General Comments This file is best viewed using a fixed-width font. If you're looking for the answer to a specific question, but don't want to risk spoiling the rest of the game, check the "Frequently Asked Questions" section first to see if it's there. Spells and skills are listed with the character who learns them. If a price is listed in the "Get" column of the item lists, the item can be bought in an ordinary store. Check the Store Stock section for where to buy it. There are octopus and squid monsters in the Seamaster dungeon called Takosky and Ikanovich. They tell puns and then run away. I'm guessing this is a reference to a real comedy act, but I can't think of who. Does anyone know? ----I. General Game Advice The icons for the first battle menu, from left to right, are "Fight", "Run" and "Plan". Fight and Run mean what you think they do. Plan means to run a preset sequence of actions. The icons for the character's battle menu are "Attack", "Magic", "Item", "Skill" and "Defend". If an option is unavailable (if the character doesn't know any spells, for example), the icon is grayed out. Later in the game, a sixth option, "Shell", is added between Skill and Defend. Use this to call the Shell Dragons. You can save the game on the world map, or at the rainbow columns in dungeons. It is possible to change weapons and shields during a battle. Select the Item command to pick new equipment. Look for differently-colored pots or mushrooms. These can heal your party. Unlike DM1, HP and MP are not restored when a character levels up. We now return to our previous-scheduled MP stinginess. Time does pass in this game, but for the most, it doesn't affect the main storyline. See section VII for detailed information on this. If you're stuck, try using the "Helpers". They have special skills that can get through obstacles. If none of them help, try coming back later in the game when others have joined. DM2 has more hidden items than I've ever seen in a game. Check EVERYTHING. The plants, the furniture, the trees, strange patches on the ground, everything. Look for bright spots near walls. These usually indicate doorways. Characters casting healing spells or using healing items always go first in battle. The only exception to this is Rumiella's Last Rainbow spell. ----II. Story A heartwarming tale of a boy and his dog... and an evil sorceror and some Shell-beasts and a floating continent and a circus clown with an incomprehensible dialect. After being saved from the evil Gab Farr by the four Shell Heroes, Shelldorado was peaceful once again. However, the effects of Gab Farr were more far-reaching than expected. 6 of Gab Farr's eggs survived, and were lost in the mists. Elsewhere, Dark, an evil sorceror, is awakened from a 500-year sleep. He obtains Gab Farr's eggs, and uses them to create 6 monster generals. His goal is to find all the "Aura Stones", a legacy of an ancient civilization. But what he intends to do with them... ----III. Characters ---1. Party Members: --A. The Hero (You name him) Gender: Male Race: Human The typical heroic, pure-hearted, caring (and unfortunately mute) video game hero. He is the Fire Shell Hero, summoned from Earth (with his dog, who you also get to name) by the Shell-beast Elder. He uses swords for weapons and learns fire and healing spells. Baboo Gender: Male Race: Shell-beast If you've played DM1, you'll recognize Baboo. Baboo is one of the Shell Heroes from the Shell-beast village. He's the most calm and responsible of the Heroes, so he acts as the leader of the group. He uses Boomerangs as weapons, which can attack all enemies at once. Give him a Warrior Medal and watch the carnage! Baltes Gender: Male Race: Beastman Baltes is the Captain of the Guard at Grangram Castle. He is apparently a mutant, looking like a cross between a human and a lion, but his past is a complete mystery. Several years ago, Princess Rumiella found him injured in the woods near the castle and nursed him back to health. Baltes has no memory of anything before Rumiella found him. He is an exceptionally skilled warrior, and places great value on honor. He is also deeply in love with Princess Rumiella, but has not told her. He uses swords for weapons. If another party member is low on HP, he will sometimes protect them from attacks. Gabro Gender: Male Race: Monster No, he's not an escapee from a Sentai show. Gabro used to be one of Dark's generals, but he turned against him after someone he loved was killed. Now he only cares about revenge. He fights with his bare hands, but can attack using several elements. He can equip a weapon in each hand. His magic defense and speed are relatively high. Kupikupi Gender: Male Race: Shell-beast Kupikupi is another of the Shell Heroes from DM1. He's something of a crybaby and hypchondriac. His specialty is magic, and he learns a nice variety of spells. He is not a very good fighter, though. He gains levels pretty quickly. Once he learns Sunshower, equip him with a Wonder Ring (and possibly a Magician's Mustache), and you can get some serious healing, essentially for free. Pot Gender: Male Race: Shell-beast (formerly) Pot is another character from DM1. He is the brother of the Shell- beast Elder. He was a powerful sorceror, but his lack of responsibility got him sealed in a pot by an even more powerful sorceress. He was freed at the end of DM1 as a reward for helping to defeat Gab Farr, but he quickly went back to his old ways, and got himself potted again. He uses summoning-type spells. His greatest ambition is to find the ultimate Summoned Beast, Fattobajah (Yes, THAT Fattobajah). Pot generally doesn't learn spells by levelling-up. New Summoned Beasts can be gained from the Dimensional Pots located around the world. Dimensional Pots look like stereotypical genie-bottle-type jars. Some will make you fight them before they let Pot summon them. These are marked with a "*". Some spells are learned by combining two existing Beasts. These spells are learned when Pot gains a level. Pot's spells affect all enemies. He's a bit more robust than his DM1 counterpart this time, but he still gains levels relatively slowly. Poyon Gender: Male Race: Shell-beast Poyon is the third Shell Hero. He seems to always be hungry, and follow you anywhere is he thinks there's food to be had. He has the ability to learn the techniques of enemy monsters. He uses axes for weapons. He has a lot of HP, but his magic defense is very low, especially against water. The Robot Gender: Male(?) Race: Robot! I can't say too much about the Robot without spoiling a very nifty plot point. The robot is a prototype battle machine built by Dr. Spanner, but he may have borrowed some parts from elsewhere... The robot can't use magic, but his weapons can attack with several different elements. His skills require ammunition, which you can usually buy in a item store. The robot learns skills by being upgraded by Dr. Spanner. I can't tell whether the upgrades depend on experience levels or story events. When the upgrades are available, a message will arrive from Dr. Spanner when you enter or leave the Telepo-ship with the Robot in the party. Rumiella Gender: Female Race: Human Rumiella is the princess of Grangram Castle. However, she's not just a pampered royal. She will go out of her way to help anyone in need, much to the consternation of her father and the castle guards. She is an excellent spell-caster. She has a lot of MP and learns a nice selection of spells, but her HP is rather low. She can use staffs and knives. She can do some serious damage with the Magican's Knife and Angel Ring. Shamuru Gender: Female Race: Cat Tribe Shamuru is the daughter of the Cat Tribe elder. She left the tribe's village to search for her younger brother, who was captured by Jodan. She's outspoken and strong-willed, and likes adventure. She uses short swords and knives as weapons, and can hold a weapon in each hand. She can also transform into a cat. While in cat mode, her ATK and DEF are increased, but she can't use any magic or skills. Helpers Helpers are called using the "Suketto" menu command. They can only be used while the hero is in the party. --A. Andre Andre is a woodcutter. His axe can chop through obstacles that block your path. --B. Cole Cole used to be a cook for the Jodan gang. The smell of his cooking draws monsters. --C. Dragobird At first, the Dragobird can only be used to scout ahead on the map. After it grows, you can use it to fly all over the map. --D. Jalamar Jalamar is a spiritualist. She can keep monsters away for a short time. Once you summon her, you can't summon her again until after you stay at an inn or use a Shell House. --E. Mambo Mambo is a Shell-beast that left the Shell-beast village. He can dive under the water to find sunken treasure. You can find him in Mukabi. --F. Pochi Pochi is a robot dog. Use him to scout ahead in a dungeon. --G. Ukkie Ukkie is the leader of a gang of monkeys. The monkeys can form a bridge between two points. You can use them where you see mushrooms with tooth-marks on them. The more monkeys join you, the longer a bridge you can make. Monkey locations: #1-3: Automatic #4: Monkey cave #5: Vahn Mountain #6: Circus tent (after beating Jodan for the last time) #7: Cave near Fice --H. Uro and family You may remember Uro from DM1. In DM1, he was a wandering sheepherder. Now he's joined by his wife, Uru, and his son, Ura. Uro's tent acts like a mobile town, with an inn and shops. ----VI. "My Town" explanation

The future site of your town is a vacant lot in the mountains
north of Galahar. The man cleared the land while looking for
jewels, but didn't find any. He doesn't want the land to go to
waste, so he'll give it to you. You can name it whatever you want.
There are 6 vacant lots in your town. You can build and destroy
buildings as many times as you want to pay for, but you can only
have 6 buildings at once, and you can't have more than 1 of any
building.
Building things in your town takes Jewels. There are many ways to
get jewels:
-Win them in battle
-Find them on the map
-Use Kupikupi's Jewelna spell to turn enemies into jewels
-Have Mambo dive for them
-Build a bar and buy them from the jewel seller

Buildings:
House

Type C: 1 Megatopaz
This acts as a free inn. It even comes with maid service!
Type A is a cloth shack. The maid is a magician names Borame.
Type B is a log cabin. The maid is a young girl names Marilyn.
Type C is a stone house. The maid is a bird-like creature names
Gyo-chan.

Here you can fight one-on-one with monsters to win money and exp.

Your own Stamp Rally kiosk. Not too useful, if you ask me.

Cost: 10 Rough Diamonds
Here, you can buy seeds to plant in the garden at the north end of
town, or change the town decor and theme music. Changing the decor
costs 1300P. Seeds cost 200P.
The decor:
Japanese Garden: Bonsai trees and rock gardens, with koto music
Tropical: Palm trees and flowers, with xylophone music.
Horror: Dead trees and gravestones, with "spooky" music.
Modern: Flowers and bushes, with pop-style music
Seeds: Sun Seeds, Sky Seeds, Darkness Seeds
Plant the seeds in the plot next to the sign in the north end of
town. Leave town and come back. Water the seed. Repeat until the
seed sprouts. When the plant grows a fruit, pick it and you might
get something good.

Sculpture Garden
Cost: 1 Icemarine
A park with a copy of the armless Venus sculpture. Talk to the man
there and he'll set off a bomb and a treasure chest will appear.
Maybe you'll get something good, maybe not. Once the man explodes
the park, the lot is vacant again.

Hint Shop
Cost: 10 Mega Topaz
For 1000P each, the man inside will give you hints regarding the
location of the treasures King Grangram is looking for, or general
battle advice.

Zoo
Cost: 3 Crimson Rubies
A small zoo with cats, dogs and pigs. Use the Oink-oink stick on
one of the pigs, and it will turn into a man. The man will give
you a Magician's Mustache and decide to stay and look after the
animals for you.

----VII. The PLG System and the Time Ruins

---1. PLG System
When you first start the game, it will ask you to set the date and
time. This time is independant of the saved games. Once you set
the time, the only way to reset it is to delete all the saved
games and reset. The clock continues whether the console is turned
on or not (according to the instruction book. I've found that the
clock only runs when the power is on, but maybe my cart is
screwy). This time has nothing to do with the main story. There
are side events that only take place at certain times of day, but
the main story can be done at any time.

---2. Time Temples
You can enter the Time Temples through wells in some towns. The
Timekeeper lives there. The first time you talk to the Timekeeper,
he'll ask for your birthday. If you go to the Time Temple on your
birthday, your friends will bring out a cake and sing a song. They
show the lyrics on the screen, so sing along if you like. The
Timekeeper will give you 10 Fairy Medicines (nice!).

There are two things you can do in the Time Temples: leave a
message, or set a message for the Timekeeper to send you.
Leaving a message will cause your message to appear on the screen
at the date and time you set. This is independant of which save
file is being used. One player can leave a message for the other
(like "Get your paws of my SFC!").

The Timekeeper's messages can be sent at a set hour (only at the
beginning of the hour). There are five different messages:
Victory: Restores HP
Magic: Restores MP
Love: Restores HP and MP
Miracle: Raises dead characters
Gold: Get a random amount of Pearls

---3. Time Ruins
While traveling around Shelldorado, you may find what looks like a
sundial. These are the Time Ruins. These ruins can only be entered
at a certain hour. Talk to the ghosts in the Time Temple to find
out when and how to enter. The hour listed in the table means an
entire hour. For example, if it lists 3:00, that means you can
enter between 3:00 and 3:59 (AM or PM).

Location: The Desert east of Salaam
Time: 2:00
How to enter: Step on the 2 o'clock and 8 o'clock stones.
Lots of treasure here: Mega Topaz (2), Thunder Stone (2), Crimson
Ruby, Icemarine, Rainbow Diamond

Location: North of Nycalo Mountain
Time: 11:00
How to enter: Step on the 11 o'clock stone.
Find the Gold Badge, Insect Edge and 15000P here.

Location: Lake cave west of Tontace
Time: 9:00
How to enter: Step on the 9 o'clock stone while facing west.
The Mirror Plate is here (you'll need Andre).
Other stuff: Gaia Boomerang, Earth Armor, Aquarian Axe,
Insectector, Lion Helm (you'll need Ukkie+7 to get these)
Pot's Vampire spell can be found here.

Location: Seabed south of Galahar
Time: 4:00
How to enter: Start at the 4-o'clock stone and step on all the
stones in clockwise order, ending at the 4-o'clock stone again.
The wreck of Jodan's ship, the Black Devil, is here. Bring Shamuru
along for a side-story event.
Items to find: Megalo Body, Killer Wing, Hydra Armor, Dragon Edge,
Sorceror Medal, Moon Crystal

Location: Near Jem
Time: 12:00
How to enter: Start at the 12-o'clock stone and step on the stones
in counter-clockwise order until you reach the 3-o'clock stone.
Then step on the stones in clockwise order until you reach 9
o'clock. Face south when stepping on the 9 o'clock stone.
There is a Dimensional Pot, and the stone tablet. The tablet says
that an evil magician (Dark?) created two identical monsters and
unleashed them on Kutomina. One of the was lost in the mists (and
ended up caused havoc of his own in DM1). The other was captured
and sealed in the pot by Kutomina's royal magicians. Because of
the damage the monsters did, the ancient Kutominians left the
surface world and started over on the floating continent.
The pot contains Fattobajah. Fire will heal him, but he's weak
against earth and light.
Items to find: Demon King's Mustache

----VIII. Side-story events

Unlike DM1, all the characters participate in the main story, so
there's not as much reliance on side-story events to develop the
characters.

Hero:
After nightfall, you can get to a seabed cave south of Lampa. A
swan has been trapped inside. It's wounded, but once you tend to
its wounds, it's able to fly again. It flies to Donut Island.
Follow it there. The swan is the pet of a hermit living there. As
thanks, he teaches you the Rushing Sword skill.

Baltes:
Bring Baltes (and preferably Rumiella, too) to Kutomina. Baltes
will seem to know his way around the castle. He says it's just
intuition.

