Introduction/About This Guide ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello everyone and welcome to my achievement guide for "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" on the Xbox 360. This marks FAQ number two for me; I did a similar guide for "Nicktoons MLB" last year around this time. Here's the address if you want to check that one out. It's another good game for achievement hunters. http://www.gamefaqs.com/xbox360/629344-nicktoons-mlb/faqs/67015 That said, if you have any questions about this guide or you want to tell me how awesome I am, you can e-mail me--I'll post a contact address at the end of this guide. If you do e-mail, just make sure you title it "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" or something like that; otherwise I'll probably delete it. The purpose of this guide is to aid gamers in getting all of the achievements for "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" in a straightforward and timely fashion. Honestly they're all pretty easy to get if you put in the hours, but I'll try to provide some specific guidance for each one based on my own experiences. The game has 36 total achievements (all offline) worth 1000 points. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Getting Started ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There's really not a whole lot of prep involved in going on an achievement run here; Just dive right in. "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" is your typical hack- and-slash button-masher in the spirit of the old-timey classics like "Golden Axe" for Sega Genesis, so it doesn't take a whole lot of thought. It's a pretty easy game overall, which makes it perfect for a younger gamer who doesn't quite have his or her fine motor functions down just yet. As you're playing through the storyline, it's probably best to choose one turtle and stick with him throughout the game. That way you'll be able to get familiar with his attacks and recognize the good situations to pull out your special moves. You should probably do the same when it comes to upgrading too: Just stick with one turtle, at least initially. Don't worry; You'll get more than enough Energy Shards to upgrade all four. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Achievements and Strategies ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. "Ooo, aren't you talented?" --- Finished the first level. Advice: This is is part of the story so you can't miss it. Just play through the first level. 2. "Tanks for Nothin'!" --- Defeated the Kraang Tank. Advice: This is part of the story so you can't miss it. The Kraang tank comes in at the end of level 1-2. Throw enemies at it (stagger them with "X" attacks, then throw with "Y" when the icon displays over their heads. Point the left stick at the tank when you're throwing). Three hits (if I remember right) and it's gone. 3. "Filet o' Fishface" --- Defeated Fishface. Advice: This is part of the story so you can't miss it. Fishface is at the end of level 1-3. He'll swim around you for a while then jump onto the dock. That's when you can hit him. He's not too tough. 4. "That's a Big Mouser" --- Beat the Mega Mouser! Advice: This is part of the story so you can't miss it. Mega Mouser is in level 2-2. Wipe out all the mini-mousers (or try to, anyway) before you start wailing on it. 5. "Dexter Blockhead" --- Defeated Baxter Stockman. Advice: This is part of the story so you can't miss it. Baxter is in level 2-3 and can be a little tricky at first. Don't even bother hitting him until he drops boulders from the ceiling and shoots his laser beam. When that's finished you can run up and hit him. Hide behind the rocks to avoid getting hit by the actual laser. 6. "Raising Shell!" --- Cleared out the Shallraiser. Advice: This is part of the story so you can't miss it. Level 3-1 is just a bunch of fighting on top of the Shellraiser. Defeat all the enemies to move on. 7. "Curbed the Dog" --- Defeated Dogpound. Advice: This is part of the story so you can't miss it. Dogpound is the boss of level 3-3. To beat him, wait for him to jump and punch the ground with his fist. He'll get stuck for a few seconds, which is when you can run up and slash at him. 8. "Squishy Brain Freaks" --- Cleared out the Kraang Warehouse. Advice: This is part of the story so you can't miss it. You'll get it by just beating the level. 9. "What Was THAT?!" --- Defeated Justin the Supermutant! Advice: This is part of the story so you can't miss it. He's in level 4-3. Just wait for him to raise his tentacles up to where you're at, then hit them with your weapon. In the meantime you can take care of the enemies that spawn. 10. "Clearin' the Cookies" --- Cleared out the Fortune Cookie Factory! Advice: This is part of the story so you can't miss it. You'll get it by just beating the level (5-3; Shredder's Lair). 