(151 descriptions to go) 06/04/05 - v0.30 : Added all but Games and Areas. 02/04/05 - v0.00 : Started this guide, created basic layout. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> < 4.Starting Out > <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< To start playing Neopets the first thing you have to do is sign up for an account, this is a relatively simple thing to do, just choose your age, username, password and the rest, you get 200NeoPoints for signing up, as of the time of writing there are over 94 Million users, so you'll probably have to add some numbers to the end of your username. ******************************************************************************* * a.Creating A Pet * ******************************************************************************* The next thing to do is to create a pet, you are allowed 4 Neopets at any one time, and you get 50NeoPoints (referred to as NP from here on) for creating a pet. To create a pet you simply click the Create A Neopet link (http://www.neopets.com/addpet.phtml). You can then pick your pet type from 50 different pets, some are unavailable and are listed as restricted or limited edition (this will be covered in the Pets section) apart from the way they look all the pets are pretty much the same. On the next screen you need to choose the name, again there are 133 Million pets so you'll have to be pretty imaginative to get a pet name that doesn't need numbers on the end of it. of your pet and it's gender, likes and colour. On the next screen you are given your pets stats, (Health, Strength, Defence, Speed, Intelligence, (Covered in the Your Pet section) you are given 5 chances to re-roll these stats, but on the 5th re-roll you’re stuck with them, so if you get a reasonably good set of stats, keep them. Click the button at the bottom and you’re done, you’ve created your pet. You also have the option to adopt a pet from the pound, if you want to do this then click the Pet Central link (http://www.neopets.com/petcentral.phtml) and click on the Visit the Neopian Pound link (http://www.neopets.com/pound.phtml), you can then view the various pets that area available to adopt, by adopting a pet you might get a pet that has higher stats than one you can create, but you can't rename it, you also have the option to abandon you current pet here. You can see the status of your pet by clicking its name in the top-right corner of the screen. ******************************************************************************* * b.Opening A Bank Account * ******************************************************************************* Link: http://www.neopets.com/bank.phtml One of the first things you should do in Neopia is open a Bank Account. You get 30NP for opening a bank account. You should open an account and deposit your NPs there, as if you are carrying around a large amount of NPs and you are unlucky enough to have an event happen where they are stolen, you'll be very annoyed as your life savings are gone. You can upgrade your Bank Account so that you get more interest, to upgrade the account you need to have a certain amount of money in there. You can then use the drop down bar at the bottom of the page and choose a higher level of account. You can also withdraw money from your Bank Account, you can withdraw enough money to take you below the limit for your current account, this however does not change which account you have. Eg You earn 50,000NP, and deposit them in your Bank Account, you then decide you want to upgrade your account to a Double Platinum Account. Then you withraw 10,000NP, this does not change your account to a Platinum Extra Account. The different Accounts and their minimum deposits are: Junior Saver - 0+ Neopian Student - 1,000+ Bronze Saver - 2,500+ Silver Saver - 5,000+ Super Gold Plus - 10,000+ Platinum Extra - 25,000+ Double Platinum - 50,000+ Triple Platinum - 75,000+ Diamond Deposit - 100,000+ Diamond Deposit Plus - 500,000+ Millionaire Mega-Platinum - 1,000,000+ Neopian Mega-Riches - 2,000,000+ Ultimate Riches! - 5,000,000+ Different accounts give you different amounts of interest. The first thing you do when you visit the bank is collect your interest as if you withdraw or deposit any NP while there is interest left to be collected, you will be unable to collect that days interest. ******************************************************************************* * c.Opening A Shop * ******************************************************************************* You may want to open a shop fairly soon or wait for a while either way starting out is pretty much the same. It costs 200NP to open a shop, when you open the shop you are given the option to Name it, give it a description, choose a shopkeeper and the shopkeepers greeting. You can also choose which area the shop is located in. To stock your shop go to the quick Stock link (http://www.neopets.com/quickstock.phtml) and select which items you want to put into your shop. Then use the Shop Wizard to find out how much the item is selling for, and then price your item around the price of the cheapest item. To price your items, click the Shop Stock link then type in the amount of NP you want to sell your item for in the box. To make your shop larger click the Cost To Upgrade: xNP on the Create/Edit Shop link. It Costs 200 for shop size 1, 400 for size 2, 600 for size 3 etc. If you win an item from a game, or aquire one from any other means, that you don't want, look