Introduction ############################################################################### Thank you for choosing to read my Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Master of the Cards/Duel Transer FAQ. I hope this guide gives you some assistance in completing this game. Beware of the spoilers, though. Master of the Cards/Duel Transer is the second Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's game for the Wii. The game has a large card pool with a total of 4523 cards, including cards up to the real-life OCG Starstrike Blast, Duel Terminal - Raid of the Inverz!!, Structure Deck 19: Dragunity Drive, and Extra Pack Volume 3 (TCG exclusives are included up to Absolute Powerforce). Unlike its predecessor, Wheelie Breakers, this game isn't a racing game and instead uses the OCG Master Rules. This game's storyline is a subplot that is loosely based on the anime, picking up sometime during the Dark Signers arc. The game features major characters from the anime and original characters exclusive to the game. The difficulty has been upped since WC2010 and becomes quite challenging early on, though it never gets as hard as other games such as Reshef of Destruction. ############################################################################### 2. Game Overview ############################################################################### This section overviews everything you should know prior to starting this game. I won't be giving any detail on the rules of the OCG/TCG because there is an in-game help glossary. There is also good info on the Wikipedia article Yugioh Trading Card Game - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yu-Gi-Oh!_Trading_Card_Game Note1: The above article isn't 100% accurate to this game, as a lot of changes have happened in the OCG/TCG since Duel Transer was released (you can't draw a card on your first turn being one recent example), but most of it is still relevant. Note2: You can activate Quick-Play spells and traps at various timings. By default, you will be asked if you want to activate your card when an attack is declared, your opponent's turn ends or the timing is right for your card's effect. However, if you hold B during phase progression, you can skip confirmation. If you hold A instead, you can activate your effect even when you're not asked. Note3: There are cards that are treated as having the same name as another card. This is defined as same card name usage. For example, in the card text for A Legendary Ocean it reads "The card's name is treated as Umi." The cards are also treated as having the same name when constructing a deck. Therefore, you can only have a combined total of 3 Umi and A Legendary Ocean in the deck. Note4: In this game, if you want to summon XYZ fusions (this also applies to Synchro Summoning and fusions done with Fusion Gate), move the cursor to your Extra Deck and select "Sp. Summon". Note5: If you want to see alternate artworks for cards such as Dark Magician and Obelisk the Tormentor, press C on the card's details to switch between artworks. =============================================================================== 3.01 - GAME CONTROLS =============================================================================== This game is played using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. No other controller options are supported. You don't need the Nunchuk most of the time, though, as it's only used for a few functions. If you remove the Nunchuk or don't have it plugged in, the game will say "Nunchuk is required", but you can still play the game fine without it. The +Control Pad isn't accurate at times when moving around the game board, though, so you're better off using the more precise Control Stick for that. +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | STORY MODE SCREEN | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Remote ------ +Control Pad: Move around the game board/Select option. A: Confirm/Scroll through messenges. B: Check map/Cancel. A + B (hold down): Fast forward through messages. Nunchuk ------- Control Stick: Move around the game board. C: Toggle duelist data on/off. +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | DECK EDIT SCREEN | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Remote ------ +Control Pad: Move cursor/Select option. A: Confirm/Move card. B: Cancel/Exit Deck Edit. +: Display Deck Edit Menu. -: Switch tab. 1: Display help glossary. 2: Change layout. Nunchuk ------- Control Stick: Move cursor/Select option. Nunchuk + Remote ---------------- C + up/down: Move cursor to each category in current sort order. C + left/right: Scroll through card text. Z + up: Do an initial search. Z + down: Reset an initial search. Z + A: Move card. +~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | DUEL SCREEN | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Remote ------ +Control Pad: Move cursor/Select option. A (hold down): Display card confirmation messages. B (hold down): Skip card confirmation messages. Nunchuk ------- Control Stick: Scroll through card text. +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | BANLIST SCREEN | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Nunchuk + Remote ---------------- Z + left: Sort cards. Z + right: Change banlists. You can also swing the Wii Remote to do the following actions: *Draw a card during the Draw Phase. *Synchro Summon a monster. =============================================================================== 3.02 - MAIN MENU =============================================================================== When you press A at the Title Screen, select New Game if you're playing for the first time. You must choose one of four save slots to record your game progress. Choose your name and appearance to represent the save file. You can't change these settings once you choose an avatar. At the Main Menu, there are 8 options to choose from. Note: Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection was discontinued on May 20, 2014, so this game's online features are no longer accessible. Story Mode ---------- If you want to start the game's story, select Story Mode. Check the Story Mode Walkthrough for more information. Deck Menu --------- If you want to create or modify a deck, select Deck Menu. You will then be able to start putting a deck together in 'Deck Edit'. I suggest using the filter/sort tools to narrow down your choices. The menu interface isn't as easy to navigate as the one in the DS games, though, since you can't point-and- click or drag-and-drop. In 'Recipe Viewer', you can view your recipes or character-specific ones. You can save up to 50 of your own recipes (Note: A deck isn't actually saved until you exit Deck Edit). You can load a character's recipe if you have the necessary amount of cards in your Trunk. Free Duel --------- Here, you can duel opponents of your choice as you please. People that you've dueled in Story Mode will be unlocked as Free Duel opponents once you buy their character-specific recipes from the Shop. You can configure duel settings (for example, a Single or Match duel format). You can also customize some opponents by purchasing more recipes. Shop ---- When you go to the Shop, you can buy card packs and recipes. DP is needed to buy them. You don't need to beat a duelist first to be able to unlock his/ her receipe. Press C to purchase 5 packs at a time, or press Z to buy 10 packs at once. As you progress through Story Mode and gain levels, new packs and recipes will become available. Status ------ Check Status to view just that. Your character's profile is displayed in the following order: Level, Card Details, Area, EXP/DP, and Wins/Losses/Ties. Options ------- Check Options to view just that. You can adjust messages, sounds and duel settings here. Database -------- Check Database to view the duelist data, card album, movie theater, help glossary and banlists. This game uses the March 2010 banlist by default, but you can obtain the later ones via Nintendo Wi-Fi. Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection ------------------------- If you want to check out this game's online features, select Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. On Wi-Fi, you can duel friends (people you've exchanged friend codes with), local players (anyone in your country/region) or players worldwide. You can also view leaderboards or download banlists. At the time of this writing, the September 2010 - March 2013 banlists are the DLC available. Just as with CPU duels, the winner and loser of a Wi-Fi duel will receive EXP and/or DP. Your rating will go up or down depending on the results. However, if you reset/turn off your Wii or disconnect in any other way during a Wi-Fi duel, you'll lose some DP and your rating will go down. =============================================================================== 3.03 - STARTER DECK =============================================================================== Playing as a male or female character determines your starter deck. The deck is somewhat based around Warriors, but there is only 1 copy of each Warrior- related card and is very mixed up with other cards. Nevertheless, it works well in the opening stage, Yggdrasil Entrance. =============================================================================== 3.04 - STAGE SCREEN =============================================================================== In this game, you compete against computerized opponents on a game board in Story Mode. You can check your PDA to see the following options from the Main Menu: Deck Edit, Free Duel, Database, Options, Status, and Shop. A new option, Suspend Game, allows you to save your progress in a stage so you can pick up from where you left off. To clear a stage, you must move your character to the Goal Panel. Spin the roulette to gain AP (AP is needed to move). You can move as far as AP allows, but not beyond an item or duelist. Moving on a Normal Panel uses 1 point of AP. Roulette Min and Max goes up by 1 if you gain 10 levels. This opens up the map so you can reach new places and items. When you spin the roulette on an item, the number on the item decreases and if it reaches zero, it disappears. If you land on a panel with an item, you can obtain a card or DP. Moving on a Slow Panel uses more AP than a Normal Panel. Moving on a Stop Panel uses up all of your AP. If you land on a panel with a duelist, a duel will begin. When you win a duel, you gain EXP and DP based on various bonuses. You also receive a small amount of DP if you lose. When you lose a duel, you can choose to try again or start over from the panel you were on previously. When you've accumulated a certain amount of EXP, you will gain a level (a throwback to Nightmare Troubadour and Spirit Caller). Levels indicate a duelist's strength. The greater the duelist's level, the higher the Duelist Bonus (eg. LV50 Odin has a Duelist Bonus of 1000). This game has a level cap of 50. There are Transcenders on each floor. In order to proceed to the next floor, you must defeat the Transcender. The requirements to challenge him are different for each floor. When you clear a stage, you'll receive DP. The amount of DP is determined by the number of items you picked up in the stage, your Roulette Spins and EXP gained. The items are listed below. Green Items: Some items have counters. When the roulette has been spun a certain number of times, they will disappear. ? Panel: This panel is uncovered after you move into a neighbouring panel. Time Panel: This panel collapses after spinning the roulette a set number of times. Enemy Panel: Spin the roulette a certain number of times to make a Transcender appear or reappear. Card Panel: This panel can be opened if you have a specific card. Lock Panel: This panel can be opened if you have a specific key. White AP +5 Items: AP is increased by 5 when you obtain one of these items. Red AP +10 Items: AP is increased by 10 when you obtain one of these items. They will not vanish no matter how many times the roulette is spun. =============================================================================== 3.05 - HINTS AND TIPS =============================================================================== This section lists hints and tips that should give you some assistance in progressing through the game. *You begin this game with a mediocre starter deck and 300 DP. The deck is somewhat based around Warriors, but there is only 1 copy of each Warrior- related card and is very mixed up with other cards. Nevertheless, it works well in Yggdrasil Entrance. Your best bet is to construct a simple beatdown deck with spells and traps as backup for the time being (The Duelist Genesis and Starter Deck 2010 have some good monsters and card destruction). You can also tweak your starter deck into a deck based more around Warriors (Warrior Toolbox and Synchro Warriors are viable options). When you unlock the Crossroads of Chaos, Crimson Crisis and Raging Battle packs, you can then build deck themes such as Plant Beatdown and Blackwing Swarm. You can also build Synchro Gadgets or Machina Gadgets with Special Pack 3. Once you unlock Light of Destruction, you can make a decent Lightsworn deck. Lightsworns are a luck-based theme in this game, though, since they got hit hard by the banlists from March 2010 onwards (although Pure Lightsworn and Twilight decks have become popular again recently due to the banlists from September 2011 onward). You can create a good Gladiator Beast deck from Gladiator's Assault. You can build a Scrap deck with Duelist Revolution (combining rather well with Lightsworns). You can make a Steelswarm deck with Hidden Arsenal 5. You can run a Six Samurai deck once you unlock Strike of Neos. Finally, you can make deck types like Macro Monarchs, Zombie Sworn, Gravekeepers, X-Sabers, Dragunity Swarm, Spellcaster Lockdown, Frog Monarchs and Plant Sworn when you have easier access to the necessary cards later on. If you're not sure how to construct a theme, you can use decks posted on websites like yugioh.tcgplayer.com and pojo.com or top tier AI decks as examples to help construct your own deck. Most good decks that you can make in Tag Force 5 or WC2011 should work well in this game. *You'll need to grind a bit to be able to buy new packs and strengthen your deck. If the opponents in a stage are too strong, I advise buying recipes of easier opponents and then challenging them repeatedly in Free Duel. You can also re-play the previous stages. If you get the 1500 DP from the item panel nearest to you at the start of Bifrost 2F, you can suspend your game and restart the stage to get the same DP indefinitely. It's a bit tedious (fast forwarding through messages can help), but it's still faster than dueling CPU opponents. As you gain levels, your Level Bonus will start to gradually increase, giving you more DP after each duel (you should get around 2000 DP each time when the Level Bonus reaches the maximum of 1500). *If you don't get any of the cards you want from the shop, I recommend resetting/turning off your Wii before leaving the shop. Since the game only saves once you exit it, you can re-load your last save to get your spent