11. "Shredded!" --- Defeated Shredder! Advice: This fight can get a little tough at times, especially if you're playing solo, but it's doable. In between waves of enemies, Shredder will jump down off his throne and attack you. If you don't move out of the way, he'll grab your turtle from behind and cost you some life. What's worse, the AI turtles just kind of stand there while this is happening and don't even bother to help. Those jerks. Anyway, the best course of action here is to jump out of the way as Shredder is coming down. He'll punch the ground (kind of like Dogpound) and stand still for a moment afterward. This is the time to strike, but don't bother trying to hit him more than once before he jumps again. It'll likely just leave you vulnerable. Stick with the strategy and he'll go down. 12. "Half Full" --- Found 50% of the Mutagen Canisters! 13. "Mutagen Maestro" --- Found 100% of the Mutagen Canisters! Advice: These two achievements are the same so I just stuck them together. Mutagen Canisters are those green scroll-looking thingies hidden throughout the levels. You'll know when one is close by because you'll hear a sound kind of like a far-off airplane...you know, just how you'd expect a Mutagen Canister to sound. There are a total of 33 canisters in the game, and most are pretty simple to find. As you're going through the levels, just make sure you explore every avenue and search behind every object. Finding secrets (which I'll get to in a second) will get some of them as well. Keep an ear out for the humming noise and you'll be fine. This means you'll have to keep the volume up on your TV, which is a bummer because the Kraang's sayings get really annoying after about two minutes of playing. If for some reason there's one you can't find out there, send me an e-mail and I'll try to help out. There are also videos on YouTube that show them all. 14. "On the Right Path" --- Found your first secret! 15. "Sorta Master of Secrets" --- Discovered 50% of the secrets! 16. "Master of Secrets" --- Discovered 100% of the secrets! Advice: These three achievements are the same so I just stuck them together. You'll find secrets by locating hidden switches during the game. When you get close to one, Leo (or whoever) will say, "Scanner Alert!" or something like that, which lets you know you're in the general area. move around a little more and you'll get a button prompt at the bottom of the screen ("RT"). Hit the button and you'll go into a little mini-game of sorts. What you'll see is a target, and you'll have to hover it over the switch and press "RT." In the later levels, there are obstacles you have to navigate the scanner around to get to the switch, but it's not too bad with a little patience. In order to find them all, make sure you search every area of each level that has one. Finish fighting before you start looking around, also. Check YouTube for a video or e-mail me if you can't find one. 17. "Leo's Sweet Moves" --- All combo attacks purchased for Leo. 18. "Don's Got the Touch" --- All combo attacks purchased for Donnie. 19. "Raph's a Beast!" --- All combo attacks purchased for Raph. 20. "Mikey's Magic" --- All combo attacks purchased for Mikey. Advice: These four achievements are the same so I just stuck them together. In the Upgrade menu (which you can get to by pressing "X" between levels or from the main menu), there are two combo attacks you can buy with energy shards for each turtle. You'll have to spend 7,000 in shards to buy both, so you'll need a total of 28,000 for all eight. Through the course of the game, Survival Mode and Time Attack, you'll get plenty of shards to buy whatever you want. Still, if you feel like farming them you can play Survival Mode. If you just want to get the achievements without saving up, buy both combos for one turtle, then when that achievement pops, don't press anything else (or it will autosave) and go back to the Xbox menu. When you load the game back up, you'll have your shards back and you can buy the combos for a different turtle. 21. "Awesome Sauce!" --- Leo is upgraded to the max! 22. "Turtley Cool!" --- Donnie is upgraded to the max! 23. "Cowabunga!" --- Raph is upgraded to the max! 24. "Booyakasha!" --- Mikey is upgraded to the max! Advice: These four achievements are the same so I just stuck them together. In the Upgrade menu, (which you can get to by pressing "X" between levels or from the main menu), there are nine upgrades you can buy for each turtle. To purchase all of them, you'll first need to unlock them by playing the main storyline, then buy them with energy shards. It'll take about 73,000 shards for each turtle to get them all. Through the course of the game, Survival Mode and Time Attack, you'll get plenty of shards to buy whatever you want. Still, if you feel like farming them you can play Survival Mode. If you just want to get the achievements without saving up, buy all the upgrades for one turtle, then when that achievement pops, don't press anything else (or it will autosave) and go back to the Xbox menu. When you load the game back up, you'll have your shards back and you can buy the upgrades for a different turtle. 