Recently bought GbtG for my Xbox as I love all of the games that Rare Ltd. has released so far, and I am loving this game. Ive finished it once so far, and didnt get a good rating, so I thought Id go through it again, only to forget where all of the Rare Book locations were. So I started writing them down so I didnt forget the next time I went through it, and decided to make a walkthrough out of them. Hopefully what I have in here will be helpful to you. Im doing my best, too, as this is my first Walkthrough that Ive written, so hopefully I dont make too much of a fool out of myself. Quick note: I make references to "Challenge Door" several times. By that I mean the door with the question mark on it. Now, onto the Walkthrough... ///////////////////////////////////\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ BOOK LOCATIONS \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\/////////////////////////////////// To make it easy, Ill put them in direct order of how the game progresses. C H A P T E R 1 : (The first ones are obvious, but Ill mention them anyway) Grand Hallway- After you beat the Imps, collect it from the main staircase. Trophy Room- This one is at the end of the hall. Cooper gets it by himself. Billiard Room- As you enter the room, turn left, and it will be sitting in front of the corner of the couch. Gaming Room- Do a 180 and youll see it sitting on the rocking chair in the corner. Billiard Room- Right next to you as you enter the room, resting on the grandfather clock. Lower Corridors- At the end of the corridor youll see a Zombie and a Mummy dancing behind a barred off area. Look to the right and youll see the book. Cinema- In the bookcase near the fireplace. Gaming Room- Youll need to break down the fence to the little toy area and it is in there, sitting on a ball. Basement- After fending off a few Spiders, youll see it sticking out of a sarcophagus in the wall. Relic Store- Youll see it when Cooper is walking around by himself, but if not, after the Mummy pops out, it is in the central area on the same side as the Bonus Door. Ye Olde Archives- Run straight past Amber to the end of the hall, then turn left. It is sitting on top of a cardboard box. Cellar- When you come across the big wine barrel that the Imps pop out of, go to the right of that and youll see it resting on a box. C H A P T E R 2 : Kitchen- If you look at Ma Soupswill with the big pot on your left, it is on a stovetop directly behind you. Scullery- As you enter the room, there is a water tank thing directly to your right. Smash it to reveal the book. Lower Corridors- When you come to the end of the corridor there is an area opposite the door that has been bricked up. The book is behind the box. Embassy Ballroom- After leaving the dance floor, go straight instead of up the stairs. Youll see it as you go up the hall. Conservatory- As you come into the room, youll see a table and chairs. It is leaning against the far side of the chair on your right. Boathouse- When you come in youll see some shelves on your right. It is on the side farthest from you on a bucket. Lighthouse Store- Turn the camera to face the door you just came through. Lighthouse Living Quarters- To the left of the toilet there is some Rare reading material. Ahahahahaha...ha... h... *shakes head at self* Lighthouse Lantern Room- There are some barrels up the top at the end. Smash them and get the book. Lighthouse Living Quarters- In the bath... simple. Lighthouse Store- When youre able to move, spin the camera around and youll see it against some boxes. Boathouse- In the middle of the room there is a big chest, two boxes, and a big barrel. Smash the big chest to get the book. Dining Room- When you go into the main part of the room, the screen will go to a close-up of the Captain. The book is in front of him on the big table at the head of the room. Embassy Ballroom- After leaving the dance floor (smash the painting to the left to get a Shocker Blocker ;D) then go right, past the hallway to the door, then right again, all the way to the end. The book will be on the very last table. Lower Corridors- At the start, go into the bricked up area and spin the camera right. Youll see it. Scullery- In the second part of the room, look in the sink closest to the right-hand corner of the room. Kitchen- As you come into the room, go forward and turn right after the table. Continue from there and turn left at the next table. Go into that little area and turn left again. Youll spot the book. Ffffreezer- Go forward to the end of the room and youll see some shelves. The book is on the bottom shelf. Garbage Yard- After the area with the U-DUMP Disposal Unit, go right, then directly right again. Youll see an old oven-thing with the book in the left side. Wood Shed- Eventually, youll come to a little area with a