponent Play through a whole game (either half time or full time) with a second controller, and make sure that your first controller wins. Easy! HATTRICK (10) ------------- Description: Answer three questions correctly in a row As long as you have some football knowledge, sooner or later you'll get three in a row. I find that the easier round to score three in a row are: - Match It - On Side In the "Match It" round, you're required match the names of players and coaches to their photos. Most of these are really easy if you've watched some football over the years. In "On Side", you'll be given two entities (players, coaches, teams), one on each side. A clue will appear above them, and you'll need to choose the side that represents the clue. Many of these are pretty straightforward. These are just my recommendations though. You may be strong in other rounds, so feel free to net your hattrick as you see fit. :) STRIKER (20) ------------ Description: Answer 30 questions correctly in a single game I'd suggest plugging in a second controller for this one, and play a full time game. This is just so that you'll get to play through eight rounds, which provides a better opportunity for netting 30 correct questions. You don't need to answer them in a row, just get 30 right through the eight rounds. Again, try to score as many correct answers as possible in your stronger rounds. PERFECT THROW-IN (15) --------------------- Description: Answer a throw-in question correctly with only one hint on the screen A "Throw-In" round works this way. You'll receive hints on the screen, one at a time, up to four hints. All four hints will lead to one correct answer. An example is shown below: ----> Born in the 1980s ----> Captain of his former club ----> Top-scorer in his first season at his current club ----> Euro 2008 Winner The correct answer is "Fernando Torres" for this one. You'll unlock this achievement if you guess correctly at the first clue, which is "Born in the 1980s". I've read on some forums that this achievement did not unlock for some people. My suggestion is to keep trying and it should unlock eventually. PAPARAZI (10) ------------- Description: Answer five picture questions correctly in a single game The following are rounds that involve pictures: - Match It - Get the Picture - Phased Out I've explained "Match It" earlier in "Hattrick. For "Get the Picture", an image will shown. A few questions will be asked about the picture. For "Phased Out", a distorted image is revealed as time ticks down. You'd need to guess the identity of the picture (players, coaches, teams). Just play through a full time game, and you should be playing a couple of the above rounds. Answer five correct (cumulative across the rounds, in a session) to net the points. UNTOUCHABLE (15) ---------------- Description: Win a foul play round without receiving any fouls The "Foul Play" round is accessible only in multiplayer, so plug in a second controller to play it. In this round, three questions will be asked. If you answer it correctly, you'll get the chance to show a card to your opponent. Do it three times, and you'll send the opponent off, without receiving any fouls yourself. If none of the players answers, all players will receive a card. So, just ensure that you answer correctly three times in a row, and card the second controller for the achievement. You should unlock this after a few attempts. Most of the questions here are pretty easy in my opinion. TACKLE DEVIL (20) ----------------- Description: Tackle over 2500 points from one player in a single game "Tackle" is another round that you play only in multiplayer. Start the game with a second controller, and make sure that your dummy opponent actually scores some more than 2500 points before the "Tackle" round. If the second controller has less than 2500 points before this round, you may find it hard to steal points from it. What happens in a "Tackle" round is that a series of questions will be asked. Once you answer one correctly, you'll be given the chance to "tackle" points from your opponents. The number of points you steal will depends on how fast you answer the question. Simply steal 2500 or more points to unlock this achievement. A series of about five to six questions will be asked here. If, in the un- fortunate event that your second controller doesn't have enough points, let it steal some points from you in one question, before you steal them back in the next one. GLORY BOY (10) -------------- Description: Keep possession of the ball for the entire Dribble Round Undoubtedly the hardest achievement in this game. The "Dribble" round is also multiplayer only. In this round, the first person to answer the question correctly will keep the ball, and begin "dribbling". You should see the icon of a ball under your gamertag when you answer the first question right. The twist to this achievement, however, is that you must answer ALL the questions correctly! There are about 10 questions in this round, and many of them are extremely difficult. I can only advise you to keep trying until you get them right. There's no trick to this, just knowledge and maybe some luck. Also note that when you answer one question wrong, the "ball" may still show under your gamertag, but you must definitely answer all 10 correctly to unlock the points. ALL ROUNDER (20) ---------------- Description: Get one answer correctly in each of the nine rounds throughout a single game The nine rounds are: ---> Kick Off Each Question has four possible answers. Answer correctly to score points. ---> On Side Clues will appear on the screen. Press the button to match the clue to the right answer. ---> Dribble Each Question has four possible answers. Fastest correct answers scores points and the ball. Consecutive answers with the ball scores double points. ---> Foul Play Fastest correct answer chooses a player to card. Three cards and you are out. If nobody answers then everybody is carded. ---> Match It Each clue has one possible answer. Buzz in to match the picture to the clue. ---> Get the Picture A question related to an image will be shown. Press the button matching the right answer. ---> Throw In Clues appear on the screen as time ticks down. First person to buzz in gets to answer. ---> Tackle Each question has four possible answers. Fastest correct answer chooses a player to tackle points from. ---> Phased Out An image is revealed as time ticks down. First person to buzz in gets to answer. Dribble, Tackle and Foul Player are multiplayer only. Plug in a second controller to play them. A full time multiplayer game only has eight rounds, so you may have to play through at least twice to get this. Just make sure that you get at least one correct answer in all the above categories. FOOTBALL FAN (30) -------------------- Description: Answer 200 questions correctly See "Football Genius". FOOTBALL GENIUS (30) -------------------- Description: Answer 500 questions correctly Both these achievements will come naturally if you play the game enough.