DP back. I suggest buying 5-10 packs at a time to have a better chance of getting the cards you want. *I advise having some synchros and tuners in your deck, as they can fit into nearly any deck theme. Stardust Dragon, Dark Strike Fighter, Red Dragon Archfiend, Queen of Thorns, Black Rose Dragon and Goyo Guardian are examples of great synchros. Psychic Commander, Krebons, Plaguespreader Zombie and Copy Plant are examples of great tuners. Psychic Commander and Krebons can also be Special Summoned with Emergency Teleport, giving you a chance of summoning a synchro in your first turn! *I advise having only a few tribute monsters in your deck, as they require tributes to be summoned. I'd recommend having a lot of non-tribute monsters to avoid getting an opening hand with only spells, traps and tribute ones. *Be wary of purchasing cards from the Dark Beginning and Dark Revelation packs. Although they have some great staple cards, it will take a lot of time or luck to get them, since there is a large amount of cards in the packs (a few staples can be found in other packs such as Starter Deck 2010, Special Pack 3 and Hidden Arsenal 1, fortunately). Dark Beginning 2 has the best cards of the bunch, so I advise buying from that pack first. *If you suspect that your opponent has a Trap Card face-down on the field, you can attack with a weak monster to set it off. That way, your strong monsters will be safe from its effect. Note that this strategy doesn't work against traps like Mirror Force and Torrential Tribute, since the Trap Cards can destroy all your monsters instead of just one. *When you are constructing your deck, I advise keeping the number of cards close to the minimum of 40. If you have fewer cards in your deck, you'll have a better chance of drawing the card you want. I recommend having a balanced ratio of 2:1 in monsters versus spells and traps to make planning strategies easier. *If you suspect your opponent has a Flip Effect Monster face-down on the field, you can use Nobleman of Crossout to destroy the monster and remove it from play. The opponent must then check his/her deck and remove all monsters of the same name from play. *The effect of Book of Moon changes one face-up monster on the field to face-down defence position. The card can be used in 5 ways: 1) Use a Flip Effect again. 2) If you use it when your opponent's monster attacks, you can stop the attack and change the monster to its likely weaker defence position. 3) If you use it when an opponent activates a destruction trap such as Mirror Force, you can stop your monster from being destroyed. 4) You can remove an Equip Spell. 5) You can flip an opponent's tuner face-down to stop him/her from doing a Synchro Summon. *Enemy Controller can be used in 3 ways: 1) Steal an opponent's monster for a variety of purposes. 2) Change an opponent's monster to defence/attack position. 3) If you use it when your opponent's monster attacks, you can stop the attack and change the monster to its likely weaker defence position. *Creature Swap can be used in 2 ways: 1) Exchange a weak monster for an opponent's strong one. 2) Give your opponent a monster such as Pyramid Turtle that you can then destroy easily to gain card advantage. *Cards such as Scapegoat and Dandylion can Special Summon tokens to be used as fodder for cards like Enemy Controller and Creature Swap. *Monsters such as Command Knight, Magician's Valkyria and Solar Flare Dragon cannot be attacked if 2 or more copies of them are on your field. Therefore, your opponent can't declare an attack, hindering his/her strategy. If you face these monsters, use monster destruction such as Lightning Vortex and Raigeki Break to take them out. *If your opponent has strong Defence Position monsters on the field, I advise using cards such as Enemy Controller, Drillroid, Final Attack Orders, Shield Crush, Fissure and Smashing Ground to get around them. *Monsters such as Marshmallon, Spirit Reaper and Arcana Force 0 - The Fool can't be destroyed by battle. You can use these monsters to stall an opponent. *Once per turn, you can flip Guardian Sphinx into face-down defence position during your Main Phase. When this card is Flip Summoned, all monsters on your opponent's side of the field are returned to the owner's hand. Guardian Sphinx can be used to remove monsters and Equip Spells. *When Giant Germ/Nimble Momonga is sent to the Graveyard as a result of battle, you can Special Summon up to 2 monsters of the same name from your deck to your side of the field. These monsters can be used as tribute fodder to summon strong ones. *The effect of Rush Recklessly/Shrink/Honest/Burden of the Mighty can be used to make your monsters stronger than your opponent's attack/defence position ones. If you use Rush Recklessly/Shrink/Honest when the opponent's monster attacks, you can counterattack to destroy his/her monster as long as your monster is stronger. *Kunai with Chain can be used to change an opponent's monster to its likely weaker defence position and make monsters such as Gadgets strong enough to destroy them. *The effect of Smashing Ground destroys 1 face-up monster with the highest DEF on your opponent's side of the field. Fissure and Widespread Ruin do the same thing to 1 monster with the lowest and highest ATK, respectively. The cards can be used to remove any monster if your opponent only has one monster on the field, giving you the chance to attack him/her directly. *When Witch of the Black Forest is sent from the field to the Graveyard, you can select 1 monster with a DEF of 1500 or less in your deck and add it to your hand. This effect can be used to acquire handy monsters like Jinzo and Summoned Skull. Sangan does the same thing for monsters with an ATK of 1500 or less such as D.D. Warrior Lady and Magician of Faith. *The effect of Graceful Charity allows you to draw 3 cards from your deck, then discard any 2 from your hand. This effect can be used to discard a monster to the Graveyard and then Special Summon it to the field via resurrection spells like Call of the Haunted and Monster Reborn. *When you are placing spells/traps on the field, try to only have 1-2 in your spell/trap zone at a time. That way, if the opponent uses spells like Heavy Storm, Mystical Space Typhoon and Giant Trunade, you won't lose a lot of cards. Threatening Roar and Waboku can be used to stop your opponent from attacking that turn. *Some duelists in a stage are optional. If you want, you can ignore them for the time being and duel them later on to get their recipes. *Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning (BLS), Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End (CED) and Chaos Sorcerer are monsters that can be Special Summoned by removing 1 Light and 1 Dark monster in your Graveyard from play. The Envoys boast a huge 3000 ATK and game-ending effects. Chaos Sorcerer doesn't have a game-ending effect, but it's still a good monster removal card. Since the above monsters can be summoned at next to no cost, their effects can be used to overwhelm the opponent. These monsters really shine in decks that are centred around Light and Dark such as Twilight and Zombie Sworn. *Painful Choice or Sixth Sense can be used to send cards from your deck to the Graveyard. This effect really shines in decks such as Lightsworn and Zombies. *When Dark Magician of Chaos is Normal or Special Summoned, you can select 1 spell from your Graveyard and return it to your hand. If this card destroys a monster by battle, that monster is removed from play instead of going to the Graveyard. This card can be used in 2 ways: 1) Re-play spells like Swords of Revealing Light and Reinforcement of the Army 2) You can remove monsters (eg. Giant Germ) from play to avoid triggering their effects. *The effect of Magical Scientist can be combined with that of Catapult Turtle to pull off a OTK. The OTK involves using no more than 7 Level 6 Fusion Monsters whose total ATK is no less than 14700. You tribute all 7 FusionS with 2200 ATK. You then tribute Magical Scientist and Catapult Turtle, dealing 8350 in total. *Butterfly Dagger - Elma can be equipped to Gearfried the Iron Knight to pull off a OTK in an Exodia deck. Royal Magical Library gains a counter and Butterfly Dagger - Elma is sent to the graveyard due to Gearfried's effect,
