Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind GOTY East Empire Company Walkthrough By: William "Itummasta" Kellam Date: 7/23/04 Version: 1.0 ~|Version History|~ 7/24/04 - Starting this guide, whoopee. Finished Carnius Magius' side of the EEC quests as well as Falco's. Probably won't be updated again unless people give me suggestions or whatnot. ~|Introduction|~ Hello and welcome to my first FAQ on GOTY (or anywhere, since anything before now I have sent has been rejected :[) Edition of Morrowind. This guide covers both sides of the EEC (East Empire Company) quests in the Bloodmoon expansion. This is for people that have trouble on the quests or can't decide who to side with. I'll give you my expert insight on what to do, what to choose, etc etc. Since we're reading this guide I am going to assume that your character is up to level with Solstheim and its enemies and such. I will tell you the requirements needed to advance, but I won't help you on getting there. Still ready to engage in business? Read on! ~|Table of Contents|~ A: Beginning Quests A1: Becoming a Member A2: Leading 3 Hapless Members Through a Snowy Wilderness A3: Shiny Pieces of Metal A4: Bloody Environmentalists A5: Woe is He Who Pilots a Supply Ship B: The Crossroads C: Carnius Magius Quests C1: Leave it to Me to Decide What The Townspeople Have C2: Not Too Hardy, Is He? E: Tips and Tricks F: Disclaimer and Goodbyes ~|Beginning Quests|~ These quests occur before you side with either Falco or Carnius. Not much to say here, so let's get on with it, shall we? ~|Becoming a Member|~ This is the beginning of the beginning, joining the company. After you get to Fort Frostmoth, go to the Imperial Cult Shrine which is on the north side of the fort, and head across from where you entered up the stairs and enter a room. Go to the far right door and open it. Your boss, Carnius Magius, is right here, dressed in extravagant clothing. Engage in a convo with him, and join the company. We're in! Result: You're a member of the EEC ~|Leading 3 Hapless Members Through a Snowy Wilderness|~ Despite what the title says, it's not that hard. Before writing this FAQ, I didn't know you could take the boat to Raven Rock at the get-go. Anyway... Carnius wants you to take 3 folks down at the docks to the new colony site. Being the ever so obedient lackey you are, you're going to go right ahead and do that. Leave his office and the Imperial Shrine and go south to the docks. The three people there, 2 Dunmer and an Imperial, are your escortees. Talk to Gidar, the Dunmer at the front, and tell him that you're ready to go, and he and his comrades will follow you. If you want a challenge, leave the fort through the north and go to Raven Rock on foot (Gidar marks the location on your map so you don't get lost), or be cheap and go to the boat near you and ask the Argonian to take you to Raven Rock. Whenever you do get there, find a person over there named Falco Galenus (he's the only person at Raven Rock). When you go over to him and your escortees catch up, Gidar will offer his thanks and you will have completed this quest. Result: Nothing ~|Shiny Pieces of Metal|~ Chat with Falco Galenus and he will give you another task which is to get some raw ebony. He gives you a piece and tells you to find four more. If by some stroke of luck you have 4 more (not including the one you have, which brings the total to five) pieces, then go back to Carnius with the pieces and he'll reward you. Otherwise, look to about the north of Galenus, and you'll find slabs of raw ebony. Click on the rocks and grab the ebony until you have 5 pieces. Talk to Galenus, who will tell you to go to Carnius. Go back to him to complete the quest. Result: 100 gold, Stock Certificate ~|Bloody Enviromentalists|~ Now you need to wait for 3 days, game time. If you don't want to do anything else, just keep waiting for 24 hour increments until your journal gets updated again. Speak with Carnius and he'll tell you that Falco's got a problem back at the site. Go over to Raven Rock by boat or on foot, and talk to Falco. He will tell you that some Nord who supports nature is griping and whining to the whole colony, and that someone needs to get rid of him. Talk with said Nord and he'll start yelling at you about curses and nature and some other crap. Go back to Falco and he'll want you to smack Hroldar around with your fists. You can kill him if you want, but Falco gets mad and you don't get a reward. If you have good hand to hand skills, smack him around. Even if you don't, keep using your fists as HtH increases quickly. Keep smacking him around, he won't retaliate, until he says that he'll go. Talk to Falco and you'll get your reward. Now go back to Carnius. Results: 1000 gold ~|Woe is He Who Pilots a Supply Ship|~ Chat with Carnius, and he'll ask you to get a shipping manifest from Falco. Go to Falco and find out that he doesn't have one, because Carnius didn't have the good sense to put in a dock, the idiot. He'll ask you to find out of any of the villagers have seen anything. One of them tells you about seeing a light to the NW. So go along the western coast north until you find the ship. Or what's left of it. You'll see 3 Dragur, weird humanoid thingies with red eyes, in front of the ship. Dispatch them. and look around the ship until you find an Imperial female sporting some nice duds. Converse with her and she'll tell some sob story about how the Wood Elf was piloting the ship and how she had to defend herself, blah blah blah. Don't let her follow you just yet. Rather, get on the boat (it's kinda hard, but you can do it!) and go into the cabin, and get the miner's pick in there. Go out of the cabin and through the trapdoor on deck, and find 5 more picks. They're a bit heavy, so if your strength is not high, it might be hard to carry them. After getting all six, go back to the Imperial woman and tell her to follow you, and then go back to Raven Rock. Be careful, because blizzards might conceal wolves that will try to kill your escortee, and in a blizzard, it's hard to find her. She almost died in one of my earlier saves. Anyway, take her back, and chat with Falco to complete this venture. Results: 3300 Gold, 300 if you didn't get the pickaxes ~|The Crossroads|~ Here we are. This part determines where your future in the EEC will lean towards. Will you side with Carnius Magius, hoping to strike it rich? Or are you more caring, choosing Falco Galenus and helping the colony prosper? Either way, I shall help you in your decision. Some of the quests are the same whether you choose Carnius or Falco, so it's not a TOTAL change. Carnius Magius: Carnius has easier and in my opinion, funner quests. However, some of the benefits when you become Factor for Falco won't be there when you choose Carnius. This is for people who want to play a criminal of sorts, or just like to be a bad person. Falco Galenus: His quests are a bit harder, but you get more rewards from them, and you get the nice feeling of helping people and the law and what's right. This is for noble people and people who like rewards. I chose Carnius on my first game, so I shall cover his quests first. ~|||Carnius Magius Quests|||~ So you chose the way of Carnius, and want wealth and prosperity, not caring who gets in your way. Beware, for some quests are deadly, but exhilarating. What will happen in the end? Only time shall tell. ~|Leave it to Me to Decide What The Townspeople Have|~ Carnius asks you to decide what to put in the colony, a trader or a smith? Both have a respectable amount of selling cash (10k), but I recommend the Trader as he has a wider selection of goods that he accepts. Still, if you want the Smith, go right ahead. Choose one and Carnius gives you 300 gold for your choice. Results: 300 gold, a trader or smith in Raven Rock ~|Not Too Hardy, Is He?|~ Now you gotta wait again; wait three days and speak to Carnius. Carnius is pissed now; Falco is AGAIN having trouble at the site, and Carnius wants you to go over there and solve it. Talk to Falco and he tells you that one Baro Egnatius wants extra payment just for doing his job. Greedy little son of a...ahem. Anyway, speak with the guy at the docks, and he remains adamant; either he gets the cash or he isn't moving. Not that anyone in this game does anything more complex than move, stand still, or fight. Chat with Falco again and he'll tell you to ask the villagers about Elberoth. Since I'm here to help, talk to the Imperial girl you rescued in Woe is He Who Pilots a Supply Ship. She'll tell you something about Elberoth and that he was a good fighter, and gives you his saber. Equip the saber, and take it out, and talk to Egnatius again. He gets scared of you and immediately wishes to go without extra cash. Be satisfied, and talk to Falco to complete this quest. Result: 1000 gold, 10 Cure Common Disease potions ~|Dispose of the Evidence|~ Now Carnius tells you about how Falco suspects Uryn Maren of stealing