BASICS G0200 =============================================================================== Like in most Urusei Yatsura stories the main protagonist is Ataru Moroboshi with the main attraction being Lum in her ever-popular tiger-striped bikini and knee-high go-go boots. Other characters such as Benten, Ran, Sakura and Mendou also make appearances. The game only uses two buttons. Button 1 is used for confirming actions whereas Button will cancel or return to the previous menu. It cannot get much easier than this. The screen is also divided into three parts. The menu is displayed on the right side with various commands as applicable to the current situation. The game tends to cut down several useful actions only which is quite a step up from other visual novels back in those days. The top displays the text, either spoken dialogue, thoughts or plot info. Spoken dialogue only occurs for new dialogue as far as I can see. The remaining part of the screen shows your current location and characters in the area. It is really well done and often you think a video is playing as opposed to boring static pictures, with the colorful scenes always making it interesting...oh wait this is not a review. =============================================================================== 03.) FAQ GXX00 =============================================================================== Q: Are there any cheats for this game? A: There are a few: At the title screen, enter the Continue menu. Once inside, you'll hear the girl tell you something about the RAM. If you press Button 1, she'll say it again. Repeat this 16 times and then hold Right + Button 2 + Start and press Button 1. If done right, you'll access the Debug Menu. After the credits are over and the pink screen with the words "I will stay with you... forever" appears, hold Left + Button 1 + Button 2 and press Run. If done right, you will get numerous hidden visuals. While playing the sliding puzzle, hold Button 2 and press Start to automatically win. Q: Can I play this on an emulator? A: I normally do not discuss these things since they are technically illegal no matter how you spin your freedom of speech/digital copyright act crap and abandonware myths, but I can understand that owning a PCE is not going to be easy for many people and it is unlikely this game will be available for legal online download to the West. Thus the best method is emulation really. MagicEngine might come to mind but I always had it crashing at the main menu although they claim it was fixed already. It is also not free to use that emulator. Find Ootake and mount the image, you can also make an install with that emulator to skip mounting it next time. The emulator is a little strange at first but with some time you will find it is actually amazingly rich in features and performance is outstanding. Q: What is the special edition release of this game? A: It comes bundled with a music CD with, you guessed it, music from the game. I personally think the music is nice although I don't know about actually playing the music CD for ambience, maybe rip a couple of songs for a playlist. =============================================================================== YY.)
