Credits (--------------) ( INTRODUCTION ) (--------------) For at least a year, Cartoon Network has had a great online game known as Cartoon Orbit. They have been known for their cToons, and they were the big craze on Cartoon Orbit, until the fateful day that gToons came along. Whereas cToons were used for decorating your cZone, gToons are used for playing a game called, well, gToons. The rules are simple, and after you read the rules, you should understand, unless you have the memory span of a goldfish, which I hope you don't. Anyway, on to the FAQ. NOTE: My name is Mr. Snorky Hound on Cartoon Orbit. You may contact me whenever you like. (--------------------) ( HOW TO PLAY GTOONS ) (--------------------) When beginning the game, you must choose one of your decks. Then both yours and your opponent's deck will show a card, which will be the bottom card of the respective player. The Main Colors will be the color of the cards at the bottom. For example, say that the bottom cards of each deck were Daffy Duck (a Blue card) and Green Lantern (a Green card). The Main Colors of the game (which give you extra points, and can help you win the game) will be Blue and Green. If the two colors are the same, then there is only one main color. For example, the bottom cards are Daffy Duck (a Blue card) and Dexter (a Blue card). Since they are the same, the Main Color is Blue. I'm not exactly sure, but I think that a single-color game gives you more points if you have that color, than if it were a game with two Main Colors. Another way to get a Single-Color game is to have one card be a Black or Silver-colored card. For example, if the bottom cards were Aquaman (a Purple card) and Dexter's Mom (a Silver card), the only color would be Purple. There is also a way to get a rare No-Color game. To do this, you must have both bottom cards be a Black or Silver-colored card. For example, if the bottom cards are Batgirl (a Black card) and Cootie Bug (a Silver card), then there are no colors that you can use to win or get points, and the only way to win is by beating your opponent in points. Now that we understand everything about your bottom card, we can move on to what goes on within Round 1. In Round 1, you will receive 6 gToons in your hand at the bottom-right corner. You can hover your mouse over one of the gToons to see it at its full size, with its point number, color, features (like animal or female), and power (if any). At Round 1, there are four spots on the game board. That's where you put 4 of your gToons. To place them there, click the gToon you want to place and drag it to the spot you want to put it in. If you mess up, you can drag it back to the bottom right corner (your hand). Remember to look at powers, and try to put out as many cards with one of the Main Colors (if any) as you can (as long as it has a reasonable amount of points). You should know your deck well to be able to figure out card combinations to use (such as Superman Unchained and Brainiac). Remember to NEVER put in two of the same character (no matter what round it is). For example, you can't play two Billy cards or they will cancel each other out. You also couldn't play Bugs Grinnin' and a Bugs with Carrot cards, or they would cancel each other out. Even if it isn't the same card, it is still the same character. Remember, you have a time limit, so keep checking the time, and try to make your actions fast. When you are done placing all four gToons, click on the 'Ready' button near the timer. When your opponent is done, you will both see each other's gToons. If any gToons are the same, they will be cancelled out. All powers will be put into effect, Main Color cards will be added to the Scoreboard, and points will be added to the Scoreboard. You will now be able to discard up to two of your gToons from your hand (which is how many you should have). Remember what your bottom card is, and think about what you may need for your next turn. Discard no cards, one card, or two cards, by dragging the cards you want to discard from your hand to the little box next to your hand. When you are done, click the 'Ready' button near the timer. When your opponent is done, Round 2 will begin. Three more spaces will appear underneath the four spaces you had last round. Your hand will fill up to six gToons. You can now do the same things you did in Round 1. Again, you shouldn't play the same character. However, if you want to cancel out one of your opponent's characters, you can play the same character as they have. It will cancel out both yours and your opponent's character. After you're done placing them the way you want, click the 'Ready' button near the timer. When your opponent is done, the two cards furthest to the left will be flipped over and powers will be put into play, points will be added, and Main Color cards will be added. You will now have the decision to swap your last face-down card for another one in your hand, for the cost of 10 points. To do this, click the 'Yes' button on the far left. If you don't want to, click the 'No' button on the far right. When your opponent is ready, the third one will be flipped, powers will be put into effect, points will be tallied up, and so will the Main Color cards of each player. If any Silver cards are in play on your side, you may choose a new Color for all of them. There are two ways to win. You can win by Color, or you can win by Points. To win by Color, you must have more than your opponent of BOTH colors. Say that the Main Colors were Orange and Blue. You had 2 Oranges and 1 Blue, and your opponent had 1 Orange and 0 Blues. You would win by Color. If you had 2 Oranges and 1 Blue and your opponent had 2 Oranges and 0 Blues, you would count the Points up. To win by Points, you must have not lost by Color, and you must have more Points than your opponent. (Note: You cannot win by Color if it is a No Color game or a Single-Color game.) It is more often that someone wins by Points, but that's just from my experience, so I'm not sure. (--------------------) ( THE CHALLENGE ZONE ) (--------------------) To get to The Challenge Zone, move your mouse over the 'Compete' button and select 'Challenge Zone'. You can also get here after saving changes to your deck (see Chapter 4). On the screen, you will see your name and a bunch of other names. There is a drop-down list that you can click to sort things out. You can see; All (everyone, on or offline), On Orbit (not in the Challenge Zone, but still on Cartoon Orbit), Ready (in the Challenge Zone), or Playing (in the middle of a game). You can also type inside the Search List, and type the name or number of someone you are specifically looking for and you will get to them (after pressing 'Go'). At the bottom-right of the screen, you will always see your stats. At the top-right you will see the selected person's stats. Underneath that person is a button that says 'Send Challenge'. If you click it, you will challenge this person to a game of gToons (only do this to people that are Ready). If you have nobody selected (or if you go to the bottom and click the button) you can click a button that says 'Instant Match', and you will be automatically entered into a game with someone at random. You can click 'Make Buddy' to make a person you have selected as your buddy. Then you can click the 'Buddies' tab to see their status. If you have no Buddies, it will be empty. Next to the 'Buddies' tab, is the 'Challenge Inbox' drop-down list. If this is flashing, click on it and you will be able to select one of the people, and then click 'Accept Challenge' to accept their offer to play a game of gToons with you. This is about everything to know about the Challenge Zone. (---------------) ( DECK BUILDING ) (---------------) Deck building is an important step in gToons. To start working on your decks, go to the 'Compete' tab and click on 'Deck Builder'. I like making themed decks. Three of my decks are themed. My 'Deck B' is a deck with a Justice League theme. My 'Deck C' is a deck with an Animal theme. My 'Deck D' is a deck with a Powerpuff Girls/Dexter's Lab theme. Other ideas would be a Cartoon Cartoon theme, a female theme (with Cootie Bug and Pebbles Baby), or a theme revolved around a show (such as Ed, Edd, N' Eddy with Rolf, Ed, Edd, etc.). Look at your cards, and make sure they're mostly powerful, or they work well with other cards (usually with special powers). You can use each card you own only once per deck, but in as many decks as you please. To move a card to a deck, go to the 'My gToons' button and click and drag the one you want into the deck that you want to put it in. To remove a card from a deck, go to the deck and click on the card you want to remove, and then click 'Remove gToon'. Remember to ALWAYS click 'Save Changes' after you have done ANYTHING to your decks. (----------) ( AUCTIONS ) (----------) Auctions are easy ways to make money (other ways are to visit cZones and other auctions, to sell gToons and cToons that you got for free, and to battle other people). To start an auction, go to the 'Auction' tab and click 'Start an Auction' (obviously). Now, scroll through your cToons and gToons and click on the one you want to auction. You will be taken to a new screen. You can now view stats of the cToon or gToon, set its price, and set how long the auction will go for (15 mins., 1 hr., 2 hrs., 6 hrs., 12 hrs., or 24 hrs.). I prefer 15 mins. To get things started, and to sell it for around the price to buy it for. You multiply the price you are selling it for by .10 (10%) and that's how much you have to pay to put up the auction (yes, you have to pay, cheap one). When you're done, click 'Submit for Auction'. To view the auctions you have going on at the time, go