which is immediately sent back to your hand. You repeat this process while drawing a card every 3 times thanks to Royal Magical Library's effect. Theoretically, you can draw your entire deck, along with Exodia, and win the duel. *I suggest having some cards ready such as Seven Tools of the Bandit, Dark Bribe, Solemn Judgment, My Body as a Shield and Stardust Dragon to counter the effects of traps. Also, try using spell/trap destruction cards such as Harpie's Feather Duster, Heavy Storm and Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy them. *I recommend using the September 2010 banlist, as some cards on the March 2010 one are no longer banned or are less restricted such as Dark Hole, Monster Reborn, Mystical Space Typhoon, Cyber Dragon, etc. *Summoner Monk can be used to Special Summon a 4-star tuner from your deck, giving you a chance of summoning an 8-star synchro in your first turn! *Leo uses a Morphtronic deck to swarm the field and create lockdowns. Cards such as Final Attack Orders, System Down, Chimeratech Fortress Dragon, King Tiger Wanghu, Skill Drain and Tribe-Infecting Virus are useful against him. *Some opponents use Gadget-themed decks. Cards such as Deck Devastation Virus, Chimeratech Fortress Dragon, System Down, Pulling the Rug, Divine Wrath, King Tiger Wanghu, Skill Drain and Tribe-Infecting Virus are useful counters. *Some opponents use Anti-Meta decks. Deck themes such as SkillDrain Beatdown and Perfect Herald are good against them. *Hunter Pace uses a Zombie Deck based on Burning Skulls. Since his deck takes advantage of the Graveyard, cards such as Dimensional Fissure, Macro Cosmos, Banisher of the Radiance and Prime Material Dragon are useful against him. *Some opponents use Monarch decks. Cards such as Divine Wrath, Raigeki Break, Bottomless Trap Hole, Trap Hole, Pulling the Rug, Pollinosis, Mind Over Matter, Book of Moon and Enemy Controller are good counters. You could also try using your own Monarch deck (Macro Monarchs are a great theme to run). *Crow uses a Blackwing deck to swarm the field. Cards such as Shadow- Imprisoning Mirror, Consecrated Light, Thunder King Rai-Oh, Torrential Tribute, Blackwing - Sirocco the Dawn and Tribe-Infecting Virus are useful against him. *Some opponents use stall decks. Destruction cards such as Mystical Space Typhoon, Heavy Storm, Twister, Dust Tornado and Raigeki Break are good for countering this theme. *Although Ritual Monsters are hard to summon, cards such as Advanced Ritual Art, Djinn Releaser of Rituals and Djinn Presider of Rituals make doing this much easier. Geartown Demise OTK is one example of a good Ritual deck. *I advise having some monster removal, resurrection and disruptive cards in your deck, as they can fit into nearly any deck theme. Some examples of these cards are listed below. Resurrection: Premature Burial, Monster Reborn, Call of the Haunted Removal: Fissure, Smashing Ground, Widespread Ruin, Exiled Force, D.D. Warrior Lady, Sakuretsu Armor, Mirror Force, Bottomless Trap Hole, Raigeki Break, Dimensional Prison, Trap Hole Disruptive: Compulsory Evacuation Device, Reflect Bounder, Mask of Weakness, Rush Recklessly, Shrink, Zero Gravity, Scrap-Iron Scarecrow *Sinister Serpent can be used with cards, such as Lightning Vortex, Abyss Soldier and Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier, to make discard costs practically costless. *If your opponent specialises in using certain monster types, you can use Tribe-Infecting Virus to clear the field of them. *The effect of Tsukuyomi also changes one face-up monster on the field to face-down defence position. This card returns to the owner's hand during the End Phase, making it difficult to destroy. It can be used in 4 ways: 1) Use a Flip Effect again. 2) Change a monster to its likely weaker defence position. 3) You can remove an Equip Spell. 4) Use with Creature Swap to steal an opponent's monster while giving him/her Tsukuyomi. *Have only 2-3 monsters on your field at a time. That way, if an opponent activates spell/trap destruction cards, you won't lose a lot of monsters. *A few opponents use Discard Decks. A Lightsworn deck works well against them. Also, cards such as Skill Drain, Royal Command, Nobleman of Crossout, Chain Disappearance, Light of Intervention and Exchange of the Spirit are useful. *Whether or not you win a duel can depend on your opening hand or your opponent's. If he/she gets a bad hand or you get a good one, winning should be easier. If the opponent gets a good hand, winning will be harder, as he/she'll probably play a lot of cards to catch you offguard in the first few turns, though he/she might run out of cards to play for a while if he/she uses up a lot of them straight away. *Sasuke Samurai is good for destroying your opponent's face-down Defence Position monsters, especially ones with flip effects. *Ring of Destruction can be used to inflict major LP damage with a high ATK or powered-up monster (eg. Maha Vailo) to win a duel or end it in a draw. A few duelists use the card, so watch out. *High ATK non-tribute monsters with negative effects such as Jirai Gumo and Goblin Attack Force are good defenders if you don't want to attack with them. *You can discard a Skull-Mark Ladybug from your hand to pay a cost for another card (eg. Raigeki Break) and still gain 1,000 LP. *Emergency Provisions can be chained to the activation of your other spells and/or traps such as Poison of the Old Man and Reckless Greed to gain even more LP. *Copycat can be used in 3 ways: 1) Copy an opponent's strongest monster. 2) As it's a level 1 monster, it can attack freely even if Gravity Bind is on the field. 3) Works well with Luminous Spark. ############################################################################### 4. Story Mode Walkthrough ############################################################################### If this is your first time playing Story Mode, the prologue will begin and the first stage will start automatically. If you already have saved data, you'll be taken to the Stage Select screen. If you have suspended data, you can start a stage from where you left off by selecting Continue. If you would like to restart the stage, choose New Game. At first, you can only choose one building, 'Yggdrasil', but as you complete buildings, you'll unlock new ones. Each building is divided into stages. You can re-play all the stages. Note1: When you select New Game or choose another stage, any suspended data will be erased. Note2: As this section is primarily a walkthrough, I won't be giving much detail on in-depth info such as maps and items, as they're covered elsewhere in mister_jmp's Story Mode Guide. Note3: You'll face stronger versions of deck types as you progress through the stages. For example, Azika uses stronger versions of her Plant deck as you make your way through Story Mode. =============================================================================== 