General game advice ----0. General Comments This file is best viewed using a fixed-width font. If you're looking for the answer to a specific question, but don't want to risk spoiling the rest of the game, check the "Frequently Asked Questions" section first to see if it's there. Spells are listed with the character who learns them, in the order they appear in the spell list. Characters learn spells depending on how many spells they cast, not leveling up. As cheap as Melazines are, there's no excuse not to go wild with the magic! You can save anywhere, at any time. There are foure types of items: Medicine, Item, Equipable and Special. The first three have a limit to the number of items you can keep. If you try to pick up an item and the category is full, it will only tell you you can't carry any more. Unfortunately, it won't tell you what the item is, or what category it's in! The "Trinea" item is a reference to another Yanoman game. I'll probably do a WT of that, too. ----I. Story 100 years ago, the demon king Haward was defeated by Materia, princess of Aretha and a magical being known as Doll. They used the power of three rings, the Gold Ring, Silver Ring and Bronze Ring. In the present day, a young girl named Ariel comes into possession of one of the rings... ----II. General game advice ---1. Game menus --A. Main menu Status: See the stats, equipment and status of a character Item: Opens a submenu to see/use your items Medicine: Healing items Item: Other useable items Special: Game event items Weapon/Armor: Equipable items Equip: Change a character's equipment Magic: Have a character use a spell Convo: Starts a conversation between the characters in your party. Good for when you've forgotten what to do next. System: Opens the System submenu: Save: Save the game Load: Load a saved game Reorder: Reorder the party Name: Change a character's name Config: Configure the sound, text speed and battle commands --B. Battle commands Sword icon: Attack with equipped weapon Staff icon: Use magic Shield icon: Defend Chest icon: Use an item Feet icon: Run away Flame icon: Breathe fire (only Fang has this) Ball icon: No command. Cannot be selected. ---2. Shop types --Inn: Sign says "INN". Stay here to restore HP, MP and status --Weapon shop: Sign has a sword. Buy weapons here. --Armor shop Sign has a shield. Buy armor, shields and helmets here. --Tool shop Sign has a candle. Buy useable items here. --Medicine shop Sign has a leaf. Buy medicine here. ---3. Status ailments Poison (doku): Gradually lose HP, DEF and SPD reduced. Venom (moudoku): More serious version of Poison. Petrify (sekika): Unable to move, but immune to enemy attacks. Curse (noroi): Effect changes every turn. Paralyze (mahi): Movement is difficult. ATC, DEF and SPD reduced. Unable to move some turns. Sleep (nemuri): Unable to move, DEF reduced. Cured whe attacks by an enemy. Tremor (kanashibari): Unable to move, DEF reduced. Illusion (genkaku): Harder to attack successfully. Confusion (konran): Unable to control actions. Attack enemies and friends. Silence (Chinmoku): Unable to use magic. Fear (kyoufu): MP gradually decreases. Blind (metsubushi): Very hard to hit successfully with weapons. Unconscious (kizetsu): Unable to move, DEF reduced more than Sleep. Cured when attacked. ---4. Monster Encyclopedia This keeps a list of all the monsters you've killed. You can see the image, basic stats, and Soul drop. Once you get this from Jack, you can open it by selecting the item in the Special Item menu. ---5. Battle system Monsters attack from four sides. You can only attack monsters on the side you are facing, but all can attack you. You can see the number and actions of monsters on other sides in the windows at the upper right of the screen. To face another side, press the L or R button. Irritatingly, it does not show how much damage you do. You can get an idea from the size of the bang, but that's it! You can tell approximately how much HP a monster has left by the color of its 'M' in the upper right windows. If it's an 'X' instead of an 'M', the monster has some status change, but it gives no indication about what. ----III. Characters ---1. Playable characters --A. Ariel The heroine of the story. Q: How do I tell how much damage an attack/spell does?
A: You can't really. If there are monsters on multiple screens,
   you can tell approximately how much HP they have left by the color of the
   'M'.

Q: How do I gain spells?
A: By casting them. The more spells you cast, the faster you learn more. It
   has nothing to do with levels.

Q: I keep changing direction when I try to examine something!
A: That's a feature, not a bug. When you hit a wall, you'll automatically
   change direction and keep going. If you want to examine something, stop
   just before hitting it.

Q: What do I do in the Western Desert?
A: First, talk to the man in the hut. Then, go SW to where there is a circle
   of cacti.

Q: Where is the dungeon key in Fort Warzak?
A: The guard in the horizontal hallway west of the first room has it.

Ariel awakes from a dream, in which an invading army destroys a castle. She's
had the same dream for a while, and doesn't understand it. But there's no use
staying in bed, so she gets up. Go talk to Seara in the next room.

Today is Ariel's 10th birthday and Seara has a present for her- a Gold Ring. She
says it belonged to Ariel's mother before she died and warns her not to lose it.
She then gives her a Bag of Herbs and tells her to take them to Arma in Nineveh.
Ariel is surprised that she's letting her go alone, but Seara says she's ready.
Seara gives her a Potion A and Melazine A for the journey. Nineveh is directly
south of them. Be sure not to go near Mount Etna.

Exit the house and go south past the convenient Exit signs until you get to the
field map, then Nineveh is just south of the forest.

Go see Arma in the Medicine shop and give her the Bag of Herbs. She invites you
in for tea, handy since the inn won't let you stay there alone. She talks about
how one of the village boys, Jack, has gone missing in Forsetto Forest. They ask
if Ariel knows anything, but she doesn't. Arma gives Ariel a Red Suitcase to
give to Seara, and some medicine for the trip.

--B. Dwarf's Village

Go back to the forest. About halfway in, a little Dwarf bumps into you and drop
its suitcase. It picks up yours by mistake and runs off. Chase after it. Follow
it to a clearing in the forest. The dwarf isn't there but you fall through a
sinkhole into an underground tunnel.

You've fallen into the Dwarf's tunnel. They came from the Fairy Country in the
south, but their king has ordered them to dig this tunnel. You find the dwarf
you bumped into, named Piruru, in a room to the west. Ariel asks for her
suitcase back, but the dwarf doesn't have it. The "king" does. This "king" is a
boy named Jack. He found Piruru's hat in the forest. Without their hats, they
can't use magic and they're helpless. Ariel promises to get the hat back. Piruru
decides to join you. Once Piruru joins, you can open the treasure boxes.

Talk to Pepetto in the NW. If Piruru is with you, he'll let you through. You
find Jack sitting on a throne. Ariel demands the hat back, and Jack refuses. She
tells him how worried everyone in Nineveh is, but he doesn't care because he's
king here. He uses the hat's magic to call some Ents to fight you. Ariel's
Airpose A spell should be powerful enough by now that it kill them in one blow.

Ariel snatches the hat off Jack's head before he can call any more monsters.
With the hat returned, Jack is powerless and Piruru calls the rest of the Dwarfs
to finish him off. Ariel intervenes and begs them to spare him. They agree and
she gets Jack to apologize.

But what about the suitcase? Piruru gives it back. Ariel hopes they'll meet
again, but Piruru says they won't. They're leaving for another land. He gives
her a Green Egg to remember him by and sends her and Jack to the surface. Ariel
wakes up in the forest, wondering if what just happened was a dream. She wakes
Jack and he returns to Nineveh. Go back to Seara's house.

