This is my first (published) walkthrough for any game, but I'm also thinking about publishing others. Don't worry, though, I will be able to properly guide you, having defeated Need For Speed: Most Wanted (hereafter referred to as NFSMW) five times, first three on a Gamecube, last two on a Xbox 360. This guide will be a 360 guide, though the difference in each of the platforms is minor. Alright, now for some pointers in using this guide. 1)Don't steal ANYTHING! Doing so will result in breaking laws, copyright infringement, and having to stay home Friday when your mom finds out! I will also send my crazy three-legged space chicken to exact intergalactic retribution! This walkthrough is copyrighted according to the DMCA. (http://www.copyright.gov/legislation/dmca.pdf) 2)I have an e-mail for GameFAQ's readers now! You can reach me at: burlybrawler777 [at] rocketmail [dot] com See Closing for the Terms of Use. 3) Check me out on Facebook! I have a page set up where you can check out some more awesome stuff and contact me there! Just go to www.facebook.com (you need your OWN account [it's FREE!]) and search for "Burly Brawler" (quotes unnecessary). 4)The only websites allowed to host this walkthrough is GameFAQs, NeoSeeker and SuperCheats. I may consider adding to this list, but this is all for now. 5)If you are reading this to see if NFS:MW really is worth the $27.99 at GameStop, then let me assure you: it is! By far, it is the best Need For Speed title out of the series, and possibly THE best of all racing games! PGR and NASCAR can't compete, MX vs. ATV and Forza can't touch this! Second place is probably Burnout Paradise, if only for it's 92 songs, indestructible hovercar (Jansen 88 Special), huge world, and really HIGH AIR! But NFS:MW is still... #1. 6)PARENTAL NOTE: This game is as clean as they come. The music has been edited, much like how radio stations do, to take out any explicative. There is no swearing and no adult content. Nobody dies, their cars just get smashed. This is not a cop-killing or mafia game, like GTA or Driver3. There's no shooting, knifing, or killing; although the police use Judo on apprehended racers. This is not a story about vengeance, it's a story about retribution and reclaiming what has been stolen. And, in NFS: Undercover, you find that the hero (player) of the NFS series was not just a street racer, he was an undercover cop all along! _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Table Of Contents - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 01) Foreword 02) Table Of Contents 03) Introduction, or, Who on earth wrote this thing? 04) Controls (Standard Configuration) 05) HUD *Coming Soon!* 06) Racing 07) Free-Roam Rosewood Camden Rockport 08) Pursuit, or, Seperating Cop from Donut Heat Levels 5-0 Milestones Bounty Locations HUD Elements Breaking the LOS Pursuit Breakers Cooldown Hiding Spots Pursuit Ending: Got Away Pursuit Ending: Busted Lowering Your Heat Radio Codes Rap Sheet Maneuvers 09) Pointers for the less experienced 10) Career Prologue Blacklist Racer #15: Ho Suen "Sonny" Blacklist Racer #14: Vince Kilic "Taz" Blacklist Racer #13: Victor Vasquez "Vic" Blacklist Racer #12: Izabel Diaz "Izzy" Blacklist Racer #11: Lou Park "Big Lou" Blacklist Racer #10: Karl Smit "Baron" Blacklist Racer #09: Eugene James "Earl" Blacklist Racer #08: Jade Barret "Jewels" Blacklist Racer #07: Kira Nakazoto "Kaze" Blacklist Racer #06: Hector Domingo "Ming" Blacklist Racer #05: Wes Allen "Webster" Blacklist Racer #04: Joe Vega "JV" Blacklist Racer #03: Ronald McCrea "Ronnie" Blacklist Racer #02: Toru Sato "Bull" Blacklist Racer #01: Clarence Callahan "Razor" Finale 11) Car Lot Stock Bonus 12) One-Stop Shop Parts Performance Visuals 13) Challenge Series 14) My Cars, Quick Race, and Xbox Live 15) SMS Messages 16) Codes and Unlockables 17) Glitches 18) Xbox 360 Achievements 19) Need For Speed Game List 20) EA Trax 21) Closing and Version History _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Introduction, or, Who on earth wrote this thing? - - - - - - - - - - _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Hi. My name is BurlyBrawler777. I have written walkthroughs for several games, but this is the first publishable one! I have played (and beaten) several of the Need For Speed Series: The Need For Speed (PC) Need For Speed II (PC) Need For Speed III: Hot Pursuit (PC) Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed (PC) Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit II (PC & GC) Need For Speed: Most Wanted (GC & 360) Need For Speed: Carbon - Collector's Edition (PC, GC & 360) I am currently going through Need For Speed: Undercover (why did they take out EA TRAX?). And on my Most Wanted profile (100% Completed), I have been busted only once (on the final pursuit). Also, for all you Burnout fans, I have played the original Burnout(GC), and have become a Burnout Elite on Burnout Paradise (with a Big Surf Island License). I do not have Xbox Live Gold, so I cannot race online (don't ask to). I plan on writing and publishing several more walkthroughs in the future. Different items appear in different contexts. There are three contexts: Free-Roam, Racing, & Pursuit. ------------------- Free Roam ------------------- Radar - The Radar, located top and center of the screen, points in the direction of an approaching cop or photo ticket. Cops are designated by a yellow arrow, while photo tickets are orange arrows. The Radar will not point in the direction of anything that is behind your car, though. Mini Map - Located in the bottom left corner, the Mini Map gives a zoomed- in look at your current location. You are seen as a white arrow, racers roaming around are seen as yellow arrows, and cops are seen as blue arrows. The Arrows point in the direction they are currently facing. The Heat Meter wraps around the side of the Mini Map, and indicates how much the cops want you. Gauge - The Gauge, located in the bottom right corner of the screen, tells you how fast you are currently driving, how much NOS is currently available, how much Speedbreaker is currently available, and what gear you are in. ------------------- Racing ------------------- Radar - Same as in Free Roam. Mini Map - Same as in Free Roam. Gauge - Identical to the Gauge in Free Roam. Leaderboard - While racing, the Leaderboard will appear in the top right corner of the screen. This shows the current positions of each racer, as well as how long the race has taken, how much time you have left (Tollbooth only), and how many laps you have done (out of the lap total). ------------------- Pursuit ------------------- Radar - Unless you are in Cooldown Mode, the Radar is unavailable during a pursuit. Mini Map - While in Pursuit, the Mini Map shows you as a white arrow, fellow racers as yellow arrows, and cops as blue and white flashing arrows. Red triangles can also be seen, as they mark the locations of Pursuit Breakers. When you have entered cooldown mode, Pursuit Breakers will no longer be visible on your map. Instead, you will see blue circles, which indicate the locations of Hiding Spots. Gauge - Identical to the Gauge in Free Roam. Evade Meter - Located at the bottom and center of the screen, the Evade Meter shows how close you are to escaping or getting busted by the cops. It also shows how many cops are after you, and how many police cruisers you've damaged or disabled. If there are only a few officers after you, it will also show a timer (usually two minutes) that indicates how long you have until police back-up arrives. Milestone Status Board - Like the Leaderboard, the MSB shows the neccessary items to successfully complete the challenge. It shows how much you still have to do before completing a milestone, how long the pursuit has lasted, and how much bounty you have accumalted in that pursuit. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Racing - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ There are several race types in NFSMW. Races take up about 2/3 of the time spent on the game. In Career Mode, Races (even ones you've done before) earn cash for cars, performance upgrades, styling, and Jail Fees. Outside of Career Mode, they make a great multiplayer add-on. I will explain each race type here. Sprint – Make it from point A to point B before the other racers. The path will follow a straight course, with few shortcuts, and roads leaving the path will be blocked off with yellow arrows pointing which way to go. Circuit – Make a loop around, and around, ... and around and finish before everybody else. About the least interesting part of the game, but probably the most challenging with all the sharp turns. Leave everybody else driving in circles! Lap Knockout – Circuit races with a twist: finish each lap (always three laps) in any place but last. At the end of each lap, the racer in last position gets K. O.ed of the race. So first lap – third place or higher, second lap – second place or higher, third lap – first place. That is, if you WANT to win. Tollbooth – Make it from tollbooth to tollbooth without running out of time! It's you against the clock! If you run out of time, it's race over! Speedtrap – Make it to each speedclock point faster (before helps as well) than the other racers. Your total speed from each speedclock is added up and if your total speed is higher than the other players, you win! Oh, wait, there IS a catch. Your total speed will drop for each second that the first racer to pass the finish line passes said finish line and you have not. Drag – Drag racing is the lowest paying job in the game (starts at $750 and goes to $5,000), yet, the hardest. You hold down the accelerator and manually shift when it tells you to: no icon – early shift blue icon – good shift yellow icon – perfect shift flashing red icon – SHIFT! NOW! If you don't, you get a nice blown engine while every one passes you! Tap in the direction you want to turn – and your car changes lanes automatically. Don't hit anything, or your car is totaled! If a cop locks on during a race, they will follow you, but won't send out Rhinos, Choppers, Spikes, or Roadblocks (no, this isn't Hot Pursuit!) Also, any milestones will start AFTER the race is over, regardless of finish position. If you get busted during a race, press Y to restart the race without having to pay fines or get it on your record! _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Free-Roam - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ This is the part of the game where you just cruise around, taking a nice Sunday Drive. Unfortunately, the joyride normally doesn't last long, as cops are almost always alerted of your presence in their district. Here are some landmarks and locations to go check out! Rosewood (unlocked at beginning): Rosewood is the rural/suburban part of the Tri-Cities area (no, not NFS: Undercover), and offers a few subdivisions, some light industrial areas, a college, a football field, a golf course, and a few mountain passes. Overall, it is an ideal beginner's district (probably why you start there...). A good bit of it looks like Canada (go figure, it's EA Canada.) Petersburg Interstate – This road completely encircles Rosewood, with exits at West Heritage Heights, Hickley Field, East Heritage Heights and Rosewood College, Forest Green Country Club and Boundary Mall, Rosewood Main and PD, Rosewood Central, and Highway 201. On the west side (in between Rockport and Hickley Exits), the Interstate will split, converge, split, converge. If you are going north (in a race or pursuit), take the left fork and then the right fork. When going south, same instructions, but in reverse. Mighty Atlas – Going west to east on the Petersburg, it is just past Hickley. It makes a nice roadside attraction. Rosewood Mountain Condominiums – Same Route as above, just past it. Gatlinburg, anyone? Another wonderful attraction. Rosewood Mountain – You see it to the north, and yet you can never reach it... I believe that this is the same mountain out of the backdrop for Need For Speed II – Pacific Spirit. The only way out of Rosewood, Camden & Rockport – This closed off road, just north of Hickley Exit opens once, and ONLY once, at the Finale of the game [See Career > Finale]. You don't go very far before the credits roll, and after you go back (after the credits), it is closed again. Also, that night, or a few nights after you take that road, Cross bumps into you and NFS Carbon begins (I wonder if it is the same road...). Hickley Field – This baseball stadium is off the Petersburg on the northwest side of Rosewood. Access to Hickley Field is right next to Hickley Exit or the tree-covered twisting exit from Rosewood College. Two awesome pursuit breakers are in the field itself, with a hiding spot in the parking lot. Next game, Saturday, 3 PM. BE THERE! Burger King Blimp – On the road from Hickley to Rosewood, or the north road from Rosewood Main to Hickley through Heritage Circle, look up. It's there. Really, it IS there. No, I'm serious... Ironwood Circle – Ironwood Circle is right by Hickley Field and the Hickley entrance to Rosewood College. It is a small circular park with entrances at Hickley Field, Hickley Exit, and Ironwood Estates. Rosewood College – A large, circular campus to the north of Rosewood that mixes old brick with a sky rise in the center. Not many pursuit breakers (the only ones being in the nearby forest trails), but there are a few hiding spots. Two entrances from Heritage Heights, two from Rosewood Forest, one from the Country Club, and one just north of your Rosewood Safe House (through the Rosewood Hospital). Ironwood Office Park – Past the small circle near Hickley, these two buildings are taken out of the original Burnout (Interstate or Rush Hour, on the Exit ramp). Heritage Heights – The main housing/subdivision area of Rosewood. Not much to see (or do) here. Access to Rosewood College, Hickley Field, and Petersburg Interchange available. Forest Green Country Club and Rosewood Forest – The Country Club (complete with full 9-hole golf course) is to the northeast of Rosewood Main, and the Forest is to the west of the Club. With bumpy sand traps, thick grass that makes handling difficult, and big trees that are an immediate halt, this golf course is NOT for the faint of heart! Also, the forest was taken out of Hot Pursuit 2 (remember the Fall Winds and Coastal Parklands tracks?). Access from Rosewood College or the Petersburg. Rosewood Farms – On the northeastern edge of the map along the Petersburg, these farms are nothing more than a roadside attraction. Boundary Mall – To the south of Rosewood, this mall that looks more like a grocery store serves as a dividing line between Rosewood and Camden. Access from the Petersburg, Rosewood Central, the Camden Trails, and Chase Rd. Rosewood Central – A large bus depot to the south of Rosewood complete with gas stations, used car lots, and a One-Stop-Shop. Access from Rosewood Main, Boundary Mall, Camden Omega Power Plant, and Little Italy available. Rosewood Hospital – On a sloping, twisting access between the Rosewood Safe House and Rosewood College. An item of high interest is that when going through, you can take a shortcut through the hospital! Most races, though, will have this shortcut blocked off. Rosewood Waterpark – In between Rosewood Main and Hickley Field, this park offers an alleyway shortcut and two hiding spots. You will drive through it or pass it at the beginning of your first (BR #15) sprint race. Rosewood Police Department – This small drive-through is good for two reasons. One: Smashing into Radio Tower to disable all cop cars behind you as you leave the Petersburg Interstate. Two: Heading north from opposite exit to reach Safe House after disabling said cop cars. Rosewood Main – The big, college-like entrance into Rosewood from the Petersburg that you drive under and the surrounding area. In this area is a One-Stop Shop, a Safe House, a Car Lot, Rosewood PD and FD, two Diggy's, a Burger King, the Waterpark, a Car Park, a Tire Shop (unusable), and two churches with a small subdivision. You meet Big Lou at the entrance with the clock. Access from Rosewood Central, Main Exit, Hickley Exit, Ironwood Estates, and Rosewood College. Ironwood Estates – The subdivision between Ironwood Circle and Rosewood Main is known as Ironwood Estates. Diamond Park – Diamond Park is a square/diamond-ish park right next to the Rosewood Safe House. All it really offers is breaking the LOS (Line Of Sight) with cops. One-Stop Shops – There are three Shops in Rosewood, each carrying the same merchandise as the others. One is next to Rosewood Central, another on the north side of the Petersburg Interstate, and the last is just north of the Rosewood Safe House. Car Lots – There is only one Car Lot in Rosewood, and it is on the same road as Hickley Exit, the Waterpark, and the two Diggy's Donuts. Safe Houses – There is one Safe House in Rosewood. It's location is unnecessary for me to list, as you are directed to it after you pick out your first car. It's an abandoned Flea Market. Camden Beach (unlocked after BR #13): Camden offers two subdivisions, a trailer park, and a few sparse homes among it's predominately industrial and fishing areas. There is also a small commercial area, a long tunnel, and a lighthouse. Camden Omega Power Plant – The curving road just south of Rosewood Central is (on the Police Radio) known as the Omega Power Plant. I guess it is just another roadside building. Camden Trailer Camp – To the very north of Camden is a long trailer/mobile home camp with a single hiding spot and two pursuit breakers. Several races run through here. Access available from Dunwich Village, the Camden Trails, and the Camden Cannery / North Dockyards. Camden Trails – To the northwest of Camden and the southeast of Rosewood, these hilly trails provide access between the Camden Trailer Camp, Cannery, and the Boundary Mall. Camden Cannery / North Dockyards – A small fishing / industrial area with two hiding spots and no pursuit breakers. Access from Camden Trailer Camp, Boundary Mall, and the North Industrial Park. Dunwich Village – Just southeast of the Camden Trailer Camp, Dunwich Village offers two pursuit breakers, one hiding spot, a One-Stop Shop, and a Safe House. This small fishing village, complete with a gas station, water tower (unusable), and church can be accessed from Camden Trailer Camp and the North Industrial Park. The Horn – A small road between Dunwich Village and the North Industrial Park with a seaside, a tunnel, and a natural lane. North Industrial Park – To the southeast of Dunwich Village and the northeast of the Beach, this heavy industrial area offers nothing more than sharp turns, a neat ramp in the middle, and a passage from Dunwich Village to Chase Rd or the Beach. The Beach – This sprawling area of Camden stretches from South Gray Point to Camden Tunnel. It offers several pursuit breakers and a few hiding spots, along with a Safe House. Towards the east side is a long strip of beach houses and a construction site, while an abandoned carnival and a dockyard are on the western side. Access from Ocean Hills, Camden Tunnel, North Gray Point, and Point Camden. Ocean Hills – Ocean Hills takes up the central area of Camden, with a large cluster of businesses, industrial blocks, a fire station, a Burger King, a radio station, and two subdivisions. A One-Stop Shop is available, along with a few hiding spots and pursuit breakers. Access from The Beach, Camden Tunnel, South Gray Point, North Gray Point, Boundary Mall, Camden Penitentiary, and Point Camden. Beacon Point – To the south of Ocean Hills, Beacon Point is a small island with a total of six houses, one hiding spot, and a lighthouse. You are seen driving on the Point in the cutscene of you and Mia racing. Point Camden Industrial Park – To the south of Camden, this very large shipyard/industrial park offers no pursuit breakers, a handful of hiding spots, and a One-Stop Shop. Barriers and hard turns are the name of the game in an area full of ramps, ship hulls, trainyards, and steep curves. Access from Point Camden, Camden Omega Power Plant, and Downtown Rockport. Only the most skilled drivers can hope to accomplish anything here. Chase Rd. - This Road goes from Boundary Mall to Ocean Hills with access at Ocean Hills, Boundary Mall, South Gray Point, and Camden Penitentiary. Camden Penitentiary – This place is exactly like Rosewood Hospital, except for the fact that it is a prison, not a hospital. Approach this the same way as Rosewood Hospital, though. A Car Lot is at the southern end, with access from the Beach and Chase Rd. Camden Hotel – I'm guessing it is a hotel. It looks like a hotel. It even has a fountain. It may not be... This tall building (the only one in Camden) can be found in South Gray Point and comes with a hiding spot in it's underground parking lot. Access from the Omega Power Plant, Ocean Hills, and Chase Rd. Camden Drive-In – This abandoned theater provides a shortcut, pursuit breaker, and hiding spot. Access from Chase Rd, North Industrial Park, and the Omega Power Station. Also nearby is a One-Stop Shop. Camden Office Park – Directly north of the Hotel along Chase Rd, this office park (complete with a fountain) makes yet another roadside attraction. Access from Chase Rd and the Penitentiary. Camden Tunnel – This long tunnel (the longest in the game) provides access from Ocean Hills and the Beach to the Point Camden Industrial Park. Also of interest is that if one goes fast enough (in a lightweight car) while heading north, one can smack off the overhead traffic light at the top of the hill... Car Lots – There is one Car Lot in Camden Beach, and it is located in North Gray point just south of the Camden Penitentiary. Access from the Penitentiary or the Beach. One-Stop Shops – There are four Shops in Camden. One is to the north in Dunwich Village (near the Safe House), another is in the commercial/industrial area in the center of Camden (by the Burger King), another is on the road between the North Industrial Park and Chase Rd (in South Gray Point), and the last is to the south in the Point Camden Industrial Park. Safe Houses – There are two Safe Houses in Camden. One