Introduction ==================== INTRODUCTION Hello, thank you for selecting my faq to check out on Super Baseball Simutator 1.000 for the SNES. This is my first faq and wanted to start with a small and easy game (and one that would fit on Notepad on Windows ME) SBS is, in my opinion, one of the better baseball games for the SNES just because of the unique features of the game called ultra plays. I hope you can find my first FAQ useful. I will progress to better games in the future (Zelda, Mario, Mega Man, etc.) VERSION 6/18/2007 version 1.0: Just finished section IV and now I'm tired of typing. This should be the only version as it is my first FAQ. I'm just starting with a small game right now. ==================== III. ULTRA PLAYS ==================== ULTRA HITTING Listed from personal favorite to least favorite: 1. Missile Hit: costs 5 U.P. The best ultra play overall between batting, hitting, and fielding. Any player who has this play most likely will bat 1.000 over any season unless he’s out trying to stretch too many bases. As for the poor fielder who gets in the way to make a catch, I hope he enjoys the feeling of slamming into the fence at 100 mph, but then somehow after about five seconds they actually come to their senses and get the ball. It’s a sure double everytime, unless you edit a team and give missile hit to a fast hitter... The best part is with a perfect hit you can knock 3 or 4 players at once to the wall. 2. Meteor Hit: costs 2 U.P. Another fielder toppler. This time a piece of the bat flies out along with the ball until it hits the ground or renders a outfielder unconscious. The only downside is hitting it into a ground ball where it produces no effect. 3. Bomb Hit: costs 4 U.P. What can I say, I love it when the out (or in)fielders get knocked on their @$$. This time it just explodes in their face and knocks them cold. The only reason this ranks below the meteor hit is because if you hit a ground ball it explodes right back to the catcher and even the fastest player is usually out at first. The bomb is usually given to the best power hitter. 4. Shadowless: costs 5 U.P. Well if you can’t knock the fielder out, why not decieve them. Probably the hardest catch to make if you’re in the field because there is no fielding ultra play that can help. The shadow makes all the difference in making and calling the catch and when it’s gone, chaos is soon to follow. 5. Orbit Hit: costs 3 U.P. The best ground ball hit especially if given to someone with little power and quick speed. While the ball is revolving around the poor sap that threw it, a fast runner can always snatch a couple of bases, even a slow runner can at least get on or make second in that time. 6. Tremor Hit: costs 4 U.P. Purely the only ultra bat that has no defense. If it hits the ground, no ultra play can stop it for about 3 seconds while the runners are the only people on the field who can move during the quake. Also if the ball goes into a fielder it just goes right though him. 7. Freak Hit: costs 2 U.P. Well it is pretty cool when you hit the ball one way and the next thing you know it’s bouncing the other. My problem with it is that I either hit a fly ball for an out or everytime I hit it into the ground it just bounces back foul. Freak hit was a good idea but it ended up being almost impossible to use unless you are good at dunking in those base hits. Don’t look for a high average though. 8. Squirrel Hit: costs 2 U.P. Another good fielder deciever in which the ball snakes its way through the infield and to the wall if it snakes around everyone. If hit slow and missed it can easily turn into an inside the parker no matter how fast the runner is. 9. Hyper Run: costs 8 U.P. Another good idea but it is basically useless. So you can run to first base at 150 mph and then you’re back to your slow self again. The bad things are that if you’re higher in the lineup then the player is already fast enough to get to any base and if you’re lower in the lineup then he’s probably slow and is going to be left on base when the pitcher grounds into the double play anyway. 10. Spinner Hit: costs 4 U.P. Cool, when the ball is hit the entire baseball field revolves until the ball hits the ground or leaves the infield. It is useless against a computer opponent because they automatically catch it anyway, and unless you hit a line drive it is useless against most human players. It is supposed to disorient everyone. But it doesn’t do it long enough. 