Blitz the League 2 is one of my fave games and I wanted to create a sweet walkthrough for those new to the game since I could not find any online. I hope you enjoy it! This game plays a lot different than Blitz the League 1! First off, Brawls are gone, so are the options to treat an injury instead of being able to treat or juice an injury. Also gone are the already-named rookies (with no option to change the names), team staff, team gear that you buy, cheerleader unlockables, and the 33 game season. Instead, this game now has Late Hits, precision (and MUCH more graphic) injuries, Prison Ball, customizable rookie name, winnable team gear, player drafts, girlfriends, and an Agent, with a 25 game season. Anyway, let's get started! ================================ GETTING STARTED ================================ [GSTRT] Welcome to the League, Rookie! You're about to enter a world of Dirty Hits, Trick Plays, Bone-breaking and Season-Ending Injuries, Behind-the-Scenes Politics, and Game-Changing Unleashes! This isn't for the faint-of-heart! It's a smash-mouth, hard-hitting, injury-causing football game that is anything but Rated T! Play your best, train hard, get the best supplements you can buy, draft wisely, and maybe someday... SOMEDAY your Rookie will win the Blitz Cup with his Hometown Team! Good luck, Rookie! You're gonna need it! Once you know how to control your player, you can skip ahead to the Training Mode before you jump into Campaign Mode. ==================================== GAME CONTROLS ==================================== [CTROL] --------------- CHOOSING A PLAY [LEFT STICK] or [D-PAD] Up or Down -- Scroll through formations [TRIANGLE], [SQUARE], or [X] -- Choose formation, or a play [R1] -- Flip the play before selecting it [CIRCLE] -- Return to scrolling through formations --------------- OFFENSIVE CONTROLS - Pre-Snap [CIRCLE] -- Skip Cutscene (return from injury, TD celebration, etc) [SQUARE] -- Audible, + [R2] -- Flip play formation [L1] -- Zoom camera out [L2] -- Display play diagram [LEFT STICK] -- Send man in motion [L2] + [LEFT STICK] left or right -- Move camera left or right [X] -- Hike the ball [SELECT] -- Call timeout [START] -- Pause menu --------------- OFFENSIVE CONTROLS PASSING PLAYS - Post-Snap [LEFT STICK] -- Move player [TRIANGLE] -- Jump / Catch the ball when thrown [L2] + [R3] -- Quarterback Evade move [X], [CIRCLE], [TRIANGLE], or [SQUARE] -- Throw to indicated receiver [L2] -- Clash / Unleash modifier [R1] -- QB Jump move [R2] -- Turbo [START] -- Pause menu --------------- OFFENSIVE CONTROLS Running Plays or Receiver - Post-Snap [LEFT STICK] -- Move player [TRIANGLE] -- Jump / Catch the ball [CIRCLE] or [RIGHT STICK] -- Evade [SQUARE] -- Dive [X] -- Power move [L2] -- Clash / Unleash modifier [R2] -- Turbo [START] -- Pause menu [RIGHT STICK] -- Evade / Taunt --------------- DEFENSIVE CONTROLS -- Pre-Snap [LEFT STICK] -- Move player [TRIANGLE] -- Control your Team Captain [SQUARE] -- Defensive Audible [X] or [CIRCLE] -- Cycle through defensive players [L2] -- Display play diagram [L2] + [LEFT STICK] left or right -- Move camera left or right [SELECT] -- Call timeout [START] -- Pause menu --------------- DEFENSIVE CONTROLS - Post-Snap [LEFT STICK] -- Move player [TRIANGLE] -- Jump / Intercept the ball [CIRCLE] -- Switch Defender [SQUARE] -- Dive [X] -- Tackle [X] -- (When engaged) Break through block by mashing button [L2] -- Clash / Unleash modifier [L2] + [X] or [SQUARE] -- Dirty Hit / Unleashed Hit [R2] -- Turbo [START] -- Pause menu Note: You must have CLASH in your Clash Meter in order to do a Clash move, and you need to have earned Unleashed Mode to turn your Clash Meter into an Unleashed Meter to do an Unleashed move. ============================ ON THE FIELD BASICS ============================ [OFLDB] --------------- CLASH ICONS Earn Clash Icons to unlock Unleashed Mode! Here is the list of Clash Icons you can earn: 3-Man Aerial Attack Clash Catch Dirty Hit Evasion Injury Late Hit Power Move Slippery Ball Taunt TD Celebration Team Captain Hit Touchdown Turnover Weather Juke Note: There is NO Clash Icon for getting a SACK! You will get Clash only for a sack if you tackle the opposing QB behind the line of scrimmage, but no Sack Icon! --------------- KICKING When you choose a kicking play, hit the corresponding button in sequence to have the best chance at making the kick. For field goals, nudge the [LEFT STICK] ever so slightly left or right to direct the ball into the direction you want the kick to go. Note: The direction of the kick is VERY sensitive when going for field goals, so you will not need to move the kicking arrow much to kick the ball left or right! Note: In 2-player games, your opponent can push the [TRIANGLE] button on their controller to make your own controller vibrate to throw you off your timing! Note: Unlike Blitz the League 1, the Onside Kick rarely gets you the ball back. Do not expect to get the ball back very often when using the Onside Kick! -------------- INJURIES You WILL get injured in this game, no doubt! Here is what to do when an injury happens: Injections: For minor injuries that don't involve broken bones, you will need to move the [LEFT STICK] cross-hairs to the bulls-eye onscreen and press the [X] button. The closer you get to the bulls-eye, the shorter his injury time and the more stamina is restored to your injured player after he returns to the field. Remember: You only have a few seconds to do this! Broken Bones: Move the [LEFT STICK] and the [RIGHT STICK] to the positions indicated on the screen. When they are in proper position, try to mimic the directions the arrows are now pointing on the screen to snap the bones back into place. As with injections, the closer you are to the arrows, the shorter his injury time and the more stamina is restored to your injured player after he returns to the field. --------------- 3-MAN TACKLING: In order to do a 3-Man Tackle, you must first unlock Unleash Mode by getting enough Clash Icons. Once you have Unleash Mode, get close to the person carrying the ball and press [L2] and [X]. If you have a teammate close enough to the player being tackled, a 3-Man Tackle animation may occur! Be aware that sometimes 3-Man Tackles produce injuries, fumbles, or both! Also note that if the tackle is successful, this play will automatically refill your Clash Meter. --------------- HIT TARGETING: If you have enough Clash and go for a tackle using the [L2] + [X] or [SQUARE], you may be able to inflict an injury. The screen will change and show two or more circles indicating places you can injure on the opponent. Quickly move the [LEFT STICK] to the spot you want to injure and mash the [X] button. An injury animation will play and you will have injured the opponent. The more you mash [X], the better the possibility of a major injury. --------------- STAMINA: The more stamina a player loses, the more prone to injury he becomes and the worse he will play. Dirty Hits are a great way to lower an opponent's Stamina and cause injuries! Note: Most opponent Team Captains regenerate Stamina quickly during games and it is tough to weaken them at times. You may have to hit Team Captains several times to injure them. --------------- LATE HITS: Following a play, you may see "Late Hit" flash on the screen. In order to do a Late Hit, move your player close to the fallen opponent and continue to mash the [X] button. If the Late Hit is a success, you will receive a Late Hit Clash Icon and the opponent will endure a loss in Stamina. --------------- BREAKING TACKLES: Every now and then, your player will have a "Break" tackle animation occur when he is about to be tackled. Simply mash the [X] button to attempt to break the tackle. --------------- TAUNTING: When a ball carrier has broken away from the pack, "Taunt" may appear under him. Move the [RIGHT STICK] in any direction to do a Taunt and continue holding in that direction to complete the Taunt. If you have taunted for enough time, you will receive a Taunt Clash Icon! Continue as long as you can, moving the stick in any direction you want as long as you still Taunt, and get as many Taunt Clash Icons you can! Occasionally, the defense will make no attempt to tackle you near the endzone before you cross it to get a touchdown, so continue to circle your player around in a tight circle and taunt your way to as many icons as possible! --------------- TOUCHDOWN CELEBRATIONS: When you score a touchdown, you may be able to do a TD Celebration by pressing a combination of [X], [TRIANGLE], [SQUARE], and [CIRCLE] buttons. Find the right combination and you will receive a Touchdown Celebration Clash Icon! There are many combinations for these icons, see if you can find them all! Note: In Campaign Mode, you can only unlock three TD Celebrations per game, so even if you find more, you will need to re-do them in future games to unlock them. --------------- PAUSE MENU OPTIONS Instant Replay: Use the onscreen controls to view your replay. Call TimeOut: You have two timeouts per half. Use them wisely! Statistics: Here are the best statistics are listed for the game being played. Team Status: Check on how much Stamina your players have and see who is listed as injured. TD Codes: See what TD Codes you have unlocked already. Trophies: See what Trophies you have unlocked already. GamePlay Options: Change the options as you see fit. ============================= QUICK PLAY MODE ============================= [QPLAY] Choose a team, stadium, and play! This is a great place to practice with your Campaign Team! Take a game or two to get used to your playbook, players, and everything else. Even if a player is injured in this game mode, it does not carry over to your Campaign Team, so enjoy! ========================== TOURNAMENT MODE ========================== [TRMNT] Choose a team, how many user players, and go! Simulate or play your way through the Tournament! =========================== BONUS MODES =========================== [BMODE] Play a game with special conditions! Here's the list of what games are in Bonus Mode: Bone Crushers: There are no helmets in this mode, so the injuries will be multiple and often! (Must be unlocked) Butterfingaz: Each tackle causes a fumble, so the ball will be a slippery one indeed! Lucky 7's: You start off with a play worth seven points and it continues to count down by one for every play that fails to result in a touchdown. Score early for the most points! Make It, Take It: If you do score, you get the ball back until you turn the ball over or you run out of downs! Pain: As well as the usual way to get points, you will receive points for Dirty Hits, Unleashed Hits, and inflicting injuries! (Must be unlocked) Prison Ball: No kickoffs, Extra Points, First Downs, or helmets! This is a fast and brutal version of the game! Finally, you've completed training! You are ready for the League now! ============================ MY STRATEGIES ============================ [MSTRA] Here is what I do during Campaign games. This strategy works for me, but maybe it may not work for you. When betting, I usually bet the max during Division 3 games, except for the Div 3 Championship. In this case, I don't bet. For Division 2 games, I usually bet more conservatively. By the time Division 1 rolls around, I'm not worried about money too much and bet whatever I feel like before a game. When kicking off, do not press any of the indicated buttons and kick the ball to the side that Franchise is on. This way, you have a chance of getting Franchise an easy tackle, and maybe injury, during the play. If you have your Unleash Meter engaged, do NOT use it for this play. If you do, you will be left with nothing in your Clash Meter when you are on defense (unless you were lucky enough to cause an injury on the play). If the ball is kicked out of bounds during the play, at least the opponent doesn't gain any Clash on the play! Also on kickoffs, I only go for an onside kick if I'm losing. This is because the onside kick rarely gets me the ball back (unlike onside kicks in the first Blitz the League game). On kickoffs that I receive, if the opponent has his Unleash Meter filled, I move the player to the sideline and run forward. Usually, the defense will engage its Unleash Meter and this will then drain the meter completely, leaving the defense with no Clash during your offensive assault! Also on kickoffs I receive, I usually run down the sideline and dive out of bounds before a defender can Dirty Hit me (when the opponent does NOT have his Unleashed Meter engaged). This way, I don't have to worry about fumbling the ball, getting injured, or losing whatever Clash I have earned on that play. For defensive plays, all I use is FIELD GOAL BLOCK. It works for me, but does not get me many shutouts. Also, take note that if you chase an opponent from behind that has the ball and you try to tackle him, if he has Clash left, he may very well end up injuring your defender. On defense, select Franchise with the [TRIANGLE] button before the play. Line him up on either side of the line of scrimmage outside the defensive end. Blitz him when the ball is snapped and perform a Dirty Hit if you can. Franchise will gain REPUTATION points for a variety of things. So far, all I've been able to figure out, Reputation doesn't mean much at all except it allows you to place bigger bets before games. Don't worry about Reputation that much. For field goals, remember what I said about the kick meter direction being VERY sensitive. Remember to barely nudge the arrow left or right in these cases. On offense, I usually only use the HAIL MARY set. For runs and two-point conversions, I use any play that sweeps the running back left or right. For passes, I pass to the receiver that is closest to the sideline. I move the QB towards the sideline and then straight back before I throw, holding the Turbo button [R2] the entire time. Then I lob the pass to the receiver (tapping the receiver's corresponding button) and go into Clash Mode a second after throwing the ball. I then press the [CIRCLE] button to activate the receiver I am throwing to, and try to get my receiver to shake off the defender by leading the defender away from where the ball will land. I try to time it so I reach the landing spot before the ball, or the defender, does and Clash Catch the ball. For runs, I sweep outside and try to do a Clash move just as the defender is going for a tackle. During the fourth quarter, running the ball usually isn't the best thing to do. The game has a very nasty habit of going out of its way to injure your running back during the fourth quarter. The only time I run during the fourth quarter is when the defense has no Clash in its Clash Meter, or I'm trying to run out the clock. In the latter case, I just run and dive once I get to the line of scrimmage. After touchdowns, I usually kick the extra point. No need to risk injury and a loss of a point by going for a two-point conversion. If I have engaged the Unleash Meter, I usually will try a two-point conversion by running (except during the fourth quarter, as explained above). Don't forget that when you score a touchdown, to go for a Touchdown Celebration that will earn you a Pip for your Clash Meter! For defending against the extra point, I use FIELD GOAL BLOCK as my play and try to Dirty Hit the QB with the cornerback closest to him. This is why when I train my cornerbacks, I alternate SPD and TKL training on them. I don't worry about leading the League in any stat category. I have yet to achieve the Defensive Leader trophy in any division. After playing this game since it came out, I still don't know how to accomplish this. ============================ IN-GAME TIPS ============================ [INGAM] --------------- In-game tips that appear during the loading screen (missing #58!) 