Pimp War - http://www.pimpwar.com FAQs and STRATEGIES V1.0 by Pepperouchou 07/11/2001 NOTE: All information in this guide is based on game 'PW5' (month of July 2001) Pimp War is a free, online game which you play using your web browser. The game is not java-based, but instead uses simple forms to perform actions. You play the role of a pimp and the goal of the game is to become the best pimp in the nation by recruiting hoes and thugs. You must keep your hoes and thugs happy by purchasing supplies and weapons. You also have the ability to attack other pimps in the game or ally with others using the alliance feature. Table of Contents 1. Main Menu 2. Stores 3. Strategies 4. Alliances 5. F.A.Q.s ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MAIN MENU - Username and User ID: At the top of your main menu you'll find your chosen username with your user ID in parentheses next to it. - Ranking: Under the above, you'll find your local rank and national rank in parentheses. Your rank is based on a number of elements: your current net worth, number of hoes, number of thugs, amount of crack, etc. Ranks change all the time, as players are constantly gaining and losing items. - Net worth: Under your rank (at the top of the main menu) is the current amount of money you are worth. This number is based on: amount of cash you currently have, number of thugs, number of hoes, amount of crack and number of low-riders you currently own. Keep in mind that this figure can both increase and decrease depending on how much you gain or lose. - City: Also near the top of the main menu, you'll see what city you currently reside in. All pimps start out in New York city but are given the option to move to a new city if needed. I suggest staying in New York unless you want to join a tough alliance in another city, because you can only transport six thugs with one low-rider and alliances in other cities are pretty tough on you if you aren't in one yourself. - Money: The more hoes you have, the more cash you make. You will make money after: scouting, producing crack and attacking another pimp. The amount of money you make depends on how many turns you use and how many hoes you currently own. Make sure you spend all of your money before logging out to ensure nobody steals any while you're away. - Turns: Without turns, you can do nothing. You are given 2 turns every 10 minutes but the most you can have at one time is 200. If you don't log in for a total of six hours, you will be given 6 bonus turns and if you vote in the poll they have, you'll get an extra 5. - Payout: The hoe payout rate is calculated in percentage. The 'normal' is probably around 30-40% but you can always increase it if your hoes aren't happy enough. The lower this number, the more money you make, so try lowering it from time to time to see if your hoes will be happy making less money. - Happiness: You need to keep your thugs and hoes happy at all times or they will leave you. To keep hoes happy, make sure you have a good stock of crack, condoms and thugs to protect them as well as a good payout rate. For thugs, all they really need is beer and guns. Always keep a gun for every thug you own as well as a good supply of beer and they'll always be happy. The max. is 100, lowest is 0. - Rank movement: Whenever your rank goes up or down, this part of the main menu lets you know how many ranks you went up or down locally and nationally. - Attack Count: This field is in red and lets you know how many attacks you've made (out) and how many attacks you've received (in). After about 10-20 minutes, attack counts will reset back to 0. - Pimpwar News: On the left side of the main menu, this option will take you to the main news page with the latest news about the game. - Message Board: Just as it sounds, leads to the message board for threaded discussion about the game. - Recruitment Board: Where you can go to recruit new pimps into your alliance. Do not recruit on the message board or you'll get some nasty flames. - Pimpwar Chat: Real-time chat with other members about the game. - Alliance Chat: Real-time chat with members of your alliance. - Forums: Supposed to lead to the forums, I suppose, but I get an error when trying to access them. - Report a Bug: Supposedly an automated bug reporting system but does not current work. - Pray to Pimp Gods: Here is where you can pray to the pimp gods and make sacrifices to them. If you sacrifice enough to meet their demands, you will possibly be rewarded in some form. You can only pray to the Pimp Gods once a week. - Pimp Links: Here you can post links to any site as long as: a.) It's a non-commercial site b.) There aren't tons of banners or pop-ups on it c.) It has a good design - *VOTE*: This option leads you to the current poll. You can only vote once, and when you do, you'll be rewarded with 5 bonus turns. - Alliance: If you are in an alliance, the name of it will be displayed here and you can click on it to see the members in it. For more information on