He never made it home, the tragic victim of an alleged 'OVERDOSE'. Two weeks ago Ernesto's son, Ramiro Cruz is hauled out of jail by the DEA to be told his twin brother, Tommy, works for them as an undercover agent and has some new information about their father's death. But, Tommy has had an accident with a hand grenade and now Ramiro must take his brother's place in an undercover operation closing in on the ruthless drug cartel overlord Papa Muerte. It's official. I love the attention. Gimme your e-mails. Make my head explode. To send me mail that I will read, please set it up with the following fields: E-Mail: jimfish@gmail.com Subject Line: Total Overdose Guide Now that you've got my interest, you must abide by the rules below, or else it won't be read and instead, ignored. Please, if you want your voice to be heard, follow the rules/guidelins. THE DO'S =-=-=-=-= - Inform me of errors that I've made. Either constant grammar or factual info. - Pass on strategies and solutions on how to solve parts of the game which I have not mentioned. - Ask for help about things not mentioned in the guide. - Write in words. Not internet short cuts. - I like to read e-mails with proper formatting and grammar. Please do be sure to write your e-mail like so. - And please, read through the guide before even thinking about contacting me. I've had many e-mails in the past about my other guides where they ask me questions which were answered, or not answered in some cases, since some were about the demo guides I had wrote. THE DO NOT'S =-=-=-=-=-=-= - Send me chain letters or spam. That's one big no-no. - Send attachments. In some cases, I do accept them, but usually for pictures only. - Call me names/Insult me/Threaten me/yadda yadda yadda... - If you e-mail me after reading my demo guide about a part you can't complete in the full game, don't bother. I wrote the demo guide because I don't have the game. - Use child like e-mails with crap colours. I don't want size 32 bright yellow font on top of a lime green background. - Type in alterNaTiNg CaPs LiKe ThIs or just in ALL CAPS AND STUFF. - No stupid 1337 speaking. If I see it, it's deleted in a flash. - Ask irelevent questions which I answered in my guide. It irritates me to have that done. See those rules? Well...they're more like guidelines anyway...but it doesn't matter either way! He wants you to pay a visit to a rival's dope farm and destroy the stash *AND* steal his car. Sounds tough? No, not really. For the demo and promotional purposes, you'll only be doing the first objective of smashing and destroying the fertalizer tower. Ready? Let's go, then. After being dropped off, you'll be on a dirt road alone, with the farm up ahead. For now, just take a slow walk forward to get to grips with movement, but also, to trigger some pop-up tutorials. The first is on how to fire your weapons and to trigger shoot-dodge. PULL R TO FIRE WEAPON TO SHOOT DODGE, PULL L AND MOVE THE LEFT THUMBSTICK IN A DIRECTION. CYCLE THROUGH YOUR WEAPONSWITH [WHITE] AND [BLACK] Don't waste ammo or adrenaline, as you'll be needing it throughout the entire level. Hit A to clear the tutorial box and continue heading up the route. As you approach the bend in the road, a pick-up truck from the farm will begin heading in your direction. Remember, the guys inside HATE you, so don't let them get the drop on you! Keep running towards them and fire at the passenger through the side window. You can use shoot-dodge if you like, but these 2 fellows are simple enemies which only a few shots can kill - Hell, save ammo by meleeing them with the butt of your rifle. Collect their ammo and jump into their vehicle with Y. PRESS A TO ACCELERATE PRESS X TO BRAKE PRESS Y TOP GET IN AND OUT OF THE VEHICLE Handling is a piece of cake in Total Overdose, so don't worry about crashing or anything. Just reverse up and head to the farm, which surprisingly is only a few yards away. As you are on the drive-way to the farm's entrance, another pop-up box will appear. THE EXIT VEHICLE STUNT TURNS YOUR VEHICLE INTO A ROLLING BOMB! TO PERFORM THE EXIT VEHICLE STUNT PULL AND HOLD L TO OPEN THE CAR DOOR, THEN PULL R TO DIVE OUT OF THE CAR. STEP ON IT AND DIVE OUT! Get the hint? The game wants you to perform this bail out move, and isn't it just a good turn of fortune that the farm's entrance is barricaded off with two fuel trucks? Oh yes. Keep the speed up, hold L and then hit R to dive out. Are you ready? Go! As you dive out, you'll insantly enter shoot-dodge mode, so go gung-hu on the group of now scattered thugs and aim for the closet one, which should be the guy on the wooden platform on the left. I can't help you out with the gunfight, I'm afraid. It's all down to you. I can give you a piece of advice, though. See the guy with the big Mexican hat? If you shoot it, it'll fly off his head. If you get under it as it falls, our hero will catch it and wear it, netting himself a spicey bonus! Fans of El Mariachi will be pleased, as Total Overdose sees that you can perform the infamous move of the two guitar cases. Go up onto the wooden platform and walk into the revolving marker to collect the pick-up. THE EL MARIACHI MOVE GIVES YOU TWO LETHAL GUITAR CASES. IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE LOCO MOVE, PRESSING [D-PAD RIGHT] AND [D-PAD LEFT] WILL CYCLE BETWEEN THEM. PRESSING [D-PAD UP] WILL ACTIVE THE CURRENTLY SELECTED LOCO MOVE! Don't worry if you don't understand, as you won't be needing these 'loco moves' just yet. Just move around the area and be sure that the enemies are all dead. To the left of the entrance is a blocked-off pathway through the dope fields, in front of which is a SKULL MARKER. Pick it up. MAKE A BIG COMBO TO SCORE MORE POINTS AND TO WIN INSTANT AWARDS! 