Once you're able to get to Doan's lab, check the bookcase on the
left side of the room. It describes an experiment to create an
ultimate soldier by combining a human with an animal. Baltes
thinks the subject might have been him, but the book says the test
subject was Prince Cruz. He doesn't recognize the name. If
Rumiella is there, she'll remember what Doan said in Mushking's
lair about making her into a creature like Baltes.

Go to the Prince's room in Kutomina's left-hand tower. It's
covered in dust, and looks like no one's been in it for 5 years.
Something about the room seems familiar to Baltes, and it triggers
a buried memory.
Doan has Prince Cruz tied to a table in his lab, intending to use
him as an experiment. Later, the prince wakes up and staggers over
to a mirror. What he sees horrifies him. He is no longer human,
but something part man and part beast. He smashes the mirror in
anger.
Baltes has regained his memory. He is really Prince Cruz of
Kutomina! But even though his body is a beast now, Rumiella
insists that his heart is still human. Before you leave, Baltes
gets the Beast King Sword from under his bed.

Kupikupi:
After nightfall, bring Kupikupi to the lighthouse hear Lampa and
talk to Chiko. She gives him a magic book she found in a
storeroom. He'll learn the Magic Repeater skill from it.

Poyon:
Talk to the green bird-like creature on Jodan's Island. The bird
likes Poyon, since he's green and round, just like him. He draws
out Poyon's hidden power and makes his Poyoyon! skill stronger.

Robot:
Go to the weapon store in Kururu after nightfall. The owner there
will give him an Android Arm that he found when the ice melted.

Rumiella:
Once you have the grown Dragobird, you can get to Rumiella's
teacher's house, south of Lampa. He'll teach her the skill
Barrier.
Other items to find at the house: Fairy Medicine

Go see the teacher again after nightfall, and he'll teach Rumiella
his ultimate spell, Magic Repeater.

Shamuru:
Once you have the grown Dragobird, you can go to the Cat Tribe's
village, Nekojarashi. The cave leading there is south of Nycalo.
If Shamuru isn't in the party when you go there, you'll just see a
bunch of cats there. If Shamuru is with you, the cats reveal
themselves as fellow Cat Tribe members. Shamuru's father, the
tribe elder, will ask her if she's found Toran, yet. Toran is her
younger brother, who was kidnapped by Jodan. Unfortunately, she
hasn't. Because you and Shamuru are here, the elder decides to
have a Nekojara festival to celebrate. All the cat tribe comes and
dances around the fire. Shamuru joins the dance and learns the Cat
Dance skill.
Items to find in Nekojarashi: Beast Knife, Catnip (you need Ukkie
and 4 monkeys to get the Catnip)

Bring Shamuru with you when you go to the 4:00 Time Ruins.
Shamuru's brother, Toran, is trapped on the ship. Shamuru wants to
escort him back to the village herself, but Toran decides to go by
himself, since Shamuru is busy trying to save the world.
Go back to Nekojarashi after freeing Toran and Shamuru's father
will give her a Shadowdancer.

----IX. Optional Events and Mini-games

---1. The King's Museum
Grangram's king is an avid treasure hunter. Fortunately for his
people, he uses the wealth he accumulates to build improvements in
the city. However, he does keep a few choice items for himself.
Occasionally, you'll see a poster advertising something he wants.
Bring it to him and he'll reward you. You can see the items you
collected in the museum in Grangram City.

---2. Lost Piglets
Once you get the Oink-Oink Stick, you can turn all the children
Jodan turned into pigs back to normal.

Grangram City: There are three children here. They tell you about
Jodan's base, far in the east, where there are many more children
held captive.
Salaam: One pig here. It's Maris from Lampa. After you rescue her,
her mother will let you stay in her house.
Jodan's Island: One pig here. Take the boy home to the inn in
Seaba. The boy's father will give you a Magician's Knife.

---3. Talk to the Animals
The Robot can talk to dogs and Shamuru can talk to cats. See what
they have to say!

Dogs:
Grangram City:"There should be an underground room in Grangram
Castle"
Tontace: "The place under the sea cliffs to the west is called the
hidden valley. There may be treasure there."
Ruined village: "Everyone's left the village. I think I'll go to
Mukabi, too."
Fice (before nightfall): "The island to the north is where Jodan
keeps his strange animals."
Jodan Island: "I met a Shell-beast named Mambo in Mukabi once. He
said he was good at diving. Have you met him?"

Cats:
Mukabi: "The effect of medals is greater on weaker characters."
Fice (before nightfall): "Did you find the Thunder Saber in the
village? It's strong against ocean monsters. It's useful to have."
Fice (after nightfall):
"I saw a pretty shell fall into the hole to the south."
"There's supposedly a swordsman living in a forest who can teach
you a special skill."
"You should be able to get to many new places because of the
meteorites. Try going to different places."
Jodan island: "You'll need Mambo's help if you want to find
treasure under the sea."

---4. The Story of Love and Passion
The nickelodeon-type machines on the deck of Jodan's ship play a
serial called The Story of Love and Passion.
Part 1: Toriko (a duck) and Kageo (a lizard) meet and fall in
love.
Part 2: Toriko and Kageo finally get together... and Toriko eats
him.
A production of Jodan Films!

---5. Jodan's Island
Once you have the Dragonbird, you can get to Jodan's island, on
the east side of the map. This is where he keeps his collection of
strange animals. There are also experiments being conducted. A
scientist there has a monkey named M-10, and he's trying to make
it stronger. If you come after nightfall, M-10 attacks the
scientist. He's tired of being a test subject. Beat him and the
scientist will give you a Friendship Ring. From now on, the
scientist decides to treat M-10 as a friend rather that a test
subject.

---6. The Fire Altar Game
The Fire Altar Game is a favorite pastime in the underground
village. It's run by two guys named Cont and Roller. The altar in
the center is meant to look like the game controller. Flames will
appear on the altar, and you must press the button corresponding
to the flame before it goes out. If you press the wrong button, or
take too much time, the game is over. After each round, you can
choose to stop and keep the prize, or try for a better one.
Prizes:
1. Rough Diamond
2. Mega Topaz
3. Thunder Stone
4. Icemarine
5. Crimson Ruby
6. Rainbow Diamond
7. ???

I don't know what the 7th prize is, as I haven't been able to beat
the 7th round. Perhaps someone with faster reflexes and/or more
patience can help here.

---7. Caves
After nightfall, some caves become accessible.

Location: Near Kimoi
Pot's Daedalos spell can be found here. If you have Ukkie and 7
monkeys, you can get a Demon King Scale.

Location: Near Fice
One of Ukkie's monkeys is here.

Location: Nekojarashi (south of Nycalo mountain)
This cave leads to Shamuru's hometown. Pot's Death spell can be
found here.
After nightfall, a new passage opens up. You can find a Air Hood,
Cat-Ears Hat and Vitalin All there.

You can find a Chaos Knuckle, Eureka Pot and Earth Shield.

Location: Underground cave near Nekojarashi

----XII. Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Which characters should I have in the party?
A: Some parts of the story require certain characters, but for the
most part you can have whoever you want in the party. Keep in
mind, though, that you will need 8 decent-level characters in
order to get through the last dungeon.

Q: Where is Pot?
A: In Grangram's kitchen. Talk to one of the cooks and he'll ask
you to put some wine into the jar in the storage room. Pour the
wine in the strange-looking pot and a voice will say that he's
drunk. Baboo will recognize the voice as Grancol, AKA Pot. Great
Gnome sealed him in a pot again and he forgot all his summoning
magic. He'll insist on joining you, in the hopes of regaining his
magic.

Q: Where is Mambo?
A: In Mukabi. Go to the lake in the north, and go behind the
stairs. Head south where there is a break in the fence. Mambo is
at the bottom of the stairs there.

Q: How do I open the doors in Megaloking's lair in Hell Valley?
A: There's a room to the east with several red crystals. These are
switches that operate the doors and elevators.

Q: Which tree in Nycalo Mountain is the right one?
A: You want the one that's standing by the grey treasure chest.

Q: I keep getting sent back to the beginning in Brauer Forest! How
do I stop this?
A: Once you cut a purple mushroom, you must cut a red one within 8
steps, or you'll be sent back to the beginning. Before you cut
anything, take note of the mushrooms around it.

Q: How do I get to the lower level of the Antlion Lair?
A: Look for a door in a side wall. It's surrounded by light-
colored rocks.

Q: How do I get to the room to the left of the stairs in Crystal
Castle?
A: There is a secret passage from the room on the right. Drop
through the hole in the floor to that roomn, then go through the
wall in the NW.

Q: How do I get through the ice floor in Crystal Castle?
A: Move Gabro through the door, to the ice floor. Take the Robot
down the left path to the other side of the ice floor. Move the
robot up, left and up to step on the first switch. Switch to Gabro
and move him down, right, down, left and up. Switch to the Robot
and move right and up. Switch to Gabro and move left, down, right
and down to get to the treasure chest, the left and up to step on
the switch. Switch to Robot and move left and up to get to the
chest. Switch to Gabro, and move down. Move the Robot down and
left. Move Gabro up back on the switch. Move the Robot right and
up. Move Gabro do, left and down.

Q: How do I get the Dragobird to grow?
A: Here is what to enter:
"CH"
"Do"- 4th row, 5th from left; then 7th row, 5th from right

Q: There's a treasure chest in the cave in Dark Zone that none of
the warp points leads to. How do I get to it?
A: After the warp point to area 3 appears, check the house.
There's a warp point there leading to the chest.

Q: How do I open the locked door in Kutomina?
A: Take note of the where the flowers and vases are on the second
floor. The candlesticks on the third floor are arranged in the
same formation. Light a fire in the same places where there were
flowers. If you're right, the door will open.

Q: There is a door blocked by a hole in the floor in Kutomina. How
do I get to it?
A: Go there when the bridges are down. After you gain access to
the elevator in Doan's lab, go back to the towers and turn off the
switches to lower the bridges. Then take the elevator back up and
backtrack to where the hole in the floor was. You should be able
to reach the door now.

Q: How do I keep from getting killed by the Gigahyde-casting
monsters in Dark's Fortress?
A: Here's what I did. Equip both Rumiella and Shamuru with a
Kirara Ring, and put one of them on each team. If you only have
one Kirara Ring, give it to Rumiella. I'd also recommend giving
her an Angel Ring or Warrior Ring, too. Shamuru's team doesn't
really have to worry about them. Just have her throw a Smoke Ball
and escape. She should be fast enough that she'll act before the
monsters can. As for Rumiella's team, have everyone let loose with
the most powerful fire/light-based or non-elemental attacks they
have (A combination of the hero's Last Slash, Baltes' Lion Sword
Dance, and the Robot's Flamethrower can kill them all in one round
if you're lucky). If they don't cast Gigahyde, you lucked out. If
more than one of them cast it, Rumiella/Shamuru will be healed,
but everyone else is probably toast. Don't bother trying to revive
them. Just have Rumiella/Shamuru attack the monsters.

Q: There are some chests in Dark's Fortress that I can't get to.
How do I get them?
A: There is a door hidden in the left side of the first staircase.
It's hidden behind the black bar going across the ceiling.

Q: How do I beat the last boss?
A: The entity changes elements every round. It goes Fire (red)-
>Water (blue)->Earth (brown)->Air (green). So, you'll need to
attack with the opposite elements, Water->Fire->Air->Earth, in
that order. For the first few rounds, watch which of your
characters move before the transformation, and which move after.
Have those that move before it transform attack with the current
round's weakness. Have the ones that move after the transformation
attack with the next round's weakness.

----XIII. Walkthrough

---0. Introduction/Training Mission

As the story begins, we see the evil sorceror Dark and his
henchman Dr. Doan and his chamber. He has six green eggs. He
chants a spell to hatch them, and six strange monsters emerge.
Dark orders his new generals to find the relics of the ancients so
he can use them to plunge the world into darkness. The general
vanish.

Elsewhere, a Dragon Knight desperately flies through the mist.

In the Shell-beast village, the Elder senses something strange.
The mist surrounding Shelldorado seems to be changing. He calls
one of his attendants and tells him to fetch Baboo, Kupikupi and
Poyon.

The three Shell Heroes are on a training mission in the caves
behind the Shell-beast Village. Their job is to bring back the
"Ordeal Ball" from within the cave. Poyon is, as usual, too hungry
to move, but he regains his strength when Baboo tells him a feast
is waiting for them when they get back. Save your game at the
rainbow spot and forge ahead. Occasionally, Baboo will pipe up
with generic game hints like "Don't forget to equip new items".
The dungeon is pretty straightforward, so you should have no
trouble finding the ball. Once you do, a warp point appears and
you take it back to the village.

Items to find: Kamidanomin (2), Magic Fruit, Ordeal Ball

Poyon runs off to his imagined feast, but the Elder's attendant
rushes in, bumping into him. He says that the Elder wants to see
them at once.

The Heroes go to see the Elder. They hand over the Ordeal Ball.
Poyon starts getting excited about the feast, but Baboo stops him.
The elder says that the mist is acting strange and he wants them
to investigate. Before he can finish the sentence, Great Gnome
arrives. He's noticed the disturbance in the mist, too.

Suddenly, the shadow of a Dragobird appears. It's trying to land.
The Dragonbird drops onto the square and the knight riding it
staggers over to the Elder. He's been badly wounded. He says his
name is Luka and he's a Dragon Knight. He came from beyond the
mist. His village was attacked by monsters sent by someone named
Dark. He came seeking the help of the Shell Heroes.

The Dragon Knight passes out. But he appears to have been
followed. Dr. Doan arrives with a contingent of monsters. He sends
the monsters to kill everyone. Fight them off. Baboo's Baku spell
should be enough to send them packing. Dr. Doan runs off with his
tail between his legs.

Later, the attendant comes to tell the Elder that Luka has died.
Something is obviously happening in the world outside the mist,
and it could affect their world. Great Gnome suggests they call
the Fire Shell Hero. Everyone moves to the altar and the Elder
begins the incantation.

So the time has come for the chosen one to become the Fire Shell
Hero. And you're it. So enter your name, hero. Press "CH" to
switch between hiragana, katakana and roman letters. Press "END"
when you're done.

On Earth, you and your dog are playing in the park. Your dog runs
off and comes back carrying a red shell. The ground shakes. A red
light envelopes you and your dog. When is fades, you've
disappeared. The little girl watching you runs to tell her mother,
but she's too busy taking a nap.

Back in the Shell-beast village, your dog appears at the altar by
himself. Kupikupi takes a look at the dog's collar. Enter the name
for your dog. If they take the dog with them, maybe he'll lead
them to the Fire Shell Hero. Poyon appears to be afraid of dogs.
The dog picks up on that and chases him off.

Later, the three Heroes and the dog prepare to ride the Dragobird
to the world outside the mist. Great Gnome says that the Demon
King Fattobajah (from DM1) supposedly came from outside the mist.
The Elder gives you the three shells, and the Dragobird takes off.

