Anyway, this game turned out to be more addictive than I thought. I managed to collect all the equipment in this game. Thanks for reading. ***************** How to make stuff ***************** If you weren't paying attention during the game, Cid tells you how to make new accessories. You can do this by finding materials, which are represented by the blue cubes you find in chests or dropped by monsters. You can also purchase materials from Moogle shops, and occasionally get them for finishing certain quests or reading UMA News. Once you have materials you can go to a synthesis Moogle shop, where you can use them to make accessories. When you make something, the order of materials and timing of input can get you the versions of an accessory with special effects. However, you can never make the same accessory twice. So the easiest way to ensure you get what you want might be to make the item three times! ********************************* Finding materials and farming gil ********************************* Some materials are very hard to find. The most obvious way to get more of a rare material is to replay campaigns and hope for a drop. For a list of the monsters that drop them, you can look on the GameFAQs boards for this game. To improve your chances, you'll want accessories that increase your Luck. But instead of replaying campaigns to farm rare materials, you can buy them from randomly generated lists at any materials Moogle shop. I find this method to be faster because you don't have to wait three minutes between campaigns to fight the one monster that drops the item, or wait through a completely irrelevant campaign in areas where there are two campaigns. Also, gil is really easy to farm (see below). To activate the random shop listings, first purchase any item (Bottle Caps are cheapest). Then press Z and shake the remote. In my experience, it can take a long time for items to appear if you have few of them. Also, I'm not sure if items appear if you haven't found them in the main game via a chest or monster drop. While doing this, you might find that some of the materials are exorbitantly expensive, like Dark Matter and Forever Fruit. You can knock 20% off the price of all materials by shopping with the Moogle at the end of Forgotten Forest, where the Marlboro appears in the second campaign there. Still, Forever Fruits and Dark Matters are still just under 80,000 gil each at that shop, so you might need to farm gil. *********** Farming gil *********** The easiest way to farm gil is to go to Costa Faguita and throw the "Selkie Man" who kicks the turtle on the side of town closest to Hush Hush Pond. You do however have to actually throw him; that is, you have to knock him over, pull him above your head, and throw him. Throwing to the side does not work. Each time you throw the man you can dig up the turtle's buried treasure, which is about 1,000 gil. That gil is doubled if you wear a "Double gil drops" accessory. The treasure is in the same place until you leave the area or the Miasma Stream opens. The turtle supposedly leads you to the treasure after you save it, but the guy kicking him recovers and runs rather quickly, so he usually kicks the turtle again before it can lead you to the treasure. The treasure ("???") appears in one of five places: 1. Start by facing the cave entrance to Hush Hush Pond. Look to your right and you'll see a tree in the corner; the treasure is in front of that tree. 2. From spot 1, head along the cliff towards the central plaza. The treasure is at the base of the next tree on the left. 3. Near the signpost by the cave entrance to Hush Hush Pond. 4. Between the deck chairs closest to the beach (there's a Selkie woman in one of them). 5. Near the giant rock that is to the left of spot 4 when facing the ocean. This spot is the hardest to find, and is about halfway between the tree near the rock and the ocean, towards spot 4. Once you know where the treasure is, the fastest way to farm is to throw the guy near it. You don't have to wait for him to kick the turtle again before throwing him, you can just throw him as soon as it's possible to grab him again, and grab the treasure while he recovers. I can usually get about 50,000 gil in the three minutes or so between campaigns. To get all the items, I ended up farming about 1,000,000 gil and buying all the materials I needed in one go, after finding one of each via conventional methods. ******************** Lists of accessories ******************** I grouped the accessories into "families" since you usually get the special ones by synthesizing a basic version, as discussed above.