buzz-saw table in the middle. To the left of that, there is a plant with three Spiders on it. The book is at its base. Farmyard- As you come into the area, directly to your left is a wood chipper. Smash it and the book will pop out. Chicken Shed- Ok, heres how this goes. The book is in the 3rd section. Section1 has 3 wheelbarrows, section2 has 2 buckets, and section3 has a feeding troth full of chicken feed. As you come into section3 there is a bunch of chicken feed bags and boxed hay (as far as I can ascertain :S) to your immediate left. Follow it around and youll find the book. (whew!) Farmyard- Go directly forward from where you start and youll see it resting against a fencepost. Workshop- One of the (vined) doors has a can of Invulnerability Soup next to it. When you find this door, go back towards the big oven and turn directly to your left to see a little work bench with the book sitting next to it. Lower Corridors- At the end, smash the vase. Pantry- There is a barrel to the left of the Bonus Door. Smash it. Youll get the book aswell as a can of Bonus Complete Soup. ;) Kitchen- The book is in front of the Ffffreezer door. Grand Hallway- Beat the Haunted Paintings and the book will come out of one of them. Cloakroom- On the far side of the room there are two windows. It is sitting behind the curtain of the window on the right. Sitting Room- Smash the grandfather clock. Music Room- Turn the camera so youre facing Cooper and it is on top of an accordion, directly behind him. Walled Garden- Turn right, then keep going till you come to the wall. Turn the camera right and youll spot it nestled between the wall and the flower bed. Study- Look to the wall with the TV against it and youll see it sitting on the window sill with some other books. Music Room- Finish the Ninja Imp Challenge, then finish the Hunchback Challenge. The book comes out of him when you beat him. Sitting Room- As you enter the room, there is a couch to your right. Go over to the other side of the couch and it will be underneath the edge. Cloakroom- Smash the large green chest in front of the two windows, get the book, then dodge the Reaper. Grand Hallway- In the bookcase on the left side of the staircase. Kitchen- Go to Ma Soupswills big pot and turn left. Youll see a garbage pile and some shelves. Smash the shelves to get the book, but do it before you finish the Fire Imps as you wont get a chance when youre done. Cellar- Turn the camera right to see three stacked boxes and a barrel. The book is between the top box and the wall. Ye Olde Archives- Turn right, go down the hall, then turn left and smash the flat brown crate next to the door. But collect the book BEFORE you finish Monster Amber as you wont get another chance when youre done. C H A P T E R 3 : Grand Hallway- Turn left and youll see a wooden chair and a vase. Smash the vase. Housekeeping Store- In front of the picture of Ghoulhaven Hall (on its side), near the Challenge Door. Crivens' Quarters- Smash Crivens' bedside table. Housekeeping Store- This time, beat the Warlock and the book will come from him. Grand Hallway- Go up to the top level and it will be sitting in front of Baron Von Ghouls bedroom door. Upper Corridors- Get past the Mummies without getting hit and go left instead of through the door, then smash the big vase. Bathroom- Smash the toilet. Easy. Schoolroom- Smash the globe in the first room, but watch out for the Reaper. Infirmary- In the second part of the room, youll see a locker in front of an upturned bed. Follow the hall down to a boarded up door and the book will be next to it. Dunfiddlin Cottage Garden- Get up to Mr. Fiddlesworth and get Ol' Edna off him, then turn around and beat the Vampires. The book is in one of them. Greenhouse- Go forward from where you start, turn left at the first tomato plants, then take the second right. If you look to your left, youll see three pumpkins. The book is between the first and second pumpkin. Potting Room- In the pots, on the table, to the right of the piece of the rhyme. Greenhouse- In the pile of rocks in the far left corner of the room. Dunfiddlin Cottage Garden- Instead of going into Mr. Fiddlesworths' front yard, follow the big bush to the right of the gate around and youll find the book. Dunfiddlin Cottage- Once the second challenge starts, Zombies jump out of the freezer in his kitchen. The book is in the freezer. Workshop- Go to the right and smash the kiln (small oven thing). Farmyard- As you start, turn the camera right and youll see a stone wheel against the wall. Smash it and the book, aswell as two worms, will pop out. Foundry- Smash the bellows (fire puffer thing) which is on the table to the left of the big oven. Stables- After breaking through the first gate, youll see an upside down feeding troth to your right, on top of three boxes. The book