(06/22/04) _______________________________________________________________________________ I. Introduction _______________________________________________________________________________ Who am I? I'm Frankomatic. A college student with too much time on his hands. A gamer. A loser dork. All these things can be applied to me quite easily and correctly. I'm also here to (hopefully) give you a nice and complete guide to this DBZ game. Why a DBZ game, you might ask? Mainly because I wanted to do an FAQ for a game that doesn't have too much coverage as my first FAQ, and also, because most DBZ games aren't very good, but I enjoyed myself quite a bit with this one, and I'd like to help anyone out that might be having trouble with it. Now, this game is Japanese, and likely very difficult to find an actual cartridge of nowadays. I will say that there are roms, both translated and un- translated, floating about the internet. However, I won't supply you with any or give you any links, so don't even ask. With all that out of the way, on with the show! _______________________________________________________________________________ II. Battle System & Controls (Bsa) _______________________________________________________________________________ While the dialogue part of the game with its low level of interactivity (or interest, if you can't read Japanese) actually makes up the lion's share of the time spent in it, the battle system is the part that actually matters, since losing here will end your game. First off, we need the controls: A: Ki attacks. B: Punch/Kick attacks. X: Strong/Power attacks. Y: Counter attacks. B+Y: Stunning attack. A+X: Super Attack. L+R: Power up. Now, for how it all works. Each attack type beats one, loses to one, and ties with itself and another. Super Attacks and Stun Attacks work differently, but I'll get to those in a second. Here's a table for easy reference. Attack type | Beats | Loses to | Ties | Ki attack | Power | Punch/Kick | Counter | Punch/Kick | Ki | Counter | Power | Power/Strong | Counter | Ki | Punch/Kick | Counter | Punch/Kick | Counter | Ki | Super attacks beat EVERY normal attack. All of them. The only thing that it is guaranteed to lose to is the Stun attack. The Stun attack, being the opposite of the Super, loses to everything aside from the Super and itself. If a Super attack meets a Super attack, however, a beam battle will occur. Depending on which side had more Ki before firing the attack, one beam might break through to hit one of the combatants, or they'll both just explode in the middle in a draw. As for the flow of battle, the screen is split into three parts. The bottom features your 'attack' bar, which shows the attack you chose to use, your ki, and your life remaining. The middle ground is where all the action takes place, and at the top is the name of your opponent and his chosen attack. While really being non-stop, the battles actually are sort of round based. Between attacks, you usually get a few seconds to power up with L+R, but sometimes your opponent will fire off a few attacks in a row. You'll be able to see your opponent's attack for a few seconds before he actually uses it, so you can choose how to counter appropriately. The attack bars are color-coded. If yours turns blue after you pick, you'll damage your opponent. If it turns pink, you'll be hit, and if it turns green, the round was a draw. Since you can't see your opponent's health or really know how much damage you did, all you can really do is charge up as much as you can each round, and keep on fighting until it ends. If you're quick enough with your reactions and memorize the table, you can go through most fights without getting hit at all! _______________________________________________________________________________ III. Menu Translation (Msa) _______________________________________________________________________________ The first menu you'll likely ever see is the start menu after the title screen. If this is your first time playing, there will be 2 choices. The top is to start a new game, and the bottom is to go into the options. If you have any saved games, a third option will appear that takes you to the saved games, which makes the order as follows, from top to bottom: Continue, New Game, Options. The saved games screen is pretty self explanatory, as there are only three slots, so I'll move on to the options next. This screen is simple enough, the first choice is to switch your sound between Stereo and Mono, and the second option is a sound test. You can hear any of the songs in the game right here, and there aren't really that many of them. My personal favorites are numbers 1, 2, 4, 6, 14, and 16. If you pick New Game, you get two more choices. The top takes you into a simple naming screen, where you name the Player, his Rival, his Friend, and two others that I'm not sure how to translate. After being satisfied with this and ending a bunch of times, you go into the game proper. The other option under New Game is 'Password'. The purpose of this screen is to put the password that you got from the end of Super Gokuden I in, which gives you boosted stats from the start and, I believe, Goku's last Power attack. If you haven't beaten Gokuden I, don't bother going in here since it seems that the only way to get out if you don't know the password is to reset. The other menu set you'll see is the in-game pause menu, which is accessed by pushing start during the DIALOGUE portion of the game. Pressing start during a battle just pauses the game, so that's not what we're looking for. The first screen you get here shows which character you happen to be using, and his Life, Starting Battle Power, and Max Battle Power on the left side, in that order. Under this, it shows the number of battles you've played, followed by the number you've won. And finally, it shows how long you've been playing the current game and how much time you have invested into the file as a whole. At the upper right, you can see the controls for the menu. A selects and option, and X or B move you back a level (or exits the menu system entirely, from this screen). On the middle right, you have the rest of your menu screens, which I'll explain in order. The first is your game stats. At the top it shows a number of dragon balls. I'm not entirely sure what this signifies, other than you get more of them as your stats get closer to 100% complete. In the middle, you are shown you actual stats. Number of Events you've seen (out of 219), Number of Attacks you've earned (out of 64), and number of quizzes you've answered correctly (out of 100). Beneath this, you've got the dragon balls again, though this time it shows how many the others you named in the beginning have in relation to you, as well. That's it for this screen! The next is your techniques screen, where you can view both what techniques you have set to the various button combinations, and what techniques you've earned in each class. To cycle through what you have equipped, press X. To see what you have for each class, move the controller to the appropriate button, and press the A button. To earn more attacks in each class, you just have to keep using the ones you currently have, and after enough uses, new attacks will open up. I'm not sure how many it takes for each, exactly, but it goes pretty fast. You can also use this screen to change what attacks you have on each button. To do this, X through to the class you want to play with, then move the control box to the option to the left of the various buttons and press A. This will move your box down into the button list. Pick the one you wish to change, and press A. This will take you to that button's tech list. Pick the one you wish to place there, and press A again. The attack has been changes, hooray for you! One last note for this screen, is that attacks with a higher percentage next to them are the stronger ones. They use more of your stored Ki, and therefore do more damage. Also, Goku's final X button attack is unavailable through normal means, and I believe you can only get it if you entered the password from Super Gokuden I at the beginning. That ends the techniques screen! Next up is the event list. Since that's a different part of the FAQ, I'll just give you the controls here. X moves forward a page, Y moves backwards one, and A and B both quit back to the main menu. Short and sweet, no? Next comes Tech List, which basically shows you your techniques in the same format as the Event List. If a tech is blackened out, you haven't earned it yet. The controls work exactly the same as in the event list, so just look up a few lines to see how it's done. Also note that you can see both characters' attack lists here, regardless of whom you're currently using. Finally, we get to the attack stats list. This simply shows you how many times you've used each attack type and what level each is currently at. A and B both quit you out of here, and those are the only controls. And that, my friends, ends the very long-winded explanation of the various menus in this Japanese game. If nothing else, I hope at least this helps someone out there out a bit. _______________________________________________________________________________ IV. Walkthrough _______________________________________________________________________________ Ah, the meat of the guide. The part many of you might be here to see, unless you were only here for the previous section. To be completely honest, a walkthrough isn't really needed for this game, but I'm going to give a basic story gist, as well as the story branches and quiz answers as they occur. I'll also do my best to point out anything you might want to know about the battles, as well. Before we get started, there are a few things to explain. The Quizzes that come up at various points in the game have three selections, and have no effect on the game other than raising your 'Quiz' stat when you get them right. There are also choices with only two options, and these are the important ones as they allow you to change to way the story branches out. ******************************************************************************* On the story branching issue, if you see something surrounded in stars like this block of text, it ONLY occurs if you're playing from a clear game save file. This file allows you to get extra events that you wouldn't see in the first play, and allows you to pick what section you wish to start in (Piccolo, Saiyans, or Freeza). ******************************************************************************* Now, with all of that out of the way, it's time to get this thing a-rollin'! Piccolo Saga (Psa) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Three years after the battle with Demon King Piccolo, the twenty-third World Martial Arts Tournament is about to begin. Outside the arena, Master Roshi and Launch are the first to arrive, followed closely by Bulma, Oolong, and Puar. A short conversation leads to the discovery that Yamcha left to train on his own, as did Krillin. Just then, someone wearing a turban arrives, who recognizes the whole group. He asks where Tenshinhan, Krillin, and Yamcha are, leading the group to discover that this is Goku (aided by the obvious hair when he removes the turban). Being the simpleton that he is, Goku doesn't realize how much he's grown, and is curious about Bulma's red lips, leading us to our first Quiz question. The proper choice is Y, to ask Bulma if she's ill. Tenshinhan, Krillin, Yamcha, and Chaotzu (though nobody cares about him) arrive and, amusingly enough, nobody greets them. Krillin mentions that he's grown up, leading to the second Quiz question. Hit B to make Goku mention that Krillin is looking well, and the newly arrived group then recognizes Goku for who he is. The scene moves inside the stadium, where everyone talks about their uniforms and the fact that Goku no longer has his tail. Goku suddenly goes silent, and the reason for this is that he spots a very familiar looking green fellow. Krillin and Yamcha aren't sure what's up, but Tenshinhan, having been present for the battle with Demon King Piccolo, recognizes something about this guy. He leaves with nothing more than a smirk, and Tenshinhan asks if he was related to Piccolo. ******************************************************************************* Which leads us right into our first alternate story branch! Quick, wasn't it? Choice X is the one that sidesteps the issue as Goku did in the manga and keeps things moving smoothly. Y, on the other hand, just flatly tells Tenshinhan that he IS Piccolo, causing him to run off, Mafuba him into a bottle, and die. Which, of course, leads to everyone dying horribly when Radditz shows up years later. Game over. Hope you're happy with yourself! ******************************************************************************* Goku tells Ten not to mention anything to the others so as not to worry them. Then a particularly lovely girl sidles on up to say hello to Goku, leading to a story branch! Choice Y causes Goku to not remember this particular girl, which pisses her off greatly and also happens to be what happened in the manga. Using X, meanwhile, will cause Goku to remember that this is Chi Chi, and that he promised to marry her. The only change this makes is that when the time comes for she and Goku to fight, she'll forfeit instead of fighting. Take your pick, the guide will go on as if choice Y was chosen, though. The unknown girl yells at Goku for not remembering her and storms off, leaving Krillin quite jealous that his friend gets all the girls. After this, the elimination rounds begin! All of the main characters end up in different groups thanks to a little help from Chaotzu. Goku's first opponent is none other than his first opponent from the previous tournament, and a quiz! The answer for this one is X. Goku's opponent recognizes him and vows revenge for his humiliating defeat of the past. This inevitably leads to Goku defeating him in one hit. His friends are surprised at his newfound power and skill, but Piccolo is less than impressed. Krillin, Yamcha, and Ten win their fights with similar ease, but Chaotzu is defeated. By an odd, robotic man with a familiar pony tail, no less. Ten recognizes him as Tao Pai Pai, the brother of his former master that Goku thought he had defeated. A quiz comes up after some idle threats and a question from Krillin, and the answer is X. Tao Pai Pai accuses Ten of becoming a traitor by going to Master Roshi and Ten says that he never studied under Roshi. One idle threat later, and Tao Pai Pai goes off to bug someone else. Elsewhere, Piccolo wins his match easily. Goku defeats his final opponent and gets into the finals, along with another quiz. Answer this one with B and continue on your merry way. Ten, Yamcha, Krillin, Piccolo, and Chi Chi qualify as well. The final match is between a geeky dude and a masked man, ending with the geeky dude winning by accident. Outside, the masked man reveals himself to be Yajirobe. Inside the building, the announcer makes his first appearance, and the battle order is drawn. Ten vs Tao Pai Pai, Goku vs Anonymous (Chi Chi), Krillin vs Ma Junior (Piccolo), and Yamcha vs Shen (Geeky man). Back outside, the fighters brief the others on what all went down. A quiz comes up, and the answer is Y. Crane Master shows up immediately after this and be his usual annoying self. Once the old men finish arguing, the fighters are called back into the stadium, and that's where we go. Goku shows Yamcha and Krillin a Senzu bean, which they already know all about since they climbed