it up on the Shop Wizard to check the value, then put it in your shop for sale. You can change your shops appearance using HTML tags, including changing the background, adding music, and other things. If you add a background make sure that people coming to your shop can clearly see the items and their prices. If i ever look at a shop that has unreadble item prices, i don't waste time highlighting the text, i just go to a diferent shop. ******************************************************************************* * d.Your Safety Deposit Box * ******************************************************************************* You can deposit items in the safety deposit box as you would deposit NP in the bank. The Safety Deposit Box can hold an unlimited number of items, this is useful as you can only hold 50 items in your Inventory. Items in your Safety Deposit Box cannot be stolen, and are safer than they are in your Inventory. To use an item in your safety deposit box you must move it to your inventory first. There are various interactions avaliable with items, to see these click on the item in your inventory, a new window will popup with a description and the various avaliable actions in a drop down list. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> < 5.Pets > <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< There are currently 49 Neopets avaliable, 39 of these can be chosen anytime, 2 are restricted and can only be aquired by doing certain tasks, 8 are limited edition and are released in small numbers every so often (Draiks are obtained in a different way). Below is a list of the pets: NORMAL Usul ==== Usuls are brave little tree folk who are very loyal to their friends. In cold weather the Usuls are the first to break open their food stores and share them with their pals. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kougra ====== Kougras were discovered in the deep forests of Mystery Island, feasing on the exotic fruits also found there. One of the Kougra's favorite games to play is coconut bowling, and they just LOVE to practice pouncing on each other. What else would those enormous paws be good for? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bori ==== Bori are timid little creatures that rarely leave their underground home. THeir sharp claws mean they are especially good at digging. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shoyru ====== The Shoyru is a firey little creature. Treat him right and you will have a friend for life, but if you are mean to him, he will never forget. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scorchio ======== Scorchios are friendly most of the time. They prefer hot climates, especially the deserts and Volcanic regions of Neopia. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Eyrie ===== Eyries inhabit the tropical climates of Neopia. They are very playful but can also be ferocios at times. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quiggle ======= Quiggles are happy-go-lucky charachters that love to spend all day splashing around in ponds and puddles. Quiggels love to eat fresh vegetables and always have a large stock of carrots, broccoli and asparagus nearby. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pteri ===== You will often find Pteri nesting high in the treetops of Tyrannia. They like nothing better than playing tricks on passers by and filling the air with their squawking laughter. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aisha ===== Aishas are strange creatues with special abilities. They have acute hearing and a penchant for magic. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ixi === These dainty little creatures, origionally from the ancient land of Meridell, skipped into Neopia one day without warning. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yurble ====== Cute and cheerful the Yurble is happiest when scurrying through teh undergrowth in serach of food. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Uni === Unis are vain little Neopians who spend hours preening themselves to look their best. They are very inquisitive but hate getting their hooves dirty. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wocky ===== Wockys are brave, adventurous Neopians. They love to explore new territory and discover hidden treasures. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Techo ===== Techos love to laugh. They enjoy making others happy by performing acrobatic stunts and telling jokes. They are rarely unhappy and will always look on the bright side of life. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- JubJub ====== JubJubs are very shy creatures who like to keep to themselves. When threatened they curl up into a bal and roll away as fast as possible. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lupe ==== Lupes are incrdibly loayl and like to spend their time prowling around Neopia ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Peophin ======= Peophis are a rare magical creatures. They are very shy and don't mix with other species very often. They are rumoured to bring good fortune and happiness to those around them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Blumaroo ======== Blumaroos love to bounce on their long tails. They are joyful creatures who are often seen hopping through the tropics of Neopia whistling happy tunes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Grarrl ====== Grarrls are ferocious creatures or at least try to be. With lots of care and attention Grarrls can grow to be some of the strongest Neopians. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ruki ==== Originating in the barren regions of the Lost Desert, Rukis are very hardy creatures that can travel great distances without getting tired. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mynci ===== The Mynci is a lovable pet. Their agility and balance helps the Mynci to fly high gathering food from teh trees and high plains. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Korbat ====== Korbats are nocturnal inquisitive creatures with a keen sense of smell. Despite their vampiric appearance they are almost always friendly and welcoming. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Zafara ====== The Zafara is an adventurous little Neopian. Treat them right and they will bring you lots of lick. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Elephnate ========= Despite its cute appearance Elephantes are not completley harmless. They can fire objects from their trunks with amazing accuracy and a rampaging herd is very formiddable indeed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kyrii ===== Kyrii appeared in Neopia onr day without any notice and began making friends straight away. Although Kyrii like to travel together in packs, they get on well with other spcies. Watch out though, if their fur gets dirty, they can get very upset. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kacheek ======= Kacheeks are a shy little species that live in teh lush meadows of Neopia. They will avoid violence whenever possible nd love to make new friends. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Meerca ====== The Meerca is super fast and really small which makes it very different to grab hold of. Meercas are talented pranksters that are very rarely caught. If your Neopet complains that someone has stolen its Fuzzle, a Meerca is probably to blame. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chia ==== The Chia is a lovable charachter who is full of joy. Chias love exploring the land and making new friends. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nimmo ===== Nimmos are very spiritual beings. They value peace and friendhip above all else. If you are looking for a loyal intelligent friend then Nimmo is the Neopet for you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lenny ===== The Lenny is a highly intelligent curious bird. In time the can learn to master many forms of magic and use their cunning to outwit any opponent. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Moehog ====== Moehogs are origionally from the mountainous regions of Neopia where they were bred as livestock. They would carry items up and down the mountianside for lazy Skeiths until they decided to set up their own villages elsewhere. Young Moehofs enjoy having snorting contests to see who can create the biggest cloud of dust while making the most noise. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Acara ===== Acaras are a playful bunch that love to live by the sea. Ther favorite pastimes are diving for hidden treasures off the coastline and playing Gormball on the beach. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Buzz ==== Buzz use their keen eyesight and aerobatic skills to help themselves to the tastiest wild berries and fruits, much to the dismay of the Neopian farmers. They can also zoom to the top of the Tigersquash tree and pluck 3 of the plumpest fruits and whizz off in the blink of an eye. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Skeith ====== Skeiths are the largest inhabitants of Neopia. They are quite strong but also lazy, preffering to get smaller creatures to the things for them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kau === Kaus travel inherds moving from place to place looking for the ultimate Neopian pastures to play in. They love to sing although they only know a single note... MOOOOOOOOOOO ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Flotsam ======= Flotsams love to swim through the vast oceans of Neopia. They are very quick and can sense danger by studying the temperature of the waters and the movement of the clouds. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tuskaninny ========== Tuskanninty are fun loving creatures who love swimming and basking in the sun. With the right training they can become quite fearsome fighters. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bruce ===== The Bruces love competition, and they love to dance. You will often see them having major dance-offs in Happy Valley, the last Bruce standing wins. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gelert ====== Many Neopian legends tell of a Gelert's selfless acts of courage. Once you befriend one, you can gurantee you will have a faithful pal that will never let you down. LIMITED EDITION Kiko ==== The amphibious Kiko is just as happy on land as it is in water. They dislike very dry places and need to be near water when young. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jetsam ====== Jetsam's are Neopias mean fighting fish. They are mostly unfriendly and vicious but if you can befriend a Jetsam then you have a powerful ally. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cybunny ======= Cybunnies live in the coldest regions of Neopia. Thick fur keeps them warm and they can easily disguise themsleves amongst the snow. Young Cybunnies love to frolic in the cool winter air and like nothing better than a good game of Snow Wars. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Poogle ====== Poogles were originally discovered in the Northern provinces of Neopia. They may be cute and cuddly, but dont be fooled, these critters have extremely sharp teeth. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Koi === These Maraquan natives are friendly, outgoing and very inventive. Among their many creations are the Utility Fish, a PetPet and household helper rolled into one. If you want a fun loving playmate then the Koi is the one for you! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chomby ====== The Chomby was found in the land of Tyrannia, a prehistoric kingdom miles beneath the surface of Neopia. It is a shy plant eater and is happiest munching on leaves and grass. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Draik ===== These cute little dragons appeared in Neopia one day without much warning at all... its as if they come from another world... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tonu ==== Tonu are native to the land of Tyrannia, hatched from the gigantic eggs of some unknown monster. They love nothing more than to charge around and cause havoc, knocking over whatever gets in their way. RESTRICTED Grundo ====== After centuries of imprisonment by the evil Dr. Sloth, whoi transformed them into his hideous servants. The Grundos have returned to Neopia, Grundos are naturally friendly, and try sometimes too hard to be cool. They will eat almost anything. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Krawk ===== The magic of the Krawk Island Fungus Cave is used to transform these baby reptiles into fully-grown Krawks! Krawks are loyal creatures with an appetite for mischief and a very vicious bite. GETTING A GRUNDO Grundos are the easiest of the special pets to obtain. After you have signed up to Neopets, got to the Virtupets space station then click on the Adopt A Grundo doorway. You will then be allowed to create a Grundo GETTING A KRAWK You need to have a Krawk PetPet attatched to your Neopet, you then need to go to the Fungus Caves on Krawk Island and feed the Krawk PetPet some fungus, it will then turn into a Krawk. GETTING A DRAIK You need to first find or buy a Draik Egg. In the popup menu that appears select Feed To {pet name}. Thats all there is to it. The Hunger scale is as follows Dying-->Starving-->Famished-->Very Hungry-->Hungry-->Not Hungry-->Fine--> Satiated-->Full Up-->Bloated You can get free food for your pet from the Giant Omelette in Tyrannia, and the Giant Jelly in Jelly world. This isbetter than buying food from the shops. Your pet will not die if it is not fed. You can keep your pet fed very cheaply by booking it into the Neolodge, this can cost as little as 140NP for 4 weeks stay, you can still play with your pet while it is staying in the Neolodge. ******************************************************************************* * b.Training Your Pet * ******************************************************************************* Health, Strength, Defence and Level can all be increased at the two training schools in Neopia. There is The Academy on Krawk Island which charges Dubloons and the Training School on Mystery Island which charges Codestones. Dubloons can be won by playing games on Krawk Island, whereas Codestones must be found or bought. To train your pet got to one of the training schools and select which course you want and what stat you want to increase. Depending on your level the cost and time the course will take will change. When you have chosen a course, pay for it then it will start, when the course is finished, click the complete course button to increase the pets stat. Intelligence is increased by reading books to your pet, if you read enough books to your pet you will get a trophy. Once you have a book, then to read the book to your pet is the same as if you were feeding it. Reading the same book twice doesn't increase your pets intelligence either, so check which books youve read first. Also when a book is read it dissapears. ******************************************************************************* * c.Illness * ******************************************************************************* NeoPets can get sick, cures are sold in the pharmacy, this sells out very quickly however. So check the Shop Wizard. I can quite easily get 10,000NP a day just from games. Some people get much more than this. Check the games section for a full games listing with ratings for how good they are at earning you NP. When you play a game you usually have the option to submit your score at the end. If you have a low score you shouldn't submit it as this wastes one of your daily plays. Have another go and see if you can get a better score. ******************************************************************************* * b.Restocking * ******************************************************************************* This is the other main way to make money. You buy an item from one of the official Neopian shops, EG the Pharmacy. You then put this item in your shop. As items in the official shops sell for less than they do in player shops, this is an easy way to make a profit. You have to be fast however as there are also many other people buying the items from the official shops at the same time, trying to make a profit too. that this is part of the Dr. Sloth plot that has been postponed.