Seara's mad that you're late, and sends you to bed without supper. Before you
go, she asks about the egg. Ariel puts it on the table, and it starts to move. A
little dragon hatches out of it! Ariel begs Seara to let her keep it. Seara
agrees, as long as Ariel takes care of it. Now what to name it? Seara suggests
Chucky, but Ariel likes the name Fang better.

---1. Beginning of the Journey
--A. Mount Etna
Ten years pass. Ariel, now grown up, has been sent to Nineveh again. Go back
inside and talk to Seara, and she'll give you a Elixir A, Potion A and Melazine
A.

You find an old man at the forest edge. He says he's lost and asks the way to
Mt. Etna. Ariel gives him directions, but he asks her to lead him there. If you
say no, he'll just keep asking, so say yes.

Go north, then west to Mt. Etna. Once there, Ariel is worried. Seara told never
to go near Mt. Etna. Fang says it's no big deal, as long as Seara doesn't find
out. The old man gets impatient.

Go north to Mt. Etna. In front of a cave, the man finally decides to rest. He
apologizes for dragging her on this trip and notices Ariel's ring. He asks to
see it. Ariel shows him. He confirms that it is indeed one of the Rings of
Aretha. Ariel doesn't know what that means.

Fang notices something wrong about the man. He says it's too late. They're far
enough away that Seara won't notice him. He blasts Ariel away. Fang tries to
fight, but gets blasted, too. They're okay, but the cave collapses, trapping
them. Outside, the man gloats that the Ring of Aretha is now his. Fang tries to
digs through the wall, but it's no use. You'll have to find another way out.

Go farther into the cave, and you find a huge crystal. Fang wonders if he can
eat it because it looks like candy. Of course he can't eat it. And it looks like
there's someone inside! Something shakes. Ariel wonders if it's an earthquake,
but it's the crystal. It shatters and the person inside comes out.

He introduces himself as Doll, but that's all he remembers. He doesn't remember
being in the crystal or why he was there. Ariel tells him what happened. Doll
thinks he can get them out.

Go back to the entrance. Doll casts a Fireball and opens the entrance back up.

Leave the mountain and go to Seara's house. It's been destroyed! There's no sign
of Seara. Fang tries to reassure Ariel that Seara wouldn't die so easily. This
must be the work of that old man. He did seem to know Seara. They need to find
him. But how can they find out where he went?

Ariel remembers that he called her ring the Ring of Aretha. Doll recognizes the
name from somewhere but can't place it. Maybe someone in Nineveh would know
about it and why the man would want it.

--B. Nineveh
Items to find in Nineveh:

Go to Nineveh and talk to Ranzel, Arma's husband. He doesn't know about the Ring
of Aretha, but he has heard the name Aretha before. It's the name of an ancient
goddess of light. The village elder knows the rest of the story about Aretha.

Go talk to the elder, in the big house in the SW. According to the story, a long
time ago, the demon Haward brought darkness. Monsters plagued the land. Finally,
one girl stood against him. With her were a magic doll and a young warrior.
Together, they defeated Haward. From then on, the girl was known as Aretha,
goddess of light. The legend says she'll return to defeat Haward if he ever
comes again. Now, the Aretha Kingdom carries on her work. If you want to know
more than that, you'll have to go to the Aretha Kingdom itself, but it was
destroyed by the Vandal Empire. Aretha is still determined to go. Fang and Doll
decide to join her.

Go back and tell Arma what you learned. To get to the Aretha Kingdom, you'll
need a boat, and it's dangerous to go alone. She suggests you ask a friend of
hers to go with you. He lives in Listholm, which is close to Aretha Kingdom. He
just set out from Nineveh, but was heading for Santorio, a harbor town where you
can catch a boat. You may be able to still catch him. His name is Murdoch. Arma
gives you a letter for him.

Before you leave, go see Jack. He'll give you the Monster Encyclopedia.

---2. Journey to Aretha Kingom

Go south from Nineveh to Santorio. Sailors there are worried about Vandal Empire
ships seen to the east. It's only a matter of time before they come here.

You find Murdoch in the inn's tavern. Give him the letter and he joins. He can't
turn down a request from Ranzel and he's glad for the company.

Go to the ticket office. The ship is about to leave for Alvira. Buy a ticket for
50P and talk to the dockmaster. The boat sets off.

Along the way, Ariel fills Murdoch in on what happened. The boat's next stop is
Dale on Carmel Island. Murdoch has business there, so he wants Ariel to want in
town. Doll and Fang want to go explore the ship. Murdoch warns them not to fall
in. Ariel doesn't go with them. She'd rather ask Murdoch about the Aretha
Kingdom. Murdoch thinks she's being too impatient. She'll find out everything
she needs in time.

---B. Dale
The boat docks in Dale. Murdoch leaves to tend to business. Ariel and the others
decide to explore the town. In one of the houses, a man mentions a wizard
rumored to live on Mt. Koors, on the east of the island. Ariel wonders if it's
the wizard who stole her ring. Doll doesn't think it could be that easy, but
it's worth a look.

---C. Mt. Koors
Items to find:

Sil Sapphire

Go east from Dale to Mt. Koors. Climb the mountain to the cave at the top. It
fork in two. A village in Dale said that the wizard's house is down the left
path. But go down the right one first, and search the summit for the Sil
Sapphire.

Go down the left path and you'll come to a house. You hear voices inside. Doll
wants to charge in, but Ariel stops him because it's rude to barge in like that.
Doll argues that she shouldn't be concerned about being polite to someone who
stole from her, and they rush in, anyway.

Inside are Murdoch and the old wizard. It's not the one who stole Ariel's ring.
Oops, mistaken identity.

Ariel explains everything to Murdoch and the wizard, Wollace. Murdoch finds it
funny. Doll is embarassed. Wollace notices the Souls Ariel is carrying, and says
he can use them to make Mixed Forms. Mixed Form is an alchemy system for making
equipment from Souls. See the Mixed Form section above for a more detailed
explanation.

He has you try it. Select up to three types of Souls and the number of each and
make some stuff. 

It's time to get going. Go back to Dale and reboard the boat. It continues on to
Alvira.

There are rumors going around about the Vandal Empire. They say they destroyed
the Kingdom of Elucia.

Alvira is home to the famous Dr. Harrison, who can supposedly cure anything. His
hospital is in the SE corner. A woman from Estaranto, the capital, has come for
treatment, but is worried about her sister back in town. Harrison seems to be
missing some herbs for his medicines.

---E. Morble Forest

To get to Estaranto, you'll need to go through the Morble Forest, to the south.
Go through the forest to the cave. Near the cave exit, you find a green plant.
This is the Herbs Dr. Harrison was looking for. Take it.

---F. Estaranto
Go SE from the forest to Estaranto. It's a peaceful place, thanks to the elite
Royal Guard, but they've decided to stad against the Vandal Empire. Everyone
wants to be part of the Guard. The mayor's grandsons, Raphael and Michael have
joined the Guard and they have girls swooning.

You find Dr. Harrison's patient's sister in the house by the southern tool shop.
She sees the Herb and begs you to take it to Dr. Harrison.

A man on the second floor of a shop mentions that the old man living next to the
weapon shop knows how to turn stones into items. Talk to the old man after this
and he'll reveal that he's an alchemist.