After they leave, the Elder laments that his brother, Grancol,
isn't there to help. Great Gnome says he's gotten himself sealed
in a pot again.

The Dragobird flies through the mist, but it's a hard ride.
Lightning strikes the Dragonbird and everyone goes flying.

Dr. Doan goes to see Dark. He starts to tell Dark about the Shell-
beast village, but Dark already knows. Doan asks for troops to
help him exterminate the Shell-beasts, but Dark is more interested
in finding the Aura Stones. With them, he'd have no problem
destroying the Shell-beasts, or anything else.

---1. Rumiella's Illness

The red light drops you in the middle of a forest. Almost
immediately, you're surrounded by bandits. They attack you, but
9000000000suddenly a girl appears and casts a spell on them. It's
Rumiella. She asks if you're okay, but you pass out. You're
wounded, but the wounds don't look like they were caused by the
monsters. Despite her teacher's objections, Rumiella insists on
bringing you back to the castle. On the way, the princess tries to
asl who you are and where you come from, but she's never heard of
the place.

Baltes returns to the castle and the guards tell him of the
stranger Rumiella brought. One of the guards comments on the shell
Baltes has with him. He asks if it's supposed to be a present for
someone. Baltes doesn't want to talk about it. He goes to see you
and finds Rumiella watching over you. He's suspicious of you, but
the princess doesn't seem to think you're a bad person. He takes
out the shell and gives it to Rumiella. The princess thanks him
and he fumbles over his words. He starts to tell her something
else, but reconsiders. He says he's going to bed. Rumiella wishes
him good dreams. Once outside the room, Baltes says to himself,
"Princess Rumiella... Waking or sleeping, all my dreams are of
you." Awwwwwwwwww.

Rumiella's shell starts glowing and shaking. Baboo appears from
the shell! He tries to tell Rumiella that he's not someone
suspicious, but she's already convinced. After all, he's so
cuuuuuuute! Baboo sees the Fire Shell on the bed. He explains what
happened to Rumiella. Rumiella runs to tell the king. The king
wonders if the strange happenings in the kingdom could be related
to Baboo's story.

You and Baboo go to see the king. Soon after, a knight runs in,
saying that someone has broken into the treasury. Rumiella tells
you to stayand guard the king, and runs to help defend the
treasury.

Megaloking, one of Dark's generals, opens a treasure chest and
apparently finds what he was looking for, an old manuscript.
Rumiella runs to try to stop him. She tries to grab the manuscript
from him. Megaloking blasts her away with a spell (reluctantly- he
apparently doesn't like fighting girls). Baltes runs in to rescue
Rumiella. They fight, but Megaloking blasts a hole in the ceiling
and jumps away. Baltes runs after him.

Later, Rumiella has been brought to her room. She's still
unconscious. The doctor suggests that the royal doctor, Basil, may
know how to cure her. The king asks you and Baboo to go see Basil
in the south forest. Naturally, you agree, being a hero and all.
Before you go, the king gives you clothes better suited to
adventuring, as well as a map and 100 Pearls. Before you go,
explore the castle. One of the things you'll find is Pot, hidden
in the castle kitchen.

Items in the castle: 100P, Kamidanomin (6), Leather Breastplate,
Dagger, Traveller's Hat, Magic Fruit (2)

Meanwhile, Megaloking brings the book back to Dark. With this,
Dark can find the locations of the Aura Stones. He orders Dr. Doan
to have the 6 generals find the Aura Stones. Megaloking stomps
away, but Doan stops him. Doan offers to keep the orders from the
other generals so that Megaloking can take the credit for finding
the Aura Stones, but Megaloking will have none of it and refuses
to betray his brothers. Doan isn't too pleased that Megaloking
declined his offer.

Before you go to the forest, you can stop by Grangram City to
stock up on supplies and such. Be sure to get a Stamp Card for the
Stamp Rally. There is also an entrance to the Time Temple there.
Go and experiment with that if you want.

People around town are talking about how many children have gone
missing lately. There is also a Flying Circus that features
trained piglets. Some people report seeing a giant bird flying
east, and it seemed to be wounded.

Items in Grangram City: 100P, Kamidanomin (2), Crimson Ruby, Again
Drop, Leather Shield

Head to the small forest SE of the castle. Basil's house is there.
Once Basil hear's that Rumiella is sick, he rushes to help her.
Unfortunately, it appears that Rumiella's illness is the result of
a spell, and the only way to break it is to kill the one who cast
it. It looks like you're going after Megaloking.

Items in Basil's House: 200P, Kamidanomin

---2. Secrets Under Pantana

Pantana is just north of Grangram. This village is the
headquarters of the Hell Valley excavation, one of King Grangram's
treasure-hunting schemes. There is supposed to be ruins of an
ancient civilization here, and there are rumors of a great
treasure. Megaloking has been here, too. He's taken all the able-
bodied men and forced them to work in the excavation site.

Baltes is in the hotel. He followed Megaloking here and tried to
fight him, but was wounded, He still insists on going to the site
to face him again. Baboo stops him and tells him what happened to
Rumiella. He still insists on going, but he lets you come with
him.

Items in Pantana: Kamidanomin (2)

Head south from Pantana to the excavation site. The floor here is
unstable. You'll fall through if you step in some places. There
are some treasures that you can only reach by falling, though.

After travelling a bit, you find one of Megaloking's minions
whipping one of the workers. Fight off the guard and talk to the
worker. He says that they were kidnapped from Pantana and forced
to dig without any food. Another worker says they were looking for
something called an Aura Stone, but he doesn't know what that is.
Some of Baltes' soldiers are there, too.

Megaloking's lair is at the bottom of the excavation. One of his
minions runs in and tells him that they've just dug up the Aura
Stone. He also tells him that some soldiers from Grangram have
infiltrated the lair, but Megaloking isn't worried.

Ride the elevator to Megaloking's lair. There's a healing pot near
the entrance. There are doors in the walls to the west and east,
but they're not marked. One has a save point.

To activate the doors and elevators, go into the eastern room and
examine the red crystals. They're actually switches, and will turn
yellow when you turn them on. To get to the one near the north
wall, you'll need to take the elevator down, go through the hall
to the east and up the stairs.

Turn on the last elevator and ride it up to Megloking's room.
Before you try to approach the throne, go to the back of the room
and search the seats and switches. Major loot!

Megaloking is in the throne on the yellow dais. Now that he's
found the Aura Stone, he doesn't really need to stay and fight,
but since you went to all the trouble of getting here, he
ll do you a favor and fight anyway. Baboo asks what an Aura Stone
is. Megaloking says that his master, Dark, is looking for the 6
Aura Stones. They're found in ancient ruins like this one.

Megaloking attacks. Fire is the only magic that does any good, but
even that isn't much. Save your MP for healing, since he can
attack the whole party at once.

After Megaloking is defeated, he drops the Aura Stone. Baltes
picks it upand you run out. On your way, you free the trapped
villagers. You barely make it out before Megaloking's lair self-
destructs.

Items in the excavation site: 50P, Kamidanomin (2), Leather
Shield, Battle Knife, Shell House, Telepo Stone, Magic Fruit (2),
Leather Armor, Boomerang, Headgear, Crimson Ruby (2), Thunder
Stone (2), Rainbow Diamond (2)

---4. Mushking's Trap

Dr. Doan goes to report to Dark that Megaloking failed. Dark
already knows. Doan has brought Megaloking's body back, think he
can use one of his experimental machines to revive him. Mushking,
another of the generals, heard the conversation, and says he won't
fail like Megaloking.

Back at the castle, Basil says that the curse on Rumiella appears
to have been lifted. But she still hasn't awakened. Basil says
there's still one thing left to do. She needs a kiss from some
purehearted enough to drive away the evil of the curse. Baltes is
anxious to help, but Basil picks you. You reluctantly comply, and
Baltes storms off. Rumiella awakes.

Dark has been watching. He saw Baltes' reaction and thinks he
might be useful later on. He orders Doan to have Mushking set up a
trap for Baltes. Doan leaves, grumbling about how that white
beastman could still be alive. Does he know something about
Baltes?

Doan goes to tell Mushking of Dark's orders. Mushking laughs and
accuses him of wanting to share the credit when he succeeds and
being a general suck-up to Dark. Doan gets mad and runs off.

That night, Baltes stands alone on the castle roof. He hears you
and Rumiella talking and goes to investigate. "You" profess your
love for Rumiella, but say "you" think Baltes doesn't like you.
Rumiella calls Baltes an idiot (bonk!). She says she could never
love an animal like him. She invites "you" into bushes and...
well... Baltes is angry, but figures if Rumiella hates him that
much, he has no reason to stay. He leaves.

Great Goddess on a pogo stick! Did our hero just TALK? Are the
four shellbeasts of the apocalypse riding up the mist road? Nope,
no such luck. "You" and "Rumiella" emerge from the bushes and shed
their disguises, revealing them to be monster imposters. Our hero
is still mute.

The next morning, Rumiella rushes in and wakes you and Baboo up.
Baltes has gone, and he's left a letter. He says he's going on a
journey and thanks them for taking care of him 5 years ago.

Flashback to 5 years before. Baltes staggers up to the gate of
Grangram Castle and collapses. The guards have never seen anyone
like him and don't know what to do. Rumiella arrives and tells
them to bring him into the castle. Later, Baltes wakes up.
Rumiella asks his name, but he doesn't remember it.

Baltes ends his letter by telling them not to come look for him,
and wishing you and Rumiella well. He says he hopes your love will
last forever. The last part looks like it's stained with tears.
Neither you nor Rumiella know what he's talking about.

You tell the king about the Aura Stones and Dark. The king has
heard the name Dark before. He controls monsters, and would turn
this world into a hell if left to his own devices. Fortunately, he
remembers where some of the Aura Stones are hidden. One is in
Brauer Forest in the north, and one is in the desert. Naturally,
you're going to go find them. Rumiella decides to go with you. The
king objects, but Rumiella says that she can't stay here with the
whole world in danger. The king gives you a passport so you can
travel across Longbridge in the north.

On your way there, stop by Pantana again. All the men are back. An
old woman living in a house in the SW corner has a son living in
Mukabi, and wants you to deliver a letter to him for her.

Longbridge is just north of Pantana. Apparently, Baltes crossed
the bridge several days ago, but he wasn't looking too happy.

Items in Longbridge: 50 P, Kamidanomin (7), Vitalin A

Meanwhile, Baltes has been captured by Mushking. He lured Baltes
by disguising himself as Rumiella and giving Baltes a kiss. Now he
intends to brainwash Baltes and use him against the Fire Shell
Hero.

The next towm you come to is Mukabi (which means "fungus-less" in
japanese). Yellow spores float in the air, and mold seems to
growing on everything. Brauer forest supposedly has the same
problem, with mushrooms growing so loarge they've blocked the way
through. The fungus has caused an outbreak of a strange illness,
too. Some people tell you of a woodcutter who lives in Tontace who
can caut down anything. Maybe he can get you through the forest.

Items in Mukabi: 450P, Poizunon, Panacea, Again Drop, Kamidanomin

Tontace is north of Mukabi. Andre does live here, but he's gone to
Nycalo Mountain and won't come back. His fiancee, Inos, has gone
to look for him. Nycalo Mountain is home to the Porohoi Trees, who
can mimic the voice and movements of anyone. A dance teacher named
Audrey is staying at the inn, and she's looking for the trees.

Tontace is also home to a scientist named Dr. Spanner, and his
children, Torque and Ratchet, and his wife (Socket?). He's
building a robot.

Items in Tontace: 50P, Poizunon, Vitalin A

As you go to leave Tontace, Baltes arrives with a squad of
monsters. He tells them to destroy everything and kill everyone.
Rumiella demands to know what he's doing, but Baltes won't talk to
her. As far as he's concerned, you all dishonored him, and he's
out for revenge. He sends his monsters after you. After you beat
them, he attacks you himself. Several villagers come to watch.
They say Baltes also destroyed the village next to theirs. Baltes
decides the battlefield has gotten too crowded, and leaves.

The ruined village is to the east. Be careful of the poison
puddles. Part of it is blocked by a rock. You'll have to come back
once you have a way to remove it.

Items in ruined village: Vitalin A, Poizunon, Warrior Medal,
Buckler

---5. The Singing Trees

Nycalo Mountain is west of Tontace. Andre's fiancee, Inos, is
lying near the entrance. She came looking for Andre, but hurt her
foot and can't go any further. Rumiella offers to take her back to
Tontace, but Inos won't go, yet. She wants to let Andre know how
she feels, in the hopes that it will convince him to return to the
village. She asks you to bring her a Porohoi tree so she can teach
it their song.

You can find Porohoi trees wandering around the mountain. Talk to
one and it will follow you. Bring the tree back to Inos and she'll
sing her song to it (Press A to skip it if you're tired of it).
Here are the lyrics if you're interested:
Anata no kokoro ni yami ga otozuretara
Watashi wa Kazefuri no oka no kaze ni natte
Anata no kokoro o fukinuketai
Anata no kokoro no ame ga futtara
Watashi wa Nycalo no taki no kiri ni natte
Anata no kororo ni niji o kaketai
Kokoro o Hiraite Kokoro o hiraite

Which translates to:
When your heart falls into darkness,
I will be the wind on Windy Hill
And sweep your heart away.
When it's raining in your heart
I will be the waterfall mists of Nycalo Mountain
And create a rainbow in your heart
Open your heart, Open your heart

If you got the wrong tree, it will sing offkey, and you'll have to
go get another one. If you get the right one, other trees will
join in and dance together. Audrey, the dance teacher, will come
in and dance with the trees. Andre will move the rock and peek out
to see what all the commotion is. Now you see why he wouldn't come
out- the fungus plague has caused green fungus to grow on top of
his head! He was afraid his fiancee wouldn't like him like that.
When he hears that he'll be cured if you get rid of the fungus
monsters, he agrees to help you. You bring Inos back to Tontace.

Items in Nycalo Mountain: Crimson Ruby, Ring Mail, Buckler,
Icemarine, Mega Topaz, Shell House (need Andre for these)

---6. The Mushroom Forest

Brauer Forest is east of Tontace. Andre is waiting for you. He
explains about the mushrooms in the forest. There are purple and
red mushrooms. Once you cut a purple one, you must cut a red one
within 8 steps, or you'll be sent back to the beginning. Andre
joins the party for the time being. When you want to cut a
mushroom, stand next to it and press the A button. Keep in mind
that there are a finite number of red mushrooms. The nearest one
may not be the right one to cut. The exit is in the NE corner. If
you're going for a treasure chest, you may have to settle for
getting sent back. Not all the chests are within reach of a red
mushroom.

One of Mushking's minion runs to tell him you've infiltrated the
forest. He sends Baltes after you.

Andre joins as a helper, then returns to Nycalo. Hopefully, you'll
get rid of the mushroom monsters soon so he can get married.