1. If your player is getting pummeled by Late Hits, press the displayed button when the Counter prompt appears to turn the tables. 21. In Unleash Mode, pull off a 3-man tackle by pressing and holding [L2] + [X] when there are two defenders close to the ball carrier. 22. Attempt to break a block by pressing the [X] button when your active player is being blocked. 23. To break free from a block to get a clean rush at the Quarterback, press the [X] button when your active player is being blocked. 24. Hit Targeting allows a player to choose which body part they would like to injure. 25. A successful Unleashed move while scoring a touchdown awards a Stamina boost to the player who performed the Unleash. 32. To slow down a Scrambling QB, call defensive plays that spy the quarterback. 33. Take advantage of each earned Unleash to make a big play and give yourself a better chance to win the game. 34. Pay attention to the Clash Meter. Once it turns into the Unleash Meter, an Unleash Move can be executed. 35. Landing big hits on Team Captains earns you an extra Clash Icon. 36. The Needle: Get the needle as close to the center as possible to get your player back in the game more quickly. 37. Bone Setting: Set the bones back in by moving the left and right sticks in unison to correspond with the on-screen prompts. 38. Before the ball is snapped, call an audible by pressing the [SQUARE] button if you feel the need to changed the play on the fly. 39. Training is key to improving your campaign team's skills and abilities which directly impact the level of play on the field. 40. Check out the training screen to see how your campaign team's players are progressing. 41. Buying juice for your campaign team's players can give them a big advantage in the next game, but not without risk. 42. Build Franchise's Reputation Meter with great play on the field and nurturing new business deals off the field. 43. Solid play by Franchise will open a lot of doors with sponsors who may express interest in having him endorse their products. 44. Sponsors play a key role into building your Reputation Meter. 45. Being the new Face of the League isn't easy, and Franchise can expect to encounter many challenges throughout his journey. 46. Records are meant to be broken. See if Franchise or any other of your players can break any of the League Records. 47. Breaking records with your Franchise player will boost your player's Rep Level. 48. Sudden direction changes while moving over weather hazards can cause a player to slip. 49. Loose balls that land on weather hazards can be difficult to pick up. 50. Use Clash to juke or stiff arm defenders standing on weather hot spots to earn an additional Clash Icon. 51. Getting tackled while standing on a weather hot spot increases the chance of fumbling the ball. 52. Experiment with various four button codes after scoring a touchdown to unlock hidden Touchdown Celebrations. 53. Check the TD Codes option on the pause menu during a game to see the list of TD Celebrations you know how to perform. 54. Some Touchdown Celebrations can only be unlocked by playing through the Campaign Mode. 55. You can attempt to counter an opponent's break tackle by rapidly pressing the [X] button. 56. You can gain an extra Clash Icon by tackling a ball carrier while they are in the air. 57. When kicking the ball, the more buttons you press accurately, the further your kick will go. 58. ??? 59. The more accurate you are juicing an injured bone, the faster the injured player returns to the game. 60. Pressing and holding [L2] while on offense activates Clash and slows down time. 61. Pressing and holding [L2] while on defense allows your active player to make brutal tackles. 62. When a player loses Stamina, it lowers their overall performance on the field, slowing them down and making them more likely to get injured. 63. You can lower an offensive player's Stamina by landing big tackles and pummeling them with late hits. 64. You can lower a defender's Stamina by using evades, jukes, and spins and stiff arms on them while in Clash mode. 65. Players recover a portion of their Stamina between quarters and recover full Stamina at halftime. 66. As Franchise's Reputation Level rises, you will be a be to wager more on your campaign games. Reputation: Play well on the field to help boost your image. Complete challenges to make your name known. Gain sponsorships and look good in off-the-field events. TD Codes: After scoring a touchdown, input a four-button TD Code. Choose from known celebrations to humiliate your opponent. Try your luck at unlocking hidden celebrations. Hit Targeting: In defensive unleash, select a body part to hit. Mash the [X] button to maximize injury potential. Hitting the same target again increases chances of injury. Weather Hazards: Weather hot spots cause players to slip on the field. While on hot spots like mud, fumbles become much more likely. Juke while your opponent is on a hazard to cause them to slip. ============================ SUPPLEMENTS ============================ [SUPLM] You can buy supplements to help your team during the game. The legal supplements won't get you fined or anything. The banned substances can get your team fined or your stats for the game can be disallowed. Use those at your own risk. If Tara becomes your girlfriend during Campaign Mode, all prices will be cut in half. Legal Supplements (no risk involved): Plascerol ($5,000): Reduce the Stamina loss from tackles by 25 percent. Trilophene ($10,000): Decrease Clash drains by 25 percent. Suluston ($15,000): Increase the Stamina loss to opponents by 50 percent. Rytitol ($20,000): Turbo bar drains 50 percent slower. Banned substances (mild risk involved): Droxilyn ($5,000): Reduce the chance and severity of injuries sustained by the juiced player. Ziolphene ($15,000): Offense can move in and out of Clash faster. Lastix ($20,000): Gain +2 Stamina for every successful Clash or Unleash move done. TGP ($20,000): Regenerate 2 Stamina each play he's on the field. --------------- JUICE OF THE WEEK The last supplement on the banned substances is the Juice of the Week. It will be a random (or is it TRULY random?) substance, but it will still be banned. This has a HIGH RISK of being caught attached to it plus it is very expensive, so use with the utmost caution. Andersol ($55,000): Removes the cool down effect from Clash. BF-56 ($65,000): Ball carrier gets a Clash Icon for every 30 yards gained in a play. Cyloderm ($75,000): Clash and Turbo drain 50 percent slower. Dirty hits cost 50 percent less Clash. Hoptenal ($40,000): Reduce the stamina loss from tackles by 50 percent. Krextol ($40,000): Gain an extra point to whatever skill is being trained that week. Letaciline ($40,000): Successful Clash moves drain Clash from opponent's Clash bar. Mastaphene ($60,000): Player is immune to Stamina loss. TGH ($80,000): Permanently gain +5 in a random statistic. Ultranol ($60,000): Increases the severity of injuries caused by the juiced player. Zoltox ($50,000): Juiced player is immune to injury. ============================ CAMPAIGN MODE ============================ [CAMPM] The mode starts with the Commissioner wanting your Rookie (Kid Franchise) to join his favorite team, the LA Riot. Your Rookie declines, saying he wants to play for his hometown team. This upsets the Commissioner, and he begins to plan the downfall of your Rookie. From here on out, your Rookie will be referred to as "Franchise" in the game. Franchise attends a press conference in which he answers questions from the press. You can usually get an overall grade of C or C+ when it is over. Don't worry about your grade too much, since it doesn't really make much of a difference between a C and a C+. You gain two attribute points per question once you've chosen the positions Franchise will play. Note: The Prison Ball game at the end of Division 3 is a very tough game, since Franchise can get injured easily during gameplay, forcing you to replay the game until Franchise wins Prison Ball. If you want to avoid this, you should not choose for Franchise to be a Quarterback during the conference, since any other position is fairly easy to avoid using during offensive plays in the Prison Ball game. Also Note: When Franchise answers questions, he may or may not say exactly what is printed on the screen. Don't worry about this, perhaps the actor was just ad-libbing his lines. And if you want the press conference to go a bit faster, hit the [X] button when the press is asking a question, and your Agent will hurry things along. Here are the questions asked at the conference (as printed on the screen) and the possible responses you can give: 1. How do you feel your presence on offense affects your teammates? Your response determines your offensive position. You can answer with: QUARTERBACK: I like to go out there and deliver good passes and let my playmakers do the work. HALFBACK: As a running back, I know that I need to go out there and control the game. WIDE RECEIVER: They can rely on me to make the big catch at any time. TIGHT END: I have the versatility to lineup and block or split out wide and make some catches. 2. How does your play on defense elevate the performance of your team? Your response determines your defensive position. You can answer with: DEFENSIVE END: I'm a legitimate threat to the quarterback every play. Offensive linemen can barely contain me. LINEBACKER: Any run or short yardage pass that enters my territory is going to pay the price. SAFETY: I'm the general on the secondary. I'm everywhere I need to be. CORNERBACK: I'm the ultimate shutdown corner. Throwing to my receiver is foolhardy. 3. What did you do for fun in your youth? Beginning with this question, you gain two attribute points per answer. Two points for one attribute, or you can gain one point for two attributes in some questions. Answer any way you feel is best for Franchise. STR + 2: I was too busy hauling hay bales around on Dad's farm. SPD + 2: Does running from the cops count as fun? AGL + 2: I was the best dodgeball player in my neighborhood. BTK + 2: Mostly I fought with my older brothers. 4. Did you play any other sports growing up? HND + 2: I was the goaltender for our soccer team. STR + 2: I was a collegiate champion wrestler. SPD + 2: Track and field was my second sport. TKL + 2: I played rugby as well as football. Twice the pain. 5. The thing most opponents don't realize about me is...? BLK: + 2: I'm a team player. I'll do the dirty work. Glory doesn't matter, just the win. TKL + 2: I studied martial arts. I know just where to hit them to make it hurt. HND + 2: My hands are like flypaper. Once I've got the ball, I'm holding onto it. BTK + 2: Catching me is one thing, bringing me down is a whole different story. 6. What have you been focusing on in the off-season? STR and BLK + 1: Hitting the blocking shed. BLK and TKL + 1: Full contact drills. SPD and AGL + 1: Running the obstacle course. SPD and HND + 1: One-on-one drills. 7. Which of the following nicknames best suits you? AGL and HND + 1: The Superstar. STR and TKL + 1: The Enforcer. SPD and BKT + 1: The Freak. STR and BLK + 1: The Wall. Note: No matter what nickname you choose here, Franchise is never called this at any point during the game. 8. Which current player do you try to model your game after? AGL and HND + 1: The Speed Demon, WR Tito Maas of the Arizona Outlaws. SPD and AGL + 1: The Ball Hawk, FS Ezekiel Freeman of the Cincinnati Crusaders. STR and TKL + 1: The Enforcer, LB Bruno Battaglia of the Los Angeles Riot. SPD and BKT + 1: The Prototype, RB Tyler Neal of the Denver Grizzlies. 