Korin's tower while he was with Kami. Krillin notes that he thought Yajirobe would show up at the tournament, and the defeated fighter cusses him out from in the bushes. Finally, the tournament begins! First up are Ten and Tao Pai Pai, and to make a long story short, Ten wins and the Crane hermit leaves with Tao in shame. Next up is the first fight you as the player get to control! Battle with Chi Chi --------------------- Super Move: None. Stun Move: None. Chi Chi is the game's 'gimmie' fight. She tends to use mostly counter type attacks, but sometimes throws in a Power or Punch/kick move to mix things up. While it IS possible to lose, you almost have to try from the tiny amount of damage her attacks do. Also, if you do lose, the game doesn't end here. Instead, Piccolo wins the tournament, and you're thrown into battle with him with weaker stats than you would've had. ---------------------- After the fight, Chi Chi reveals herself to be Chi Chi, and Goku remembers his promise to marry her. After a little confusion over what marriage is, a Quiz comes up. Answer B or else Chi Chi will kill you. The ring is vacated, and the next combatants, Krillin and Piccolo, take their places. The fight takes to the air, and Krillin nearly gets knocked from the ring before saving himself with flight. Answer the immediately following quiz with X. Piccolo gives Krillin something that could be interpreted as a compliment, and then the fight continues anew. After being given a good whack, Krillin forfeits. Next up is Shen and Yamcha, which everyone assume Yamcha will win. Except for Yajirobe, who seems to know something about Shen. Much as Yajirobe predicts, Yamcha doesn't fare too well. Goku starts to pick up on something after Shen mentions not being human, and Yamcha finally lands a hit with his Sokidan before being knocked from the ring. Goku puts two and two together and figures out that Shen is Kami in disguise. And now, we move into the second fight of the game! Battle with Tenshinhan Round 1 ------------------------------ Super Move: Kikoho Stun Move: Taioken Note that this battle is the only one where the combatants come in with a flashy flip. This fight isn't too much different than Chi Chi other than Ten will mix his attack types up more, and can actually use ki attacks. Remember to use your stun move if he's going to try a Kikoho, then pound him with whatever you like. He also has his Volleyball Fist combo as a bonus for old school DB fans, but it's pretty rare. It's considered a Power attack for the game mechanics, as well. After a short fight, the action will break. ------------------------------- After Ten makes the comment that Goku hasn't gained any speed over the last three years, the fight breaks. Goku removes his underclothes, which Ten is surprised by the massive weight of, and we go back into battle once more! Battle with Tenshinhan Round 2 ------------------------------ Super Move: Kikoho Stun Move: Taioken Note that despite the fact that the game just said he removed them, Goku's sprite is still wearing the blue weighted clothes in battle! Continuity issues aside, this is pretty much the same as last time, except it'll be even faster because now you can charge up to 800 ki. Also, if you want to see his Volleyball Fist, he sometimes starts this round out with one, so there you go. Be warned that it'll take off 2/5ths of your life, though. ------------------------------ Ten mentions a new technique as the battle closes, and then proceeds to split into four of himself, and takes up stations at the four corners of the ring. After a failed attempt at escaping the twelve eyes, Goku says he's found two flaws in the attack. A Taioken blinds all four of the Tens, and a quiz pops up shortly after. Answer with X to be correct, and Goku knocks all of the quarter powered Tens out of the ring, winning the fight. Chi Chi then speaks, and another quiz comes up. The answer to this one is X again. Following a short conversation between the defeated Krillin, Ten, and Yamcha, Goku goes inside to talk with Kami. Kami's there to kill Piccolo, since he doesn't think Goku will be able to do it now that he knows that when one dies, they both die. The answer to the quiz that comes up after he explains this is B. Kami goes to face Piccolo, and Goku watches on. The fight is fairly even, and nobody is surprised that they lost as they watch. Kami realizes that he can't win with the body he borrowed, and reveals his final course of action after a short argument with Piccolo. A bottle is thrown down, and Kami uses Mafuba to try and trap Piccolo. Piccolo reverses it, and Kami sheds the body he borrowed before being trapped in the bottle. Piccolo wins. After some hilarity with Shen, Goku confronts Piccolo and demands the bottle from him. Instead of handing it over, Piccolo swallows it, so now Goku will have no choice but to kill him if he wants it back. Goku explains the situation to the others, and explains that the other "demon" was Kami, guardian of the earth. Everyone decides to rely on Goku to win, but Piccolo comes back declaring that he'll win. After this, the final match is set to begin. Krillin asks if Goku is confident that he'll win, and Goku responds by selecting X at the quiz prompt. Our first save point comes up now! The selections here are as follows. X lets you save, Y adds a small amount to your max power, and B adds 100 more to your life. If you're new to the game (and not using an emulator), I'd suggest saving here. Otherwise, take the life or the power. The battle begins almost immediately after this. Battle with Piccolo Round 1 --------------------------- Super Move: Kiko in the translated ROM. Stun Move: Arm Stretch. Ah, good old Piccolo. The first fight that can actually be difficult, fitting for how the fight was in the manga. Piccolo mixes up his attacks quite well, and he's got a lot of stamina to wear down. Make sure you watch out for his stun attack, as he'll generally throw something nasty at you if it works. At full power, Goku's Kamehameha and his Kiko will stalemate. Lastly, MAKE SURE that you stop his combo attack if it comes up. This WILL kill you even if you're at full health. The fight will eventually break for you in the form of Piccolo and Goku having a quick beam battle that Goku wins. --------------------------- Goku's powerful attack fails to damage Piccolo other than tearing up his clothes a bit. Piccolo announces that he's Piccolo, and the entire audience freaks out and runs off. He then proceeds to grow to epic proportions, which doesn't phase Goku at all. Of course, the only logical response to this is for Piccolo to become even larger, which he does. Goku then proceeds to jump down his throat and retrieve the bottle, which he tosses over to Ten for opening. Kami is released, and Piccolo's power is tempered by his presence, causing him to shrink back down. The fight continues to rage on until Piccolo fires a tracking attack at Goku, who manages to maneuver about it enough to make it damage Piccolo's arm instead. Piccolo responds by removing it, growing a new one, and destroying the whole place. Goku survives, and we're back in the fight! Battle with Piccolo Round 2 --------------------------- Super Move: Kiko in the translated ROM. Stun Move: Arm Stretch. He's much weaker this time around, but fights mostly the same. Hurry up and take him down a peg. I'll wait. ---------------------------- Goku thinks he's won, but Piccolo blasts through his shoulder. One short skirmish later, Goku's down with broken arms and legs, and Piccolo fires a killing blow. Everyone thinks Goku is dead, but Krillin spots something in the sky! Not a bird, not a plane, but Goku using the flight technique! He crashes headlong into Piccolo, and is named champion of the world. Yajirobe appears and gives Goku a senzu to make him all better. Goku jumps about like a happy child because he won, and we see Kami silently approach Piccolo. ******************************************************************************* Alternate branch alert! Choosing X is the canon story choice, and causes Goku to stop Kami. Choosing Y causes Kami to kill Piccolo and the world to be destroyed by Radditz. Good going, Kami. ******************************************************************************* Goku stops Kami, stating that the dragon balls would become inactive if he died. Kami doesn't think he deserves his job, but Master Roshi convinces him otherwise. A quiz follows, and the answer is X. ******************************************************************************* Followed immediately by a story branch if you're a second timer! X is once again the choice to follow the proper story by giving Piccolo a senzu. If you choose Y, Goku immediately leaves with Chi Chi. This changes things a bit cosmetically in the Radditz story. You don't see him confront Piccolo, and Piccolo doesn't come to Roshi's Island. He shows up after your first fight with Radditz instead. ******************************************************************************* Another Senzu is requested by Goku, and he gives the bean to Piccolo who quite happily tells Goku that he'll kill him next time before leaving. Chi Chi shows up, and Kami offers Goku the job of being earth's guardian. Goku refuses, and then is prompted with another quiz and calls the Kintoun by pressing Y. The two young lovers head off to get married, and we go to another save point. Save and have yourself a little party, you've just completed one saga of the game! Done celebrating? Well then, quit slacking and let's get on with this thing. Saiyan Saga (Vsa) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quick note before we get started. If you select the Vegeta option in a clear save, you oddly skip right past all of the Radditz section. No idea why they cut him out of the Saiyan arc but hey, that's how it works. On we go! Five years after the tournment, a metallic object crashes into some poor sap's field and he drives off to see what it was (driving directly over a tree, if you watch carefully). A man with half a set of shades and really big hair pops out of the spherical pod, scaring the poor farmer and wondering why Kakarot hasn't killed everyone yet. Moments later, the world has lost a farmer and the alien man flies off towards a large power he discovers on his scouter. Unfortunately for him, this power happens to be Piccolo, not the Kakarot he's looking for. Piccolo tries to put up a fight and has no luck, but is saved from retribution by the fact that the alien has the attention span of a fly and spots another large power. Our favorite green man is left wondering how such strength is possible, and we leave him too. Meanwhile, over at the Kame House, Bulma arrives to visit Roshi and Krillin. After slapping Roshi around a bit, the group starts talking about stuff only to be interrupted by Goku and his incessant quizzing. Select B, and everyone comes out to greet him. He then proceeds to shock the world by introducing his young son Gohan. Bulma asks for his age and notes his politeness, and then another quiz comes up, answer X for this one. The tail growing out of his rear is noticed soon after, and everyone freaks out until Goku assures them that the family goes to bed early and that they never see the moon. After some whining about how Chi Chi doesn't let Goku train the 4 year old boy, we learn that the 4 star dragon ball is on Gohan's hat. And then Radditz shows up to ruin everything. He proclaims that Goku looks like his father, that he was supposed to kill everyone on the planet, and that his name is Kakarot. Krillin assumes that he's drunk, only to get pounded into a wall by Radditz's tail. Goku remembers nothing of this, but mentions that he got hit on the head when he was little after some prompting from Radditz. Radditz tells Goku that he's a Saiyan, one of the last remaining members of a warrior race. Oh, and that they're brothers. A quiz comes up after that little atom bomb of a revelation, and the answer is X. Some explanation of how the Saiyans go about busting up planets is given, and Radditz mentions that Saiyans show their full power when a full moon is out. Goku's STILL clueless, and Radditz realizes that his tail is missing and berates him. Finally deciding that he's heard enough BS for one day, Goku gets pissed and yells at him for a bit before being interrupted by another quiz. Select Y to tell him to go home, and everyone agrees with you. Except for Radditz, of course. He mentions that their planet got destroyed, and that only four Saiyans are left. He asks for Goku's help in conquering another planet, and Goku tells him to jump up a rope. Then Gohan is noticed. Another quiz, another Y answer. Radditz decides to take Gohan instead, since dear old dad won't help. Goku naturally doesn't like this idea much, and fails miserably in stopping Radditz from abducting him. Radditz tells Goku to kill one hundred people and leave them on the island by tomorrow if he wants his son back and then leaves. Goku immediately calls the Kintoun to follow, but the others talk him down. An idea is formed about grabbing onto Radditz's tail to weaken him so they can beat him, and Roshi and Krillin agree to go help. Despite the fact that Goku tells them that they can't be revived a second time. Using the dragon radar, they manage to find where Radditz ran off to. Piccolo then arrives, saying that there's no way Goku and friends will win. Surprised to see him, Goku wonders why he even bothered to show up at all. Piccolo offers to join up with Goku, as he thinks that the two of them working together is the only thing that'll stop Radditz. He also lets Goku know that this is just because Radditz interferes with his plans to take over the world, not to actually, you know, be helpful. ****************************************************************************** Following this, you get a story choice! X accepts the plan and follows the story. Y rejects the plan and causes Piccolo to fly off and sulk. Don't worry, he'll show up later anyway. Assuming you choose X, you immediately get ANOTHER story choice. Choosing X goes off to fight, while Y gets you a little training battle with Piccolo. I won't cover the fight, since it has no impact on anything, win or lose. ******************************************************************************* Goku accepts the deal, gets the radar from Bulma, and the two of them fly off to fight Radditz. Intelligently, Roshi and the others decide to follow them in a plane. Back in Podland, Gohan won't shut up, so Radditz locks him in his space pod. He then sees a power of 710 coming from the pod, and assumes his scouter is malfunctioning. At least, until it spots Goku and Piccolo closing in, and they actually arrive. He questions how Gohan's power can be so high at his age, but then turns to confront Goku and Piccolo rather than strain his fighter brain on the issue. But first, we hit a save point! Make your choice and move on. Once you get back, Radditz wants to know how you found him. He wants to know so badly, that it makes a quiz pop up. Choose Y, and he'll say it doesn't matter anyway. He asks why Goku came (stupid question of the day), and Goku humors him and tells him he's there to get his kid back. After some more bickering, Piccolo gets tired of it and tells Radditz to shut up and put up, and that's just what he does. Battle with Radditz Round 1 ---------------------------- Super Move: Kikoha in translated ROM Stun Move: None? Note that you can charge up to 1000 (or more, if you've taken some power upgrades) now. Despite this new power, Radditz takes