Since you can't get into the castle yet, you might as well deliver the Herb to
Dr. Harrison. Go back through Morble Forest to Alvira and give Dr. Harrison the
Herb. Talk to the patient. She wants to thank you, but isn't in a position to,
so she tells you to talk to her sister in Estaranto.

Go back to Estarant and talk to the sister. She is overjoyed and gives you an
Elixir B in gratitude.

---G. Mt. Jura
Items to find:

Go east from Estaranto to Mt. Jura. Climb to the top. Murdoch stops you just
before the summit. There's a fight going on on ledge below. You watch the match
until one of defeated. Ariel wants to help him, and there may still be time.
Keep going and find a way to the ledge below. When the road splits, take the
cave entrance and you'll end on on the ledge.

Talk to the man. He's still alive, but only barely. He manages to give you a
Silver Knife and begs you to take to it someone. He passes away before he can
say the whole name, but it began with Ra.

You bury the man. Ariel doesn't know who to give the knife to. Murdoch says
they'll probably meet the person eventually, so just hang on to it for now.
Listholm is just ahead, so you should continue on.

---H. Listholm

When you enter Listholm, Murdoch suggests you go to his house before seeing the
rest of the city. It's the weapon shop near the entrance. Murdoch's assistant,
Matthews is manning the counter. He's glad to see Murdoch back. Murdoch leaves
the party to take care of some business. Until he's finished, you can explore
the city.

In the east side, a man named Count Darahyde tries to hit on Ariel, but Fang
puts a stop to it. People are worried about the number of recent shipwrecks, but
these seem to have been caused by pirates, not the Vandal Empire. Someone saw a
maneating giant in the nearby Kurdistan Forest, and they warn you not to go near
it. The sailors talk about a giant whale named Leviathan that swallows ships
whole.

Once you're done exploring, go back to Murdoch's house. You rest at his house,
then head to the docks. The Aretha Kingdom is on the other side of this sea.
Murdoch gives you a ticket for the ship. Unfortunately, he can't continue on
with you. He warns you to be careful. Aretha Kingdom is now part of the Vandal
Empire, and they're bad news. You board the boat and it sets off.

---I. Port Mercia
Items to find:

The boat lands in Port Mercia. The town is infested with Vandal Empire soldiers,
and the people aren't happy about it. All the young men have been taken to
Baluga Castle and forced to become soldiers. They warn you not to be heard
asking about Aretha. The town's harbor shop also has the Weapon and Medicine
shop.

One boy knows about the Aretha Temple, and says it's haunted. It's in the forest
to the east.

---J. Aretha Temple
Items to find:
500 pera

Head east to the clearing in the forest. The ruins of the Aretha Temple is
there. The marking on the carpet looks suspiciously like the mark on Ariel's
forehead.

You find a priest there, who is surprisingly not a ghost. Ariel asks him about
the Aretha Ring. He says they used to be kept in this temple, but during the
war, they were split up and sent elsewhere. Noone knows where they are now.
Ariel is surprised that her mother's ring is such an important item.

The priest hears this and thinks she has the ring. He demands she return it.
Obviously, they can't, but he tries to take it, anyway. He ditches the priest
costume and blasts everyone.

----3. Search for the Ring

---A. Baluga Castle
Items to find:

When Ariel awakes, she's in Baluga Castle, in the throne room of Baron Zaleos.
The Baron demands the ring, too, but Ariel still can't comply. Not satisfied
with the answer, the Baron tells the guards to throw her in the dungeon. Ariel
demands to know where Fang and Doll are. Doll is nearby, but he's not himself.
He doesn't remember Fang, and seems to be under the Baron's control. Ariel is
taken to the dungeon.

A man named Duke Zafan come to see Zaleos. He's an envoy from the emperor, who
wants to know how "that" plan is going. Zaleos reports that Baronet Basim has
subdued Elucia. Marquis Barbados will be taking command. What's left is to find
all the Aretha Rings. Zafan leaves to join Basim and takes Doll with him.

Meanwhile, Ariel is still stuck in the dungeon. Someone breaks through the wall.
It's a woman named Marie, and she tells Ariel to come with her. Go through the
tunnel and through the sewers. Find a secret passage in the west to get a Magic
Robe. Head to a room in the SW. Marie yells for someone, and a robe drops from
above. Climb up it.

In the room above, you meet Minea and Celia. Ariel asks who they are, but Celia
says they can't say, yet. But if Ariel is the real successor, they'll meet
again. For now, Ariel must leave the country. The Empire forces are searching
for her. Celia does tell you that the ring you're looking for is in the Sand
Castle in the Bangi desert before they disappear.

You're back in the Aretha Temple. But when you try to leave, the fake priest is
there waiting. He attacks Ariel, but before he can kill her, someone intervenes.
The man fights of the fake priest. Ariel doesn't know where to go from here, but
he says he'll take her someplace safe. He wasn't heading anywhere in particular,
so it's no trouble. His name is Kyle. He suggests they go to Haroharo City in
the north.

---B. Haroharo City

Head NW to Haroharo City. Kyle suggests they rest up and ask around about Fang.

Here, too, people are missing, having been taken to Baluga Castle.

There's a statue in the center of town. It's old and the writing is hard to
read, but it's of a person named Keena. Ariel thinks Keena might be a woman, but
can't tell. The doghouse next to it is home to the "HP Recovery Dog", according
to the sign. It's old and not in use.

The owner of the Medicine shop's daughter, Mim found a strange winged lizard.
Maybe it's Fang! Go talk to the medicine shop owner. She says Mim's in the
house, and you can find him through the back door. Go around the building and
find the hidden door in the back.

Talk to Mim. The lizard really is Fang! He thought Ariel was dead! But Fang
can't leave. He promised Mim he would stay with her. Ariel is sad, but glad that
he's at least okay. She runs out, crying. Kyle follows her.

As you leave the city, Kyle asks what Ariel intends to do. She says she'll
return to Listholm, for now, but doesn't know how she's going to get on the boat
with all the Empire soldiers around. Kyle says he'll think of something.

At the last moment, Mim and Fang run up. Mim apologizes for being selfish and
asks you to take Fang with you. She doesn't want to selfish, she wants to be a
good girl. Maybe if she's a good girl, her father will be able to come home.
Awww.

---C. Ship voyage
Go back to Port Mercia. Kyle says to do exactly as he says, so that the soldiers
don't see them. They should get to the warehouse first.

Go to the far righ warehouse, and examine the different-colored crate. Kyle
pulls it open. They can hide in there, and stw away on the ship. Ariel isn't
sure about being in such a closed space, and it's dark too, but they make do.
Eventually, dockhands come and load the crate on the ship.

They hide in the cargo bay, sleeping in the crate. Ariel doesn't exactly like
this lifestyle. Fang goes to find some food, but someone sees him, and sailors
come. They take you to the captain. The sailors want to throw you overboard, but
then Count Darahyde comes to see what the commotion is. He recognizes Ariel from
Listholm and waxes poetic about her beauty until everyone is confused. He offers
to pay the captain for your passage, but the captain still wants to make an
example of you. Darahyde ups his offer to triple fare and that finally convinces
him.

Darahyde is still smitten and asks if Ariel will stay with him a while. She
agrees and the go to the lounge. Kyle and Fang stay on the deck. They don't like
that guy.

---D. Listholm
The boat arrives in Listholm. Ariel says she's going to talk to Murdoch and ask
him about the Bangi Desert.

