Introduction------------------------------------------------------------- Hello! And welcome to Tsukinohime3's FAQ for Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon S Kurukkurin, commonly called "Sailor Moon Hearts". Here you'll learn tips, tricks, and secrets for the game to help you conquer the resistance! You'll have to battle not only the Death Busters' Daemons, but also your fellow Sailor Senshi! Are you up for the challenge? Well then, let's get to it! II. Controls---------------------------------------------------------------- Only three things are needed. Arrows move your Luna-P around, B is select, and Start is for the inevitable bathroom break. III. Background------------------------------------------------------------- (Skip this if you're a Sailor Moon otaku) Long ago, there was a shining kingdom on the Moon called Silver Millennium. This kingdom was ruled by a kind and caring monarch, Queen Serenity. The kingdom was destroyed by a dark power known as Queen Metallia, harnessed by the evil Queen Beryl, killing the Queen's only daughter, Princess Serenity, along with her four guardians, Sailor Mars, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Jupiter, and Sailor Venus. Also caught up in the crossfire was Prince Endymion, the prince of the earth and Princess Serenity's lover. Queen Serenity managed to seal away the great evil with the powers of the Ginzuishou (Silver Crystal) and with the last of her energy, sent those who perished in Silver Millennium to the earth to live happy lives in the future. Many centuries passed and Princess Serenity was reborn as Tsukino Usagi. Her friends Hino Rei (Mars), Mizuno Ami (Mercury), Kino Makoto (Jupiter), and Aino Minako (Venus) awakened as sailor soldiers in 20th Century Tokyo, Japan. Also reborn was Chiba Mamoru, who was once Prince Endymion, now disguised as the mysterious Tuxedo Mask. From 30th century Crystal Tokyo came Chibi-Usa, Usagi and Mamoru's future daughter. Mysterious soldiers also joined the fight: Sailor Uranus (Tenou Haruka), Sailor Neptune (Kaiou Michiru), and Sailor Pluto (Meiou Setsuna). These once watched over the outer limits of the solar system during the time of Silver Millennium. Now a new evil threatens the earth: The Death Busters. Hidden within the crystalized forms of humans' pure hearts are talismans: Space Sword, Aqua Mirror, and Garnet Orb. Once the three talismans are gathered together, the Holy Grail will appear. If placed in the right hands, all evil will be eradicated from the earth. If placed in the wrong hands, an era of silence and death will begin, destroying all life on earth. And so our story continues... IV. Your Mission------------------------------------------------------------ You must protect and collect the three talismans before your opponent. This is accomplished by helping the talismans drop to the bottom of the screen by using special items and eliminating hearts. To eliminate hearts, select any group of matching hearts of two or more. The hearts come in four flavors: Pink, Yellow, Purple, and Green. As the hearts drop from the top of the screen, they are "blank." Flip them over by directing your Luna-P or "Artemis-P" (the bouncing cat heads) over them to reveal a color or special item. Talismans do not need to be flipped over; they appear as-is. Blank hearts can also be eliminated by eliminating matching hearts adjacent to them. They're collateral damage, so to speak, but it's a gamble. You may unknowingly eliminate a special item that you did not flip over! Another way to infuriate your opponent is by making three matches in a row. It creates an extra row of blank hearts on the bottom of your opponent's screen. The faster you eliminate hearts, the sooner your next talisman will appear so it's a race against time! V. The Characters----------------------------------------------------------- Upon beginning the game, a character selection screen appears. The grid looks like this: A B C D E* F G H* I J K L *Signifies a character that will not appear without a secret code. A. Sailor Mars Appearance: Long black hair, purple eyes, red and purple costume. Incantation: "Burning Mandala!" Visual: Nine fireballs fly from Mars' hands. Type: Elimination. Effect: Randomly destroys nine of opponent's hearts. Time Factor: Immediate. No lasting effect. Other: May also target special items and talismans. B. Sailor Moon Appearance: Blonde hair in pigtails, blue