a lot of damage to knock down. He doesn't seem to have a stun move, so if you start to have trouble, just pound him with Kamehamehas, but it shouldn't be too bad. He relies mostly on Power and Ki attacks, so he's fairly predictable. The fight'll break after enough damage is given. ---------------------------- Goku and Piccolo aren't faring too well in this battle, while Radditz hasn't even broken a sweat yet. Piccolo asks if Goku has any new techniques in quiz form, and with a quick choice of B, Goku admits to his laziness. Smirking all the while, Piccolo mentions that he DID come up with a new Goku-killer, but he'll use it to stop Radditz. Unfortunately, Goku's going to have to fight him alone for a while to give Piccolo time to charge up the attack, and that's exactly what you go to do. Battle with Radditz Round 2 ---------------------------- Super Move: Kikoha in translated ROM Stun Move: None? Pretty much the same as the above fight, but your maximum ki has gone up to 1200 so it won't take quite as along. Goku gets too tired to continue after enough damage is dealt out. ----------------------------- Luckily for Goku, Piccolo's fancy new attack is fully charged, and the amount of power he's got scares Radditz quite heartily. He still dodges the attack, of course, but he notes that it would've killed him if it had hit. While he's busy talking like an idiot, Goku manages to grab hold of his tail, and tells Piccolo to charge up again. Radditz begins to plead with his brother, saying that he'll go home and all that jazz. Piccolo sees through this obvious bluff, but Goku's not known for his brains. ******************************************************************************* So he defers to you that have lead him to victory before! Choice X has Goku fall for the plan like a dope. This is, of course, what actually happens. Choice Y is far more interesting, as Goku calls him on his bluff. Radditz then proceeds to cut his tail when Piccolo fires, leaving Goku to die instead. Gohan busts out of the pod and kills Piccolo with his blind rage. Some time later, Vegeta, Nappa, Radditz, and Gohan return to earth and destroy everyone to death. Hooray for happy endings! ******************************************************************************* Goku lets go like the fool he is, and Radditz proceeds with the rib breaking. And the taunting, as well. Piccolo knows that he's powerless to do anything, and everything looks pretty hopeless. At least until Gohan breaks out of the space pod and kicks Radditz around like a paper bag. This mysterious surge of power instantly fades, and Radditz knocks him out after figuring out that his emotions fuel his power. He decides to kill Gohan before he can become a serious threat, only to be grabbed by Goku once more, this time in a full nelson. He tells Piccolo to charge up and fire once again, and Piccolo likes the fact that this will kill both of his major enemies in one go. Moments later, the brothers are both dying due to giant chest wounds. Words about the dragon balls and their wish granting powers are slipped, and Radditz's scouter delivers the information to two even stronger Saiyans, Nappa and Vegeta. Goku asks when they'll arrive, and after finding out that they have one year, Piccolo kills the talkative Radditz. Everyone else arrives shortly afterwards, and they're obviously upset by the fact that their friend is going to die. Goku ingeniously mentions that it's not fun to die, and Krillin says they'll revive him soon. The answer to the following quiz is Y, and then Goku dies and his body vanishes. Piccolo mentions the scouter's functions, and Bulma gets Krillin to get it for her so she can make it work in English. Piccolo then decides that he's going to take Gohan for training and nobody's going to stop him. Everyone has bad feelings about this, of course, and we fade to space. Nappa and Vegeta talk about how Radditz died, then decide to go to earth to wish to be immortal. A bit clich‚, but what're you going to do? Save screen time, you know what to do. Same death channel, a few death seconds later, we're in heaven! Even up in heaven you can't escape the woes of standing in line, but things get held up a bit by Goku and Kami. Kami wants Enma to let Goku go to see King Kai due to his service to the planet Earth. Goku, on the other hand, wants to know what happened to Radditz. Enma says he went to hell after getting beat down, and a quiz pops up and needs to be answered B. This makes Kami yell at you, but it's the right choice. Kami and Enma joke in pun form for a moment, and then Enma allows Goku to go to Snake Way. Goku is lead to Snake Way by his guide, and learns a bit about King Kai along the way. Once they arrive, Goku is surprised by the looks and length of the Snake. The guide tells him what to do, and a quiz pops up. Choose X to be correct and to have Goku give the guide a message for Baba, telling her to tell his friends not to wish him back for a year. He agrees, and we get a scene change. Back on Earth, Piccolo has brought Gohan out into the middle of nowhere. Gohan is, understandably, scared and crying. After a nifty little character change sequence, Piccolo tells him to shut up or he'll make him shut up. He adjusted to the father lifestyle quickly, didn't he? Nonetheless, this does shut Gohan up, and Piccolo explains that Goku is dead. The following quiz is answered with Y. An explanation of the dragon balls and the current situation is given, and Gohan is skeptical of his ability to help. So Piccolo does the logical thing and chucks him at a mountain, causing Gohan to unleash his hidden power and level the area. This freaks Piccolo right out, and Gohan is surprised that he caused such devastation himself. Piccolo says he'll teach Gohan how to control that power and then proceeds to assure the boy that he can do what he wants after the earth is safe. Gohan would also like to be trained by his dad, but Piccolo says he'd be too soft on his own son to train him properly. He's also kinda dead, so that's right out. Piccolo then ditches the poor kid in the middle of nowhere, telling him to survive for 6 months. The fact that there's a whole bunch of deadly beasts around is supposed to be comforting, and Piccolo mocks him further after you answer the quiz with X. After a short interlude with Kami and Mr. Popo, a save screen appears. I really recommend saving here, since there's an annoying mini game coming up. Once we return, take a moment to marvel over Gohan's mysterious new look. Approximately two seconds later, a T-Rex wanders on up to say Hi. And to kill Gohan and eat him. Thus starts the mini game that makes many people quit playing altogether. Dinosaur Evasion Game ---------------------- All right, the screen is set up as follows. The dinosaur is at the top of the landscape, and Gohan is on the bottom. Both the pictures will start moving back and forth, and the object is to use the X button to make Gohan jump and dodge when the dinosaur tries to bite him. I personally find it easier to try and time your X button presses so Gohan and the dinosaur stay on opposite sides of the landscape picture. That way, the dino will try to bite when their paths are crossing and miss 99% of the time. To get through this annoyance, you have to survive five rounds. The game ends with Piccolo wondering what they're going to do now that he watched Gohan die if you're hit 5 times. ----------------------- Did you make it through? If you did, Gohan finds himself up on top of a plateau and wondering how he got up there to begin with. Night falls, and Gohan finds some apples that seem to have appeared from nowhere. He complains of them being sour, and Piccolo sulks about it and flies off, saying he'll not help Gohan again. During a momentary interlude on Snake Way with Goku, we get another quiz question. The answer is B, and then we go right back down to Gohan again. The youngster worries about his current situation, and then spots the full moon in the sky. This leads him to transform into a giant ape, which solves the plateau problem easily enough. It also makes the area a whole lot flatter, scaring Piccolo nicely. Realizing that Gohan will likely destroy the earth himself at this rate, he destroys the moon, returning Gohan to normal. Then, just to make sure, he removes Gohan's tail and gives him new clothes and a sword to make up for it. We then go over to the Kame House, where Bulma has just fixed the scouter they took from Radditz's dead head. She then proceeds to wake up Roshi and Krillin to test it out. After discerning that Krillin is stronger than Roshi, Yajirobe shows up. He tells Krillin that Kami wants everyone to gather together for special training, and delivers the 'don't ressurect me yet' message before leaving. Chi Chi and the Ox King show up next and demand to know where Gohan and Goku are. Roshi tells them, Chi Chi faints, and we move to a save point. When we return, Krillin and the others battle Popo to show that they're worthy of Kami's training. We find out that six months have passed, Goku's still running down Snake Way, and Gohan has adjusted to his new life quite nicely! That T-Rex from before makes a return appearance, but now things are a little different. Revenge on the Dinosaur! ------------------------- This time, you're looking at the back of Gohan and the dinosaur. The object of this game is to hit the X button to jump up and hit the dinosaur ten times. If you manage to lose at this really simple task, you should probably just stop now. Mainly since it doesn't even seem to be possible. I tried to sit and lose to get a time limit, but I got bored of waiting before it could even happen. ------------------------- Once you've finished killing the defenseless dinosaur, Piccolo decides that it's time to train Gohan, and we switch back up to Goku on Snake Way. A character change screen later, and Goku finally makes it to the end of the road. And he finds nothing there. After a few moments of looking around in confusion, he spots a small planet up above and jumps to it, only to be slammed to the ground by some force. Goku then proceeds to meet a monkey, who he assumes is King Kai. After asking the monkey to train him and imitating him for a bit, the real King Kai appears and Goku looks like the idiot he is. King Kai is rather nonplussed that Goku doesn't get his jokes, so Goku fakes it. He requests for Goku to make him laugh before he'll train him, and a quiz comes up. Select choice Y and the blue man will laugh freely, along with agreeing to teach Goku to be a great jokester. This offer is turned down in favor of martial arts training instead. When Goku complains about how heavy he feels, King Kai mentions that his planet has ten times earth's gravity. Goku explains the situation, and King Kai tells him how much time they have to work with. Answer the quiz with B, and King Kai will quell Goku's worries. But then he'll wreck that by mentioning that even with the training, he might not be able to win. Goku complains of hunger (which King Kai mentions is weird since he's, you know, dead), and after a quick meal, Goku mentions that the place is boring. Finally, the first task is given, and that task is to catch Bubbles. King Kai mentions that doing this will help him to beat the gravity of the planet, and that the Saiyans train in similar gravity. A quiz follows, and the answer is X. Then it's game time! Catch Bubbles! --------------- This is a pretty simple one. Bubbles starts in the middle, and Goku is off to the right. Bubbles starts to move towards the left when the game starts, while Goku stays still. Pressing X rapidly will move Bubbles towards Goku. The object is to hit X fast enough to get Bubbles close enough to the right so that Goku can catch him. If you fail, you play again and the game gets slightly easier. I've never been able to catch him on the first try without using rapid fire, but it doesn't appear to make any difference anyway. --------------- King Kai is impressed with how fast Goku overcame the harsh gravity, and believes that he will be the one to learn Kaioken. He asks if you're ready for the training in quiz form, and after choosing Y, he tells Goku to be the best. And then immediately suggests a tea break. Which we get in the form of a convenient save point. After getting your wish granted or your save made, the gang up with Kami disperses to train on their own. Gohan has begun his training with Piccolo elsewhere which causes the characters to change. And now, we go into something you've all been waiting for! Training Guide, Part 1! ------------------------ This section covers the bit of training you do before the Saiyans arrive, and it starts with a story choice question by Piccolo! When you're playing as Gohan, you get questions before each fight. They choose the main attack type Piccolo will use, which determines which attack type you'll mainly level up. The choices here are as follows: First fight: X is Power attacks, Y is Punch/Kicks. Second Fight: X is Ki attacks, Y is Counter. As Goku, you get questions before each fight against King Kai, but the choices are the same for both each time. X means you'll gain extra Ki after the fight and Y gains you some extra life. The fights are simple (King Kai even uses the same pattern every time), so I won't go in depth. I'll instead make a list that shows how long this goes along with any points of interest marked alongside them. Gohan (Start with 10 power for this fight only.) Save Gohan Save Goku Save Goku Save Gohan Save Gohan Save Goku Save Goku Save Gohan Save Gohan Save Goku And then, we're done here! Move along, nothing to see. ------------------ Oh, sorry. Did I say we were done? One more before that! Learn to use Kaioken! ---------------------- You know you're here when a box of text comes up in the beginning of your fight with King Kai! To use Kaioken, charge yourself up to full power, and then press L+R again. Goku should turn pink and your Ki will skyrocket, but you'll lose 100 life points as well. You can use it up to 20 times if you've got the health for it. Go ahead and kill King Kai in one shot, you know you want to. ---------------------- After this fight, you get a two question choice. If you have a bit of patience, keep selecting X here until you learn all of Goku's attacks. If you want to get a move on, select Y. King Kai begins to talk about making the Genki Dama (Spirit Bomb according to the dubs) and we go right into another little minigame. Genki Dama Practice! ---------------------- There'll be a brick zooming back and forth across the little landscape. The idea is to press X when it's in the middle, or over that little well if you're more for visual directions. If you get it on your first round of the game, King Kai will be quite surprised at your ability to use it, but there's no real difference otherwise. If you miss three times, King Kai will speak, and then you'll try again. ----------------------
King Kai speaks about the Genki Dama some more and cautions Goku not to use it
unless it's absolutely necessary. Goku responds by choosing B in the quiz and
King Kai calculates that the Saiyans will arrive the next day. Which is bad
because it'll take Goku one day longer than that to get back home. Goku
contacts Master Roshi on earth and the dragon is summoned. After some fooling
around with wishing for the Saiyans to die, Goku has his life restored and
immediately begins to head back down Snake Way. King Kai expresses a bit of
worry, and then we get to a new save point. I'd recommend saving here if only
to avoid having to do all that training over again.

