It's a game you should pick up if you're a Wii U owner, especially if you love platformers. I myself am a big fan of platformers and I'm a huge Nintendo fan. Strangely, I wasn't first introduced to Nintendo. The first console I ever played was the PS2 and while I liked it, it simply never did enough to hook me. The first game console to really interest me was the DS and I got a copy of Mario Kart DS along with it, then later on New Super Mario Bros. and ever since, I've loved the series. I decided to write this guide simply because I could. I wanted to assist beginners and experts alike in easily finding all 300+ Green Stars and 80+ stamps. I wanted to write a comprehensive guide that would help hundreds of thousands of GameFAQs users around the globe is completing this wonderful game. NOTES ----- 1. Captain Toad and Mystery House levels are listed as the last level of every world. 2. The term "Cat Climb" is used. It means that you climb the wall as a cat. 3. This guide was not designed to cover every secret in every nook and cranny, instead it was designed to be short and sweet and collect everything that is required to get 100% and that's it. 4. If somehow you don't understand where you are supposed to be to get the item after seeing the Green Star alert, consider reading the previous paragraph as some Green Stars are in bonus areas. 5. It allows Mario and his friends to turn into furry felines that make the game easy for beginners, yet requires a lot of skill to master. Jump, claw and meow your way through levels with this powerup. Double Cherry ------------- Boost your firepower with this special fruit! It creates an exact copy of your character that mirrors the original's every move, including getting powerups and using them! One will disappear if you get hit, but keep collecting them to see how many Marios or Luigis there can be on screen! (And to test how powerful the Wii U is) Beam/Light Box -------------- This new powerup murders ghosts, Boos and shows you how dark areas look like! Shine it onto a ghost and before long, they'll disappear! Reveal secrets and find your way in the dark with this powerup. NOTE: Known as Beam Boxes in Europe and Light Boxes in North America. Cannon Box ---------- Shoot cannonballs and kill enemies when you're in a hurry. This new powerup helps you destroy baddies and pulverize bosses, especially when you charge your shots. Also, kills your friends in a fight-to-the-death, which is really fun. Coin Box -------- Earn coins for walking and moving around and earn even more when you run and don't stop. Earn extra lives as you go along and gain coins galore! Propeller Block --------------- Fly up hard-to-reach or otherwise impossible-to-reach spots with this over-the- top (pun intended) powerup. Super Mushroom -------------- Get extra protection and grow up so you won't die when you get hit. This is one of gaming's most recognizable powerups and it returns in this adventure. Mega Mushroom ------------- Grow Hulk-sized with this powerup and stomp on everything you see for a limited time! Now this is what I call awesome! Fire Flower ----------- Another one of gaming's most loved powerups, the Fire Flower lets you shoot 2 fireballs at a team to burn Goombas and other enemies alive. Ouch! Goes perfectly with a Double Cherry to double firepower. Boomerang Flower ---------------- Throw your boomerang and have it plow through multiple enemies in a a row, jump at just the right moment to have it go behind you! Ideal when used with a Double Cherry. Tanooki Leaf ------------ One of the most popular powerups in Mario's extensive arsenal, this leaf turns Mario into a racoon/bear that can float and spin his tail to kill enemies. 1-Up Mushroom ------------- Adds an extra life, which allows you to die one extra time without game overing yourself. You-suck Tanooki Suit --------------------- Otherwise known as the Invincibility Leaf, after you die 5 times in a level, a special block with this will appear. Makes you invincible until you finish, but you can still die to lava and pits. ____ ___ ______ / __/ |_ | / _/ /____ __ _ ___ /__ \_ / __/_ _/ // __/ -_) ' \(_-< /____(_)____(_) /___/\__/\__/_/_/_/___/ ? Block ------- You never know what's inside? A coin, a powerup or something else entirely? It is so full of mystery! Brown Brick Block ----------------- Often just destroyed in one hit, but sometimes contain something useful. Purple Brick Block ------------------ Destroyed in one hit, not much more different than brown ones, except that they shatter instead of just break. Gray Brick Block ---------------- Not so easily destroyed - choose either bombs or Mega Mushroom as your method of attack, often contain Green Stars inside. Item Roulette Block ------------------- Gives out a range of items. You get what you hit, so try to aim for the best! Baddie/Bowser Boxes ------------------- Throws an enemy out into the level every so often, cannot be destroyed. Coin ---- The currency of the Mushroom Kingdom, though you don't buy anything with it. Instead, it raises your score and every 100 you collect grants an extra life. Red Coin -------- Appears after you trigger a red coin ring. Collect all 8 within a time limit to earn a powerup. Blue Coin --------- Appears when you trigger certain P-switches, have a time-limit before they disappear, often grant some goodies if you do so. Green Coin ---------- Appears when you trigger a Green Star Ring. Collect all 8 before time runs out to get a Green Star. Green Star ---------- 3 are hidden (and sometimes just placed in plain sight) in each level. There are 380 you need to collect, all of which are detailed in my guide (once it is completed). Stamp ----- There's one hidden in each level up to World Star (excluding bonus levels and boss-only level), mysteriously disappearing in Mushroom and Flower, then reappears in World Crown (in bonus levels too). Used to post on Miiverse. Key Coin -------- Some levels require you to collect all 5 hidden key coins to unlock the Warp Box to proceed. + 10 clock ---------- Blue in color, they add 10 seconds to your timer. + 100 clock ----------- Green in color, they add 100 seconds to your timer. Baseball -------- Throw these to destroy things, even enemies. Soccer ball bombs ----------------- Run at them if they are not red to kick them and destroy nearby gray bricks and enemies. Snowball -------- Roll them in the snow to make them big, then throw them at enemies. Green Pipe ---------- Warp you from one place to another. Clear Pipe ---------- Transport you from one end to the other. Cannon ------ Fire you to different places. Warp Box -------- Warp you in one place to another. Mystery Box ----------- Purple in color, they warp you to secret rooms with Green Stars in them that you have to collect in 10 seconds or you'll miss them. P-Switches ---------- Blue switches you step on to trigger an event. P-Panels -------- Large floor tiles that are similar in function to P-Switches. Checkpoint Flag --------------- Save your progress midway through the level, sometimes called midway flags. Exiting the level removes the save. Flagpole -------- Sometimes called Goal Poles, they are at the end of each level. Hitting them will mean you finished the level and will get you out of it. Character Switch ---------------- The symbol on them shows what character they can be pressed by to reveal the Stamp or some coins. M - Mario, L - Luigi, Crown - Peach, Blue Mushroom - Toad, Grand Star - Rosalina. Speed-up Pads ------------- They speed-up any character's speed considerably, but they prevent you from stopping completely until the effect wears out. Flip-swaps ---------- Blue and red platforms that flip every time you jump. First introduced in 2010 that flipped every time you spun, it was changed in 2011 with 3D Land. Play with 4 players to ensure chaos and game overs. Beep Blocks ----------- Introduced as Beat Blocks in 2010, they have been renamed this time. They change block color and position in rhytm to the music. Switchboard ----------- Green rectanges with arrows on each side, these platforms move on their rails every time you stand on that direction. Can fall off rails with no bumpers at the end, which might kill you. ____ ____ ____ _ / __/ |_ / / __/__ ___ __ _ (_)__ ___ /__ \_ _/_ <_ / _// _ \/ -_) ' \/ / -_|_-< /____(_)____(_) /___/_//_/\__/_/_/_/_/\__/___/ I've saved the pain of you consulting this section for enemies - new enemies are introduced in the guide with boxes spanning 19 characters at the end of lines when you meet new enemies! But if you want to see the full list of enemies anyway, here it