is to the north in Dunwich Village, and the other is in the center of Camden in an abandoned Carnival along the waterfront. Rockport City (unlocked after BR #09): The best part of the tri-city area (no, not NFS: UC!!!) can be found in Rockport, complete with water fountains, parks, open highways, and high-rise buildings. A single subdivision, a projects, a football field, and even a Times Square-ish area are among the many things to see and do. This may not be Big Surf Island or New York City, but it is a great place to take a Sunday drive. Highway 201 – Like the Petersburg Interstate, Highway 201 completely encircles it's district. There are several lane splits, exits, curves, along with a tunnel and three high ramps. Roadside attractions include The Projects and other inaccessible parts of the city. Exits are Camden Point Industrial Park and Lennox Rd, Petersburg Interstate/Rosewood Central and Century Square, Riverfront Stadium and South Financial District, and Downtown Rockport (the exit that you take right before the very first race of the game). There is a one-way access to Highway 201 from the north construction site. Riverfront Stadium – Located at the southernmost point of Rockport City, the Riverfront Stadium offers only a single hiding spot in it's underground parking lot, but, if you are in a pursuit of Heat Level 3 or lower and drive through the stadium from west to east fast enough... Little Italy – The north part of Rockport is known as Little Italy, and it is characterized by pizza parlor and Italian cooking signs over the road. Little Italy has a Car Lot, a gas station, a few hiding spots, a medium-sized park, and the Rockport Fire Department. Access from Century Square, Lennox Rd, Financial District, and Rosewood Central. Century Square – This Times Square-ish has several B-films showing, a Burger King, and a hiding spot. Note the triangular building in the middle (with all the billboards). For a little trivia, there is an exact duplicate by the outdoor concert auditorium and both of these buildings are based off of the actual Flatiron building in NYC. North Construction Site – Located by the outdoor concert auditorium, this small unfinished building provides a hiding spot, pursuit breaker, and a one-way access to Highway 201. Rockport Police Department – Found on the side of Lennox Road, this PD offers a pursuit breaker and a hiding spot. Financial Plaza – The Financial Plaza is an access from the Financial District to Lennox Road, and it has a single pursuit breaker. This small stretch is as close to the skyscrapers as you are going to get in this game. The Rockport Sewers – The sewers provides unmonitored access from just north of Waterfront Stadium to the outdoor concert auditorium and Lennox Road (near the Safe House). It also gives you a very nice escape from a pursuit of any Heat with a Mega Pursuit Breaker and a hiding spot next to it. Lennox Rd. - This road, which is in Downtown Rockport, provides a shortcut from the western exit on Highway 201 to the eastern one. It contains several items of interest, including: a One-Stop Shop, a Car Lot, the Rockport PD, two access ramps that lead to the unfinished Rockport Tunnel, and a Safe House. Access from Highway 201, Downtown Rockport, Financial Plaza, & Little Italy. One-Stop Shops – There is one Shop in Rockport, and it can be found on Lennox Road, past the Rockport Police Department. Car Lots – There is a single Car Lot in Rockport, and it is in Little Italy, and it is also on Lennox Road. You pass it (and the Shop) on your first race with Ronnie (in the Prologue) right before you make that very sharp turn. Safe Houses – There is one Safe House in Downtown Rockport. It is off the southern exit of Highway 201 and on the lower lane of Lennox Road. More locations/info coming in my next update! _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Pursuit, or, Seperating Cop from Donut - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ------------------------- Heat Levels - - - - - ------------------------- The longer you are in a pursuit, the higher your heat level is. The higher your heat level is, the more challenging it is to get away. The first two levels are local small-time fuzz, the next two levels are state authorities, and after that... the feds. Heat Level 1 [Local] – Civic Cruiser (Crown Victoria) These small-time Diggy's patrons would like to get back to their coffee and donuts as soon as possible, and as such, will not be hard to shake. Unless they caught onto a race, anything over 120 will lose them. No more than five cops will be after you at a time. Heat Level 2 [Local] – Civic Undercover Cruiser (Crown Victoria Interceptor) On this heat level, be on the lookout for black sedans. These are undercover cops, and will give chase if you are not a slow and careful driver. Ten cars are the max here. This level also sees the introduction of roadblocks. Heat Level 3 [State] – State Pursuit Vehicle (Pontiac GTO) The local yokels were not sufficient, so now the state has been called out on you. The cops are faster and tougher then those pesky local flies. Along with SUV roadblocks, they will call in Rhinos to ram you head on. Any more than fifteen cops are indicative of a higher heat level or a glitch. Heat Level 4 [State] – State Undercover Vehicle (Pontiac GTO Interceptor) Happy days are gone again. It gets hard from here. The Eye in the Sky will be with you from here on, and now you have to watch and listen for spikes in the road. No more than twenty will give chase. Heat Level 5 [Federal] – Federal Pursuit Vehicle (Chevrolet Corvette C6) Alright, now some guy is screaming for your takedown in the FBI Headquarters, USA. And that guy is Sgt. Cross, who, being the best driver in Rockport (as the game says), will be in a special Corvette that is easily spotted. Take him down for a major bounty boost. All the corvettes will be equipped with NOS and will easily keep up with you. The Corvettes will be lightweight (good for ramming, PITting, etc.), but will also be able to do the same to you. They especially enjoy getting about ten cars to completely surround your car (should you stop or be stopped), and cut off any escape. Twenty-five cops at a time will be determined to do one thing, and one thing only: Take. You. Down. Heat Level 6 [Federal] – Federal Undercover Vehicle (Corvette C6 Interceptor) Welcome to Heaven's opposite. Every cop in the city is after you, and they won't be satisfied with taking you down. No, they want to total your car, rip you out of the car, and beat your head against the pavement until you cry for an Advil. Then, they'll tase you, handcuff you, locking you up and throwing away the key forever and ever and ever amen. You don't actually see all that, but that is how they act. This heat level is only accessed in the quote-unquote Final Pursuit (quote-unquote because you can get into other pursuits after this one). There is no getting away until the StarGate (abandoned road) opens. Heat Level 7 [Federal] – I will not cover this as I don't have/never had the Black Edition, and thus I do not know anything about it. I will fill in once I get the 411 on this 5-0 Level. ------------------------- 5-0 - - - - - ------------------------- The list of pursuit vehicles can be found here, along with what heat level they can be found in: Standard Vehicles - Civic Cruiser – Heat Level 1 - $250 Bounty - Sheriff Bob is a'aimin' to stop ya, um..., that is..., if he can get back to Diggy's real soon. Don't expect to get busted or chased very fast by this guy. Civic Undercover Cruiser – Heat Level 2 - $500 Bounty - Sheriff Bob is back. In black. And he's got some friends to help him out with a brand-new bowling alley, um, I mean roadblock. State Pursuit Vehicle – Heat Level 3 - $2,500 Bounty - Sheriff Bob got fired, and now the state has taken over. The SPVs can go faster, they're tougher, and will now send SUVs to ram you head on. Getting busted is a small possibility here. State Undercover Vehicles – Heat Level 4 - $5,000 Bounty - The state has made an improvement on the Civic Undercover Cruiser, making them harder to take out or get away from. Federal Pursuit Vehicle – Heat Level 5 - $20,000 Bounty - The state has called on a higher power: the Feds. These guys roll out with NOS-equipped Corvette C6s and will make it very difficult not to get busted. It will take some fancy pedal work to escape these guys. Federal Undercover Vehicles – Heat Level 6 - $25,000 Bounty - Perception: These are just ordinary black Corvettes with ordinary civilians driving them. Reality: These black Corvettes are filled with malice, vengeance, and destructive power and are all bent on one thing: You. Whoa. Special Vehicles - Light SUV – Heat Level 3 - $10,000 Bounty - These big guys will be ramming you head-on and making up roadblocks in higher heat levels, sporting their K-9 Unit decals. When these go flying, so do the poor animals inside. (No animals were harmed in the making of this game!) Heavy SUV – Heat Level 4 through 6 - $15,000 to $25,000 Bounty - The bigger they are, the harder they fall, right? Wrong. The bigger they are, the harder it gets to make them fall. These are just like the Light SUV, except that they are: Better, Stronger, Faster! Police Chopper – Heat Level 4 - $0 Bounty (Indestructible) - Okay. You've totaled everyone chasing you. There is not a single (functioning) police car around. Yet your evade meter is not going up and you are not able to hide. Why? It's the Chopper! "I always feel like Somebody's Watchin' me...." Eagle One Helicopter – Heat Level 5 - $0 Bounty (Indestructible) - The Eye in the Sky has decided to throw a little dirt in your eye. These will swoop down out of the sky to either cloud your vision (sometimes resulting in disaster) or ram you from above (very annoying). These might be possible to take down by hitting a pursuit breaker when they hit your roof, but I haven't done it/seen proof of it, so I won't give you any false hopes. Sgt. Cross – Heat Levels 5 & 6 - $100,000 Bounty - You know Sgt. Cross. He's that really nice guy who keyed your car, locked you up, and sent you those endearing messages. And you know Cross is mad when he joins the fight. He sports a black Corvette Z06 with a cool paint job and even cooler bounty (for totaling it). One of the loading screens states that he is the best driver in Rockport. What's scary is that he follows you from Maine to California (in Carbon) just to exact vengeance! ------------------------- Milestones - - - - - ------------------------- Along with winning races and getting bounty, you have to complete specific milestones before taking on a Blacklist Racer. The milestones come in several types, which are listed here: Photo Ticket – While in Free Roam, you will see Speedtrap-style photo tickets on the maps and hovering over the road. Pass under these faster then the Blacklist Milestone dictates and you will get a milestone completed along with some bounty. If you fail on your first attempt, go back to the Safe House and try again. If you turn around or choose it from the in-game menu (D-Pad Down), the area will be stopped up with traffic when you get near it, while choosing it from the Safe House resets it. Trade Paint – When being chased by the 5-0, slam into one of them. You get an infraction (yes, that's a good thing), and the number of damaged cruisers goes up by one. Do this as many times as the milestone states to complete this one. NOTE: Hitting a cop will make the number go up, but hitting a civilian or hitting the same cop will not. Cost To State – While in a pursuit, hit something. Any little something. As long as it's something. Do it again and again and again and watch the Cost-To-State amount go up. Bounty – Rack up enough in-pursuit bounty to get this one. Milestone Bounty is not added to this amount. Rack up bounty by getting infractions, time stayed in a pursuit, and disabled cops. This is combo-ed with heat level and the number of totaled pursuers. Roadblock – You know those bowling alleys, um, I mean Roadblocks? Go around or smash through enough of these to obtain this milestone. Pursuit Time Challenge – Spend as long as possible in a pursuit for this. Pursuit Evasion – Get away as fast as you can for this one. Infractions – Be a bad boy to get this milestone. To get an Infraction, break the law. There are several infractions: Speeding – Go faster than 150 MPH. Excessive Speeding – Don't go slower than 150 for a while. Reckless Driving – Go faster than 175 MPH. Ramming a Police Vehicle – Slam into a Diggy's patron. Hit & Run – Hit a civilian. Damage to Property – Hit something destructible. Resisting Arrest – Enter Cooldown Mode. Driving Off-Roadway – Leave the road service. Spike Strip – Do what you would do with a roadblock, but watch out for the spikes. In Heat 4 or higher listen to the Police Band and apply speedbreaker when approaching a bowling alley, um, you know what I mean... NOTE: You can get several milestones in the same pursuit, along with any uncompleted milestones from previous Blacklist Racers. ------------------------- Bounty Locations - - - ------------------------- These are the default locations for starting a pursuit that are accessed from Blacklist > Bounty. Rosewood - Rosewood Police Station – A great place to get all those Pursuit Evasion Milestones. Hit the tower (on heat 2 or lower) and head north to your Safe House. Rosewood Fire Station – Located in the middle of Rosewood Main, this Fire Station is an easy place to rack up some bounty. Forest Green Country Club – It will take a skilled driver to manage this one, with an open golf course, through the neighboring forest, or on the paved interstate nearby. Doughnut Shop – The Doughnut Shop is a great place to find some cops, seeing how... it's a Doughnut Shop! Camden - Ocean Hills Police Station - Ocean Hills Fire Station – Another easy least-pursuit-time spot. Hit the tower and make your getaway dash to the nearby Safe House. Camden Penitentiary – What a great place to get busted. They take you out of the car and simply walk you to jail. It's shortcut could be disastrous if you don't time your NOS/Speedbreaker jumps correctly. Dunwich Village – Catch some fried fish to-go as you zip through this fishing village. It is a tricky area when in the higher heat levels. Rockport - Rockport Police Station – Located in the middle of Rockport, this PD can be a breeze if handled properly. Say hello to Sgt. Cross and your old cellmate as you fly by. Rockport Fire Station – Sharp and hard-to-handle turns is the name of the game here. Not many escape routes either. Riverfront Stadium – Here is a great place to go fast and catch big air. Keep running till they've lost you. Rockport Century Square – As Rockport's main entertainment center, it is well gaurded by regular patrols. There's no time for a movie as you speed through. ------------------------- HUD Elements - - - - - ------------------------- Mini Map – The GPS, located at the lower left corner, will show where you are and where the cops are in real-time. Units appear as colored arrows that point in the direction they are facing: Flashing Red & Blue – Police Cars Yellow – Racers White – Player. Evade Meter – On the bottom of the screen, you will see a bar graph that says "Busted" on the left and "Evade" on the right with a vertical line in the middle. This is the Evade Meter, and it tells you how close to losing the cops, or getting busted, you are. The more the line goes to the left, the closer you are to jail, the closer to the right, the more you are getting away. If the line reaches the far left, you get pulled over. If it reaches the far right, you enter Cooldown Mode. The Evade Meter also shows how many cops are after you (middle), how many you've damaged, and how many you've totaled; and if you have totaled/lost all but one car, a backup timer will begin. Heat Meter – The heat meter is the circle around the Mini Map that shows what Heat you are currently in. It will fill up while in pursuit, and if it fills all the way: higher heat level. Radar – Located at the top of the screen and under your rearview mirror (if enabled), the radar points out photo tickets and nearby cops. The arrow will be orange if it is a photo ticket, and green if it is a cop. However, if in a pursuit (and not in cooldown mode), then the radar will auto-disable. Once you break the LOS, it will auto-enable. Also, the radar will tick louder and faster the closer you are to a photo ticket or cop. Milestone Status Bar – While in a pursuit, the Leaderboard will become a Milestone Status Bar. This tells how long you have been in the pursuit, how much bounty you have achieved (minus milestone bounty, which is added after getting away), and how much more you have to do before completing a milestone. ------------------------- Breaking the LOS - - - ------------------------- Bad Boy, Bad Boy, whatcha gonna do when the lawman comin' after you... You are driving around, minding your own business, when a cop spots you. He flashes the lights and gives chase. You can't just sit there (as the game doesn't give you the ability to talk to the officer), so gun it! Soon more cops show up, then more and more! How can you ever hope to get away? First, find a Pursuit Breaker and hit it. Now: Run. Speed as fast as you can and you should shake the tag-alongs. If you can't: disable the rest of the cops. If you can't evade, then you are in Heat 6, or you have an officer on the road or a Heli in the big above that sees you. Walls, turns, road splits and slopes all break the Line Of Sight (LOS). If you need a milestone (besides the least-time one), then don't lose the cops before you finish the milestone. Say you have $188,900 Cost-To-State and you need $200,000. If you finish this pursuit and start another one, then you will start at $0 and still need $200,000. Once your Evade Meter fills up, you enter Cooldown Mode. Run, Run, Rudolph! Santa's gotta make it to town! Santa stole a Hot Rod, and now the heat is coming down... ------------------------- Pursuit Breakers - - - ------------------------- You have ten officers behind you. You need to get away in six seconds, rack up some big bounty, or get some cost-to-state. What do you do? You hit a Pursuit Breaker! Pursuit Breakers will show up on your map as red triangles and will only appear if you're near them. The PBs will come in several forms: Water and Radio Towers, Scaffolding, Gas Pumps, Boats, Billboards, Lumber/Car Trucks, and even Donuts (that'll show 'em!). You can use these on racers as well. NOTE: See Pointers for more info. ------------------------- Cooldown - - - - - ------------------------- There's no cops or choppers in sight. Your Evade Meter has turned blue. Yet you still have the KrispyKreme-rs looking for you. You are in Cooldown Mode. Now is the time to find a Hiding Spot (or find some more cops). When the blue bar fills up, you have finished the pursuit. If it goes away and the Evade Meter shows up again, they've spotted you. Drive fast or find a Hiding Spot to make the Cooldown Meter fill up faster. ------------------------- Hiding Spots - - - - - ------------------------- Hiding Spots help you cool down faster and only show up in Cooldown Mode. They look like transparent blue rings hovering on the ground (I believe that the hiding spots look better in this NFS than Carbon or Undercover). They will disappear if you are spotted. ------------------------- Pursuit Ending: Got Away ------------------------- Alright, you filled the Evade Meter. You entered Cooldown Mode. Your Cooldown Meter has filled up. Congratulations, you have successfully evaded the police. The cops (until the next pursuit) will stop chasing you. Now all the bounty you racked up in the pursuit will be added to your score, and any milestones you completed will be added as well. ------------------------- Pursuit Ending: Busted ------------------------- So they got you. Maybe they outsmarted you. Maybe they overpowered you. Maybe you weren't fast enough (no, I'm not an emotional counselor). It doesn't matter, they got you. And now you have to pay. After the cutscene (why doesn't he fight back?), you will be brought to jail. Here you have two options: One-Use Marker or paying your fines. If you use a One-Use Marker, one Marker gets deducted from your total and the pursuit never happened. If you don't have a Marker or you choose to pay, then they take some of your money, give your car an Impound Strike, and add a busted count to your Rap Sheet. Any milestones/bounty you got will be reset (you have to do them again). And if your car has all Impound Strikes used up, and you get busted again, then your car gets impounded. If it's your last/only car and you don't have the money to free it: Game Over. ------------------------- Lowering Your Heat - - ------------------------- You've gotten away, but your heat is higher than you want it to be. What can you do to change this? There are two things you can do: Drive a different car for a while, or change how your car looks (paint/vinyls/body kits/etc). I recommend driving a different car, because you may really like how your car looks and may not want to change it. ------------------------- Radio Codes - - - - - ------------------------- Here is a list of the codes heard on the Police-Band Radio and what they mean: 10-4 - Confirmed 10-6 - Backup coming from different area 10-7 - Cop KO 10-8 - Giving chase 10-10 - Negative/Cancel 10-20 - Current location 10-23 - Arrived at location 10-25 - Cop KO 10-29 - Check for warrant 10-32 - Wanted racer 10-33 - Request backup 10-34 - Request for Zulus 10-36 - Civilian wreck w/cop 10-37 - Request for tow truck 10-38 - Call ambulance 10-39 - P.I.T. 10-41 - P.I.T. on cop 10-42 - Accident 10-43 - Traffic jam 10-44 - Call for Rhinos 10-45 - Racer rams vehicle 10-50 - Hit & Run 10-59 - Herd 10-63 - 10-65 - Vehicle box (completely surrounded) 10-67 - Spike strip 10-70 - Request cleanup crew 10-71 - Helicopter 10-73 - Stationary roadblock 10-75 - Rolling block 10-83 - Lost racer, on the lookout 10-85 - Backup 10-87 - In pursuit 10-95 - Intersection 28-29 - Check wanted status Code I - Situation under control Code II - Arrive undercover ASAP