alliances, see the alliance section. - Pimp Ranks: Leads you to the pimp ranks page where the top 10 pimps are listed first followed by the 15 pimps above you and the 15 pimps below you with you listed in the middle. - Alliance Ranks: Lists the top 48 alliances. Alliances ranks are based on the total sum of all members' net worth and ranks updated hourly. - Scouting: On the top of the right menu is the scout link. Click this to use turns on scouting for hoes and thugs. There are five different areas you can scout in, but I've yet to find a significant difference in any of them: Casino District Wino Slums Low Rent District Nightclub District Urban Ghetto - Produce Crack: This option allows your thugs to produce crack on the streets and bring it back to you. The more thugs you have, the more crack you produce, but make sure your thugs are happy before attempting to produce. - Attack Pimp: While you can always attack a pimp via a link from his/her profile, this option on the right side of the main menu lets you attack quickly if you already know your victim's number. There are five methods of attack you can choose from, all requiring two turns each: Drive by shooting: You'll need to have at least one low-rider to do one of these. The good thing about doing a drive-by (probably the only good thing) is that you don't lose many thugs and you'll get to see how many weapons your victim has before performing a home invasion. Home Invasion: The most commonly used attack method, here you'll go into your victim's house, your thugs will engage in combat and you'll be able to steal and money found in the house if you win. Jack vehicles: Jacking a low-rider is pretty tough unless your victim has no thugs left to protect it. I only suggest using this method if you find a pimp with 0 thugs and at least one low-rider, but you'd better do it quick before someone else does. Infest hoes with diseases: Just as the name says, this will infest your victim's hoes with diseases, possibly killing some of them if your victim doesn't have enough medicine. Steal hoes with crack: Normally used right after a pimp has lost all of his or her thugs. You'll need to specify the amount of crack you want to use (I normally use 200) but make note that some pimps will protect against this type of attack by setting their payout to 99% making their hoes so happy, they won't leave. - Online pimps: This option will let you see all pimps from your area and within your rank that are currently logged in. - A nice little feature that lets you search for any pimp in the game by either username or user ID. - Pimp Travel: Here, you will be able to move you, your hoes and your thugs to a new city. However, it won't be cheap. For each hoe you decide to move with you, you'll have to pay for a bus ticket and you'll only be able to carry 6 thugs per low-rider. The cities you can move to are: Detroit Miami Beach Seattle Beverly Hills Las Vegas Los Angeles Atlanta - Pimp's Bible: Basically a guide (similar to this one) to the game teaching you the basics of playing, but doesn't contain any strategies. - New Pimp's Guide: A short little guide for newcomers to the game. Doesn't contain any strategies. - Pimp Stats: There are a few statistical categories here... Hoes that have left you Thugs that have left you Hoes stolen by you Hoes stolen from you Thugs you have killed Thugs of yours now dead Low-riders you have jacked Low-riders jacked from you Each day, the leader of any category will be assigned a title on their profile. You also have the option of clearing your stats. - Options: the options menu is where you can change your password, change the appearance of your game, reset your account, edit your profile, be notified via e-mail of incoming attacks or instructions on how to include stats on your web site. - Official rules: The official rules of the game. - Support Center: Seems to be down at the moment. There's some sort of 'slot machine' game here where if the number 1111 pops up, you supposedly win something. I've not yet won, so I don't know what that's about. - Logout: Logs you out of the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- STORES - Corner Store: Here is where you buy all the goods for your hoes and thugs. You can buy three items from this store but do not have the option of selling any of them back (due to the low prices): Item Price -------------------------------------------- Condoms $1 each Medicine $20 per crate 40 oz. New Eubonics beer $2 per bottle Condoms: Obviously to protect your hoes from diseases, you'll need to keep a good supply of these to keep your hoes happy. When starting out, you should have around 1,000 - 5,000 until your hoe count starts to increase. Soon enough, you'll need to have around 15 to 20 thousand of these. Medicine: Cures hoes that contract diseases. You don't really need to keep a good supply of these. 