Go talk to Murdoch at his house. Ariel asks him about the Sand Castle. Murdoch
says it's in an oasis that sometimes appears in the desert, supposedly, but he's
never seen it in person. There's no way to predict where or when it will appear,
either. But Wollace, the wizard on Koors Mountain, may be appear to use
divination to find it.

Murdoch has found a weapon that Fang can equip and gives it to him.

---E. Back to Koors
Backtrack to Koors. Since you probably don't have an Angel Feather, you'll have
to walk. On the way there, stop at Estaranto. The shops by the front have some
new items.

Also, remember the Silver Knife? There are two brothers, Michael and Raphael,
who joined the Royal Guard. Michael hasn't been seen in a while and the man who
gave you the knife wanted you to give it to someone whose name started with Ra.
Unfortunately, Raphael isn't there. Where is he?

Go through Morble Forest to Alvira. Buy a ticket to Dale for 700 pera, then head
to Mt. Koors.

Talk to Wallace. What you want is easy enough. Wollace does his reading. The
Sand Castle will appear today! But you'll never make it in time! Wollace says he
can send you to Listholm with his magic. He hasn't tried it in a while, but it
should work. Luckily, it does and you end up in Listholm.

---F. Sand Castle

Go north from Listholm, into the desert. You should find a blue oasis. Enter it.
Follow the convenient arrow sign to the Sand Castle.

You find Ariel's ring in a room on the top floor, as well as a similar one, the
Silver Ring. You heard once that there three Aretha Rings, so there must be
another one somewhere.

Another woman barges in, claiming the Silver Ring is hers. She says her name is
Leira, and the man with her is Zeihart. She also demands to know where the old
man who stole the ring is. Kyle gets mad, but Ariel talks him down. She asks why
Leira has the ring.

Before Leira can answer, the old wizard, Ephraim, appears. He is enraged to see
the rings stolen (re-stolen) and sends monsters to attack while he escapes.
While you fight them, Ephraim runs away, and Leira has gone after him. Fang
remarks that Leira looked a lot like Ariel. The others agree (Darahyde thinks
they were both equally beautiful).

So now that the ring is returned, Fang wants to go back to Nineveh. Ariel, on
the other hand, wants to find the remaining ring.

----4. Journey to Sacred Mountain

---A. Listholm.
Go back to Listholm. Darahyde has had enough adventure and leaves the party.
Fang is glad to see him go. Go see Murdoch. He lets you rest in his house.

In the middle of the night, a voice wakes Ariel. She doesn't recognize the
voice. It tells her to listen closely. There's a mountain called Sacred Mountain
far to the west. She needs to see the Elemental Dragon living there. There, she
will learn her true destiny. The voice gives her a Pendant and tells her to give
it to Elemental Dragon. It will be hard, but she mustn't lose heart. Everyone's
future is depending on her.

The next morning, Ariel tells everyone about the voice. Murdoch knows about this
mountain. It's in the far west, in the Fairy Country. To get to Fairy Country,
you'll have to go through the Kurdistan Forest and Western Desert.

---B. Kurdistan Forest

Kurdistan Forest is SW of Listholm. A ways through, you find a beast stuck in a
net. Kyle wants to ignore it and move on, but Ariel isn't sure. You're given a
choice whether to help or not, and of course, you want to help. Pick the second
option. Kyle climbs the tree and releases the net. The beast just runs away.

Continue through the trees. In another clearing, you find some fruit lying on
the ground. Fang runs off to get it (he loves bananas), and the others chase
after him. But it's a trap! A cage drops from above. Then you hear the footsteps
of something very big approaching.

It's the man-eating giant. He takes you back to his cave and locks you up.
Finally, a delicious catch. He ponders how to cook you. Examine the cage bars a
few times. Eventually, the beast you helped comes running. He can talk! His name
is Torasako. He opens the cage, but warns you to be quiet, or the giant,
Daidarobok, will wake up and hear you. He leads you out of the cave and through
the forest. Don't worry about all those treasure boxes- you'll come back later.

Head west until you reach the exit sign. You should be safe now.... or not!
Daidarobok was waiting for you! You'll have to fight him.

Once you beat him, Torasako asks where you're going. When he hears you're
heading for Fairy Country, he begs you to take him with you. He's always dreamed
of living in Fairy Country. Of course, Ariel agrees.

You can go back and get the treasure boxes in the giant's cave now.

---C. Western Desert

The Western Desert is just to the west of the forest. Go to the oasis in the
center. There is a travelling salesman there, if you need to stock up.

There is also the remains of a stone circle. There are places on the stones to
put jewels. One of them is the Sil Sapphire, which you should have found on Mt.
Koors. Come back here when you find the others.

Go to the hut at the south end of the pond. Ariel asks the man inside about the
Fairy Country. He does know about it, but says there's no way for you to get
there. This desert is the boundary between the human world and the fairy world.
That's why there's a desert in the middle of the forest- so humans can't get
through. The way to Fairy Country is hidden by a barrier. The man says you can't
get rid of it, but if you get an Amber Lens from the Sand Ants, you may be able
to see through it.

But where are the Sand Ants? Head SW from the hut to a circle of cacti. Torasako
hears something strange coming from the ground. It's quicksand! Fang manages to
fly free, but the others are sucked in.

They land in a tunnel. It looks like this is lair of the Sand Ants. You've
landed in the city of the Red Ants. They're at war with the Blue Ants. There are
shops there, but no one will sell to you. One gives you a hint- "Right of the
Entrance".

Go see the Queen in her throne room. She has the Amber Lens, but refuses to give
it to you. One of the soldier ants whispers something to her. She then says that
she'll give you the Amber Lens if you do something for her. She gives you a
Black Box and tells you to take it to the Queen of the Blue Ants.

Talk to one of the Soldier Ants, and he'll give you a Bronze Medal. With that,
the shopkeepers will agree to do business with you.

Where is the Blue Ant city? Go to where you dropped in, and examine the rocks to
the SE. A passage opens up, leading to the Blue Ant City.

One of the blue ants is an alchemist!

Remember the ant's hint? Walk through the wall to the right of the city entrance
to get to the Queen's room. Ariel presents the box to the Queen. When it's
opened, antlions jump out! Fight them off!

Ariel explains things to the Queen, and the Queen believes her. The Queen asks
her to do her a favor now. Ariel refuses, not wanting to get involved in their
war. The Queen appreciates her honesty and offers to send you back to the
surface. Ariel says there's still something they have to do here. The Queen
gives her a Agate Orb. Use that and you can get back to the surface.

Leave the blue ant city. Ariel wonders how they'll get the Amber Lens. Kyle has
an idea and says to go see the red ant queen. Do so. Kyle says they did as she
asked and now asks for the Amber Lens. The queen refuses and tells her guards to
capture you. Kyle reminds her that they still have the Black Box and threatens
to open it if she doesn't give it to them. The queen complies. After they have
the Amber Lens, Kyle opens the box, anyway, revealing it to be empty. Ariel uses
the Agate Orb, and they are teleported to the desert.

Ariel isn't too pleased with Kyle's plan. She thinks it's just stealing. She
thinks the queen would have given it to them if they'd asked honestly. Kyle
thinks she's being naive. They argue until Torasako stops them. They have to
hurry, and besides, Fang is missing.

Go see the old man by the oasis. He uses the Amber Lens to make the Amber
Glasses. With these, you can see the way to Fairy Country. He hasn't seen Fang,
though. The entrance to Fairy Country is in the mountains to the NW.