9. What do you want people to say about you five years from now? AGL + 2: I was one of the quickest guys to ever put on a pair of cleats. HND + 2: Everything I put my hands on, I'd pull in. STR + 2: That kid could sure pack one hell of a punch. SPD + 2: You need a jetpack to be able to keep up with that guy. And so, with the conference finally over, the game gives you an overall grade for Franchise. Aren't you glad that the conference is finally over with? Onto more pressing matters: Time to give Franchise a first name! You can choose any name you want (within the allotted number of letters you can type in for his name). Do the same with his last name. Now onto what Franchise's hometown is. You can choose any of the following: Akron, Albuquerque, Anaheim, Anchorage, Ann Arbor, Annapolis, Arizona, Arlington, Atlanta, Aurora, Austin, Baltimore, Baton Rouge, Birmingham, Blacksburg, Boise, Boston, Buffalo, California, Canton, Carolina, Cedar Rapids, Charleston, Cheyenne, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Colorado Springs, College Station, Colorado, Columbia, Columbus, Compton, Concord, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Dayton, Daytona Beach, Denver, Detroit, Durham, El Paso, Flint, Fort Wayne, Fort Worth, Frankfort, Fresno, Gary, Gilbert, Green Bay, Greensboro, Hartford, Honolulu, Houston, Indianapolis, Iowa, Jacksonville, Kalamazoo, Kansas City, Knoxville, Lakeland, Lansing, Las Vegas, Lexington, Lincoln, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Louisville, Madison, Marietta, Memphis, Mesa, Mexico City, Miami, Milwaukee, Minnesota, Montreal, Nebraska, New England, New Jersey, New Orleans, New York, Newark, Norfolk, Oakland, Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, Orange County, Orlando, Ottawa, Palo Alto, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Plano, Portland, Quebec, Rachel, Raleigh, Reno, Riverside, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, San Juan, Santa Ana, Santa Fe, Sarasota, Scranton, Seattle, Springfield, St Louis, St Paul, St Petersburg, Syracuse, Tampa Bay, Tennessee, Texas, Tijuana, Toledo, Toronto, Tucson, Tulsa, Vancouver, Virginia Beach, Waco, Washington, Whitefish, Wichita, and Youngstown. Now it's time to choose a team name. If you can't think of one, here's a list I made on my Blitz the League website years ago (blitz2006.tripod.com). How about one of these? 5-Stars Action Addition AfterShock Aliens Allies Ambush Anacondas Anvils Archers Army Atomics Attackers Auroras Avengers Backlash Badgers BarbedWire BioHazards Bikers BioShocks Blackouts Blasters BloodRush Bombarders Boomers Borderline Brigade BullDozers Bullets Buzzers Caliber Cast-Iron Cavalry Chain-Gang Chainsaws Champions Chaos Charisma Cigars Citadel Cleavers Clusters Coasters Cohorts Cyborgs Daggers DareDevils DarkSide Deathless Death-Rays Deathtraps Dwellers Empires Evils Enforcers Fantastics Fugitives Fury Genesis Godsend Gremlins Hackers Hailstorms Hellspawn Hostiles Howlers Infantry Intrigue Invasion Jackals Jackknives Karma Lancers Lasers Legacy Locos Loners Machines Maelstrom Majestic Massacre Medallions Meddlers Menace Mercy Militia Minutemen Miracles Molars Monarchs MoneyClips Mustangs Nemesis Neutrals Neutrons Oars-men Oracles Ordnance Payback PenDragons Phosphors Photons Pigskins Pilgrims Pillars Pilots Poison PolarBears Presidents (for Washington) Renegades Quicksand Raw Revolvers Rustlers Sabers Saboteurs Saviors SawBlades Shoguns Silencers Slammers Stampede Stingers Squadron Taboo Talisman Tempters Termites Thrashers Tommy-Guns Toxins Trojans Troopers Tyrants T-N-T Ultras Vagabonds Valor Vultures Wallops War-Cry Warriors Wicked Wilderness --------------- UNIFORM DESIGN Time for some fun! Design the uniforms any way you want! Experiment with different combinations before choosing what your uniforms will look like. Remember, once you've accepted your uniform design, you can't go back! --------------- TEAM ROSTER Here is the roster for your team. These are the default positions and jersey numbers. Franchise replaces whomever the first-string player is at that position. Franchise's default jersey number is 9. Once you are able to prepare for the first week's game, you have the opportunity to rename and customize your players as you see fit (except you can't change Franchise's name). QUARTERBACK M.Linker 17 K.Guillotte 12 J.Stevens 13 HALFBACK B.Robey 21 B.Cox 34 D.Baxter 22 FULLBACK L.Schlosser 40 P.Jenkins 42 WIDE RECEIVER A.Ashwin 80 J.Mims 81 S.Bryant 82 C.Sheppard 87 K.Peterson 85 TIGHT END D.Cain 83 D.Baccus 89 T.Upton 88 CENTER C.Sikora 69 N.Fisher 60 GUARD J.Abrams 74 T.Wayman 78 M.Decarlo 75 T.Kim 76 PUNTER T.Waldman 10 KICKER D.Larson 2 DEFENSIVE END J.Cruz 94 B.Seager 99 J.Whitcomb 94 L.Miles 42 DEFENSIVE TACKLE W.Dyer 91 L.Golson 96 LINEBACKER J.Raymer 54 B.Barnes 56 B.Tarr 51 D.Webb 55 R.Craften 49 A.Phelps 35 CORNERBACK B.Pollack 24 M.Dupree 41 F.Warman 3 Q.Scott 23 SAFETY O.Hatcher 28 G.Mobley 31 J.Sims 27 T.Agarwal 35 --------------- WEEK 1 vs Philadelphia Brawlers [DV3W1] First thing to do is to answer the incoming call from your Agent. And just like the press conference earlier, the words on the screen may not be exactly what is said during phone calls, this call is an example of that: "Welcome to your first week in the League, Franchise! As the team captain, you need to support your team. Play hard during games. Make sure everyone is training every week. Keep them on the best supplements. And don't forget about socializing!" In each division, you need to win five out of seven games to advance to that division's championship game. If you lose too many games, your last loss won't count and you will have to replay that game. --------------- TRAINING UPGRADES Okay, now what? The next thing you will want to do is upgrade your team's training equipment. Go to TRAINER and then go to UPGRADES. What you see here is all the prices for the equipment you can buy for your team. You only have $100,000 to start, so you can't buy much right now. I go with the Level 1 BLOCK upgrade for $95,000 as my first upgrade. This will help my offensive linemen. You can choose something else if you want. --------------- Juicing If you want to juice up your players, go ahead! You can juice three players per week. Don't get caught using the banned substances, or your team will be fined, or worse yet, your stats will be stricken from the record books! Refer to the Supplements section of this FAQs for further information. I don't juice until late in the Campaign (except for Division Championship games). -------------- Training You can train your players in three ways. First, you can assign training routines yourself; second, you can assign training automatically; and third, you can choose not to train your players at all. The choice is up to you. Let's start by training the players manually, okay? For this initial walkthrough, I've got Franchise as my WR and LB. His training here and in the future reflects this. I usually train SPD and TKL on Franchise first, PAS on my QB, SPD on my first two wide receivers (this will come in very handy during the Division 3 Championship game), BTK on my HB, HND on my first TE, BLK on my offensive linemen, STR or TKL on my defensive linemen (whichever attribute is higher yielding), SPD on my first CB, TKL on my second CB, HND on my Safeties, nothing on B.Barnes since he will not be on the team that long, KCK on my kickers (obviously), and it doesn't matter much about the remaining, so I just put whatever I feel like on the remaining players. --------------- Division 3 All-Time Records Do you feel like breaking some records? Here's Division 3's records for you: Passing: 2006 QB Shane Spain 2,667 yards Receiving: 2003 WR Tito Maas 1,488 yards Rushing: 2002 Kwazi Mbutabe 1,640 yards Interceptions: 2007 FS Ezekial Freeman 10 interceptions Sacks: 2004 DE Jacob Williams 15 sacks Tackles: 2001 LB Bruno Battaglia 70 tackles --------------- Division 3, Game 1 After viewing the Brawlers video of DT H.J. Latshaw, their team captain, it's finally game time! Keep away from the Brawlers' team captain during the game if you can. Now, let's see how you do in your first game! Don't forget to review my strategies in the section just before Campaign Mode [MSTRA], it'll help you out a bit, I hope! Just keep an eye on Brawler's team captain, H.J. Latshaw, and you should do fine. If you don't like the way your game is going, quit at any time and replay the game. No need to worry about the game simulating the results and forcing you to accept a simulated loss. This goes for any game in the future, also. This is useful in case a major injury happens to your team. You can just quit and POOF, goodbye injury! If you decide to ride out a major injury, you have the opportunity to get the injured player back onto the field ASAP. Hire medical staff if necessary, and you should be able to get the injury time reduced to a week or two (even though you may have filled the medical staff working on your player, it can still take an extra week). Do this if you like, but why would you want to waste a training cycle without training all your starters if you can just quit when your player gets injured? Following the conclusion of your first Campaign game, you will see a summary of the money you received for your gameplay. Did you make a decent amount of cash and also win the wager? If this is your first playthrough, you will note you will be unlocking team captain videos, trophies, Touchdown Celebrations, and team gear after each game. Try to find all the Touchdown Celebrations on your own if you can! The best your team gear can be is 4-6-6-4 if you stay with Kim as your girlfriend through the entire Campaign. If you don't have Kim as your girlfriend at the end of the game, the best your gear can be is 4-5-5-4. --------------- WEEK 2 vs Baltimore Bearcats [DV3G2] Answer your phone. Your Agent calls with not much to say. You also receive a call from a woman named Kim. She will issue you a Challenge: Franchise must gain 200 combined yards next game. If you fail to accomplish this, Kim will ask you to get
a sack in the next game. Failing this also, Kim will no longer be of service to you, and you will not receive gear upgrades from her. More about Kim: She is your key to the sponsors. With her help, she will get you some fine gear for your team. The gear will boost your team's attributes by the indicated amounts. --------------- Training Training time again! I usually remove all the training from the past week from the players. This way, training doesn't negate whatever new training equipment I buy. Then I go into the Upgrade section and spend my money on upgrades. This time around, I have enough for the PASSING and SPEED first level upgrades. Then, I go into training and train my players just the same as last week, except I switch around the SPD and TKL on the cornerbacks. --------------- Division 3, Week 2 Bet the max and watch the video about the Bearcats' HB Mbutabe (or skip the scene and get to the game). Dirty Hit Mbutabe often during the game. Don't forget to try and get 200 combined yards so Kim will become your girlfriend. This shouldn't be too difficult. --------------- WEEK 3 vs Houston Riders [DV3G3] After the Week 2 game is over, Kim will want to meet at the bar. If you complete her next task that she has for you, she will become your girlfriend, thus this will begin a long and prosperous relationship. If you played well enough last game, your Agent calls and praises you for your gameplay and mentions your team has been awarded the Protector helmet. This has a +2 enhancement for injury resistance. If you were good enough so far, maybe you also have the Crunch Pads also that give a +2 boost to TKL. Meanwhile, the Commish has a sinister plan in mind and enlists the help of New York Nightmare Team Captain Quentin Sands! Time to welcome a new member to your team! --------------- Division 3, Week 3 As you prepare for the next game, don't forget that Quentin Sands is now one of your linebackers. He replaces B.Barnes on the team and wears Number 56. If you want, you can change his gear but not his name or appearance. --------------- Training Okay, strip your players again of their training, go buy some equipment upgrades with your new cash load. This time around, I had enough to buy Level 1 upgrades for STR, TKL, and BKT. Since I now have to train Quentin Sands, I gave Franchise SPD (since he's my WR) and HND, my second TE I gave INJ, and my first TE was given BKT instead of HND. I completed the rest in the usual manner. Onto the game. Watch the team captain video on the Riders' HB Daunell Sullivan. Try to Dirty Hit him as much as possible in the game. If you need to get a sack for Kim this game, it will be difficult since the Riders prefer to run a lot more than they pass. Tackling the QB during field goals and extra points does NOT count as a sack toward the task set by Kim! Hopefully you have completed the task set forth by Kim. If so, after the game, you are treated to a scene of Franchise with Kim at Franchise's pad. --------------- WEEK 4 vs Milwaukee Hounds [DV3G4] --------------- Training I only had enough money this time to upgrade HND. As you can see if you have been able to follow exactly, INJ and AGL are the only two upgrades that I haven't bought yet. I usually don't get these until everything else is purchased first. Also, after the Level 1 upgrades for PAS and BLK, I don't get any of the further upgrades on these either until much later. You should train your players as usual this time around, remembering to keep your cornerbacks about equal in comparison in SPD and TKL respectively. Kim should be listed as your girlfriend now under Lifestyle. ------------ Division 3, Week 4 Milwaukee has QB Conrad Damon as their tough team captain. It should not be too much of a problem to Dirty Hit Damon on extra point attempts by the Hounds. You should be able