4.01 - YGGDRASIL =============================================================================== =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Entrance =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Special Rule: N/A DUELIST DATA _______________________________________________________________________ | Name | Deck Type | Level | Difficulty | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Zanny | Turtles | LV2 | Easy | | Trudge | Mixed/Disruption | LV4 | Normal | | Larry | Weak | LV1 | Easy | | Rathie | Spellcasters | LV5 | Normal | | Chief | Iron Chains | LV3 | Normal | | Nathan | Ally of Justices | LV5 | Normal | | MC | Luck | LV2 | Normal | | Carly | Fortune Ladies | LV25 | Normal | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ Note1: This stage is a good training ground, as the opponents here shouldn't give you much trouble. After the credits roll, your end-game progress will be saved. =============================================================================== 4.03 - NIFLHEIMR =============================================================================== Since you have beaten the Final Boss, you can re-load your last save to access a new building called Niflheimr. This bonus dungeon is full of just Transcenders. It gets tiresome after a while, as you'll face similar decks over and over again, but it's not that bad in small doses and a lot of duels are skippable anyway. You can find the hardest duelists in the game here, as most high-level Transcenders in Niflheimr use horrific decks that are banned in real life (a throwback to Shadow World from WCT2005). They have up to 3 copies of Forbidden, Limited and Semi-Limited Cards, including multiple copies of game-breaking banned cards such as Harpie's Feather Duster and Crush Card Virus. Some duels are easy, though, as the CPU uses cards wrongly sometimes. At least you are allowed to have 1 Forbidden Card in your deck, so now would be a good time to acquire a lot of great cards from the Random Pack (it gives you mostly cards that you don't have or have the least amount of). It's worth it getting a 80-90% completion ratio for the pack, as this is an easy way to receive powerful banned/restricted cards that were hard to pull before. Once you get a 90% completion ratio for Random Pack, you're better off searching other packs for the cards you want, as the Random Pack will mostly give you cards that you already have from this point and the colossal amount of cards in the pack will make obtaining new cards or multiple copies of acquired ones extremely difficult. I used a Lightsworn deck with Painful Choice to breeze through most duels in Niflhemir. I used a Perfect Herald or SkillDrain Beatdown when faced with a few Anti-Meta decks. I used a Wanghu Stun deck to handle Elemental Hero and Synchro decks. Wanghu Stun also worked well for me against a lot of Transcenders. Note: Bruno, Sherry LeBlanc, Elsworth, Lawton, Andre, Breo, Jean, Lester, Primo and Jakob are unlocked without having to buy their deck recipes from the Shop. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 1F =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= DUELIST DATA _______________________________________________________________________ | Name | Deck Type | Level | Difficulty | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Transcender | Beasts | LV25 | Hard | | Transcender | X-Sabers | LV20 | Hard | | Transcender | Majestic Mechs | LV30 | Hard | | Transcender | Skill Drain | LV35 | Hard | | Transcender | Batterymen | LV20 | Normal | | Transcender | Frogs | LV25 | Normal | | Transcender | Dragons | LV50 | Hard | | Transcender | Exodia | LV40 | Normal | | Transcender | Exodia | LV40 | Normal | | Transcender | Skull Servant | LV45 | Normal | | Transcender | Gladiator Beasts | LV40 | Hard | | Transcender | Unions | LV25 | Hard | | Transcender | Gadgets | LV35 | Hard | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ Note: You can acquire LV2 and LV3 key cards from Transcender (Gladiator Beasts), Transcender (Dragons) or Transcender (Unions). He runs a Lightsworn deck with multiple copies of banned/restricted cards such as Painful Choice, Graceful Charity, Monster Reborn, Harpie's Feather Duster, Charge of the Light Brigade, etc. This deck sounds extremely difficult to beat, but it's actually quite easy if you make a stall deck with cards such as Threatening Roar, Waboku, Starlight Road, Battle Fader, Effect Veiler and Swift Scarecrow to stall him until he decks out. Note2: The goal panel and Tattered Journal 5 are on the centre-right side of the floor. You probably won't be able to open the yellow lock panel on the centre in time with a LV2 key card, so you'll have to open the blue one on the top- right with a LV1 key card instead. Note3: You can acquire a LV1 key card from Transcender (Deck name: Ineffective Seal) on the bottom-right. You can obtain a LV2 key card from LV50 Transcender on the top-right, Transcender (Deck name: X-Calibur) or on a panel to the top- left. You can get a LV3 key card from Transcender (Deck name: Kings of Apocolypse). Note4: For clearing this final stage, you unlock Jakob along with his Scrap recipe in Free Duel. Card panels for all stages are also unlocked (credited to SOLDIER_Bankai). And that's about it. There's nothing much else to do in the game other than improving your deck, re-playing the stages again, unlocking the remaining packs, etc. ############################################################################### 5. Starter Deck 2010, Dark Revelation 4, Random Pack, 5D's Pack, Gallery Pack, Favorites Pack 1/2, Comic Series 1/2, Konami Pack and Collection Pack 3 are available on all floors permanently. Premium Pack, Limited Edition Pack, Special Pack 1/2/3, Dark Revelation 1/2/3, Rare Card Pack and Premium Card Pack are only always available when you meet their unlock requirements consecutively. The availability of all other packs is determined by what floor in Story Mode you're on. As you progress through Story Mode and reach specific levels, though, packs that have requirements or are tied to specific floors will become permanently unlocked. When you reach LV30, all the main real-life boosters (from Power of the Duelist to Starstrike Blast) will always be available. When you clear Niflheimr 18F, Collection Pack 1/2, Premium Pack, Limited Edition Pack and Special Pack 1/2/3 will always be available. When you reach LV50, all other packs will always be available (credited to Astaroth136). Astaroth136 found that a quick way to reach LV50 is to buy a few LV50 recipes and fight them over and over. Astaroth136 thinks the Immoral Over LV50 recipe is the easiest. Below are his reasons why: 1. The deck is FULL of monsters, many of which are high leveled. Thus, the AI often starts with a mediocre hand. 2. When the AI actually gets a decent hand, it tends to spend all resources on getting out a 10,000+ ATK Machine monster. Dark Hole, Smashing Ground, or Fissure can instantly destroy that monster. However, instead of destroying it, astaroroth136 used #3... 