---D. Mount Conlon

Go NW from the oasis to Mount Conlon. The crates are treasure boxes, so don't
miss them.

---E. Fairy Forest
Exit Mt. Conlon and spiral around the mountains to the Fairy Forest. The place
is a maze of teleporters. You'll need to pass through it to get to Sacred
Mountain, but first, you'll need the fairy elder's permission.

In one area, there's a cave. Inside the cave is a spring that will heal your
HP/MP if you drink from it.

Take the right warp from the cave, and you'll see three birds hoving above the
trees. Below them is another warp, but it's not working.

Go back to the cave and talk to the fairy there. He'll give you the Fairy Staff,
which activates the warp. Step on the warp under the birds, and the path to the
Fairy Village will open.

---F. Fairy Village

There are not only fairies but dwarves and Zoppies, here, too. A dwarf in a
green hat runs the shop. One of the fairies is an alchemist. There's also a
zoppie called Zoppile, who comes from somewhere called Rainbow Country.

Ariel's old friend, Piruru, lives in one of the eastern trees. He almost doesn't
recognize her, it's been so long. She tells him that a dragon hatched from the
egg he gave her, and he's surprised. He didn't actually know what it was- he was
told to give it to her by a shiny fairy he met in the woods. He doesn't know
why.

The elder is in the far east tree. Ariel tells him about her quest to see
Elemental Dragon, and he agrees to open the way to Sacred Mountain, but warns
that it's dangerous.

Exit the Fairy Village. There are now two warps outside. Take the new one.

---G. Sacred Mountain

Go SE to Sacred Mountain. In some of the caves, holes open up in the floor. Be
careful not to fall through them or you'll end up back at the beginning.

Near the summit, you find a switch on a cave wall. Press it. Torasako thinks he
heard something happen above and to the right.

The dragon's cave is at the top of the mountain. But there's no dragon there-
just the fairy elder. It turns out, he is Elemental Dragon. He doesn't have
enough power left to hold his real form, so he's disguised as a fairy. His power
is being sapped by the darkness creeping over the world. Kyle thinks he means
the Vandal Empire, but the elder can't tell anything with his power drained.
More importantly, he doesn't have enough power to grant Ariel's wish, but there
is a way to raise his power. Collect the four Dragon Essences, and he should be
able to recover.

One is on Rainbow Mountain in the Rainbow Country.
One is in a glacier cave in Blizzal.
One is at the bottom of the Mobile Sea.
The last is on top of Fire Tower in Fire Country.

First is the one in Rainbow Country. He tells you to go talk to Zoppile, the
Zoppie living in Fairy Village. He can show you the way.

Torasako asks Elemental Dragon if he can stay and live in Fairy Village. He
gives his permission.

----5. Rainbow Country

---A. Tunguska Cliff

Go back to Fairy Village and talk to Zoppile. Take him to the elder's house. The
elder tell Zoppile to take you to Rainbow Country. Zoppile is hesitant to do so,
but the elder convinces him.

When you leave, Torasako stays behind. He's gotten his wish.

Go south, around the lake, to Tunguska Cliff. If you can descend this cliff,
you'll get to Rainbow Country.

In the cave, there's a sign saying "Warriors' road to the right, Magicians' road
to the left." Pick which one you want to go down and press the appropriate
switch.

At the bottom pf the Magician path, press the two switches on the wall to get to
the blocked room.

---B. Rainbow City
Items to find:

No, you're not tripping. Welcome to Rainbow Country! Rainbow City is north of
the cave. For some reason, Zoppile insists on waiting outside.

Go see King Zoppie in his palace on the north side. Ariel asks him about the
Dragon Essence. The king says it's on Rainbow Mountain, but is hesitant. Ariel
wonders if it has something to do with Zoppile. King Zoppie is surprised to hear
than Zoppile came with you. It turns out, he's Zoppile's father. They had a
disagreement over the colors of the rainbow. The king said there were 7, but
Zoppile insisted that gold and silver be included, making 9. It got so bad that
Zoppile left in a huff. Ariel thinks it's a bit funny, but says she'll talk to
him.

Once you leave the city, Zoppile rejoins.

---C. Rainbow Mountain

Head east from Rainbow City to Rainbow Mountain. You'll have to circle around
the maze a bit.

Check the walls for side doors! Look for indentations in the bubbles.

At the top pf the mountain is a room where the Dragon Essence should be, but
there's nothing there. Instead, a monster drops from the ceiling. After you
defeat it, you get a Earth Orb, one of the Dragon Essences.

Ariel decides this is the time to talk to Zoppile about his argument with his
father. She says the rainbow is pretty and asks who made it. Zoppile says it was
him and King Zoppie. Ariel laments not being able to see pretty rainbows, now
that they're not working together.

Go back to Rainbow City. Zoppile tries to wait outside again, but Ariel
convinces him to come with them to see King Zoppie.

King Zoppie is glad to see his son again, and forgives him for the argument.
Zoppile says they'll make a special rainbow between the city and Rainbow
Mountain as thanks- a special 7-colored one.

----6. Blizzal

---A. Fairy Village
Go back to Fairy Village. The equipment shop has some new stuff.

Talk to the elder. He's impressed that you managed to get one of the Dragon
Essences. He says he's sensed an evil force spreadng ove the world, one that
brings destruction. You must get the rest of the Dragon Essences quickly, before
it's too late. Next, you should find the one in Blizzal, to the north. The Queen
of the North Wind lives there in her Ice Palace. She has the next Dragon
Essence. You'll have to cross the sea to get there, but he can use his power to
part it.

---B. Ice Cave
Items to find:

Exit the fairy village through the Fairy Forest, and go as far north as you can.
There is a land bridge there now, leadng to Blizzal. In the far north is the Ice
Cave. Most of the monsters in here drop Water Souls, which are pretty hard to
come by elsewhere.

---C. Ice Palace

The entrance to the Ice Palace is in the back of the Ice Cave.

In the first room, there's something stuck in the middle pillar, but you can't
get it, yet.

You find the Queen on her throne, but she seems to be asleep. You can't wake
her. It's like she's dead. A mysterious voice says that's exactly the case.

The owner of the voice, Hypno, appears. He's cursed the Queen to sleep and
she'll never awaken. He tries to cast the same curse on you. A fireball keeps
him from completing it. It's Doll! He removes the curse on Ariel and Kyle and
the fight is on. Luckily, Doll's learned some new spells while he was away.

After beating Hypno, Doll explains what happened. He pretended to cooperate with
the enemy while looking for a way for them to escape, but Ariel got away before
he could.

The Queen awakens, and Ariel explains everything. As thanks, the Queen gives you
the Wind Orb. If she'd stayed asleep, the ice here would have melted, flooding
the whole world. If you press the switch in the center pillar, the way to
Lunole, the entrance will switch and you can exit to Lunole.

----7. Leviathan

---A. Nineveh and Santorio
Press the switch and exit the Ice Cave. You're back near Nineveh! Go see Arma.
Ariel tells her everything that's happened. Since the next Dragon Essence is in
the sea, you'll need a boat. Ranzel suggests talking to Murdoch.

