I have so many accounts on so many different things, I always forget my password. So, if you do a usersearch on gameplayer1424,it doesn't look like I'm that experienced, but I am. NeoPets is a great game. NeoPets and RuneScape are similar. They both revolve around you taking care of you life. For example, in NeoPets, you're life are your pets. In RuneScape, it's your character. The money in NeoPets, are Neopoints. The money in RuneScape are Gold Pieces. The fact that you're dealing with money makes Neopets such a popular game. If you want to search for something on this guild guide, press CTRL + F. Then, type in what you want to search for and press ENTER until you reach the section you want to read about. If you want to search for "CONTESTS", you should hit CTRL + F and type in 5. Contests. Then, hit ENTER, and you'll be at that section. I've made this Guild Guide because for a long time I've been searching for how to make guilds sucessful. Now I know exactly how they work. I hope this guide will help you make you're guild big and sucessful. Please, if you're still not sure about something, please NeoMail gameplayer1424. However, since I just started to build my own guild as opposed to work for another sucessful guild, mine is still being worked on. In this guide you will learn the basic structure of how guilds work. I cannot explain the complex structures because the kinds of guild I run are guilds that do things. So, I would never join an anime guild. That doesn't interest me. I love music, but I wouldn't join a music guild because I'm on NeoPets, I want everything to be about accomplishing things that revolve around NeoPets only. So, if there's a Paris Hilton guild, I wouldn't want to join. Why? What can I get out of a Paris Hilton guild? Nothing but pictures. Therefore, I only go for guilds that give away things and that have contests. This is the first guide I've written so I hope you find it useful. I'm not exactly sure if I put enough detail into it or if I put in the right information. Anyways, just contact me if you need help. +---------------+ | | | BASIC OUTLINE | | | +---------------+ Guilds are an add-ons in NeoPets. They are like mini MySpaces. But, there isn't any advertisements. That's against the rules in NeoPets. You post bulletins, and you post notices like your birthday on the calendar. I will explain the different parts of the guild. First of all, there is the guild home. On this page, there is normally a ton of HTML coding. On some really popular guilds, they use a layout from a separate website. I can't explain those because they don't work. You really need know how HTML Coding works and what NeoPets allow and don't allow. For example, many popular guilds have a GeoCities webiste that have more information because they like to keep their guild organized. However, instead, you can just change the Pet's Page. You can go there by going to pet central. Then clicking Pet's Page. Finally, click edit. Anyways, the guild home page is where most guilds will keep their announcments. Then, there is a message board. That is just like the bulletins in MySpace. What you'd normally see is messages that say: Hey everybody! I was just saying HI to the guild now that I'm back from my summer vacation! I hope everyone is doing well. -Bye! Those messages are from members that aren't important. Other messages are like: Hello! This is your leader GamePlayer1424. I have made a guild info page, please check it often. I have been sending neofriend requests after you reply to one of my messages, if you do not recieve one, that is because I haven't gotten to you, you will not accept neomails from non-neofriends, or you are too young. Please be pacient with this. Also: ACCEPT THE REQUESTS!!! THEY ARE USED FOR 1NP AUCTIONS!!! Coming this January we will have: - Birthday Gifts You will recieve a piece of cake and 500 NP. To get the gift, post your birthday on the calendar (I monitor it to make sure no one cheats!) - Donation giveaways that run through two months The prize is relative to how much is donated. This starts early (It starts September 1st - October 31st). - Book Reading contest This will take place April 1st. Whoever's pet is most intellegent will win an unread book! To enter, please neomail gameplayer1424! Also, if you have any other ideas, please neomail gameplayer1424! Thank You! ~GamePlayer1424 (leader) Those kinds of messages are very important. They keep the guild updated and running smoothly. However, not everyone checks the message board, so that's why your guilds guild home should be updated almost daily too. Those are some examples of useless messages and useful messages. Ahh... The guild calendar. This is one of the most useless features in the guild. It's a tiny calendar that has the dates of the month and arrows to move months. If a date has an event it will be in parenthasis so you know something is happening that day. Most of the events are birthdays. If the guild relied on the calendar to spread guild events around, that guild would fail so fast. No one really looks at every event filled date exept maybe the members that work for the guild. However, it is a good place to keep your backup information. If somehow you loose data, it'll be stored in your guild calendar. The guild poll is very helpful if you're trying to make your guild better. For example, a question might be: How do you like the guild? _Perfect (5 out of 5) _Great (4 out of 5) _Okay (3 out of 5) _Bad (2 out of 5) _The Worst (1 out of 5) However, no matter how long you've had your poll without changing it, there won't be very many results. That's just because most of the guilds that have a lot of members don't do much with the guild. So, those are the guild features. There is the Guild Home, Guild Message Board, Guild Calendar, and Guild Poll. They can all be helpful in a way. In the future if there are different features in the guild, NeoMail me. +-----------------+ | | | CHOOSING GUILDS | | | +-----------------+ There are many different ways you would choose a guild. For starters, you don't want to stay in a guild that you don't like. If an important member of the guild asks you how they like the guild, you shouldn't tell them you don't like it because then you should be in a guild you like. Using keywords are great. For example, at the bottom of the guild page, you could type in "anime" if you want to join an Anime guild. If you would like to join a guild that helps people, you could search "free". So, you know that you could search by keywords. The other way to find a guild for you is by trades and the shop wizard. What you need to do is look at the users userlookup. If they have a guild, click on the link and see if this guild looks like a guild you'd think is good for you. Something you should remember when you're looking for a guild is that if you're going to a guild that you like is that guilds with more members are sucesssful. However, they have more people to deal