to beat them this time around if you're lucky. --------------- WEEK 5 vs Detroit Devils [DV3G5] --------------- Training I was able to get the SPD and TKL Level 2 upgrades this time out. After that, I just did the usual training regimen. Your Agent calls and issues you a Challenge of needing to get three touchdowns this week in order to please the sponsors. Important note: If Franchise is your QB, touchdown throws will NOT count toward your total. Franchise will need to run the ball for TDs in order to succeed at this Challenge. -------------- Division 3, Week 5 WR Cookie Wallace is the Devils' team captain. He's awfully fast, and can burn you for a few kickoff return touchdowns. Play your best and don't forget to get three touchdowns with Franchise! --------------- WEEK 6 vs Cincinnati Crusaders [DV3G6] After the game, Kim calls and tells you the sponsors were satisfied with your performance. She gives your team some new gear. By now, you should have the Level 1 Protector helmet (+2 INJ), Level 2 Impact shoulder pads (+2 TKL, +2 BTK), Level 1 Pro-Grip gloves (+2 HND), and the Level 1 J Jet shoes (+2 SPD). --------------- Training You know the drill by now: Remove all the training from your team, then go buy some upgrades. This time, I had enough to get the STR upgrade. Then, just train your players as usual. Pretty simple by now, huh? --------------- Division 3, Week 6 Your Agent calls with a Challenge: Gain at least 50+ yards on one play with Franchise next game. This should be easy enough by this point. Just make sure you have enough field to work with on offense and grind out 50 yards with Franchise, and there you go! Bet to the max and watch the video on Crusaders' team captain Ezekial Freeman, the Safety. He's a very good player so you should avoid throwing to his side during the game. If you don't, don't be surprised if he intercepts the ball. This is another reason why you should be training your wide-outs with SPD. In this game, the CPU has a habit of causing a major injury during the game. You may want to decide if you can afford to have the player remain injured, or if you want to replay the game when a major injury occurs. --------------- WEEK 7 vs Cleveland Steamers [DV3G7] After the Crusaders game, you are treated to a video of Franchise and Sands having drinks with some lovely ladies. Franchise is unaware that Sands puts the Commissioner's plan into action. The conclusion of what happens plays out after the Division 3 Championship game, so stay tuned. Potential girlfriend Tara calls. She will offer reduced juicing prices in the next Division, so watch for more about her in the future. --------------- Division 3, Week 7 By now, you should have been awarded the Level 2 Crazy Grip gloves. Don't worry too much if your gear isn't quite there yet. --------------- Training After removing all the training regimens for last week, I bought the equipment upgrades for BTK and HND. Then, it was back to training the players as usual. The Steamers have WR Henry Cho as their team captain. Cho is a very good receiver and it will not be easy keeping him from getting a lot of yards in this game. If you still haven't lost two games, you may want to just lose here and get to the Division Championship game quickly. Note that just like last game, the CPU has a habit of causing a least one major injury during the game. You may want to decide if you can afford to have the player remain injured, or if you want to replay the game when a major injury occurs. I went ahead in my walkthrough and allowed my first and second string halfbacks to remain injured since I don't run much anyway. --------------- WEEK 8, Division 3 Championship [DV3CH] You finally made it to the Division 3 Championship game, huh? Congratulations! There's still work to be done before you can advance to Division 2! Your Agent calls and talks about a Challenge to Dirty Hit Conrad Damon during the game. Conrad Damon is a slippery one in the Championship, this won't be easy! --------------- Training I did not have enough money to get the Level 3 SPD upgrade so I didn't buy anything. I trained my players as usual. Your top two wide-outs should have a SPD rating very close to 100 by now. --------------- Juicing Although I usually don't juice my players, I always juice them in Championship games. This time, I've gotten Trilophene (second from the left) for my HB and top two wide-outs. This will help drain their Clash meters 25 percent slower than usual during the game. --------------- Division 3 Championships You play against the Milwaukee Hounds in the Division 3 Championship. They will be a much tougher team this time around. One of the advantages this game is that if there is a major injury to your team during the Championship game, it will not carry over to the next game your team plays. This goes for if you injury Conrad Damon, too, which is good because Damon will be available to draft before the next Division starts and will be uninjured in case you injure him here. Use the weather conditions to your advantage this game. Defenders will slip on the snow quite a bit, so make sure to move your receivers around when evading the defenders before catching the ball. At the conclusion of the game, you will be the Champs of Division 3! If you completed the Challenge to sack Damon, you receive an extra $5,000! With Division 3 conquered, you will play in Division 2 soon! But first... --------------- PRISON BALL [PRISB] BUSTED!!! Franchise gets busted for using an illegal substance (courtesy of Quentin Sands earlier) and must pay the price. The Commissioner offers him a lucrative deal with his beloved Riot, but Franchise refuses! Off to prison for Franchise then. The Warden gives Franchise an offer he can't refuse: Play Prison Ball for his team and Franchise will be released early on good behavior. Franchise reluctantly accepts. Thus begins the toughest game in Campaign Mode. --------------- Division ?, Week ? There is no training available this week, nor any juicing options, so don't worry about that. What makes this game the toughest game in Campaign Mode is the fact that Franchise better not get injured this game, or you will have to replay it until Franchise not only wins the game, but gets through it uninjured! Easier said than done! If Franchise is your QB, try your best not to get sacked, since the game will more than likely injure Franchise on a sack. Another strategy is not to select Franchise on defense either when playing. His chances of getting injured will go down quite a bit. The opponent's team captain in Prison Ball is Karl Tirpitz. His position changes due to what position you have Franchise at on defense (or offense?). Tirpitz is a good player, but you won't notice him too much during the game. He will make an appearance again later on in the Campaign though. The game rules are a bit different for Prison Ball: There is no kicking game (field goals, kickoffs, or punts), no time-outs, only four downs to score, and a new playbook for you to use. Get used to these quickly in order to get through this game! Did you finally get through Prison Ball without too much frustration? Good! Prepare for your journey through Division 2! --------------- WEEK 1 vs L.A. Riot [DV2G1] Draft time! You can draft one of the following players. The choice is up to you. Each player has an A- rating. The player drafted replaces the corresponding player on your team. The players available are: FS E. Freeman of the Crusaders WR C. Wallace of the Devils QB C. Damon of the Hounds HB D. Sullivan of the Riders DT H.J. Latshaw of the Brawlers HB M. Mbutabe of the Bearcats Depending on your playing style, you may want to go with a QB or HB here. If Franchise isn't my QB, I usually pick up QB Conrad Damon. If Franchise is my QB, I usually choose HB Daunell Sullivan, although Mbutabe is a good choice here, too. Your Agent calls with a Challenge to perform three different Touchdown Celebrations during the next game. Remember that if Franchise is your QB, he needs to run for three touchdowns and successfully perform three different Touchdown Celebrations to complete the Challenge. --------------- Training By now, some of your players will have maxed out what they have been training at during the campaign. Time to switch some of those up. Don't forget to remove all the training regimens first, then go to Upgrades to buy new equipment. Unfortunately, at this time, I still don't have enough cash to get the Level 3 SPD upgrade, so I did not buy any Upgrades again. By now, your top two wide receivers should have maxed out SPD. Train them with HND next. Your center should have maxed out his BLK by now. Don't train him with anything just yet. BLK is available then for your best TE, so use BLK on him. SPD is available for both your cornerbacks, so train them both with SPD. The final SPD I used on my HB, or you can use that on the safety that you don't have HND on. The rest were trained as usual, and the left-overs went wherever I felt like. Starting this week, you should begin to notice that Franchise covers kickoffs well and you can get many tackles with him on this play since his SPD should be maxed out by now. Also, your cornerbacks are quick enough to be able to get to the opponent's QB on extra point plays most of the time, so stop the opponent from getting that extra point as much as possible! And if you do a Dirty Hit on that play, it's an easy Pip for your Clash Meter, and a possible injury to the opponent's QB! --------------- Division 2 All-Time Records Here's the list of the Division 2 records in case you want to try to break some of them: Passing: 2004 QB Grant Tanner 2,854 yards Receiving: 1981 WR Santana Rowan 1,566 yards Rushing: 2005 HB Kelvin Diggs 1,621 yards Interceptions: 1989 FS Tyrone Blevins 12 interceptions Sacks: 1976 DE Jeff Hanson 19 sacks Tackles: 2003 LB Quentin Sands 72 tackles --------------- Division 2, Week 1 The Commissioner's team is up next. With LB Bruno Battaglia leading the charge, the Riot take the field as your next opponent. Battaglia will sack your QB in the next game if you're not careful, so make sure you know where he is every play. One good thing about this game is that you are a 12 point underdog, so you just need to keep within 12 to win the bet even if you lose the game, so bet the max here. Don't forget to do three Touchdown Celebrations this game, and have fun in Division 2! --------------- WEEK 2 vs Kansas City Crossfire [DV2G2] After the Riot game, you are treated to a little dose of the brutal truth delivered by none other that Bruno Battaglia! After that, you get phone calls from your Agent, a teammate (about Tara), and Battaglia! If you had gotten over 200 yards offense last game, you will receive the Level 2 Pro Cleatz shoe gear for a +2 SPD! By now, you should have all Level 2 team gear, including the Level 2 Halo helmet that has a +5 INJ rating (from completing the last Challenge issued). --------------- Training Well, I finally have enough for the Level 3 SPD Upgrade! After buying that, I trained my players just like I did last week. --------------- Division 2, Week 2 Starting this game, betting is much riskier since the teams in Division 2 are better. I usually bet between ten and twenty thousand if the point spread is under twenty points. If the point spread is higher than that, I usually don't bet. You can take this advice or risk it if you want. This game is against the Kansas City Crossfire. Their team captain is Tyrell Price. Price may have put on weight since the last time you saw him in Blitz 1, but he's lost none of the speed or ferociousness from then. He will pressure your QB throughout the game, so be on guard. --------------- WEEK 3 vs Atlanta 404 [DV2G3] Tara meets you at the club and gives you a Challenge. You must injury a player in the next game if you want to get with her. Tara will give you half-priced discounts on juicing. It's up to you if you want to be with Tara instead of Kim. --------------- Training I had enough cash to get the Level 3 TKL Upgrade this time. By now, your number one wide receiver should have maxed both his SPD and his HND. Train him next with BTK. A second offensive lineman should have also maxed his BLK. Put that BLK on the 2nd TE. --------------- Division 2, Week 3 This game is against the Atlanta 404. Their captain is Kimo Talofa. He is the 404's defensive end. He's another tough player, like Tyrell Price from last game. The 404's defense is pretty good, so be careful not to get sacked much or throw too many interceptions. Don't forget to get an injury with Franchise if you want to hook up with Tara! --------------- WEEK 4 vs Washington Redhawks [DV2G4] If you have completed the Challenge that Tara gave you, you can now choose her as a girlfriend. You will also be rewarded an extra $5,000 cash. Before you choose Tara, keep in mind that she only gives you half-off on juicing prices while your current girlfriend, Kim, will give you a final gear bonus that will leave your gear at 4-6-6-4 instead of 4-5-5-4. If you do a lot of juicing, you may want to choose Tara over Kim, otherwise you should stay with Kim. --------------- Training I did not have enough money to get the Upgrade that I wanted, so I just trained my players as usual. Since I forgot to mention it before, you should have maxed out the KCK for your kickers by now. You can put whatever you want on them now, not much else matters on them. --------------- Division 2, Week 4 The next team you face is the Washington Redhawks. With their QB Mike Mexico in jail (you faced him in Prison Ball earlier), the Redhawks now have the rookie from the first Blitz game Clayton Wescott as their Team Captain. Wescott is one of the better QBs in the league and he can rip up your defense if you're not careful. The rest