is. Listed in alphabetical order: Ants/Ant Troopers ----------------- Purple creatures, can be jumped on to use as a platform, cannot be defeated by normal means. Spiked and giant versions exist. Bees ---- Bees are well, bees. They fly around and if they spot you, they fly towards you and try to sting you. Jump on them to defeat them. Biddybuds --------- Come in different colors and walk/fly in groups. Defeated in one hit. Blocksteppers ------------- Soldier-like enemies that are defeated in one hit. They come in groups and ignore you until you kill one of them, when they run around aimlessly until they realize you're the problem. Bloopers -------- White squids that can be defeated with a single hit. Blurkers -------- Enemies that appear only in Plessie stages. You can use them as platforms to reach higher areas. Bob-ombs -------- Walking bombs you can jump on to stun and use as weapons of mass destruction. Boos ---- White circular ghost enemies that follow you, but stop when you look at them directly. Giant versions exist. Brolders -------- Rolling rock enemies that you can stun and use to hit other enemies, grab collectibles or substitute as a second character for multiple P panels. Chaarvaghs ---------- A different version of Magmaarghs that kill you in one hit. Chargin' Chucks --------------- Jerks that charge at you and are defeated in 2 hits. Coin Coffers ------------ Enemies that hide but have a lot of coins. They can be ground pounded to kill instantly. Conkdors -------- Ostrich-like enemies that conk down when you pass by. Killed in one hit. Fire Bros. ---------- Hammer Bros. with the ability to shoot Fire and not throw hammers. In fact unlike other games, these are the most common type of Bros in the game. Fizzlits -------- Purple rectangular enemies that become a puddle of electricity every so often. Jump on 'em while they're purple to kill them. Flopters -------- Spinning flowers that fly in the air then (slowly) try to land on you. Jump on them to make sure it's the last time they ever spin. Fuzzies ------- Black hairy enemies that move in a set path or just stay there. Not kill-able (is that a real word?) by normal means. Galoomba -------- Stronger versions of Goombas that require 2 hits to kill. They're rounder in shape and first originated in Super Mario World replacing the Goombas. Goomba ------ Do I really need to tell you what a Goomba is? If you do need to be reminded of I will assume you have been living under a rock for the past 30 years. Cat versions of these creatures exist. Hammer Bros. ------------ An advanced version of Koopas who are defeated in one hit, but are able to throw projectiles at you. Hop-chops --------- Spring-like green enemies that chase after you. Some become actual springs you can carry when jumped on, but most just obliterate when you jump on them. Ka-thunks --------- Metallic frames with spikes who can't be defeated (oddly their king can, but they can't). Koopa Troopa ------------ Turtles with shells that walk on two legs, one jump kicks them out of their shells and the second kills them. Madpoles -------- Round fish that are blue in color. When they spot you, they rapidly swim toward you. Previously, I called them "Bubblefish", which I think works well enough. Magikoopas ---------- Blue wizards who cast magic spells at you that act as projectiles. Shame they forgot to put a forcefield around them, they die in one hit. Magma Balls ----------- Balls of lava that appear out of lava and roll around while leaving a trail behind them. If you manage to knock them back into the lava, they will simply regenerate. Mice ---- Mice that are gray in color and stay on surfaces that move. They move in the opposite direction and jump occassionally. Spiked versions exist. Mini Goombas ------------ Tiny versions of Goombas that hurt you, but you can use the GamePad mic to blow them away. Octoombas --------- Alien Goombas that shoot cannonballs at you. To defeat them, you have to ground pound them. Parabones --------- Flying Dry Bones that home in on you once you're spotted. Oddly normal Dry Bones don't exist in this game. Peepas ------ Ghosts that never notice you're there and move around in a pattern with their fellow pals. Piranha Creepers ---------------- Purple Piranhas with spiked stems. Creepers live in holes and pipes and can be jumped on or hit. They can be jumped on to use as a platform. Piranha Plants -------------- Plants that eat and chomp at anything that goes past them and hurt you. They can be defeated by Fire Flowers or any other non-melee hit. Giant versions also exist. Potted Piranha Plants --------------------- Potted plants that allow you to chomp on anything they see. I do not consider them to be enemies, but in some Mystery Boxes you have to kill them. Porcupuffers ------------ Big spiky fish that home in on you. You need to kill them using non-melee hits. Rammerheads ----------- Fish with really wide noses that swim in a set pattern and don't home in on you at all. Snowmen ------- Also known as Snow Pokeys, these creatures leave behind snowballs if you defeat them, which you can use to do other stuff. Spikes ------ Green creatures that produce rolling logs out of their mouth and roll them down surfaces. Easily killed using a jump. Spinies ------- These red-shelled creatures have spined red shells that will hurt you if you jump on them. You need to kill them with ranged hits such as Fire Flowers. Stonewall --------- Otherwise known as Walleyes, these enemies try to block your path and have spikes on their body. They cannot be defeated. Thwomps ------- These gigantic masses of stone go up, then slam down and crush anything below them. They are invulnerable to (almost) every attack. Ty Foos ------- These clouds are based on Foos of the New Super Mario Bros. games and in turn based on Fwooshes from the older 3D Mario games. The Bowser flag means it has not been beaten, a Green Star at the top of the flag means all the Green Stars have been collected and the flag will have different symbols depending on the last character to complete it. The flag will also be gold if you hit the top of the flag in the level itself. TOAD HOUSES ----------- Toad Houses are places where you can choose between two boxes which contain different power-ups such as the Super Bell, Fire Flowers and Tanooki Suit. They can be straight out mushroom-shaped buildings to caves located in walls, such as the ones in the World 1 Shrub NE of 1-4 and World 8 in Bowser Castle's wall. SPRIXIE TENTS/STAMP HOUSES -------------------------- The green tents you see are Sprixie Tents that give you free tents. There are very many of these around the Sprixie Kingdom, so if you want 100% you better visit them often. BLOCKADES --------- Enemies from Big Galoombas to King Brolder can become blockades and prevent you from proceeding until you beat them. FIRE BROS. HIDEOUTS ------------------- Fire Bros. have their own hideouts which they often share with other enemies. These hideouts are hidden inside pipes which are hidden in the first place. You need to press A in front of the gray pieces on a circular disc to unveil such pipes. But it does not save your progress in the game so if you return to the Map screen or quit the game, it won't save where you are. --- GREEN STAR ALERT --- The tree north of where you land has a Super Bell if you climb it, but the particular thing of notice here is that you should chase and tag the bunny up on higher ground. Once you tag it, it will leave a Green Star for you. --- STAMP ALERT --- Next, head into the Green Pipe you see along the wall to the north. You will arrive in an area with a Clear Pipe forming a T-shape. Head into the hole through the bottom and arrive on the area above. Collect the glowing blue thing that you see. That's a stamp. There's one per every normal level. This one in particular is a Cat Mario stamp. You use stamps as a template of sorts to post on Miiverse. Exit through the Green Pipe in the corner. As you exit, climb the tree in between the pipe you entered the room and the one you just exited. Climb it and jump towards the platform towards the north. Here, there's a giant green clock you can collect to obtain a 100 extra seconds on the timer. In here, hit the P-Switch to reveal a bunch of blue coins. Collect them all
before the time runs out to reveal Green Star #2. If you're having trouble, try
to memorize the patterns coming in next time, or have friends help out. Also,
being a cat is recommended. (That sounded weird) Once all the coins have been
collected, a Green Star will pop out of the panel. Exit through the pipe.