20-50 should suit you fine for the duration of the game. If somebody is constantly infecting you with diseases, then you'll need a few. Beer: For some, condoms are lost more rapidly than beer, but not in my case. The more thugs you have, the more beer you'll need. It's wise to stock up on these early (you should have around 10,000 to 30,000 at all times once you get over 300 thugs) before you get a lot of thugs. - Tek9 Tommy's: This is the weapon shop of the game. Here you will be able to buy and sell weapons for your thugs, as well as hire thugs for protection. You can sell any of your weapons, but not thugs. Item (Buy) Description Price ------------------------------------------------------------------- Thugs Your basic thug $1,000 each Pistols Standard Pistol $250 each Shotguns Side to side double barrel 12 gauge $1,250 each MP5's 10mm Semi-Automatic Submachine Gun $2,500 each AK-47's Fully Auto 30 round clip $5,500 each Item (Sell) Description Price ------------------------------------------------------------------- Pistols Standard Pistol $188 each Shotguns Side to side double barrel 12 gauge $398 each MP5's 10mm Semi-Automatic Submachine Gun $1,875 each AK-47's Fully Auto 30 round clip $4,125 each Thugs: In the start of the game, it may seem like you won't be buying many thugs, but that changes quickly. Since you won't get many thugs when scouting later in the game, you'll have to buy them instead. Make sure you keep an even amount of weapons for your thugs. Pistols: The weakest weapon in the game, you should avoid buying these and instead purchase the other three types of weapons. The only time you'll want to buy many pistols is when you need to make your thugs happy. This is known as 'pistol packing' and should only be done when you have a good supply of AK-47's and MP5's. Shotguns: Also pretty weak, but stronger than pistols. These can be good to stock up on in order to increase thug happiness, but you should still have lots of AK's and MP5's to back you up. MP5's: A very powerful weapon, the MP5 isn't as strong as an AK-47, but is much stronger than shotguns and pistols, plus they're pretty cheap. These are good weapons to buy for your thugs when you don't have enough money to buy AK-47's. AK-47's: Obviously the most powerful weapon in the game. I strongly advise you buy tons of these in the start of the game - they are very valuable in attacks. If you go against someone with 100 shotguns and you have 100 AK's, who do you think is going to win? The more of these you have, the better. - Charlie's Chop Shop: There's only one thing you can buy and sell in this shop - low-riders. While they may sound cool to have, you really shouldn't buy many of these. In fact, I suggest you don't buy any in the start of the game. They make you an easy target to attack plus they're really a waste of cash. You should only need about one low-rider to do drive-by's (which enables you to see your victim's weapons before performing a house invasion) and maybe a few more to increase your net worth later in the game. Item (Buy) Price ------------------------------ Low-rider $5000 each Item (Sell) Price ------------------------------ Low-rider $3000 each - Pip's Deals on Wheels: As with Charlie's Chop Shop, there's only one item for sell here: crack. I rarely visit this shop, as the crack is far too expensive when you can get much more by producing it yourself. However, if you have a lot, you may want to sell some of it for extra cash. Item (Buy) Price ---------------------------- Crack $10 per rock Item (Sell) Price ---------------------------- Crack $3 per rock ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- STRATEGIES - Before logging out, set your payout rate to 99%. This way, your hoes will be very happy and if someone decides to steal them while you're away, they most likely won't go due to their happiness. Just don't forget to set it back down when you play again. - Spend all of your cash before logging out! Don't even leave $1 left for somebody to steal. If you have no cash, nobody can steal it from you. - Always keep an even weapon / thug count. For every thug you should have a weapon. Early on in the game, you should have more AK-47's and MP5's than anything else. The more AK's you have, the more protection you have against attacks. In fact, it's a great idea to have an AK-47 for every one of your thugs if possible. - Trying to swap low-level weapons for AK's? The easiest way to do this is to buy as many AK-47's as possible with the cash you make, then sell the same amount of a lower-level weapon to even the count. The only downfall to this is that your rank will probably drop on account of not buying thugs very often. - When you get higher up in the ranks and you've joined a good, tough alliance (or you have lots of AK-47's to protect you with) you can start buying lots of pistols to keep your thugs happy then stock up on thugs. This method of 'pistol packing' is only recommended if you have a good alliance to back you up or you're loaded with AK's. - Prior to attacking someone who is weaker than you, check to see if they are in an alliance. If so, check