Introduction [introx] --------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is my second guide for the Viva Pinata series, the first being a variant guide for VP1. I have loved VP from the moment I started playing and that feeling has held true for the second installment. I was the second non-beta tester to the level cap, 196, and I have personally confirmed all of the information contained within this guide. If this guide looks familiar it is because it is in the same format as my first guide. I appreciate all feedback and comments and would love to hear from you if this guide was helpful, if something is incorrect, you have an addition you feel would improve the quality of this guide or negative feedback as well. My contact information is located at the end of the guide. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- + II. Purpose [purposex] --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The purpose of this guide is to outline each Pinata species, and provide that species' variants along with the materials required to produce that variant. Each pinata has its basic form that you acquire when it first becomes a resident or you buy it from Gretchen. Aside from this basic form, most pinatas have three color variations although there are a few exceptions. Acquiring a new variant for your pinata is simply a matter of feeding it different items available in your garden obtained through different methods. If you already know which Pinata you are searching for, you can use the [Quick Search] function of your browser or word processor to jump to it. Simply use the format of [pinatanamex]. For example, if you wanted to jump to Galagoogoo variants, just type in "galagoogoox" in the quick search field. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- + III. Variant Experience [experiencex] --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aside from having all of the vibrantly colorful and occasionally drab variety provided by obtaining each pinata variant there is another motivation at play. Experience. There is actually quite a substantial amount to be had by obtaining every variant. I will break down the math of the amount of experience for obtaining every variant: 85 pinata * 3 variants * 4 experience petals = 1020 9 flutterscotch variants * 4 experience petals = 36 Total amount of experience possible = 1056 petals The average number of experience petals required from 40+ is 60 so you would get 17.6 levels from variants alone [and that is only if you waited until 40]; obviously it would be equal to more levels with lower experience requirements. For as simple as obtaining the materials are it is definitely worth the time for experience alone. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- + IV. Variant Materials [materialsx] --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Simply by eating different items your pinata will magically exhibit a new color pattern! A variant is acquired by eating either a seed, flower, fruit, vegetable, produce or tinkered item. These items are broken down into categories with the source of the item and which pinata requires that specific item. Seeds can be bought from Costalot's store or you can obtain random seeds by Talking to Seedos. Flowers all have to be grown from seeds on your own. However, you have the option to purchase fruits and vegetables at Costalot's. Produce can also be bought at her store. Tinkered items require the help of Bart. You can access him from the village menu and select the items you would like for him to tinker. He will come out to your garden and change them into the desired item. The items are listed with the gardener level at which they can be obtained. Please note the distinction between the SEED and FLOWER sections- they are completely different and you will bang your head on the wall if you look at the wrong one and wonder why your pinata is not cooperating! + Seeds --------------------------------------------------------------------------- +Apple [8] --no variants-- +Banana [26] Lackatoad, Moozipan +Bird of Paradise [31] Bonboon, Quackberry --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- + VI. Common Questions [questionsx] --------------------------------------------------------------------------- +Why don't I have item "X"? You either aren't a high enough level, have met certain requirements or you have overlooked it. Unfortunately this isn't an item guide but I have provided the gardener level that most of the items are supposed to be available. +Why won't my pinata eat variant requirement "Y"? Sometimes pinata are stubborn and it will take multiple directs to the item for the pinata to finally eat it. If your pinata is very unhappy it can make this process even more cumbersome. If it still won't listen feed it some happy or joy candy and it should follow instructions much more easily now. +My pinata is happy and it still won't eat! WHY?! If you put the item on a surface that the pinata cannot be placed on then sometimes it will not be able to reach it. A desert pinata is not going to travel on the snow to get a snack. It is also possible for pinata to get stuck on surfaces that they are not supposed to be on and this can prevent them from moving to your item as well. Check and make sure they have a clear path on a surface they can walk on when trying to direct them to an item. +Why don't you talk about "Z" in this guide? It's really important. This guide is about variants and all of the mechanics and items related to them. That is all. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- + VII.