--- STAMP ALERT ---

As you exit, either Wall Jump or Cat Climb the shaft to get the Cat Goomba
stamp. Continue climbing and use the POW blocks near the group of Cat Goombas
to proceed, or climb the tree east.

If you used the POW blocks, Cat Climb the wall north, then Cat Climb the tree.
After that, scratch the gear as a cat until as high as possible before climbing
the pillar as fast as possible. Then, head into the Smiling Glowing Cloud to be
blasted to the sky above.

--- GREEN STAR ALERT ---

Hit the ? Block in the sky area to get a Starman and be invincible for a period
of time! Use it in conjunction with the speed-up pads here to defeat all the
Piranha Plants. At the end, jump to get Green Star #3.

Head north until you meet the Giant Piranha Plant. It takes .----NEW ENEMY----.

Welcome to Plessie's Plunging Falls! You'll be controlling a mythical creature
known as Plessie in this level and advice: much easier in single-player. You
use the same controls, Control stick/D-pad to move and A/B/2/a/b to jump.

Going after Green Star 2 means missing out on the Stamp. You need to play this
level twice. Choose the rightmost path instead of through the waterfall and
follow the winding path and you will see the Plessie stamp. Collect it.

Continue forward stay in the middle lane once you pass all the enemies and the
ramps. Plessie will then jump off the ramp and angle it correctly to collect
the third and final Green Star.

Once it's been cleared, the path will open to 1-F Bowser's Highway Showdown.

1-5 Switch Scramble Circus makes you turn all the blue ? tiles into yellow !
tiles to proceed. It doesn't matter which way, but you can't step back onto
them or else they will turn back to a blue ? tile. Understand? OK, let's go!