Nappa and Vegeta arrive immediately after this. Their pods land in a city and
Nappa proceeds to destroy it. Vegeta admonishes him and then the pair heads off
to a pair of strong powers which turn out to be Gohan and Piccolo. After the
character change, the animals flee. Krillin shows up a moment later and
introduces himself to Gohan. He asks about training with Piccolo, and the
answer to his quiz is X. Unfortunately, answering this question causes Nappa
and Vegeta to show up.

The Saiyans recognize Piccolo's voice, and point out that he's not human. Since
the green skin, antennae, and pointy ears weren't enough of a giveaway, this
surprises Krillin. Another quiz follows and the correct answer is B. Vegeta
asks if Piccolo made the dragon balls and Piccolo points out that he's a
fighter, not a magician. Kami has a bit of self revelation, but we don't care
about him so we'll leave that at that.

Nappa mocks the group's low power but Vegeta mentions that the scouter readings
are useless. Radditz died depending on his scouter, so they decide to remove
theirs. Six Saibamen are planted and then Ten, Chaotzu, and Yamcha finally
arrive at the battlefield. Vegeta decides that one on one matches would be
amusing and despite Piccolo's objections, Krillin convinces him to go along to
buy time for Goku to return.

Tenshinhan defeats his Saibaman opponent quite easily, much to Nappa's
disbelief. Yamcha steps up next and the pair seems to vanish to Gohan's eyes.
After some instruction from Piccolo, Gohan spots them in time for Yamcha to
win. Until the little hideous thing gets back up, latches onto him, and
explodes him to death.