Your Rap Sheet is available on the Safe House menu after defeating Taz and
it shows the Police Department's file on what you have been doing to their
city. Part of the 100% Career/Game completion is here on the rankings menu.
This shows how you compare with the other Blacklist Racers in pursuits.
To reach that elusive 100%, here is what you need:

-------------------------
Maneuvers - - - - -
-------------------------
I will break this down into two sections: Police Maneuvers and
Your Maneuvers.
- - - - - - - - -
Police Maneuvers -
- - - - - - - - -
Stationary:
Roadblock – The police will block off the road ahead of you hoping to
immobilize you.
Spikes – In Heat 4 or higher, the tin plates will put out a spike strip.
Hitting it will result in getting busted 98% of the time. However, if a
cop hits it (in any version but PS2) they will keep going.
Moving:
Pinning – The cop(s) will push you into a wall to keep you from moving.
Rolling Block – The cops will surround you and hit their brakes,
stopping you in the process.
P.I.T. - The PIT (Precise Immobilization Tactic) is used whenever a copper
shoves into your rear wheel, sending you careening into a wall.
Rhino – These kamikazes (no, not BR #7) will ram you head on, resulting in an
immediate stop, being pushed backwards, or rolling over.
- - - - - - - - -
Your Manuvers -
- - - - - - - - -
Pinning – Push a cop into a wall or vehicle. If they try to pin you, hit NOS
and shove back. Don't be a pushover! It's shove or be shoved!
P.I.T. - Shove into a cop car's rear wheel to send them spinning. If they
do it to you, hit your NOS to get out of it.
Rhino – See Pointers Section.
Pursuit Breakers – Hit a PB to total them before they total you. Cops can hit
these too, resulting in self-totaling.
Ten Pins - When approaching a roadblock, aim for the end of the car.
This will push it out of the way. If you time it right, a chasing cop will
hit one end of the car and you will hit the other, resulting in an easy
total. Strike! Or go around the roadblock. Gutterball!
NOTE: When you have broken the LOS, the PD Radio may state that they have a
wanted racer arrested, accompanied with the name. The name is always one of
the Blacklists. It feels good to get away while Clarence Callahan (Razor)
is arrested. :-)

