Version 1.00 (September 4th, 2018) - The guide has been completed. __________________________________________________________________________ /\ /\ >< -- INTRODUCTION -- >< \/__________________________________________________________________________\/ This guide was not made as a walkthrough for the game, but to cover some of the more technical details/aspects of the game, including: - Player stats. - Combat mechanics - Equipment & Inventory - Locations - Spells - Enemies & Bosses - Possible glitches __________________________________________________________________________ /\ /\ >< -- PLAYER STATS. -- >< \/__________________________________________________________________________\/ _____________________________ HP & MP RECOVERY HP & MP recovery appears to be based off what room you are in. It is not affected by level, equipment, special items, etc. Given that Lagoon is a fairly linear game, they ramp up the HP & MP recovery as the room ID # gets higher. Essentially, the further along the game you are, the faster your HP & MP recovers while standing still. This differs from the SNES version which uses a fixed rate for the entire game. HP and MP recovers at (roughly): - 2.37 and 0.67 points per second at the beginning of the game (Gold Cave) - 6.10 and 2.38 points per second at the end of the game (SNES, Secret Place) MP recovers at (roughly): - 28% of the rate of HP at the beginning of the game. - 36% of the rate of HP at the end of the game. HP and MP recovers MUCH faster in a town setting. To recover HP & MP, is important to both stay still and not have your sword drawn. HP and MP cannot be recovered in boss rooms, even after the boss has been defeated. ____________________________ EXPERIENCE / LEVELING UP The leveling up system is nearly identical between both versions of the game; the only difference being the amount of EXP required to reach levels 15 and 16. The data is sorted in-game by level, so the stats. for level 2 are all kept together, then level 3, etc. The only note of interest in the X68K version is that the "Level 1" data is kept separate as part of the information used to setup a New Game. ______________________________________________________________________________ Level HP MP STR DEF EXPERIENCE (NEXT) (DIFFERENCE) ______________________________________________________________________________ 1 10 3 10 5 10 0 2 17 8 13 10 40 +30 3 23 10 17 16 90 +50 4 28 12 22 19 170 +80 5 36 19 26 23 280 +110 6 43 22 30 26 400 +120 7 54 27 34 31 560 +160 8 63 30 38 36 750 +190 9 68 34 41 40 970 +220 10 75 38 47 43 1230 +260 11 89 46 53 49 1530 +300 12 96 57 58 53 1880 +350 13 119 63 61 57 2290 +410 14 126 76 65 62 2810 +520 15 142 81 69 68 3450 +640 16 148 93 76 75 4180 +730 17 153 114 83 79 5050 +870 18 160 123 89 83 6000 +950 19 169 138 96 90 7180 +1180 20 174 145 117 101 8590 +1410 21 180 151 124 110 10280 +1690 22 184 157 135 124 12250 +1970 23 187 162 142 137 14460 +2210 24 192 171 148 142 17240 +2780 25 201 179 157 150 20470 +3230 26 208 185 163 161 24200 +3730 27 210 192 176 172 28370 +4170 28 213 199 183 184 33060 +4690 29 219 213 189 193 38040 +4980 30 221 219 211 203 43240 +5200 31 228 227 224 212 48800 +5560 32 231 236 237 223 54710 +5910 33 239 240 243 231 60830 +6120 34 248 245 247 243 65535 +4705 35 255 255 255 255 0 0 __________________________________________________________________________ /\ /\ >< -- COMBAT -- >< \/__________________________________________________________________________\/ The formulae are based on considerable trial and error, leaving