3. Magic Cylinder or Dimension Wall can be an instant win for you, but be wary of the three Harpies Feather Dusters in the deck. Its deck also runs Jinzo, but he's rarely out on the field, and when he is, it's usually only for one turn. Astaroth136 ran a Vengeful Servant deck, taking control of his monster (with Mind Control or Enemy Controller) and equipping it with V.S. Or, he used Creature Swap and won with a single attack. [End of input by Astaroth136] I think the Ineffective Seal recipe is the easiest because the CPU gets a bad opening hand most of the time and often makes silly mistakes. The following info is credited to daveyinaz and his gf: I told my gf about expansion packs sticking around after you got past level 30 while I was at level 27 and she was at 19 and she came out with an awesome method of quickly gaining levels. Of course, you have to not mind having a big loss record. Do a free duel with level 30 or 50 duelist and set the turn timer to 30 seconds, you can remove the display detail confirmation to make the CPU's turn faster, then just let your turn run out. Since you are dueling a higher level than yourself you will get something like 180 exp for the loss and it takes only 1000 to gain a level. I don't like the losing record part so I beat Transcenders till I got Odin's level 50 deck. Now I free duel her and set the Life points to 2000. I made a Level Builder deck consisting of direct damage cards like Ookazi, Tremendous Fire, Hinotama, Secret Barrel, with no monsters and it's usually a one turn kill. I get 120 Exp. for that. So really there is a trade off between these two methods, but I think they are pretty rad and wanted others to know since it seems faster than doing the way it says in the walkthrough Tails333 put out. If I beat Odin, she gives me about 500 exp with 8000. So 500 divided by 4 is 125, which is close enough to 120 which is what you get when you duel with 2000 LP. The reason I suggested 2000 was to ensure the victory, you get two tremendous fire cards in your hand and it's over in two card activations, which puts the time to beat down under 30 seconds, while putting it at 4000, might take a round or two depending on the cards you get. [End of input by daveyinaz and his gf] The following info is written by Videospieler: You should also keep in mind that when you set the starting LP to 2000, you're only getting 1/4 of the normal Exp you would otherwise get. And when starting with 4000 LP, you're only getting 1/2 of the normal Exp you would otherwise get. I've dueled Larry before starting with 2000 LP and I only got 5 Exp instead 20 Exp. I've found the Chant of Magic Transcender fairly easy, when he uses Reasoning choose 8 for the level and make sure to keep track of how many of that card remain in his deck. As he only has 5 monsters total, 3 level 8 monster and 2 level 5 monsters. Just be careful about summoning a monster in attack position while his Junk Collector is on the field and he has one or more Ring of Destruction in his graveyard. I've beaten this Transcender while only setting monsters. As this guide is primarily a walkthrough, I've listed the most noteworthy cards in this card list rather than listing every single one. Since the cards collected from some packs have direct correlation to real-life sets, I decided not to give spoiler card lists of most real-life sets because you can check yugioh.wikia.com for those (I included card lists of reprints, as there are a lot of good staples in them and their contents aren't fully covered by yugioh.wikia.com). All the main boosters (from Power of the Duelist to Starstrike Blast) and reprints (from Dark Beginning 1 to Dark Revelation 4) are identical to their real-life counterparts released for the TCG (aside from TCG exclusives post-Absolute Powerforce). Starter Deck 2010 is the TCG version (Duelist Toolbox) and is treated as a pack in this game. The Hidden Arsenal packs are identical to the TCG/OCG Duel Terminals as follows: Hidden Arsenal 1 - Duel Terminal 1 (TCG) Hidden Arsenal 2 - Duel Terminal 2 (TCG) Hidden Arsenal 3 - Duel Terminal 3 (TCG) Hidden Arsenal 4 - Duel Terminals - Charge of the Genex/Pulse of the Trishula Hidden Arsenal 5 - Duel Terminals - Vairon Descends!!/Raid of the Inverz!! You can also do the following actions to find out what pack(s) a card is in (assuming that you've unlocked the pack(s) in question): *If you already have 1 copy of the card you want, you can view its details. *If an opponent has any of the cards you want in his/her deck, you can view their details (it's easily done by viewing a character's recipe). *If the card you want is on a banlist, you can check the banlist for details. *You can use Prohibition, D.D. Designator, Archfiend's Oath or Mind Crush to view the details of all cards available in this game (use C + up/down/left/ right to scroll through the card list quicker, and press + to read a highlighted card's details). My Decks ############################################################################### This section details some of my main decks. They all follow the March 2010 banlist. I don't know if they're all good competitively online (I'm not an expert duelist), but they've done well against CPU opponents. Tattered Journal ############################################################################### The Tattered Journal was written by an unnamed head scientist. This section details its five entries that can be found in Niflheimer. These entries give information about a tragedy, which sets off a chain of events leading to this game's plot. Thanks to Zero Saber for typing the entries up. The following info is credited to Zero Saber: I typed these up during my run through Niflheimer and figured I'd post them in case anyone wanted to read them: Tattered Journal 1: I finally found it… What I’ve spent so many years of my life searching for… I actually exists. It’s not just a fairytale… It’s real. This joy… Each day, hour, and even second of my time here filled with happiness will be recorded for posterity. I have to thank all of my colleagues, who believed in me, no matter how much I was criticized by others. Also, my wife, who passed away believing that all of my research would one day be rewarded. I love you so much. And lastly… To Alina, the dearest person to me in this world… I must thank you also. I’m not sure why she decided to forgive me… She was so critical of me when her mother passed away, but now she accompanies me on my research trips. I know I was not the best of fathers. In fact, nor was I a good husband or even a good boss. But now, with this accomplishment, I feel like I can start to change all of that. I no longer have the need to travel the world. Here, on this Ragnarok Island where gods descend, I can stay and study with my trusted friends and my dear daughter. Our futures are filled with beautiful possibilities! Now, let us boldly step into out destinies! Tattered Journal 2: This island is everything I expected it to be. Two years have passed since we first reached the shores of Ragnarok. There are perilous currents surrounding this island, so unless extremely lucky, I doubt anyone else will set foot here. There will be no one to disturb us. We can freely go about our research to our hearts’ content. Our work is about to go to the next stage. We have
meticulously researched almost every inch of the island’s surface. What we’ve
yet to study is the soaring tower that can be seen from every corner of this
place. According to old documents, this building used to be called Yggdrasil.
Yggdrasil is the name of a tree, which in Norse mythology is called the “world
tree” and is considered to represent the world itself. On this island,
Yggdrasil resembles more a tower built to rival the dwellings of the gods than
a world tree. Yggdrasil was likely to have been build (built) by an ancient
civilization as a challenge to the gods. However, we cannot definitively
comment on the outcome of their challenge. But according to some documents
we’ve come across, it seems they had at least some success. Those with the
highest power on this island used magic to transform gods into mere dolls.