Everyone is surprised by this sudden turn of events, and Krillin gets really
peeved. Vegeta's disrespect of the death ticks him off further and with a
mighty blast, all the Saibamen seem to fall, along with some shots taken at
Nappa and Vegeta. He notes that he missed one, however.

******************************************************************************
And we get a story choice right here! Choosing X makes Gohan call for help as
he did in the manga and everything will continue on normally from there.
Choosing Y makes him stand up to fight the Saibaman.

The Saibaman is a simple enough fight, but be warned that he uses his Super
Attack quite frequently. The changes this has on the story involves the three
part attack on Nappa succeeding, and Ten's final Kikoho killing the larger
Saiyan. Vegeta then takes on all three of them, killing Piccolo and maiming
Gohan and Krillin but good, right as Goku arrives.
*******************************************************************************

Piccolo saves Gohan from the rogue Saibaman and Gohan thanks him by selecting B
in the quiz. Piccolo basically blows him off and the Saiyans emerge once again,
completely unharmed by Krillin's attack. We then move to a save point.

Nappa steps up to fight the group when you return. He begins to gather his ki,
and the whole battlefield begins to tremble.

*******************************************************************************
And you may get a story choice! Choosing X is, once again, the choice that
stays faithful to the manga by having Gohan be fearful. Choice Y, however, is
much more interesting as it makes Goku appear. Way early.

This makes you skip right to his humorously easy fight against Nappa. Once it's
over, he aims his death blast at both Gohan and Chaotzu, and Piccolo and Ten
take it for their respective little buddies. Chaotzu's suicide attack finishes
Nappa off once and for all, and then all is back to normal.
*******************************************************************************

Nappa chooses Ten as his first target, nearly killing him in only two blows.
Chaotzu latches onto Nappa's back and explodes, intending to take Nappa with
him. The attack fails and Nappa is mostly unharmed. Ten begins to attack with
renewed fury, futile as it is, and Piccolo comes up with a plan to blindside
Nappa. Vegeta comments on it, and Piccolo warns him that things will be
different when Goku arrives.

The attack fails when Gohan flees instead of fighting, and Tenshinhan tries to
blindside Nappa with a final Kikoho. Nappa barely manages to block and Ten
dies, having used all of his life force in that final attack. Krillin cries out
for Goku's help while Kami realizes that his death is near. Nappa begins his
attack once again, and Gohan calls for his father by choosing X in the quiz. In
a moment of mercy, Vegeta calls Nappa off to question the group about Goku. He
finds out that Goku is Kakarot and decides to give him three hours to arrive.

Gohan apologizes for fleeing when he was needed but Piccolo doesn't want any
part of that. Krillin defends him, but Piccolo worries that Vegeta must be even
stronger for Nappa to fear him. Vegeta explains his reasons for waiting to
Nappa and we fade to a save.

Three hours pass without Goku's arrival. Just as the time limit for his friends
expires, Goku arrives at the check in station and is returned to earth by Kami.
On his way past Korin's Tower, he receives two senzus and eats one to restore
the power he lost flying down Snake Way. He then calls the Kintoun and heads
for the battle.

Piccolo comes up with a plan to grab Nappa's tail, which begins to work
properly but after you answer the quiz with X, you see that it fails. The grab
didn't weaken Nappa and Piccolo is knocked unconscious. Gohan is attacked and
Krillin intervenes, only to be knocked flat very quickly. Piccolo attacks Nappa
from behind to save Krillin, and then senses a large power coming towards them.

The gang recognizes the ki as Goku's and Vegeta puts his scouter back on to see
what they're babbling about. He is displeased when the scouter displays a power
level of 5000 approaching fast and orders Nappa to kill the others quickly,
deciding that they'll go to Namek to use their dragon balls instead.

*******************************************************************************
A story choice follows. Choosing X has Piccolo attack, and Y has Gohan attack
Nappa as happened in the Manga. If you have Piccolo attack, you skip the battle
with Nappa and Piccolo dies much faster.
*******************************************************************************

Gohan tells Piccolo to flee because they won't be able to use the dragon balls
if he dies, and then rushes to fight Nappa.

Battle with Nappa (as Gohan)
-----------------------------
Super Attack: Mouth Blast
Stun Attack: Kiai

A fairly standard battle, though even with all your new power, it'll likely
take a while to bring him down. His attacks can do a respectable amount of
damage if you aren't careful, but it's still not too bad.
-----------------------------

Nappa is very displeased that Gohan has managed to make a fool of him and fires
a deadly attack his way. Piccolo takes the attack full on and is mortally
wounded, saving Gohan from death. Piccolo tells Gohan to flee, and Kami
vanishes as Piccolo slowly dies. The former demon king is amused by the irony
of his death, and finally dies after telling Gohan not to die.

In a fit of rage, Gohan fires a Masenko blast towards Nappa with all of his
power only to have it knocked away like it was nothing. Gohan and Krillin
decide to accept their fate as Nappa approaches to finish the boy off. He is
stopped, however, by the arrival of Goku.

The third Saiyan revives Krillin and Gohan by splitting his other senzu for
them and warns the others to stand aside. Krillin convinces Gohan to do as his
father says, and Goku faces down Nappa and Vegeta. A quiz comes up that needs
to be answered with X, and then Goku begins to gather his strength, raising the
reading on Vegeta's scouter up to 8000. Nappa doesn't believe the reading and
moves in to attack.

Payback for Nappa!
-------------------
Super Attack: Mouth Blast
Stun Attack: Kiai

Nappa can do very little damage to you, and you can do a whole lot to him. This
will be one of the faster fights in the game. Especially if you take a few
moments to Kaioken up to max, which I recommend doing just because it's funny.
-------------------

Nappa is beaten and broken, left crawling to Vegeta for help. Vegeta does help
his partner, by killing him for losing. Goku tells Krillin and Gohan to leave
because of Vegeta's power, and they do so after telling Goku to fight Vegeta
somewhere else to save their friend's bodies. After some promises are made a
quiz comes up, so choose B to cause Goku and Vegeta to head off to a rocky
area. Fade to the save screen after a threat from Vegeta.

We return to even more boasting from Vegeta, and Goku actually shows a bit of
wit for a change. Then we go into battle once more.

Battle with Vegeta, as Goku
----------------------------
Super Attack: Garlic-ho
Stun Attack: Kiai

Another battle that's exactly the same as most of the others. Using Kaioken can
speed things up rather significantly, and reduce the damage his attacks do to
you. He also doesn't seem apt to use his super move in this battle, so don't
worry about it just yet.
----------------------------

Vegeta's very displeased with the fact that he's losing to a low level warrior.
Yajirobe, watching from a hiding place, is scared. Being the nice, levelheaded
fellow that he is, Vegeta decides to destroy the whole planet to sate his fury.
Looks like someone's forgetting about the fact that he needs oxygen to breathe
and an atmosphere to stave off explosive decompression! Goku and Vegeta
exchange super attacks and Vegeta is blown away by Kaioken x4 power.

Yajirobe comes out to congratulate a very battered and tired Goku, but flees
once again when Goku mentions that Vegeta's still alive. Up in the sky, Vegeta
rages a bit more before going to find the planet's moon. And then rages even
more when he finds that it's no longer around. He then returns to Goku and
tells him that destroying the moon was useless, and the quiz answer is X.
Vegeta explains the transformation process for a bit before making his own
moon. By the Kame House, Gohan and Krillin spot the fake moon and decide to
return to Goku.

Much like Gohan did earlier on in the game, Vegeta has transformed into a giant
ape. He lets Goku know that his power has been enhanced by a factor of ten.
This causes Goku to realize that the giant monster than killed his grandfather
was actually himself, followed by a quiz with the answer Y. He then attempts to
fight with Vegeta only to discover that it's hopeless.

A story choice comes up here. Choosing X causes Goku to try using Kaioken, and
choosing Y causes him to use Taioken. More flatly, choosing X causes you to
die, so unless you're looking for that, choose Y.

After temporarily blinding Vegeta, Goku begins to gather the energy to make a
Genki Dama. Vegeta recovers and Goku doesn't worry from the distance, only to
get blasted from afar before he can attack. Goku lost the spirit ball from that
attack and has nothing left to give. Just as everything looks completely
hopeless, Gohan and Krillin arrive and land a short distance away with a
character change.

They meet with a fleeing Yajirobe and decide that the only way they can win is
to remove Vegeta's tail. A quiz follows which needs to be answered with X and
the plan is set into motion. Gohan draws his attention while Krillin fires a
Kienzan, but Vegeta dodges the attack. Salvation comes in the unlikely form of
Yajirobe, who chops off Vegeta's tail before running away again. Goku
encourages Gohan to fight Vegeta, but he doesn't think he can do it until
Vegeta attacks the incapacitated Goku.

Battle with Vegeta as Gohan
----------------------------
Super Attack: Garlic-ho
Stun Attack: Kiai

Vegeta has mercifully been weakened a bit for this fight, but it still takes a
long while to win. His combo attack is actually pretty cool to watch if you can
take the 975 points of damage it deals. He'll occasionally attack more than
once without pausing to charge in between, so watch out for that. He'll
actually use his super attack and stun attack this time around, as well.
----------------------------

As Gohan and Vegeta battle, Goku gives his energy over to Krillin and shows him
how to form it into a Genki Dama. Krillin promises to hit Vegeta with it and
takes higher ground to do so, only to find that he and Gohan are moving really
fast. King Kai gives him some further instructions as Yajirobe screams for him
to attack. This alerts Vegeta to the danger and allows him to dodge the attack.
Goku tells Gohan to reflect it since he's pure of heart and the boy does so,
leaving Vegeta to face much pain.