Items in Brauer Forest: Vitalin A (2), Again Drop, Iron Helm, Long
Sword, Poizunon, Protection Hat, Poizunon (2), Ring Mail,
Kamidanomin

As you try to leave Brauer forest, Baltes stops you. Rumiella
claims they have no reason to fight, but Baltes tries to remind
her of what she said about him. Rumiella, of course, has no idea
what he's talking about. He throughs a gas bomb that knock
everyone but you unconscious. You fight, as Baltes wins. Baltes
goes to kill Rumiella, but finds that he cant. Instead, he picks
her up and carries her away. Mushking appears to stop him.
Mushking demands that he hand over Rumiella, but Baltes refuses.
Apparently, Mushking's brainwashing wasn't as complete as he
thought. He knocks Baltes out and takes Rumiella.

You wake up in Uro's tent. Baboo says it was Baltes who brought
you here. Go see Baltes outside. He's gotten his memory back. He
apologizes for what he did and asks you to let him help you rescue
Rumiella. She's being kept in the enemy's base, Mush Angler.

Go through Brauer Forest to get to Mush Angler. Mushking is about
to turn Rumiella into a poison mushroom, when Dr. Doan comes and
tells him you're still alive. Dr. Doan offers to take the newly
unearthed Aura Stone to Dark, so that Mushking doesn't end up like
Megaloking. Mushking won't hear of it, and says he'll deliver the
Aura Stone after he defeats you.

To get to various parts of Mush Angler, climb up the tall mushroom
in the middle, then slide off. First, follow the path to the right
until you get to a switch. Flip it to activate the elevator. Then
take the north path to the save point. Go left at the save point.
At the end of the path is a mushroom that bounces you out of the
building. Go back in through the side door.

Inside is Rumiella. But Mushking is there, too, and he attacks.
Fire and Earth spells work well, but ice and bacteria spells heal
him.

Once you beat him, you take the Aura Stone. Everyone leaves Mush
Angler. The giant fungus collapses, and the fungus mist clears.

Items in Mush Angler: Kamidanomin, Scale Shield, Shell House,
Silver Sword

Back in Tontace, it's time for Andre's wedding. Baltes tries to
sneak away during the ceremony, but Rumiella stops him. Baltes is
ashamed of what he did, even though he was brainwashed. Rumiella
tries to console him. She asks if he recognizes the name Doan, but
he doesn't. She asks why he left the castle. Baltes is too
embarrassed to tell the whole truth, but he admits it was because
he was jealous. Rumiella doesn't know what he'd be jealous of,
though. Baltes is still determined to leave. Until he's cleared
his heart of jealousy and doubt, he can't face you or Rumiella.

Dr. Spanner comes to see you. He has something for you. It's his
latest amazing genious (according to him) invention, the Telepo-
ship. With this, you can teleport to any town you've been to with
just the flip of a switch. You can also switch party members there
by talking to the ship's operator, Wrenchie. Wrenchie asks you to
name the ship. Dr Spanner returns to town to continue working on
his robot. Go through Brauer forest to the next village.

Doan comments to Dark (gleefully, almost) that Mushking failed.
However, he's succeeded in rebuilding Megaloking, so he has a
plan. Dark order Doan to go with Megaloking (now called Hyper-
Megalo), and make sure he doesn't fail.

---7. When Pigs Fly (on the flying trapese)

Head for the desert town of Salaam. People report seeing a strange
dog around town. It was big, but friendly. Baltes has also
apparently been through here, and was headed east. They use a
windmill to bring water up from the ground, but something has run
into it and caused it to malfunction. As you try to leave Salaam,
someone runs and tells you there's a sandstorm outside. It's too
dangerous to leave now, so you'd better stay at the inn for now.

Items in Salaam: Kamidanomin (6), Vitalin A, Again Drop, Silver
Short Sword, Dagger, Flare Rod, Great Helm

Meanwhile, far to the south, the wounded Dragobird lands near a
lighthouse. The villagers summon a doctor. The doctor says the
bird is pregnant with an egg, but it's so weak that it will die if
it tries to give birth. Sure enough, the bird lays the egg and
promptly dies. The lighthouse keeper goes to tell his wife what
happened. Their daughter wants to go see the circus that's come to
the town of Lampa. Her mother won't let her, because of the rash
of kidnappings that have occured in Lampa. The girl insists, and
the lighthouse keeper says he'll take her.

The circus is run by the ringmasterm Jodan (which means "joke" in
japanese). Jodan brings out his group of trained piglets and has
them perform tricks.

Just a side note: If you can't read japanese, you are seriously
missing out here. Jodan speaks in the most gloriously bizarre
japanese/english/french patois I've ever seen. I wish there were
some way to translate it and keep the effect.

After the show, a woman runs around looking for her daughter,
Maris, but she's nowhere to be found.

Cole, the circus cook, goes to feed the pigs. One of them seems
awfully anxious to be fed. Cole goes to shut it up, but the pig
breaks through the cage and knocks him out. It's Poyon! And the
pig in the adjacent cage is Kupikupi! Kupikupi tells him to get
the key, but Poyon has some trouble understanding (puns!). Poyon
eventually gets it and lets him out. The rest of the pigs are
kidnapped children that Jodan turned into pigs using a magic
spell. There must be some way of turning them back to normal
somewhere in the tent. Head up the stairs.

Go through the center door. Radar, one of Jodan's Three
Musketeers, is guarding the stairs to the next floor. He shoots at
Kupikupi with a flamethrower, and that gets Poyon thinking about
bacon :). Anyway, beat him. If you're lucky, Poyon will learn the
Fire Breath skill during the fight. He has a potion that will
counterattack Jodan's pig spell. Kupikupi and Poyon use it on
themselves. Now go and use it on the other pigs.

Go upstairs. The dog is there, in a cage. The key you got from
Cole won't open it, so you'll have to find the right key.

Jodan's room is to the south. The mayor of a nearby village has
come to confront Jodan about the kidnappings that occured since
the circus came to town. Jodan tries to deny it, but realizes the
jig is up, and turns the man into a pig. Kupikupi and Poyon burst
in to stop him. Jodan doesn't really want to kill them, because
they're part of his collection of strange creatures, but he can't
have them escaping. He attacks. If you're wondering, the
characters in his picture are "Nohyaaaa", his signature laugh.

After you beat him, he vows revenge ("I am strike back!") and
jumps into the box by the desk. Poyon goes to open it, but it's
empty. Jodan escaped, but at least you can free the children.

Items in the circus tent: Kamidanomin (9), Magic Fruit (2),
Leather Shield, Magician Staff, Protection Hat, Leather
Breastplate

The children all run away, except for Chiko, the girl from the
lighthouse. The lighthouse keeper comes to pick her up, and
Kupikupi tells him what happened. The lighthouse keeper mentions
the Dragobird, and Kupikupi insists on seeing it.

They go back to the lighthouse, and they Shell-beasts tell how
they rode here on the Dragonbird. The lighthouse keeper decides to
give you the egg. Suddenly, the shell cracks. Kupikupi accuses
Poyon of trying to eat it, but it wasn't him. A baby Dragobird
hatches out of the egg and perches on Poyon's head. Kupikupi
suggests they go look for Baboo. The lighthouse keeper thinks they
should look in Grangram, but there are no boats available to go
there. Besides, they've forgotten the dog on the circus balloon!

As you leave, Chiko wants to talk to Kupikupi. She has a crush on
him!

Items in the lighthouse: Vitalin All, Icemarine

They won't let anyone into the circus balloon until they've found
Jodan, so go look around Lampa. No boats are running now, so the
only way to get to Grangram is by air. Maybe you could use the
circus balloon.

Items in Lampa: Magical Cube, Holy Staff, Thunder Stone, Battle
Plate, Vitalin A (2), Again Drop

You can now enter the balloon again. They still haven't found
Jodan, so maybe he escaped. One of the team sent to look for Jodan
has already let the dog out of the cage, and he shows his
appreciation by jumping on Poyon.

Jodan jumps out of the box. The box was a magic trick.

Sit on the green chair by Jodan's desk. It's actually an elevator
leading to the control room. Poyon tries some of the controls, but
he doesn't really know how to fly it. Kupikupi panics. The
ballooon takes off, but since you don't know how to pilot it,
there's no way to control where it goes. Suddenly, a beam shoots
from the blue chest and turns Poyon into a pig. It's Jodan! He
sets off fireworks that blow Kupikupi and the dog out of the ship.
But Jodan still has Poyon and the Dragobird,

More items in the circus balloon: Shell House, Vitalin All

---8. Treasure in the Desert

As you exit the inn, you hear a dog barking. It's your dog! If the
dog is here, Kupikupi or Poyon must be around somewhere. The dog
tries to drag you off somewhere. You follow it.

The dog leads you into the desert. Because of the sandstorm,
several patches of quicksand have formed. Unfortunately, they look
just like regular sand, so you'll have to find them by trial and
error. Always try to walk between the rocks. Sometimes you can get
through, even though it looks too narrow. To get to the dog,
you'll have to circle around counter-clockwise, then backtrack a
bit to where the Iron Sword is, then go south. Kupikupi is there,
too. He gives you his Air Shell. The dog is too tired to stand, so
you send it back to the Telepo-ship. Kupikupi joins you. Pick 4
characters to be in the party, and head back to town. One of the
townspeople has heard of a big circus coming to the city of
Galahar, so that's where you're headed next.

Items in the desert: Iron Breastplate, Vitalin A, Thunder Stone,
Magical Cube, Iron Sword, Magic Gown, Monk Medal

---9. Galahar

Dr. Doan and Hyper-Megalo have gone to the location specified in
the ancient manuscript, but there are no ruins there. The
quicksand must have moved it.

The circus has indeed come to Galahar. As you might expect,
children have started to go missing. The main attraction is the
human cannonballs. There are three of them in the city, and
they're all very popular.

Tex, a former bandit leader, knows a lot about the area. He lives
in the SW corner. However, he's in no mood to talk about ruins.
His granddaughter, Meruru, is missing. Apparently, she went to the
circus and never came back. Surprise, surprise.

Items in Galahar: 3500P, Mega Topaz, Kamidanomin (2), Ice Rod,
Thunder Rod

The circus is to the north. People come running away from the
circus grounds. One woman is looking for her son, Paruru.

Jodan goes to check out his "collection". He decides Poyon makes a
better show in his original form, so he changes him back. He plans
to use his collections to attract visitors and make himself rich.
That is, if Poyon doesn't eat him out of house and home, first.

The human cannonball exhibition starts. Five of Jodan's minions
are fired out of cannons and land on the deck of the balloon. Go
to the balloon. The minion guarding the gate raises the bridge
before you can get in. You'll have to get in another way. Like the
cannons.

Buy some gunpowder and go find one of Galahar's human cannonballs.
They're hanging around various parts of the city. Once you pick
one, have them shoot you out the cannon. Only one has the right
combination of gunpowder and timing to get you there. The best
choice is the red-haired guy. You can get to his room through the
sewer.

You land in Jodan's room. He attacks. Use wind spells, if you have
any. If not physical attacks work fine. The only thing you have to
worry about if his "Nohyahyahya" attack, which takes a large chunk
of HP out of the party. After you beat him, he gives you a J-Mark
Key and runs away.

Take the chair elevator to the control room. Use the J-mark Key to
open the doors on either side. The treasure boxes here are
actually Jack-in-the-boxes, so you'll have to fight for the loot
this time.

Once you get to the bottom floor, we switch back to Poyon. Poyon
smells his friends and decides to escape. He breaks out of the
cage (it's the sameone he broke before). The girl in the next cage
wants out, too, but you'll need a key for hers. Cole comes in to
feed the captives. Poyon knocks him out and takes the key and
opens the cage. The girl is Meruru, Tex's granddaughter.

In the next room is a cat. The cat can talk! She's a member of the
Cat Tribe, who cat change into cats. Her name is Shamuru, and
she's a thief. Poyon accuses her of being a criminal, and she
calls him a green dumpling (are green dumplings good to eat?). But
Shamuru only steals from corrupt rich people and gives what she
steals to the poor. Poyon lets her out. She snuck into the circus
to look for something, but got caught in a catnip trap. Now she
can't turn back to normal because of the magic collar they put on
her. Poyon takes off the collar and Shamuru turns back to normal.

After the save point in the next room, you meet up with the other
party. From now on, you'll need the two parties to work together.
Press the Y button to switch between them. Standing on a button
will raises or lower a pillar. The hero's team controls the blue
ones and Poyon's team controls the red ones. Move around the room
counter-clockwise until the hero's team is standing on the blue
swith that opens the door in the north wall. Have Poyon's team go
through the door.

Another of Jodan's Three Musketeers, Hellmurder, is waiting by the
elevator. Fight him off and take the elevator up to the main
floor. Poyon and Shamuru run through the circus ring. Jodan stops
you. Poyon yells ate him for providing lousy food, and Shamuru
yells at Poyon for always talking about food. Jodan orders you
back into your cage. The hero's team arrives and challenges him.
Jodan activates a trap door that drops you all onto the ground
outisde the balloon. The balloon takes off. Angry that he's let
his collection escape twice, Jodan stuffs poor Cole into the
cannon and fires him out.

More items in the balloon: Strange Hood, Blancard, Kamidanomin
(2), Large Shield, Battle Axe, Vitalin A (2), Magic Fruit,
Throwing Knife, Iron Breastplate, Vitalin All, Silver Short Sword,
Scale Shield

After hearing your story, Shamuru decides to join you. Poyon gives
you his Water Shell. Cole comes falling out of the sky and lands
on Poyon. Poyon still thinks he's a good guy (he brought food,
after all), so he joins as a helper. Pick who will stay on the
team. Everyone else goes back to the Telepo-ship, along with the
Dragobird.

---10. The Third Aura Stone

Take Meruru back to her house. Her grandfather, Tex, thanks you.
You ask if he's heard of Aura Stones. He knows where some ruins
are that might have one. The area around them has bad sandstorms,
so he gives you a Magic Magnet. With that, you can find it.

Dark has been watching. Now that he knows where the ruins are, he
should tell Doan. Dark calls Phantom Queen and sends her after the
next Aura Stone.

Once you get outside, check your map. There should be a shiny spot
on it, That spot is the ruins Tex mentioned. When you get close,
the entrance will appear.

The floor on the first floor is full of quicksand. Try walking on
diffeent parts of the floor and you'll fall into different parts
of the cave. There are three quicksand patches on the first floor
and one on the second. Keep on the lookout for doors in the side
walls here!
If you want to try a different route, there are elevators at
various points.

The path to the lower levels is on the left side, between two
light-colored rocks. One of Dark's monsters, Lamia, is waiting for
you. Fight her off. Spells are pretty much useless against her.