ebony. Carnius wants you to grab the ebony from Maren's chest so that Falco has nothing to go on. It's getting kind of fishy...go to Raven Rock and go to Uryn Maren's place. The door has a 100 lock, but Carnius has provided you with the key. Go inside, and go to the door on the left (it's hard to find) and take the 5 raw ebony from the chest. Go back to Carnius and he'll be satisfied. But we ain't done yet. Carnius informs you that Falco somehow caught on and has put a guard in the storeroom so Uryn can't do any more stealing. Since you're Carnius' slave now, he wants you to help Uryn. Go to the Raven Rock mine and find Uryn Maren. He'll tell you that the guard loves whiskey, and will give you a bottle of Flin. Go to the guard and talk to him about boring. Give him the Flin and he will walk somewhere else. Follow him until he stops, and wait there with him. Uryn will eventually come back and tell you to go to Carnius. Do so. Result: 1000 Gold ~|Spunky Old Man|~ Wait 3 days again, and talk to Carnius. Carnius tells you that some old Dunmer guy in the Raven Rock bar fights all that enter. This is a major slowdown for business, and he wants you to deal with it. Approach the bar door, and Seler's wife will ask you not to hurt her husband, saying that he's an old man and that he's just mad and irritable. Go inside and he will talk about how he's gonna die with honor, and will then try to kill you with his fists. He doesn't hit much, and not for a whole lot of fatigue loss, so let him swing until he gets tired and wants you to fight him. Talk about fight me and keep saying no, and why do you want to (the second choice each time). He'll see the error of his ways in a sense, and he will stop. Go back to Carnius and finish the quest. Result: 2000 gold ~|More Valuable Than Raw Ebony?|~ Talk to Carnius and he will tell you that the real reason he came here was because of a magical ice called Stalhrim which is very valuable. Naturally, he wants to hoard it all for himself. He tells you to find three people who are the only other people that know about it, and kill them and get the pick from them. Look on the map and go in that space between where the two rivers meet, and you will find a house with three Nords outside it, who don't wish to talk. Make them stop talking permanently, and grab the pickaxe from Graring's body. Go back to Carnius. He tells you to get some of the stuff from the colony mine, so do so. Go to the mine and search around until you find a very dark passageway that ends in a dead end. On the right wall is the encasing of Stalhrim (it's very dark so it's hard to find). Get the Raw Stalhrim from the encasing and go back to Carnius to finish this quest. Result: 3000 Gold, able to get Stalhrim weapons and armor crafted ~|Excuse Me Waiter, One Messenger, Well Done|~ Chat with Carnius and he'll tell you that Hroldar the Strange, the whiny enviromentalist Nord from earlier, is actually one of his lackeys. Weird. Now Carnius wants you and Hroldar to team up to make sure that a report from Falco does not end up in the fort. He'll tell you that Hroldar is good with wildlife and that he will get some wolves to kill the messenger. Your task is to get said messenger. First, find Hroldar in the courtyard of the fort and follow him until he stops and tells you to fetch the messenger. Let's do so. Go to Raven Rock, and near it is Tirvel Balen, the messenger. Chat with him and he'll ask for an escort, saying that he is scared of the wolves and bears in the area. Offer to escort, and go back to Hroldar (DO NOT TAKE THE BOAT BACK TO FORT FROSTMOTH), and Hroldar's wolves will devour the messenger rather easily. Talk to Hroldar and he will give you a letter and some scrolls. Read the letter and find out that it's from Carnius and that he wants you to kill Hroldar, and since Hroldar can't read, he doesn't know a thing. Kill Hroldar, or better yet, use the scrolls on the wolves and let them do the dirty work. After Hroldar is dead, go back to Carnius and finish the quest. Result: 1000 Gold ~|Bloody Enviromentalists II|~ SAVE BEFORE YOU DO THIS QUEST. THERE IS A BUG THAT WILL PREVENT YOU FROM CONTINUING IF YOU DON'T DO IT RIGHT. Speak with Carnius and he'll tell you that Falco is having trouble. AGAIN. This time it's Spriggans. Go over to Raven Rock and speak with Falco, who says that they are concentrated on the east side of town. Kill the first one which is in the clearing on the east side three times (they come back to life twice) but