Everyone assumes that the battle is over and begins to joke around, only to
have Vegeta wake up again to say hi. Being the easygoing fellow he is, Vegeta
blows up the entire area to kill everyone. He's too weak to actually kill them
all this way, however, but he does a serious number on them all. He notices
that Gohan's tail has returned but gets attacked by Yajirobe before he can take
care of it. Goku instructs Gohan to look at the false moon while Vegeta beats
on Yajirobe, and Gohan becomes a giant ape once more. Vegeta cuts his tail
quickly but then is smashed by the falling ape.

A severely wounded Vegeta calls for his ship only to be approached by an
equally wounded Krillin.

*******************************************************************************
And a story choice! X allows Vegeta to escape, following the manga and keeping
things moving. Y kills Vegeta and causes the game to skip ahead a bit to the
fight with Guldo, where Gohan and Krillin die without Vegeta to save them.

Both are decent choices, really.
*******************************************************************************

Goku begs for Krillin to let Vegeta go and Krillin agrees after a short
argument. Vegeta flees as he vows to get his vengeance while King Kai worries
about the root of all these troubles, and we fade to another save. Save your
game and pat yourself on the back, you've completed the Saiyan saga! Only one
more to go, and it's the longest of them all!

                             Freeza Saga (Fsa)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another quick note for those of you playing with clear data. If you choose
'Freeza' when you start the game, you'll start up at the landing on Namek,
skipping all the astral training and a few quizzes. Once again, not entirely
sure why, but it cuts out a rather tedious portion of the game for you.

The battle is over and the time to cleanup the aftermath has arrived. Bulma and
the other pick up the survivors and start to head for home. Bulma is crying
when Krillin mentions there possibly being a way to bring them all back. After
a stopover to pick up the bodies, Gohan wakes up and Chi Chi freaks out nicely.
Goku makes his presence known and Krillin finally explains his plan.

The plan is to go to Piccolo and Kami's home planet of Namek and to use the
dragon balls that they have. Bulma shoots the idea down by mentioning that they
have no idea where Namek is, so Goku asks King Kai. After a small
congratulatory statement, King Kai finds Namek and gives the coordinates. Bulma
then mentions that it'd take more than four thousand years (!) to get there by
spaceship, so Krillin suggests using the leftover Saiyan spacepod. He then
proceeds to produce a controller to call the pod as well, so Krillin saves the
day!

We now end up at a hospital where Goku notes that he'll take four months to
recover. Karin promises to bring him some Senzu beans in one and then Bulma
arrives, telling them to look at the TV. The news is talking about the spacepod
and Bulma decides to scare them with the remote control. A quiz comes up, so
choose B to have Goku complain about his view. Bulma then proceeds to mess up
and cause the pod to self-destruct rather than come to them, so things are
looking pretty hopeless.

Mr. Popo shows up after some yelling and says that he's found a spaceship that
he believes to be Kami's. The group decides to send Bulma along to check it out
and everyone discusses the turn of events while she's away. When she returns,
Bulma says that she can have it running in five days and that it'll only take
one month to get to Namek. Bulma has to go since she knows how to work the ship
and Krillin decides to go too. Goku's too injured to go.

Then Gohan decides that he wants to go too, in order to help Piccolo come back
to life. Answer the quiz with X to make Chi Chi flip out at you. After she
yells for a bit, answer the new quiz with X to shut her up. Gohan attempt to
reason with her once again and she finally gives in. After agreeing to meet
again in ten days, we go to a save point.

Ten days later, we appear at Kame House where Krillin and Bulma are waiting for
Gohan to arrive. When he does, note that he's sporting a really dorky haircut.
Bulma decides that it's time to go and the ship takes off really fast, leaving
Chi Chi to worry at nothing but the air where they were.

In space, a quiz comes up almost immediately. Answer it with X to move on and
talk about Gohan's clothes. Another quiz comes up that needs to be answered
with B and we fade to black for a scant moment. When we return, Bulma complains
about being bored, and then the main part of the trip starts up.

Training with Krillin
-----------------------
From this point on, this'll be the entirety of your trip. Krillin will ask you
if you want to train with him, and two choices will come up. Choosing X will
put you in a battle with Krillin, choosing Y skips it. I won't cover the fight
with Krillin since it's the same each time and you gain little to nothing from
it anyway.

The -real- purpose of this is to help you get Gohan's better attacks. You'll
fight, then save, then fight, then save. Every set of two, you'll see a little
extra story event. Use these fights to try and fill out Gohan's attack list,
then move on.

The only really important extra bit is one where Vegeta learns that Freeza has
gone to Namek to find the dragon balls for himself and then rushes off after
him. There's also one featuring Goku asking Dr. Briefs to find the pod he
arrived in as a baby and to fix it up with a gravity generator for him. As I
said before, move along.
----------------------

Finally, after 34 days of travel, the group lands on Namek. A quiz comes up
almost immediately after touching down, so answer it with B. Bulma asks them to
wait while she sees if the atmosphere is safe for them, but Krillin and Gohan
are already outside. After yelling at them about this, she pulls out the dragon
radar and locates the balls. Krillin and Gohan both feel strong powers, but
Bulma assures them that it's just the Nameks, reminding them of Piccolo and
Kami's power.

The moment of calmness is broken as the group spots a Saiyan pod falling from
the sky. Krillin assumes that it must be Vegeta since he wanted the dragon
balls. He then suggests that Bulma sends a message to earth and leaves the
planet while he and Gohan find the balls. Answer the quiz with X and Bulma
makes a call to Roshi.

Elsewhere, Vegeta exits from his pod and decides to hang on to his scouter for
a little while longer despite not needing it. Back with our guys, Bulma
finishes her call to Roshi as a second space pod falls from the sky.

*******************************************************************************
A choice comes up here if you're on a clear save game. Choosing X has Gohan and
Krillin go and check out the new space pod while choosing Y has them stay with
Bulma. Y is the choice that follows the Manga.

If you choose X, you end up being face to face with Kewi and have to fight him.
He's an easy battle, though he has a lot of health. I'm not going to cover it
here since his only asset is taking a lot of hits. If you do duke it out with
him though, Gohan gets a rather impressive Ki boost and you don't see the scene
where Kewi and Vegeta meet up again. You also skip the choice about wanting to
go home or not, since you'll arrive back at the spaceship after Freeza's men
have shown up.
*******************************************************************************

Somewhere else on Namek, Freeza has already gathered four of the dragon balls.
Dodoria is ordered to guard the balls while Zarbon is sure that Kewi will
defeat Vegeta for them and also sends some men off to investigate the 2 new
powers they detected. Back with our friends, Krillin decides that chickening
out might be a good idea.

*******************************************************************************
And you get another choice if you're on a clear save and didn't go after Kewi.
Choosing X here has you decide to flee the planet and ending the game early,
while choosing Y keeps you on Namek and follows the proper plot. Make your
choice and move on!
*******************************************************************************

Some talk about the fact that they need the dragon balls now convinces Krillin
to stay. A quiz comes up that you should answer with X and some of Freeza's
goons show up afterwards. After realizing that they aren't Saiyans, Krillin and
Gohan hide their power to see what they're up to. The goons destroy their
spaceship before two of them get taken out with little effort. Only one stands,
and Gohan decides to take him down.

Battle with Freeza Grunt
---------------------------
Super Attack: Kikoha in the translation
Stun Attack: None?

He doesn't seem to follow any set pattern for his attacks, but that doesn't
matter because he's a complete pansy compared to you. Even his super move only
does around 500 damage. Take him out quick and move on.
---------------------------

Krillin celebrates the victory before Bulma rains on his parade by reminding
him that they have no way home now. The group decides to hide out due to the
powers they felt and we fade to black.

Elsewhere on Namek, Vegeta and Kewi meet up face to face once more. After a
taunt from Kewi about how weak he is, Vegeta stops hiding his power. His
newfound strength causes Zarbon's scouter to explode, and Dodoria reads his
power at twenty four thousand. Vegeta then kills Kewi in record time and makes
a plan to find one single dragon ball until he can steal the others from
Freeza. Speaking of Freeza, he doesn't particularly care about Kewi's death and
decides to go find the fifth ball instead of doing anything about it.

Bulma and the gang find a cave to hide out in, which they do moments later when
Gohan senses powers approaching. Krillin says that he saw four dragon balls and
Bulma verifies it with the radar. A quiz comes up shortly after this, answer it
with B to make Krillin note that the leader could even be stronger than Vegeta.
Bulma then notes that they're heading towards another ball and Krillin decides
to go spying.

*******************************************************************************
And another second game only choice comes up! Choosing X follows the proper
plot and has Gohan go too, while choosing Y causes Gohan to stay behind with
Bulma.

If you choose Y, nobody will be there to save Dende. Nail will show up shortly
after Krillin gets back and the game will end after a bit of conversation about
the dragon balls. It's kind of confusing really.
*******************************************************************************

Bulma doesn't like the idea of being left alone in the cave, but she allows
Gohan to go with Krillin anyway. The pair hides their power and follows the
powerful group. Time for another save point!

When we return, we're back on earth with Goku. He's being a naughty little
almost dead person and trying to train instead of resting. The doctor comes in
and yells at him for a bit, and a quiz comes up. Answer it with X to have
Master Roshi arrive. Another quiz comes up, answer it with X to get Master
Roshi to explain the situation on Namek.

Goku's worried about the fact that both Vegeta and someone stronger than him
are on Namek. Yajirobe conveniently arrives with seven senzu beans and Goku
quickly takes one to heal himself up. Answer the new quiz with Y and Goku runs
off to see Dr. Briefs about the ship, which he says will get him to Namek in
only a few days.

Over at Capsule Corporation, Goku has some pleasant conversation with Bulma's
mom only to learn that the ship isn't ready yet. Answer the quiz with X and
she... hits on you. And wants to take you to a tea shop.

*******************************************************************************
And you get a choice in the matter if you're on a clear save game! Choosing X
decides not to go with her and choosing Y has her take Goku around town for a
little while.

