Soreyuke Ebisumaru: Karakuri Meiro - Karakuri Meiro - Kieta Goemon no Nazo Ebisumaru Puzzle: Goemon is missing FAQ Presented by Meowman Table of contents 1)Notes 2)Story 3)Enemies 4)Controls 5)Tips 6)Walkthrough 7)Thanks 8)Final words ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1)Notes 1)Well theres legal stuff and whatnot, just don't steal any of this, because if you do it lets me give you a completely legal spanking! It's also called Plagiarism which is so totally illegal. 2)I dont want this appearing on any sites other than gamefaqs.com or my site http://mmeowman.tripod.com/Meowmans_stuff unless you get permission from me, thats as bad as stealing it (The mystical club of Goemon in MSN communities and the one in Yahoo are OK too). 3)I'm always a bit perky so excuse my cheerfulness and enthusiasm. 4)All this is Copyright of me. If you want to put it on your site email me at Meowman1@hotmail.com this is also for queries, if I accept then I'll add your address above! Now that thats out of the way lets move on! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2)Story Well , this is a puzzle game so that means it has no story right? Well no! This has a story , even if it isn't a very good one. It seems that Ebisumaru comes home after being outside or something and finds that Goemon isnt there. Naturally he thinks for about 2 seconds and sits down to play his Snes for ages until about 5 days later he wakes up with empty bowls scattered around him. Finally he sets out in search of Goemon. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3)Enemies Ok This isn't very essential but I'm going to list the names of all the enemies because I call them what they look like. Probably not in the order you meet them but I'll list them in the order I think of them. Wheelie - Those guys on Unicycles that do that thing with plates. Spring Bouncer (or Bucket Bouncer) - The guys with buckets on their heads that bounce. Rabbit guys - The rabbit guys that uh, stand there. Poop - Ok its not an enemy but its fatal! The dog leaves it during boss levels. Ninjas - The blue guys that have something on their face. Electric ground - These are dangerous patches of ground, but they fortunately don't move. Right, now enemies can be killed by a few ways , they can A)Walk off the edge. B)Be rolled into (In some levels there are spring launchers) C)Be danced into (In some levels there are spinning tops to become..BALLERINA EBISUMARU! Quite Hilarious watching him prance around like that) Bosses however have a different strategy required , but its the same for the few bosses there are. For those people who like lists I'll make one just for you. :D A)Get the boss to walk into the dogs poop. Oh yeah and whatever I call the bosses isn't official, as if you couldn't tell... Now its on to... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4)Controls (Default) Y = Rotates a panel counter-clockwise. X = Makes Ebisumaru run. B = Rotates a panel clockwise. A = Goes to the Next panel. (not useful) R = No apparent use. L = No apparent use. Up = Moves the cursor left. Down = Moves the cursor right. Left = Moves the cursor down. Right = moves the cursor Up. Start = Pause Select = No apparent use ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5)Tips If you get confused , always , ALWAYS PAUSE and check out your surroundings many a time i have fallen off when i didnt check out a possible route from A to B. If you get really stuck and arent too sure about where to go , trap Ebisumaru by pointing two arrows together eg. E = Ebisumaru and < or > = arrow. ---->---E<---- This will cause Ebisumaru to walk back and forth on the path , even if he goes around a corner or two you can get him going around in circles if the stage is set up in a particular pattern like a square or a figure of eight. Some levels require you to have Ebisumaru stay away from the action or else not even go near it! These levels require patience as you have to use an enemy like those spring bouncers with buckets on their heads to bounce around the level for you and step on switches to let you go on a particular part of the level to get the pass or the exit. In some cases you have to because you can't touch a switch without ending up walking into an enemy and fainting. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6)Walkthrough Here it is! The main thing I bet this is downloaded for! THE WALKTHROUGH!!! Now you might think that puzzle games can't really be walked through. This one isnt really any different so I am planning on giving more sort of level specific tips rather than "move the cursor left twice and rotate clockwise" Instead I will outline the main difficulties you may encounter and a basic description of how to avoid/beat them. Overworld ---------- You start beside a tree and you dont really do much other than head to the green swirly portal which isnt far away. You can check out the houses to see rendered people and close ups of Ebisumaru , if you understand Japanese then you will get a bit more out of houses other than rendered people. World 1 -------- Level 1 -------- Ok talk about a simple way to ease you into a game! I don't think you need help to figure out what to do here! Just line up the arrows to get him to the goal. If you want you can have him walk back and forth at the start and line up the rest. Level 2 -------- Another simple one , line up the arrows but make sure you get the arrows pointing the right way and he doesnt accidentally walk off the edge , he says a warning when hes about to fall off sort of like Woo-Chuk-Chuk-Chuk! Level 3 -------- Ok now slightly tougher this is. Just pause and check out the best ways throughout the level and eventually you'll get there. This isn't as bad as the later ones where there are switches and enemies! Level 4 -------- Ok this really isn't much harder , theres not much chance to fall off and the time limit isn't much of a threat. Just pause if you can't get it done quickly and are thinking you cant do it , you can do it! Seeing that you can pause for a long time you just sit and think what path you need to take , even trace your finger from the finish to your position! Level 5 -------- Again This is somewhat easy. Just grab the fans and you will jump up the stairs and then just make him go around in squares until you get to the end of the level. Of course when you start remember to pick up the entry pass. Level 6 -------- This one was slightly confusing for me. Just follow the arrows until you get to near the Exit sign then head back towards the start then up then back down when he gets over to the Exit sign again. Other than that its not too challenging. Level 7 -------- Ah the first enemy appears! Hes easy to avoid though , just head back and forth until you get to a cannon in the upper right. Wait till when the enemy is on the Entry pass and shoot on to it then , Ebisumaru will pick himself up and RUN! Sometimes the enemy (from now on i will call it a Wheelie) will get around to you and kill you. You should now get a password and i would advise writing it down seeing as the game has no battery backed-up memory , once you've wrote it down press a button and you will be teleported back to the overworld free to move on! Overworld ---------- Ok now just head to the next portal and thats it , of course theres some other things that you might want to check out like the White house with the Red curtain/door. These are what i call Mini-game houses , in this case a Slot machine. There is also a house with a white curtain these are shops where you can buy armor or extra lives. After you do that go to the green swirly! World 2 -------- Level 1 -------- An easy level again. But the next isn't so easy! Just line up everything and get in the cannons , timing is essential! You MUST time right or you will shoot yourself into an empty space and down to oblivion! Just be careful. Level 2 -------- Ok talk about easy! Just time it right so you miss the enemies and the giant wheel and you're home free! One piece of help at the last arrow just leave it pointing down until the Bouncer (those...things that are in most Goemon games) dies then change it to get the pass and then the exit. This level is useful if you use Ebisumarus running ability to get past the first Bouncers without getting caught. Level 3 -------- Whoa this is SO easy! That is if you ignore the pass (i dont know what use they have) Just climb into the cannon and time so that when Ebi walks onto the arrow , the Bouncer is well away from him and aim towards the spinning top to get da-da-da-DA! Ebisumaru the Ballerina Dancer! He looks quite funny in a Ballet Tutu! Then just spin thru and you'll kill everything that touches you! Level 4 -------- Ok first thing first , line up all the arrows so the point DOWN. You'll see why in a minute that I'm getting you to do this before you go into the cannon (don't worry about not getting one or two done as long as they are done before you hit the ? block) Now when you get the cannon to shoot you , and you step the switch , RUN!!! A giant wheel will come down to crush you! As soon as you get past the first set of Arrows move one up and the wheel will get stuck and keep looping. Level 5 -------- Ok this one is Fun! Just aim the first arrow to the Springboard and then turn both left and i think holding run into the spring helps. Ebi wil back into it and become invincible rolling Ebi! The only thing your not invincible to is being squished , make sure you go fast as when you hit the ? block a Bouncer appears so roll him down! Then you'll probably fall over and start walking again but its easy goin to avoid the Wheel from here! Level 6 -------- Ok as soon as you start make Ebi wander back and forth. Now line the rest up to the finish check them and then set Ebi loose around the place , DO NOT LET GO OF RUN! Just run around the path you made (walking when you think you may get crushed by the wheel) and then run some more! all the enemies will miss you by a hair if you do this! Level 7 -------- This is one that you need to watch out for wheelies. Get into the cannon and land so you end up falling into the other cannons path. From there on just wait till the Wheelie there is heading away from you and fire to the goal (hold run just in case or walk if you're close behind it) And heres you're second password! Take it down and continue! Overworld ---------- Ok see the pure brown house? Enter that and pay the square jawed guard 500 to take a boat to a treasure hunting level! This doesnt really need explaining , get as much treasure in the time limit and leave to register it!