You'll need to catch a boat from Santorio again. Go there. There are rumors of
pirates going around now. Go to the shop to buy a ticket. The man says there's a
boat leaving for Listholm soon, but he can't guarantee your safety. There have
been shipwrecks and pirate attacks. If you still want to go, the ticket costs
6000P. Buy it can get on the boat.

---B. Pirate ship
Items to find:

On the way to Listholm, your boat is attacked by pirates. Doll comes to Ariel's
room to warn her. Kyle is already fighting them. Pirates rush in and take them
prisoner.

Warwick, the pirate captain, decides to keep Ariel and Doll as hostages. Kyle
tries to stop him, but is beaten. Pirates shut Ariel and Doll up in the hold.

The boat continues, but is soon engulfed by a whirlpool. When it makes landfall
somewhere, a pirate comes to get Ariel and Doll. Warwick tells them the boat has
been swallowed by Leviathan, a giant whale. Fortunately, the boat is mostly
intact, and they can repair it. While they do, Warwick wants to explore the
inside of Leviathan's stomach and takes you with him.

---C. Stomach City
Exit the ship and head west. It seems you weren't the first to be swallowed, as
other survivors have set up a town.

A sailor in the pub offers to tell you how to get out of Leviathan's stomach in
exchange for the nifty sunglasses you're carrying (the Amber Glasses). He says
there's an old man named Borow living on a small island in the sea of seaweed
that knows how to get out. The sea of seaweed is to the SE.

---D. Sea of Seaweed

Head south of the boat to the Sea of Seaweed. The entrance looks like a spiral
just off the coast. The bubble-like things act like stairs. Walk along until you
find another red spiral. This leads to Borow's hut.

Borow knows how to get out of Leviathan. Once he finds out you have a usable
ship, he agrees to tell you, if you will take him with you. Go back across the
sea of seaweed (hey, at least you're getting a bunch of Water Souls.)

---E. Pirate ship

Go back to the ship. The repairs are almost done. Once they are, you set off and
Borow guides you through Leviathan's innards to his blowhole. To get out, you'll
need to follow the air currents exactly. Any mistake and it's over.

But the currents stop suddenly. Something is wrong. A tentacled monster rises
from the water and attacks the boat.

Once you beat it, you find the Water Orb. What luck! The boat starts shaking
again. The fight must have upset Leviathan's stomach. The currents start up
again, and the boat continues. Just before the boat makes it to the exit, it
shakes again and Ariel falls overboard. Doll jumps in after her, despite
Warwick's attempts to hold him back.

Some time later, Ariel awakens. Doll says they were spit out of Leviathan and
picked up by another boat. He doesn't know what happened to Warwick and the
other pirates.

----8. Fire Country

---A. Listholm
The boat arrives in Listholm. Ariel figures they might as well go see Murdoch.
Murdoch is glad to see you're okay. He'd heard you were taken by pirates. From
who? From Kyle! Kyle's not here, now, though. He went off to try to help you.
There's still the matter of getting a boat. He can't help with them, but King
Feuzel of Estaranto may be able to. He doesn't know how to get an audience with
the king, though.

---B. Estaranto
In any case, it's off to Estaranto for you. The castle guards still won't let
you in. Go see Raphael and show him the Silver Knife. He identifies it as
belonging to Michael, his brother. You tell him what happenedto Michael and how
you got the knife. Raphael then tells you about their mission. Michael was
tasked with sneaking into the Vandal Empire to spy, but he never returned. He
mus have been attacked on his way back. Raphael must go report this to the king,
and asks you to come with him and tell the king what happened to Michael.

Go to the castle and talk to King Feuzel. Michael tells him everything. The king
is sad to hear this, but promises not to let his death be in vain. Ariel asks if
he can let them use a boat. The king gives you a Gold Card. Show this at the
port, and you can take a port anywhere.

---C. Listholm
Go back to Listholm. When you enter, Count Darahyde comes to meet you. He's
finished his urgent business, and as an apology for leaving you in the lurch,
last time, he decides to join you for a while. Yay!

Go see Murdoch. Fang is there! A friend of Murdoch's found him wandering the
western desert.

Now that you have a boat, you can sail wherever you want. Fang asks how to get
to the Fire Country. Murdoch says it's far to the east of Listholm. It's home to
Dwarves.

Go to the port and show the Gold Card to the harbormaster. You can now use the
boat whenever you want. You can sail wherever, but you can only disembark at
another harbor.

---D. Dotton's Harbor
Items to find:

Sail east from Listholm until you find an island surrounded by volcanoes. On the
south end is a harbor. Talk to Dotton in the house. Ariel asks where the Dwarf
country is. He says it's underground. The entrance is in a mountain to the
north.

---E. Mt. Pinat

Sil Emerald

Go north to Mt. Pinat.

In the cave, there is a cross made of stone pillars. Check the center one for
the Sil Emerald.

Spiral through until you come out into Dwarf Country. From there, go east to
Domdom Town.

---F. Domdom Town

If you want to go into Fire Tower or Peapot Mine, you'll need the king's
permission.

The inn sells Magma Dumplings for 500P. Buy one and bring it to the man in the
house just SW of the inn, and he'll do Mixed Form.

---G. Dross Castle

Head SE from Domdom to Dross Castle. Bring a Magma Dumpling. When you talk to
King Dosken, he'll demand a tribute. He likes Magma Dumplings, so he'll just
take that. Ariel asks for permission to go to Fire Tower. He doesn't mind if you
go, but the way to it was recently destroyed in an earthquake. Unless you can
cross the lava, there's no way to get to it. He doesn't think you can do it. In
fact, he says he'll give you all his treasure if you do.

Outside the castle, Doll suggests returning to the city and investigating how to
get to the tower. Talk to the people in the inn. They talk about a weird guy
named Egil, living in a cave to the SW. He's been building something that
supposedly can sail over lava.

---H. Egil's Cave

Go SW from the city to Egil's Cave. You'll find Egil in one of the rooms. He's a
little miffed that the people in town know about his project, but decides it
doesn't matter too much. He is, indeed, making a boat that can cross lava. But
it's not finished. He needs some special unmeltable ore for the bottom, and that
can only be found in Peapot Mine, and King Dosken won't let anyone else in. If
you can get this ore for him, he can finish the boat, and he'll let you use it
to get to Fire Tower.

---I. Peapot Mine
Items to find:

Head SE from the city, then circle back west to get to Peapot Mine. As soon as
you enter, there's an earthquake. A number of miners come running. There are
monsters below, and they're getting out of here. So now the mine's empty, and
there's no one to stop you taking the ore.

At the bottom of the mine, you find a chunk of Terranium, to ore Egil wanted.
Take the ore to Egil. He'll use it to finish the boat and ask if you're ready to
set off. You won't be able to come back until you're done, as he doesn't know if
the boat will hold out.

You set off. Once at the island, he throws you up the cliff using giant seesaw.
If you need to rest, you can go back to the ship and sleep in the cabin.

---J. Fire Tower

Fire Tower is on the north side of the island. At the top of the tower, you find
an old man. Ariel asks him about the Dragon Essence. Upon finding out that
you're the ones looking for the Dragon Essences, the man laughs. You killed his
comrades, now it's your turn. He turns into a monster and attacks.

Once you beat him, you find the Fire Orb. Quickly, go back to Egil's boat, or
you won't be able to get back.

Egil sets off. Halfway there, the ore on the bottom begins to melt! The boat's
not going to make it!

