Introduction======================================================[Int]= ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Oneechanbara Revolution is the 6th game in the Oneechanbara series of games by TamSoft and D3 Publisher, and the second not on a Sony Console. Storyline wise, it's the 4th on the series, as games 2 and 4 were re-releases of the previous game with added content. Chronologically, the series goes: 1. Simple 2000 Series Vol. 61: The Oane-Chapara (PS2) ---Released in Europe as Zombie Zone 2. Simple 2000 Series Vol. 80: The Oneechanpuruu (PS2) --- Released in Europe as Zombie Hunters 3. Simple 2000 Series Vol. 90: The Oneechanbara 2 (PS2) 4. Simple 2000 Series Vol.101: The Oneechanpon: The Oneechan 2 Special Edition (PS2) --- Released in Europe as Zombie Hunters 2 5. The Oneechanbara VorteX (Xbox 360) 6. The Oneechanbara Revolution (Wii) The series focuses on the sisters Aya and Saki, and their rivalry and later their continued battle against the undead and those who set about using them to their own means. Gameplay wise, the series of games are 3rd person action games, similar in style and context to games like Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden and God of War, with 1 character against an army of opponents. However, this series has its own little twists to make it stand out. Firstly is the Blood Meter, represented by a sword above your characters health bar. The fuller this is, the less damage your attacks do, the slower your attacks are and if its full, your sword may stick in your target, leaving you vulnerable. There's also the berserk gauge, which fills as you kill more enemies and get more blood on your character. When this fills, you enter a berserk rage, with your character becoming stronger and faster, but gradually losing health. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- =2. Storyline=========================================================[Str]= ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now, I don’t read or speak Japanese. The story from the first two games in the series I've gotten from the PAL releases of Zombie Hunters and Zombie Hunters 2. Also, I'm not sure about what happens in VorteX as of time of writing, so that'll come later. -= The Oane-Chapara / Zombie Zone and The Oneechanpuruu / Zombie Hunters =- This is the story of the hatred between two sisters in 20th century Tokyo. Aya has grown up alone with her father, who has strictly trained her in swordsmanship. Saki was raised alone by her mother, whom she saw die in illness and poverty. Saki avenges herself by killing her stepsister Aya's father, who had left her and her mother to pursue swordsmanship. Then Saki discovers an ancient art which can bring the dead back to life, but to bring back her mother, she needs the heart of her stepsister Aya at all costs. Amidst the madness of a zombie ravaged Tokyo, in a whirlwind of love, hatred and rage, the battle between the two sisters begins. Battling her way through the zombie filled streets, Aya battles her way through a zombie infested hospital, searching for clues as to the cause of her father's death and the Zombies. She eventually tracks down her stepsister Saki, and, knowing she's behind everything, Aya is determined to stop her, resulting in a climatic battle between the two sisters. -= The Oneechanbara 2 / The Oneechanpon: The Oneechan 2 Special Edition / Zombie Hunters 2 =- 49 Days after the climatic battle between Aya and Saki, Saki is still unable to regain consciousness. Aya had managed to miss her vital organs, as if her love for her sister had held her back. Saki's wounds were deep, but Aya managed to carry her out of the temple they fought in and took her to a hospital. When Saki's condition suddenly worsened, she was set for a transferal between Hospitals, Saki disappears. Was she taken by someone, or did she leave of her own accord ? All that was left was an ambulance smeared in blood. Aya, desperate to find her missing sister, wasted no time following her trail. Aya found her sister under attack by a mysterious leather clad woman. Aya arrived just in time to stop her delivering a fatal blow. After a stand off the woman revealed herself as Reiko, and began to tell the sister what she knew. "Cursed" was what she said about their blood, and that there were other carrying the same blood. Reiko was working for a secret organization looking for the reason behind the new zombie outbreak. They had determined that Saki was the catalyst, and Reiko had been sent to kill her. But Aya knew better, the outbreak must of been caused by the other carriers of the cursed blood, and they must have been behind Saki's condition. With a seal placed on Saki so she regains control of herself. Aya eventually struck down Reiko, only to later be confronted by her again. Was she a clone ? The new Reiko informed Aya and Saki that the women they had struck down was artificially cultivated from her DNA, and that their current powers wouldn’t be enough against their real enemy. Feeling the seal on Saki weakening, Aya accepted this new Reiko's help. Aya could feel an evil in the air, calling forth the undead and affecting her sister. According to the data from Reiko's organization, a long time ago, there was a tribe whose people all had the same cursed blood as Aya and Saki. One day the dark priest that led the tribal ceremonies, broke the tribal rules and conducted a horrific, forbidden ritual. He killed the virgins in the community