NOTE: The tiles' official name are flipswitches, but I will be referring to
them as tiles.

As you complete the first set of tiles, you will meet a new .----NEW ENEMY----.
enemy called the Biddybud, returning from 3D Land. They're  | Biddybuds are a |
nothing special and they often come in groups and in many   | species that do |
colors. Once you make step on all the tiles, they will turn | their job often |
green and the door will explode, leading to the next area.  | in groups. Jump |

You will now meet a new enemy - Bees. They fly and home in  | them.           |

Anyway, proceed and turn all of the tiles yellow, using the jump pads to your
advantage. Once you finish, be careful, there's a swarm of bees on the other
side. Instead of heading straight for the Warp Box, you might want to do some

Use the left jump pad and Wall Jump or Cat Climb the shaft to obtain Green Star

--- CHECKPOINT FLAG ALERT ---

Head north and hit the checkpoint flag along the way. Now the puzzles start to
become more challenging. It's a grid of tiles with fences and Biddybuds as
hazards. What I recommend is doing the outer circle first before moving inwards
to make it more easier.

Once you're done, the wall will explode allowing you to proceed.

--- GREEN STAR ALERT ---

Use the Jump Pads to proceed north here, but as you go up you will notice a
Mystery Box with Biddybuds around it. Enter it and destroy the northwest-most
block to obtain Green Star 2.

Once you exit, hit the Red Coin Ring to the east and collect all 8 red coins
to get a 1-Up or powerup.

--- GREEN STAR ALERT ---

As you proceed up, you will come to a new area with moving  .----NEW ENEMY----.
row of tiles in the middle with a Magikoopa and a Green     | Magikoopas are  |
Star. I recommend doing the outer circle and stay in a      | wizards that    |

Wall kick off the north wall to get the Super Bell stamp. That simple. Now, on
to victory!

Once you complete this level, the path to 1-F Bowser's Highway Showdown will
reveal. Also, the slot machine will appear.

Mini Goombas here will get blown away, which is a nice little touch. In the
next section, there are 3 parallel platforms. Don't blow to let the first one
reach the end of its path, blow to use the second one and the transfer over to
the third one, let it return and use the Cloud Cannon to reach a bonus area.

--- GREEN STAR ALERT ---

Obtain the Starman and run through this area to obtain a 1UP as you kill all of
the Galoombas. Don't forget to jump at the end to obtain the second Green Star.

--- GREEN STAR ALERT ---

Proceed as usual and again use the touch screen to extend the platforms. You
will notice that under the third platform there is a track. Blow on the mic to
make a platform come and fetch, let your character drop and use the platform to
obtain Green Star number 3.

Use the blow platform and extend the second platform before going to the third
one to be back on solid ground.

Proceed west and do the usual affair, use the blow platform, extend the touch
platforms and GOAL!

Once you finish the path will open to a Pipe with a Toad House and 2-4 Really

Welcome to 2-3, one of the levels Nintendo's really proud of, because boy I've
seen numerous videos and screenshots of it!

This level is more of a side-scrolling level than a Full 3D one, but it's one
of my personal favorite levels in the game. Proceed east and you'll see a
potted Piranha Plant that you can grab. Take it and it takes the role of Yoshi
- it eats everything in sight!

--- GREEN STAR ALERT ---

As you proceed east, you'll come across gaps in between pillars. In the second
gap proceed south, towards the screen, to obtain the first Green Star. See, you
are using shadows to find secrets in this level, which I think is a really neat
idea.

Proceed east once again and you'll come across the annoying .----NEW ENEMY----.
fuzzies. They're no longer annoying (in this level) because | Fuzzies cannot  |
your Piranha Plant devour them whole! Yeah!                 | be defeated by  |

you'll have to jump on it. Don't lose your cat powers, because you'll need it
to obtain the stamp. Use your scratch attack to claw through the bricks under

Welcome to 2-4 Really Rolling Hills! This level has changed quite a bit since
it was first shown off, from changing from 2-1 to 2-4, to changing names from
Mice Hills to Really Rolling Hills and many other minor details in the level.

Anyways, as soon as you head north you'll meet a new enemy  .----NEW ENEMY----.

Proceed east towards the rolling hills with Galoombas and mice. There's a red
coin ring in this area if you wish to collect a powerup or 1-Up. Immediately
east of where you enter, there's a crate containing a baseball that you can use
to defeat the Galoombas and mice if you wish and under one of the rolling hills
towards the southeast has a 1UP if you crawl under it.

--- CHECKPOINT FLAG ALERT ---

You can Cat Climb the wall to the east and a load of coins will appear as you
run but once you're done playing around, head north and hit the Checkpoint Flag
here.

Once you're done, head north and then east towards the Green Pipe in this area
to proceed to the next section.

Take the top route and once the path rejoins, Cat Climb the wall to the east to
access a hidden alcove where a load of coins await.

--- GREEN STAR ALERT ---

Enter the warp pipe below where you're standing and activate all of the floor
tiles here by stepping on them. Doing so will cause the level's second Green
Star to spawn. Exit and proceed east.

You will see a curious item as you enter the level - a Cherry! That's a new
powerup in the game that was put in accidentally by a programmer, but the team
liked it so they made a powerup for it! Anyways, the Double Cherry makes a
clone of your character that follows your every move! Doubles firepower and
doubles the challenge too!

Anyways, a note before we proceed - careful not to lose too many clones as the
level's stamp and one of the Green Stars requires 4 and 2 people respectively.

Proceed towards the northwest corner and jump to hit an invisible block that
contains a Fire Flower, which paired with the Double Cherry is ****ing deadly.