do not kill any others (another will spawn and come after you). After you kill the first one thrice, kill the second one that spawned, and don't kill any others even if they come after you. After that, go to the north part of the bar, where another Spriggan resides. Kill that one thrice, and then kill the last one thrice. If you did it right, you will get a journal update. If not, keep doing it until you do. Talk to Unel Lloran in the bar, and he says that there are probably roots which prevent the trees from being chopped down. So go to the mine and talk to anyone about the roots, and then find a door that leads to Abandoned Mine Shaft. Go in there and walk forward a bit, and find the roots and get a journal update. Go back to Unel and he'll ask you to take him to the roots. Do so, and he'll tell you to get 5 bittergreen petals so he can poison the water and weaken the roots. Go back to Fort Frostmoth and take the boat to Khuul, then take the silt strider to Gnisis, then go into the temple and buy some petals from a guy on the first floor. Go back to Unel and give him the petals, and you'll be asked to go back to Carnius. Do so. Result: 1000 Gold ~|Yay, Now I Don't Have To Worry About Saving Their Arses|~ Talk to Carnius again, and he'll tell you to find some guards to protect the town so the investors still have some interest. Carnius is one sneaky little person. Go to the town and find some volunteers. You only need to find one, but find all 3 and you get a bigger reward. You can just talk to Aber Flaccus in the bar and he will volunteer. Go back to Carnius. Guard Locations: Afer Flaccus - Bar Garbas Uvalen - East Side Gratian Caerellius - Mine Result: Gold, depending on how many volunteers you got (exact values will be appreciated) ~|Lee Harvey Oswald, Morrowind Style|~ Chat with Carnius and find out that he wants Falco out of the way. I'll give you three guesses who's going to kill him. He says that he has a bow, an arrow and a scroll in the Mining Tower to help you. Go to Raven Rock and go to the Mining Tower (the big tall structure). Inside is a bow, a poison arrow, and a Scroll of the Hidden Killer which is a nice piece of magic, and is intended to help you kill Falco. And it does its job, with 100 Fortify Marksman, 60 Sneak and a Chameleon effect. So gather the supplies and look out across the colony, and find out where Falco is. He should be in the center somewhere, walk around and learn the surroundings a bit until you can pinpoint him easily from the tower. Ready? Alright, good. Equip the bow and arrow, but do not draw it yet. Get the scroll ready and use it. You will be cloaked and you will be a master marksman. Draw your bow, and your distraction will come after the guards and...well, distract the guards. Once the guards go after him, aim the bow and shoot Falco with it. He goes down easy. After doing so, get out of there, grabbing Falco's stuff if you wish to. Talk to Carnius to finish the quest. Result: 4000 Gold, Ice Shield ~|It's an Ambush, Jak! IT'S AN AMBUSH!|~ The title gives some sense of foreboding, doesn't it? Talk to Carnius and he will be disappointed that the investors still want to use the colony. He wants you to give some equipment to some Nords of his who will pose as natives and kill off the colony. Go out into the hall and there should be two cloth sacks next to the table where Constans Atrius is. Grab the Huntsman Axes and the Bear and Wolf armor from them and go out of the fort via the southern exit. Go east along the coastline and stop east of the mouth of the second river. Rest until nightfall and you will see some Nords there, led by Toralf. Talk to Toralf and he will tell you to distribute some equipment to his men. Talk to each of them about equipment and you will automatically give it to them. Talk to Toralf and he will be satisfied. And the joke's on us! Now that you've helped Carnius get what he wants, Toralf and his men are going to kill you! Nothing personal, just orders from Carnius. Greedy bastard. This is a tough fight, seeing as it's a six on one. Kill them all and get a journal update. Get their equipment if you so wish. Go back to Carnius and chat with him. He ain't too happy about how you managed to survive a 6 on 1 onslaught, and will proceed to kill you himself. He has a good weapon and 10 Exclusive Restore Health potions, so he's not the easiest corn on the cob. Or something. Kill him and loot his body for the potions and a good blunt weapon. Speak to Constans Atrius back in the hall and you'll be Factor of EEC, no matter what rank you were previously. Woohoo! Result: Factor of EEC ~|Our Own Private Estate, Woohoo!