one after the other, collecting enough blood to fill a coffin. He then took a priestess, used his dark power to make her pregnant, and then he submerged her for 108 days in the coffin filled with cursed blood. This was the cursed art known as the Alchemy of Blood, which killed the mother but allowed the child to survive by feeding on the blood. With this ceremony the dark priest was attempting to release an ultimate power hidden within the cursed blood of his people, so they could dominate the other tribes. Having picked up on this conspiracy, the leader of the tribe killed the priest and his followers, whether woman or child, to erase any trace of them from the earth as a way to prevent this ritual from taking effect. But the child that had been born out of the dark arts survived in the soil, feeding on the corpses of the dead priest and his followers. He grew up, and mingled with the other tribes, thus ensuring that the alchemic blood was passed on to younger generations. Time hadn’t weakened this dark blood, and it still existed today. Arriving in a cave filled with the abnormal, Aya can feel the blood of whatever lies at the end of the cave and the blood running through her body violently clashing with each other. Her blood gives her an order in a voice like no voice she'd ever heard. "Kill Her." Aya thinks about the blood inside her body, and her own nature. Why did this blood come to be, and why was she born ? A nature she'd been burdened with from the past, and a heretical existence that faced persecution. In this world where death visits only as often as birth does, the cursed blood is trying to unbalance the status quo. What could it possibly be seeking from Aya and Saki ? Perhaps because of her alchemic blood, Aya can sense a powerful bloodlust that seems to pierce through her body. A murderous intent full of hostility that seems to tear through her skin and bore deep into her body. It becomes painfully clear to Aya that this being they now face wants to kill her, and take Saki for itself. Once again, Aya's blood gives her an order, "Destroy Her." In this fight to the death, between Aya and Eve, both carrying the same cursed blood, blood sisters even, will Aya finally be able to end this cursed cycle ? But Aya doesn’t feel right, the feeling she's overlooked something important causes her to hesitate. Aya and Saki eventually manage to defeat Eve, yet Aya is still troubled. It's only then that Aya is confronted by Reiko, who is now in the same berserker berserk that those of the cursed blood enter. The two sister's fight once more to end the evil brought on by their cursed bloodline. -= The Oneechanbara VorteX =- After the defeat of Reiko, Saki regains control of herself, and the two sisters return to a somewhat more normal life. However, this newfound peace isn’t set to last, as once again Tokyo is infested with zombie's, and the cursed bloodline of the two sisters is set to clash once again with their own fates. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- =3. Characters and Controls================================================= ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- All 4 characters share the same Stats and requirements for going Berserk. I'll cover these here to save repetition. Stats --Skill Increases the number of hits available in a combination attack. For Reiko this also increases the amount of ammunition in her Guns. --Vitality Regained by green gems and blood Hearts and red orbs while berserk. Blue sections can be regained by tagging out --Power How much damage you do with each attack. --Reach How far your attacks reach. Berserk / Trance Modes: There are two levels of Berserk in Oneechanbara Revolution. The first is the standard level of Berserk, and is reached by filling the Berserk gauge, which is the player characters face icon. When this fills red it'll start pulsating and you'll enter Berserk Mode. The gauge can be filled by killing enemies, taking damage or using Blood Heart items. To exit the Berserk Mode you must either stand near a Goddess statue, the statues located in those special rooms marked as Blue Stars on the maps, or using one of the Fragments you can pick up. The upside of being in the Berserk mode is the extra damage you'll cause with every attack. However the downside is how your Vitality is constantly drained, and you'll take more damage if hit. Berserk Mode 2 is somewhat trickier to enter, but its upside is the large amount of extra damage you'll do. To enter Berserk Mode 2, you must fill the berserk gauge whilst finishing a Full Cool Combination. -=Aya=- [Aya] Raised by her father and trained by the sword, Aya now only lives to avenge her father, who was killed by an unknown assassin, and to destroy her one and only baby sister... A beautiful female warrior and a carrier of the cursed blood. Aya's impeccable skills with the sword have her making a living as a professional assassin. She is the half-sister of Saki, ringleader of the original Zombie epidemic. With Aya, this is a quick sword Attack. 