The door to the ruins has shell crest on it. The crest reads:
"Here sleeps the Aura Stone. May it never be opened... Thou who
breakest the seal, ask thyself... Here lies the heart of evil...
Wilt thou become a god or a devil..." You're not sure how you were
able to read it. But how do you open the door? The fire shell
glows, and you're able to cut through the seal.

Go inside and get the Aura Stone from the dais. As you're about to
take it, an earthquake knocks you to the floor. It's Hyper-Megalo
and Doan. Doan takes the third Aura Stone and demands the other
two. He has Tex, and he'll kill him if you don't hand them over.
You have no choice but to hand them over. Hyper-Megalo gives you
Tex, but Doan scolds him. If they'd held on to their hostage, they
could have killed everyone easily. But that's not how Hyper-Megalo
does things. Hyper-Megalo stomps off, telling you that if you want
the Aura Stones back, you'll have to come after them.

You run after the Sand Scorpion. Hopefully Tex can make it back to
Galahar okay. You soon catch up and find an entry hatch.

Items in the Antlion Lair: Vitalin A, Fire Shield, Speed Clothes,
Again Drop, Bastard Sword, Sand Dragon Bone, Spirit Medal, Giant
Medal, Spike Shield, Power Tomahawk

Go around the edge of the Sand Scorpion. Save your game at the
save point, then go to the center. Doan and Hyper-Megalo are
there. Hyper-Megalo takes the Aura Stones from Doan (over his
objections), and says he'll give them back if you can beat him.
Doan tries to get them back, but Hyper-Megalo says he'll kill him
if he interferes with your battle. Doan is intimidated, but tries
to act like he doesn't care. Hyper-Megalo attacks. Fire, water and
bacteria spells don't work at all against him, but electricity
works well.

After you beat him, he accepts defeat and gives you the Aura
Stones. Doan tries to stop him, but Hyper-Megalo knocks him away.
Now you jut have to get rid of Doan.

Doan jumps off the platform and sets the Sand Scorpion's contrls
to send it on a collision course with Salaam. It will self-
destruct and blow you and Salaam to pieces. Then he'll just come
find the Aura Stones later. Doan escapes.

You try to reset the controls, but with no luck. You'll have to
stop it by destroying the engine. Follow the path Doan opened to
the engine room.

Outside, your dog runs to catch up with the Sand Scorpion.

You can't find a way to destroy the engine. You try the move you
used to break through the sealed door, but it doesn't work. It
looks like there's no way to stop it. Everyone jumps out of the
Sand Scorpion except you. Your dog jumps up and tries to get you
to leave, finally shoving you out. The dog bites at the engine ans
somehow manages to stop the machine.

After everyone is out, the machine starts again. But it's changed
course. No it's headed for Brauer Forest, where there aren't any
people.

Dr. Doan goes to investigate the wreckage in Brauer Forest. He
finds Hyper-Megalo, still barely alive. This time, he'll rebuild
him so he can't disobey him any more.

Elsewhere in the forest, Torque and Ratchet find the dog. He's
still alive, so they decide to take him home. They take him to Dr.
Spanner. The og is badly wounded, and Dr. Spanner doesn't think he
can be saved. Torque and Ratchet insist that he can, because of
all his inventions. Dr. Spanner decides to see what he can do.

The next morning, Dr. Spanner is working on his robot. The
children come to find out what happened to the dog. Dr. Spanner
says that he couldn't save the dog, and he buried its body next to
the house.

Back at the inn in Salaam, you lie awake, thinking about your dog.
You hear the Shell-beast Elder's voice, telling you not to cry
because you still have things to do. The move you used to break
the seal was only possible because of the Aura power the Fire
Shell absorbed from the ruins, therefore you couldn't have used it
on the Sand Scorpion. He tells you to go east.

Head east from Salaam until you get to the mountains.

---11. Crystal Castle

Dark is not happy with Doan. Doan tries to lay the blame on Hyper-
Megalo, but Dark doesn't want to hear it. He tells him to just
stay and watch. The next operation is up to Phantom Queen. Phanom
Queen appears and gloats a bit at Doan. However, she's concerned
about Gabro. He's supposed to be looking for another Aura Stone,
but he's just playing around. Gabro's egg wasn't completely
mature, so he was born as a child, rather than fully grown like
the others. Dark isn't worried, though.

Doan is mad. First Megaloking made him lose face twice, and now
Gabro has shown up. If he doesn't work fast, he'll lose his chance
at glory.

As you go through the mountains, you stop and look back. Your
friends ask whats wrong. You're given the choices "I can't forget
about the dog" or "Nothing, let's go". You probably want to pick
the first one.

Dr. Spanner is working on his robot in his lab. At last, it's
finished. He tries to switch it on, but nothing seems to happen.
He tries to check it and it blows up. Suddenly his wife runs in
and says that Torque and Ratchet have gone missing. They were
playing out back. They must have wandered onto one of the icebergs
and floated off. She runs to ask the villagers for help. Dr.
Spanner wants to go, too, but that explosion hurt his foot. He
whacks the robot out of frustration and all of a sudden it comes
to life. The robot offer to go look for the children in Dr.
Spanner's place. Dr. Spanner installs a Flamethrower on the robot
and gives him some Gasbombs for ammunition. Go through the door to
the north.

Items in the lab: Rainbow Diamond

Ride the iceberg to the east. Use the icebergs to cross between
glaciers. Each ride is a one-way trip, but you should be able to
find a way back.

Gabro's lieutenant, Sonia, tells one of her underlings to make the
captured humans work harder. They're getting behind schedule. Dr.
Doan comes to check on them (and gloat). Doan says that if Gabro
is shirking his duties, Dark will be mad (and Doan will be ever so
happy to tell him). Sonia isn't fazed, and tells Doan to tell Dark
that everything is going as planned.

Head south to the village of Kururu. Children have gone missing
here, too. Rumor has it that everyo last child was taken from the
village of Jem in the north.

Items in Kururu: Snow Bomb (3), Vitalin A, Kamidanomin (5), Gas
Bomb, Magic Fruit, Panacea

Go to Jem. The people there don't seem too friendly. Everyone runs
into their houses and locks the door as soon as they see you.

Items in Jem: Vitalin A

Next is the Crystal Castle. Do NOT be stingy about the ammo!
Everything here is weak against fire, and the robot's flamethrower
will kill just about anything in one shot. There are some parts of
Crystal Castle that you can only get to be dropping through holes
in the upper floors.

Sonia goes to see Gabro about the children he kidnapped. Gabro
says they were needed to dig for the Aura Stone. He's found it,
but he wants to play with it a bit more before he gives it to
Dark. Sonia warns him to be careful because Doan might be
listening. Gabro doesn't think very highly of Doan. He says to
keep the children working. Why should they have happy families
when he's all alone? Then again, he's not really alone. He has
Sonia. He asks Sonia to stay with him a bit longer. A soldier runs
in and says someone has invaded the castle. Sonia goes to
investigate.

Once out of the room, Sonia wonders why she had such a warm
feeling when Gabro spoke to her. Atrificial beings like her aren't
supposed to have emotions.

Go to the second floor. Sonia is waiting for you. The robot asks
where Ratchet and Torque are, but Sonia is confused. She's never
seen a robot, and doesn't know what to make of you. Sonia attacks,
and she beats you. She has some guards take you to a dungeon.

Later, the robot comes to in a cell. Search the door. The lock is
electronic, so the robot can unlock it easily. The stairs going up
lead to the exit, if you want to go stock up. The stairs going
down lead to the mine. The kidnapped children are there, but
Ratchet and Torque are nowhere to be found. Another of Sonia's
monsters is waiting at the bottom. The robot asks where Ratchet
and Torque are, but, if course, the monster would rather fight.

Sonia comes to see what all the commotion is about. The robot asks
again where the children are. Sonia is confused as to why he's
asking her when she's the enemy. The robot admits he has a lot to
learn. Sonia doesn't really want to fight someone so innocent.

After thinking it over for a bit, Sonia asks if the robot likes
children. The robot says yes. Sonia thinks that he'd be a good
playmate for Gabro. She promises to tell the robot where Ratchet
and Torque are if he'll play with Gabro. The robot says that Sonia
is a good person, but Sonia says she can't be, because she's a
Darkness Knight. The robot doesn't know what she means. As Sonia
leads the robot to Gabro's room, a little bat follows them.

Dr. Doan is waiting with Gabro. He's convinced Gabro that Sonia
betrayed him, and her bringing the robot is the proof. Sonia tries
to convince Gabro she's innocent, but Gabro just shoots her. The
blast blows the robot out of the room. Doan carries Sonia out of
the room. Now Gabro has no one he can trust except him. Doan can
use him as he pleases.

Items in Crystal Castle: Kamidanomin (2), Angel Ring, Panacea,
Vitalin A, Vitalin All, Icemarine (2), Gasbomb

The robot lands in Jem. Once the villagers realize he's not a
monster, they ask him to save the children from the Crystal
Castle. The robot says he will.

Items in Jem: Gasbomb, Dragon Wing

Gabro arrives in Kururu. He orders his monsters to capture every
child in the village. Seeing parents and children happy together
makes him mad, so he's going to split them all up.

Go back to Kururu. A monsters tries to stop you, saying that the
town belongs to Gabro. When you beat it, you get the Froston Key.
The key opens the tunnel in the cave to the east. The cave leads
to the bottom of the mine. Sonia is in one of the cells. The robot
says he came to fulfill his promise. Sonia thinks he's strange,
but asks him to take her to Gabro. She doesn't want him being used
by Doan.

On the way, Sonia explains about the eggs, Dark used Dr. Doan to
get the 6 eggs from beyond the mist. He used dark magic to hatch
them. However, Gabro's egg was still not fully developed, so Gabro
is still a child. He still isn't "good" or "evil", yet. Sonia
doesn't want him becoming evil. The robot asks why, since she's
supposed to be a bad person. Sonia doesn't know why. She just
feels that way when she's with Gabro.

Gabro is in his room. At first, he doesn't want to talk to anyone,
but the robot tells him the Sonia loves him, and that changes his
mind. Sonia tells him that if he continues to be used by Dark,
he'll become evil. She wants Gabro to leave with her, and they'll
go live together somewhere bright and warm. Gabro wants to go.

Dr. Doan was listening. Children are too hard to control, and if
they can't be controlled, Doan has no need for them. He tries to
shoot Gabro, but Sonia shields him. Enraged that Doan would kill
his "mother", Gabro attacks him. At first, Doan isn't worried
because Gabro's just a kid, but Gabro transforms. This wasn't in
the plan! Doan tries to run and Gabro goes after him.

The robot goes to check on Sonia. She's still alive, but not for
long. She tells him that the children are in the deepest part of
the mine, and gives him the key. She asks him to make sure Gabro
doesn't fall into Doan's trap.

Ratchet and Torque are at the bottom of the mine. Fight off the
monster guarding them, and take them up the stairway to the left.

More items in Crystal Castle: Shell House, Vitalin A (2), Aqua
Guard, Kamidanomin (4), Gasbomb (3), Mega Arm, Rough Diamond

From now on, you'll be playing with 2 parties- Gabro in one and
the Robot in the other. Press the switches on the floor to open
the doors. Each doors has two switches, so you'll need both
characters to open them.

First, move the robot to the switch in the north and switch to
Gabro. Move him to the door (check a niche in the wall for an
Angel Ring) and have both character stand on the switches. Move
Gabro to the next switch. Switch to the Robot. Move him down the
stairs to the SE. At the fork in the road, take the right path. Go
up the stairs and step on the switch.

Move Gabro through the door, to the ice floor. Take the Robot down
the left path to the other side of the ice floor. Move the robot
up, left and up to step on the first switch. Switch to Gabro and
move him down, right, down, left and up. Switch to the Robot and
move right and up. Switch to Gabro and move left, down, right and
down to get to the treasure chest, the left and up to step on the
switch. Switch to Robot and move left and up to get to the chest.
Switch to Gabro, and move down. Move the Robot down and left. Move
Gabro up back on the switch. Move the Robot right and up. Move
Gabro do, left and down.

Move both characters down the stairs to the switches. Gabro runs
through the door just as Doan is trying to escape. Gabro attacks,
but Doan is using his new experimental machine that weakens his
enemies. Doan shoot him, and he drops the Aura Stone. The Robot
picks it up. Doan tries him machine again, but it shorts out. Doan
flees. The castle starts crumbling. Gabro decides to give the Aura
Stone to the Robot since he doesn't need it any more. Gabro leads
everyone out and frees the children. But one of the children trips
while crossing the bridge and Gabro falls while saving him. The
Robot takes all the children home. Unfortunately, he couldn't keep
his promise to Sonia.

Items in the two-party maze: 8000 P, Strong Body, Sonia's Ring,
Battle Plate, Iron Glove (2), Angel Ring, Vitalin A, Kamidanomin,
Vitalin All

The scene shifts back to the hero. Go back to Tontace (you don't
actually have to do it now, but there's no reason not to). Dr.
Spanner brings you to his lab and tells you about the Robot. He
wants to take it with you, since it might be helpful against Dark.
The Robot recognizes your name from somewhere. After some effort,
he remembers that you're his master. Dr. Spanner explains that he
found your dog in the woods, and turned it into the Robot to save
its life. Now that you're reunited, you just have find the rest o
the Aura Stones. Dr. Spanner knows about the Aura Stones becuase
they were written in an old manuscript he had. Unfortunately, his
wife sold the manuscript without his knowledge. As you leave, Dr.
Spanner comes with another robot he built. It's Pochi, a robot
dog, who can be used to scout ahead in a dungeon.

---12. The Spiritualist

Head through the mountain pass to the town of Kimoi. Kimoi is
famous for its fine wine. Nearby is the Spring of Judgement, where
the souls of the dead cross over to Vahn Mountain, the world of
the dead. There is supposed to be a great treasure hidden on Vahn
Mountain, but you can't go there unless you're dead.

Items in Kimoi: 10000P, Dagger, Short Sword, Iron Axe, Leather
Shield, Boomerang, Leather Breastplate, Again Drop, Vitalin A (2),
Thunderstone, Kamidanomin, Magic Fruit, Magical Cube, Vitalin All

As you try to leave Kimoi, some of Phantom Queen's monsters arrive
to destroy the town. These monsters are weak against light, so if
you have a Holy Dagger or Holy Staff, you might want to equip it.

After you beat them, a townsperson comes to ask you a favor.
Recently, several people have had their souls stolen while they
were asleep. He wants you to investigate it. He's prepared a room
for you at the inn. Apparently, he's not going to take no for an
answer. You go to the inn and eat. All of a sudden, you feel
sleepy. Maybe you should take a nap.

That night, Jalamar comes in with one of her priests. The food
they gave you was drugged, and it looks like it has taken effect.
The priests objects that you don't seem like the bad people
Jalamara told him about. Recently, Jalamar has been acting
strangely. She's been taking souls from living people, and that's
not her usual way of doing things. But wait! You're not asleep!
Jalamar runs away and leaves the priest to deal with you. The
priest runs away, too.