Here are some helpful tips that will make the difference between winning and
throwing the game away! Heed BurlyBrawler's instruction, Grasshoppa!
Tuning – Always tune your NOS for full velocity.
This will leave everyone eating your dust!
Neck to Neck – Never grind your racing opponent. This isn't Burnout or
Carbon, and when you do grind your opponent, it will slow you (and no one
else) down. The only time to grind is when you can push him into an oncoming
wall or car without also hitting it yourself.
Sharp Turns – Simple. Apply Speedbreaker, Use Handbrake, Push in the
direction you are sliding, NOS. AI opponents will slow down for turns,
but if you can powerslide, you will most always pass them (or use them to
help your wild turn!) If you time it right, you won't even need speedbreaker
when you slam into the other racer to help your turn!
Roadblocks (no spikes) – Always aim for the back end of the cop car. You may
or may not total their car, but you can get through it safely.
Roadbloack (with spikes) – Always, Always, ALWAYS use speedbreaker!
Unless you are Neo, do not attempt to pass them without speedbreaker!
Also, don't turn down the voice volume in heat 4 or 5!
The CB Radio will tell you where in the roadblock the spikes are located.
Pursuit Breakers – These handy little distractions can lose the cops or your
opponents. If you are far enough ahead (but not too far) you can hit these to
stop your rivals' cars! In heat levels 4 and 5, it is wise to use
speedbreaker while hitting a Pursuit Breaker. Because after the cutscene,
you may end up hitting a spike strip or something else that
can ruin your progress.
Tollbooth Races – If you are coming up to a tollbooth with lots of time to
spare, stop the car BEFORE reaching the booth. Pass it when you have anywhere
from ten to five seconds left. The reason why (the in-game tutorial gives you
a hint) is that the faster and sooner you blaze through the tollbooth, the
game records that, and thus, it will bump up the performance and speed of ALL
the other racers, making later races harder and harder to win.
Take a tip from a guy who beat this game FIVE times (with the first time as
hard as heaven's opposite 'cause I didn't know what to do)!
Hidden Markers – After defeating a BR, you get to choose two (out of six)
markers. Three of these will be "Hidden" with a question mark on them.
I have listed what is under these, but they don't/may not come in the order
I have placed them. The extras inside are in random positions, and as such,
are not easy to pick.
Autosave – Autosave is good, but turn it off before you face a Blacklist
Racer. When you defeat him (or her) you have a chance to get their pink
slip. Always try to get their pink slip. For instance, after defeating
Ming, if you get his Gallardo, it has performance upgrades not available
until you defeat Ronnie!
Back Button (in pursuit) – Evil Temptation given the form of help. Never,
Never, NEVER use it during a pursuit! It resets your car, and in the process,
sends your status bar to immediate BUSTED! If you're stuck, try backing up,
pushing through, or turning, but NEVER use the back button in a pursuit.
If your car flips, you will auto-reset with no penalty.
Choppers – The Eye in the Sky will be with you after you obtain heat level 4.
The only way to shake them is to wait till they run out of gas
(which they do), and then end the pursuit. It does no good to total all the
cops and have the heli still there. I have heard/read that they can hit
pursuit breakers, but I have never been able to do that. Also, the chopper
in heat 5 will come down and smash you from above. This does nothing but
block your vision and annoy.
Cars to avoid altogether – (from my Car list) #3, #10, #15, #21
The Best Cars – (from my Car list) #18, #26, #27, #28, #29, #31. But the
absolute BEST one is the main one. The one that you strive to achieve. The
one on the front cover. The one, the only, BMW M3 GTR.
Big Trucks – In Rosewood and Camden, the Big Rigs will always come in this
order: one carries lumber, the next carries freight; or vice versa. There
will never be two in a row carrying the same thing. In Rockport, it's Cars &
Freight, or vice versa. Also, the On-Disc Trailer shows a Big Rig falling
over. I have never been able to pull this off, and I haven't heard of it
being done either; so I think that was taken out. The freights are useless,
but hitting lumber trucks on the side or car carriers on the back end will
spill their cargo, making a nice roadblock.
Rhinos – When you hear a request for rhinos accepted over the Police Band,
watch the road carefully! If you see any car coming up FAST, hit speedbreaker
and swerve out of the way. For extra bounty/damage, swerve back into them
from the side as they fly past!
Speedbreaker Turns – When swerving, pull hard in the direction you want to
turn, steer the opposite way halfway through, and then use NOS to pull out
of the turn/swerve and disengage speedbreaker. Time it right and you leave
everyone in the dust. Time it wrong, and that wall you are trying to avoid...
Careful, though. I have pulled too hard a few times and ended up doing an
awesome flip that somehow catapulted me into the air and then somehow made
me lose the race...
One-Stop Shops – Always spend your money on Performance first. It does no
good to look like Vin Diesel if you stay in fourth place all the time.
Always choose your color paint BEFORE choosing Body Kits, etc. This is
because you may not like that part with the paint, thus having to buy ANOTHER
part that cost an EXTRA $7,500! When selling a car, always take it by the
shop first. You can trade in the Parts (set everything to stock) for an
extra $5,000 - $10,000. Note that Performance and Visuals are
non-refundable. Also, big Body Kits may look good, but they weigh the car
down tremendously. I have run a race with a big car, got last place, went to
the shop, got a smaller body, same race, first place.