25. "Hero in a Half Shell!" --- Reached wave 10 in Survival Mode! 26. "Turtle Power!" --- Beat Wave 35 in Survival Mode! Advice: These two achievements are the same so I just stuck them together. After you collect 18 Mutagen Canisters, you'll unlock Survival Mode. It's basically just a mini-game that dumps a bunch of enemies on you to see how long you can, you know, survive. It's under the "Extras" tab of the main menu. Getting to wave 10 is really no problem at all, but 35 can get rather hairy. You'll definitely want to have a fully-upgraded turtle at your disposal, since the AI won't be much help. Make your Wave 35 run on the level 1-3 Fishface map. It seems to be the easiest, as the enemies will all be clustered together on a raft. It won't get too tough until around Wave 30 or so, when there are tons of relatively hard enemies surrounding you at any given time. Keep an eye on your turtle throughout, as it's easy to lose track of him in all the chaos. I used Leo to get through it; He's got a nice AOE special move that will wipe out a ton of enemies if you get surrounded. Take out any shooting enemies first (bomb-tossers or laser-shooters) and be sure to jump out of the way of an opponent's special attack (they'll flash red before doing it) and you should be fine. 27. "Time for Pizza!" --- Completed Environment 1 in Time Attack! 28. "Stoppin' the Clock!" --- Completed Environment 2 in Time Attack! 29. "Pride of Splinter!" --- Completed Environment 3 in Time Attack! 30. "Good Timing!" --- Completed Environment 4 in Time Attack! 31. "Perfect Timing!" --- Completed Environment 5 in Time Attack! Advice: These five achievements are the same so I just stuck them together. Once you collect 11 Mutagen Canisters and finish the main story of the game, you'll have access to all the Time Attack levels and can go after these. Basically all you do is finish each level as fast as you can. Yes, that means you have to play through the whole game again. Blah. It's not as tough as it sounds; They're pretty lenient on time limits here. Just don't bother yourself going after shards, secrets or whatever; Concentrate on killing enemies and moving on. It's not too difficult, just time-consuming. 32. "In Your Face!" Threw 10 enemies at the screen. Advice: You'll probably do this by accident just playing through the game, but I'll tell you how it's done just in case. Beat on an enemy with your regular "X" attacks, then when he's dazed and the yellow icon appears over his head, walk up to him and press "Y" while holding the left stick downward. Your turtle will throw the enemy toward the screen and he'll smack into it and slide down. It's funny the first time, but it gets annoying when you're trying to see what you're doing. Do that 10 times and you're good to go. 33. "Snag 'Em and Bag 'Em" --- Trapped 10 enemies in Containers! Advice: Every so often, you'll see a container with an arrow pointing down into it. This means you can throw an enemy in there. To do it, beat up your enemy with "X," then when he's dazed and the icon appears over his head, press "Y" to throw him. Point your left stick in the direction of the container and the turtle should toss him in there. Do that 10 times and you're good to go. 34. "Ninja Aim Yo!" --- Destroyed 10 objects by thrown enemies! Advice: This is pretty much the same as the last two achievements. Resist the urge to break the objects you come across, and instead daze an enemy with "X" button attacks and throw him with "Y" when the icon appears. Aim the left stick in the direction of any breakable objects to smash them with your thrown enemy. Do that 10 times and you're good to go. 35. "Need Bigger Pockets" --- Had 10,000 Energy Shards available to spend. Advice: You won't even have to try for this one. All you have to do is collect 10,000 worth of Energy Shards. You'll get it in the first level. 36. "I Like Breakin' Stuff" --- Destroyed 100 objects. Advice: You won't have to try for this one too hard, either. Just break things (including crates, vents, payphones, etc.) with your "X" attacks. Do it to 100 objects and you're good to go. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Conclusion ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pretty easy, huh? "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" is a good title for farming Gamerscore, as it doesn't take much more than one session to get all 1000 points. Sure, it's not the most entertaining or challenging game in the world, but it does the job considering the fact that it's made for little kids who just like to mash buttons and hear Turtles talk about pizza. My gripes about the AI and the annoying voicing on the Kraang aside, I had fun playing it, which is really all you can ask from a farming experience. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5.