1 + Nunchuck Shake = Ecstasy Combination This attack uses up the Ecstasy gauge, the yellow gauge to the left of the character icon. With Aya this is a spinning move with both her swords outstretched. Heart Rip Move / Mekite: Execute 3 Attacks, followed by a brief pause, then a forward thrust of the Wii Remote. If done correctly, the character will thrust their empty hand forward. This is the only way to kill Mud Exorcist Zombie’s without being berserk, and allows you to get the Blood Heart items from them. Wind Attack Alternate Combo / Kyouranenbujin: Execute 3 Attacks, followed by a brief pause, then shake the Wii Remote from side to side. If performed correctly the character will begin Attacking from side to side. If timed correctly, the attacks can be chained into a combination. Counter Attack: To perform counter attacks, you must have a bar of the Ecstasy gauge full, be locked onto an enemy, and press A to Dodge their attack at the right time. If timed correctly, the game will go into a slow motion evade, during which you can shake the Wii Remote to perform the Counter Attack. Other Notes: With both swords drawn, you must alternate between Wii Remote and Nunchuck shakes to perform a full combination attack. Cool Combo's are still available, however the timing will be different. -=Saki=- [Sak] A part-time assassin, Saki has come to the land for one reason only - to find her sister. While she may look like a normal student, Saki holds down a job as a part-time professional assassin. Like her half-sister Aya, she carries the cursed blood, though her's is far more infected than Aya's, and has caused her to have an aggressive, violent personality. Whilst doing this, she can still perform Cool Combinations and she also has access to grab attacks which are executed after charging the Locked On enemy. 1. -- Complete a full "lap" of Survival.
2. -- Complete a full "lap" of survival without using items.
3. -- Complete a full "lap" of survival within 666 Seconds.
[Unconfirmed]
A full "lap" of survival involves clearing all the stages and beating all
4 bosses. You'll know when you'll have cleared a lap as you'll be back in
the same arena you start survival in.

=8. Monsters==========================================================[Mon]=
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--Zombie
The most common enemies in the game, and as such, the easiest to deal with.
They attack slowly, and only at close range. They can come with various
weapons, but their slow attack speed and audible attack cue makes their
attacks the easiest to evade. Best dealt with last and with simple attacks.
--Police Zombie
These come in two varieties, smaller and bigger, however they're both dealt
with in the same way. They carry guns, and can use them from quite a
distance so they're often best taken out as a priority. Up close they'll
attack slow, but they can also block your attacks. Their blocks can be
easily broken with either a kick, or if you have one ready, an Ecstasy
Combo.
--Bird Zombie
More an annoyance than anything, Bird Zombie's just fly around, and will
only attack you when they're flying right at you. They can catch you by
surprise if you're not paying much attention, but they're also pretty weak,
and can be quite easily dealt with using a ranged attack, or as collateral
damage in a cool combo.
--Beast Monkey Zombie
These are annoying little swine’s. They hop around and screech and can
attack suddenly. They can get behind you quick and damage you without you
even seeing it coming. However, they're also pretty weak, and easily dealt
with with a face on combo.
--Spider Zombie
Much like the Beast Monkey Zombie's, there are annoying. However, they're
also stronger and can block, making them much more dangerous. Because of
this I'd put them alongside Police and Soldier Zombies as a priority to take
out. Their blocks can be broken with kicks or Ecstasy Combo's.
--Mud Exorcist Zombie
Whilst slow and cumbersome, these enemies are only defeatable by normal
means whilst berserk, making them pretty hard to deal with. Fortunately, the
Heart Rip Move makes short work of them, killing them in one hit. Because
they're often the slowest enemy you'll be facing, and because they require
a certain move to defeat, I find them best left until last.
--Soldier Zombie
Quite possibly the worst regular enemy in the game. They come with either
knives, chain guns or grenades, and all do a large amount of damage. The
grenade throwers and chain gun wielders should always be the first enemies
you take out in a group, as they can hit you from range and for a lot of
damage. They're second only to Giant Zombie's in terms of damage and
their own vitality.
--Giant Zombie
Whilst they have the most health and hit the hardest of all the regular
enemies in the game, the fact they're slow and require being close to hit
you makes them only slightly less dangerous than Soldier Zombie's. They do
have some faster attacks though, so try to keep tabs on them at all times,
as if they hit you, you'll know about it.
--Blood Smoke Zombie
These only appear in story mode, and never have to be defeated to proceed.
They can ONLY be defeated with cool combinations, with the chapter they
appear in determining just how many hits they require to be defeated. Once
defeated for the first time, they'll drop the chapter ring your playing on
for the character your playing as. After acquiring the ring they drop, Blood
Smoke Zombie's will still appear, but no longer drop anything.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
=9. General Tips======================================================[Tip]=
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-- For counter attacking quests, Reiko's Chapter 7 ring is an utter god
send. It stops the ecstasy gauge depleting, meaning you'll always have
it built up after you get it, and this makes getting the counter attacks
a whole lot easier.