DISCLAIMER - - -
I will not attempt a full walkthrough here, as the traffic and cops are
random, and I can't go through here saying left, right, straight,
shortcut, left... and so on.
I will, however, be able to give markers and races list, in-game
tips, etc. And I will have spoilers. It's inevitable, and it's the price you
pay for reading this. Okay, now that I've had my little disclaimer, on to
the good stuff.
----------------------
Prologue -
----------------------
The Prologue is simply the get-used-to-the-game section.
It cannot be skipped, as you need the dough you get here later in the game.
PRESENT DAY... CHALLENGING BLACKLIST RACER #15...
You are racing against Razor for this one. If you lose the race, you lose
your car (it's the blacklist way). The cutscene will race the first part,
but after the cop hits the car on the exit, get ready to race. Hold the
throttle (why would you ever let go?) and NOS. When you make the turn, Mia
will call you, telling you that your car has an oil leak. The screen fades...
SIX DAYS AGO... ENTERING ROCKPORT CITY...
After a nice bird's-eye view of Rockport, you (in the cutscene) race against
Mia. Like a traitor, she parks you in front of a Rockport PD Corvette and
takes off. Who gets out of the car, but... Sgt. Cross! He walks over, gives
a speech about street racing, and is about to scrap your car (which is
illegal, by the way. Property Rights? Innocent until proven guilty? HELLO?!?)
when a call comes over the radio about a real street race going on somewhere
else. This makes Cross cross, so he keys your car and drives away.
FOUR DAYS AGO... CHALLENGING RONNIE...
Watch the next cutscene, which introduces you to Ronnie, then race against
Mr. McCrea. He has a much better looking car than when he's a Blacklist
member. Watch out for the sharp turn near the beginning, and make sure to
use your NOS. An amazingly easy race with a $10,000 reward.
FOUR DAYS AGO... CHALLENGING BULL...
You now meet Razor, Mia, and Bull. Razor's mad about Ronnie's loss to you, so
he makes Bull race you. Bull drives the same car that he does as a BR. A new
twist is added: In-Race Pursuit. Bull is another easy race with another
ten grand.
TWO DAYS AGO...BUILDING REPUTATION, WINNING RACES...
After the cutscene (which has a NFS: Underground reference), you start a
two-lap circuit with Rog and two other racers. Winning this adds yet another
ten Grand to your Grand total (yes, it's a pun). After the race, you make an
ally with Rog, who sets up Blacklist Races and gives you info. And you meet
up with Razor, who wants you to race him so he can take your car. Although
he's like the main villain (and you aren't, you lawbreaker you?)
he's kinda cool... for a jerk.
PRESENT DAY... CHALLENGING BLACKLIST RACER #15...
Same set-up as the beginning, except for a quick trip into dreamland. Instead
of the screen fading to black, your car makes a horrible sound and stops.
Razor takes your car, takes your girl, and then makes you look like an idiot.
The cops show up and arrest you, standing there with no car, while all the
racers with cars drive off. Sgt. Cross doesn't mind the other racers, just as
long as he gets you. What a mean, dirty, bad cop. I oughtta report him...
SOME TIME LATER...
After some time in the brink, Mia comes and gets you out. She explains that
it was a set-up. Razor messed with your car, caused the leak, and made you
lose the race. She puts you out in front of the Rosewood Car Lot and the
real game begins.
Razor took your car, so now you have get a new car. If you want the best
top speed but the worst handling, choose the Cobalt. If you want a decent
car, choose the Punto. I always choose the Lexus (I've tried the other two
and they weren't as good). The Volkswagen Golf GTI is unlocked as well,
but you can't buy it yet. In the GameCube/Xbox/PS2/PC versions, you could buy
it if you had a save file of NFS: Underground 2, but they took that out of
the 360 & PS3. After you buy a car, Mia will direct you to the Safe House.
For a special secret, ride around while avoiding the Safe House. Mia will
call you again telling you to hurry up. Once you get to the Safe House
(what a dump, why couldn't it be like the Fast and the Furious or Driver3
Safe Houses?), Mia will tell you that Razor took your car and is now
Blacklist Racer Numero Uno (or Ichi Ban, for my Asian friends) because of
it.
You have a lot of work to do, so let's get started.