a possibility that some values are incorrect. ____________________________ WEAPON DAMAGE Final Damage = Random( 0 -> (Player STR - Enemy DEF) ) Damage is random between 0 and the maximum STR value after enemy DEF is factored in (final value). There seems to be some issues with how the final value is generated. For a final value of 10 and up, it is fairly common for the maximum possible damage to be a little shy of the highest value. Values below 10 appear to be quite an inconsistent mess, leaving most of them with final maximums of 1, 4 and 7 until 8 and higher. _____________________________ SPELL DAMAGE Final Damage = (Spell Base Dmg. x Resistance/Weakness) - (Enemy Defense /4) Example: Using WATER RUSH against NUTER Final Damage = (229 x 1/2) - (205 / 4) = 63 _____________________________ NOTES - All fractions are rounded down. - Minimum value for damage is always 0. - Since sword and armor upgrades offers a considerable boost to attack and defense power, it is important to obtain them as soon as possible upon entering a dungeon. - Enemy projectiles use the weapon damage formula to determine final damage against the player. __________________________________________________________________________ /\ /\ >< -- EQUIPMENT & INVENTORY -- >< \/__________________________________________________________________________\/ All items listed are posted in English and are based off a loose translation. Hit - Size of their hit box (higher number = bigger target). Atk - Physical attack range (higher number = easier time hitting the player). STR - Strength. Unit's attack damage. DEF - Defense. Unit's defense. EXP - Experience Earned. GP - Gold collected. Fire - Fire Resistance / Weakness. Wind - Wind Resistance / Weakness. Water- Water Resistance / Weakness. Lit. - Lightning Resistance / Weakness. The enemies are sorted by location and have their various stats. listed. In addition to enemies, attacks and projectiles are also given their own set of values. The magic resistance/weakness is shown as either a multiplier or a fraction. If neither are shown, elemental attacks do normal damage. Examples: -- means normal damage. x2 means an enemy unit will rake twice as much base damage from a certain element. 1/4 means the target will take a quarter the base damage. Contrary to the SNES version, spells can be used during boss battles. ** - Denotes a boss. ++ - EARDON's game data shows it's HP should be at 200, but during gameplay a bar for 150 HP is used. ______________________________________________________________________________ NAME HP Hit Atk STR DEF EXP GP Fire Wind Water Lit. ---- GOLD MINE DRO 12 15 8 24 9 1 2 -- -- -- -- CRIL 15 9 7 22 10 2 3 -- -- -- -- CHIPHON 24 9 7 35 16 3 4 -- -- -- -- SAMSON ** 64 20 15 45 42 64 100 -- -- -- -- ---- ELF FIELD TICK 44 14 8 61 35 3 3 -- -- -- -- BUNE 30 12 6 48 30 4 3 -- -- -- -- ---- PHILIPS CASTLE ROPUTO 60 12 8 97 45 6 3 -- -- -- -- REVIE 55 12 8 73 37 4 5 x2 -- -- -- * Bullet -- 6 7 73 37 -- -- -- -- -- -- SAVAGE 50 14 8 70 40 6 5 -- -- -- -- GREGORY 60 12 7 63 43 5 5 -- -- -- -- CRUD 69 12 8 133 52 6 5 -- -- -- -- HAURU 65 12 8 93 52 7 5 -- -- -- -- NATELA ** 100 24 28 134 71 250 500 -- -- -- -- * Bullet -- 6 7 138 71 -- -- -- -- -- -- ---- DWARF DESERT ROCK 75 12 8 154 90 10 10 1/3 -- -- -- * Bullet -- 5 6 150 100 -- -- -- -- -- -- HUNTER_WOLF 74 11 8 171 88 9 5 -- -- -- -- ---- DWARF CAVE MAGIE 85 9 7 182 80 16 5 1/129 x2 -- -- BIZARL 100 13 8 201 121 20 10 1/129 x2 -- -- * Bullet -- 4 4 180 140 -- -- -- -- -- -- EARDON ** ++ 150 48 52 220 