After losing all of my items and pets to a bizarre loading/saving issue, I decided to make a guide for speed running all of those things. It is recommended that you have beaten the game at least once before attempting the collection order of the animals and weapons in this guide. I also threw in some other little tidbits of info here and there, that I think will help round out your general knowledge of the game. :) I might add some boss strategies at a later time, but as for right now, this is mostly a collection guide with a few additional topics. I don't want to overwrite the effort of others, so I did a lot of compiling, and I think this guide is quite unique in the information it provides and it's overall purpose. If there's something not covered in my guide, chances are another FAQ covers the topic, or there's a message board sticky that can answer your questions. In the end, Castle Crashers is about teamwork. Make sure you have fun, and play nicely with others. Before I get this guide started, I want to let you in on a little secret I wasn't aware of for the first few days I played. If you or an ally die, and you fail CPR on them, you can still ressurect them. I thought that if you did it wrong, they were dead for the rest of the round. Furthermore, pressing {Y} fast will revive them faster, but with little HP. Tapping it in sync with the middle heart will revive them slower, but with much more HP. =) Alrighty, see you on the other side! --- [2.001] Levels - Stats ------------------------------------------------ =============================================================================== All characters start out with the same stats. Unlockable characters may start out with a higher level weapon which can modify those stats, but without that weapon all characters are the same. You have one point invested in each of the four stat trees by Default: Strength = Increases your weapon damage. Magic = Increases your magic damage; grants new spells every 5 levels. Defense = Increases your health / Armor. Agility = Increases your running speed, recovery time, and bow firing speed / damage. There are twenty five points total in each tree, which means you can invest up to 24 points in all the trees before you're maxed out. (Due to having one point in every tree from the start.) From level 2 until level 20, you gain 2 Stat points per level. At level 21, you will gain 1 stat point until you are level 76, when you will have all your stat trees maxed out. Every level after that will passively increase your health. Every five levels spent in magic will unlock new spells for you. See below for more information. --- [2.002] Combos - Spells ----------------------------------------------- =============================================================================== Various weapon combinations can be learned while leveling up your character. Combos LVL 1 {Y} By Enemy - Throws enemy. Can throw into other enemies. LVL 1 {Y} On Downed - Curbstomps a downed opponent. LVL 1 {X}{X}{X}{X} - Light Combo. LVL 1 {Y}{Y}{Y} - Heavy Combo. LVL 2 {A}{A} - Jump and Spin Attack. LVL 4 {Sprint}{X or Y} - Sprinting Attack. LVL 8 {X}{Y} - Uppercut throwing enemies into the air. Spamming combo while attacking keeps you in the air. LVL 8 {X}{Y}{X} - Midair spin attack after uppercut. LVL 16 {X}{X}{Y} - Slice, Slice, followed by a stunning Headbutt. LVL 25 {X}{X}{X}{Y} - Elemental Combo Spin. (Requires Magic LVL 15) LVL 32 {X}{X}{Y}{Y} - Slice, Slice, Headbutt, Upwards Slice. LVL 50 {X}{X}{X}{Y}{Y} - Combo with horizontal divebomb after the elemental combo spin. New magic spells become available at 5/10/15/20 points invested in Magic. Magic LVL 1 {RT} + {Y} - Starting Magic attack. Affects multiple enemies, increases in range/damage with magic level. (Must be held for Red Knight's lightning.) LVL 5 {RT} + {B} - Ranged projectile, affects one target. Powerful, can be shot horizontally in midair. LVL 10 {RT} + {A}{Y} - Powerful Ranged Projectile, affects one target. Fires multiple times, diagonally. LVL 15 {X}{X}{X}{Y} - Adds Elemental Damage to your spin combo. More powerful then normal combos. LVL 20 {RT} + {A} - Magic Jump. Does damage at 'launch' spot. Allows character to jump higher. --- [2.003] Items - Quest Items ------------------------------------------- =============================================================================== ================================= - Bow and Arrows ================================= First found in the level "Barbarian War", the Bow and Arrows will drop off of the brown Thieves. Select your bow from your inventory, and tap {B} to fire arrows. As you increase your points in Agility, you can fire arrows faster, stronger, and farther. ================================= - Boomerang ================================= Unlocked in 'Thieves' Forest'. Bring the Cardinal animal Orb into the start of the level, and walk over to where the crapping owl is. The cardinal should bring the 'rang to you. After selecting the boomerang from your inventory, you can charge it up by holding down {B} until it glows white. The Boomerang can stun small to medium enemies, and destroy 'gates' much faster then four knights wailing on it with swords. ================================= - Potions (5 Max) ================================= Potions can be purchased from any of the main stores in the game. During single player, they must be manually activated to heal your character. During multiplayer, the potions will automatically heal you, unless all of your allies are currently dead. Then it reverts to manual use. -Castle Keep 12 Gold -Thieve's Store 14 Gold -Volcano Store 13 Gold -Swamp Store 11 Gold -Snow Store 18 Gold ================================= - Bombs (9 Max) ================================= Purchased from only a select few shops, bombs can be used to damage enemies, or break damaged walls to access hidden weapons and pets. -Thieve's Store 15 Gold -Volcano Store 17 Gold -Swamp Store 19 Gold ================================= - Sandwiches (9 Max) ================================= These tasty peanut butter and jelly snacks pump your character up, granting him a giant muscular body for ten seconds and the ability to lift extremely heavy items, or do increased damage. If you're hard up on money, you can kill Fire Demons in the Lava world for free sandwiches. (You must kill the ones by the metal door, or volcano boss.) -Volcano Store 15 Gold -Snow Store 20 Gold ================================= - Compass (Blacksmith) ================================= This is laying on the ground between the Animal Ark, and Weapon Frog. ================================= - Steering Wheel (Lava World) ================================= The steering wheel is at the top of the Lava mountain, after beating the Sock Puppet Dragon. ================================= - Telescope (Industrial Castle) ================================= At the end of the Industrial Castle, after you kill the Purple Prince dude's machine, and then throw him off the level. :) ================================= - Shovel (Desert) ================================= Located as soon as you land in the Desert. Select the shovel from your inventory, and press {B} while standing over a dark X to dig up treasure. The shovel can do very minimal damage to nearby enemies. ================================= - Map (Sand Castle Roof) ================================= Awarded to you after winning a game of bizarre volleyball. The map allows you to progress to the swampy areas and stuff. ================================= - Horn (Corn Boss) ================================= Awarded to you by the Peasants after you beat the Corn boss. You can blow the horn near enemies and hostile players to knock them down. --- [2.004] Unlockable Characters ----------------------------------------- =============================================================================== I listed names that should help describe who I'm talking about, as well as the common names I usually hear for each character. To unlock a new character, you MUST beat all of the levels again. You can not have a higher level 'jump' you around the map. Check the 1st box when you've unlocked the Character. Works best on Barbarian, since he's predictable. - The Traitor Easiest way to get this is to have a higher level run you, (You playing the Barbarian) through the Barbarian Boss fight. - Conscientious Objector Easiest way to do this is have a higher level run you from Home Castle to the Barbarian fight. Don't swing your weapon. - Deer Trainer Don't hit any obstacles in The Abandoned Mill. Play it enough times, and you'll memorize the layout. Keep in the middle of the screen, and look for doorway lights. Following the other deer can work as well, if you stay between the group. - Maximum Firepower In Flowery Fields, press X at the height of the vertically charging bar after loading yourself into the cannon. - Treasure Hunter In The Desert levels, dig up all the treasure you can find until you've unlocked this achievement. - Medic! Heal three allies in the same game back from death by tapping Y. Must be online, as far as I know. - K.I.S.S. Collect all four princess kisses in a multiplayer Campaign game. Doesn't have to be in the same game. I think this can be achieved in splitscreen play. - Glork Win 20 Ranked All you can Quaff matches. Achievement might be glitched, people report having the correct ammount won but no achievement. - Arena Master Win 40 Ranked Arena (Melee?) matches.