As far as I can tell, this choice makes no difference whatsoever. Goku has a
good time filling up on cakes and such with Y though, so choose it if you want
to make him happy. Or if you want the 'Date with Bulma's Mom' event. It's kinda
creepy either way.
*******************************************************************************

Bulma's mom finally call's Dr. Briefs over and shows him the spaceship. Answer
the quiz with X to learn about the artificial gravity generator. Goku asks if
it can fly and learns that it can, which makes him wonder why Dr. Briefs says
it isn't ready. It turns out that the stereo isn't ready. Goku doesn't really
care about his tunes and leaves just in time for Oolong and Puar to miss him.
Fade out to a save point.

Now we're done messing around with Goku and return to Gohan and Krillin
approaching a village. They hide behind a cliff to spy on Freeza and his men
bullying the Namek's around and carrying very large dragon balls. The Nameks
don't want to give Freeza their dragon ball, so Freeza threatens them. He then
has Zarbon kill two of the old Nameks. Turns out that Freeza wants to be
immortal as well, which the dragon balls can help him with.

The old Namek still won't hand the ball over, so Freeza threatens the kids
instead. Two warrior Nameks arrive before he can do anything though. Dodoria
reads their powers as one thousand each, which allows the old Namek to see how
they detect the balls. Krillin wonders why they can't sense that the fighters
are hiding their power, and then the Nameks wipe out the grunts. The old Namek
destroys the last three scouters and Dodoria kills the fighters with no trouble
at all.

He finally decides to hand the ball over if Freeza will go away and leave them
alone. Gohan's really pissed about everything that's just happened but Krillin
keeps him in check. Freeza asks where the rest of the balls are and the old
Namek refuses to tell. Dodoria kills him and one of the children. Answer the
quiz with Y and Gohan jumps out of hiding to save the other child. Another quiz
comes up that needs an answer of X.

Krillin knocks Dodoria through the wall a second time, grabs the kid, and gets
out of dodge with Gohan. Freeza order Dodoria to chase them down and he
complies.

******************************************************************************
A path choice comes up here. Choosing X causes Krillin to use Taioken and
allows them to escape while Y has you fight Dodoria. The only thing you really
need to know about the fight with Dodoria is that he'll start with a Power
attack that can kill you in one go. You can also lose this fight and not have
any ill effects on the game. Y is the manga choice.
******************************************************************************

Dodoria is blinded by Krillin's tactic, then gets knocked from the sky by
Vegeta. He tell Vegeta to give him his scouter, but Vegeta destroys it instead.
Vegeta is skeptical about the earthlings being on Namek and then proceeds to
disable Dodoria handily. Dodoria gets free by promising to tell Vegeta a
secret, and he tells that Freeza was the one that really destroyed the Saiyan
planet. Vegeta tells him that he doesn't care and proceeds to kill him.

A short distance away, the child thanks Gohan and Krillin for saving him.
Vegeta approaches before they can head back, however, and they hide. They all
luck out when he sees a fish that he thinks was what he felt and goes away.
After he flies off to go find a dragon ball of his own, Gohan and company head
back to the cave. They spot one of Freeza's men outside of the cave and Gohan
decides to fight him. Note that this one seems to be completely clueless as to
what's happening before you kill him.

Battle with Freeza Grunt
---------------------------
Super Attack: Kikoha in the translation
Stun Attack: None?

He doesn't seem to follow any set pattern for his attacks, but that doesn't
matter because he's a complete pansy compared to you. Even his super move only
does around 500 damage. Take him out quick and move on.
---------------------------

Bulma comes out of the cave after the fight and yells at them before spotting
the Namekian child. She then tells them that Goku is on his way and will arrive
in a few days. This makes everyone feel a bit better as we fade off to another
area of Namek.

Over here, Vegeta manages to find another Namekian village. He lands in town to
find that Freeza hasn't been there yet and asks for their dragon ball. The
leader refuses and Vegeta proceeds to kill them all as we go back to the cave.

Inside we find that Bulma set up a capsule house and the child introduces
himself as Dende. He asks who they are but they sense Vegeta destroying the
village before they can answer. Krillin notes that things will be really bad if
Freeza or Vegeta get the balls. Bulma suggests getting one and hiding it but
Gohan notes that they'll just kill all the Nameks if they do. Dende pleads for
their help as we return to the village.

Vegeta has found the dragon ball the village had and throws it in the lake for
safekeeping. After this he heads off to try and steal the five Freeza has.
Speaking of Freeza, he decides that Dodoria was worthless when he doesn't
return and hands out new orders. Zarbon and some random goon are sent out to
find the two other dragon balls and Freeza heads back to the ship. He expects
that Vegeta will try to steal the ones he already has if he found one and we
fade to a save point.

Back with the main group, Dende decides to take his new friends to see the
Eldest Namek. Krillin figures that he must have a dragon ball and that Vegeta
probably found one by destroying that village. He then decides to go with Dende
after the young Namek notes that there aren't many of his kind left.

*******************************************************************************
And you get a choice here if you're on a cleared file! Choosing X will have
Gohan go along with Krillin and choosing Y will have Gohan stay with Bulma. Y
is proper story choice, but X gets you two extra fights with Zarbon, both easy.
******************************************************************************

Krillin and Dende leave Gohan to guard Bulma, flying off at maximum speed.
Elsewhere, Vegeta is frustrated that he can't find any more Ki signals. He
spots Zarbon a few moments later and goes off to confront him. The two exchange
words about Freeza and the dragon balls before the battle. Vegeta seems to have
the upper hand but Zarbon transforms into his true form and defeats him easily.
He also mentions that Freeza can transform before leaving Vegeta for dead.

Zarbon returns to Freeza's ship and reports that he defeated Vegeta. A goon
shows up and notes that he found a destroyed village, leaving Zarbon to
speculate that Vegeta must have hidden the dragon ball somewhere. Freeza orders
Zarbon to go get Vegeta and the random henchman to call up the Ginyu Force (and
to tell them to bring scouters). After they leave, Freeza notes that Saiyans
get stronger with every battle, and that they must be destroyed before a Super
Saiyan appears.

Meanwhile, Krillin and Dende arrive at the home of the Eldest Namek. They are
greeted by Nail, a warrior who happens to look exactly like Piccolo. Nail says
that the Eldest Namek is already aware of what's happening and invites them in.
Speaking of the Eldest Namek, note that he is very large. He thanks Krillin for
saving Dende and then gets down to business. He knows that all the other Nameks
are being killed for their dragon balls, and Krillin asks him for his.

Upon learning that there were dragon balls on earth, he takes a moment to read
Krillin's past. He notes that Piccolo would be much, much more powerful if he
hadn't split away from Kami, and then decides to give Krillin his dragon ball.
After noting that he'll die soon, he also releases Krillin's hidden potential,
causing his power to grow rapidly. Krillin asks if the Eldest Namek can do this
on a child, which he can, and if it shortens his life any, which it doesn't. He
then decides to bring Gohan here for the same treatment and rushes off, leaving
Dende with his own kind.

Over at Freeza's ship, Zarbon has brought Vegeta over and stuck him in a
healing pod. Vegeta busts out early and kills a random goon before making a
complete mess of the place and stealing Freeza's dragon balls. After chucking
all of them off to the horizon he flies after them, leaving Freeza and Zarbon
in the dust. Freeza, understandably, is very angry and threatens to kill Zarbon
if he doesn't get the balls back. Vegeta finds that all of the balls have
conveniently landed together and notes that he has six of them before we fade
to a save point.

We fade in to find Bulma and Gohan at their cave. Bulma notes that there's a
lone dragon ball off near the village that Vegeta destroyed, along with another
lone one coming towards them. Gohan decides to go get the one near the village,
assuming that Vegeta just hadn't found it. A quiz comes up after he arrives at
the scene which needs an answer of X. Gohan senses someone he assumes to be a
survivor, but finds one of Freeza's goons instead.

Battle with Freeza Grunt
---------------------------
Super Attack: Kikoha in the translation
Stun Attack: None?

He doesn't seem to follow any set pattern for his attacks, but that doesn't
matter because he's a complete pansy compared to you. Even his super move only
does around 500 damage. Take him out quick and move on.
---------------------------

After smacking that guy around, Gohan finds the ball in the lake. Elsewhere,
Vegeta spots Krillin flying along with the Eldest Namek's dragon ball and gives
chase. This leads to Zarbon spotting him and chasing both of them down. Krillin
lands and Bulma tells him where Gohan went just before Vegeta lands. Vegeta
wonders about the fact that he and Krillin have the same goal, then tells him
not to flee while he takes care of some business. Zarbon lands, transforms, and
dies quickly, pleading for his life like all the others along with offering to
ally with him. After the deed is done, Vegeta notes that even together they'd
lose.

Next, he decides to deal with Krillin, along with wondering how he got so much
stronger. After a bit of talk about how Saiyans get stronger after all their
battles, Krillin hands over his dragon ball after Vegeta agrees not to harm him
or Bulma. Vegeta then flies off in a good mood while Krillin hopes that Gohan
can get the other dragon ball to them safely. Fade to the save screen.

At the destroyed village, Gohan is quite pleased with himself for finding the
dragon ball. As he's flying back however, he runs into Vegeta. After hiding the
ball, he steps out to confront Vegeta. After telling Gohan that he didn't kill
Krillin, Vegeta asks about the dragon radar.

*******************************************************************************
And you get to choose your own response, if you've won before! X tells Vegeta
that it's a dragon ball detector and Y lies to him. If you choose X you get to
fight Vegeta, otherwise you follow the normal story. Aside from having some
more stamina, Vegeta is pretty much exactly the same as when you battled on
Earth so refer to that if you need help.
*******************************************************************************

Vegeta asks if Goku's around somewhere as well and drops some more idle threats
when Gohan says that he isn't. Gohan then proceeds to make haste back to the
base camp when Vegeta leaves. After a bit of congratulating about getting the
ball, the group decides to move to a different spot before Vegeta finds out
what happened. When he does find out moments later, he's very unhappy about it.
And even less happy when they're no longer in their old hiding spot.