is on the middle box. Foundry- Smash the Rare barrel closest to the Challenge Door. Farmyard- Beat Jessie & Clyde and the book comes from he... err... it. NOTE: Get the One Hit Wonder Soup from the wood chipper to beat J&C quicker. ;) Woodshed- Beat all the Medusa's and it comes from the last one you beat. Garbage Yard- Smash the dumpster near the Challenge Door. Ffffreezer- Go to your right and smash the second freezer along. Youll need to go in the freezer to get it. Kitchen- Turn left and follow the wall around to the stairs. Go down the stairs and the book is near the door. Laundry- As you enter the main room, youll see two rows of washers. Smash the third one from the right. Servants Dormitory- Get past all of the J&Cs and get to the exit, which will turn into a Haunted Door. Beat the Haunted Door and the book comes from it. Servants Bathroom- Survive for the whole minute-twenty seconds, and the book and a Cursed Mummy will jump out of the furnace. Attic- As you come to the part of the room with the sewing machine in the middle of the room, look left to see a cabinet. The book is between the wall and the left side of the cabinet. Grand Hallway- Smash the bust (statue) to the right of the open door at the head of the main staircase. Experiments Chamber- Smash the first machine (with the two red panels) in the smaller part of the chamber. Krackpots Lab- The book is in the freezer that the Jessie & Clydes jump out of. Experiments Chamber- Smash the lockers, get the book. Grand Hallway- Take the stairs to Coopers left, then take another left. The book is behind the door on your right. C H A P T E R 4 : The Barons Quarters- In the bathroom, smash the little wall cabinet to the left of the window. C H A P T E R 5 : Grand Hallway- Smash the big vase that is next to the Skeleton Door. Bathroom- Go forward after you smash through the glass and youll see a vined up door. Smash the cupboard to its right and get the book. Conservatory- From where you start youll see a bench. Smash the pot plant to its left. Dunfiddlin Cottage- Smash the wardrobe near Fiddlesworths' bed, but only after you complete the challenge. Dining Room- Go to the Captains Table (large table at the end of the room) and smash the big vase. Pantry- Smash the shelves to the left of the door you DIDNT enter the room through. Relic Store- As you come in the room, turn right, go past the first sarcophagus, turn left at the second, then youll see another sarcophagus. Smash that one and grab the book. Laundry- As you start, smash the washing machine with the basket on top of it (the one in the middle of the first three). Walled Garden- Go straight from where you start, but go around the tree so you dont talk to Mr. Ribs. Go around the tree to avoid him and go straight again till you see some pots next to a Turbo Cooper can. The book is in the pot on the left. Cinema- Smash the small vase on the table to the left of where you start. Lower Corridors- Smash the small vase next to the open door at the end of the corridor. Grand Hallway- Near Mr. Ribs, youll see a small vase on a table. Smash the table. Front Gate- In this area there is two dog houses. Go to the one that Mr. Ribs isnt standing near, and the book is in the food bowl. ///////////////////////////////////\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ NOTES \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\/////////////////////////////////// Just a few quick notes. I may add more in the future if I find any. --- If you hit Black in the Bonus Challenge Menu, youll be able to see which books you have and where. Im not sure, but Ive heard that, if you get 100/100 for you Super Scary Score, you get an option to listen to GbtG game tracks. Ill try to get it just to see if this is true or not, but if someone has, email me so I can verify this. ;) Ok, getting 100/100 for your Super Scary Score does nothing. All you get is some bats dancing when you finish it. Its pointless, but in order to get 100/100, you need to finish the in 3:50 or less, have over 750 Ghoulie kills, and faint 20 times or less. These are just based roughly on what I got, and also on memory, so email me if theyre not exact. Finishing all the bonus challenges unlocks the 21st Challenge (Play It Again, Son). If you want to finish it, dont worry- you dont have to sit down for 6 or 7 hours straight to complete it, it saves in the current room you get up to when you quit. Once you finish Challenge 21 you unlock the original E3 Demo and a deleted scene. They are located in the 'Replay StoryBook' section. Oh, you also get gold trim on the speech screens. :p Some people have emailed me about the Ghoulie Key in Krackpots Lab, so I thought Id tell you all how to get it. When you find the Vamp, kill a Skeleton so the Reaper appears and get him to touch it (the Vampire).