of the Redhawks team isn't that bad, but you should be able to win this game by now. --------------- WEEK 5 vs Chicago Marauders [DV2G5] Up next, you have the Marauders. This team is an aerial assault team that could give your secondary headaches all game. --------------- Training The Level 3 STR Upgrade should be affordable this time, so get that. By now, your QB should have maxed out his PAS, so put a SPD on him now. The 2nd SPD should go on your HB, and the final SPD on your SS. BTK on your WRs, BLK on your two TEs, BLK on the offensive lineman that needs it, HND on your two cornerbacks and FS, STR and TKL on your defensive linemen and top three LBs. The rest go wherever you want. --------------- Division 2, Week 5 The Marauders still have the old QB as their ring leader. He's older, but hasn't lost a step since last game. Just like with other team captain QBs, pummel him with Dirty Hits, Late Hits and whatever else you can throw at him, especially during extra point plays! --------------- WEEK 6 vs Miami Hammerheads [DV2G6] The Hammerheads will give you problems during the next game, so you may want to try even harder the next game. Your Agent calls and congratulates you on getting 30 Dirty Hits this season (if you have accomplished this by now). You get the Level 4 Dura Shock gloves which have a boost of +6 to HND. Pretty sweet, huh? Also, you have a new Challenge of holding Hammerheads' QB Julius Williams to under 200 yards. Good luck with that one! --------------- Training The third HND Upgrade was affordable this time, so I bought that. Training regimens were the same for my team as last week, but this time, I trained my second WR with HND, leaving my FS to train whatever I wanted. --------------- Division 2, Week 6 Julius Williams is now on the Hammerheads as their QB. He's still the best QB in the game, and will tear you a new one in a heartbeat. Keeping him under 200 yards will be difficult in the next game! One strategy that works for me here is to allow kick returns to pick up plenty of yards (so Williams can't pick them up), in addition to running out the clock (run and dive when you have a down or two to waste, then chew clock). You may also want to injure Julius ASAP, but that isn't easy since he regenerates Stamina VERY quickly, and that's an understatement! --------------- WEEK 7 vs Las Vegas Aces [DV2G7] Did you manage to stop Julius last game without losing, or at least without having a major injury on your team? It's one of the toughest Challenge in the game, that's for sure! If you completed the Challenge, you receive $10,000 cash, a new Touchdown Celebration, and Kim gives your team new gear! You should now have the Level 3 Shock Guard helmet with +8 INJ, Level 3 Dynamite shoulder pads with +3 TKL and +2 BTK, and Level 3 Magic Rabbit gloves with +5 HND and +2 Accuracy. If Tara is your girlfriend, she will ask if you want the Aces to take a Stamina hit before the game. Accept, and you will have a bit of an easier game against the Aces. --------------- Training Nothing to buy for Upgrades this time (you may catch up or not buy anything either). Franchise may have maxed out his TKL by now, so it's up to you if you train him with anything else for the rest of the game and give someone else something good, or continue to build up Franchise to even better attributes. Everyone else trains as usual. Don't worry about your offensive line not getting the STR they need. That training method will open up fairly soon, and you can train them then, even though it isn't absolutely necessary at this point. --------------- Division 2, Week 7 The Aces top star is Amos Newell, their LB. He's a good player, but by now, you shouldn't have too many problems against him. Just get through this game without a major injury if you've already qualified for the Championship game coming up next. --------------- WEEK 8, Division 2 Championship [DV2CH] Okay, you've made it to the Division 2 Championship, and you can just TASTE Division 1 now! Win this and it's onto the Big Time! Your Agent calls with a Challenge for the Championship game. You need to get more touchdowns than Julius Williams in the game. This time if Franchise is your QB, any passing TDs will count toward your total. Just make sure Franchise ends up with more total TDs (running and passing and receiving) than the Hammerheads main QB. Your Agent calls again to mention something about a supermodel named Grace. She will play a part of the story in Division 1, but you don't have to worry about her for right now. --------------- Training It's time to pick up the final Upgrade that you need. Go buy the Level 3 BTK and all the necessary Upgrades are now purchased. The rest you can pick up if you want, or use the saved money on juicing. Also, if you want to start using STR on your offensive line, then go ahead. Some of your defense should have maxed that out by now, so no worries that someone will miss a vital training regimen. Train the rest as usual. Don't forget this is the Championships, so juice your players as you did in Division 3. And don't forget to score more TDs than Julius Williams with Franchise. --------------- Division 2 Championship If you have all the equipment Upgrades that I mentioned up to this point, then you can bet whatever you want and buy whatever juice you want since money isn't an issue anymore. The Hammerheads are your opponent for the Championship game and are just as tough as the last time you played them! Don't worry about major injuries here since they won't carry over to Division 1. Just get through this with a win and complete the Challenge if you feel like it. --------------- WEEK 1 vs Mexico City Aztecs [DV1G1] If you succeeded completing the last Challenge, you get another Touchdown Celebration Code and an extra $10,000. Time for Division 1 finally! At a press conference, Franchise and Sands talk about Division 1 and are interrupted by the Commissioner. He has some bad news and needs to let the world know that there will be a replacement team in Division 1. Franchise knows exactly which team the Commissioner is going to name as the replacement team, and Franchise storms out of the conference. Draft time again! This time, all you have is just one guy that you can draft, and it's the Prison Ball player Karl Tirpitz. There's no option to NOT draft him so he's now on your team, like it or not. His position of defense depends on what position you have Franchise at and who you drafted at the end of Division 3 and it may or may not be the same position he played during your Prison Ball game. Your Agent calls with a Challenge to gain 200 combined yards in the next game. By now, this is easy (or it really should be)! --------------- Training Buy whatever Upgrade you want or save your money and juice your players. Train them as you did last game, but note that from now on, sometimes players won't get the training they need since some players have maxed out their training in spots while others may need what other players are training with that week. Do your best to train your weak spots and max out whatever you can right away so you don't have to worry about still having to train that player with a particular regimen. (Did I write that clear enough? I hope so.) Also, your HB has a habit of getting a major injury in Division 1, so I usually juice him every game with Droxilyn (the first juice of the banned substances) that reduces the severity of injuries to the juiced player. --------------- Division 1 All-Time Records Before you start Division 1, here are the records for the Division in case you are looking to break them: Passing: 1977 QB Henric Ashley 3,582 yards Receiving: 2002 WR Cookie Wallace 2,215 yards Rushing: 1951 HB Eric Jorgenson 1,763 yards Interceptions: 2005 FS Vonnie Treonday 14 interceptions Sacks: 1962 LB Skullcrusher Koswolski 25 sacks Tackles: 2004 LB Quentin Sands 76 tackles --------------- Division 1, Week 1 The Aztec's captain is TE Felix Fortain. He's a good receiver and should give you a bit of trouble on defense. Two things to remember this game: The first is you are an underdog, so you should be able to cover the point spread. Bet the max here. Secondly, don't forget the Challenge. Gain 200 yards this time around, it shouldn't be too difficult by now. --------------- WEEK 2 vs Denver Grizzlies [DV1G2] By now, you should have added the Level 5 Spider Web gloves which give a +8 HND boost, and the Level 3 Ultra Light shoes which give a +3 SPD and +2 AGL boost. Grace calls you and asks to meet you at the club. She issues a Challenge to injure Grizzlies HB Tyler Neal in the next game. Grace offers training equipment boosts and a Stamina boost in the final game. Decide weather or not you want to stay with your current girlfriend or go with Grace. --------------- Training It's the same as last time, just get whatever Upgrade you want, train your weak spots, and juice if you feel like it (including the juice to your HB mentioned last time around). --------------- Division 1, Week 2 Tyler Neal is the Grizzlies' star halfback. He will run for some good yardage, but you can injure him once you've worn him down. Do so if you want to complete Grace's Challenge. --------------- WEEK 3 vs Arizona Outlaws [DV1G3] If you completed Grace's Challenge, you get the Level 4 Salvation helmet which gives a +12 INJ, and the Level 4 Polyflex Ultra shoulder pads which give a +4 TKL and +4 BTK boosts. --------------- Training Just train as you did last week, nothing new in training from here on out, so this walkthrough won't mention it again until the Championship. Just train your weak spots, juice whomever, and bet whatever you think you can cover from now on. --------------- Division 1, Week 3 Tito Maas is the Outlaws' team captain. His team has arrived in Division 1 since making it from Division 3 last game. Although the video for Maas says the Outlaws can't play defense well, don't be surprised if they actually DO. Other than that, it's business as usual. --------------- WEEK 4 vs replacement team [DV1G4] Sands and Franchise bury their differences next. The end for the Commissioner is near, but what can they do to bring the Commissioner down? A certain LB of your acquaintance calls and issues your next Challenge. You must get more QB sacks than him in the next game. Winning last game's Challenge, you are awarded the Level 5 Devastator shoulder pads which give you a +6 TKL and +6 BTK boost for your team. --------------- Division 1, Week 4 You already know who the captain is on the next opponent's team. He will hound your QB as he tries to win the Challenge he issued to Franchise. Just keep an eye on him when you pass and stay out of his reach. --------------- WEEK 5 vs New York Nightmare [DV1G5] Winning the Challenge nets you $25,000 cash. Not bad for a day's work, but by now, pretty irrelevant. Another Touchdown Celebration code is unlocked, too. Speaking of Challenges, Quentin Sands issues his own Challenge to Franchise. Don't let Nightmare LB Max Carson get any sacks in the next game, or injure Carson with an Unleashed move. --------------- Division 1, Week 5 The Sandman wants revenge on his old team! There's nothing sweeter in football than revenge! So, complete the Challenge that Sands issued. Max Carson is the Nightmare's LB, and he's just as tough as some of the other team captains. Keep a close eye on him when you pass, and you will be able to avoid him the next game. --------------- WEEK 6 vs New England Regulars [DV1G6] Once you've completed Sands' Challenge, you receive another Touchdown Celebration code and $25,000 cash. If Kim is your girlfriend, she also awards you the Level 6 Fly Trap gloves as team gear, with a +10 HND boost. If Tara is your girlfriend, she will give you an option to reduce the Regulars' Stamina. A free Stamina hit to your opponent? Heck, yeah! --------------- Division 1, Week 6 Packrat James is the Regulars' team captain. He is a shutdown corner that isn't easy to throw against. You may have trouble with the passing game this time. By now if you are undefeated, you may want to just survive the this game and the next with no major injuries if you aren't going for an undefeated season. --------------- WEEK 7 vs Vancouver Beavers [DV1G7] This is the last regular season game in Division 1. Remember to train and juice your players as best you can here. --------------- Division 1, Week 7 Carlos Coto is the Beavers' team captain. He plays TE for their team. What can be said about Coto that hasn't been said about the other team captains? Not much. Just go out there and try not to get severely injured, and you will be on your way to the Championships! --------------- WEEK 8, League Championship [DV1CH] If you still have Kim as your girlfriend, your gear should now include the Level 6 Enforcer shoulder pads which give a +8 TKL and +8 BTK, and the Level 6 Fly Trap gloves which give a +10 HND. Quentin Sands puts his plan to take down the Commissioner into action. Enjoy watching him taunt the Commish with money. It'll be a joy to see this plan's outcome. Your Agent calls and issues you a final Challenge. Don't let the opponent's team captain execute a Dirty Hit on Franchise in the Championship. --------------- Training Train your players for the final time. Juice them as you think best. --------------- Division 1 Championships FINALLY... Everything you've done so far has led up to this game! Do you have what it takes to win the League Championship? Of course you do, you're the Franchise! Give it your all, don't worry about getting injured, and show the Commissioner who the best team in the league is! Remember to complete the Challenge of not getting Dirty Hit by the opponent's team captain, and you can then enjoy winning the biggest game of your career! You should get a new Touchdown