only Sloth himself could be behind such a dastardly contraption. It is also
said that those who don't know how to properly use the machine disappear and
are never heard from again, though they all seem to leave a nice pile of
sludge behind. 

But that's all just  rumour. Hogwash, even. Nothing could be that full of
doom. If you've got one of those special tokens, why not give it the machine
a try and prove the theories wrong? It can't hurt, right? Right?! 

You need Neocola tokens to use the Neocola Machine. You can get these from the
space station.

center you see a massive pile of treasure... thousands, possibly millions of
rare Neopian items, the biggest hoard you have ever seen. 

On top of the pile of treasure you see a massive worm made out of ice. This
must be none other than the Snowager! You have heard legends about this beast,
about its greed, and how it likes to eat Neopets for every meal (and sometimes
between meals too!) 

The Snowager sleeps between 6-7AM, 2-3PM, 10-11PM. Come here at one of those
times for a chance to steal an item from his hoard, or you could wake him up
and he might attack.

southern Tyrannia. She has been in power for the last 5 years, and nobody has
ever questioned her fair and compassionate rule. 

There are about 130 grass huts in Tyrammet in total, it is home to over 500
prehistoric Neopets. They spend their time hunting for food, making tools,
building new houses, and of course.. eating :) In the village square, you can
always find a Gargaraptor or two roasting on a spit. 

Tyrammet is currently celebrating the victory over the evil forces that held
it for so long. Congratulations to everybody who helped defeat the evil
Monoceraptor!!!

levels of job are harder but the rewards are higher. The basic jobs are taken

manage to complete her Quest, well, we will let you find that out for
yourself. 

If you do not want to do a Quest, or you think it's impossible, you can
refuse. If you do this, you will not be able to take on another Quest for
a short period of time. Doing this will make the Faeries very annoyed. 

If you are on a Faerie Quest you cannot use the Shop Wizard, this is when
being part of a Guild helps immensely.

These are collectable cards, they can be bought or found all over Neopia. To
get to your Neodeck, click the games link and then click Collectable Cards at
the bottom of the page, next to the stockmarket and other links. To add a card
to your Neodeck click on it while in your inventory and select, Add to Neodeck 
from the drop down list. Battle cards look similar to collectible card but
cannot be added to your Neodeck. There are over 300 different cards avaliable
to collect.

Neodeck cards are not the same as Trading Card Game cards.

The cards colour indicates its rarity: The following list is all the colours

As well as collecting cards for your Neodeck, there are also stamps. These can
be found in random events or coan be bought from the Post Office. You are given
a stamp book free. Once a stamp has been added to the book, it cant be removed,
so make sure you dont add one if you dont want to. Trading stamps can be a 
profitable way of making money as there is always a demand for the collectible
items in Neopia.

Like many other games that are played online, Neopets has Guilds. These are a
collcetion of like minded players who form a group, usually based on a common
interest. Eg There are Anime Guilds, Runescape Guilds, book Guilds and many
many more. To join a guild you can either post in the guild section of the
Boards or you can go to http://www.neopets.com/guilds/index.phtml and look for
a guild to join. Then just submit your name to the guild, its easy.
Guilds consist of a leader, four council members and the rest of the members,
some guilds also give trusted members positions such as Guild shop keeper and
various other things. Most guilds offer some kind of insentive to join, this
is to attract more members.

You can also create your own guild for other members to join, managing a guild
can be hard work though. So make sure you can handle it before you start one.

trade items by giving them to someone and then they will give you the NP or
items or whatever. This is a SCAM.

friends and just generally talk about pretty much anything to do with Neopets.

If you start being abusive to other users in the Boards, you will most likely

as sometimes youll get soething valuable, othertimes youll get junk. The
