You will most likely be spending a lot of time fishing. You want to make sure you know which fish to sell and which fish to throw back. Also, so you know what you should be looking for during that time of year in your quest for the Golden Fishing Rod. This guide will tell you how to fish, what fish to catch and will list a lot of information regarding all the fish found in Animal Crossing. ____________________________ Word Find Codes: 1.0.0 - The Basics 1.0.1 - Fish by TYPE 1.1.1 - River Fish 1.1.2 - Ocean Fish 1.0.2 - Fish +/- by MONTH 1.0.3 - All Fish by MONTH 1.0.4 - Fishing Tournaments ____________________________ ----------------------------- 1.0.0 - The Basics ----------------------------- There are six different areas where you can fish. Some fish will only appear in specific areas. The list of areas is as follows: Holding Pond Ocean River River Mouth River Waterfall River Pond ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Holding Pond ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A holding pond is a little pond found in your town that is all alone. It is not connected to any other body of water and is pretty small. Each town has at least one holding pond. The fish found in these ponds are small and not worth much. Some months out of the year will not have a single fish in the holding pond. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ocean ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The ocean is the body of water at the far south of town. You can see the tide in the water so you know it's the ocean. The ocean has the biggest and most expensive fish. It also has Sea Bass... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ River ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The river runs through your town and down to the ocean. There are a couple bridges to cross the river. Fish sometimes go under these bridges and it can be quite difficult to flush them out. If you are having a hard time catching a fish under the bridge, throw the bobber upstream so it will float down under the bridge. You will have to catch the fish with your ears when you hear the bobber go underwater. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ River Mouth ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The mouth of a river is where the river meets the ocean. It can be hard to see a fish that goes from the river to the ocean as there is a spot that the fish becomes invisible. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ River Waterfall ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Your town should have two waterfalls. One at the top of the town and one somewhere along the river. If a fish is found in the waterfall, you have to fish for it at the bottom of the waterfall. You can stand at the top cliff and throw your bobber to the bottom if need be. The waterfall at the top of your town can be pretty difficult to fish in as you cant reach the base. I do not think the Char can be caught at that waterfall anyway. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ River Pond ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Somewhere along the river is a large open body of water. It is easy to spot because the river becomes much wider and looks like a pond. ----------------------------- Tools ----------------------------- This is a given. You can either shake the remote to cast and catch a fish or you can use the C button on the nunchuk. Fishing Rod - Bought from Tom Nook. Silver Fishing Rod - Bought at Nooks shop, fish attract to bobber more. Golden Fishing Rod - Catch all fish and get this, Fish attract more to bobber and you have a little longer to press the button after a bite. ----------------------------- Before You Start: ----------------------------- Animal Crossing has a lot of fish and bugs to catch. Fishing in Animal Crossing consistently gives you money. It's an everlasting source of bells. Bug catching can also be used for money making purposes. The bugs/fish you see depend on the season, the time of day and where you are looking. For example, the river fish are completely different from the ocean fish. Each month, the fish you can catch in either the river or the ocean changes, so does the bugs you can catch. I will list every fish, where you can catch it, what time of day you can catch it and how much it is worth. Some Tips: *Fish only go at the bobber 5 times max, 5th time is an easy catch *WALK! Running scares away fish and bugs *Pay attention to the size of fish shadows *You can sell trash you catch to Nook but you need another item with it *The sound is played before the bobber goes under, use your ears for rare fish *Always fish when it rains or snows, rarer fish are much easier to find ----------------------------- 1.0.1 - Fish by TYPE ----------------------------- RIVER FISH: 1.1.1 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Fish: Angelfish Area: River Worth: 3,000 Time: 4pm-9am Months: May-Oct. and holds a fishing tournament in Animal Crossing. Here are the dates of the fishing tournaments: January - 3rd Saturday - Specific fish needed February - 2nd Saturday - Biggest fish March - 3rd Saturday - Specific fish needed April - 2nd Saturday - Biggest fish May - 3rd Saturday - Specific fish needed October - 2nd Saturday - Biggest fish November - 3rd Saturday - Specific fish needed December - 3rd Sunday - Biggest fish The fishing tournament runs from 9am to 6pm. Talk to Chip the beaver to find out the tournament challenge. Chip will give out a Silver and Gold trophy to the winners of the tournament. Silver Trophy - Win by catching a specific fish Gold Trophy - Win by catching the biggest fish The trophy does not change per tournament (although it should!) so if you get one of each, you have them all. You can submit fish that you have caught previously so if you know a tournament is coming, stock up on large fish. Start with a small fish and submit it to Chip. Each time you take the lead, you get a item from Chip. The items aren't that great though so I would not go out of my way to try and get them. Only the trophies are exclusive to Chip. If you talk to Chip and say you are not going to submit a fish, he will tell you what the biggest fish currently is. Submit the same one as the biggest. The size of the fish is not known until you submit it. Chip will tell you its length and then eat it. You do not get it back. If sea bass are winning and you submit a sea bass that doesnt take the lead, submit another one. All sea bass are not the same size. At 6pm, if you are the winner you will be mailed a trophy and it will be posted on that message board outside the town hall. You can talk to Chip at 6pm and he will tell you if you won the tournament. _________________________________________ This will list old previous versions of the guide. -December fish by month chart was wrong, fixed VERSION 1.31 -More rarity and shadows added -Minor fixes VERSION 1.30 -More rarity and shadows added -Added hint about fishing in rain/snow -Added fishing tourny info VERSION 1.20 -Added all fish by month -Minor grammar changes -More rarity and shadows added -Table of Contents 1234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789
