The Navigation bar is what makes Dark Galaxy simple to play. The bar looks something like this. |Home |Planets |Military |Navigation |Messages |Alliances |News |Rankings |Logout | Home ----- The Home button brings up the Overview page. The overview page contains links to the user preferences and the Credits; you can change your password and email address in the user preferences page. The overview page also has your ruler name, score, credits and ranking. The overview also has Dark Galaxy Announcements, which tell users of new messages and or news you may have received, this will also contain important messages that the game developers will post. Planets ----- The Planets button will bring up the planets page which contains your planet list. Here is what a planet may look like: 1 2 3 1| Planet Name || Resources || Activity 2| 1:1:1:2 ||62% [Stored Metal] +186 || Building 3| ||62% [Stored Mineral] +124 || 4| Population ||66% [Stored Food] +66 || 5| 15,000 ||50% [Stored Energy] +50 || -= Learning the Planet Table =- 1 2 3 1| Planet Name || Resources || Activity 2| 1:1:1:2 ||62% [Stored Metal] +186 || Building 3| ||62% [Stored Mineral] +124 || 4| Population ||66% [Stored Food] +66 || 5| 15,000 ||50% [Stored Energy] +50 || Column 1, row 1 shows the planet's name, column 1, row 2 shows the planets coordinates, and in column 1, row 5 shows the planet's population. In column 2, rows 1-5 show the Stored Resources, Resource income/Hour and the planets abundance ratings. In Column 3 rows 1-5 are the links for Building, Production, Training, and Assembly. -= Abundance's =- In "Learning the Planet Table" I told you about Abundance's. Abundances are ratings of the planet that decide Resource income. They are the Percents and are used by buildings to also decide the Resource income. The higher the abundance's the better the planet. -= Resource Income =- Buildings and Abundance Ratings decide resource Income. These are the +'s. The Income is stored in the stored resource columns which contain unlimited storage. -= How to build =- After storing enough resources you can build structures by clicking building and then selecting the bullet next to the structure you want to build, now scroll down and click start building. -= Building up keep =- Each Structure requires Energy upkeep to keep it running. This up keep will be taken out of your Energy income/Turn. -= How to Demolish =- To demolish you must have a Structure built. Now click the building link and then scroll down and find the list of completed structures and find the structure you want destroyed and click the demolish link that corresponds. After demolishing a building you will get the Buildings up keep back. Military ----- -= Fleets =- Each planet has 3 fleets. 2 Mobile fleets and 1 Shipyard Fleet. All freshly produced ships will be placed in your planet's Shipyard Fleet. The Shipyard fleet cannot move, in most cases it is used for defending a planet. The mobile fleets are the fleets that can move between 2 different points. -= Drives =- There are 3 different drives Planetary, Stellar, and Galactic. Planetary can move between planets inside of a system. Stellar drives can move between sectors and the TP and also has the same capabilities as the Planetary drives. Galactic drives can move between Galaxies and has the same capabilities as the Stellar drives. The ship with the highest drive decides the fleet's drive (Planetary is the lowest drive while Galactic is the highest drive). -= How to Transfer Fleets =- First you must be in the military section, next click the bullet next to "Transfer Ships/Fleets" then select the fleet or ships you will be transferring. After this select the corresponding option then click go. (Fleets/ships must be at the same planet to transfer into another fleet) -= How To load/unload/buy/sell =- First you must be in the military section, next click the bullet next to "Load/Unload goods" then select the fleet or ships you will be Loading/unloading/buying/selling. After this select the corresponding option and what to load/unload/buy/sell then click go. (Selected ship(s) must be cargo ships) -= How to Move fleets =- First you must be in the military section, next click the bullet next to "Movement" then select the fleet or ships you will be moving. After this select the corresponding option and what coordinates you want to send the fleet to, then click go. (The fleet you are moving must be a Mobile fleet). -= Colonizing uninhabited Planets =- First you must be in the military section, next click the bullet next to "Colonize uninhabited Planet" then select the fleet or ships you will be Colonizing with. After this select and type in the system's name and the planet's name, then click go. (You must have a loaded outpost ship at an uninhabited planet to colonize). -= Invading Hostile planets =- First you must be in the military section, next click the bullet next to "Invade Hostile planet" then select the fleet or ships you will be invading with. After this click go. (You must have a loaded assault ship or drop ship at a hostile planet to Invade. All hostile fleets orbiting that planet must be destroyed also). Navigation ----- First click the Navigation Button in the Navigation bar. Now you will see the universe, this will include all Galaxies and Trading Posts. On the left hand side is the easy way to explore the universe you type in the coords you want to see then press the go button and this will pop-up the map of the coords you inputted. Otherwise you can click the links to explore. Each