-- For everything else, and I mean that quite literally, Aya's Chapter 5
Ring, the Ring of Finesse, is vital. With it I go from doing full cool
combo's 1 in 4 to doing full combos every single time I try. The ability
to get to Violence technical ranking so quickly is the key to leveling up
in a prompt fashion. In a single Free Play level, on hard difficulty,
using Aya to kill stuff, I managed to get Saki up the better part of 20
levels, with her only picking up the scrap EXP orbs I missed with Aya. I
recommend getting it a soon as you can, leveling it as fast as you can,
and making full use of it as often as you can.
-- Crowd control can be hard to figure out at times. More often than not,
your best bet in a crowd will either be a Lai attack if you can spare
the Vitality, or an Ecstasy attack if you've got the gauge to burn. But
another way is to make use of the alternate wind combo, as its horizontal
attack tends to have more reach, with the exception of Reiko. With Reiko
if you're looking to control a crowd, she has her guns. Her shotgun will
quite happily move things around. That said, if you've following the
previous tip, a full Cool Combo will clear a crowd no problem. Also don't
be afraid of making use of the invulnerability offered whilst performing
a cool combination, it can be the difference between life and death.
-- Monster Priority all comes down to a matter of preference. Typically you
should aim to take out Soldiers and Police Zombies first, as their range
attacks can often take you by surprise. I tend to leave the Mud Exorcist
Zombie's until last as they're slow, and need to be taken out with the
Heart Rip move, unless you're in a Berserk state. That said, I always
make a point of taking out the annoying Beast Monkey and Spider Zombies
first, as they're quick, and can get behind you fast, and they have
decent range, so can be on you in an instant, and hit you without you
having chance to react.
-- Cool Combination Timing is just a matter of practice. With that said,
using Practice mode to learn the timing of Cool Combinations is a bad
idea. Sure, its a great place to learn when to swing, but as it has the
training bar on screen, it can become easy to rely on it, and that bar
never appears in game. The best thing to do is to learn when there needs
to be a brief pause in your Wii Remote swings. Better yet, getting a feel
for the sound and animation frames of when to swing is even better. With
practice you'll soon pick it up, and with the benefit of the Ring of
Finesse, it's a heck of a lot easier to master than in past games.
-- The best way to plough through survival is to use Aya and Reiko. Get Aya
into a Berserk State, preferable Berserk 2, and use her to dish out
damage. Whenever she takes damage that leaves a blue segment of her
health bar visible, tag out to Reiko, and use her guns to keep the
enemies away whilst letting Aya's Vitality return. Tag out when Aya's
gained back as much Vitality as possible. Using this method allows you to
heal Aya using the Blood Heart items and Reiko using Green Gem's,
doubling your healing capacity whilst at the same time, maximizing the
damage you can inflict. Also, using Reiko's guns you can quickly raise up
a Violence technical ranking, then when you tag out to Aya, her berserk
state combined with the Violence ranking will allow you to cut through
enemies and maximize the EXP gain.

=10. FAQs===================================================================
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-- How do I do a Cool Combo ? [Qu1]
It's mostly a matter of a lot of practice and patience. For a start it
helps to know what happens when you achieve a cool hit. When you achieve
a cool hit, the screen will flash white, and you'll hear a noise. A cool
combo is a full combination of cool hits, which result in an extra
attack. To perform a full Cool Combination, you'll need to have maxed
out the Combination stat for your character. The number of hits in the
combo also depends on your character. Using the practice mode will teach
you when the timing is for a cool attack, however, you'll also be using
a training bar that wont be there in game. The best thing to do is get
an eye and an ear for the timing of each strike.
-- What are the Blood Smoke Zombie's about ? [Qu2]
These aren't typical enemies, and you never actually have to beat any
of them to progress in the game. They can only be defeated using a cool
combination, and upon defeat they drop special wearable rings that have
certain special effects. They can ONLY be found in Story Mode.
-- Will this game play on a US/PAL Wii ? [Qu3]
Yes and No. No, it wont play on a US or PAL Wii by default, as the Wii
is region coded. However, there is a disc put out by Datel called
Freeloader, which allows you to bypass the Wii's region coding. As of
time of writing, the Wii's system updates hadn’t stopped the Freeloader
working, however it's most likely Nintendo will issue an update to stop
it, because they suck like that.