|~ Talk to Constans and he will tell you something about an estate. Go to Raven Rock and you will find Aldam Berendus, the guard you tricked. He's the head of construction, and will help you with your estate. He tells you that the three possible locations are marked with a torch. Choose one (I always choose the one near the Mining Tower) and Aldam Berendus will tell you that it will take five days to build. Leave Raven Rock and rest until you get a journal update. Come back and find your spankin' new estate! Result: Private Estate ~||||Falco Galenus Quests||||~ So you chose the way of Falco Galenus; help the colony prosper, strike back at Carnius and his greed. Quests are hard, and will strain you to the best of your abilities, but the result is grand in the end. (Note: Some of these quests are the same as Carnius' quests, so material will more or less be the same) ~|Leave it to Me to Decide What The Townspeople Have|~ Falco asks you to decide what to put in the colony, a trader or a smith? Both have a respectable amount of selling cash (10k), but I recommend the Trader as he has a wider selection of goods that he accepts. Still, if you want the Smith, go right ahead. Choose one and Falco gives you 300 gold for your choice. Results: 300 gold, a trader or smith in Raven Rock ~|Not Too Hardy, Is He?|~ Now you gotta wait again; wait three days and speak to Falco again. Baro Egnatius wants extra payment just for doing his job. Result: 1000 Gold ~|Caught in the Act|~ Falco suspects Uryn Maren of stealing ebony ore, and he wants you to find some evidence. He will give you a key to his house, and tell you to go inside it. Do so, unlock the chest in his room to find out that the ebony ore is gone! Go back to Falco and he will tell you that you should try to catch him red handed. Go into the mine, making sure you have some kind of invisibility spell or enchantment ready, or have a good sneak skill. If you don't have either, this part will be next to impossible. Get invisible/sneak and wait for him to go into sneak mode himself, and he will go into the storeroom. When your journal updates, turn off your sneak/invisibility and talk to Uryn. He confesses but says that Carnius told him to. Falco tells you to talk to Carnius and see for yourself if he did it. Being the businessman he is, he denies any part, saying that it's his word against the word of a thief. Go back to Falco and find out that Uryn Maren was found dead in the storeroom. Hmmmm... Result: 500 gold ~|Spunky Old Man|~ Wait 3 days again, and talk to Falco. Falco tells you that some old Dunmer guy in the Raven Rock bar fights all that enter. Go back to Falco and finish the quest. Reward: 1500 Gold ~|Magic Unbreakable Ice|~ Falco tells you that the miners have found some kind of unbreakable ice. He tells you to find Graring, who is located south of where the two rivers meet, far to the north. Go up there, and find that Graring is under attack from a woman. Kill the woman. If she is not there, she should be to the east of the house. Kill her either way, and Graring will thank you and give you a pickaxe. He wants you to chip off some Stalhrim to see if you can be trusted. Find a burial barrow (signified by a big stone structure with a round door) and get some, or you can go to the Raven Rock mine and in the dark passageway on the right wall is a Stalhrim encasing. Get some either way and give it to Graring. He will say that his comrades will forge you Stalhrim equipment, which is some good stuff. Go back to Falco. Result: 1000 gold, can get Stalhrim equipment made ~|Courier|~ This is, in most people's opinion, the hardest of Falco's missions, and with good reason. (BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE, DO THIS FIRST) Get a Mark spell. Or Divine Intervention. Time is of the essence here. Either Mark the place in the hallway or use Divine Intervention when it's time. And get a Levitation spell or enchantment. And finally, get some good speed items, and SAVE before doing this. Ready? Falco wants you to deliver a report to Carnius in five hours. Gametime that is. Which isn't much. If you have some good speed items (Boots of Blinding Speed works well here) then this will be easy. I did it with the BoBS, so I will assume you have it as well. After getting the report, Reacll to the place I told you to Mark or