Fang has an idea. He tells everyone to grab onto him. Everyone does. He turns
into a bigger dragon and flies away, just as the boat sinks.

Ariel wakes up in Egil's cave. Everyone's safe, but Fang doesn't remember doing
anything. Egil was so distrught at the loss of the boat that he hasn't gotten
out of bed. Ariel goes to apologize, but it turns out he's not depressed at all.
He's just too busy thinking about the design for the next boat. Time to get to
work!

Remember how King Dosken said he'd give you his treasure if you managed to get
to Fire Tower? Go see if he'd good for it. He is, grudingly.

----9. Return to Aretha Kingdom

---A. Sacred Mountain

Go back to Dotton's harbor. As you board the boat, Piruru comes running up
behind you. He's been looking for you- the elder's collapsed! You need to bring
the Dragon Essences at once! He can take you back to Sacred Mountain, but can't
take everyone. He can only take three of you. Darahyde volunteers to stay
behind, although being separated from Ariel makes him sad. He'll take the boat
back to Listholm. Piruru teleports Ariel, Doll and Fang to Sacred Mountain.

The elder is in the cave behind you. Now that he's protected by the barrier on
the mountain, he's fine. The evil power coming from the Vandal Empire suddenly
got stronger. He doesn't know what that power is, yet, but it must have
something to do with the darkness he sensed before.

Ariel starts to give the Dragon Essences to the elder, but Leira barges in and
stops her. She's here to kill the elder and get the last Aretha ring. Ariel and
Leira fight, but are equally matched. Suddenly, both of them collapse with
splitting headaches. With Leira out of action, Zeihart tries his luck. Doll and
Fang try to stop him.

The elder senses some dark power coming from Zeihart. Doll and Fang attack.
Ariel is paralyzed, and you'll have to heal her.

While Zeihart is destracted, Ariel manages to give the Dragon Essences to the
elder. He turns back into his dragon form and disintegrates Zeihart. Leira
flees.

Elemental Dragon says that Leira's energy felt exactly like Ariel's. He doesn't
know what that means.
But it's time to do what he promised and reveal Ariel's destiny. It seems that
Ariel is destined to be the next "Aretha". In a previous life, she was princess
of the Aretha kingom. Her current self is cursed and split into two. The other
half must be Leira. She has to find a way to undo the curse and go back to her
true self. The key to breaking the curse is in the Aretha Rings. She must find
the others, and avenge her father and kingdom by defeating the Vandal Empire.

You must now go to the Aretha Kingdom and find the source of the darkness.
Elemental Dragon wants Fang to stay with him. There's a seal on him, but he
thinks he can undo it. Fang doesn't want to, but Ariel insists.

---B. Port Mercia

Elemental Dragon teleports you to Listholm. Go see Murdoch. Kyle has returned,
and Murdoch convinced him to stay. Go find him at the docks and bring him back
to Murdoch's house. Now that the gang is back together, it's time to go back to
Aretha Kingdom.

Go get the boat (you'll have to talk to the harbormaster), and sail east to Port
Mercia. Vandal Empire soldiers have the port blocked off, but Kyle insists on
fighting your way through. It works, but now they've drawn attention to
themselves. Minea comes and drags you off before more soldiers can arrive. Minea
and Kyle get in an argument about his behavior, but Ariel talks them down. Minea
says they should go to the Aretha Temple.

---C. Aretha Temple

Go to the Aretha Temple. Everyone gathers on the symbol on the floor, and Minea
teleports them somewhere. This, she explains, is the real Aretha Temple. The
ruined one was just a copy. The real one is in between dimensions, away from the
world. When the Vandal Empire attacked, the priestesses at the time, of which
Minea and Marie's grandmother was one, transported the temple here to protect
it.

Go to the alter, where Celia and Marie are waiting. Celia says that the time has
come to return the temple to the real world. The Vandal Empire, and its emperor,
Humil have begun to put their plan into action. Before, there was a great magic
power in the world. This power was split between three countries- Aretha
Kingdom, Elucia and Vandal. Now that Aretha Kingdom and Elucia have lost their
power, Vandal intends to use it to bring darkness to the world. That darkness is
the demon king Haward. They must stop this. The only way to do it is be reviving
the magic power of Aretha Kingdom and Elucia. For that, you must defeat Baron
Zaleos in Baluga Castle and Count Basim in Lauran Castle. As Aretha's successor,
you're the only one who can do this. Pick one of the sisters to go with you (I
picked Celia, since I hadn't played her, yet).

---D. Baluga Castle

Go to Baluga Castle. You'll have to fight off the guards to get in. They were
already looking for you, thanks to Kyle's stunt in Port Mercia. These guys are
pretty resistant to magic and pretty hard to hit. Use Doll's Sleep spell to
increase your hit chance.

You'll have to fight more guards to get through the inner doors, too. Don't
bother using magic on them. Put them to sleep wth Doll's Sleep spell, while Kyle
fights. Have Ariel refill her MP with MP Jema, too. Free MP!

Finally, you reach Baron Zaleos. His Anti-paladins are easier to hit than their
guard brethren, but Zaleos himself has a habit of casting Teras, so be careful
with spells.

If you go to Haroharo City or Port Mercia now, some of the men taken to Baluga
Castle will have returned. Not all of them, though...

Now go back to Aretha Temple. The real one has been returned to the real world.
The next thing to do is free Elucia. They hear the princess of Elucia,
Anastasia, is being held in the Fort Warzak. Free her and she can help you. The
sisters will stay at the temple and try to revive its power. Celia teleports you
to Elucia.

----10. Elucia

---A. Parse
You end up near the town of Parse. Some of the people there give you hints about
Fort Warzak. If you want to go to the dungeons, you'll need to turn the switch
on the top floor of the tower on. Some of the walls have shiny bricks. These are
switches, too.

---B. Fort Warzak
Items to find:

Fort Warzak is SE of Parse. If you want to fight the guards, use the same
strategy as with the Baluga ones, but many of them can be avoided. Go up the
towers in the NW and SE corners and switch both switches on, then go down the
center stairs. Switch the third switch on, and go down to the dungeons.

In the dungeons, watch for bits of the floor where the pattern breaks. Those are
traps.

Pull the right-hand switch on the wall by the entrance. Go to the end of the
hall and press the shiny brick. This opens up the path to another switch. Press
it. Go back to the entrance and off the right switch.

Go to the room to the horth and press the brick switch. Go back to the first
brick switch, and there will be a passage to the north. Press the brick switch
by the chest (don't open it- it's a trap) and go north.

Go through the door in the south wall just ahead and flip the switch there, then
continue down the hall north and east, then south through the trapped room. You
probably won't be able to get to the room in the center.

At the end  of the hall, fight off the guards and enter the room. Press the
switch there, and go back to the trapped room. Approach the center door from one
of the side paths. Go down the stairs to the cells.

In order to open the door to Anastasia's cell, you'll need the key. If you
didn't get it, the guard in the horizontal hallway west of the first room has
it.

Let Anastasia out. She's not sure she can trust you, but Ariel says she'll
explain everything later. Anastasia asks you to take her to Parse's inn.

Go to the inn and talk to the innkeeper. Anastasia asks about a suite room. It's
a codeword used by the anti-Vandal resistance. They go inside and Ariel explains
everything and agrees to help Anastasia's forces take back Lauran. The soldiers
will attack Lauran City as a distraction while you and Anastasia get into the
castle.

