Well, this is my second FAQ. I decided to make it after I collected all 171 weapons. I also figured that it would be easier for people to check this to see what weapon(s) they're missing, etc. All opinions, strategies, and advice in this guide are purely from my point of view. There may or may not be better ways of doing things. What I have listed here is simply what has worked for me and what I have learned after 110+ hours of accumulated play time in this game. Do what you find works best for you. Oh, and yes, if you've ever been to my Geometry Wars FAQ you might say that I pretty much copy/pasted everything from that guide to this guide. Any other errors, fixes, or additions. ______ ______ / | 3 | \ =/~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\= | Weapon Basics |--------------------{ [SN-03] }------------------------ =\~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~/= -( Selection )- [SN-31] For each mission you can carry two weapons. These two weapons can be different, or the same. For example: AF14 Stingray M1 or Stingray M1 Stingray M1 It is generally recommended that you equip two different types of weapons for most levels. Having two of the same weapon or two of the same type of weapon (IE: two machine guns or two rocket launchers) can limit you greatly. While every level is different it is usually good to have some form of explosive. They affect multiple enemies at a time and do great damage. Below I've included a brief description of each type of weapon and its uses. Assault Rifle: Good for close to mid range combat. Primarily good for keeping off enemies who get too close past your longer range weapons. Deals out a good amount of ammo with fast reloads to "push" back enemies with ease, which is good when you're getting swarmed. Also good against all mechanical enemies. Shotgun: Good for close range combat only. Usually kills one target per blast and thus is not good when you're swarmed with enemies, especially when paired with the usually low reload time. The only use I've ever found for these were taking out gun ships, and even then I found other weapons to be more effective. Sniper Rifle: Excellent for mid to long range combat and taking out enemy spawning enemies like drop ships or holes. Also effective against robots and gun ships before they can get close and use their weapons on you. Ineffective against bugs generally because there are just so many of them and snipers have a lower rate of fire, with lower ammo capacity, and slower reload than a good assault rifle. Rocket Launcher: Great for mid to long range combat. Works well especially against swarms of enemies as more than one can be hurt in a single shot. Dangerous but usable at closer ranges, although not recommended unless absolutely needed. Not as effective against mechanical enemies as snipers or assault rifles, but still deal a great amount of damage to them none the less. Missile: Great for mid to long range combat. At closer ranges the missiles often miss their mark. While damage issued forth from these weapons is comparably lower than other weapons, the trade off is that you don't have to aim. You can, in fact, shoot in the opposite direction of your enemy, or not even be able to see your enemy, and your missiles will home in. Great against gun ships and robots, but poor against swarms of bugs because of low average blast radius of the missiles. Grenade: Hand grenades suck. Don't use them. Grenade launchers are excellent for mid to longer range combat. Each launcher has a different arc, or path that the grenades travel, but once learned it is always the same. Great for taking out swarms of enemies by carpeting them with grenades from above. Special Weapon: This section is comprised of many types of weapons. Acid Weapons: Great against close range bug swarms due to sheer amount of acid that is shot. Also good against robots, but due to the weapons' poor range they are overall not that great to use. Flame Throwers: Excellent close range weapons. Deals damage to every enemy in the path of the flame as well as causing all of them to be stunned, and thus being unable to attack you. C# Bombs: Great for setting traps in areas you know enemies spawn or will travel in their path to you. Also good for Level 43. Impulse Weapons: Not very effective for two reasons. First is that the pellets shot from each weapon are rarely used to their full potential with many to most of them missing any enemies in the area. Second is the reload time of 30 seconds for all impulse weapons. Poor accuracy with long reloads just makes these not a great weapon to use. Turrets: The most used weapons in the game. Great because they automatically target enemies, multiple guns can be set at one time, and most importantly is that while those are shooting you can use your second weapon to it's full potential, essentially