3X EXTRA HEALTH 6X TORNADO OR GOLDEN GUN 9X REWIND 12X ??? (It's meant to be secret, but it's a El Mariachi loco move) THE COMBO TIMER IS DISPLAYED ON TOP OF THE RADAR IN THE LOWER LEFT CORNER OF THE SCREEN. As you've noticed by now, once you kill an enemy, the music changes into this crazy guitar mix, indicating combo time. Each time you kill an enemy in combo time, you net points, a multiplyer and more time. Kill 3 guys, you get extra health. So on and so forth. If the timer runs out, the combo mode ends until another enemy is killed. Got it? Good. Jump into a vehicle, as a fuel truck might of survived the explosion, but if not, grab the tractor from the side of the road and hit the gas. In this version of the level, you only need to destroy a single tower, whereas in the full version, you need to destroy 4 of them. Drive forward to see another tractor racing ahead. You can try to shoot him by pressing R, but you'll be hard pressed for accuracy. Let him drive off, as you're headed your own way. Turn off right and up this turn-off. You won't face any enemies, so enjoy a short little ride of the tractor. Pull up by the water tower and jump off, walking into the ladder to climb it. Take the ladder to the top. Some armour and a rewind is up here. If you've died, you'll know what a rewind is, but for those who don't know a rewind is a special ability. You rewind time back if you die, allowing you to tackle the situation again by learning from your mistakes. Or, you can hit Down on the D-Pad to rewind without dying. Climb down the ladder. Clamber back into your tractor and continue driving along the road. Turn the corner and prepare your guns. Drive forward and begin firing as you spot the thugs. There's a whole horde of them to the left in an alcove, you're going to be using a LOCO MOVE in a moment, but first, do the BAIL OUT move, jumping out as your tractor rams into the gas tank at the back. When you hit the ground, cycle through your LOCO MOVES via the D-Pad, going for the purple spiral one. If you don't know what I mean, look to the upper right hand corner of the screen to see three (or less) circles below your ammo count. These are LOCO MOVES. Hit the Up Arrow to activate it. Ramiro will automatically jump into the air and spin around with his dual Uzis. Cool, huh? Kill the enemies and then move to the ladder under the water tower. Climb it. At the top will be one or two guards, so dispatch them quickly, but being careful not to shoot-dodge and dive right of the top of the tower. Circle around the tower's top until you are under the zip-line. Hit A to use it and land over the other side of the fence. As soon as you land, a thug will appear to the right out of the garage's side door, so drill him quickly before spinning around to face two more oncoming from behind. Once they're down, go through the door where the first guy came out from. Dive forward and aim for the barrels on the far left's corner, taking out the guards near them with the explosion, before turning your sights on the final guard who rushes out from the right side of the warehouse. Approach the garage's main door for it to slide open. Step back and shoot everything you see which will explode. The barrels in the foreground, the trucks in the centre, as many thugs hide behind 'em. Just do your thing, collect all the scattered pick-ups before stealing a tractor from the garage and leaving. Turn right out of the main gate and round the corner. On the large mounds of dirt to the right of the area is...a mounted machine gun! Drive up there and dive out, taking command of it with the A button. Mow down everything you see, mainly for kicks, but also just to kill oncoming guards. When it's safe, leave the mounted gun and head around the circle of trailers to find a horde of thugs again. Do your stuff and slaughter them before climbing up the ladder to the water tower. Walk around it until you find the rocket launcher, then hit A to ride the zip-line down to the warehouse. Now, as you are ziplining, you'll notice a guard on the platform shooting you as you descend, so let's return the favour (read: fire)! Blast him up and then as you land into the warehouse's upper floor, shoot the unfortunate sod ahead. From here, it's grinko time. Use everything you've got! These thugs are hiding everywhere, and it's up tro you to kill them all. Dynamite sticks are on top of some crates, so make use of them. Hold down R to power up the throw; the longer you hold, the further it goes. Slaughter your way through the warehouse and down the stairs and to the main door which should open as you approach. Outside, a truck will drive off, revealing several guards approaching. Just use a stick or two of dynamite to blow them to pieces before heading down the hill to mop up any survivors. Okay. The large buildings in front are the fertilizer containers and offices. You don't need to go up the stairs to the tower yet, but you do need to clean out the ground thugs first. Work your way down the back alley, shoot-dodging and maybe even using the El Mariachi guitar case move. Just do whatever it takes to kill the guards. Once they're dead, grab one of the many trucks or vehicles and head off to the large red pointy arrow. The arrow is pointing to the only tower you can destroy, and destroy it you must. Ignore the gunmen who attack, just drive as fast as you can, as you're going to bail out and hit the fertilizer with the vehicle. As you get near to the fertilizer tank, you'll notice a health bar at the bottom showing the damage left until it's destroyed. The vehicle hitting it will take it down to about half way, so use either the rocket launcher to finish it off, the grenade launcher from the nearby trailer, or use your El Mariachi move to blast it to pieces. Once it's destroyed, watch the cutscene. Okay. These farmers are now pretty pissed and will attack you from all sides. Hit the GOLDEN GUN LOCO MOVE and set about shoot-dodging, killing each of the thugs with the force of the Golden Gun. There's quite a few to contend with, but just head to one of the vehicles up the road and clamber in, reversing up back to the main fertilizer building. Because you've already cleared out the ground forces, you can simply head over to the staircase and climb it. When the stairs reaches a corner, stop and prepare to shoot the guy at the top of the stairs, else you're dead. Simply continue this caution streak up until you reach the top of the tower. Walk over to the yellow marker and hit A by the doors to push the wobbling tower over. Too bad that our friend gets pulled over with it, but at least he lands in the perimeter to the villain's house. Sadly, the demo ends. Guess you'll need to be buying the full version to find out how the mission ends, eh? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- =============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (T-K) THANKS TO...