---C. Lauran Castle
Items to find:

Get SE around the mountains to Lauran. If you try to go into the city, you'll
ruin the plan, so go straight for the castle. Fight your way in.

The throne room is straight back, but Basim's not there. Where is he? Go up the
NW tower. Basim's hiding in the top room. He make a big show of how he's going
to destroy them. But when Kyle attacks him, he goes down with one hit. Angry.
Basim decides to show his real power. He vanishes, and the door shuts. Basim's
voice echoes from the walls. He's become one with the castle itself. You're
inside his body, now. There's no escape.

The tower shakes, and Fang comes flying in through the ceiling. Everyone grabs
on and he flies them away. They land in the woods.

Fang explains that he's grown bigger and learned to fly because Elemental Dragon
finally undid the seal. But now the castle is moving. Fang flies off to try to
rescue as many people as he can. You'll have to fight off the monster castle
yourselves.

---D. Lauran City

Everyone returns to Lauran City. Elucia is free of the Vandal Empire now. Ariel
asks Anastasia if she's heard of Ephraim. She says she remembers a court
magician named Ephraim. He was called a genius, but one day, he vanished and no
one saw him again. There's a magician's house on Mt. Marmut to the north. Ariel
wants to investigate this house.

Fang has rejoined the party. His flame breath has also been upgraded so it can
attack an entire side. You can fly by pressing the A button at any time on the
world map.

A woman in town says she remembers seeing a young girl playing near the
magician's house.

---E. Magician's Villa

Mt. Marmut is just north of Lauran. You'll need to use Fang to fly over the
lake.

Go in the cave and press the switch. When you come out, a path will have opened
up to the east. Repeat with the next one. At the top, you'll find the magician's
villa.

Examine the bookshelf. It triggers a mechanism, revealing a hidden door. Follow
the secret passage to the cellar. There, you find a girl lying in a coffin. At
first, you think she's asleep, but she's dead. Who is she?

Ephraim himself arrives. Kyle wants to fight, but Ariel sees he's injured. Kyle
demands to know who the girl is and if he killed her. The girl is his daughter,
Elda.

Before he can explain further, Duke Zafan arrives. He's after Ephraim. Doll
recognizes him as one of the Vandal nobles. Zafan isn't necessarily here to
fight. He has something to show you. There's a flash of light and Doll starts
acting weird. He attacks Ariel. Doll is again under Zafan's control. He's a
magic doll and Zafan is his master.

And there's more. Elda's body stands up. Zafan commands both Doll and Elda to
attack, but Ephram has a plan of his own. He teleports you out of the house. You
hear Zafan's voice coming from above. He has both Doll and Elda and if you want
them back, you'll have to come to his flying castle.

Ephraim starts to leave, intent on going to Zafan's castle. Ariel wants them all
to go together. Ephraim protests that they're supposed to be enemies and leaves
on his own. Ariel is still intent on going to the flying castle. Fang can get
them there. It's directly above the mountain.

---F. Flying Castle

Leave Mt. Marmut and press up as if trying to enter it again. This time, Fang
will take off for the Flying Castle.

The green balls are transporters. After fighting off a Grey Wyvern, Zafan and
Doll appear. Zafan demands the Aretha Ring. Ariel offers to give it to him if
he'll turn Doll back to normal. Zafan seems to agree, takes the ring and
disappears. But Doll isn't back to normal. He's intent on killing them. Kyle
tries to fight him, but is beaten. Ariel slaps him, and that does the trick. But
Kyle is still badly hurt.

Anastasia comes running. She followed you here. She'll take Kyle back to the
city. Ariel, Doll and Fang should keep going.

Farther down the line, Leira runs up. She's gotten the whole story from
Elemental Dragon, and Zafan has her ring. She insists on joining you.

At the end of the line, you find Zafan. He's just taken care of Ephraim, so it's
your turn. He tries to reestablish his control over Doll, but it doesn't work. A
bright light stops it. It's the last of the Aretha rings. Doll secretly had it.
Now all three are together, and Zafan just has to get rid of you. The fight is
on.

Defeated, Zafan disappears. Barbados takes his place. He takes the Aretha rings
and leaves. Fang wants to go after him, but someone else appears and stops him.
It's Seara! She explains that after Ariel left for Nineveh that day, Zafan
attacked. She was captured. She will now go to the Aretha Temple and help out
there. You must go to the Vandal Empire and get the Aretha rings back!

----11. Vandal Empire

---A. Sphere City

The home of the Vandal Empire is just SE of Aretha Kingdom. If you flew over it
before, there wouldn't have been anything there. Now, there's a city. It's
empty, except for the monsters you encounter.

---B. Vandal Castle

Blast Bow

Vandal Castle is in the north of Sphere City. More guards to fight. You know the
drill by now.

Barbados is in the farthest room. Ariel demands the Aretha rings back, and he
attacks. He can attack everyone at once, and casts Teras.

After you defeat him, Ariel again demands the rings. They're not here, though.
The emperor took them, to become the new Aretha. It's too late to stop him, and
Barbados is just sorry he won't live to see the world shrouded in darkness.

Doll says this is really bad. If he unleashes the power of the rings, Gatanasoa
will be revived. Doll's gotten his memory back, finally. He remember fighting a
chaos demon named Gatanasoa, using the Aretha rings. The demon was defeated, and
sealed away, but not destroyed. The rings can release it. That's why he sealed
himself in the crystal, to wait for the next Aretha. That person is Ariel.

Now they have to find the Emperor, but where is he? Darahyde arrives, having
heard what you said. He reveals that his full name is Count Darahyde Gadelue, of
the Vandal Empire. But he's not here to stop you, he's here to help. He moves
the throne, revealing a tunnel to the dimension where the emperor is. He isn't
trying to betray anyone, though. This is all just a game to him, and he goes
wherever his heart takes him, with no loyalty to anyone in particular. He helped
you because if the world was ruled by darkness, things would get boring. Yeah,
he's kind of a douche.

He leaves. Fang wants to go after him, but Ariel is more concerned with catching
up to the emperor. Go through the tunnel and step on the magic circle.

---C. Dimensional Castle

Follow the dimensional maze. You find Emperor Humil in the center. He's managed
to collect enough magic power in this dimension that he should be stronger than
Aretha. Doll warns him to stop, but he doesn't. He merges the three Aretha
rings, and prepares to unleash their power to bring darkness to the world, but
something goes wrong. He vanishes, and a dark shadow takes his place. It is
Gatanasoa, finally released from captivity. He recognizes Doll, and is hungry
for revenge. He attacks.

Gatanasoa's Dark Reverse attack (the blue one) removes all magic boost effects
from the party. The Hellhole attack (the red one) causes a Fear effect. He can
also attack everyone at once.

---D: Ending

Gatanasoa is defeated, but not destroyed. But Fang has the answer. He'd kept it
a secret until now, but when Elemental Dragon undid the seal on his powers, he
realized that he was sent by the goddess Aretha to protect Ariel from Gatanasoa.
He also has the power to permanently seal the demon in thie dimension. He tells
Doll to get everyone out, then flies at Gatanasoa. Over Ariel's objections, Doll
teleports them out.

After a (very) brief mourning period for Fang, everyone goes to the Aretha
temple. The rings are returned to where they belong. Ariel and Leira merge,
regaining their true form.

Congratulations, you have completed Aretha.