allowing you to use both of your weapon choices at the same time. Superb at keeping off hordes of enemies as well as saving your life when you get swarmed or there are robots around. Firecrackers: Even worse versions of the already bad hand grenades. Like hand grenades, they boast low control of where they land and travel fairly slow, as well as an incredible short range for explosives and even slower "charge" time to be able to throw them a safe distance. Unlike hand grenades, however, these are even worse because all of their damage is spread over a large area, meaning you'll need to throw a whole bunch to kill anything, assuming you don't get swarmed by then. Bound Guns: Incredibly effective in the underground levels. Shots bounce of off the walls for the duration of their range, meaning that you can just shoot down a tunnel and any enemies within range will be damaged. Not as effective outside because there are simply more powerful assault rifles available and the "bound" effect of the weapons is limited to only a few circumstances, compared to being able to shoot anywhere. In the end I just suggest using what works best for you. -( Controls )- [SN-32] Nearly every weapon is fired with the right trigger. The few exceptions are weapons that are set in advance, but I'll get to that in a few moments. To switch between weapons press the right bumper. You cannot reload any weapon until your current clip is completely drained, at which point you will automatically begin the reload process. The reload process is simple; you just have to wait for the reload bar to fill up. You have unlimited ammo (infinite reloads) unless the weapon information states otherwise. This is generally limited to the plasma or energy based weapons. Now, some weapons have a second function from the right trigger (shoot). This second function is always activated by the left bumper (activate). For any weapon that has the "Zoom" function the left bumper will zoom your screen in and out according to how much the particular weapon allows. Switching to a different weapon while zoomed in will cease the zoom, but the cross hair will remain in the same spot. A good trick to use if your second weapon has no zoom function but you need to hit a precision target, or if you're using two of the same weapons (snipers usually works best, although this strategy is really only useful on a handful of levels) and don't want to waste time zooming in. The exception I mentioned earlier about firing weapons with the right trigger are any weapons that are set in advance. This includes all Bombs, Turrets, and Impulse weapons. These weapons are set in place on the ground where ever you choose. To place them simply pull the right trigger. If you wish to set all of your ammo in one spot you don't need to pull the trigger for each one, just hold it down. When you're done setting your weapon(s) will remain there for the rest of the level until used. To activate them press the left bumper. ______ ______ / | 4 | \ =/~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\= | Full Weapon List |--------------------{ [SN-04] }------------------------ =\~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~/= To see a weapons full statistics use the search function. The full statistics include: Capacity: Amount of ammunition held per clip. Rate of Fire: How fast ammunition is shot from the weapon. Damage: How much damage each round does. Total Damage: How much damage all ammunition from one clip does. Per Sec: How much damage a weapon does per second / overall including reload time. Formula for the damage per sec / overall stats are: Damage per sec: Rate of Fire * Damage Overall: Total Damage / [(Capacity / Rate of Fire) + Reload Time] Reload Time: How long it takes to reload a weapon after using all it's ammo. Range: How far a weapon's ammo will travel and still do damage. Accuracy: How straight the rounds fly when leaving the weapon. (E to S+) Zoom: How much your screen is zoomed in when you use the zoom function. Blast Area: How wide an area a weapon's explosion affects. Everything in this area, from the center to the edge, will receive full damage. Homing: How well the homing missiles can turn and track enemies. Fuse: Exclusive for grenade type weapons. Determines if a grenade will detonate upon impact, or after a set amount of time. Fuse Length: Exclusive for grenade type weapons. If a grenade's fuse is set to "Time" it will detonate after a set amount of time after launch. Quantity: Exclusive for turrets, bombs, and impulse weapons. Basically the same statistic as "Capacity". How many are available in one set. Loaded Ammo: Exclusive for turrets. Amount of ammunition each turret holds. Search Range: Exclusive for turrets. How far the turret can track and kill an enemy. Basically the same statistic as "Range". Extra Notes: Any other