eyes, blue and red costume. Incantation: "Moon Spiral Heart Attack!" Visual: A spiral of hearts fly up from Moon's wand and land on target, exploding into a larger heart. Type: Elimination. Effect: Randomly destroys a 3x3 block of opponent's hearts. Time Factor: Immediate. No lasting effect. Other: May also target special items and talismans. C. Sailor Mercury Appearance: Short blue hair, blue eyes, blue costume. Incantation: "Shine Aqua Illusion!" Visual: Sparkles surround Mercury and a waterfall drenches the screen. Type: Disruption. Effect: Disables opponent's ability to flip over new hearts. Time Factor: 20 second duration. Other: Devious if used with another special item (see section VI). D. Sailor Jupiter Appearance: Brown hair in a ponytail, green eyes, green and pink costume. Incantation: "Sparkling Wide Pressure!" Visual: Jupiter throws a ball of electricity, which systematically runs through the rows of hearts on the screen. Type: Replacement. Effect: Nullifies up to 9 of opponent's hearts with electrified duds. Time Factor: 40 second duration Other: May also target special items. I haven't seen it target a talisman, but it may be a possibility. E. Super Sailor Moon (secret) Appearance: Same as Sailor Moon, but with a frilly, more detailed costume. Incantation: "Rainbow Moon Heartache!" Visual: A spiral of hearts fly up from Moon's wand and land on target, exploding into a huge heart. Type: Elimination Effect: Randomly destroys a 4x4 block of opponent's hearts. Time Factor: Immediate. No lasting effect. Other: May also target special items and talismans. F. Sailor Venus Appearance: Long blonde hair with red bow, blue eyes, orange and blue costume. Incantation: "Venus Love-Me Chain!" Visual: Several rows of hearts fly from Venus' hands in an upward diagonal formation. Type: Elimination. Effect: Eliminates up to three of the opponent's special items. Time Factor: Immediate. No lasting effect. Other: Also targets talismans, daemon, or diamon eggs. G. Sailor Chibi-Moon Appearance: Pink hair in pigtails, red eyes, pink and red costume. Incantation: "Pink Sugar Heart Attack!" Visual: On Chibi-Moon's second attempt, heart rings shoot from her wand and land on target. Type: Replacement. Effect: Replaces one of opponent's heart slot with an umbrella. Time Factor: Permanent. Other: Annoying. May also target special items. H. Sailor Saturn (secret) Appearance: Short black/purple hair, purple eyes, purple and red costume. Incantation: "Silence Glaive!" Visual: Saturn raises her glaive and a dark mist fills the screen. Type: Replacement. Effect: Replaces three of opponent's heart slots with daemon eggs. Time Factor: Permanent. Other: Defeating Saturn is hard! As a fan, I also feel utterly betrayed by this attack, as it misrepresents the character and her abilities. I. Tuxedo Mask Appearance: Dressed in a tuxedo, top hat, and mask. Incantation: "Hoh!" Visual: After a storm of roses, Tuxedo Mask jumps into action! Type: Disruption. Effect: He jumps in front of his opponent's screen, blocking vision. Time Factor: 40 second duration. Other: If playing against the computer, it still works as if playing against a human! However, if you can defeat the game using Tuxedo Mask, you can rightly say you have mastered the game, having won through raw skill. J. Sailor Uranus Appearance: Super short blonde hair, blue eyes, navy blue and yellow costume. Incantation: "World Shaking!" Visual: Uranus punches a yellow planet-shaped sphere into the ground, erupting upwards on her target. Type: Elimination. Effect: Destroys one column on opponent's screen. Time Factor: 35 second duration. Other: Also eliminates talismans and special items. K. Sailor Neptune Appearance: Wavy teal hair, blue eyes, teal and navy blue costume. Incantation: "Deep Submerge!" Visual: Neptune throws a blue planet-shaped sphere above the screen, sending a wave of water cascading downwards. Type: Disruption. Effect: Delays the descent of new hearts on opponent's screen. Time Factor: 35 second duration. Other: --nothing worth noting-- L. Sailor Pluto Appearance: Long dark green hair, green eyes, dark blue and purple costume. (Her eye and costume coloration are extremely inaccurate.) Incantation: "Dead Scream!" Visual: A purple planet-shaped sphere comes from Pluto's Staff, and flies down the screen. Type: Disruption. Effect: Shifts the dividing line over, effectively stealing one column of opponent's screen. Time Factor: 35 second duration. Other: This attack does not "steal" talismans. That slot disappears and a new heart falls from the top to take its place. VI. Special Items----------------------------------------------------------- 1. Cosmic Brooch Description: Sailor Moon's transformation brooch: a pink heart with gold detailing. First Appearance: Level one. Effect: Selecting a brooch and then a colored heart eliminates all hearts of that color. Does not affect blank hearts. Tips & Tricks: Most useful on a full screen of overturned hearts or if only one heart remains beneath a talisman. 