--- GREEN STAR ALERT ---

Proceed east and hit the leftmost crate to the left of the Clear Pipe to get a
second Double Cherry. Now destroy the top-right crate to get the level's first
Green Star.

Use the Clear Pipe and then the Green Pipe to proceed to the next area.

--- GREEN STAR ALERT ---

As you proceed forward, use your firepower to destroy all   .----NEW ENEMY----.
the Blocksteppers, which ignore you until you kill one of   | Blocksteppers   |
their friends, at which point they run around until they    | enemies walk in |
realize the problem: you! If you have at least 1 clone, use | a line and die  |

Use the rightmost Clear Pipe to proceed to the next area. Proceed north and hit
the level's Checkpoint Flag as you go. Use your firepower here and destroy all
of the soldier-like enemies. Be sure to collect the Double Cherry that one of
them leaves behind to spawn the third clone.

Proceed to the easternmost corner of this sloping area and jump just in front
of the purple block to get another Double Cherry for backup.

--- STAMP ALERT ---

Move towards the western edge of this area and get one of your clones atop the
leftmost ? block. Now get another clone to hit below that and continue doing so
until you spot the level's Stamp. Oh and the rightmost ? block contains another
Double Cherry.

There's also a Red Coin Ring in this area if you wish to use it, but once all
your business is done proceed north. You will then come     .----NEW ENEMY----.

In the next room, immediately climb the bookshelf just north of where you
appear. The bookshelves will retract one by one when you stand on them and they
will then reveal a secret alcove with the second Green Star.

--- CHECKPOINT FLAG ALERT ---

Proceed east and soon enough you'll come across the level's Checkpoint Flag. As
you come across the big Boo, head south and you'll come across some invisible
cloud platforms. Walk on them to get a 1-Up.

Head east and you'll come across a pipe. It's fake, so there's nothing you can
do but proceed and exit the area with the door on the far right.

In the next outside area, proceed east. There's nothing of interest here. The
1-Up here is fake too, so proceed and re-enter the mansion with the door on the
far end.

As you reenter, there is 100 timer that you can risk going for, but you
probably shouldn't be running out of time. Proceed east and you'll come across
the door to the exit. But hold on!

Jump onto the couch and have it take you to the level's third and final Green
Star disguised as a pipe. Attempt to enter it to reveal its true identity.
After that, you may exit the mansion.
                                                                               
Proceed east and you'll come across the Big Boos, which you've seen before
inside and are nothing special beyond bigger versions of the Boo. Anyway, the
first Goal Pole is a fake one. The level's true exit is only a short ways
beyond it, so we're done with this level!

Immediately, as you start the level, go south and get the level's first Green
Star atop a cloud platform before you proceed.

Use the level's 3/4 platforms to get to the next area. There, chase and tag the
bunny to get the level's second Green Star.

--- STAMP ALERT ---

Use the 1/2 platforms and as you proceed, you'll come across a ledge with a 10
timer on it. Get to full speed and then run across the gaps west of it. Hit the
switch as Peach to obtain the level's stamp.

Proceed north and you'll come across a Cloud Cannon. Enter it and as usual, get
to the end and jump to obtain the level's third and final Green Star.
                                                                               
Anyway, we're done with this level as soon as you hit the flagpole! This is one
of the few speed run levels in this game, which I personally find very

Immediately, climb the tree to the left of the starting position to get a Super
Bell, which might help you along the way.

Head east and continue along the path. When the track splits into two, take the
bottom route and avoid the Biddybuds here to nab the level's first Green Star.
                                                                               
Take the Warp Box right after to head to the next area.

When heading down the multi-colored slide here, try to take out all 8 Biddybuds
to get a 1-Up. Hit the Checkpoint Flag at the bottom and continue along the
track. When you come across the Jump Pad at the top, DON'T JUMP. Instead, drop
down and head into the Mystery Box.
                                                                               
--- GREEN STAR ALERT ---
                                                                               
Tag the Bunny here before time runs out to get the second Green Star. I advise
that you use the speed-up pads and try to corner him.

In the next area, use the speed-up pads and carefully jump to bypass the gaps.
Once you're back on normal ground. Use the Jump Pad and then let the spring
blocks take you up to the level's stamp.

--- GREEN STAR ALERT ---
                                                                               
To get the level's third and final Green Star it's advised to use Peach. Build
up speed before heading down the slide and use the Jump Pad at the end. Hold
right on the left stick to try and go as far as possible. If you're Peach, you
should have no trouble. On the high ledge, there is the third Green Star.

Anyway, use the slide at the top and at the bottom use the Jump Pad to hit the
top of the flagpole. This level was more of a bonus level, so you'll still need

Switchboards in the next area and when you head around the corner, jump into

As you land on the switchboard, step on the < arrow and crouch to access a
hidden area.

In the next area, use the ! blocks and navigate your way to the north. Hit the
! block and then fall down. Continue heading right, and then when the ramp goes
downwards towards the left, proceed up and get the third Green Star.

After the third fall you'll notice a switchboard on the left. Take it and head
right to get the level's stamp. The original switchboard you took will be next
to the stamp once you get it since it would have rolled down the ramp.
                                                                               
Anyway, use the Switchboards and head east to get the Goal Pole! The path will

Immediately as you begin, rush forward and use the steps to climb aboard the
train. Rush to the left and get the level's first Green Star quickly before i
disappears off screen.

The rightmost ? block off the train is a Cannon Box by the way, so grab that
if you will before you proceed.

The next area contains Homing Bullet Bills in the form of   .----NEW ENEMY----.
Cat Bullet Bills! They might be a pain in the butt to deal  | Cat Bullet Bill |

As you proceed east, beware of the Cat Banzai Bills. And before we proceed, a
quick note: the Tanooki Suit is your best friend in this level. If you had
gotten it earlier in the level, you can spin your tail to redirect the Bullet
Bills.