Various artifacts found on the island confirm such lore. The people of this
great civilization used dolls called Transcenders to entrap and manipulate the
gods. The gods mentioned in the documents probably refer to souls or a similar
spiritual entity. Interestingly, we’ve also learned that there were humans in
these times who were called by various names and considered to be divine. The
one that stood above all others was called…Odin. We’ve yet to determine whether
this was an existence similar to a deity in power or merely the title bestowed
upon the absolute ruler of the land. One final note: I’m very concerned about
the mysterious illness that has affected several of us recently. It is perhaps
due to a virus indigenous to this island, or perhaps… Well, I shudder just
thinking about it… A theory too far-fetched to even consider right now.
Whatever it is, I hope Alina stays safe through it all…
Tattered Journal 3:
It seems I’ve made a grave misunderstanding… Ragnarok Island was certainly a
place that piqued the curiosity of researchers, but…it was no paradise. We
spent three years meticulously studying what lay inside Yggdrasil. Inside the
tower, we found not only altars and various tools used to conquer the gods, but
also prototypes of Transcenders. The higher we went, the more refined the
Trancenders became, evolving from simple lumps of clay to more intricately made
dolls resembling the human form. As their experimentation advanced, they
proceeded to the next floor and the next level of research, gradually moving
higher and higher up the tower. Collecting and analyzing everything we could
find, we climbed up Yggdrasil, anxiously awaiting the next discovery, the next
window into this amazing culture. However, during our journey, nearly half of
us, 22 members of our research team, have lost their lives to this unknown
illness. They perished with such great regret… But not one of them uttered a
word of reproach to me. In fact, this made their demise even more painful. By
the time we reached the top floor, our original team of 47 had dwindled to just
23. Although I feel guilty because of it, inside, I can’t help but rejoice that
Alina has been one of those to survive where others have not. On the top floor,
we found none of the alters, tools, or even Transceders which the lower floors
held. At the far end of the room was something… No… What could only be called a
body existed… This doll, which looked no different from a human, lay in a
coffin, but seemed as though it could rise and start moving at any moment. The
coffin was marked “Surtr”. I touched the marking without thought. At that
moment, a massive rumble shook the tower as though something tremendously heavy
had been moved. We descended the tower, carrying the lifelike avatar called
Surtr with us…
Tattered Journal 3: (Cont.)
Surely it was the culmination of the ancients’ work…a fully completed
Transcender. When we arrived on the ground floor, we found that the exit from
the tower had been sealed. Shocked, we searched for other ways out, but there
were none. Some of the others decided to go back up the tower to find a way
out, but those who did never returned… We would like to believe that they were
successful in escaping, but we know that is not what happened. As time passed,
despair, fatigue, and hunger began to take it’s toll on us. When we thought we
had reached our very limit, Alina began to behave oddly. She said she could
hear a voice. At first, we though she was suffering from delirium caused by
lack of food, but then she began to walk as if being led by the voice she
heard. Then she stopped in front of a wall of the tower and spoke to it in a
language I had never heard before. It broke my heart to see my dearest daughter
crumbling under the weight of stress and despair… But then, a section of the
wall suddenly began to slide open… Beyond the opened wall was a narrow
staircase that seemed to stretch deep into underground chambers. Alina
descended the stairs without speaking a word, and I followed her. A few members
cautiously followed us down, but most were too exhausting to move and remained
where they were. The staircase, which seemed to stretch to the very core of the
earth, eventually led us to a dim cavern. The walls of the cavern were lined
with row after row of severely deformed Transcenders, surrounding the entire
perimeter. We spread out, looking for anything to give us hope for survival,
eventually coming upon a small box that had been wrapped and sealed. Alina,
apparently still under the control of the voice, began to unwrap the little box
without hesitation. I had a bad feeling about it and tried to stop her from
opening it, but she didn’t listen to me… It was as if she hadn’t heard me at
all… Frustrated, I took the box from her…but my curiosity got the better or me,
so I proceeded to remove the seal myself. Then…I opened the box. What appeared
was a wisp of dark cloud that slowly floated towards the ceiling in a spiraling
motion… After pausing for a brief moment, it began to move towards Alina. It
moved slowly and steadily, eventually expanding and surrounding her. I don’t
know if what I did next was the right thing to do. I embraced Alina, holding
her close to me, trying to protect her from the dark cloud that was slowly
engulfing us. The dark cloud did not alter its path and entered me through my
ears, my eyes, my nose, and my mouth. I lost consciousness at that moment. When
I woke up, I was lying on a cot at out team’s island base camp. It seemed as
though Alina and my friends had carried me out. After I blacked out Alina, who
had regained her sanity, led the others and brought me up to the ground floor.
They found the exit from the tower open again as if nothing had happened. One
of the team members cried tears of joy, shouting that we had been saved. But
was I really saved…?
Tattered Journal 4:
How much time has passed since we returned from Yggdrasil…? Alina has grown
into a woman and now leads the research team in my place. As for myself, I live
in fear of changes to my body… Everyone… All of my friends have died. Those of
us who remain live a lonely, sad life as a family on this remote island. But
this life will end in the not-too-distant future. Something terrible had
infected my body. It’s wreaking havoc inside me. I can feel it. This something
speaks to me. It uses cursed words to attack my conscience. Perhaps the same
voice that led Alina to the underground chamber back then is the same wicked
voice I hear now. The voice uttered by that dark cloud… It exists inside me and
refers to itself as Odin. It spoke to Alina and used her to release itself from
the seal. Once freed, Odin sought to possess her for itself. I believe I should
be proud of the decision I made that day. It would please my wife to know that
I saved our daughter. I protected Alina. I did not let Odin infect her. But
now…Odin whispers to me. Telling me to hand over my body… Telling me that so
many lives have already been lost because of me and my mission…that I don’t
deserve to live on. I know that. I have caused so much suffering to my close
friends… All for my studies. Although I didn’t kill them myself, my hands are
still soaked in their blood. I’m ready to be punished for this, but I still
need a little more time. I’ve yet to teach Alina everything I know. There is
still so much for her to learn. …….. Well, that is not the absolute truth. Let
me be plain… I’m scared. I’m scared of death and being separated from Alina. I
did not know I was such a pitiful man. Please forgive me for being so weak-
willed… I don’t know who I should ask for forgiveness, but…please let me have
just a little more time to watch over her…
Tattered Journal 5:
Eight years have passed since we discovered this island. I can no longer talk
and can barely move my body. But it’s enough. I’ve already lived more than I
need. Odin has invaded my soul, and my body is rotting away, but my life has
been a happy one. Just being able to spend a quiet life here with Alina… It’s
more than I could have wished for. Alina has become an even greater researcher
than myself. She should do very well for herself. I hope that, at the time of
my passing, she will leave this island and live a life of her choosing on her
own terms. She has already given enough of her years to continuing my research…
A life like this is not befitting of a young woman. …….. Odin’s voice gets
stronger every day. It soils my heart with its cursed words. It even dared to
offer a despicable “deal” offering Alina’s soul in exchange for my own. Odin’s
been inside me long enough to know that I’d never allow Alina to be subjected
to this evil. Alina is my hope, my light… She is my life. So to ensure her
safety, I’ve decided to take my own life. And with it, this vile spirit that
calls itself Odin. In the ancient civilization, “Odin” was the title given to
the individual with the most talent in magic. The one crowned as Odin was
raised to be the ruler of that age with supreme power over the populace. But
the Odin of a certain age misused his power and authority. Utilizing ability
beyond the understanding of humans, Odin experimented until he created the
Transcender that looked no different from a human. With it, he attempted to
extend his rule beyond the island to the rest of the world. Those appalled by
his acts slew his creation and sealed its soul deep underground. We… I opened
that seal… A Pandora’s box that should never have been touched… Odin is trying
to return. Trying to return thorough my body…or thorough Alina’s… I will not
allow it. Now, Odin, let us die together. Beyond the darkest realm, we shall
begin our endless atonement. Alina… My daughter. I wish I could be here to see
your future… to see what you make of yourself and your life… I pray that it is
filled with joy and light. Goodbye, Alina. And I am sorry. Sorry to leave you
here alone. To my dearest daughter, this is my farewell note. Your father
There’s some scribbling at the end of the journal…
“I can hear the voice. The voice that…calls me… F-father…”

10. Frequently Asked Questions
###############################################################################
Q: Are there card passwords, ghosts, duel puzzles, tag/turbo duels or races?
