Outfits do not do any of the following: - Change the character portrait when they talk in story scenes or other conversations. - Change the characters models for story events. - Change the characters models while in battle. After knowing this you might be wondering why would you want to collect them if they have barely any visual impact in the game. I collected them because they were there and also some of the conversations can be somewhat amusing. Overall collecting them doesn't require much effort or resources (Rico, money) but many of them are missable. You equip outfits by opening the menu and then pressing right to go into the characters. Press A to access the characters status screen and there you should she the tab to change outfits (as well as a tab to see Excel Acts). Also, I'd like to note that I will be using the word costume as well as outfit throughout the FAQ but both refer to the same thing. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------- Missable outfits information ----------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are several missable outfits. The reasons why a certain outfit can be missed are these: - The character that uses the outfit leaves the party. - The outfit is obtained through an event that needs other outfits that you don't have and that can be missed. - The time frame to obtain the outfit is small. The outfits that can be missed, besides those from characters that leave, are the next ones: - Pajamas from staying at certain Inn. You have to stay at a certain Inn as soon as it's stated in this guide because advancing the story usually stops the event from happening. Also they need other pajamas so missing Ryfia's pajama for example would stop you from getting Cecille's, Rastan's, Serge's and Leslie's. - Costumes from a certain house in Carbunculus. These costumes are obtained by going to a certain house right after certain events. Some of these are incredibly easy to miss because their availability time frame is really small. Some of these also require older costumes you get from this house. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------- Mystery Outfits ------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These outfits are cameo outfits from Luminous Arc 1. They are mostly found in the worldmap. Here's the list of outfits, who uses them and which character from Luminous Arc has these clothes. I suggest you use the "by story events" list if you are trying to get costumes since many of them become unavailable after some story events.