Blacklist Racer #15: Ho Suen "Sonny

Car: Volkswagen Golf GTI

Upgrade your engine before racing Sonny. Don't worry about styling the car,
as you are a nobody (that is about to become a somebody) and you may get
Sonny's car (which is much better than yours). There are two races to
complete and both are circuits. Also, If you complete part of a Blacklist
Duel and you decide to quit before defeating that Blacklist Racer, you will
have to redo any races that you already completed during the face-off.

Your recent successes has attracted the attention of the Rockport PD, and
they have created a file for you. Mia stops by and gives you an access port
to the Police Database, which can now be accessed from the Safe House.
If you nabbed Taz's car, keep it as a backup or scrap it for cash. Don't buy
a car just yet, as Vic's ride is a Supra (like the Fast and the Furious) and
defeating Vic unlocks some faster cars.

Razor is defeated. You are victorious. How does it feel? Go ahead, sing "We
Are The Champions." I'll wait... um, no we can't. After Razor lost his ride
to you (which was yours anyway), the cops show up and arrest every Blacklist
Racer but you, as you are making a getaway in your old BMW (funny how you
had time to change the license plate from RAZOR to NFSMW). And wait, Mia's
a COP?!? Whoa, uncool! No wonder she parked you in front of Cross! But then
again, her allegiance was with you: Who got you out of the slammer? Who gave
you the Safe Houses? And who threw you the keys and stalled Cross as you made
dust? What a messed-up situation...
But there's no time to discuss this issue, as our good friend the Sgt. is
after you... along with EVERY SINGLE POLICE OFFICER IN THE STATE!
AAAAAUUUUUGGHH! And they're ALL driving black Corvettes and Heavy SUV's!
Double AAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!! RUN! RUN! RUN! Try to escape! Oh
wait, this is Heat 6.....THERE IS NO ESCAPE!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUGGGGHHHH!
Head to the Petersburg Interstate and drive, drive, drive, AND DON'T STOP FOR
ANY REASON!!! Any slowing down/stopping will result in GETTING ARRESTED!
Ignore Cross' message, as giving yourself up means adding a 1-Up Busted to
your total on the Rap Sheet, and you'll have to start the pursuit again.
At five minutes on the dot, just when you think you're losing consciousness,
Mia will call. Even though she's working for the cops, she has a soft spot
for you. Oh, how sweet. She's telling you that she cares about you at the
exact second you get slammed by a Rhino... but to prove herself to you,
she gives you a way out. Head for the marker on your map (it's the Hickley
Exit on the Petersburg), get on the abandoned road (which I would like
full access to from here on, but it isn't available) and hit your NOS
as you get to the bridge. You will jump over the broken bridge, a few cops
will fall into the river underneath, and Cross will just sit there. You take
control of your car for a few seconds and then the credits roll. You can
choose to skip this (Press A) or watch them. Either way, after the credits
Cross issues a National Warrant for your arrest.

