This is a FAQ for the Wii U game NES Remix 2. It contains information on all
the stages, tips, criteria for earning stars, and a mini-review.

II. Getting Started [GS]
GAME START
Play NES Remix 2. At first only one game will be available (NES Remix I), earn
stars to unlock more games.
SUPER LUIGI BROS.
Let’s you play a mirrored version of the original Super Mario Bros. as Luigi
from the Japanese version of Super Mario Bros 2.
CHAMPIONSHIP MODE
If you’ve also purchased the original NES Remix then you’ll see an option for
Championship Mode. Championship Mode allows you to experience the thrill of
the original Nintendo World Championships. Your goal is to earn a high score
while playing three games.

A. Games [OVRA]
Each game has a certain number of stages, with each stage made up of one or
more challenges. Earning stars will unlock more games from you to choose from.
Each game has a tutorial video you can watch to learn the controls and basic
gameplay concepts.

B. Stars [OVRB]
You earn stars by beating stages, the better your time the more stars you earn.
Beating a stage will earn you two stars, if you are fast enough you will earn
three, and if you are even faster you will earn rainbow stars. If you use a
continue while playing a stage you will only earn one star.
Earning stars unlocks new games for you to play.

C. Bits [OVRC]
Earning bits unlocks stamps you can use in your Miiverse posts. The max number
of bits you can earn is 99,999.
You earn bits for the following:
STAGE CLEAR
Each stage has a stage clear multiplier, every time you beat that stage you
earn that many bits times the number of stars earned (rainbow stars count as
earning 4 stars for bit purposes)
1ST TIME CLEAR
The first time you beat a stage you will be awarded a certain number of bits.
PERFECT
Complete a stage without losing a life to earn extra bits.
RAINBOW
Earning rainbows stars on a stage for the first time.
RECORD
Beating a stage faster than you have before will earn you a few extra bits.
FAIL
If you attempt a stage and run out of lives, you can choose to continue. If
you DON'T continue you will be awarded a couple of bits for your effort.

WORLD 8-4 SOLUTION
It’s easy to get lost in Bowser’s Castle, here’s the path you need to take:
1.) Head left and go down the 3rd pipe you come to.
2.) When you emerge, continue left and go down the floating pipe (there is a
hidden block beside you can use to reach it)
3.) Head left and go down the 3rd pipe you come to (not counting the one you
emerged from!)
4.) Swim left while avoiding the fireballs and Bloopers. Exit through the
pipe.
5.) Finally, keep heading left till you reach Bowser. Jump on the axe to save
Princess Toadstool (and Mario).
CONTINUE
If you lose all of your lives, you can continue at the same world by holding
A while pressing Start on the title screen.

You need to collect 50 coins in Super Mario Bros. before you can move on. Any
points you earn here will be multiplied by 2 when you finish the section.

These may seem counter-intuitive but remember that you are NOT trying to earn
points here, your goal is to collect 50 coins as quickly as you can!
What TO do:
- Run as fast as you can to the hidden 10-coin block in the middle of the
level
- Hit the block 10 times to earn 10 coins (you may only get 9)
- Commit suicide by running into the Koopa
- After you die you’ll restart right in front of the coin block, keep

What is Super Luigi Bros.?
Super Luigi Bros. is a mirrored version of Super Mario Bros. where you move
left to right. You play as Luigi from the Japanese version of Super Mario
Bros. 2 meaning you jump higher but have to deal with his “slick shoes”.

What is Championship Mode?
If you own both NES Remix and NES Remix 2 then you can play Championship Mode.
You have 6’21” to collect 50 coins in Super Mario Bros., 25 coins in Super
Mario Bros. 3, and play Dr. Mario for a high score. It is based on the
1990 Nintendo World Championships game where you had to get 50 coins in Super
Mario Bros., complete a lap in Rad Racer, and finally play Tetris.

What does the green x2 mean?
When you see that it means you will earn twice as many bits for playing that
game. I haven’t been able to figure out a pattern for the x2 appearing, it
may be completely random which game gets it.

IX. Game Review [REV]
INTRODUCTION
NES Remix 2 is the sequel to last year’s surprise game NES Remix. NES Remix 2
brings us challenges & remixes from 12 all new NES classics. Also included is
Super Luigi Bros., where you can play a mirrored version of the Original Super
Mario Bros. with the Luigi from The Lost Levels. If you purchased the original
NES Remix then you’ll also be able to play Nintendo World Championships Remix.
THE GOOD
The biggest improvement over the original NES Remix is the game selection.
There are no bad games this time around, every single one is fun to play and
controls well. There also seems to be a little more leeway this time around
in the rainbow star criteria.
THE BAD
The only real complaint I have is the continued lack of multiplayer. Yes,
you can play two player in Super Luigi Bros. but it would have been nice to have
a few remixes tailored specifically for two players.
SUPER LUIGI BROS.
Super Luigi Bros. is a mirrored version of the original Super Mario Bros. where
you play as the Luigi from The Lost Levels. This is a great twist on a classic
but I would have loved the option to play the game unmirrored.
NINTENDO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS REMIX
Championship Mode allows you to experience the thrill of the original Nintendo
World Championships. Your goal is to earn a high score while playing three
games. Your goal is to collect 50 coins in Super Mario Bros., collect 25
coins in Super Mario Bros. 3, then go for a high score in Dr. Mario.
FINAL THOUGHTS
NES Remix 2 is an excellent sequel to NES Remix and improves on the original in
almost every way.
PROS
+ Much stronger collection of games this time around
+ Nintendo World Championships Remix is surprisingly addictive
+ Super Luigi Bros. supports two players!
CONS
- Would have been nice to play Super Luigi Bros. unmirrored
- Still no multiplayer remixes