(if you don't you dont earn the money i think). All the brown houses have these and i don'tthink there is a point to them other than to earn money. Now head into the...Yellow portal? Treasure game -------------- All yellow portals are games like this. So its easy to distinguish Treasure mini games with the main game parts by their colours. You'll get another password. Take it down. Overworld ---------- That house with the blue curtain is a Password house , it shows you most recent password gained. Then just head to the Green swirling vortex as usual. Mainly this is what goes on , Vortex to another Vortex. World 3 -------- Level 1 -------- Ah , switches! Now simply head to the green switch first then make your way to the blue switch. Collect the pass if you want before you go over brown blocks either way you'll go to the goal and if you could you couldn't head back because they fall. (I will ocassionally mention these). Level 2 -------- This one is a slight pain but trap him so he continues passing the green switch and line up the others , lead him back to the start (you won't have used all the brown blocks) and follow the path to the end which was recently created by passing the switches. Level 3 -------- Ah now this is pretty funny level! just line all the arrows up so you go side to side and get the spinning top for...BALLERINA EBISUMARU! Its so funny really , then go back downwards and head up and you will easily pass the green bunny and to the end! Level 4 -------- Another level with falling blocks just hit all the switches , leaving a path to get back and either head to the pass or the end , whichever you want. Level 5 -------- A confusing/annoying level sometimes , see the bunnies? nothing to help kill them , BUT let the springy out (its with you at the start) and let it do the level for you (remember to keep Ebisumaru trapped going round in circles or he'll follow the path too and into some enemies) don't let the springy out after it hits the last switch. Then get the pass or goto the end. Level 6 -------- Very annoying level goto the switches in this order , Green , Purple , Red , get fans head up the stairs and down to the blue and finally to the end. Level 7 -------- Theres only one annoyance here , the Wheelie , so whilst avoiding it grab the weight. Now head to the see-saw and go flying up high and then head around to the fans and up the stairs. You now get another password , take it down. Overworld ---------- Just head to the big robot and prepare for an interesting boss fight. Big evil purple robot boss dude! -------------------------------- Now this is easy , if you think about it a bit , pause every so often to check out your surroundings , now the basic idea is to do with the dog , every so often he poops! Now what you are having to do is have the dog poop and the robot to run into it , BUT if he sees you he will go red and move faster , also if when he is red he runs into poop then it will dissapear , so make sure the bot is still purple when he runs into it , five hits and he dies. Overworld ---------- Walk around and you'll find the next green swirl. Its after the board that crosses over water. World 4 -------- Level 1 -------- Ok this level is the first place where you find "The barrel" Yesiree its a barrel for Ebi's clothes. Yes...He strips, strangely killing all those ninja guys. O_O Once you've done that you can exit easily. Level 2 -------- Ok simple enough , just avoid the Ninja guys and use the springs to help you knock 'em over like bowling pins :D Simple huh? Just watch you don't stop cause it leaves you vunerable for a second or two. Level 3 -------- Ok this is a time pusher! You have to push the top right switch , then the top left , bottom left and then finally the bottom right switch WHILST avoiding those ninjas. I just about did it with five seconds to spare! Level 4 -------- Ok this is simple enough , depending on what path the ninjas take, just sort of guide Ebi and also deter those Ninjas whilst pushing switches and it should be no problem! Level 5 -------- Is it just me or is it getting simpler here? Or is it just leading up to a difficult bit, luring you into a sense of false security? Just head to the exit or get the pass, your choice! Level 6 -------- Yep, this one is a little bit of a difficulty step up. Just line all the things up as fast as possible, because everytime you step on a switch a ninja falls from the sky! Just avoid them by moving quickly or by using the arrows to manipulate their movement. Level 7 -------- Ah the grand finale...for this world! And its not an easy one No sirree! No arrows, making it one of those levels where you have to avoid enemies. Tough but it's doable so what are you waiting for? Finish off this world already! Oh yeah, and don't forget your password :) Overworld ---------- Just go into the Yellow swirl, really, its not that hard. Treasure game -------------- Another treasure game , try to get yourself money and for some reason another password so soon after your last. Overworld ---------- Just keep heading down and to the right, eventually you'll find the next swirl. World 5 -------- Level 1 -------- Ah now heres a pesky one! The dark patches are electrical, really do I need to say this? Well don't walk across while they have electricity coming out of them. A little farther on is some carpets, get your timing right or you'll fall, or it will lift up and *magically* go through you, also causing you to drop, all in all I have to emphasize that you run or you will have