The Challenge Series is an extra way to dominate the Rosewood, Camden and
Rockport areas. They are Tollbooths and Pursuits that you did in Career,
the only difference being they are outside of Career Mode, you don't pick
the car or upgrades, and you don't pay if you get busted. In NFS Carbon,
you get lots of rewards for completion. Here, there are only three rewards:
Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG, Porsche 911 GT2, & Junkman Parts. Challenges 40-50
are very enjoyable, as you get to drive civilian or police cars.
Here is what you'll be up against:

My Cars
-------------
The My Cars area is one of the best parts of the game. It is basically a
"try before you buy" that allows you to choose a car, style it how you
want, upgrade it how you want, and all for free! You are allowed up to
10 cars in the My Cars page, so leave a space or two for a friend to
create their favorites. Cars you no longer want may be removed (without
any cash back, because you didn't spend anything) to make room for
ones you do want. Upgrades are only available if they have been unlocked
in Career Mode. A special upgrade is available here: Junkman Parts. You
can also come back and change/upgrade your car anytime you want.
Also, the My Cars can be used in Quick Race and Online Matches.
-------------
Quick Race
-------------
Suppose something with me. Suppose you've defeated three Blacklist Racers
while your friend just sits there and watches. You start to take on
another when, in the middle of the day, your friend sighs, then snores.
You realize that you forgot he was there. You realize that he has been
bored to tears by just sitting there. And you realize that this could
have all been avoided if you had thought of one thing: Quick Race. Quick
Race comes with three choices: Quick Play, Custom Race, and Split Screen.
Quick Play automatically chooses a race, a random car, and random upgrades
and difficulty. Don't like the selection? Press Y. Custom Race allows you
to choose what race(s), cars, laps, traffic conditions, and difficulty you
want. Split Screen is Custom Race with your snoozing friend over there
drooling on the couch.
-------------
Xbox Live
-------------
Alright. You've got all the achievements. You are 100% complete. There is
nothing left to conquer... or is there? To play online, here is what you
need: an Xbox Live Profile, an Xbox Live Gold Membership, and a
NeedForSpeed.com account. (NOTE: Getting a NeedForSpeed.com profile and
signing onto it with your Xbox will get you an achievement for Carbon and
Undercover.) There are several things to do online. Jump into an immediate
race (ranked or unranked) with Quick Match, choose a match of your liking
with Custom Match, or create your own tournament with Create Match.
You can also select your car, view your personal stats, and get the latest
NFS News. Think you're the best? Go online and find out.
NOTE: Online matches can have up to four racers, while offline
(Quick Race) can only have two.

From: Rog
Subject: Working your way up the Blacklist.
Get to the top of the Blacklist & take Razor down. The Blacklist is reached
from your Safe house & your in-game engage system. It keeps track of your
progress & what's needed to challenge a rival. How?
RACES - 2 ways: enter by driving to the flag icons on the map and use the
engage mechanic OR bring up the Blacklist, enter the Races page & select a
race. Either way, you're good to go.
MILESTONES - Reach Blacklist rival will make you prove you can handle the
heat before they race you. View the milestones by brining up the Blacklist &
entering the Milestones page.
BOUNTY - Your bounty level indicates how wanted you are by the police, and
affects your notoriety with Blacklist members. It increases by completing
milestones, for every second you are in a pursuit - higher heat levels
increase it more quickly - and if you happen to immobilize any police vehicle
during a pursuit. Your bounty only increases if you get away from the police.
You can start a pursuit by accessing the Bounty page on the Blacklist.

From: Mia
Subject: Basic rules for evading the police.
The Rockport police are always looking for street racers. Here's some advice:
DISTANCE - to escape, get some distance between you & the police. Until
you're out of their sight, you can't get away. Take a route where you can
make some quick moves & use traffic to your advantages to lose the police.
Don't assume you can outrun them on the highways.
HIDING - once you're out of sight, the police will be looking for you. Find a
hiding spot or watch your radar & stay away from the police for a while.
Hiding spots appear as blue circles on your minimap.
PURSUIT BREAKERS - if the police are hot on your tail, look for the pursuit
breakers that can quickly lose the police. Pursuit breakers appear as
triangles on your minimap.
BACKUP - whenever the cops following you are getting low on numbers, they'll
call for backup. Make sure you get out of sight before the backup arrives or
you'll have more police to deal with. You can see the backup timer on the
pursuit bar.

Subject: The regs for racing the Blacklist members.
Listen closely 'cause I'm only goin' over this once.
Whenever you go up against a ranked racer, the pink slips go up for grabs.
Now if you win, you get to choose 2 markers. Those markers represent anything
from parts to favors to get you outta trouble with the cops. Included
somewhere in those markers in the pink slip. You just gotta get lucky and
pick the right one.
Simple, right? We'll see.

Now that you've beat Sonny, the local shops are gonna help you out with
parts and upgrades to your ride. There'll be new cars to buy too, if you're
interested.
Remember to choose smart 'cause cash ain't always easy to earn. Plan out
which cars you want and what upgrades you're gonna make. Don't assume you
can buy everything or that drivin' a stock car will get you to the top.

more bounty with the police.

Hey.
When you're being chased by the 5-0, take a look at your map, you'll see a
bunch of icons. These are structures you can use to shake the cops off your
back. You just smash into them - instant Pursuit Breaker moment. If the cops
aren't damaged, they'll probably stop to provide assistance.

Subject: Some info you might need.
Nice run.
Alright, here's the deal. Razor's left the borough. He's racin' in Rockport.
To get to him, you've gotta to through the ranks of the Blacklist and clean
out each area. There's three areas known as boroughs. This here is Rosewood.
Camden Beach is on the coast and Rockport is right after it.
Unless you have enough rep', you can't get into the next level of racin'. To
do that, you've got to win. There's no second place here. Just keep plowin'
through your objectives until you can challenge a Blacklist racer.
I'll feed you more info as I dig it up. Later.

things are thrown out there by Blacklist racers. They're challenges to

get your name out there, this is the way to do it.
The more pursuit milestones you beat, the more notorious you'll become

3. Voice Message
From: Rog
Subject: Get more than one car.
The police track your car. To make it to the top of the Blacklist you gotta
have a bunch of cars to drive.
When the hear on one car is gettin' high, park it. As you win races and
evade the cops with another ride, the parked car will lose heat.
Backup cars are also cool to have in case your favorite ride gets impounded.
If you don't have a car to drive -- it's game over.
You need to plan what cars you want and which cars you're gonna upgrade, or
else you'll run out of money. Remember, if you're really tight for cash you
can always sell one of your cars.

3. Text Message
From: Rog
Subject: Use pursuit breakers wisely.
By now I'm thinkin' you're using the Pursuit Breakers to ditch the cops.
Here's the deal on gettin' the most outta the Pursuit Breakers.
Don't use 'em if you don't need to. You might get a few laughs by makin' the
donut fall down, but save it for when the cops are on your tail and you need
some breathing room, or when you're tryin' to lose the last one before
backup arrives.
Learn where the police are in the world and plan your route so that you
drive by as many of 'em as possible. When you get to the Pursuit Breaker
make sure you got a lot of cops close by you. Makes no sense if they're way
behind or in front of you. If you time it right you can get 'em all with one
Pursuit Breaker.

The goal is to get the highest total speed recorded through a series of
speedtraps. You need to plan your routes to make sure you're at maximum
speed when you drive past 'em. Some of the traps are gonna be at the end of
a corner -- slow down so you don't hit the walls and then hit the gas
quickly.
Your radar detector will warn you about any upcoming speedtraps. Wen it goes
off, it's usually a good time to use your nitrous for that extra boost of
speed.

Subject: Getting your heat down.
Pay attention to the heat of the car you're drivin', each car you own has
its own heat level. The best way to keep the cops off your back is to make
sure you don't let your heat get too high for the car you're drivin'. Each
time your heat moves up a level, police tactics and vehicles step-up too.
You can cool your ride's heat by driving a different car and by winning
races or evading pursuits. If you wanna cool-it-down faster, change it's
looks -- different paint, body kits, spoilers, etc. Not all changes make the
same difference, but they all help.
Remember, if you're gonna lower the heat of a car then make sure you drop
it down a level for the best results against the cops.

Subject: Tip on roadblocks.
Once your heat gets high enough the police starts blocking the roads to try
and stop you. Each roadblock will have its weak point. Some of the roadblocks
won't cover the entire road, so the best way to go around the car. For the
roadblocks that have the road covered, look for the sawhorses, they're
usually a weak spot.
If you come 'round a corner and find a roadblock, don't forget to use
Speedbreaker to get a little extra time to maneuver before hittin' the
block. Aim for the cars in the back half, they're lighter weight and provide
a better chance of escape.
At the higher heat levels watch out for spike strips. If it looks like
there's no car blocking part of the road take a close look. You might be
getting tricked into driving over a spike strip which generally ends with
you getting busted. The cops call out the location of the spike strips to
make sure the other cops don't hit 'em, so keep your eyes and ears open.