--- GREEN STAR ALERT ---

Take the Green Pipe you see along the edge and enter it to be taken to the
train in the background. Destroy the crate to free Captain Toad. Don't head
into the Warp Box! Captain Toad has the level's third and final Green Star that
he will hand over as the screen begins to scroll past him.

--- STAMP ALERT ---

Here, drop down to the platform near the edge of the screen and kill the Fire
Bros. in the cave of sorts where the level's stamp is waiting to be collected.

Enter the pipe to face off against the level's boss - Pom Pom.

| Pom Pom seriously isn't hard. She will make clone of herself, but you can   |
| tell the real her because the real one has a pink shuriken, while the other |
| ones have white shurikens.                                                  |

| spot the real Pom Pom here.                                                 |

| The second part she splits herself into 4 and the third she splits into     |
| 6. This is a joke of a boss and if you died here, you really need to train  |
| yourself. Anyway, a Warp Box to the exit will spawn.                        |

invisible ? block next to the far right wall. Then, spin jump (spin your left

To make the next section a lot easier, head just a little ways back into the
cave. There is an invisible block near the final set of bricks that contains a
Starman, so use that to blaze through the walkway with ants. At the end, you'll
find the level's Checkpoint Flag.

appear on the upper ledge. Enter the pipe to get to the flagpole area and we're

ledge. At the very end, you'll find the level's stamp.

Use a Cat Suit to climb the wall behind the Item Roulette block and climb onto
the high ledge. Jump across the platforms carefully and enter the pipe to be
transported to World 5.

If you decided not to skip this world, then proceed reading the walkthrough.
Carefully make your way across the swamp using the moving platforms.

When you get to the rotating platforms with the Creepers, you might want to
take them out first before activating the Green Star Ring. Collect all 8 Green
Coins to make the level's third and final Green Star appear.

The next area is a little bit more challenging with all the bees and Creepers,
but put some elbow grease into it and you shouldn't have much trouble. At the
end, you'll find the exit pipe. Use the Creeper as a platform to get to the
flagpole's top and finish! The path will now form to 4-A Brolder Blockade.

Beep, beep, BOP! The blocks change color depending on the music's rhytm, so you
might want to increase your volume, or play using headphones. Proceed forward
over the first gap and hit the left ? block to get a Double Cherry. This is
what makes this level, so darn challenging - you need 4 and 2 respectively to
get the collectibles, so hang on to as many of your clones as possible. Play in
multiplayer to make this s*** a lot easier.

Continue moving forward and get another Double Cherry from the set of ? blocks,
then proceed left. You need to use the seperator in the middle to split up your
clones but it only gives you coins.

--- GREEN STAR ALERT ---

Move forward in rhytm to the music and when the path splits into two, take the
left path. Jump onto the red blocks and onto the blue blocks when they change
to get the level's first Green Star. Then proceed to the next area using the
Warp Box up ahead.

Take out the Boomerang Bros. here and then jump next to the .----NEW ENEMY----.

Proceed forward and use the Beep Blocks to climb up to the checkpoint area.
There is a Double Cherry south of a platform that extends longer than the other
platforms, but be quick about it since the window for mistakes is low. Hit the
Checkpoint on solid ground, then get all your clones onto the 4 platform to get
the level's stamp. (NOTE: You might want to get the stamp first before hitting
the Checkpoint, since if you die you have no way of getting it again)

Anyway, use the Beep Blocks to descend to the Warp Box area to proceed in the
level.

--- GREEN STAR ALERT ---

Take out all the Boomerang Bros. in the next area then get the next clone with
the Double Cherry in the ? Block, then enter the pipe. Step on the P-Switch,
then collect all the coins before they disappear to get the second Green Star.

Slide down the Beep Block slide and as much as possible try to get your clones
in a straight line before proceeding since that will make it much easier. Try
to keep at least you and one clone surviving, since you'll need them for the
third and final Green Star. If you're not aiming for the Green Star or somehow
you manage to do it with your clones lined up, it might be possible to walk
down the dead center of the slide in between the colors to not die (thanks to
Evan Eckrote for the tip)!

At the bottom, use the seperator to put two people on the P panels to make the
third and final Green Star appear.

Anyway, use the Beep Blocks in the next area to hit the top of the flagpole!
The path will now form to 4-5 Spike's Lost City.

This level basically requires you to use the Bounce Blocks as a way of moving
around, which I'm not a huge fan of. Anyway, proceed forward and use the Bounce
Blocks to get up to the higher area since there's nothing that's particularly
interesting in the first area. At the higher area, activate the red coin ring

Carry that spring over to the checkpoint area and take it to the top-left
corner. You might want to release it once and then carry it again since it will
become vicious again after some time. Bounce off of it to reach 2 bounce blocks
when they are low and use them to get the level's second Green Star. Hit the
Checkpoint Flag afterwards.

There's a Fire Flower in the high ? block near the wall if you wish to collect
it. Once you're done with all your business, proceed forward and use the
Bounce Blocks once again to climb up to the higher area.

--- GREEN STAR ALERT ---

In the next area, enter the Mystery Box on the left. The rightmost Spring is
the one you want, then use it to spring up and then wall jump off the right
wall to get the third and final Green Star.

Get onto the Big Bounce Block and then avoid all the Biddybuds and avoid falls.
One of the brick blocks on the ledge you will come across as the block turns
left is a coin block, but you need to do it fast before the block goes too far
off if you want to survive.