Galaxy has 40 sectors; each sector has 40 systems; while each system contains 3 planets. So a galaxy has a total of 4,800 planets. Messages ----- -= Reading messages =- First click Messages then click the read button and then click the message you want to read. -= Replying/Composing =- To reply follow the above step and click reply at the bottom of the message. To compose a message First click messages then the compose button then type your message, subject line, and the user your sending it to, then click send (Much like E-mails). Alliances ------ -= Starting/Creating an alliance =- Do you have friends that play Dark Galaxy? Then this is where you can team up with them and other members to forum an alliance. When you first start out you will be in a sector alliance (I would suggest you leave this alliance). Now you can create an alliance by going to alliances and clicking Join/Create. Alliances have special benefits, such as "Teamwork" (allied fleets don't fire at each other). This "Teamwork" can be used to attack other hostile players. -= Joining an alliance = First you will need an invitation to an alliance, next you need to click the "alliances" button and then click the Join/Create button. This will bring up a page with all the invitations you have received. Click Join to join that alliance or click reject to reject their invitation. -= Leaving an Alliance =- First you will need to be in an alliance, after this you need to click the alliances button. Next you have to click the Join/Create button and it will bring you up to the page with the link "leave current alliance", click it to leave your alliance. -= Alliance Administration =- If you are granted special powers in an alliance, you can remove members, invite members, Change member titles, and change the message of the day (MOTD). News ----- This contains all the news you received. All your combat reports, alliance invitation's, and invasion reports will be posted here. You can delete each news item to save server space. Rankings ----- This button will open the Rankings page; this will contain links to the Top 50 players, alliances, and planets. (Words of advice: Never miss a turn you should be constantly building!) After your abundance income for Metal and Mineral are +1000 or above (You will also have to build Fusion Reactors or Solar Generators to supply the buildings with energy)(You may have to build a Farm or Food Replicator to feed your population). Next Build a Launch Site, followed by a Shipyard Lv1 and then a Settlement, you should also produce an Outpost Ship, after you have the Outpost Ship Colonize your X:X:X:3 Planet ASAP. With this Big #3 planet you should use it for mining. Check its best abundance and build some mines and a Settlement. After this Build Deep core mines on for the planets highest abundance (Don't use it for Food use it for Metal or Mineral). While you are doing this you should produce a Freighter on your home world and build a Shipyard lv2 ASAP. (Use the freighter to ship extra resources from your #3 planet). With the Shipyard lv2 build a merchant and as many outpost ships ASAP. Next with the merchant and outpost ships send them into an empty sector lets say X:26-40:X:3 (If your in an alliance your alliance may have a sector for you) now colonize like crazy and use them for mining. After you own as many planets you will need to start building structures like Barracks, Assembly Plants, Shipyard lv3's, Weapons factory lv1-3, etc. Next you will need to train soldiers, assemble robots, and produce warships. (Your main war fleets should be based at your home world, because currently your home world cannot be invaded) (I suggest that you have no soldiers on your home world, because home worlds cannot be invaded)(I also suggest that you have 200,000 robots and at least 20,000 soldiers on #3 planets, 100,000 robots and at least 15,000 soldiers on #2 planets, and on #1 planets 50,000 robots and 10,000 soldiers on # 1 planets.) (If you see a hostile fleet coming to one of your planets load that planet full of soldiers, and robots and or send a war fleet to defend.)(When invading do a population scan of the hostile planet, build Assault Ships I say at least 5 and load each assault ship with equal amounts of soldiers Ex: You need 100,000 soldiers to successfully invade a hostile planet you have 5 assault ships so each ship gets 20,000 soldiers. The reason behind this is if you have 5 assault ships and only load 1 assault ship full of 100,000 soldiers and during space combat that 1 assault ship is destroyed you lose 100,000 soldiers instead of 20,000, so this makes it a point to have many assault ships.) ============================================================================== ######### # FAQ's # ######### Q: Why do I have to view an advertisement screen? A: You don't have a premium account. If you have bought one and are still receiving Advertisements contact the Web-masters. Q: I am under attack, How do I know who is attacking me? A: Build a comms center and check daily for incoming fleets, and if invasion occurs you will see the name of the invader. Q: Does it really take X hours to build a structure? A: Yes, at first it may seem long but after a bit of time it may seem too fast. And in speed games you will wish it took longer to build. ============================================================================== ########### # Updates # ########### July 20, 2002 - Version .1 - Not very much done here just outlined the basics of the Guide, and added the Table of Contents.