Head to Kotai, south of Kimoi. As you enter, a strange figure runs
in after you. He's going too fast for you to tell who it is.
People in Kotai think Jalamar has been acting strangely, too.
Jalamar's temple is in the north. You accuse her of attacking you
in Kimoi. She claims it was to save you from the great catastrophe
that is about to befall the world. Supposedly, the greed of
mankind is bringing the world closer to disaster, so she is
collecting the souls of the greediest people and cleansing them.
It's because of these peoples' greed that Dark was able to come.
She offers to show you the face of Dark in her crystal ball. You
go to look, and fall through a trap door.

Items in Kotai: Icemarine, Vitalin A (2), Magical Cube (2)

Everyone is imprisoned, and the monsters use you for a plaything.
Upstairs, Baltes arrives and ambushes the guard. He gets the
prison key and goes into the prison. You and Baltes fight off the
monsters. There's a healing pot nearby, which you'll need, since
you're down to 1 HP and 0 MP. Now go free your friends with the
prison key

Items in the prison: Iron Sword, Mega Topaz, Fairy Medicine, Shell
House (2), Thunder Stone, Liger Blade, Battle Plate

Go confront Jalamar. Apparently, Baltes' arrival was not part of
the plan. She attacks. Jalamar is strong against all magic and
elemental weapons except poison.

After you beat her, Phantom Queen appears from inside Jalamar. She
had possessed Jalamar, but no longer needs her. The next Aura
Stone is on Vahn Mountain, but you can't get it since you're still
alive. She can look for it at her leisure.

Later, you ask Jalamar how to get to Vahn Mountain. She suggests
asking Shiragami, the god of death who lives in the Spring of
Judgement. To meet him, you need some sacred Osaru wine from
Kimoi.

---13. Monkey Cave

Dark and another general, Kaizer Blue, watch you. Kaizer Blue
complains that if Dark had left things up to him at the beginning,
they'd have the Aura Stones by now. Phantom Queen shows up to
start a fight, but Dark tells her not to come back until she has
the Aura Stone.

Talk to the bartender in Kimoi. The winemaker there can make the
Osaru wine, but he'll need water from the Monkey Cave.

Go south to the Monkey Cave. There are several blue monkeys there,
but the run if you try to talk to them. The leader of the monkeys,
Ukkie, is at the bottom of the cave. Ukkie won't let you have the
water for free. He demands all your money in exchange for it.
He'll really take it if you say yes. He'll attack you if you say
no. Don't put too much effort into fighting the underlings,
because he'll just call more.

After you beat him, he'll apologize and agree to give you the
water. Ukkie and his team of monkeys can form a bridge wherever
you see mushrooms with toothmarks on them. However, you'll need to
find 1 more monkey before you can get to the water.

Go back up to where you see two mushrooms on either side of a
chasm. Stand in front of the mushroom and call Ukkie. The other
monkey is on the other side. Now you have enough monkeys to make
it to the spring. Go back to the spring and call Ukkie. Get the
water from the spring.

Items in Monkey Cave: Thief's Dagger

Bring the water to the winemaker in Kimoi. He can make the wine
now, but it will take a whole year to age properly. But, since
it's an emergency and you can't wait a whole year, he gives you
the wine he'd been saving in order to see his dead father at the
Spring of Judgement.

---14. The Walking Dead

Take the wine to the Spring of Judgement, east of Kotai. Stand on
the altar. Shiragami will smell the wine and appear. You tell him
you want to go to Vahn Mountain (but not die in the process).
Shiragami says he'll make an exception for you if you'll get rid
of the monsters there. He separates your souls from your bodies,
allowing you to go to the mountain. If you have any light-element
weapons, use them here.

Inside, you find spirits at work digging. Some of them are the
souls that were stolen while they were asleep. But at least they
don't get tired (no bodies).

There are geysers in some of the lakes. Stand on them and they'll
carry you to one of the upper levels. You can also ride the
waterfalls down in some places.

Items in Vahn Mountain: Shell House, Holy Staff, Thief's Dagger,
Thunder Stone, Magic Cross, Shining Clothes, Scorpion Knife,
Specter Sword, Underworld Flower, Hero's Sword

Phantom Queen's lair is on top of the mountain. Unfortunately for
her, she hasn't found the Aura Stone yet. Doan arrives to "help".
Phantom Queen tells him to get stuffed.

To get the Phantom Queen, take the upper left path, over the
teleporter. The path will crumble as you walk by. When you fight
Phantom Queen, don't bother using any spells, as they have no
effect. After you beat her, Phantom Queen retreats, vowing
revenge. The lair disappears and the mountain returns to its
original state. The lair was just an illusion creted by Phantom
Queen's magic.

Items in Phantom Queen's lair: Panacea, Magic Breastplate, Vitalin
A, Vitalin All, Magical Cube, Divine Staff, Magic Fruit,
Magician's Robe

Go through the door to the north. There's another sealed door. You
use the same technique you used in the desert to open it. Go get
the Aura Stone.

Go back to the Spring of Judgement. Shiragami returns you to your
bodies, and says that as a sign of thanks, he'll let you travel to
the mountain any time you want. Jalamar arrives and says that the
kidnapped souls have all been returned to their proper places. She
joins you as a helper.

Phantom Queen returns to Dark's castle, and begs for another
chance. But Dark has no need of failures (except Doan?), and kills
her.

---15. The Metal Fish

Go south from Kimoi to get to Marinallen. Here, you can catch a
boat to the town of Seaba, on the other side of the inner sea.
However, few ships are sailing now. There have been sightings of a
ghost ship recently. Several ships have gone after it, but none
have succeeded. Apparently, it can submerge under the water, like
a sumarine. On a more interesting note, the east side of town is
owned entirely by Jodan, and some pretty strange people have been
seen there.

Somewhere to the southwest is the Dragon Knights' village. You
should be able to reach it if you go through Seaba.

There a boy named Tem living here. His father is an adventurer,
and is away right now. He offes to sell you something "good" for
20000P. It's the Oink-Oink Stick. He was looking over the wall and
saw Jodan turn someone into a pig with this stick. So he stole it.
With this, you can turn the pigs back into humans.

Go south to the harbor. There is a ship ready to depart for Seaba.
Talk to the captain to set sail.

Items in Marinallen: Vitalin A, Fairy Medicine

The voyage to Seaba is uneventful (unless you brought Baltes. He
gets seasick!). Seaba is inhabited by fishermen. There, they talk
about a giant metal fish that's been scaring their fish away.
Perhaps it's the same as Marinallen's ghost ship.

They tell you that Fice, the village of the Dragon Knights, is to
the northeast, but some time ago, it was destroyed by monsters. It
was attacked twice. There's supposed to be an Aura Stone there,
too.

Items in Seaba: Kamidanomin, Icemarine, Crimson Ruby

Dark stands in his chamber with the remaining generals, Beauty and
Kaiser Blue. One after another, his generals have failed. Perhaps
leaving the search for the Aura Stones to them was a mistake. Both
the generals insist they won't fail.

Go northeast from Seaba to Fice. This is where Luka came from.
There's not much left of it. The old man at the entrance tells you
that Fice was attacked twice by monsters. The first time, Doan
came and killed all the Dragonbirds. The second time, a giant
metal monster named Kaiser Blue came out of the sea and stole the
Aura Stone from Mount Drago.

There is a stone circle on top on the mountain. The baby Dragobird
comes to meet you there. One of the old Dragon Knights hears the
bird and comes to see. He is amazed that any are still alive. He
tells you of a legend. If you have the 6 Aura Stones, you can use
a special spell to transform the Dragobird. You already have 5, so
you just need to get the 6th from Kaiser Blue. The man says to
come to his hut because he has something for you. He gives you a
Spell Scroll. With this and the Aura Stones, the Dragobird should
be able to fly to the legendary floating continent.

Items in Fice: Fairy Medicine, Thunder Guard, Icemarine, Gold
Lizard Statue, Thunder Saber

Kaiser Blue now has the Aura Stone. Naturally, Doan wants a piece
of the action, and offers to take it to Dark. He says that since
he attacked Fice first, it belongs to him. Kaiser Blue says that
it's his fault for not realizing it was there. He sends Doan
runing. Now he just has to get the other 5 Stones.

Go back to Seaba the ship is ready to set off in search of the
ghost ship. Talk to the captain to leave. The ghost ship attacks
you and swallows the ship whole.

You find yourselves in the belly of the metal whale, Seamaster.
Everyone's okay, but your ship is wrecked, and Kaiser Blue now has
the Aura Stones.

Navigating around the Seamaster can get tricky, with the light
flickering on and off. It's a good idea to only move when the
light is on, so you don't miss anything or fall into a whirlpool.
The whirlpools are hard to spot until you're pretty close to them,
so go slow on the second floor.

Once you get to the main base, the lights stay on. Head south from
the stairs to get to Kaiser Blue. Like most of the sea monsters,
Kaiser Blue is weak against electricity. Beat him and get the Aura
Stones back.

Items in Seamaster: Biteproof Suit, Shell House, Icemarine, Plasma
Pack, Shell Staff, Kirara Ring, Thunder Guard, Great Sword

Dark is steaming mad. He threatens to send you to the bottom of
the sea. Beauty objects that the Aura Stones will be lost, too,
but he doesn't listen. He fires at the Seamaster and it starts to
sink.

At first, you don't know what to do. Then one of your friends
remembers about the escape pod on the other side of the ship. You
run to it. Everyone piles in. You fumble with the controls until
it launches.

Thinking you're dead, Dark tells Beauty to find the Aura Stones.

You didn't sink, but now you're adrift in the sea. You don't know
where you are, either. The Dragobird flies up and lands on the
pod. Maybe the bird is your way out. Now that you have all the
Aura Stones, you can use the spell the old man in Fice gave you.
Enter the spell written on the scroll. If you don't read japanese,
here is what to enter:
"CH"
"Do"- 4th row, 5th from left; then 7th row, 5th from right
"Ra"- 2nd row, 5th from right
"Go"- 2nd row, 5th from left; then 7th row, 5th from right
"Ra"- 2nd row, 5th from right
"Bi"- 6th row, 2nd from left; then 7th row, 5th from right
"Guu"- 2nd row, 3rd from left; 7th row, 5th from right; then
       7th row, 3rd from right
"Ra"- 2nd row, 5th from right
"END"

The Aura Stones glow and the bird shrieks, but it just passes out.
You wait through the night. The next morning, the bird wakes up.
It glows again, and is transformed! Everyone jumps on its back and
it flies away.

---16. The Floating Continent

I recommend bringing Rumiella and Baltes on this part.

To fly the Dragobird to the floating continent, press the A
button, then up on the directional pad. You land in the courtyard
of Kutomina castle. That's the only place the Dragobird can land,
because the winds on the floating continent are so strong. The
guard there is amazed that there are still Dragobirds capable of
flying here. He takes you to see the queen. The queen asks why
you've come, and you tell her the story. She says that Dark was
imprisoned by the queen of Kutomina 500 years ago. Now it would be
ag good idea to seal the Aura Stones so Dark doesn't get them. The
queen is certain that their seal, made by the ancients, can keep
Dark out. You give her the Aura Stones. She goes to seal them, and
asks you to wait.

The "queen" brings the Aura Stones to a laboratory- Dr. Doan's
labortory! The queen you saw was just a clone created by Doan. Now
he has the Aura Stones. Soon he won't need to fear Dark or the
Fire Shell Hero any more.

Now you can explore Kutomina. It seems that Kutomina's crown
prince, Cruz, disappeared without a trace 5 years ago, and the
queen has shut herself in her room ever since.

Dr. Doan is the castle scientist here, and apparently no one nows
what he's been up to on the surface. Unlike Spanner, Doan's camp
believes that robot only exist to follow orders. Doan's main focus
was creating clones. Although the queen hadn't approved of the
reaserch before, she recently started funding it exclusively.

Dr. Spanner also used to work here, but he left 5 years ago. He
had been researching how to build a robot with its own
consciousness. Even though the queen had supported his work
before, she stopped funding it soon before he left. You find his
diary in his lab. He was suspicious of Dr. Doan. Dr. Doan was
apparently trying to revive Dark, and Dr. Spanner was hoping he
wouldn't really be that stupid.

Although their science is advanced, they've lost much of the
knowledge their ancestors had, including how the device that keeps
the continent floating works. Several scholars study the ancients'
manuscripts in the library to try to recover their knowledge.

You find a Secret Book on one of the shelves in the library. Bring
it to the queen's room and put it on the bookshelf. A passage
opens. Maybe the queen went up there. The room at the top of the
stairs is empty, except for a giant mirror. You start to leave,
when you hear a voice coming from the mirror. The queen's face
appears in it. This is the real queen. Dr. Doan trapped her in
there and put a clone in her place. However, even though he has
the Aura Stones, they won't do him any good yet. They must be
placed in a specific spot for their power to be used. Neither Doan
nor Dark know where it is. The queen knows, which is why they shut
her in the mirror. That place is the temple to the west.

After you leave, one of Doan's bats emerges from a corner of the
room. Doan knows the secret location now, too. He calls his newest
creations, Super-Megalo, to stop you. Yes, it's Megaloking again,
but without his memory, or the warrior pride that Doan found so
annoying.

Items in Kutomina: 10000P, Rainbow Diamond, Mighty Arm, Crimson
Ruby, Magical Cube, Angel's Earring, Lady Suit, Fairy Medicine (2)

Leave Kutomina. Super-Megalo comes to stop you. Use electricity
magic and physical attacks against him. After he's beaten, you
wonder if this is really Megaloking. Before, he fought for honor,
but now seems like just a machine. Just before he explodes, he
comes back to his old self and curses Doan for taking his
memories. If you brought Baltes and Rumiella, Baltes wonders what
kind of fiend would erase the memories of his supposed comrade.
"Erasing memories...?" wonders Rumiella as she looks at Baltes.

Now you can go to the ruins. In order to order the bridge to the
ruins, you need to find the three robots. The first is in a cave
in the south, in the clouds. Go to the small ledge at the bottom
of the cave. Wait for the small cloud to come. Ride the cloud to
where the robot is. Take the robot back to the top of the cave and
it will put the first part of the bridge in place. The second is
in a cave in the east, in the clouds. To get to the third, take
the ladder to the clouds in the north, and circle around to the
west.

Some of the caves have warp runes. In order to use them, you have
to find both runes.

Items on the Kutomina map: Vitalin All, Master Breastplate,
Rainbow Diamond

When you get to the temple, the barrier around it is gone. Doan
must have gotten her before you. Inside, Doan sets the Aura Stones
into their places. He stops to gloat a little before setting the
last stone. He shouldn't have waited. Dark appears behind him.
Dark accuses Doan of betraying him, but Doan claims he was just
testing it to make sure it was safe. Dark demands the Aura Stone.
Doan doesn't want to die just yet, so he hands it over and leaves.
Dark prepares to set the last stone.

