I decided to make a happy wars FAQ because I noticed the lack of one on the site, so my FAQ making began. Please enjoy, and I hope this helps you to prosper in the world of Happy Wars! If you have any questions or comments, E-mail me at Gamefaqs1@outlook.com (yes, the G is capitalized.) B.*Version History* Version 1.0- first edition of the guide. Put all of the basic things about happy wars in. C.*Game Overview* Happy Wars is a free game made by Toylogic Inc. and Microsoft. Although the game does not cost any money, you can buy special "tickets" that will give you access to the more desirable items. Since the game is free, there are many people who play happy wars. This would probably be a great game to get started on Xbox Live with. The basic goal of the game is to destroy the other team's "big tower". You can accomplish this by breaching the enemy's castle and hammering their tower down. Keep in mind that you cannot re-build your big tower. Along the way to the enemy's castle, there are usually three checkpoints that, if captured, will allow you team to spawn their. You can "capture" a checkpoint by building it up. You can also take enemy checkpoints this way. This is the entire basis for happy wars, and even though it is easy to learn, it is difficult to master. D.*Controls* Left Control Stick (LS)- select bar A- enter selected bar B- go back to previous menu Left Control Stick- Move character Right Control Stick-Move camera (left and right for camera angle, up and down for zoom. Button X- Basic attack Button A- Special ability 1 Button B- Special ability 2 Button Y- Team attack Right Trigger- Block/fire mage magic Left Trigger- Build things Left Bumper + A,B,Y buttons- change special ability/team attack E.*Happy stars and tickets* Happy stars are given to you in-game by completing multiplayer games or doing some certain thing, like with the treasure map, where you are given a prize every day you come back to play. The amount of Happy Stars you get in a match depends on how good you did in that match and if you won or not. There is also a counter in the bottom left of your screen that will show how much time is left before "bonus time" starts. Bonus time is when all happy stars that you get in a game are doubled, which can easily get you anywhere from 1000 to 2000 stars in one match. A normal match will usually give you less that 1000 stars. They are used for more of the basic things in the game, like upgrading weapons and playing the happy spinner. If you have a lot of happy stars, you can "spawn stronger" in a multiplayer match by pressing Y when you have died. From now on Happy Stars will be referred to as stars. Happy Tickets are paid for with Microsoft points, and they ain't cheap. 80 points will get you 8 tickets, 160 will get you 18 tickets, 400 will get you 50 tickets, 800 will get you 110 tickets, 1200 will get you 170 tickets, and 1600 nets you 240 tickets. As you buy more at one time, the price lowers, where with 80 points, the cost is 10 per ticket, while it is only 5 per ticket at 1600 points. Happy tickets buy you the better things in the game, like customization packs, card packs, and things from the item shop. They can also be used to level up or modify items. As far as I have seen, happy tickets are not given out free. From now on, happy tickets will be referred to as tickets. F.*Main Menu* At the main menu, there are the basic areas that every XBLA game has of a Leaderboards, Achievements, Help and Options, downloadable content, Recommendations, and Exit Game option. There is also the very important play option, which will take you to a new menu, which has various other sub-menus. The play menus have various uses, and just for ease, lets list them and what they do. Multiplayer- Really? Gets you into a multiplayer match, what else? Single Player-Also self explanatory. Spinner and Cards- This menu has a Happy Spinner and Happy cards. The happy spinner is basically a color roulette, where you bet happy stars on certain things (weapons, accessories, etc.) and hope it lands on what you want. To fill the entire spinner, it will cost 900 happy stars. Happy cards are card packs bought with happy tickets (the ones that cost money) and will include 2 common cards and one premium card. You can chose what type of card pack to choose from. costs 18 tickets per pack. Item shop- This is where you can buy item sets or specific items with happy tickets. They can be anywhere from 8 tickets to 25 tickets. Dress up and Power up- This area is where you can customize your character's appearance and armor. While equipping armor, you can sell anything that you do not need by pressing the back button when you have it selected. There is also an item level-up and an Item modification area, where you can level up your item and modify the "buffs" on your item. more on the extras later. Item level up- this is where you can power up an item. to power up an item, you just have to select it, then chose an item to destroy to power up that item. you also have to pay either happy stars or happy tickets. Item modification- This is where you pay stars or tickets to remove a buff from one of your items. A buff is an extra that is on an item, like construction level one or attack level 2. Some buffs are listed in orange, and these buffs cannot be removed. I have not been able to figure this out, I removed a buff and all it did was waste stars. Either you can somehow put removed buffs on something else, or there are some bad buffs, but I cannot help you here. Stats- Shows you what your current rank is, play time, kills, score, wins, losses, etc. back- Go to the home menu. G.*Gameplay* There are three types of gameplay: there is the campaign, Multiplayer, and co-op. Campaign is unlocked as you rank up, so you can't play through it all at the start. Multiplayer is where you join a match against other real people, and co-op is where you play with real people against AI. Campaign- Fight against the forces of darkness in the campaign. AI enemies. Multiplayer- This is where the meat of happy wars is. You can play a quick match, Co-op, or a player match. (player match is only with your friends.) Quick match will pair you with random people from around the world. Be warned that you might have to wait for a short time, as there is a long set up time. I think that for choosing maps, it will randomly choose someone and pick a map that they have checked on their stage selection list (found when you click on quick match.) You will start playing on that map. Co-op mode will also pair you with people from around the world, but there will only be the one team, yours. The other team is AI. Ga. Each class has its own set of armor (warrior weapon cannot be used on cleric,) but they all share accessories and shields. AP is used for all special abilities, and will be referred to as AP. Warrior- Good class for charging the enemy. Has very strong attack and lots of health, but has limited range. Be careful as the warrior, though, because this game has three-hit combos that are hard to get out of. It is also easy to start another combo after the first one, so you can easily die from one lone person if they attack first. The ways to get out of a combo are. 1. mash X until you attack. 