If you're running a little low on cash, you can always go back to races you
didn't complete when you were working your way up the Blacklist. Bring up
the Blacklist, select on of the defeated rivals, go to the Races page and
finish off any races you haven't completed. You can also re-enter races
that you've already won to earn more money.
Your other option is to sell one of your cars. It's a quick way to get some
money, but remember, those local car dealers are only gonna give you half
the original stock price for your car. Any money you spent tuning it will be
gone. If you decide to sell one of your cars, go to the Safe House car
select screen, select the car and you can sell it there.

Subject: Performance tuning might help.
You can't always run the same setup for every race if you're lookin' to
edge ahead of the competition. Think about tuning the characteristics of
your car to get the right balance for a specific race or race type.
Pay attention to your gear ratios. If you're on a tight track with lots of
corners, having more acceleration might pay off. If you're ripping up the
highways you might want to slide the performance over for more top speed.
There are lots of options, so don't forget to give 'em a try. Making a smart
tuning choice might make the different between winning and coming in second.
You can find the performance tuning in the pause menu.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Where is everything? - Sometimes when loading a pursuit from the Safe House,
you will see your car and the police car. Nothing else will load for the next
few seconds.
Razor Race-Off Police Glitch – In the second time around against Razor in the
prologue, you are supposed to lose the cops on the exit ramp. If going fast
enough, there will be a cop in front of you. You will catch a glimpse (just a
glimpse) of him speeding away (faster than possible for Heat 1) as you turn
into the Point Camden Exit.
Out of Bounds – In one race in Rockport, I was taking a sharp turn when a
truck pushed me into the yellow boundary. The physics engine overrode the
boundary and pushed me out of the race parameters. Needless to say, I had
to restart the race.
Living in a dreamworld, Neo – If you have set the Aerodynamics to very
lightweight, and you fly up the Riverfront Stadium ramp, before you land
you will see (past the ramp wall) that the buildings are unfinished and
that there is no ground but only blackness.
A civilian's civic duty – Sometimes the cops will have civilian cars as
part of their roadblocks.
Grounded – This glitch occurs rarely, but it does occur. Sometimes a
Helicopter will be part of a roadblock, and I have read one report of
the BK Blimp being part as well (this is unverified, but if I could get
verification, thanx).
I know Car-Fu! - When going VERY fast (170-220) and you make a sharp
powerslide turn (pull hard in the direction you want to go, then pull hard in
the opposite way, then NOS), you can sometimes get your car to flip. When this
happens, your car does a side-roll and flies straight up (vertically)! The only
real use for this is if you happen to land on a cop car or another racer.
Under the Sea – There are some reports that cop cars and big rigs can push you
past the boundaries of the world and send you into the ocean. Once you fall
in, you fall into blackness forever and ever and ever amen.
Cutscene Clips – The In-Game trailer shows a warehouse, which does not exist.
The cutscene that has you racing Mia shows the both of you doing an air jump
in the Point Camden Shipyard, landing, and suddenly you're in Little Italy.
But.... there's no shortcut from the Shipyard to Little Italy...
Also, after defeating Ronnie in the prologue, he will say that you shadowed
him. This is a glitch if you leave him at the starting line.
Wacky Water Works, WonderMan! - This one I got on the GameFAQs Message Board:
Here's a really weird one that happened to me quite a while ago.
I started a chase at the second option in the Bounty menu (the fire hall).
I was at heat level three, and driving somewhat slowly. As I drove through
the water tower pursuit breaker, my car slowed down even more. The tower
fell down on my car, leaving my car trapped inside with no escape route.
Even worse, I noticed that the Cop following me did not get immobilized.
Eventually the cops battered themselves to death trying to get inside to
find me. Then I entered cool down mode, and evaded.
The best 10 seconds I have ever played – Right after winning a race that
finished on the road between Hwy 201 and the Petersburg, I parked the car.
I was about to jump to my Safe House when two big rigs suddenly appeared.
They both swerved, and almost toppled, and then they came straight at me
sideways. Both of them passed over me without hitting me! It was... amazing!
Dog treeing a Cat – I haven't done this because I think it is cheating:
In a pursuit, go to Rosewood Central and go up the ramp. To hide from the
cops, go to the middle of the top without breaking the glass. To rack up
a easy score, break the glass and go down to the end of the ramp and sit
there. The cops cannot get at you, and as such you will not be busted.
Hulk SMASH! - If you hit a Rhino head-on while going VERY fast (190-220 MPH),
you will keep going and the Rhino will lean backwards, landing on it's roof.
Or they will ACTUALLY go flying! Not sure if this is a glitch, but I didn't
know where else to put it.

Questions
--------------
Well, I hope I've been helpful. And, perhaps, you can help me! I have
a few questions, so please e-mail me if you have the answers.
1.Spiderman 2 (GC) – Are there any extra costumes available? There is so
much evidence for it, but I never found them.
Also, what is the mysterious Governor's Island?
2.Burnout Paradise OST: Ozone & Shine (Burnout 3) – Does anybody know where
you can get these songs?
3.Marvel: Ultimate Alliance OST – Anybody know where that is either?
4.Assassin's Creed – What do the Japanese blood glyphs translate to?
5.Need For Speed: Most Wanted (360) – Has anyone found the warehouse at
the end of the on-disc trailer? Or found a way to topple the Big Rigs?
6.Need For Speed: Undercover (360) – Anyone know a way to choose what songs
you do and don't want?
7.Original Xbox Games – Anyone know why they stopped being sold while
GameCube and GBA Games are still being sold?
8.Does ANYONE have a copy of an Xbox 360 Iron Man Game Save??? I have
searched the ENTIRE internet for one, but without success.
9.Assassin's Creed - Has anyone ever found a way to reach the tops of the
City Walls of any city?
10.Assassin's Creed II - Does anyone know where one can get the E3 Demo?
(Not the video, the demo)

You have a question about a game that I have played. I've played Xbox,
360, DS, GBC, GBA, PC, and GC.
NOTE: If I have not played that game, I will tell you, then provide
a link to a GameFAQs Guide [if available].
You want to put one of my guides on your website. (Send me a link to your

I have made an error, and you would like me to correct it.

YoU tYpE lIkE a RaNsOm NoTe.
u yoose vuary bat tiepeeng.
the email is all lower case like the shift key doesn't work.
YOU SHOUT AT ME THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE EMAIL!!!
You swear in the e-mail. I will NOT respond. Also, women are
77% less likely to date a swearer, so it isn't good to do
anyway.
You talk about things that have nothing to do with gaming. "Hey dude,
I just went surfing this afternoon! I was wearing my Oakley sunglasses
and met this hot..." Don't do that to me.
Your e-mail comes with an attachment.
You say "Like, dude! Can I use your awesome guide?" but don't give a
website link. Without a LEGITIMATE website link, I cannot consider
allowing you to use my guides.
You say stuff like "Man, I WASTED my money on this junk game! Why did I
even get it in the first place? Huh? Huh?" It's not my fault if you didn't
like it, so don't come bawling to me. And no, I didn't make you buy it.
You want to say stuff like "BurlyBrawler, you're an idiot, your guide
stinks, and I hate you!" I didn't deserve that, and you just need to
cuddle up and cry with the TEDDY BEAR that YOU undoubtedly still have! :-P
You ask me for money. "BurlyBrawler, I know it is within your heart to
donate to the My Pocket Foundation, so would you please..." No, I won't.
I'll treat your e-mail like the beggars in Assassin's Creed. "No, you don't
understand! I'm poor, and sick, and hungry!" Your e-mail just got tossed.
You want to meet up somewhere. I'm not interested. "Dude, I'm in town!
Let's meet up!" What a simple way for a pervert like you to get my location.
Nope, sorry. Not gonna fall for it.
You want my Xbox Friend Code. I don't have one, anyway. I don't even have
Xbox Gold...
You want me to give you a copy of a game. I'm not GameStop, and I probably
wouldn't have the game anyway.
You want my real name. You shall never know it! never! Never! NEVER!
You want to know the meaning of life.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
You will be reported if:
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
You harrass me in any way.
You send me obscene or pornographic material.
You continously send e-mails that have nothing to do with gaming.
You send me spam.
You send me a virus or worm.
You use my guide without permission.

You, for reading this guide. If you like this FAQ (and are on GameFAQs), go
to the top of the page and recommend it! You don't even need to sign in to
do it!
Electronic Arts, for their creation of NFS, LOTR, and other awesome
series.
Microsoft, for creating an Xbox 360.

Bill Gates (founder of Microsoft), for removing the ability to play
original Xbox games on your 360.
GameStop, for sorry trade-in rates and not-so-special offers.

Reality. Wouldn't it be fun to do all this in real life?
EA TRAX, for saying they have the soundtrax when they don't, and for not
being able to choose songs in NFS: Undercover!