There is a warp point inside the temple that connects to the warp
point in Kutomina.

Go to the center of the temple. Keep in mind that you can walk
behind and under some walls here.

As you arrive, Dark is about to set the last stone. The machine
comes to life. It warns that its power takes the shape of the
user's inner soul, and whether it will save or destroy the world
depends on the user. A fiery white entity appears in the center of
the Aura Stones. It flies around the room, then merges with Dark.
You try to fight him, but he wins.

Items in Kutomina temple: Vitalin All, Omega Helm, Omega Shield
(need Ukkie), Magical Cube, Titan's Axe

Dark decides to try out his new power, and lets it loose on
Kutomina. The continent starts to break apart. The castle's
levitation device sputters and shuts down. It's going to fall!

Doan frantically rushes around his lab, trying to grab whatever he
can save. He tries to flee the castle, but someone is following
him. He says not to worry because Dark won't have a chance to kill
him. It's Gabro! Doan runs away, but the continent crumbles and
they fall. Gabro jumps across debris to get to Doan, but Dark
teleports them away before he can do anything. Dark tries to
teleport you and your friends away, but the Dragobird catches you
before he can. Dark fires a lightning bolt at the dragon,
scattering the three Shells.

Kutomina falls to the ground, and the sky darkens. Dark's castle
hovers over Shelldorado.

---17. Dark Zone

You wake up in Grangram. Go see the king. According to him, you've
been asleep for 3 months. The world has been shrouded in darkness
the whole time. You tell the king what happened on the floating
continent. The first order of business is to find the missing
shells, but you're worried about your missing friends. The kings
asks what's wrong. Pick the second option.

Doan wakes up in Dark's chamber. Thinking that Dark intends to
kill him, Doan begs for mercy. But Dark has other plans. He
brought him here so he could get rid of Gabro for him. Before
Kutomina fell, Dark teleported Gabro into another dimension, the
Dark Zone. Thinking he's been given a second chance, Doan gladly
takes the assignment and Dark teleports him to the Dark Zone.
However, there's no way out of the Dark Zone. Now he's gotten rid
of both the traitors.

Doan appears in the Dark Zone. He's mad that Dark has gotten more
powerful, but at least he can torment Gabro for a while. A shell
appears in front of him. He senses its power, and decides to take
it. If he can defeat Gabro and bring back this powerful shell,
more glory for him!

Elsewhere, Gabro appears. Doan appears in front of him and tells
him where he is. He says that the only way out is to solve the
riddles in the three areas of the Dark Zone.

The trees and fog in the Dark Zone hide paths and chests, so be
sure to check everywhere.

One of the missing characters is in the first area. After Gabro
finds him, Doan appears and opens the way to the next area.

Items in the Dark Zone, area 1: Vitalin A (2), Tiger Knuckle,
Vitalin All, Kamidanomin, Magic Fruit, Magic Breastplate, Again
Drop, Guard Knuckle

The next area is a snowy village. The family there was captured
and brought here by Dark (or Doan. It's not clear). Gabro is
enraged, and calls Doan a homosexual (really!).

The father, Poton, says he heard voices coming from the other side
of the wall, but can't find a way in. The mother, Mell, begs Gabro
to find a way for them to get back to the real world. Gabro
promises he will. As you leave the house, you hear an explosion.
Poton has finally made it to the other side of the wall. Gabro
goes in to look for him.

The cave inside is a maze of warp points. Follow the warp points
until you find Poton. He joins you. He says there's someone else
in the cave, and to save them, too. There's a locked door in the
NE. A carving next it says you'll need the Glowing Lamp to enter.
Poton says that he heard something about the Glowing Lap from
Mell.

Take Poton back to his family. As thanks, Mell gives you the
Glowing Lamp. Go back to the locked door. The lamp will light the
two candles, and the door will open. Another missing character is
behind the door.

Doan appears as you leave ands says to go back to the village to
find the warp point to the next area. True enough, there's a warp
point there, but Doan isn't going to let you go so easily. Gabro
demands to know what's so fun about watching people suffer. "All
of it", says Doan. He sucks Poton, Mell and Peter out of the house
and disintegrates them. Gabro tries to attack him, but he
teleports away.

Before going to Area 3, go in the house. There's a warp point
there leading to the treasure chest you couldn't reach before.

Items in Dark Zone, area 2: Red Muffler, Blue Muffler

Area 3 is none other than Crystal Castle. One of Gabro's former
underlings is there. Gabro knows it's just one of Doan's traps,
but he can't bring himself to kill him. The monster attacks
anyway. After you kill it, Gabro is even more determined to kill
Doan.

The last missing character is on the second floor.

Gabro's room is on the top floor. Sonia appears. Gabro knows it's
another trap because the real Sonia is dead, but still...

Of course, Sonia is really Doan in disguise. Gabro starts to
attack, but Doan shows him the Air Shell he found. Doan absorbs
power from the shell and attacks. Nevertheless, you beat him. At
last, Gabro has avenged Sonia.

Now you just need to get back to the real world. With the power of
the Air Shell, you should be able to do it. Everyone gathers
around the shell and concentrates. They end up at the Spring of
Judgement. Jalamar and her followers find them and take them back
to Kotai.

Items in Dark Zone, area 3: Fairy Medicine, Magical Cube, Panther
Suit, Again Drop, Killer Mask

---18. The Reunion

Back to Grangram castle. The rest of the characters arrive. Pick
who to take with you.

According to people in the castle, the falling continent broke a
hole in the ocean floor. The water from the inner sea drained into
the caves underneath. Ever since the world turned dark, people
have been running out of fuel for lighting. Some guy in a big
balloon supposedly sells fuel, but for an exorbitant price.

Items in Grangram castle: Princess Rod, Wonder Ring

Dark and Beauty wonder if the Fire Shell Hero will make it to
their castle. Beauty says he won't, because she's going to kill
him first. Dark decides to show off his power, and fire a
lightning bolt at Pantana.

You go to the Telepo-ship. Fortunately, it wasn't damaged, but its
memory was erased. That means you won't be able to warp to towns
again until to visit them again.

Start at Grangram. The people there are about to run out of
Photonoil, the fuel used in lighting. Jodan sells it, but he won't
sell to you if you disobey him. Jodan's gone from circus freak to
underworld boss, it seems.

Go to Longbridge. A man there asks you to take a letter to Tem in
Marinallen. The monsters are too strong for him to make it.

Cross the bridge and you'll see the monsters he was talking about.
Beauty is waiting there. She sends her monster to attack you and
leaves. Beat the monster and cross the bridge.

Dr. Spanner is waiting there. He asks if you saw the queen when
you went to Kutomina. When he finds out she's trapped in the
mirror, he blames himself for running away. 5 years agom he heard
Dark and Doan talking to the queen. They demanded to know about
the Aura Stones, but she refused to tell them. Doan sealed her in
the mirror, and said that she'd stay in the mirror the rest of her
life if she didn't tell them. When she still refuses, Dark says
he'll just have some fun with the prince, instead. Dr. Spanner
runs to Doan's lab and finds the prince. He finds the ancient
manuscript on Doan's desk. Doan enters. Dr. Spanner grabs the
manuscript and runs. After telling his story, Dr. Spanner asks you
to come to his lab.

Go see Dr. Spanner. He's found where Kutomina is. He managed to
pick up electric waves coming from his old lab. Unfortunately,
it's in the middle of what used to be the inner sea. You'll have
to find a way to get down there.

Go through Salaam and Kimoi to Kotai. When the inner sea
disappeared, part of the land sank, too, making Mukabi and Galahar
inaccessible. Jalamar has refused to submit to Jodan, so he
refueses to sell Photonoil to Kimoi and Kotai. Go see Jalamar. She
says your friends just left for Marinallen. She gives you a Priest
Medal, thinking it will help.

Go to Marinallen. A woman runs up to you as you enter. She takes
you to the inn, where your friends are waiting. Gabro gives you
the Air Shell and joins the team.

---19. Jodan's Compound

Marinallen has changed much. Jodan and his gang have taken over
the town, making a haven for thieves and pirates. There is
supposed to be an underground passage in Marinallen that will let
you get to the sunken towns, but it's on Jodan's side of the town.

Go see Tem and give him the letter. In it, his father says he's
thinking of exploring one of the holes made by the falling
continent. He's heading for a cave west of Mukabi. As thanks, Tem
shows you a secret passage leading to Jodan's compound.

There a pub in the compound called "Money Makes the World Go
Round". You can become a member of the Gold Club for the bargain
price of 99999P. If you don't, the patrons won't give you the time
of day. If you do, they'll kiss ass. Plus, you'll get a Gold
Badge. One of the men in the pub is looking for better dancers. As
it happens, Audrey, the dancer you met on Nycalo Mountain, is in
Marinallen's pub. Tell her about the dancing stage in Jodan's pub
and she'll give you a Rainbow Diamond.

There is an arena in a room behind the pub. A new round is
starting as you walk in. The opponent is Jodan's right-hand-man,
Bearrider. The prize for this round is a strange shell that fell
to the ground with the floating continent. It's the Water Shell!
Only one character can fight in the tournament, so pick one. He
doesn't use any magic, but you'll need someone with good physical
defense. Bearrider gives you the Water Shell and tells you to come
to Jodan's room later and he'll introduce you.

Go through the tunnel. You'll come to 2 almost-identical rooms.
Take note of what you see there. The Jodan minion by the door will
make you answer a question about the room before he'll let you
through. He asks what was different between the rooms. The answer
is the size of the flowers (middle answer). Both times I tried, he
asked the same question, but there might be others.

Once out of the tunnel, go through the door to the left of the
archway. On the second floor is another minion with a question
about the previous room. He asks either how many of something
there were. There were 7 columns, 16 jars and 21 barrels.

Once through this building, you can go unlock the door between the
compound and the rest of Marinallen. There's also a weapon store
and an item store, but the weapon store won't sell to you just
yet.

The docks and warehouses are to the south. Get the Pirate Glasses
from one of the warehouses.

Go back through the archway, to the building south of the tracks
in the ground. Now that you have the Pirate Glasses, the secret
passage inside will be visible. Go through and search the barrel o
the other side of the building. Part of the building will move
along the tracks, revealing a door.

The door leads to Jodan's mansion. Follow the hidden passage tothe
left and up the stairs. Question time again. The question is
random.

In case the rug didn't make it obvious, the next room is Jodan's.
He says he uses his balloon to float into the holes and mine
Photonoil. Since he's the only one who can get the Photonoil,
Shelldorado is as good as his. You say you want to borrow the
balloon, but he refuses. He calls Bearrider to kill you. This
time, he calls monster to help him, but they're pretty weak (if
you have Baboo, you can probably kill them all in one blow). After
you beat Bearrider, Jodan runs away. He boards his balloon and
floats to his new base, Kutomina.

Dark has been watching. Dark wonders if he can use Jodan. Beauty
thinks he's too weak, so Dark decide to make him stronger. Dark
turns some people in Galahar into jewels and tells Beauty to give
them to Jodan. He's going to be busy for a while and doesn't want
to be disturbed. Beauty asks why. Dark says he's discovered
another dimension called Earth and intends to make it his next
target. He needs to research how to get there.

Go through Jodan's room and out the other side of the mansion. Go
into the house by the dock. Take a good look at the room with the
two olls. It's question time again. The question is random.

Items in Jodan's compound: Crimson Ruby (3), Vitalin A (2), Blood
Knuckle, Panther Suit, Icemarine (2), Thunder Stone (2), Mega
Topaz (2), Kamidanomin, Pirate Glasses, Mirage Knife, Omega Helm,
Magical Cube, Reparamin, Softal, Dragon Wing, Telepo-stone, Rough
Diamond (2), Again Drop, Omega Shield

The stairs lead down to what used to be the sewers. Once you exit
the sewer, go west to find Galahar.

---20. Travelling on the seabed

There's not much left of Galahar. Most of it was destroyed by the
meteorites. Recently, several people were sucked into black holes
that suddenly appeared.

Go west from Galahar to get to the remains of Mukabi. The lake has
dried up, and the stairs in it are now accessible. Go down the
stairs to get to the sea bottom.

Items in Mukabi and the tunnel: Throwing Knife, Rough Diamond

Go south from Mukabi. The lighthouse has also sunk, but you can
climb up it to get to Lampa. You can now get into the storeroom
that was blocked off before.

Items in Lampa: Rainbow Hat, Light Helmet

Go east from the lighthouse until you get to a cave. You pass by
the giant hole, but unfortunately there's no way to get down from
here. The cave leads to the Monkey Cave. Go down the north stairs.
From there, head southwest to Seaba.

There are many holes near Seaba. Someone saw a strange yellow
light fall into one to the east.

Items in Seaba: Strange Shell

Keep going west. There is a shipwreck that's been converted into a
hotel. Several people have come to see the giant hole.

Items in Shipwreck Hotel: Thunder Stone

Go into the cave near Lampa, through Rumiella's teacher's house,
and down the cave on the other side of the island. Eventually,
you'll reach a passage going underground.

---21. Underground

One of Beauty's underlings, Red Baron, tells her you've found the
passage. She tells him that Dark is busy researching how to get to
Earth, and that they should deal with you without disturbing him.

You find a man collapsed near the entrance to the cave. You give
him some water. He introduces himself as Hack, an adventurer. But
lately, he's been missing his son, Tem. He decides to go back to
Marinallen, and tells you to come see him if you're ever there.
(If you do, he'll give you a Magician's Mustache).

Red Baron is waiting for you at the other end of the cave. Do not
use any fire magic or fire-based weapons, as they will heal him.

After beating Red Baron, you can go to the underground caverns. To
the east is Jodan's mine. He's captured some of the natives and
forced them to work in the mine.

Items in the mine: Rough Diamond, Air Staff, Crimson Ruby, Star
Knife, Mega Topaz

The underground dwellers' village is east of the mine. The design
on the rock in the center sure does look familiar, doesn't it?
Talk to the village elder in the north room. He's happy to
surface-dwellers other than Jodan, and invites you to play the
Fire Altar Game. The game is run by two underworlders named Cont
and Roller (ha ha ha). See the mini-game section for details of
the game.

Items in the underground village: Frying Pot, Holywater Armor

Go to the south end of the cavern and go down into the water.
Check the waterfalls. Some have items hidden in them or doors
behind them. Go through the cave at the north end of the pool to
get to the castle. When you arrive, the balloon takes off. Jodan
escapes again, but at least you found Kutomina again.

Items in the caverns: Rainbow Hat, Jewel Short Sword, Magical
Cube, Shadowdancer, Fairy Medicine, Guard Knuckle

---2. Kutomina revisited

As you enter, one of the queen's ministers runs to tell you that
the queen has been kidnapped. Jodan thought that a person inside a
mirror was an unusual enough creature to add to his collection.
Fortunately, the Dragobird is in the castle. If you can free it,
you can go after the queen.