interesting information or opinions I might have. Spawn: Earliest a weapon becomes available. Difficulty / Level. I have included this statistic on the list below to save space. You will find it to the right of each weapon name. Note that not all weapons carry all statistics. The Per Sec statistic is good for comparing to other weapons. It shows you how much damage a weapon can -potentially- do, assuming you did not cease fire and hit every shot. Some weapons have a higher Per Sec, but slower Rate of Fire, so it is not always recommended to just choose your weapons based on the Per Sec. You must also consider the Capacity and Rate of Fire when comparing weapons with Per Sec. The Lysander Z, for example, has an excellent Per Sec, but it does a lot of damage in one, single shot. If your enemies are bugs it will kill them in one shot, but it is a waste of potential damage because the damage from one Lysander Z shot is good enough to kill two bugs. It can't, however. I would also like to point out that the Per Sec is fairly approximate, as it does not take into account the slight pause before and after reloading, as well as special circumstances like weapons with no auto-fire where the actual Rate of Fire is determined by how well the user can time shots. One must also note that Accuracy/Homing greatly affect if all of the weapons potential damage is actually used or not. A weapon with a high per sec in theory may not do much real damage in combat because it never hits its mark. The same can be said for Total Damage as well. Both of these statistics are just general guides. Also, for the weapon spawn information, it appears that there are no spawns for the Easy difficulty, but that is not true. Every weapon you can get for Normal (except the bonus weapon for ALL levels) will appear at the same level in Easy. Another point of interest is to note that only a few weapons appear on Inferno. If you simply cannot farm the Inferno difficulty yet, or would just rather work in a lower difficulty until you have more powerful weapons for Inferno, then playing on Hardest would probably be the However, since it is the first ST model developed shots travel slowly, making it ineffective against fast-moving targets. -( AF14-RAR )- [AR-04] Capacity: 150 Rate of Fire: 60.0/sec Damage: 5.4 Total Damage: 810 Per Sec: 324.0 / 180.0 Reload Time: 2.0sec Range: 120.0m Accuracy: B Description: An upgraded AF14-RA that fires an incredible 60 shots per second, resulting in overwhelming damage when all rounds hit. Ammunition, however, is used up quickly, and the weapon must be reloaded frequently. Also has a shot range. -( AF14-B3 )- [AR-05] Capacity: 30 Rate of Fire: 2.0*3/sec Damage: 40.0 Total Damage: 1,200.0 Per Sec: 240.0 / 184.62 Reload Time: 1.5sec Range: 240.0m Accuracy: A- Zoom: 2.0x Description: An upgraded AF14. This model fires 3-shot bursts in place of the full-auto function. There is no recoil from rapid-fire shots, so accuracy is unaffected. Range is also improved. Every high level weapon can be obtained on Level 40 or higher on the Inferno
difficulty except the Lysander Z, which can only be obtained on Level 42 or
higher on the Inferno difficulty. As such I've included a few techniques that I
find quite easy to use in order to farm for weapons, the Lysander Z, and I've
also included an easy strategy for farming some stamina on a few levels.
Note that Level 40 and Level 46 are for the Inferno difficulty for farming
weapons, and any other levels are for the Easy difficulty for farming stamina.
Oh, and remember, diving is your friend. In fact if you dive to where you are
going you'll get there nearly twice as fast as just simply running there.
-( Level 40 )- [SN-L1]
The strategy I find the absolute easiest for this level doesn't involve the
popular turrets. Those leave you open to attack quite often and take way too
long to reload. The weapons I choose are your best flame thrower, and your best
C20 Bombs (C70 if you've got them). Using these weapons, even the earlier
versions of them, can easily net you their most powerful forms.
As soon as the level starts turn around and make your way to the bridge. Set up
your bombs across the base of the bridge. Your goal is to create a line of
bombs from one cliff wall to the other, almost like a wall of bombs.
Return to where your EDF troops are holding off the enemy and give them a hand.
Remember, the flame throwers affect ALL enemies in the direction you are
shooting. Also, like all weapons, every time you hit an enemy it gets stunned.
SO, it is quite easy to "herd" enemies into a single spot by just running
around a center point. As more enemies attack you from the sides you just keep
moving until they are trapped in your fire. This is very effective because not
only does it prevent any of them from attacking you, but it also hurts ALL of
them at the same time.