with. For example, if they have 100 members and say they give out painbrushes when you join, they won't keep their promise. Paint brushes are 40,000 - 800,000 NP. Let's say they give out happy neggs. They are only about 4,000 - 6,000, so that's much more affordable and you are likely to get it. So, my point is, is don't join guilds that promise paint brushes when you join. Another thing you should remember when you want to join a good guild is that if you see that someone that helps you understand something about NeoPets is that since they helped you, they might have wanted to help other people by having a guild. Since they helped you, you have a good shot at trying their guild if they have one. If you choose a guild a guild that you're friend is in and don't like so you leave it, you should try making your own. When you fail because you don't know how to make it look good, you should really give it a shot and ask the leader some questions and give them some suggestions. So I hope if you are going to choose a guild, you will choose wisely because you can't be in more than one guild at a time. Remember, if you still have trouble choosing a guild, try mine out at: http://www.neopets.com/guilds/guild.phtml?id=2437213, you'll understand the difference between good parts of guilds and bad parts of guilds. good and bad. +----------+ | | | CONTESTS | | | +----------+ There are many contests guilds can have. Some of them include Donating Contests, Book Reading Contests, Prize Contests, and 1 NP Auctions. I will explain them step-by-step. +-------------------+ | DONATING CONTESTS | +-------------------+ These contests should give out prizes worth about 5,000 NP for first place and have prizes through third place. This contest is meant to make the guild money for better prizes. They work simple. To start with, there is a date it begins and a date it ends. Inbetween those two dates you should go to to guild shop. This could a shop from a council member or trades from a council member. You buy the item and the shop-owner will mark down how much you bought and who bought it. If it's done at the trading post, they council member with the donation item/s will mark down how much money you got and how much the item/s you donated are worth. At the end of the contest, the council members will talley up who donated the most. However, the guild shop needs to consist of items selling for over 1,000 NP so it goes into your history. That's how donating contests work. +-----------------------+ | BOOK READING CONTESTS | +-----------------------+ This contest is a very independant contest. You will only see an end date. There can't be a beginning date because no one will be able to catch cheaters. What the contest is, is giving one of your pets as many books as possible before it ends. Whoever's pet is most intellegant by the day the contest ends will win! I know this is a little confusing, so if you have any questions, just neomail gameplayer1424. +----------------+ | PRIZE CONTESTS | +----------------+ These contests are just like donating contests except the prizes should be worth more than 5,000 NP for first place. These don't have to be donating random items and neopoints, they could be specific items like codestones. Otherwise, this contest has the same idea. +---------------+ | 1 NP AUCTIONS | +---------------+ This isn't really a contest. It's an event where one of the council members buys an item worth 60,000 to 100,000 NP. They make neofriends with their entire guild so everyone can participate. They put it in the auctions as a neofriend only auction starting at 1 NP with a minimum incriment of 1. So, it'll be really cheap but really hard to win with a big guild, but it's still fun. +-----------+ | | | GIVEAWAYS | | | +-----------+ Giveaways are hard to make good. Just like the "Contest" section, I will explain each of the giveaway's one at a time. +---------------------+ | Member Of The Month | +---------------------+ This is a common giveaway in almost every guild. Every month the council members agree on one person to give a reward for. The reward can be anything. If you're a winner and you only win a 1,000 NP worth plushie, you shouldn't complain because you may not have gotten anything. +---------------+ | GIVEAWAY DAYS | +---------------+ Giveaways can be simple and affordable like jelly giveaways or they can cost a lot and can be secret laboratory maps. If the guild wants a giveaway and they don't have a lot of money from the guild to do it, then they would do something like an omelette giveaway, where one of the council members is generous enough to donate enough for one free omelette for each of the guild members. +----------------+ | BIRTHDAY GIFTS | +----------------+ This is my made up giveaway. If you want your guild to be known when your birthday is, you need to post it up on the guild calendar. Then, your council, will search the birthdays and when it comes that day, one of the council members will give you 1,000 NP (or however much your guild leader decides) and a Giant Slice of Neopets Birthday Cake. +-------------+ | | | THE COUNCIL | | | +-------------+ http://www.neopets.com/guilds/guild.phtml?id=2437213 If your guild leader doesn't change the names of the council, they will be order in the following: I. Leader II. Master III. Secretary IV. Treasurer V. Spokesperson To run a successful guild, the leader can't run it all. Here's a list of jobs each of those council members can run the guild: Leader: Full authority over the guild Master: Communicates between the secretary, treasurer, and spokesperson to the leader. Secretary: Keeps track of all events. Suspends and bans members that are taking advantage. Treasurer: Keeps track of all money and prizes. Spokesperson: Spreads event dates and information from the leader. However, the leader will hold all the money, prizes, and everything that they really don't want to risk being lost when they first get their council members. If you didn't understand, see if this helps: Leader: They created the guild, they get total power. Master: It's like a LIT (Leader In Training), they learn what everyone needs to do. Secretary: Takes messages from phone calls or hangs up. They take messages or write down when all of the events are. They hang up or suspend or ban members from the guild. Treasurer: If the leader wanted to have a donation contest and wanted the prize to be a petpet paint brush, they would ask the treasurer if the guild has enough neopoints to do it. Spokesperson: They speak to the guild. They advertise to the guild what's going on. +-------------------+ | | | BASIC HTML CODING | | | +-------------------+ This section is self explanitory. Any neomails or e-mails will be ignored. To end any code, type in the same thing but with a "/" after the "<". For example, I want to make the first word big, this is how it would look: This font size is larger. This text is the regular size. Images: Table: Cell Across: Cell Down:
