Closing ----------------- What's this game? ----------------- This is a 4 player board game by Hudson based on the Anime, in which players compete against each other to see who can collect the items scattered throughout the different boards first. I've never played through the story mode or seen the anime so I don't have much info on those. --------------------- Why Did I write this? --------------------- There are a few reasons why I decided to write a basic FAQ for this title. Mostly because I'm tired of waiting hours on Zbattle for someone to join and give the game a shot. When that happens I have to waste time explaining how to play the game that could be used playing it. I hope this game will get a little more playing time on ZBattle than it does, and as unlikely as that is, it definitely deserves it. ---------- Board Game ---------- Blue Eyeballs ------------- The Blue Eyeballs on the maps are monsters that will join you after battle. They are not very loyal and will join whomever defeats them, but are still great help in accumulating seeds and items. Seeds ----- Seeds are used for various useful things and are obtained by defeating enemies on the map, or by letting your monsters do it for you. Menus ----- As should be self explanatory by the dice icon, the first option on the main menu decides how many moves you have. After throwing it you get 3 sub options, Move Tiles, Temporary Magic and Walk. The Move Tiles option lets you rearrange the tiles so you can walk across to board. Temporary Magic option gives you 3 sub options all of which require 1 seed. The first sub option lets you change the way a tile is facing, the 2nd creates a temporary bridge and the third lets you place a seal on a tile so that it's inaccessible to anyone for 1 turn. One menu back, the Walk option does just that, it lets you walk. One back again to the main menu, the 2nd option allows for the creation of "Natural Disasters": floods and volcano erruptions. Floods can be used anywhere, have a longer range effect fountains and require only 2 seeds, but take 1 turn to start. Erruptions require 3 seeds and can be used only near a Volcano, they however instantly errupt. The third option lets you feed your monsters seeds to level them up and give them specific AI instructions. To be offensive (sword), to collect items (bag) and so on. On the Main Menu the 4th option gives you information on the field. It tells you what each of the characters are carrying, what is on each field, and the names of each. The last option seems completely irrelevant to the VS mode. Status ------ On the bottom of the screen is the status bar. The first Box has your character portrait. To the right of the portrait is the box that indicates which player's turn it is. Under it is a small box that shows which tile you're on. To the right of the player box is the name of the character. Right underneath is a box that shows how many seeds you have. To the right are boxes (up to 4) that show what items you have. To the right again are boxes that show your allied monsters. Finally the dice to the right shows how many turns you have left. --------- Battles --------- The Yellow bars on top are the health bars. Those indicate how much damage you can take before losing. Right underneath are the KI bars. How much KI you have affects how powerful your pink card attack is and how many single attack cards you can use. Under the KI bars and the character portraits are the Card Roulettes. All cards under the "yellow orb" are attack cards and are represented each by the color of their element, cards under the "green orb" are various, but for the sake of simplicity I just call them "Powerup Cards". Attack Cards ------------ Each character has his or her own set of cards with strengths and weaknesses. The cards that appear most are their weakest and the cards that appear least their strongest. Your main attack is going to be a 3 or 4 set of cards of the same element. Having only 1 or 2 cards of the same element will result in single attacks that drain KI. Those are useful for destroying shields before attacking. For example, if you see your opponent put up a shield and you want to attack, you'd first want to break the shield with a various single attack card and then attack with a 3 card matching combo of a different element. Powerup Cards ------------- Yellow Card = The Damage reducing shield in this game. 1 or 2 matching cards result in level 1 shields, one canceling the other out, 3 matching cards result in level 2 and 4 matching cards equal a level 3 shield. Anything that creates a shield will cancel this. Red Card = KI absorption shield. Works the same way as the Yellow Card, but with KI (obviously). Green Card = This card allows you to attack multiple times during the turn and creates a level 1 shield after use. Purple Card = It cancels any card that it's over/under. Pink Card = The instant kill card. If you have full KI using this will instantly defeat your enemy no matter how much HP they have. ------- Zbattle ------- To those wondering what Zbattle is, it's a net play program designed to help users of ZsnesW find opponents. You can get it from www.zbattle.net. When you install, configure it and connect to the server you will see games being hosted and can join them by simply double clicking on a game rooms name. If your game and the hosts game match he or she then could start the game by pressing the start button, if not you have the option to download. I won't go anymore in depth than this and suggest you read up on the excellent FAQs on the site instead. ------------------ Closing and Thanks ------------------ I've tried to make it as clear as possible, but my english isn't the best and I've mostly listed information I felt was the most important.