--- STAMP ALERT ---

The level's stamp in in the center of 2 circles of Biddybuds, so either take
them out or just head straight for the bulls-eye to get your prize. After that,
use the Warp Block to proceed to the exit area.

Hit the flagpole at the end to finish this level and onto the next one - 4-5
Spike's Lost City and 4-M!

section consists of 2 of the swinging platforms, just time your jumps

As you climb the second long ramp, activate the red coin ring if you don't have
a Cat Suit to get a Super Bell, which you will need after this for the second
Green Star.

Past the second long ramp, which has 2 lanes of spiked logs, get onto the ledge
with the circular shapes, the wall to the left of the ramp you just climbed.
You will need a Cat Suit to do this though. At the end, there's the level's
second Green Star.

Proceed forward and you'll have to jump carefully across some swinging
platforms. After the third platform, time your jump carefully to get onto the
platform north-west to get the level's third and final Green Star.

Make it across the 4th and 5th platform and just past that is the ramp to the

As you walk forward, a Brolder will appear from the ground. Hit him once and
then grab him since you'll need him for the first Green Star. Toss him onto one

In the next area, activate the red coin ring if you wish to, then collect all 8
red coins by either ground pounding through the bricks or sliding down their
side to get a Super Bell.

Star for you.
After you collect all 3 Green Stars and the Stamp, it's time to face off
against King Brolder, who is seriously a joke of a boss.

the snowy ledge and soon enough you'll come across a pair of Ty Foos. Stun the
first one by touching him on the GamePad, then climb onto the 2 blocks. Jump to
reveal an invisible block, get on it and jump for the level's first Green Star.

Slide down the ramp when the Ty Foos aren't blowing, then head straight into
the cannon to be blasted to the next area.

Head forward and hit the Checkpoint flag, then head north into the skating
section. Avoid the Goombas and head left towards the Mystery Box. Enter it.
Inside, take one of the Goomba shoes and head straight for the end to get the
Green Star before time runs out.

Head north and then right to come across a gap with wind blowing up at times.
The Green Star is also in the pit, but you better time your jump right or you
will die. Jump into it about 2-3 seconds after the wind dies out to get it and
then get out safely. Or, get a second player and toss him into the gap, bubble
him and then proceed on your own.

Now, just proceed northeast, avoiding the Stone Wall enemies and the Ty Foos
blowing. The last set of Ty Foos needs extreme agility - the moment they stop
blowing, make a run for it or you might not make it.

Anyway, head into the cannon and blast yourself to the exit area to finish off
the level to proceed to 6-7 Fuzzy Time Mine.

Proceed forward by following the path, then trigger the Green Star Ring here
and collect all 8 Green coins here before the time runs out to get the level's
first Green Star.

but do keep an eye out for the level's stamp on your left. Instead of jumping
right back on the belt, I advise waiting for the second set since its much
safer.

Continue following the belt and soon enouugh you'll spot a Mystery Box on the
left. Enter it and take out the bully here in under 10 seconds to get the Green
Star. If you're having trouble, either use a Fire Flower or ground pound the
bully to ease the challenge.

Hit the Checkpoint Flag here, then proceed right and follow the belt.

--- GREEN STAR ALERT ---

When you get to the area with the spinning logs on the cylindrical platforms,
on the third cylinder, move south, towards the screnn to get Green Star 3 on a
smaller cylinder, then proceed back to the main path and enter the pipe at the
end to get to the exit area.

Defeat all 3 Bullies to have a belt to the flagpole appear and we're done with
the level! The path to C-A Brolder Blockade is back and C-B Prince Bully
Blockade will appear.

throw them at him to finish him off. Finish him off to have the path to C-5

also speed up the battle and you really should have no trouble, or else the
boss of this world might be a big problem for you. If you experience any
problems with this fight at all, then you will be no match for the World Castle
Boss.

Anyway, just get him to one of the pipes, knock him into it and kick him to
finish him off and have the Green Star appear.

Proceed forward and past the Thwomp, then on the second level, get a Super Bell
from the ? block. When you get onto the second carrier platform, jump towards
the left wall and Cat Climb it to get to a high ledge where the first Green
Star is located, then Cat Climb the wall there to get to a cloud platform with
the level's stamp, then Cat Climb from there again to get to the top.

At the top of the tower, kill all 3 Magikoopas here to have the second Green
Star appear, then proceed and use the Carrier platform to continue.

Head north and hit the checkpoint flag. You'll also come across a locked Warp
Box. The exit is so close, yet so far away!

Head into the tower and use the Jump Pad to collect the first Key Coin, then
head left and stomp on the Fizzlit. Head left and collect the second Key Coin
in plain sight. Use the Jump Pad to get up to the third level and kill the
Fizzlit, then collect the third Key Coin.

--- GREEN STAR ALERT ---

Head right and stomp on the Fizzlit, then roll or scratch or tail attack the
brick blocks in the ground and work your way around the structure to get Green
Star 3.

Head left and get the 4th Key Coin, then use the final Jump Pad to get up to
the top and get the final Key Coin.

Uh-oh, the tower is filling with deadly poison - one whiff and you're dead.
There's not much I can do to help you, so just don't stop and keep running.
Don't try to collect coins, don't do any fancy tricks and don't try to be smart
at all. JUST RUN!

At the bottom, use the Warp Box to exit the area, then hit the top of the
flagpole to finish the level!

When you proceed northwest, you will come across the level's Stamp under grates
that is submerged in lava most of the time. You'll only have enough time if you

Get a Boomerang Flower from the right ? block, then proceed northeast. You will
come across a grating platform near the right edge of the screen. Jump onto it
when the lava is low, then get onto the high platform, avoid the Magma Ball and
throw your Boomerang towards the southwest to get the third and final Green
Star.

Finish the level off by entering the cannon, then carefully avoid the Magmas to
make it to the end of the level. Hit the flagpole to finish the level off and
have the path to C-F Bowser's Lava Lake Keep.

Defeat all of the spiked ants here and drop into their hole using a Boomerang
Flower. If you don't have one, one of the ants does on his back. Inside the
hole you will find the level's stamp, then use the Clear Pipe to return.

Continue right and defeat the ants here in the same manner and drop into one of
the holes and hop into the Mystery Box. Just run towards the end and you'll
find the second Green Star, once you're back outtside, use the Clear Pipe to

Continue heading right and hop into the cannon. You'll soon come across the
goal, but you still don't have the third and final Green Star. Long jump NE
past the goal to land on a far off island. There, tag the bunny and he'll give

All right, this is it folks - the final level! You might want to stock up on
some infinite lives before you go and grab some extra items, but once you're
ready, press that A Button and let's get going!
                                                                               
Head forward and ground pound the Octoomba so he won't cause any trouble, then
proceed forward and jump past the gap. Kill the other Octoomba here too, then
use the platform he was on to proceed. Now use the moving platform on the left
side and kill the final Octoomba before heading into the Clear Pipe to the next
area.
                                                                               
Steer clear of the Fire Bros. in this area and slowly but surely make your way
up north. At the top, you need to run across the platforms. I suggest building
up some speed first, then jump to the right and run across the platforms. You
need some skill to get past this section, but if you have a Tanooki Suit and
you're playing as Peach, it is possible to make it to the end by jumping on the
Chargin' Chucks, gliding to the next one, jump on that one and repeat. Once you
make it, there's a Warp Box on the other end.
                                                                               
--- GREEN STAR ALERT ---
                                                                               
Enter the Warp Box and in the next area, if you DON'T have a Tanooki Suit, the
best thing you can do is long jump from one Blast Block to another in the first
section, then just jump from one block to another in the next one. Again, using
Peach is highly recommended. Make it to the end just before the Cannon to be
awarded Green Star 1 for all your hard work, then head into the Cannon.
                                                                               
In the next area, the platforms will fall beneath your feet, so you want to
hurry up and kill all 3 Magikoopas to make the Warp Box to the next area appear
in the middle.
                                                                               
--- GREEN STAR ALERT ---
                                                                               
If you have a Lucky Bell with you, now's the time to use it - they defeat the
swinging spiked logs! Slowly but surely do it and don't lose your powerup for
as long as possible. There is also a Potted Piranha Plant near the beginning,
but it's on a very narrow platform, so if you have a Lucky Bell, just skip it.
Once you make it to the end, grab Green Star 2 before you head into the Warp
Box.
                                                                               
You will need to wall jump up a shaft filled with Spiked Ants, so take your
time and slide down the wall and don't jump if there are ants in your way -
better late than never, but anything later than 500 seconds might be very bad.
Anyway, make it to the top and you will come across a slightly easier challenge
in which you need to use the Piranha Creepers to jump all the way to the top,
which should be an easy job for any veteran Mario player.
                                                                               
At the very top, enter the water block, then just follow its path. This should
not be too hard, but might take some time. Don't try to be smart, don't try any
fancy tricks by trying to go through the spiked blocks, just follow the block's
path all the way to the right, then back left. At the top-left, enter the Clear
Pipe to proceed.
                                                                               
In the next area, you will use the boost pads to make it past the Death Laser
Shooter thingies. If you have a Tanooki Suit, it should make it much easier. A
Lucky Bell might also help to some degree, but it might be hard to find a spot
to turn back into a real cat since the enemies continually fire the lasers.
                                                                               
--- GREEN STAR ALERT ---
                                                                               
After the first long track of the boost pads, grab the final Green Star before
you head to the next area of boost pads. You now have to collect all 5 Key
Coins while avoiding an insane amount of laser rings. I can't help you much,
but again, Peach or a Tanooki Suit will help. Collect all 5 to unlock the Warp
Box.
                                                                               
Enter the Clear Pipe and try to use the fastest path possible through the pipes
if you're low on time, but if not, just sit back and relax till the section
ends! Marvel at your work, now's the time to celebrate that you've (almost)
completed the hardest level in Super Mario 3D World!

The most annoying feature of this level is that son-of-a-gun Venus Firetrap in
the center, firing fireballs at you like you're his enemy at war. Oh wait, you
area. Anyway, you will get a chance to kill him later, but for now just avoid
his fireballs.
                                                                               
Drop off the side, then use the platform next to the one you're on to reach ---
Green Star 1 ---, then return to the floating platform you were first on. When
the lava is low, make a mad dash across the non-sunken platform to the floating
one on the other side. Head onto the tall platform and stay there.
                                                                               
Now drop off the other side of the platform and at the next floating platform,
turn and grab --- Green Star 2 --- from the alcove, then head back to the
floating one before the lava kills you.
                                                                               
When the lava is low again, drop off onto the blow platform, then drop off the
blow platform to the floating one. When the lava level drops again, make a mad
dash for the next blow platform. Blow it to grab --- Green Star 3 ---.
                                                                               
Now, repeat the same techniques to get to the donut platforms. Grab --- Green
Star 4 ---, then head to the area with the final blow platform. Avoid the Venus
Firetrap's fireballs and when the lava is low, drop off to the final blow
platform and use it to get to the cloud area above. Get the --- Stamp ---, then
drop down and kill that son-of-a-$%*&! Venus Firetrap before grabbing --- Green
Star 5 ---!