11. Shadow Hit: costs 5 U.P. Instead of being shadowless, the ball grabs onto two more shadows and has three traveling under it. Now I don’t get why when you hit a Shadowless, the fielder just stands there, "DUUH, Should I get the ball?", but when you hit three shadows at them they make the catch 98% of the time. That’s why I don’t like this play. 12. Invisiball: costs 3 U.P. Decieves the fielders sometimes on liners and grounders. If hit in the air the ball reappears halfway down the field for an easy catch. It’s an okay hit but compared to the others this one is just plain boring. 13. Dizzy Ball: costs 3 U.P. Talk about a headache, the controls reverse during the entire play. Now I have always hated this one and I always wanted to know why when the ball hits the wall don’t the controls go back to normal. If the controls don’t go back to normal then the squirrel hit should continue snaking after it hits the wall. 14. Leaf Hit: costs 2 U.P. Who came up with this brilliant idea, the ball in the air turns into a leaf and floats down to the field (for a nice easy catch, when it might have been a home run.) Enough said here. 15. Hyper Hit: costs 9 U.P. Well supposedly, when used it is supposed to double up a hitter’s power. Not only is it useless and doesn’t work but it is a waste of 9 good ultra points. It isn’t worth 9 of my unlimited points or 5 or even 1. Normally when used it always grounds out. ULTRA PITCHING Once again listed from favorite to least favorite: 1. Speeder Ball: costs 6 U.P. Use the up and down on the control pad to change the speed of the ball. This is the best pitch to me. A whole lot of Ks have been racked up by this pitch. 2. Photon Ball: costs 8 U.P. Talk about throwing one’s arm out. This pitch reaches up to 200 mph. Extremely hard to hit and you are probably lucky to foul it off. 3. Multi Ball: costs 3 U.P. The greatest of decieving pitches. The pitcher splits up into four pitchers and each throws a ball, but only one ball is real. 4. Fire Ball: costs 6 U.P. This pitch starts out normal but halfway to the plate it burns fire and ups the speed to about 150 mph 5. Stopper Ball: costs 9 U.P. Ouch 9 points. This one is more worth it though than the Hyper Hit. Hitting the A button during the pitch stops the ball somewhere along the pitch path for 1 to 5 seconds at random. This is one of those pitches that the computer swings at 8 times while the ball is still near the mound. 6. Warp Ball: costs 3 U.P. When pitched, pressing the A button will warp it half way to the plate, or halfway it will warp to the plate and be very difficult to hit. 7. Zig Zag Ball: costs 3 U.P. A very big curve ball controled by the left and right on the control pad. If used well it can be thrown all the way to the side of the screen and come back in time to hit the back of the strike zone. It’s is a curve ball you might be able to fall back on if you have a tired pitcher who you’re trying to get through the end of an inning. 8. Spiral Ball: costs 2 U.P. The ball moves in a spiral at about 20 mph taking forever to get to the plate. It’s another pitch that the computer just swings at when it’s barly even left the pitcher’s hand. 9. Phantom Ball: costs 3 U.P. This ball disappears halfway down and appears at the batters box. It’s not too hard to hit.... if it continued to go straight... 10. Lotta Ball: costs 5 U.P. Similar to the shadow ball in hitting, this time the pitcher lets three balls go at once and only one is real. And also like the Shadow Ball, the computer hits it about 98 % of the time. 11. Change Up: costs 7 U.P. The speed varies and using the A button slows the pitch down to the speed of possibly 12 mph. 12. Jumper Ball: costs 5 U.P. The ball jumps back and forth with the A button. It is quite easy to hit. 13. Ninja Ball: costs 3 U.P. Similar to the Lotta Ball this one splits into about 12 different balls all clustered together. It is easy to hit because at the end of the pitch they clump together. 14. Snake Ball: costs 3 U.P. It winds its way to the catcher like the squirrel ball does to the wall. The faster the pitcher throws, the harder it is to hit. 15. Floater Ball: costs 4 U.P. This ball turns into a leaf halfway down and floats to the catcher. It usually strikes them out if you want to wait that long for a ton of these to go by. It is boring when you can just throw a Photon Ball in .00001 seconds. 16. Fadeout: costs 5 U.P. The pitcher disappears and it becomes hard to predict where and when the ball is thrown. 17. Tremor Ball: costs 2 U.P. Just because it was a great ultra hit didn’t mean it would be a great pitch too. Sure the pitch causes an earthquake but unlike the ultra bat, this one is useless. 18. Spark Ball: costs 4 U.P. The ball discharges electricity while it goes to the catcher. THAT’S IT 19. Iron Ball: costs 5 U.P. The ball transforms into a shotput and the instruction manuel says it’s extremely hard to get a hit. HAH!!! I lick my chops when I see that one coming. 