Celebration Code for winning the Championship. And if you completed the Challenge, you get an additional $50,000. And when it's finally over, enjoy the final story cutscene... By now, you should have amassed 2,000 yards offense with Franchise. If so, you are awarded the Magic Rabbit shoes with give a +4 SPD and +4 AGL. Sands calls and states he will always have Franchise's back, then your Agent wants you to take your team online. He's such a nice guy, huh? Well, that's it! You've finally beaten the Blitz the League II campaign! Congratulations! I hope you had fun, now you can start a new Campaign with Franchise at a different position and see how well you can do. Have fun renaming your new team, its players, and creating new uniforms! ============================ TEAMS OF THE LEAGUE ============================ [BTL2T] Here are all the teams in the game, in alphabetical order! ARIZONA OUTLAWS Captain: T. Maas WR Division 1 Team PRO Passing Juggernaut CON Running Game Offense ****** Defense ***** Overall ***** In the past three years, the Outlaws have developed one of the most explosive offenses in the League. Nicknamed Fun in the Sun by the media, their aerial attack is designed to get the ball down the field in a hurry. However, as the offense has become stocked with weapons, their defense has become a liability. ATLANTA 404 Captain: K. Talofa DE Division 2 Team PRO Lockdown Defense CON Offensive Weapons Offense *** Defense ***** Overall **** The 404 have only been in the League two years, but they've already played their way into Division 2. They are one of those teams that has a dominating defense but a weak, sometimes inept offense. Their running back is pretty good, but their quarterback is a rookie who is starting to look like a total bust. BALTIMORE BEARCATS Captain: K. Mbutabe HB Division 3 Team PRO Power Running CON Passing Game Offense ** Defense ** Overall ** A perennial cellar dweller, the Bearcats offense is led by a has-been running back, former Cincinnati Crusaders star Kwazi Mbutabe. Bad news is without the threat of a passing game, Mbutabe is the Bearcats' only way to move the ball. And defenses are keying on him every play which results in even more pounding. CAROLINA COPPERHEADS Captain: Grant Tanner QB Division 3 Team PRO Air Assault CON Poor CB Play Offense **** Defense *** Overall *** Three years ago, pundits predicted that Carolina was destined to advance to Division 1. Now they are barely clinging to their position in Division 2. Their captain, Grant Tanner, throws one of the best deep balls in the league, but their defense is suspect. With some of the poorest cornerbacks in football, Carolina games are always shootouts. CHICAGO MARAUDERS Captain: S. Spain QB Division 2 Team PRO Fierce Linebackers CON Ground Game Offense *** Defense **** Overall *** The Marauders are a team that's been mired in Division 2, and management refuses to spend money developing a running game with Shane Spain still running the helm. Chicago has an excellent pass defense, but week in and week out, the defense spends too much time on the field and gets tired in the final quarter of the game. CINCINNATI CRUSADERS Captain: Z. Freeman S Division 3 Team PRO Special Teams CON Turnovers Offense * Defense ** Overall * Cincinnati has been stuck in the depths of Division 3 for years and it doesn't seem like the end is in sight. The addition of Ezekial Freeman from San Diego has helped the defense, but the offense abysmal. With Kwazi Mbutabe shipped off to Baltimore, the Crusaders have tried to open up the passing game and defenses everywhere are salivating. CLEVELAND STEAMERS Captain: H. Cho WR Division 3 Team PRO Big Play Secondary CON Pass Consistency Offense *** Defense ** Overall *** Cleveland had been without a franchise since the 1940's and fought for decades to bring football back to their city. They finally succeeded, moving and re-branding the bankrupt San Diego Cyclones as the Cleveland Steamers, the name of the original team. With a good secondary and some great receivers, the Steamers could mold into a contender. DENVER GRIZZLIES Captain: T. Neal HB Division 1 Team PRO Quick Running Backs CON Lack of Depth Offense ***** Defense ****** Overall ***** The Grizzlies are a team on the rise, a Division 1 contender knocking on the door of the League Championship. Led on offense by Tyler Neal, this is a team that plays well on both sides of the ball. Management used up all their money on the starters so depth is an issue, but when this team is healthy, they are possibly the best in the League. DETROIT DEVILS Captain: C. Wallace WR Division 3 Team PRO Quick Strike Offense CON Pass Defense Offense ** Defense * Overall ** Over the past three seasons, the Devils have slipped further down in the league standings. Detroit has some incredible playmakers on offense, and if their offensive line had any talent then their passing game would be unstoppable. As for their defense, they couldn't stop anyone if there was a 20 foot wall built on the line of scrimmage. HOUSTON RIDERS Captain: D. Sullivan HB Division 3 Team PRO Strong Run Game CON Speed Offense ** Defense * Overall * The Riders have been near the bottom of Division 3 in their two seasons in the League. This year is different however; they've drafted a solid rookie class and Daunell Sullivan appears to be the perfect asset to solidity a powerful running game. These perennial underachievers have a chance to make some noise this year. KANSAS CITY CROSSFIRE Captain: T. Price DE Division 2 Team PRO Team Speed CON Tackling Offense *** Defense **** Overall **** Kansas City has been trying to reshape its image on and off the field. Once known primarily as a felonious bunch of cheap shot artists, they now are one of the cleaner teams. With one of the fastest teams in the League, the Crossfire blitz the quarterback like it's going out of style and the offense isn't half-bad either. LAS VEGAS ACES Captain: A. Newell LB Division 2 Team PRO QB Pressure CON Pass Coverage Offense **** Defense *** Overall **** Sin City finally has a team it can cheer for, as the Aces shipped out Kelvin Diggs and brought in linebacker Amos Newell to anchor their once-shakey defense. The Aces play a high risk and high reward style of play on both sides of the ball and it's effective, not just on the football field, but in putting people in the stands as well. LOS ANGELES RIOT Captain: B. Battaglia LB Division 2 Team PRO Physical Linebackers CON Inconsistent QB Play Offense **** Defense **** Overall ***** Built from the very start to be a championship caliber team, the Riot are stacked with talent, but there's little team spirit in this collection of selfish ball hogs. Each new ringer makes the team stronger on paper, but it doesn't always translate to the playing field. Nonetheless, most expect the Riot to quickly ascend to the ranks of Division 1. MEXICO CITY AZTECS Captain: F. Fortain TE Division 1 Team PRO Gun Happy Offense CON Kicking Game Offense ****** Defense ****** Overall ****** The past three years have been tumultuous for this franchise. First came the free agent defection of Julius Williams, then came a clandestine off-season move from Dallas to Mexico City that threw the entire organization into chaos. However, the Aztecs have managed to stay in Division 1 thanks to the devastating running game. MIAMI HAMMERHEADS Captain: J. Williams QB Division 2 Team PRO Spread Offense CON Bad in the Trenches Offense ***** Defense *** Overall **** Miami is a franchise that suffered upheaval, moving from their aging Orlando stadium to a new modern venue in Miami, only to see it recently ravaged by a string of hurricanes. In spite of this, the team has persevered, with an exciting spread offense that has no trouble moving the ball and putting points on the scoreboard. MILWAUKEE HOUNDS Captain: Conrad Damon QB Division 3 Team PRO Run Stopping CON Sub-par Secondary Offense ** Defense * Overall ** Once a league joke, the Hounds are now a force to be reckoned with. They started as a semi-pro team from the now-defunct Lake Michigan League, and gained entrance to the League during the short-lived Division 3 strike of 2007. The entire team was hired as scabs, and they ended up playing well enough to earn a franchise bid. MINNESOTA REAPERS Captain: T. Forbes HB Division 2 Team PRO Gritty Ground Game CON QB Pressure Offense **** Defense *** Overall *** From the Land of 1,000 Lakes, the Reapers are a team that is about as conservative as they come. They have a bland pound it out running game, and a defense that is about as aggressive as the French Army. However, when the pressure is on and Tony Forbes is at his best, Minnesota is always a contender. NEW ENGLAND REGULARS Captain: P. James S Division 1 Team PRO Offensive Balance CON Special Teams Offense ***** Defense ****** Overall ****** The Regulars shrugged off allegations of cheating during their 2007 League Championship victory and look ready to defend their title. Cornerback Packrat James took over the defense from retired captain Vonnie Treonday and kept the level of excellence on the filed. Though the defense is revered, the offense is as solid and balanced as any team in the League. NEW YORK NIGHTMARE Captain: M. Carson LB Division 1 Team PRO Team Athleticism CON Team Focus Offense ****** Defense ****** Overall ****** The Nightmare didn't lose a beat after the loss of Quentin Sands. The are once again considered the team to beat in Division 1 and that makes the faithful in the Big Apple very happy. New York athletically dominating on both sides of the ball, but key mental mistakes on defense seems to always get the best of them. PHILADELPHIA BRAWLERS Captain: H.J. Latshaw DT Division 3 Team PRO Dirty Defense CON Poor Offense Offense * Defense **** Overall ** The Brawlers live up to their names with their style of play. They play as dirty as they can, and get away with far more than they should. However, cheap shots can only get you so far. The Brawlers are held back by an abysmal offense even for Division 3 standards, but this defense can play with the best of them. SEATTLE REIGN Captain: C. Longstreet DE Division 1 Team PRO Pass Rush CON Pass Defense Offense ***** Defense ***** Overall ***** (Seattle does not play Franchise's team during the game so their team summary in-game might not exist.) VANCOUVER BEAVERS Captain: C. Coto TE Division 1 Team PRO Physical Run Game CON Defense Offense ****** Defense ***** Overall ****** Vancouver came into the League two years ago and they've been on fire ever since, battling their way into Division 1 last year. They did that by making the most of their expansion drafts, which they used to stockpile young, underrated talent. They've got a few holes on their defense, but their offense is arguably the best in the League. WASHINGTON REDHAWKS Captain: C. Wescott QB Division 2 Team PRO QB Mobility CON WR Consistency Offense **** Defense **** Overall **** In the past few seasons, the Redhawks have evolved from a defensive team to one that is balanced on both sides of the ball. Washington still can't seem to play its way into Division 1 and most pin the blame on the team's disastrous leadership, which has seen the last two team captains, Jacob Williams and Mike Mexico, end up in federal prison. ============================ TEAM CAPTAINS ============================ [TEAMC] Here are all the Team Captains in the game, in order as they appear in Campaign Mode: Kwazi Mbutabe, Baltimore Bearcats halfback Kwazi still wears the war paint and screams across the line of scrimmage at the opposing defense, but he's taken so much of a beating over the years that he's lost all of his juking ability. Now he's a relentless pounder. The former Cincinnati Crusaders star has created a spark to the offense, but there is no doubt that he is a one-man show. Daunell Sullivan, Houston Riders halfback Sullivan, who is a heralded rookie, is a slashing and shifty running back who can also catch passes out of the backfield. Daunell may not be a bruising runner, but he has one of the best stiffarms in the league. Off the field, Daunell is a mama's boy. He bought her the palatial house they live in together, and she cooks for him and does his laundry. Grant Tanner, Carolina Copperheads quarterback Tanner is an aging quarterback who is still regarded as having the best arm in the league. In fact, he throws the ball so hard that two of his top receivers fractured their fingers trying to catch his passes. With his gunslinger mentality, Tanner can zip the ball into tight spaces, but he is also very prone to throwing costly interceptions. H.J. Latshaw, Philadelphia Brawlers defensive tackle Latshaw was the feel good story of the League two years ago. He was just another unruly Philly fan, dumping beer and hocking loogies on opponents until one game when a fight broke out in the stands and spilled onto the field. H.J. was in the thick of it, and showed that he was such an exceptional hooligan that he merited a tryout with the team. Cookie Wallace, Detroit Devils wide receiver Selfish and undisciplined, Wallace has become a malignant locker room cancer. He constantly demands the ball, and blames others for his own poor play. Still, opposing defenses have to scheme around the talented receiver. When he scores a touchdown on you, and he will, then there will be a nice elaborate dance that will follow. Conrad Damon, Milwaukee Hounds quarterback Damon, the hard-nosed former beer truck driver, is a gunslinger who throws the ball all over the yard. He's also known for yelling at his receivers if they drop a ball, or at his running back if he fails to pick up a blitz, etc. Off the field, he's a beer-guzzling monomanic who left his wife and kids the minute he got famous. Zek Freeman, Cincinnati Crusaders safety Freeman left a great situation