out that alliance and its members to ensure you won't be getting some heavy retaliation. - When your thug count passes your hoe count, your hoe happiness will drop dramatically for some reason (I'm guessing that this is a glitch in the game that has not yet been corrected) so you will have to raise your payout briefly. Once you continue gaining more thugs, however, the hoe happiness will return to normal (Note: this has occurred in the game of 07/01). - Do not buy lots of low-riders. Early on in the game, you will become a sitting duck if you have a bunch of low-riders. Instead, spend your money on thugs, weapons and supplies until you get higher up in the ranks. You only really need one low-rider because with it, you can do a drive-by and see your victim's weapons while losing very few thugs before performing a house invasion. Of course, later in the game, you may want to buy a few more to increase net worth. - It's best to stick in New York throughout the game, as most other cities have tough alliances that will pretty much destroy you if you aren't in a good alliance. Plus, you can only move 6 thugs per low-rider, meaning if you own very few low-riders and you decide to move, you will lose lots of thugs and will probably have to start anew. If you really want to move, make sure you do it as soon as possible after the game starts and start/join an alliance once you get there. - If you are attacked badly (i.e. - losing all of your thugs) while logged out, don't fret. If you set your payout to 99% like I advised earlier, you should still have a good hoe count meaning you'll be able to make a lot of money. With this money, you'll be able to buy back a lot of your killed thugs without having to worry about providing them with weapons because you can never lose any of your weapons. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ALLIANCES - To make the game more interesting, you have the opportunity to join forces with other pimps using the alliance feature. Anyone can join an alliance, or you can start one yourself if you wish. Just keep in mind that each alliance can only have a maximum of 20 members. - Alliance thugs: There are two types of alliance thugs: offensive and defensive, both costing around $15,000 each if I'm not mistaken. These thugs will aid you in attacks, which is why it's good to be in an alliance. The only downfall is that to pay for these thugs, all members of the alliance must pay dues from the money they make (amount deducted from your total depends on what the alliance founder has the rate set to). - The 99/99 trick: After you purchase over 99 offensive or defensive alliance thugs, the price increases. The 99/99 trick is rather simple: once you have exactly 99 of both types of thugs, stop buying them and stockpile your cash until you have around $9,000,000-10,000,000, then buy tons of thugs at one time. This saves you lots of cash because you bought them all at the normal rate instead of the increased price. - Alliance net worth: Your alliance rank is based on one thing: your net worth. Combine all of your members' net worths to get the overall net worth of your alliance. - Don't form super alliances (two or more alliances with 20 members each that team together to cause destruction). It's cheap and unfair to the other players in the game, plus it's against the rules. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q. How many turns should I use for scouting? A. I tend to use about 30 turns every time which gets substantial results. Q. How about producing crack? A. 15 turns works well for me, but you may want to use 20 early in the game. Q. What's the best area to scout in? A. I really haven't noticed any significant changes between the different areas to scout in, but I prefer to do my scouting in the Low Rent district. Q. How is my net worth calculated? Crack = $3 each Thugs = $750 each Hoes = $2,000 each Condoms = $.10 each Medicine = $5 each Low-riders = $3,000 each Q. What should I keep my % payout set to? A. Whatever keeps your hoes happy, really. The lowest I've set it to is 8% with 100 happiness, but the normal is around 20-40%. Q. What should I spend my money on? A. Thugs and weapons if you have a good amount of beer/condoms. Q. What's the point of living in another city? A. Each city has different variables which affect your pimping, plus since most cities aren't as populated as New York, your local rank is bound to be pretty high up. Q. What's the 99/99 thug trick? A. See the 'Alliances' section. Q. What happens when I pray to the Pimp Gods? A. If you sacrifice a lot, something good may happen, though this is entirely random so I can't really explain what happens. Q. It says signups are disabled. When can I sign up? A. Spots go fast, so if you don't snag a name near the start of the game, you'll have to wait until the next one starts (at the beginning of the following month). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pimp War (c)2001 Happy Empire This guide (c)2001 Pepperouchou