to the 'Auction' tab and click 'My Auctions'. You can only have 5 open auctions running at a time. When the time is up, you receive the money from any bids put onto the auction, and the auction is closed. No one can bid on it any longer, and you now have more room to make more auctions to replace the ones that have been closed. (--------------) ( GTOONS TERMS ) (--------------) Most of these terms are made up by me, or are widely used around the Internet, and not just gToons, but it's a nifty way to refer to something. Card - Another name for gToon. Christmas Game - When the Main Colors are Red and Green. Color Loss - A Loss by Color. Color Win - A Win by Color. Deck - The area where the rest of your gToons are held, which you draw to get a hand of six cards each Round. Game Board - The area where you put your gToons into play. Hand - The area where you hold your gToons before putting them into play or discarding them. Insta-Match - Another way of saying Instant Match, but easier and more fun to say. Loss - If you lose the game, it is called a Loss. Main Color - A color picked at the beginning of the game, which gives you extra points if you put a card of that color into play. N00b/N00bie/Newb/Newbie - Someone obviously new to the game. Signs are putting the same character out twice, playing really badly, or using mostly just the cards from the Starter Pack. Obsessive Player - Someone who has played over 150 games of gToons, and mostly has Wins. Ocean Game - When the Main Colors are Blue and Purple. Point Loss - A Loss by Points. Point Win - A Win by Points. Scoreboard - The area where the points are shown and the amount of colors each player has is shown. Sun Game - When the Main Colors are Orange and Yellow. Win - If you win the game, it is called a Win. (-------------) ( GTOONS LIST ) (-------------) Looking for a certain gToon? Press Control + F (or however you get to the Find Menu) and type in the name of a gToon. You will get to the correct matches. If you aren't sure, but you know the character, type in the character's name. For instance, if you were looking for Bubbles Laughing, you could search for Bubbles. I'm going to show you some awesome deck combinations that you could use or alter to work into your deck. Ed, Edd, n Eddy- Cards To Use: Ed - He's a Purple 8-pointer and works nicely with Rolf. Edd - A 6-pointer that's Green that goes along with Rolf and Prop cards. Eddy - Though he's only a 4-pointer, he goes nicely with Rolf. Rolf - Rolf gets more points for the more Ed, Edd, and Eddy cards that are in play. Dexter's Exo-Jock 4000 - Goes along with Edd, since it is a 10-pointer Prop card. Dexter Dimwit - Nicely goes along with Ed, Edd, and Eddy, but I think it and Exo-Jock will cancel each other out. Jawbreakers - Adds points to Edd for being a Prop, plus multiplies the points by 3 to any neighboring Ed, Edd, or Eddy. Cards Not To Use: Sarah - Since this will likely be a deck based around Males and Ed, you don't want her. She removes points from Ed and male cards. Cootie Bug - This card also removes points from male cards. Powerpuff Girls- Cards To Use: Bubbles Laughing - This adds points to all Powerpuff Girls in play. A very nice addition. Blossom Landing - This is a 9-point Purple card that goes well with Ms. Keane, Bubbles Laughing, Gangreen Gang, and Mojo Sandcastle. Buttercup Fighting - This goes nicely with the Villain cards in your deck. Amoeba Boys - This goes nice with Buttercup Fighting, as long as it isn't touching any Villain cards. Gangreen Gang - This adds points to the Powerpuff Girls, and points to itself when next to Buttercup. Mojo Sandcastle - This adds points to the Powerpuff Girls. Professor Utonium - This card goes well with Ms. Keane. If he is next to her, the points are taken up to 11. Ms. Keane - She works well with Professor Utonium and Blossom Landing, and anyone else you have that is Purple in the deck. Sedusa (Ima Goodlady) - She adds on to Bubbles Laughing and any other Orange cards. Unfortunately, she doesn't count as a Villain. Townsville - Adds points to Mojo and the Powerpuff Girls. Scooby-Doo - A high-point Red Animal card that works nicely with Taz. Boo Boo Bear - Adds points on to all Animal cards. This card works nicely with Yogi Bear. Yogi Bear - Adds points on to Boo Boo. Cards Not To Use: None Known Justice League Deck - Cards To Use: Superman - A high-point Green card that goes well with Brainiac. Batman - This card removes points from non-hero opposing cards. It is pretty nice. Brainiac - Adds points if Superman is in play. Flash - A high-point Orange card that goes well with Hawkgirl. Hawkgirl - This adds point to Flash. Green Lantern - This turns all of its neighboring cards into Green cards. This works well with Aquaman. Aquaman - This card adds points to all Green cards and works very nicely with Green Lantern, Superman, and Batman.