2. Spiral Heart Moon Rod Description: Sailor Moon's attack wand: a pink rod with a red heart on top. First Appearance: Level two. Effect: Triggers a character's attack. Targets the opponent's screen or any active diamon on his/her own screen (Daemon take priority). Tips & Tricks: If you've got multiple diamon eggs on your screen, wait until they hatch, if possible, then take them all out at once. Or you can be completely ruthless against your opponent! It all depends on your style. 3. Ginzuishou Description: A shiny pink circular object. First Appearance: Level three. Effect: Select the ginzuishou and then any colored heart for one of four possible effects. Yellow: Deletes the bottom row on your side of the screen. Green: Switches border columns (the two columns closest to the dividing line) with the opponent. Pink: Turns all of the opponent's hearts and special items over to blank state. Purple: Turns all of his/her own hearts over to reveal colors and special items. Tips & Tricks: If playing as Mercury, attacking and then immediately using the pink combo is especially brutal. If the opponent has a talisman on the border column, selecting the green option will negate the talisman. You cannot truly "steal" your opponent's talisman, since it turns into a blank spot and a blank heart falls from the top in its place. It's also a good way to offload your unwanted daemon or daemon eggs. Selecting the yellow option will not eliminate a daemon. 4. Daemon Egg Description: A round greenish-gray object that appears cracked. Pulsates before hatching. First Appearance: Level four. Effect: Hatches into a Daemon. Can only be eliminated with the use of special items. Cannot be eliminated with an attack item. Tips & Tricks: If an egg begins to pulsate (a sign of imminent hatching), eliminating some items below it can stall its progression if you need a little extra time to eliminate it. Using the ginzuishou/yellow combo will eliminate an egg on the bottom row. Shooting it with an arrow also works, but the odds are low if it has already begun pulsating. If your opponent uses the ginzuishou/pink combo and turns over your hearts, the daemon egg will remain but since it turns into a blank heart, it can be eliminated by making a heart match around it, since matches take out all blank hearts that border the immediate area. 5. Daemon Decription: A black, snake head with a big hungry-looking mouth. I don't know how else to describe it, honestly. First Appearance: Level four. Effect: Steals and destroys any talismans it touches. Upon destroying a talisman, it also disappears, presumably to take it back to enemy HQ. Tips & Tricks: Can only be eliminated with an attack. You can also offload one to your enemy by using the ginzuishou/green combo if it's in the border column. 6. Arrow Description: A bow and arrow, pointing up, down, left, or right. First Appearance: Level four. Effect: Eliminates all items (except active daemon and talismans) in the direction that the arrow points. Once the arrow encounters an item it cannot delete, the arrow stops, as if "bouncing off." Also eliminates opponent's row if pointed in that direction. Tips & Tricks: Can eliminate a daemon egg, but is ineffective against an active daemon. Also eliminates Chibi Moon's pesky umbrellas. I highly suggest you save these until they are needed and don't fire them needlessly. 7. Umbrella Description: An unfolded pink and white umbrella. First Appearance: VS. Chibi Moon ONLY Effect: Prevents any items directly above from falling past it. Tips & Tricks: Can be eliminated with an arrow. If the opponent uses the ginzuishou/pink combo and turns over your hearts, the umbrella will remain but since it turns into a blank heart, it can be eliminated by making a heart match around it, since matches take out all blank hearts that border the immediate area.