A: No.
Q: Can I customize an avatar?
A: No. His/her appearance is pre-set.
Q: What promotional cards were given with this game?
A: Ape Fighter, Closed Forest, and Roaring Earth.
Q: Was a Duel Scanner supposed to be released alongside this game?
A: Yes. However, it was confirmed to be delayed in regions outside of Japan
due to technical issues with the scanning technology. It came bundled with
the Japanese version of the game, though, and allows players to scan real-
life cards into the game.
Q: Is there connectivity with DS games such as Reverse of Arcadia?
A: No.
Q: How do I speed duels up?
A: Under the default settings, duels are very slow, so go to Options. Switch
'Card Animation' to "Very Fast" and turn off 'Display Detailed
Confirmation'. These adjustments should speed duels up significantly.
Despite this, dueling is still a bit slower than in other games such as Tag
Force 5 and WCT2006 (not counting Tag Force 5's CPU thinking), though it's
faster than DS games post-WC2008. If you don't want to activate Quick-Play
spells and traps, you can hold B to skip confirmation.
Q: Can I use Forbidden Cards in this game?
A: Yes. You are allowed to have 1 Forbidden Card in your deck.
Q: Is there an in-game list of each pack's contents?
A: No. However, you can do the following actions to find out what pack(s) a
card is in (assuming that you've unlocked the pack(s) in question):
*If you already have 1 copy of the card you want, you can view its details.
*If an opponent has any of the cards you want in his/her deck, you can view
their details (it's easily done by viewing a character's recipe).
*If the card you want is on a banlist, you can check the banlist for
details.
*You can use Prohibition, D.D. Designator, Archfiend's Oath or Mind Crush to
view the details of all cards available in this game (use C + up/down/left/
right to scroll through the card list quicker, and press + to read a
highlighted card's details).
Q: Can I trade cards or send/receive recipes over Wi-Fi?
A: No.
Q: Are there voices in duels for characters that have animations and phrases?
A: No. None of the voice actors from the English anime adaptation have
speaking roles in this game (presumably due to profit issues).
Q: Where can I check/input friend codes?
A: Go to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. You can check your friend code and add
friend codes of other people by selecting 'Duel with Friends'.
Q: How do I change banlists?
A: On the banlist screen, press Z and right.
Q: Is there a related cards search option?
A: No.
Q: Is there any lag when dueling online?
A: Yes. In my personal experience, it's nearly lag-free for continental
duels, but is very laggy for worldwide ones.
Q: Can I turn off cutscenes in duels?
A: Yes. Go to Options and turn off 'Duel Effects'.
Q: Can I communicate via Wii Speak or Fixed Text over Wi-Fi?
A: No.
Q: Where is the text search option mentioned in the help glossary?
A: It didn't make it to the final version of this game for some reason. I
suggest using netrep.net as an alternative (credited to Astaroth136).
Q: Why are some cards difficult to pull from packs?
A: In this game, there are 4 levels of rarity: Common, Rare, Super Rare and
Ultra Rare. Just like in real life, the rarer the card, the harder it is to
pull from packs, so you'll probably need to buy a lot of packs to obtain the
cards you want. Later packs will give you mostly cards that you don't have
or have the least amount of, though.
Q: Can I duel against my own deck recipes?
A: No.
Q: Why doesn't the ragequitter filter work sometimes?
A: No filter is 100 percent accurate, but it should help you avoid ragequitters
most of the time.
Q: Can I watch auto duels?
A: No.
Q: Is there a Tournament Mode?
A: No.
Q: Where can I buy this game?
A: There seems to be low stock of this game for some reason even with online
retailers. Your best bet is to buy it from Amazon.com or its international
websites. I couldn't find the game in any stores near me, so I bought it
from amazon.co.uk instead.
Q: Why are duels a bit slow?
A: The slowness is due to the revisions been made with regards to the decision-
making processes of the CPU, coupled with the fact that the amount of memory
stored on the game's disc is a clossal amount due to the large card pool. A
thinking-in-progress icon is displayed next to a player's face on the duel
screen to indicate this. Unlike other games such as Tag Force 5 and WC2010,
there is no long thinking for offline duels, though.
Q: Why can't I find opponents online?
A: Keep searching. If you can't find anyone, try widening your search
parameters (for example, banlists need not match). Online can be pretty
dead at times, though.
Q: Why are there some unusable avatars online?
A: They were added as usable avatars for the Japanese version.
Q: Is Slifer the Sky Dragon in this game?
A: No, as Slifer's tournament-legal card wasn't available at the time of this
game's creation.
Q: Why can't I give a deck a name with more than 10 characters?
A: You only have a 10-character limit for deck names. Oddly enough, this
doesn't apply to CPU opponents, as they have a 20-character limit for some
reason.
Q: Can I move/copy my Duel Transer save to a SD card?
A: Nope.
Q: How many memory blocks does this game use?
A: Just 2.