Pay close attention to the radio chatter. The moment your EDF troops call HQ
get ready to detonate those bombs you set earlier. That radio call is the sign
that the second wave of enemies has spawned, and guess where they are. That's
right: right behind that bridge. Give them a moment to start crawling all over
it...then BOOM. Your wall of bombs has just become a wall of fire and death,
and you just killed off nearly the entire second wave of enemies in a single
blast. Take some time to collect weapons, then kill the remaining ants.

It is recommended that you farm Level 40 a few times until you have a higher
end Stingray rocket launcher / Assault Rifle.
Equip your best Stingray rocket launcher and best Assault Rifle or Bound Gun,
in that order. As the level is loading hold the trigger. Before your screen
even becomes fully visibly you've already killed 10-15 spiders. Shoot off a few
more rockets then turn around and head for the two tunnels behind you. You'll
want to take the left tunnel. Check your radar to make sure no enemies are at
the end of it. If it looks like there are, even if you don't see any on your
screen, shoot some rockets. Odds are they're right around the corner waiting to
blast you.
Once you've secured the top of the tunnel just hold that position. Check your
radar often to ensure you're not getting flanked, and if you do that is what
the machine gun is for. Mostly, though, you'll just want to be shooting rockets
down to the beginning of the tunnel where you came from. Most of the spiders
will be trying to follow you there, a perfect bottle neck for some explosive
fun and easy destruction of most of the spiders.
Just remember to take the time to collect some weapon pick ups before the last
enemy is destroyed. Also, once you acquire the Lysander Z it is recommended
that you return to farming Level 40 as you average more weapon pick ups per go
on that level.
-( Level 8, 30, and 52 )- [SN-L3]
Stamina gold mines! I easily farmed these levels before I even started working
on the Normal difficulty, which means I was using crappy guns and still won.
All three of these levels have drop ships that not only do they remain
stationery for the entire level, but they'll also drop an infinite amount of
enemies. If you don't have a machine gun that can kill an Easy level ant in
one hit then just use a flame thrower, and your second weapon should be a long
range weapon, as you will need to take out the drop ships at one point or
another. If you don't have a flame thrower then just use your skills for kills.
Simply clear the levels of any other ships/enemies, excluding a single drop
ship, then farm to your fill. Just make sure to pick up the pick ups here and
there. There IS a limit to how many can be on the level at once, and that limit
is lower for easier difficulties.
For Level 08: There are a few spawns of enemies before the drop ships arrive.
From your starting point the two ships will separate, one going
to your right, and the other to the left. Your choice as to which
one you want to farm.
For Level 30: One again, really your weapons of choice. On this level you can
choose if you want to be killing black ants, red ants, or
spiders, but in any case it's the same deal as the last level. I
sometimes used the Battle Machine Vegalta near where you spawn.
It has a nifty flame thrower AND machine gun, so it you ever run
out of ammo you have a back up.
For Level 52: By FAR the best level to farm for stamina. In fact, I only
included the last two levels in case you hadn't yet reached Level
52, or just needed more stamina in order to beat it. Once again,
though, it's the same easy strategy. Work your way through the
level until you just have the one drop ship left, then kill to
your content. This is by far the best level simply because the
drop ships drop so many ants at once, and drop them often, which
means there are plenty of pickups coming your way. Plus, they're
black ants, so they die quickly.

This game is great! Pure arcade shooting action fun! SURE, the graphics aren't
top notch and the animations are fairly amateur, but the explosions are AWESOME
and the sound, while sometimes repetitive, is great overall and works well.
This is one of the few games where you really seem to start caring about your
comrades. Perhaps it's their naive attitude or courageous shouts of battle, but
in any case at least they're useful in killing enemies, which is far more than
one can ask for from most allied AI these days, even in the later difficulties.
Plus, if you can get into the game enough, you really feel like you're Storm 1,
facing off against hordes upon armies upon legions of enemies. You're saving
the Earth, and you'll blow up, snipe, and shoot down as many aliens as you can.
If you want to know exactly what I mean, then keep playing until you reach the
last level. The harder the difficulty, the better, and try not to beat it too
quickly. Listen to what your allies are saying. Gives me goosebumps every time.