in San Diego because 'God told him to be a Crusader.' Freeman is convinced that he is in Cincinnati doing God's work, and he recently started a church in the inner city. Every Sunday, Freeman delivers a rousing sermon from the pulpit, then goes out an delivers crushing hits on the playing field. Henry Cho, Cleveland Steamers wide receiver A former member of the feared Flying Dragons triad in New York's violent Chinatown, Cho, is not afraid of anything on the field. Football gave Henry the break he needed to escape the streets, but it's hard to go unnoticed when your posse looks like the bad guys from Hong Kong action movie, and all the women you date are Asian supermodels. Bruno Battaglia, Los Angeles Riot linebacker Battaglia is still the same dirty player we love to hate, but now he's three years older and he's become even dirtier. Two years ago, he blew out his elbow joint and had to have a titanium joint inserted in its stead. Now he throws that elbow around with reckless abandon and that titanium has cold-cocked many a tight end coming across the middle. Tyrell Price, Kansas City Crossfire defensive end Though the team has cleaned up their act, Price is still a dirty bastard. The difference is that now he tries to be slyer about it. He gets his licks in at the bottom of the pile, or when nobody's looking between plays. And he still has his anger problem. Last year, he went on trial for assault after pummeling a counselor at the boy's club. Kimo Talofa, Atlanta 404 defensive end Born in Samoa, Kimo graduated from the New Zealand Institute for Sport, and then won Rugby's World Cup. Now he's the fiercest pass rusher in the League. His head is so large and hard, eh could play without a helmet and it wouldn't matter. Off the field, he's a train wreck. He has a bad habit of getting blind drunk and picking fights with rich guys. Clayton Wescott, Washington Redhawks quarterback Wescott was supposed to be the answer to the Redhawk's ills, and though the one time League MVP has allowed fame to go to his head, he can still get it done on the field. In the three years since his record breaking rookie season, Clayton has gone from a role model to a walking tabloid headline, but with his talent, no one seems to care. Shane Spain, Chicago Marauders quarterback In spite of his advanced age and declining skills, Spain is still at the helm of the Marauders. He's an icon in Chicago, and icons sell out stadiums, even if they throw too many interceptions. There's also a rumor that Spain has become addicted to pain killers. After all the sacks and late hits, he needs them just to climb out of bed. Julius Williams, Miami Hammerheads quarterback Williams, a free agent pickup, still has the flashy moves and cannon arm that gave him two championships with Dallas. However, Williams is all about getting paid and preparing for his life as an actor/celebrity once he retires from the game. As a result, he's more about highlight-reel plays and acting gigs in his offseason than he is about winning. Amos Newell, Las Vegas Aces linebacker Newell, an under-rated linebacker, is an expert ball hawk who was a journeyman for several years, having been cut by New York, Arizona, and Carolina before finding a home in Vegas. Off the field, Newell is a well-respected family man. But there's a growing cloud of suspicion that his improved play is the result of designer steroids. Felix Fortain, Mexico City Aztecs tight end Fortain is an electrifying tight end who dominates in the run and passing games. Off the field, Felix has a weakness for licking flaming tequila off stomachs of Mexican [call girls], and he is currently under suspicion from the DEA for smuggling steroids into the US on the Aztecs team plane when they enter the country for their away games. Tyler Neal, Denver Grizzlies halfback Undrafted as a rookie, Neal played his way into the starting lineup by becoming the type of third down back who catches a swing pass out of the backfield and turns it into a 30 yard gain. Now he's an every-down back who can burst through the hole like lightning. Off the field, Tyler is now enjoying
the money, the fame, and the women. Tito Maas, Arizona Outlaws wide receiver A few things have changed in Arizona over the years, but one constant has been the play of their captain. Maas can still run like a gazelle and he is the best route runner in the entire league. He is still cocky, he still plays dirty and he still bitches at the defense, but there is no way Arizona would be playing in Division 1 without him. Max Carson, New York Nightmare linebacker Carson is a sideline-to-sideline speed guy nicknamed Supermax (after the prison, because there's no hope of escape). Carson can cover the opposing team's best receiver one on one, and he can run stuff as well as any linebacker in the League. Off the field, he avoids the League lifestyle, swearing off wild parties, fast cars and even faster women. Packrat James, New England Regulars safety James took over the defense from retired captain Vonnie Treonday and kept up the level of excellence on the field. Off the field, he's been arrested 12 times. Between multiple breaking and entering charges, his addictions to strip clubs, and his off season antics as a professional wrestler, Packrat is as much the team cancer as he is savior. Carlos Coto, Vancouver Beavers tight end Second year tight end, Carlos Coto, can drive block like a tackle and catch passes like a wide receiver. It's hard for linebackers to match up with him because of his speed and he can just power weaker safeties with his strength off the ball. His friendly and care free attitude makes him one of the more well-liked players in the League. Chad Longstreet, Seattle Reign defensive end Longstreet is a guy who has been resting on his laurels, but now that his career is nearing its end, he has re-dedicated himself to football in the quest for one more ring. Chad uses a nice blend of power and speed to get into the backfield and whether it is a quarterback, running back, or freight train they aren't getting away from Longstreet. (Seattle does not play Franchise's team during the game.) Tony Forbes, Minnesota Reapers halfback Forbes had both his knees torn up while [rushing] for a first down in the championship two years ago. Since then, he's seen limited duty. He has re-injured each of his knees, and he can't get quite the kick off the line that he used to in his younger days. But he's still a fierce and gutsy competitor, and opponents have learned not to underestimate him. (Minnesota does not play Franchise's team during the game.) ============================ LEAGUE HISTORY ============================ [LEAGH] Here is all that I could get from the loading screens for the League's history when I was playing! There might be more, but I haven't found anymore yet: 1890, August 30 -- EARLY DAYS OF FOOTBALL: Some universities, prompted by generous and influential alumni, begin staging football matches again. Rules of conduct are worked out between team captains before games because attempts to have referees do more than tally the final score are vehemently resisted. 1902, June 12 -- EARLY COLLEGE BALL: The first collegiate tournament is played in Chicago. The rules are worked the day before with all eight teams agreeing to keep the uglier boorish behavior off the field. In reality, the tournament turns out to be a bloody affair, with the winning team from Burroughs University in Wisconsin finishing with less than half their starters still on the field. 1916, February 27 -- WALKER FORMS LEAGUE: Tobias Wolf Walker forms the first professional football league with four teams: The Boston Spirit, New York Shamrocks, Chicago Scouts, and Hartford Cougars. The League plays exactly one season, with the New York Shamrocks emerging as League champions, before America enters World War I and siphons off most of the young men playing the game. 1923, April 22 -- THE LEAGUE IS BACK: Tobias Walker and Marshall Cooper reconstitute The League, ushering in what many consider as The Golden Age of Football. Initial teams include the re-formed New York Shamrocks, Chicago Scouts and Boston Spirit. Newcomers the Milwaukee Bottlers and Atlanta Golden Knights also join the fray. The first League game also ushers in a new era when it is broadcast over the radio. 1929, December 29 -- HUGH WALKER TAKES OVER: Hugh Walker takes co-ownership of the League after the death of his brother Tobias from a stroke. A judge by profession, Hugh Walker immediately tries to force regulations upon the League. The fans, players, and co-owner Marshall Cooper reject the idea as unnecessary. Walker uses his weight with local officials to force his changes through, leading to Marshall's resignation. 1930, September 2 -- THE GAME IS LAME: The newly regulated League opens to low gate earnings and uninspired games played by unmotivated players. Fans and owners are not happy with the subdued direction of the League. Radio sportscasters and newspaper columnists all over the country begin calling for Hugh Walker's ouster and the return of Marshall Cooper to head the League. 1935, October 17 -- BIG APPLE BRAWLS: The infamous Highland Boulevard Donnybrook erupts between New York's two football franchises. The Shamrocks in Hugh Walker's league trade punches and kicks with The Dutchmen in Marshall Cooper's league. Arrests follow and ultimately the decision is made to settle the dispute on the Gridiron. 1936, January 1 -- NEW YEAR'S BATTLE: The historical New Year's Day game is played between the Shamrocks and Dutchmen, both of New York. The first half is played by the structured rules of Hugh Walker's league while the second half is played with the old rules of Marshall Cooper's league. The Dutchmen went into halftime down 18-6, but freed of penalty restrictions in the second half, go on to win 42-21. 1940, December 27 -- THE SCOUTS ARE A DYNASTY: The Chicago Scouts make League history by winning the Tier II championship all in the same year. In the following year, they repeat as League champions and have the makings of a dynasty before World War II disrupts the League. 1947, April 24 -- MARSHALL COOPER PASSES: Marshall Cooper dies peacefully in his sleep 24 years and 2 days after he helped launch the original league. His son, Guy Cooper, is named the new Commissioner of the League. Historians still claim Marshall Cooper to be one of the most influential men in the history of football. 1948, December 14 -- VOLUNTARY HELMETS: Commissioner Guy Cooper institutes the first helmet policy in the League. The decision is not met well by the players or fans so a compromise is reached. The wearing of helmets is voluntary and recommended, but not required. Most players chose to ignore the recommendation. 1950, August 20 -- DEVILS FROM DETROIT: The Detroit Mechanics, a heavy, hard-hitting team, seriously injures an average of three opponents every game. Detroit easily wins the League Championship game 47 - 0 over the Minnesota Bottlers, and in the wake of the season, the Mechanics change the name of their team to the Devils. 1953, May 18 -- COLEMAN EYES EXPANSION: Stan Tex Coleman, retired senator from Texas and football fanatic, raises the capital to form a football team. Dubbed the Dallas Aztecs, the state of Texas eagerly awaits entry into the League. But Commissioner Guy Cooper is not interested in expansion. Determined to open the West to football, Coleman lays the groundwork for a west coast league. 1955, December 13 -- A VIKING FUNERAL: Chicago Marauder's legendary halfback Eric Jorgenson collapses during a game against the Baltimore Bearcats. Jorgenson is diagnosed with a rare heart disorder and he dies six days later. A ceremony is held at Marauder Stadium and 110,000 watch as he is given a symbolic Viking funeral. The funeral is broadcast nationally, sparking further interest in football across America. 1957, December 21 -- AZTECS AERIAL ATTACK: Wes Coates of the Dallas Aztecs passes for over 3,000 in a single season, shattering the previous passing record. Other teams in both leagues begin to explore the pass-oriented style employed by the Aztecs, now commonly known as the Wes Coates offense. 1959, September 29 -- A BETTING SCANDAL: A betting scandal rocks the Eastern League when a convicted organized crime boss boasts of his ties to football. An investigation leads to an indictment of League Commissioner Guy Cooper, who resigns and flees the country. David Kent, a former quarterback for the now-defunct Boston Spirit is named the new Commissioner. 1962, January 24 -- A DAMAGING DOME: Chuck Skullcrusher Koswalski of the New York Shamrocks racks up five skull fractures and seven concussions on opposing players in a single season by spearing them with his helmeted head. More than 70 percent of the players in both leagues begin wearing helmets by the start of their next seasons. 1965, August 9 -- THE WEST TOPS THE EAST: In what is dubbed an exhibition game the Eastern and Western Leagues play one another for the first time. The visiting Los Angeles Lightning lose to the New York Shamrocks in Brooklyn, New York. The televised game receives the highest ratings ever for a football game. Commissioners David Kent and Tex Coleman quietly begin talking about future collaborations. 1966, July 14 -- LEAGUE RIVALRY BUILDS: The Kansas City Crossfire beat the Minnesota Reapers 23 - 10 in the second cross-league exhibition game. Television ratings for the game surpass the ratings for exhibition game in the previous year, and the commissioners agree that the next year's exhibition game will be between the two league championship teams. 