use Divine Intervention. Go into Carnius' office and find...he isn't there! Talk to Constans Atrius, who will say that he went to one of these three locations: Brodir Grove - go on the boat and head northeast of the colony. Carnius and his guard will be near some big rocks over there. Shipwreck - The Shipwreck in Woe is He Who Pilots a Supply Ship. Go north along the west coast to get there. Speed items work well East of a Rock Arch - Far Northeast from the fort. It's about E-SE of the Sun Stone. Alright, now it's time for your Levitation spell. Activate it and go over the carpet. The carpet has a hidden trap which will slow you down by 190 points. Biiiiiiiiiiiiig no-no. Get out of the fort and go to the location that Constans said to go to. Hurry, because if you fail, you will get a journal entry saying you failed, and you will be expelled. PERMANENTLY. Ouch. Find Carnius and give him the report, and he will be surprised that you made it. Go back to Falco now. Result: 1000 Gold ~|Bloody Environmentalists II|~ SAVE BEFORE YOU DO THIS QUEST. THERE IS A BUG THAT WILL PREVENT YOU FROM CONTINUING IF YOU DON'T DO IT RIGHT. Falco's having trouble again. This time it's Spriggans. Go over to Raven Rock and speak with Falco, who says that they are concentrated on the east side of town. Kill the first one which is in the clearing on the east side three times (they come back to life twice) but do not kill any others (another will spawn and come after you). Go back to Unel and give him the petals, and you'll be asked to go back to Falco. Do so. Result: 2000 Gold ~|Yay, Now I Don't Have To Worry About Saving Their Arses|~ Talk to Falco again, and he'll tell you to find some guards. You don't have to get all 3 guards, but you will get a bigger reward. Once you get some volunteers, report back to Falco. Afer Flaccus - Bar Garbas Uvalen - East Side Gratian Caerellius - Mine The more you get, the easier the next mission, Protect The Principal is going to be. Result: Gold, depending on how many volunteers you got (exact values will be appreciated) ~|Protect The Principal|~ Tell me what book the title refers to and get a cookie. Now then, you need to leave town for 3 days and come back. Talk to Falco and he will tell you to stick close to him, because he fears he will be assassinated. Wait close by him, and three attackers will come after you and Falco. Depending on how many guards you recruited, this will be an easy or a hard fight. Kill the attackers and speak to Falco. Result: 1000 Gold, 10 Restore Health Potions, Ice Shield ~|Longswords and Stuff|~ Leave town for 2 days and come back. Talk to Falco and he will tell you that Carnius has refused to give the colony some silver weapons. Go to Constans outside Carnius' office in the fort and get 3 silver longswords from him. Go back to town to find out... ...that it's been attacked by the Skaal! Ambushed. Falco says that they went into the mine. Time for some cleanup work. Go in there and kill all of them. On one of them is a note. Give this note to Falco, and he will tell you to go talk to Carnius. Carnius confesses that he sent mercenaries on the village, and is really pissed off because you botched his plans. So he'll whip out his Stalhrim Mace and attack you. He's got 10 Exclusive Restore Health Potions, and his Mace is pretty strong, so watch yourself. Kill him and you'll be named Factor of the EEC, regardless of previous rank. Woohoo! Result: Factor of EEC ~|Our Own Private Estate, Woohoo!|~ Talk to Falco and he will tell you something about an estate. Go to Raven Rock and you will find Aldam Berendus. He's the head of construction here, and will build you your estate. Find a spot, marked by a torch, and tell him to follow you to it. Go out of town for three days and come back. You have your own estate! Result: Private Estate ~|||||Tips and Tricks|||||~ Stock Certificate: The highest value the stock certificate can go is 10,000 gold, I believe. Check the value after each quest until you get the 10k value, then sell it. Stalhrim Equipment: Stalhrim is a very good material. Plus it's cheap to make, just give them one piece of Stalhrim and you'll have your new equipment in no time. Stalhrim is a bit hard to come by, but they're in burial barrows, which aren't hard to come by if you look hard enough. More tips shall come as I find them. ~|||||Disclaimer and Goodbyes|||||~ This FAQ Copyrighted William "Itummasta" Kellam, All Rights Reserved This guide may only be used on GameFAQs.com.
