There are no FAQs or walkthroughs for this anywhere, and it's pretty hard. I
decided that since no one did it it's because the puzzle mode is frustrating at
some point, because people try it and just stop, thinking it will be too hard.
And since I could finish it, maybe I should show to the world how possible it
is. Well, I can detail more in the next version.

I ran into this game in the past and couldn't finish the Puzzle Mode (called
Stage Clear) and after many tries and giving up many times, I finally could
figure it out. I'm not a person who run from the fate of succedding and
defeating enemies that I failed before.

I'm Brazilian, so I hope my english is good enough for everyone to understand.
I think it's at least better than my japanese, you know.

Last, puzzle games are just so amazing.

  II- Story                                                           [00002]

Sailor Moon and balloons aren't really related to each other, except for this
game. If there is a story, it's probably something like this:

Sailors were bored after partying and decided to shoot those balloons left up
on the roof, just for fun. Well, really, it's not important.

In case you're wandering, there are 20 stage for each difficulty. Some of them
are very challenging. You can call the stages levels, rounds, whatever.

  III- Basics                                                         [00003]

Well, how to play can always help. So, even if you already know how to play,
this section can prove useful by making you remember a command or two.

Oh, I'm not covering scoring, attacking, opponents, second screen, Sailor
Specials, and such. Puzzle mode has only one screen, 8 balloons-high, 6
balloons-large, with a pre-set number of balloons already wandering for your
solution, most of the times (some can make you go away from the solution,
there are tricks).

Stage Clear Mode isn't really like the Story Mode or Versus Mode. I will write
the differences to you:

Directional: left or right will make your sailor go to the same directions.
Down or up won't have any effect on Stage Clear Mode, since you can't
accelerate the outcoming row of balloons.

Button A: your shot button, your main attack. If you shoot a single balloon,
it will pop it, unless it's a small balloons, which will grow to a normal one.
Balloons of same colors connect with others vertically and horizontally for
chains of balloons that are worth combos, which can be exploded all at once.
Gray balloons can only be exploded with certain items, see Items section in
this FAQ for more information.

Button B: this button, during game, will call Tuxedo Kamen to elliminate the
bottom row for you, whatever is there, small, normal, gray balloons all
can be destroyed this way. You need yellow energy to use it.

Button Select: if you use this button, you'll give up the current stage. Use
it only when you know you lost.

Button Start: pressing it will cause the game to pause. When paused, you can
see the combos of balloons that will give you items, but only a japanese
explanation even I can't read.

Button X, Y, L, R? No use.

  IV- Energy Bar                                                      [00004]

Before starting the items explanation, you should understand your energy bar.

On the left of your main game screen with balloons you can shot, you can see
your energy bar. It always start with five points, all pink. When you shoot two
colored balloons or combos of any color except gray, and destroy them, you'll
gain a yellow point of energy.

Yellow points of energy allow you to use Tuxedo Kamen's rose strike, that is
used with the B button. You spend five energy points, yellow or pink, with this
strike.

You lose energy when you explode any gray balloon, and if a combo is connected
to four gray balloons, they will all explode and you'll lose four energy
points. The only way of elliminating gray balloons that keeps you from losing
points will be losing five energy points on the Tuxedo Kamen strike.

The main consequence of losing energy is that if you have no energy points
left, your sailor will detransform. A detransformed sailor is slower, can't use
balloon combos, and will only retransform after rebuilding your five initial
energy points, which is make by popping 10 single balloons. Detransformed
sailors can get items if they were falling before detransformating.

You should save energy on Challenge Stages, and figure out what to do with
energy points on Puzzle Stages. Difference between the types of stages are
listed in a further section.

  V- Items                                                            [00005]

Some combinations of three, four or five balloons will give you items. You
should learn them for an easier understanding of this FAQ.

Vertical Shot:

Three balloons connected in the same column will give you the Vertical Shot,
which can destroy an entire column of balloons, even small and gray will be
gone. It won't trigger any combos it hits.

Three balloons connected in the same row will give you the Horizontal Shot,
which can destroy an entire row of balloons, even small and gray will be gone.
It won't trigger any combos it hits.

This combo will give you the Color Shot, which will destroy all balloons of the
same color, small, normal, even gray can be shoot with this. It won't trigger
any combos it hits, as all gray balloons will still be there if they were not
the target.

When you have this item, you'll receive two new rows filled with balloons of
the same color. It's useless on puzzle stages, but challenge stages can be a 
lot easier with one of these. It's a rare item, though.

This is what allows you to destroy gray balloons with single shots. You lose
one energy point to each gray balloon you hit, unless you have no energy.

This item will be useful sometimes, it allows you to guide your next three
shots, to hit balloons that hide in a diagonal pattern:

Any other combination of four balloons not listed will give you this item. In
Story or Versus Mode, it's a bummer, but here, in Stage Clear Mode, it can even
save you, so learn to get it sometimes.

  VI- Types of Stages                                                 [00006]

There are two different types of stages you can go through in Stage Clear Mode:

Challenge Stage:

They start with a set number of balloons, and will give you extra rows within
time, which you can't accelerate.

Puzzle Stage:

In these stages, you only have to deal with the set of balloons, no new one
will come.

Differences:
------------
- During a Puzzle Stage, Same Color Item is useless, but it's useful on
Challenge Stages.

- You should never call Tuxedo Kamen to kill colored balloons on a Puzzle
Stage, but it can save you on many Challenge Stages.

- In Challenge Stages, you need to shoot a bigger number of balloons than
showed on the screen when beginning, but in Puzzle Stages, the number is
exactly the same, so you need to shoot all balloons. Gray balloons doesn't
count as shootable balloons for the solution.

- The music is different. Challenge Stages have this paced-up-bee-remix music,
and Puzzle Stages have that sailors-go-happy music.

  VII- Stage Clear Explanation                                        [00007]

The 3rd option on the main menu will start (hajime kara) your game, or continue
it (tsudzuki kara), so, if you'll start, it's the first option, but if you have
a password, choose the second option to insert it.

After starting, you'll get the title Stage Clear Game (suteeji kuria geemu) and
the options Play Game (geemu wo suru) or Hear Explanation (setsumei wo kiku),
which you can't read without knowing katakana and hiragana, so I'll try to
translate Luna's words to you:

Which says something like:
Go through the Challenge Stages, you have a time limit to shoot a certain
number of balloons, can't accelerate the outcoming balloons and Tuxedo Kamen
will help you if you call him, stages with [P] mark are puzzle stages, which
have no outcoming balloons and you'll have to figure out how to clean the
screen. There are 3 courses, and if you want to have more fun, start with the
easy one. Then, let's being to play! I don't know japanese enough to translate
it literally, but that's the basics...

Ok, jumping the explanation or not, right after you'll receive three options
(chousensurukoosu wo erande ne, which means choose a course to try on), which
are: easy (yasashiikoosu), normal (futsuukoosu), and hard (muzukashiikoosu),
and koosu means course, of course =P
Easy: stage 01 to 20
Normal: stage 21 to 40
Hard: stage 41 to 60

Next screen will have you choosing the Sailor you want to use, so choose your
favorite one, or a prettier one, I don't care, there are no different powers,
so any will be fine to play.

Options:
- Super Sailor Moon (suupaaseeraamuun, honmei Tsukino Usagi)
- Super Chibi Moon (suupaachibimuun, honmei sumooruredi, Small Lady)
- Sailor Mars (seeraamaasu, honmei Hino Rei)
- Sailor Mercury (seeraamaakyurii, honmei Mizuno Ami)
- Sailor Jupiter (seeraajupitaa, honmei Kino Makoto)
- Sailor Venus (seeraaviinasu, honmei Aino Minako)
- Sailor Uranus (seeraauranus, honmei Ten'ou Haruka)

Of course you don't need to read, their pictures are there...

At the beginning of any stage, Tuxedo Kamen will say "yo~i, suta~to!", which
means "well, start!" and then you start shooting them. Quite simple for an
idea...

  VIII- How do I read the FAQ?                                        [00008]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Puzzle Stage / Challenge Stage: Which one you're facing.

Time: You must finish any stage under the given time.

How much: the number of balloons you have to shoot to finish, or, more
specific, your objective.

Shrinking: In Story or Versus mode, your space shrink when the opponent's
number of balloons destroyed go 40, but in Stage Clear Mode, it can vary from
50, 40, to 5, 1.

Difficulty: from 1 to 10 asterisks, the more, the harder.

Screen: You can see the initial screen here as the game shows. Or if it's
empty, I won't put anything. Balloons are:

B = blue balloon
Y = yellow
P = pink
G = green
M = maroon, or brown
X = gray
b, y, p, g, m? small balloons

make yellow form the plus sign, which is the heart item, with this, you'll be
able to shoot a lot of grays without detransforming.

start with the two pairs of blue, then pinks, then middle blues, and then, you
go with.. no, not yellows, with 28, any yellow will make you lose! So go with
the blues in the bottom, with that, you're free of shrinking.

of time to waste. You can go fancy forming a color shot, it makes it even

How to do: wait for maroons to gather in the bottom, shoot blue first. Then
maroon, yellow, and finally green. You don't need vertical power. If you use
it, you'll probably waste the blue combo and get stuck with balloons behind
gray. Or worse, you'll de-transform. There is no need to worry about the tower
of gray on the right.

How to do: by managing to understand the problem here. First shoot all blues.
Then, when they start coming, you can keep the color you see the most on
screen, so you won't be stuck with this middle pillar. Colors will help you a
lot when coming, as this is easy mode yet. Don't be afraid of de-transforming,
you won't have problems reducing the pillar by three floors at the beginning.

After this stage you'll get a screen with Easy Course Clear 
(yasashiikoosukuria) and a big Congratulations (omedetou), Luna will say:

- futsuukoosu ni chousensuru?
Which means exactly
- from now on it will get slightly harder
- can you try on to Normal Course?

You'll choose the first option (chousensuru), of course, the walkthrough is
for the harder parts! Don't choose Give up (yameru), or else your score will be
reseted to 0 when you start the next course, after going through Intro, Title
screen and menu. Let's move on, shall we?

How to do: so many options. So many ways to lose. Well, on to the solution. You
see, the horizontal item can help you, and the vertical cannot. You already
know the reason. Lines will shrink quickly, so taking out a column will make
the others reach you and it's over. Start by using the yellow horizontal and
take the peaks away with it. Next, get the pinks out, and don't bother
remembering what this item do, it's useless. And then, the blue big plus, you
need energy. Now, you took out 14, the 15th need to be the little pinky on
left? No! Shoot the yellow big plus right away! Pinky is a trap. Finally,

quickest way to lose. Using on pinks won't help either, and don't bother
thinking about blues. Vertical shot is useless too. Camon, what is left? Give
up (yameru)? ... this IS the hardest stage so far. But the solution is right in
front of you. It's screaming "Shoot me!" and you will. First, take off what you
can from fourth column. This will give you a shootable gray. And now get the
color shot... and shoot the gray! Satisfied with the results? You can do it
anytime the scenario let you, so use it. ... hard?

How to do: you can't do whatever you want here. The easier way is cleaning up
the field at the beginning. There will be a lot of grays coming, you don't want
to use Kamen to clean your good combos later, right? If you need, use him.
Especially when the bottom is filled with gray. Well, then, it will get hard
with grays coming on the same columns, but you can save yourself by being quick
dealing with colored balloons and Kamen-ing the field a lot. Be extra-careful
after 120. Don't even think about detransforming here. The sailor will get too

How to do: after these last two stages, this one is pretty easy. Aim for the
horizontals you can see on the field already, with the stage clean, this will
be a piece of cake,... except that you'll have to make most balloons grow first
to take them out. There will be a lot of time left when you win, believe it.

Right after stage 60, you'll get a slightly different screen, almost the same,
except for Luna's words. Well, it's Hard Course Clear (muzukashiikoosukuria)

Which means
- congratulations for clearing all stages!

Well, the ending will show up, exactly like the Story Mode ending...

...and then the credits. I enjoy this music.

How to do: you can see how a special stage looks.. and you'll even see how they
can be hard when you try it out some times. Ok, this one is actually easy.
Because you can easily form a gray killer. maroons there are asking you to take
out the middle one. So, four shots on the second column, and then grab the
horizontal item, and use it on your dug hole. You can clean the field one by
one, and there will be time to spare.

How to do: another stage with many colors not making combos. This one has fewer
possibilities, if you start shooting anything, you'll be stuck with a diagonal
gray wall. But breaking through it isn't hard. The hard part is being stuck
with one horizontal and one vertical item, and believe it or not, that's all
you need. That and a detransforming. Ok, the solution: step 1: shoot the yellow
right in front of you, and then give three shots to the sixth column. See the
blues planting the bomb to your diagonal wall?

How to do: I should give this stage more than 10 asterisks. This is really
tricky. You have six balloons for almost every line and each five you blow,
another line shrinks! They really came up with this: the impossible! Forget it,
even I couldn't do it. ... ok, gotcha, there is a solution. There is a
possibility for the impossible to become possible. Well, let's solve the mess:
Step 1: horizontal shot the second row, like this:

It didn't took me that much to figure out one solution: the anihilation of
maroons. first, take out the third row with the horizontal shot you can get

you'll die squeezed. That seems to be the problem here. Now, onto the solution.
First, this stage is really hypnotizing. When you try something and lose, you
tend to try the same thing on and on, and get nowhere. But the solution is
exactly behind this hypnosis: first you have to use the three yellows on right
to the horizontal shot and take out the main gray wall, de-transforming. You'll
get:

The yellows. Shoot them already. And use it on the only place that doesn't make
you lose... that lonely pinky there:

this horizontal item, all for free. But after trying many combinations, you'll
see that these free things aren't getting you to any point of the solution? So,
let's start working this out:

Some minutes will pass (two, at least) and the screen will change.