1967, June 25 -- CRASH DEVASTATES NEW YORK: Tragedy strikes as all but three members of the New York Shamrocks are killed in a plane crash. The event is burned into the memories of every football fan in the country when the NY Herald runs a front page photo of the burning wreckage with the headline NY NIGHTMARE!!! The caption would become associated with one of the most storied franchises in the League. 1972, October 25 -- SAUNDERS SPARKS PROTESTS: Baltimore receiver Lawrence Saunders burns his draft card during a nationally televised interview. The next day, Saunders is arrested on the field at a Bearcats home game vs. the Redhawks. Six months later, Saunders is killed in action in Vietnam, and it sparks a wave of anti-war protests that leads the government to secretly mark active players as exempt from the draft. 1974, July 18 -- STARS PLAY THE SOVIETS: The USSR sends a team of football players to compete in an exhibition game against an All-Star squad of Eastern and Western League players. The Soviets, wearing few pads, prove they know little about playing football but a lot about dealing out pain. The US wins 21-6 but suffers career-ending injuries to three of its top stars. The experiment is never repeated. 1976, June 1 -- TWO TIER LEAGUE: The Eastern and Western Leagues merge and become known as The League again. Tier I features the Washington Redhawks, Dallas Aztecs, Chicago Marauders, Kansas City Crossfire and Detroit Devils. Tier II features the Las Vegas Aces, Baltimore Bearcats, Arizona Outlaws, Minnesota Reapers and Sacramento Cyclones. The Washington Redhawks win the first combined League championship. 1977, January 29 -- FOOTBALL BACK IN NEW YORK: The Kansas City Crossfire wins the Tier I championship in an upset victory over the previous year's champion Washington Redhawks. After the game, the League announces plans to add two additional teams to the League, including a new team for New York, who has been without their beloved sport of football since the tragedy a decade earlier. 1977, July 22 -- CRENSHAW DENIES RUBBERS: Judd The Stud Crenshaw of the Carolina Copperheads is hit with a class action paternity suit after genetic testing positively identifies him as the father of children by two Copperhead cheerleaders and an additional three cheerleaders on opposing teams. Crenshaw t-shirts and jerseys become top sellers. Late night talk show hosts have a field day. 1978, June 3 -- A NAMING NIGHTMARE: The League proposes the name Crusaders for the New York team, but the city rejects it. Drawing on the famous headline from the tragedy, they declare the new franchise to be the New York Nightmare. The name Crusaders instead goes to the expansion team in Cincinnati. A coin toss places New York in Tier I and Cincinnati in Tier II for the start of the next season. 1979, September 1 -- THE NIGHTMARE ARE BORN: The New York Nightmare open their first season playing in the old Shamrock Stadium while cutting edge architect Dieter Haas begins work on the controversial masterpiece that will be the team's new home. The Nightmare finish in a surprising second place, losing the Tier I championship game to Chicago. 1980, February 2 -- RAND LOOKS TO ACQUIRE: The Chicago Marauders, once again, repeat as League champions. Meanwhile, the charismatic mayor of San Diego, Arthur Rand, announces his intention his intention to buy a professional football franchise. Financial backers line up behind him while the football world nervously wonders who the target of the acquisition will be. 1982, March 26 -- STADIUM REVEALED: The New York Nightmare's stadium is revealed to America and the world. The towering neo-gothic structure is seems half-stadium and half cathedral. Ashes from the downed NY Shamrock crash site are said to have been literally sprinkled under the foundation, and the cornerstone is rumored to have come from the same quarry mined to carve the former player's gravestones. 1983, December 19 -- WINDY CITY MURDER: Marauder Coach Larry Sims is gunned down in the Windy City one day after his team finishes at the bottom of Tier II for the second year in a row. No suspect is ever caught, and it takes months to find a replacement candidate wiling to even interview with the team. They finally find a replacement a tough as nails defensive-minded coach: Chuck Skullcrusher Koswolski. 1984, September 11 -- CHARGES AGAINST DEANGELO: Detroit Devils linebacker Chris DeAngelo breaks the neck of Dallas Aztec running back Pete Washington and he dies on the way to the hospital. Five weeks later, DeAngelo literally knocks Las Vegas quarterback Kyle Foster dead with a crushing helmet-to-helmet hit. Manslaughter charges are filed against DeAngelo and news editorials begin to wonder if football is too violent. 1985, March 17 -- VERDICT OVERTURNED: The guilty verdict for Chris DeAngelo on two counts of manslaughter is overturned by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and later bumped up to the Supreme Court. The League starts making contingency plans to overhaul their game should DeAngelo ultimately be found guilty. Amidst all of the controversy, the Baltimore Bearcats defeat the Kansas City Crossfire to win the League championship. 1986, May 3 -- COURTS BACK THE LEAGUE: The Supreme Court declares the deaths of Pete Washington and Kyle Foste tragic accidents brought on by realities of professional sports rather than the actions of any single player. Sports Related Manslaughter is declared a misdemeanor rather than a felony, except in cases where intent to commit homicide can be proven. The League breathes a giant sigh of relief. 1992, May 19 -- THE STRIKE CONTINUES: As the football strike drags on into its 3rd year, venture capitalist and entrepreneur Clive Hanson seizes the opportunity to start up his own professional football league. The five team league includes franchises in Seattle, Carolina, New England, Orlando and Denver. Hanson scores a hit by placing his teams only in cities without striking League franchises. 1993, October 12 -- THE STRIKE ENDS: With the bank accounts of both owners and players bottoming out and increased negative feedback from former fans, the League finally settles its disputes and implements a new drug policy that fines teams for infractions but does not suspend players. Testing goes from mandatory and weekly to a rotating system of allegedly random tests and the League begins operations again. 1993, November 1 -- THE LEAGUE RESUMES: Scrub League president Clive Hanson publicly welcomes the return of the original League and begins back room wheeling and dealing with commissioner Percival Truman. The New England Regulars repeat as Scrub League champions, beating the Orlando Hammerheads in a shootout, 47-35. 1994, August 23 -- THIRD TIER IMPLEMENTED: Clive Hanson sells his controlling interest in the Scrub League and makes a mint and the new three tier system sparks interest in fans that had become angry or apathetic about football during its absence. The New York Nightmare wins the League Championship. Surviving family members from the perished NY squad present the Championship rings to the players in a moving ceremony. 1994, December 29 -- NEW ENGLAND PROMOTED: New England becomes the first Scrub team to move up to the Pros, as Tier II is now unofficially called. Perennial whipping boy, the Chicago Marauders, has the dubious distinction of being the first team bumped down to the Scrubs and promptly fires its coach yet again. 1998, January 31 -- DALLAS WINS CHAMPIONSHIP: The Dallas Aztecs capture their first League championship since the 1950's with a passing offense backed by the Texas Bulls, the largest offensive line in League history. The New York Nightmare continues their downward spiral, getting bumped down to Tier II for the first time in their history. 2000, April 13 -- BRUNO BATTAGLIA DRAFTED: Bruno Battaglia is drafted by the Arizona Outlaws as the Number 2 pick overall, but fails to show up at the podium to greet his team on the nationally televised draft when his name is called because he passed out at the pre-party the night before. Incensed, the Outlaws rescind the pick but Baltimore Bearcats take a chance on the unstable but uniquely talented player. 2000, October 7 -- GAME GOES SIX OVERTIMES: The longest game in League history is played between the Chicago Marauders and the Arizona Outlaws. With the score tied at 14-all at the end of regulation, the two teams batter each other through six overtimes. By the time the game mercifully ends with a Chicago field goal, neither team is able to field eight men on offense or defense. 2001, October 1 -- CHARGES AGAINST MARCIONI: Charges are levied against Las Vegas Aces owner Mike Marcioni that he pays his players a bounty for each serious injury they cause on the field with season ending injuries worth even more. The charges are never proven and the League commissioner issues a statement both denying and condemning the practice but rumors persist that bounties are common throughout the League. 2004, February 1 -- AZTECS TRIUMPHANT: The Dallas Aztecs, under the guidance of quarterback Julius Williams, defeat the NY Nightmare for the League Championship. Between his salary and endorsement deals, Williams is the highest paid athlete in professional sports. 2005, January 2 -- NORTH AMERICA EXPANSION: New League Commissioner Hanson begins his tenure with one of the biggest announcements in League history, the expansion of the League outside of the United States. Bolstered by high attendance at annual exhibition games played in Canada and Mexico, the League announces new teams for the cities of Vancouver and Mexico City for the start of the 2006 season. 2005, February 6 -- THE DREAM TEAM: Lyman Strang's Dream Team completes the first ever worst to first ascension, moving from the bottom of Division 3 to the Division 1 Championship in one year. Team Captain Ted Lawless is named League MVP and new rookie Clayton Wescott is named Rookie of the Year. 2005, February 6 -- SANDMAN DOWN: Former defensive MVP Quentin Sands tears his right ACL and MCL during the League Championship. Rehabilitation keeps him out of the game of football for the entire 2006 season. 2005, March 17 -- INVESTIGATIONS BEGIN: Federal officials begin an investigation into the finances of Lyman Strang's new stadium and his ties to Mayor Andrea Thomas. 2005, May 1 -- TEXAS SHOWDOWN: Shock and anger ripple through the state of Texas with the announcement that the Dallas Aztecs are being relocated to Mexico City. The city of Dallas sues the League in federal court, but the lawsuit is dropped after Commissioner Hanson promises to return League football to the state of Texas within one year. 2006, January 3 -- LOS ANGELES TAKES SHAPE: Work begins in Los Angeles on the most expensive stadium project in League history. The ultra modern stadium will house the new Los Angeles franchise when completed. Word that the franchise will be publicly traded attracts major investment, making the LA franchise the richest in the League a full year before they take their first snap. 2006, April 11 -- THE LEAGUE RESTRUCTURES: Commissioner Hanson announces a major restructuring. All three divisions have their season synchronized. Making it from Division 3 to the League Championship is now a three year process. Division 3 teams threaten to strike to fight the re-organization. Hanson calls their bluff and hires semi-pro scab teams to replace them. 2006, April 16 -- THE BRAWLERS ARE BORN: Seeing an opportunity to put a scandal behind them, the League moves the 2005 championship team to Philadelphia, giving them a new name and uniform in the process. Fans in Philly are thrilled, but quickly find that their new team, battered by the scandals and relocation, has a sub-par season that ends with them back in Division 2. 2006, November 5 -- INSULT TO INJURY: Insult is added to injury in Dallas as League Commissioner Hanson follows through on his promise to return League football to Texas in one year but opts to place the new franchise in Houston rather than Dallas. 2006, December 28 -- CYCLONES RUN OUT OF TOWN: The San Diego Cyclones literally find themselves run out of town by their angry fans after it is discovered that the owner is investing much of his fortune in a chain of strip clubs rather than free agents. The organization lands in Cleveland, which is thrilled to have a League franchise for the first time since the 1940's. 2007, December 19 -- THE HOUNDS MAKE THEIR MARK: The Milwaukee Hounds, a semi-pro team from the Lake Michigan League, makes it to the Division 3 championship. The former scabs are offered a franchise deal from the League. Team Captain Conrad Damon goes from driving a beer truck to being a millionaire. The Hounds' rags to riches story brings added attention and revenue to lowly Division 3. 2008, August 14 -- THE ATLANTA 404 enter the League and establish themselves as [a] force to be reckoned with. Their team captain is Kimo Talofa, a Samoan-born former rugby player, quickly gains a reputation as one of the most punishing defensive ends in the game. 2008, April 26 -- DRAFT DAY SHOCKER: The League is rocked on Draft Day when the presumptive Number One draft pick, the first two-way player in modern football history, snubs the expansion Los Angeles Riot and declares he will only play for his hometown team. The Commissioner acquiesces, but the bad blood between the League and its new franchise player continues throughout the season. 2008, July 12 -- HAMMERHEADS HAMMERED: Miami is struck by a category 5 hurricane one month before the start of the 2008 season. The Hammerheads' new stadium suffers extensive damage. Owner Ross Taylor vows that home games will proceed as scheduled and that the Hammerheads will compete for the Division 2 championship. ============================ LEGAL DISCLAIMER AND ACKNOWLEDGMENTS ============================= [DCLAR] --------------- LEGAL DISCLAIMER This FAQS is copyright (c) 2016 Todd Collins.