Go to the back of the castle. Dark appears. He tells you that he's
found the link between Earth and Shelldorado. It's the Fire Shell.
Since the dawn of time, Shelldorado has existed at the far reaches
of the dimensions, with the Fie Shell as the only way to reach it.
He offers you a deal- help him and you can rule both Earth and
Shelldorado together. Naturally, you refuse. Dark decides to take
the shell by force, then. He gathers the dead bodies of
Megaloking, Mushking, Phantom Queen, Kaiser Blue and Doan, and
fuses them together into a new monster, Neo-Doan. It's all the
annoyance of the first five boss monster combined. The main thing
to worry about is Phantom Queen's Ghost Drive attack, so bring a
lot of Panaceas and such. Use fire magic to beat it.

Beauty isn't at all happy with how Dark treated her comrades. Dark
doesn't care what she thinks, and warns her that she could end up
just like them.

Doan's room is to the right. His diary is there. In it, it tells
how he went to the fortress where Dark was sealed, hoping to
unlock the secrets of the Ancients' technology. He figured that if
he awakened Dark, he would be so grateful that he would gladly
tell everything he knew. Unfortunately for him, Dark wouldn't be
content to follow Doan, and threatens to kill him. Doan, being a
consummate suck-up, begs for his life and promises to be his
servant.

Jodan's room is above the lab. The pictures on the wall have
switches under them. Flip the left, middle, right and left
switches, and the door to the chest will open. It contains the
Shackle Key. Go up the ladder and flip the switch (the panel turns
red).

Go up the stair in the tower on the left side (bring Baltes and
Rumiella for a neat side-story event). Flip the switch at the top
of the tower. With both switches activated, the bridges on either
side rise. The bridge to the right leads to some treasure.

Go the the left tower and ride the elevator up. You won't be able
to ride it down for now. Go to the tower in the north and climb
the ladder (walk behind the elevator shaft). Flip the switch. The
elevators can now go down.

Take the elevator down, then go east until you enter a large
tower. The door on the first floor there is locked. Go up the
stairs. Take note of the where the flowers and vases are on the
second floor. The candlesticks on the third floor are arranged in
the same formation. Light a fire in the same places where there
were flowers. If you're right, the door will open.

Go down the stairs and west through the corridor to the elevator.
Going down will take you back to Doan's lab if you want to go heal
or save the game. For some extra loot, go back to the first two
towers and turn off the switches. The bridges will go back down.
Then go back through the elevator in Doan's lab and backtrack to
the tower on the west side of the castle. Take the elevator all
the way down. With the bridge down, you can get to the door.

Take the elevator up and go up the stairs. The Dragobird is on the
roof. You'll need the Shackle Key to free it, so if you don't have
it, go get it from Jodan's room. You free the Dragobird and it
flies out of the hole and chases after Jodan's balloon.

Items in Kutomina castle: Shackle Key, Holywater Shield, Goddess
Tiara, Goddess Shield, Ancient Sword, Air Robe, Rainbow Diamond,
Magical Cube, Lion Armor, Magician's Mustache, Shadowdancer, Mega
Topaz, Star Knife, Holywater Helmet, Aura Helmet, Sun Lamp, Aura
Shield, Hydra Armor

Jodan runs around his room in a panic. He's out of good minions,
and he knows he can't win by himself. Just then, he hears a voice
offering him help. Beauty appears. She gives him the jewel that
Dark made from the people sucked into the black holes. Jodan
accepts it gratefully, but asks why she wants to help him. Beauty
says she just wants to get rid of the Fire Shell Hero, and
suggests that Dark might let Jodan rule Shelldorado if he
succeeds.

Just then, your party bursts in. Jodan is confident that he can
beat you with the power Beauty just gave him. He threatens to
break the queen's mirror, but he's just bluffing. This time, don't
bother using magic or elemental weapons against him, as he seems
to be resistant to all of it. When I fought him, he didn't seem to
have any particular attacks, either, though.

Jodan swoons and passes out. You go to check on the queen. But
Jodan was bluffing again. He fires his pig spell at you. You
dodge, and the spell bounces of the mirror, hitting Jodan! He's
finally gotten a taste of his own medicine.

You ask the queen how to free her from the mirror. She says Dr.
Spanner might know. You bring the mirror to Tontace to see Dr.
Spanner. Dr. Spanner fiddles with the mirror for a bit and it
disappears. The queen is free! She explains that the power Dark
has now is something the Ancients found by accident at the far
reaches of time. You won't be able to break his seal and enter the
fortress as you are now. Supposedly, there is something called an
Aura Crystal in Kutomina. The 4 shells are probably made of the
same substance as the Aura Crystal. Once you find the Earth Shell,
come see the queen again, and she'll help you find the Aura
Crystal.

From now on, the circus balloon will be at Marinallen. Cole is
running the circus now. The act is the same as when Jodan had it,
but this time the pigs are real pigs, not transformed humans. One
of Ukkie's monkeys is hiding near the tent.

---23. The path to Dark's Fortress

To get to the undeground again, have the Dragobird try to land in
one of the holes in the ground. Go into the hole east of Seaba. A
cavedweller there has found the Earth Shell (though he tries to
deny it at first).

Go see the queen in Tontace. She gives you the Aura Crystal. It
combines with the four shells to form the Combo Shell. With this,
you should be able to break through Dark's barrier.

Ride the Dragobird to Dark's fortress. It can't fly to the
fortress itself because of the strong winds. It lands on a ledge
below the fortress. You'll have to walk the rest of the way.

Go to the entrance and use the Combo Shell. The Shell Dragon
appears and breaks the barrier. The Shell Dragon then joins you.
You can now summon the dragon during a battle.

Beauty runs to Dark's chamber in a panic and tells him you've
infiltrated the fortress. Dark isn't worried. He has a secret
weapon- he's found the way to Earth. With Earth in his power, you
won't be able to do a thing.

Climb up the cave. One of Dark's monsters is waiting near the top.
No, it's not Sonia, even though it does look like her. It's
vulnerable to lightning and light. After beating her, go across
the bridge and ride the elevator up. You exit through a hole in
the wall into Dark's Fortress itself.

Items in the cave to Dark's Fortress: Earth Helmet, Magical Cube,
Insect Edge (need Andre), Fairy Medicine (3) (Need Ukkie+7)

---24. Dark's fortress

Go outside. The Telepo-ship is there, with Dr. Spanner and the
queen. Dr. Spanner tells you that you'll need to split up into 2
parties to get through Dark's fortress. When you're ready to go,
talk to him. Pick 8 characters and make two parties. Try to make
them as equal in ability as possible. Here's who I used: Party A =
Hero, Baltes, Robot, Rumiella; Party B = Baboo, Gabro, Shamuru,
Kupikupi.

From now on, I'll refer to the left side as Party A, and the party
on the right side as Party B. Move Party A up the stairs on the
left side and have them stand on the switch in front of the door.
Have party B do the same on the right side. The paths across the
chasm in the next room is identical for both parties, but it is
only visible on Party B's side. Move Party A the same as Party B.

Move both parties up the stairs and through the hallway past the
pots. In the rooms after the hall, look for bright spots in the
east walls for Party A, and the west walls. These lead to an
elevator shaft. The platforms move when one party stands on them.
Both platforms move at once. Have Party B stand on the ledge and
wait. Move Party A up the stairs. Go through the door in the east
wall and stand on the platform. The platforms move. Switch to
Party B and get on the platform. Move Party B off the platform at
the second floor. Get the treasure there, then go back to the
ledge. Move party A off the platform at the third floor. The
platforms move back to the second floor. Move party B onto the
platform, then off at the third floor. Move both parties north and
onto the large elevator platform. Once both parties have arrived,
the platform can move. Go up to go to the next section of the
fortress, or down to go back to the first level (remember, there's
a save point there).

Items in Dark's Fortress, part 1: Aura Bringer, Air Shield, Aura
Armor, Fairy Medicine

A hint: Equip an Aqua Guard, Kirara Rin, Blue Muffler, or anything
else that defends against water attacks on anyone capable of
wearing it for this section. Also, look for breaks in the tile
pattern on the metal floor. Stepping on certain tiles calls a
robot guard. It's not terribly difficult, but it can be irritating
if you're in a hurry.

Once at the next floor, have one of them parties (doesn't matter
which) go north and get the Goddess Staff. Move both parties up
the stairs. Look for doors in the side walls again.

Move party A to the first ledge. Move party B to the second ledge
and get on the platform. The platforms move. Move party A onto the
platform. Move party A off the platform at the second ledge and
get the treasure there. Move party B off the platform at the third
ledge. Move party A onto the platform, then off at the third
ledge. Go up the stairs and get the treasure, then move them onto
the second platform.

Have party B go back to the second ledge and ride the platform up.
Move them onto the second platform. Get off at the first ledge.
Get the treasure there, then go back to the ledge and wait. Move
party A off the platform at the second ledge. Get the treasure,
then go up the stairs to the elevator. Move party B onto the
platform, then off at the second ledge. Go up the stairs to the
elevator.

Take the elevator down to get to the chests you couldn't reach
before. Take the elevator up to the next section.

Items in Dark's Fortress, part 2: Goddess Staff, Vitalin All (2),
Shell House (3), Magic Fruit (2), Final Body, Star Knife, Graviton
Arm, Magical Cube, Fairy Medicine

Have both parties get into the tower-like elevators and ride them
down. Have party A go down the stairs to the east of the save
point. Defeat Golem 001 there to get the Meta-Oil A. Take party B
down their stairs, past the save point, into a room with two large
green capsules. On the way, there is a hidden door on the left
side of the first staircase. Look where there is a black bar going
across the ceiling. Defeat Golem 002 there to get the Meta-Oil B.

Take party A down the stairs to the west of the save point. There
is an old robot in the room at the bottom of the stairs. Use the
Meta-Oil on it. It comes back to life. It flips some switches and
the elevator track moves. Do the same with party B.

Take both parties back up the stairs and ride the tower elevators
again. They'll go up the new tracks to the central tower. Both
parties end up in the same room. You can take the elevator there
down to the beginning of section 3.

Items in Dark's Fortress, part 3: Beast King Shield, Goddess
Dress, Hellcatty, Shamuru Catsuit, Omega Lid, Star Knife, Magical
Cube

Take the elevator up. Beauty is waiting there. She says that Dark
is preparing to invade Earth, and has almost succeeded in opening
a portal between the dimensions. Naturally, you don't take too
kindly to this, but your friends hold you back. It's time to make
2 parties again. The hero's party will go after Dark, while the
second party will stay and fight Beauty. Just a hint: The team
fighting Dark will need to be able to attack with as many
different elements as possible.

The hero's team runs up the stairs. The tower crumbles behind you.
Dark has opened the portal between dimensions. The top of the
fortress breaks off and floats above it.

The second team fights Beauty. Beauty is weak against wind. They
beat her, but unfortunately, that's all they can do. Now they'll
just have to wait and hope your team succeeds.

Go up the stairs to Dark's chamber. The robot by the stairs will
heal you.

Dark offers to return you to Earth in exchange for the Fire Shell.
You hesitate. Dark decides to just take the shell by force, then.

The fight with Dark begins. The first form you fight is weak
against light. He casts Megadeath at every round.

After you beat this form, Dark has absorbed enough energy to
finally fight at full power. He transforms into a monster and
attacks again. This form is weak against fire, earth, bacteria and
light. He casts Megaburn and can absorb your MP.

After you beat him, Dark bemoans the failure of his plans for
ruling all the dimensions, and falls. Your job is over, and
Shelldorado will soon be back to normal.

Or not. The shining entity from the Aura Stone machine emerges
from Dark's body. It's taken the shape of Dark's inner self, so it
also wants tobring darkness and fear to every dimension. You'll
have to fight it, too.

This fight can be a bit tricky. The entity changes elements every
round. It goes Fire (red)->Water (blue)->Earth (brown)->Air
(green). So, you'll need to attack with the opposite elements,
Water->Fire->Air->Earth, in that order. For the first few rounds,
watch which of your characters move before the transformation, and
which move after. Have those that move before it transform attack
with the current round's weakness. Have the ones that move after
the transformation attack with the next round's weakness. Light,
electricity and bacteria don't do much good.

---25. Ending

After you beat it, the entity draws in all the power from the Dark
Zone it can, in a las-ditch attempt to keep Dark's ambition alive.
If Gabro wasn't in the party, he teleports in. He says that if the
Dark Zone's power is allowed to run wild like this, it could
create a vaccuum that would destroy the whole world. You don't
know how you can stop it, but Gabro does. Since he has the same
dark powers as Dark, Gabro can close the hole. He throws himself
into the hole and transforms his entire body into energy. Before
he disappears, Gabro wishes that if he's reincarnated, he wants to
be born into a normal house, with a mother and father. The hole
vanishes, and Gabro with it. Perhaps now Gabro can be with Sonia.

You jump out of the tower, and the Dragobird catches you. The
other party joins you. Dark's palace disintegrates, and the sky
turns bright again. You fly back to Grangram, where the knights
give you a hero's welcome. Your friends are waiting in the throne
room. The king, Basil, Dr. Spanner and the queen all come to
congradulate you. The king has prepared a feast in celebration
(much to Poyon's relief), and everyone goes to celebrate.

You and the Robot leave the party and go on the roof. You hear the
Shell-beast elder's voice saying that the time has come to return
to Earth. The other Shell-beasts come to say goodbye. Red light
from the Fire Shell surrounds you. The Robot pulls away. He can't
return to Earth with you. Since he's not a dog any more, there's
no place for him there. The light carries you away.

The credits roll, as you see some of what happens to your friends
(no text, so I don't need to translate). Among the scenes are Cole
shooting a new chapter of the Story of Love and Passion, starring
Jodan, and a rainstorm refilling the inner sea.

The Shell-beast elder senses that something is bothering you, so
he lets you see some of what happens to your friends in the
future.

Dr. Spanner is working on a new robot. If he succeeds, theRobot
will have a little brother (a pink one?). However, there seem to
still be some bugs. Dr. Spanner asks the Robot if he can analyze
his parts to see what he did wrong, but the Robot doesn't want to
be taken apart.

Gabro's soul goes to the Spring of Judgement. Shiragami can't let
him into Vahn Mountain because he isn't human. However, he can at
least let him see Sonia. Sonia tells Gabro she's proud of what he
did. But soon they both disappear.

Dr. Spanner has figured out how to restore Baltes to his original
form. Baltes (or Cruz, now) and Rumiella are getting married!
Jalamar is performing the ceremony. Baltes asks Rumiella why she
picked the name Baltes for him. Embarassed, Rumiella says it was
the name of a pet dog she had when she was little (bonk!).

You find yourself back in the park where it all began.

Congradulations! You have finished Daikaiju Monogatari 2!