severe trouble completing this level! Level 2 -------- This isn't too hard, at least if you are good at finding a path to go on with the falling blocks. As always be careful around the electric patch. Level 3 -------- Ok! Watch out for the electricity AND those switches! Everytime (its not a one off thing) you step on a switch a bucket drops on you, that would be when you run, time it so you can make it past the electric too. Level 4 -------- I have a few words to say about this level, and they aren't very nice! It is quite hard to do in the time limit but basically after going across the 1st carpet move the arrow down, then you should get to the green switch and be coming back, dead forwards is the blue and by going up you'll get to the purple switch. Once done go back across the 1st carpet and down to finish! *phew!* Level 5 -------- Ok this isn't all that hard, avoid the Spring bouncers and grab the fans go up to the top level, repeat except going to the middle and finally repeat going to the bottom, about half way around there is the exit. Level 6 -------- I think that in this level the electric patches have different timings, some go longer than others so watch out! Anyway avoid electric, grab the fans, go up the stairs, avoid more electric and voila! We're done! Level 7 -------- Simple enough, avoid the electricity and escape the wheelie. Just run for a while and when near electricity walk until it eventually stops and dash past until you're near to the next, just watch for the path crossovers where the Wheelie might hit you. Overworld ---------- Just walk a little farther and prepare to face a boss resembling one from Goemon 4... Evil giant robotic bunny Samurai dude! --------------------------------------- Similar pattern to the last boss, avoid him and have him move (for the lack of a word to describe the movement) into it. But this guy has the annoying habbit of sending out little Egg head dudes that prance about. 5 hits and hes a goner. Overworld ---------- Just keep heading down and left and you will find the next level. World 6 -------- Level 1 -------- Ah, now it gets fun! Teleporters! (From now on I will not tell you about what enemies there is to avoid, should be used to avoiding them by now!). Whatever direction you are walking into the teleporter from is the direction that you will keep walking when you come out, to finish the level come in from the top and use the cannons, not too hard but time yourself right or else you'll miss the next part. Level 2 -------- Not too much of a hard one, head into the blue one first and then he'll come around in the loop and go into the green one, really one of the easier levels. Level 3 -------- Oh yes! Its a hard one alright! I really can't find a good enough way to explain it! Find yourself a way to get into the topmost green one from the right and basically that's it, just keep going through them and you should eventually be coming out of the topmost yellow one, heading up to the goal! Level 4 -------- I have trouble trying to explain this too! Try to work out a way to come out of the central yellow portal, going left. Or try and come left out of the blue one. It isn't too hard to do within the allocated time! Honestly! Level 5 -------- Here we can see the perfect example of something very hard to explain! Get yourself left, you firstly have to go into the bottom blue portal and be going right into it, at the top blue one organize so so go into the green from the right, when you come out go around the edge and go into the yellow, from the left and you'll come to the end! Level 6 -------- Get yourself into the yellow one, to appear at the top and work yourself around to the blue, when you loop head left into the topmost yellow teleporter. When you come back out of it you will fall down, go down into the green one and just keep going straight! Level 7 -------- Get yourself to go into the bottommost teleporter so you are walking right. It is really hard to explain but after doing that and you are nearing the bottom one again, move the arrow up, so you move towards the goal! Overworld ---------- Just keep walking, into the yellow swirl. Treasure game -------------- As with all of these, just try and get as much money as possible. Overworld ---------- Now move into the next green swirl, and also the final! World 7 -------- Level 1 -------- Right then! This is easy enough, just run around to avoid the Enemy and then grab the fans, once you've got them go slow until the enemy is going around the way you went, move the arrow to point at the cannon and watch your timing. Hit the switch and you're home free! Level 2 -------- Just use all that you know to get up to the switch, run and hide in the top corner QUICKLY! Before the Wheel moves around to squash you, move it to squash the bunny and then send it right, quickly have Ebi run around to the goal! Level 3 -------- I'll tell you right out what to do, block Ebi where he is. Then the top right most arrow point it up and have the Bouncer walk into it, be ready for when it steps on the switch, flip the arrow and RUN! Or else you'll be having a bit of a close encounter with something you don't want it with. :D Level 4 -------- Ok! straight into the Blue, then come out, go up into the green, back into the blue, around to get the Weight, into the Yellow, work your way back to the start and repeat, instead of