2. run away and try to start attacking first next time. 3. get someone else to start attacking your attacker, or 4. try and use a special ability to get out of the combo. If the other person is very close, you should probably mash X, but if they just got you with the tip of whatever they are using as a sword, then probably run. The best way to attack is to go in with more troops than the other side in a mass attack, i.e. 3 enemies 4 friendlies. The warrior's special abilities mainly focus on destroying large amounts of enemies at one time, where B stops enemies and A is an attack. Many A attacks are very hard to stop with a normal attack, so use them a lot. Mage- Has long-ranged attacks that are good against warriors. The mage has a low health, however, so keep him out of direct combat when able. A mage is also helpful in destroying any attack towers that the enemy is using to defend their tower, as a mage's attacks can travel upward. To fire the mage's magic attack, press the right bumper. The mage can also attack with X, but you should probably stay long-range as much as you can. The mage's special abilities focus on magic. The A button special ability will enchant a weapon, whether it is your weapon or at teammate's weapon. When you have enchanted yourself, you can press A and the right bumper at the same time to launch a more powerful attack that uses a good amount of AP. Cleric- The cleric should be kept out of combat. period. He/she is used to heal other players and construct attack towers. The cleric is mostly used in defense, but is very useful in offense. The Cleric's special abilities are very useful in any match. The A ability is used for healing or resurrecting teammates (or healing yourself). The B abilities are used for constructing things like walls or summoning materials. Materials can be summoned for anything from a defense tower to a battering ram. The battering ram is very useful as it can quickly destroy an enemy tower. Gb. In every game, your character's level is effectively zero. You have to level him up every game to get the new special abilities. Levels can be gained by doing anything from killing enemies to making towers. Every time you level up, you gain a new special ability. Levels will transfer between classes, so you could get to level 3 as a warrior and then get the special abilities of a mage right then. Levels reset at the end of every match. Gc. No matter what game mode you are playing, the strategy stays the same. When you start a match. you will be locked in your castle until a timer ends (about 5 seconds). If you are a mage, you should enchant players to get XP and help them out. As a cleric, you might want to run up the stairs to start on defense towers. A warrior should run toward the door until it you can open it. Once you are outside the gate, you can help in the building of the first spawn tower (recommended as it is quick and gets XP) or run ahead to start either A. attacking the other team or B. building the next spawn tower. Depending on how many spawn towers there are in the map, there might be one more free tower. If there is only one more spawn tower between you and the enemy team, get ready for The Big Battle, as I like to call it. At the Big Battle, most of the people from both teams will meet in a battle. This part is very easy to die on, so you should try and be careful. The best way to go through this part is the stay at the back as a mage and pick people off, use a special ability as a warrior, or just try and heal people as a cleric. If you have a team attack unlocked, this is a great place to use it as I can allow you to take this base, giving you an advantage for your attack. After the Big Battle, battle with either lean towards your castle or towards their castle. If they start getting close to your castle, you want to use your attack towers and try to stop them before they get to your caste. If you see an opening, you should try and go and just barely whittle down at their spawn tower so that they cannot spawn there. this will allow your team to advance easier, and hinder the opposing team. If you see that most enemies are trying to stop you from getting to their castle, then you should not worry about your castle. If it says that someone is nearing your castle, it is probably a lone wolf. You can go back if you want, but someone else will probably go first. One important thing is to not be a lone wolf. If You go deep into enemy territory, then they will overwhelm you. ALWAYS HAVE AT LEAST 3 PEOPLE. The more, the better, but at the very least three. When you get to their castle, you can go one of two ways. You can destroy the castle gate, which is very strong, but cannot be rebuilt. Once the castle gate is gone, that team has practically already lost. The other way is to get a cleric to spawn materials for a ladder to scale the walls. ladders are quick to use, but can be destroyed. there is also a weak blockade at the top of a ladder that must be destroyed.A good way to go is to build a battering ram, as that does massive damage to their gate. If the enemies get to your castle, all is not lost. Just keep trying to push them back. This is a good time to launch a team attack, as they can thin out the other team. Be wary of combos, as with all of the people coming at once, you can easily get overwhelmed. If they break your gate, just make walls as a cleric and hope you can make it. If your Big Tower is almost destroyed, just run. After you lose, if you die, you get strapped to a big pole in you castle. You can use RB to blame allies now, if you want. Gd. By pressing the Right bumper, you can pull up a list of sayings to say during combat. These very depending on what point in the game it is, I.E. stuck in castle, just won, waiting to respawn. While in the normal part of the game, when you first press RB, it will pull up things relating to attacking/blocking. If you press RB again, social options will appear. I mostly use these for combat, but use them as you wish. H.*Hints and Tips* Play the tutorials. They are short and give you hands-on experience. DO NOT CHARGE ALONE. If you have lots of happy stars, try playing the spinner for new weapons. If you have stars and old weapons, upgrade your current stuff. Swap characters during a match based on what would be best at that time. Just keep playing, and practice.