120 500 800 1/129 1/2 -- -- * Bullet -- 7 8 180 -- -- -- -- -- -- -- * Bullet -- 6 7 184 -- -- -- -- -- -- -- ______________________________________________________________________________ NAME HP Hit Atk STR DEF EXP GP Fire Wind Water Lit. ---- HOBBIT VALLEY NONDIETTO 110 14 8 250 138 30 6 -- -- -- -- * Axe -- 7 7 245 -- -- -- -- -- -- -- ZUDABVOU 95 15 8 227 130 22 5 x2 -- -- -- ---- SIEGFRID CASTLE MIKKY 145 15 8 262 170 40 7 -- -- -- -- ANGELASSU 130 14 8 252 162 52 8 -- -- -- -- GUSTAVU 120 11 8 255 145 30 7 1/2 -- -- -- ELUMERUTERGIE 44 12 9 264 208 35 1 1/129 x2 1/129 1/129 REVOCK 110 14 8 290 145 60 8 1/2 x2 -- -- * Beam -- 2 2 290 135 -- -- -- -- -- -- KIEZER 135 12 8 300 190 80 9 1/129 1/2 1/129 1/129 DUMA ** 240 28 8 299 185 800 300 1/2 1/2 1/129 1/129 * Bullet -- 6 7 315 -- -- -- -- -- -- -- * Hand -- 10 12 335 -- -- -- -- -- -- -- ---- ICE CAVE NUTER 100 13 8 299 205 120 2 x2 -- 1/2 -- * Bullet -- 5 6 299 -- -- -- -- -- -- -- HELLIONES 145 10 8 318 182 80 10 x2 -- -- -- THIMALE 300 30 23 375 215 1500 1000 -- 1/129 1/129 1/129 * Pod 4096 13 8 315 217 -- -- 1/129 1/129 1/129 1/129 * Ice -- 4 6 340 -- -- -- -- -- -- -- ---- PHANTOM HILL ORUTON 150 12 8 330 132 90 5 -- -- -- -- ______________________________________________________________________________ NAME HP Hit Atk STR DEF EXP GP Fire Wind Water Lit. ---- LAGOON CASTLE FLYOKUTO 160 12 8 330 221 130 5 -- -- -- -- BROL 175 12 8 333 219 140 5 -- -- 1/3 -- FOOLISHARUKAN 145 15 8 335 202 150 7 1/129 1/129 1/129 1/129 SAGITERL 185 13 8 370 238 200 7 1/2 -- 1/2 -- D-CLINE 170 13 8 350 218 160 7 1/3 1/3 1/3 1/2 * Bullet -- 7 7 340 -- -- -- -- -- -- -- KILLERKNIGHT DAME 190 14 8 370 241 250 8 -- -- -- -- EDOGER 210 22 13 414 273 300 7 1/2 x2 1/2 1/2 * Bullet -- 5 5 414 273 -- -- -- -- -- -- BISHAMON 300 20 16 416 273 350 8 1/2 1/2 1/2 1/2 BATTLER ** 650 10 7 400 310 3000 1500 1/8 1/4 1/4 1/2 * Aid #1 & 2 650 12 7 415 310 -- -- 1/129 1/129 1/129 1/129 * Bullet -- 4 5 415 -- -- -- -- -- -- -- ---- SECRET PLACE SADOWIEE 200 13 8 420 235 350 7 1/129 1/129 1/129 -- EXELLIAN 230 12 8 435 250 400 10 x3 1/129 1/129 1/2 U-T 410 15 11 428 315 5000 1000 1/129 1/129 1/129 1/4 * U-T Shell 4096 39 48 428 315 0 0 1/5 1/4 1/3 1/2 * Bullet --- 4 4 460 -- -- -- -- -- -- -- THOR ** 400 14 8 455 330 0 0 1/129 1/129 1/129 1/4 * Bullet --- 4 5 461 -- -- -- -- -- -- -- * Pool 255 9 5 800 330 -- -- -- -- -- -- _____________________________ NOTES - The unusual fraction of 1/129 has been confirmed with tests involving increasing a spell damage to 516 and reducing an enemy defense to 0. Simply stay away from it. - Once THOR reaches 200 HP, he transforms into his 2nd form. __________________________________________________________________________ /\ /\ >< -- POSSIBLE GLITCHES -- >< \/__________________________________________________________________________\/ There appears to be a possible looping problem with the healing ring. While equipped it is possible to loop from 255HP back to 0HP while it's still active, causing a Game Over. If the Time Ring is active upon entering a dungeon, monsters will not appear because they are drawn as they move on the map. They will 'technically' be there, but invisible until they can move. __________________________________________________________________________ /\ /\ >< -- LEGAL STUFF -- >< \/__________________________________________________________________________\/ Version 1.01 Guide Written By: Kuro-chan_101: kuro101@kuro-rpg.net This may be not be reproduced under any circumstances except for personal use.