going to get the wait, go straight into the yellow and Voila! Another level complete! Level 5 -------- Ok, just block yourself separate from the first bouncer and line up the rest, just run continually until you get near a carpet that is about to lift and wait until it comes back, and continue! Not too hard! Level 6 -------- I cannot give much advice for these last levels, just block Ebisumaru in and keep the Ninja away. Use the bouncer and you can get it to press the button quite easily, just keep checking to stop the ninja from getting near you or altering where Ebi walks! If you really want, you can keep sending him off the edge of the level. Level 7 -------- Ah! The Grande Finale! Oh and it is hard! Just block the Wheelie, and QUICKLY move the arrow to the weight for Ebi and then before the wheelie comes move it back to block it, repeat to get to the See-Saw. Use the one thats stuck and get him to press the switch. Once the switch has been pressed RUN! When you make it pat yourself on the back, you've beat all the main puzzle levels! Overworld ---------- Proceed into the castle and you may see some interesting things! Castle ------- This is now what depends on how well you did! If you collected all 50 passes and have a score of about 280000 then look far below for how to beat the boss! If you don't meet any of those requirements then you get to watch the normal ending, where Goemon has already escaped and beaten the boss for you! Below the requirements ----------------------- You get to watch the normal ending and walk around the town, I don't see any point in doing this, unless there is some guy who resets the games, so you can get the passes you didnt get. Above the requirements ----------------------- You get to fight the boss! It has several stages, all of which are quite easy! The thing just moves faster each time! Trust me, you don't need any help with this boss! Overworld ---------- I bet you're wondering about this! You get to play...more levels! Head into the racoon and you get taken to another group of levels! World 8 -------- Level 1 -------- Rather simple actually! Just skip over to the barrel to kill the annoying bouncers and then into the exit! Level 2 -------- Again quite simple, send Ebi walking back and forth at the start with the one arrow there, and line the rest up, when you're ready flip the arrow to let him out and run! Level 3 -------- Konami must be giving us a break or something!go in a zig zag to the green switch then over the new bridge grab the spinning top and follow the same path except going down! Level 4 -------- But they suddenly land you with a hard level! Not one enemy in sight but HARD! Ok follow my instruction! But anyway, I'll refer to the arrows in the order you come to them from the start! Move the first arrow upwards then move the second left. Teleport around for a bit then move the next one upwards, once Ebi has moved past it move it to the right. Next after more teleportation, you will come to the 2nd arrow again, move it up. Leave all arrows as they were until you come out of the red one! Move the next arrow Up and the arrow after that left, then run! You will most likely be low on time! Level 5 -------- Another annoying one, but not as bad as the last! Work out a path to the farthest blue one, and make sure you will be walking down into it, you should end up going in the cannon, shoot to the farthest point you can and you should be walking to your right into the green one, come out of it, move the arrow up and just run if you are running low on time! Level 6 -------- Another painful level, I'm starting to get a headache from this game! I'll try my best to explain! Firstly grab the weight, now the first arrow after that, move down, next one down, next one right and then try to go down into the teleporter you came out of, you should come out at the top, loop around and go into the top of that one! You should finish it after doing so! Level 7 -------- You shouldn't have too big a problem here! I actually didnt! I ran around for awhile but eventually made it! The same should work for you because I can't remember what I did. You should then get the last password you'll get, although I hear theres someone who resets all the levels for you to play again, although I don't know what house he's in. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7)Thanks Firstly I'd like to thank everybody at Konami, for making this game! Secondly I'd like to thank The mystical ninja club, for inspiring me to write this! Find any Konami site (European, American, Japanese) all at www.konami.com Find the aforementioned club at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/themysticalninjaclub/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8)Final words Well what can I say? I hope you don't go through as much annoyance playing this as many before probably have! At least I dared to go near this game and write this about it! Its one of the few Goemon games I know that doesn't have an English FAQ for it, its also the only Goemon game I can think that doesn't star Goemon. I hope I got the name of the game right too, it may be a little off but it's basically something along those lines, I may have also gotten the Japanese name wrong but hey Gamefaqs has the right name anyway, or else you wouldn't be seeing this! Well I'll see you all around! This is Meowman signing off!