20. ??? Ball: costs 1 U.P. This was the ultra pitch that was made at the very end so they could get a 20th pitch in. It is useless but I love to see one pitched to me as it either becomes an Iron Ball or if it turns red it makes A BIG HIT. ULTRA FIELDING 1. Super Slide: costs 5 U.P. A fielder slides by pressing the A button and I mean sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiides. 2. Rocket Jump: costs 5 U.P. A fielder can make a super high jump. I’ve robbed a lot of home runs with this one. The fielder jumps about 100 feet in the air. 3. Super Catch: costs 10 U.P. Here it is. The defense against those awful outfielder killers. It catches Missile, Bomb, Tremor, Meteor, or anything else. Darn they had to make a defense for these great ultra plays. 4. Hyper Throw: costs 5 U.P. This throws the ball very fast to the infield. Good for 7-3, 8-3 and 9-3 putouts (LF, CF, or RF to 1B). Also good for nailing the runner at the plate ========================= IV. 18 TEAMS IN 3 LEAGUES ========================= If there is a challenge in this game, it is to play a season with the Atlantic or Northern Leagues instead of the Ultra League. CREATING A SEASON ==================== To start a season, there are a few options before the season can begin. A. OPTIONS Season Length: 5 15 30 165 I don’t recommend doing a 165 game season because of how old the game is. I have only once been able to actually complete a season this long. But this game sometimes loses its memory when it’s not turned off at the scoreboard screen, and sometimes even moving the cartridge around can erase the season. Innings: 9 5 3 1 Leagues: Atlantic Northern Ultra Original Original Leagues can mix up the teams from the three different divisions so that you can take an ultra team and whaylay on the little guys, (Kind of like the Yankees in MLB) or take one of the little guys and try to make a season against ultra teams. Teams Options: Mode: Manual, Computer, or Manager Stadium: Dome Harbor Town Grass CB Brown Ultra Points: Unlimited, 300, 250, 200, 150, 100, 50, 0 Errors: Yes, No Every once in a while the computer will trip one of your players up and give them an error so it can cheat and get a guy on base. You can make an error anytime even if they’re off because you can throw it by a base and it will count as an error. Ultra Play: On, Off This does not turn ultra plays off, it just turns the icons off so no one can tell what pitch is coming and when. Computer: Standard Advance Expert Auto Season can be enabled for any set of three games or for the whole season, in which it will automatically play the season in SKIPPED MODE. It will not play the games unless you make it by sitting through the auto season. B. STATISTICS Overall shows the season record of all 6 teams. Team W-L shows how well each team has fared against each team. Team Stats shows individual or combined stats of each team. Top 30 Hitters is the top 30 hitters in several different stats: Average, At Bats, Hits, Doubles, Triples, Home Runs, Runs Batted In, Walks (with Hit Batsmen), Strikeouts, Sacrifices, Errors, and Stolen Bases. Top 30 Pitchers is the top 30 pitchers in several different stats: Earned Run Average, Wins, Losses, Saves, Complete Game, Shutouts, Hits Allowed, Home Runs Allowed, Runs Allowed, Walks Allowed, and Strikeouts ==================== VI. EDITING A TEAM ==================== Options for editing: Name the Team Choose Team Colors with a uniform and a T shirt. Standard, Special, and Moderate differ in numbers depending on which league you are editing into. Standard gets you the fewest points in any league and moderate gets the most. Standard AL and NL: 1.200 AVG, 150 HR, 140 R, 40 F 18.00 ERA, 131 SPD, 40 L & R, 20 Fork, 160 Stanima Standard UL: 2.000 AVG, 250 HR, 160 R, 50 F 12.00 ERA, 150 SPD, 45 L & R, 30 Fork, 180 Stanima Moderate AL and NL: 1.800 AVG, 200 HR, 180 R, 50 F 12.00 ERA, 150 SPD, 45 L & R, 30 Fork, 180 Stanima Moderate UL: 2.400 AVG, 260 HR, 190 R, 60 F 10.00 ERA, 169 SPD, 60 L & R, 35 Fork, 200 Stanima Special allows you to choose two of the six categories: Accuracy, power hit, sprinter, fast ball, curve ball, and stanima. Fielding and ERA never change in special mode. Everything else stays in standard play points. Special AL and NL: 1.264 AVG, 182 HR, 172 R, 40 F 18.00 ERA, 171 SPD, 72 L & R, 52 Fork, 208 Stanima Special UL: 2.064 AVG, 282 HR, 192 R, 50 F 12.00 ERA, 190 SPD, 77 L & R, 62 Fork, 228 Stanima Up to 6 edited teams can be made at one time. ==================== VII. IN CLOSING ==================== Credits: ME- This wasn't a hard game to write a FAQ for and I did it all by myself *pats self on back* lol. I'm a gamer and any FAQs that I have submitted, I have most likely written by myself. If someone helps me, I will give them credit. But as I would not steal anyone's work, don't steal mine.