In the nearby canyon that our gang is now hiding in, Bulma whines about the
place being too small for the capsule house. Krillin and Gohan respond by
deciding to leave and go to see the Eldest Namek. Vegeta, meanwhile, sits with
the rest of the balls and sulks, knowing that he can't do anything since they
can detect his group easily. On the way to the Eldest Namek's place, Gohan and
Krillin spot a Freeza goon as they're getting ready to fly the rest of the way.
You know what's coming next. Note that this one is also completely clueless.

Battle with Freeza Grunt
---------------------------
Super Attack: Kikoha in the translation
Stun Attack: None?

He doesn't seem to follow any set pattern for his attacks, but that doesn't
matter because he's a complete pansy compared to you. Even his super move only
does around 500 damage. Take him out quick and move on.
---------------------------

The fight, unfortunately, allows Vegeta to sense where Gohan and Krillin are.
He takes one of his dragon balls and flies off to find them. Krillin, sensing
Vegeta's approach, tells Gohan to go on ahead while he stays back to keep him
distracted. Vegeta asks for his dragon ball back before sensing Gohan and
leaving Krilling behind. Krillin follows after him and Gohan gets his hidden
potential unlocked. Nail steps outside to keep Vegeta out as the process
occurs, which causes Vegeta to mistake Gohan for Goku. As he steps outside,
Dende notes that the Eldest Namek senses more Ki approaching. Krillin thinks
it's Goku, and a quiz comes up. Answer it with Y, and Vegeta figures out that
it's the Ginyu Force.

Vegeta tells them that they need to give him the last ball or they're all
doomed. He explains that the Ginyu Force is even stronger than he is and that
they'll die if he isn't made immortal. Krillin worries, while Nail's revelation
that three wishes can be made on their dragon balls prompts you with another
quiz. Answer it with B and our guys will take Vegeta to get the last dragon
ball. They swoop into the canyon and grab the ball fast, leaving Bulma to be
very confused by Vegeta's presence as we fade to a save.

When we return, we're back with Goku! He notes that it's dark outside and a
quiz appears. Answer it with Y, and he notes that he doesn't have time to worry
about stupid things like that. He sets the gravity to 20 times normal and give
you a quiz, which you should answer with X.

Gravity Training with Goku
----------------------------

All right, this is pretty simple. When you start up each level, your health
will begin to train rapidly. To win, hit X fifty times before your health
empties completely. You'll repeat this three times for each level, and if you
beat at least two you'll move up a level next time. After each training
session, Goku will count how many Senzu he has left and you'll get a choice. If
you choose X, you'll eat a Senzu while Y makes him go without.

From what I can tell, the only difference that eating a Senzu makes is that
you'll get a larger increase in power than if you don't. Also, depending on how
many you have left, you may or may not see certain scenes.

The gravity levels are different depending on if you're playing from a clear
save or not. In a clear save, he jumps from twenty times to fifty times, then
100, and finally up to 150. Which is interesting since Dr. Briefs said it could
only go to 100.

-UPDATE: How to fight Robot Vegeta!-

Many thanks to Viktor for solving this mystery for me once and for all. I'll
quote exactly what he said in his e-mail here.

"I know how you fight robot Vegeta.
You have to chose no sometime on the space ship Gohan is on.
Then you will come to goku. And he will met Bulma's dad.
And he say he have found goku's space ship goku come to earth with."

And then you train goku in his space ship you have to win the mini game.
Then you have do that you have to VS robot Vegeta."

-END UPDATE-

Also, after the second training, King Kai will contact Goku. A quiz will come
up immediately, answer it with B. King Kai mentions that he has four new
guests, and a quiz comes up after a bit of talking. Answer this one with X and
Goku tells everyone about the situation on Namek. King Kai finds Freeza on
Namek and orders Goku to stay away from him. Answer the quiz with Y and get
back to work you slacker!
----------------------------

After the training ends, Goku turns the gravity back to normal and immediately
quizzes you about how he feels. Answer him with B and he'll quiz you again.
Choose Y this time and he'll finally let you save.

We return to Namek just in time to see the Ginyu Force land near Freeza's ship.
After a mildly disturbing entrance pose, Freeza orders them to beat Vegeta and
get his dragon balls back. Jeice hands over the scouter Freeza asked for and
then the group flies off to do their job.

In space, the ship says that Goku will land in twenty minutes. Goku talks about
his clothes for a moment and then gives you another quiz. Answer Y and we'll
head back to Namek again.

Vegeta and the others arrive where he stashed the other six balls just in time
to be cut off by the Ginyu Force. Ginyu spots the five left together and asks
Vegeta for the other two. Krillin, meanwhile, wonders why the green Ginyu Force
guy is so weak. Vegeta throws one of the balls away, but Burter catches it.
Krillin tries to destroy the other at Vegeta's order, but Guldo somehow gets it
before he can. Vegeta announces that Guldo can stop time. After the character
change, Ginyu decides to take the balls back to Freeza and leaves the others to
deal with Vegeta and company. The rest of the force begins to play Rock, Paper,
Scissors to decide who gets to fight who.

*******************************************************************************
If you're on your second game, you get some options here. Choosing X has
everyone stay put, while choosing Y tries to make you flee. X is the normal
choice. If you choose Y, Recoome gets distracted from the game to yell at you
and you end up having Jeice take his place in the upcoming events.
*******************************************************************************

Recoome wins the game and gets to battle Vegeta while Guldo claims Gohan and
Krillin. Ginyu then leaves with the balls and a quiz appears. Answer it with B
to get Vegeta to yell at you. Vegeta asks when Goku will arrive, and Krillin
assures him that it's soon. Guldo decides to start off because Recoome doesn't
like Gohan or Krillin and you're thrown into battle.

Battle with Guldo
------------------------
Super Move: Kikoha in the translated ROM
Stun Move: Time Stop

Just as Vegeta and Krillin said, Guldo is quite weak. He tends to use his Time
Stop ability often, so be careful if you're using the super attack strategy.
Other than this, he's nothing to worry about.
-------------------------

After the fight, Guldo uses some technique to paralyze Gohan and Krillin. Jeice
and Burter are surprised at their power as Guldo moves in for the kill. Vegeta
intervenes and kills Guldo before he can do anything, and a quiz comes up.
Answer it with B to have Vegeta blow off your thanks. The other members of the
Ginyu Force are shocked that one of their members was killed. Rather than being
angry about that, they're more angry that their last pose has been ruined.

Recoome steps up to fight with Vegeta after this. Vegeta unleashes a furious
assault, surprising Krillin quite a bit. Unfortunately, Recoome is unharmed
swats Vegeta down easily. Krillin and Gohan step in to save Vegeta, but Krillin
is beaten even more easily than Vegeta. Answer the following quiz with X to
enter battle once more.

Battle with Recoome (As Gohan)
--------------------------------
Super attack: Eraser Gun
Stun attack: None?

Recoome can do some serious damage with his attacks, and he has a lot of
stamina to boot. Thanks to the fighting system though, this fight still isn't
much to worry about. It just tends to last a bit longer than usual. He tends to
favor Power and Ki attacks, so use that against him.
--------------------------------

Recoome is still relatively unharmed after the battle, but Gohan is entirely
drained. Over at Freeza's ship, Freeza congratulates Ginyu on his success in
finding the dragon balls. As Freeza prepares to make his wish, Ginyu asks if he
should do his dance of joy. If this is your first time through Freeza shoots
him down, but those on clear saves get to witness the moderately frightening
dance. After seeing it (or not), Freeza asks the balls for immortality. This
doesn't work and Freeza figures out that there must be some kind of password to
activate the balls. He finds two Nameks using his scouter and heads off to get
the information from them, leaving Ginyu to guard the balls. Fade to save.

Back on the battlefield, Gohan decides to make a last stand against Recoome. A
quiz comes up that, when answered with X, leads to Gohan getting beat. After
this, Recoome sees a ship coming down and Krillin joyfully realizes that Goku
has finally arrived. One character change later, Goku senses Krillin and
Gohan's dying Ki sigunatures. Answer the following quiz with Y to hurry him
over to the battlefield. Recoome wonders who Goku, and Goku ignores him to give
Senzus to Krillin and Gohan. A quiz comes up after Gohan is healed, so answer
it with X to have Krillin revived. Answer the new quiz with X to have Goku get
the whole story.

******************************************************************************
A story choice comes up here for those of you on a second game. X gives Vegeta
a Senzu bean and Y decides not to give one to him. The only difference this
makes is on when Recoome and Burter are killed.

Also note that if you ate all the Senzus on the trip to Namek, you won't get
this choice or give Vegeta a bean no matter which playthrough you're on.
*******************************************************************************

Krillin asks if they all should attack together but Goku says that he'll fight
them alone. Recoome reads his power level at five thousand and claims for him
to be boastful while Vegeta wonders why he's so calm. Vegeta then wonders if
he's the legendary Super Saiyan and the fight begins.

Battle with Recoome (As Goku)
-------------------------------
Super attack: Eraser Gun
Stun attack: None?

Remember how things were when Goku came to fight Nappa? This is muchly the
same. This fight is so easy that it's almost pitiful. Have fun destroying the
big doof! Also note that the posing confusion at the beginning is amusing.
-------------------------------

Everyone is surprised at how easily Goku defeated Recoome, including Jeice.
Goku asks if they're going to leave the planet, which causes Jeice and Burter
to decide to attack. Answer the quiz with B to watch Goku humiliate them a bit.
Vegeta notes that Goku raises his power just moments before he attacks so it
looks like it doesn't change. Goku manages to get behind Burter and tells him
that he's no longer the fastest in the form of a quiz. Choose Y to have Goku
tell him that he's a Saiyan and Burter gets mad. Time for another fight!

Battle with Burter
--------------------
Super Attack: Kikoha in the translated ROM
Stun Attack: None?

This fight starts off with some speed posturing by both Goku and Burter. Aside
from this, Burter is nothing special at all. He doesn't favor any attack type
and he isn't all that strong. Just take him apart like you would anyone else
and move alone.
--------------------

Goku tells Jeice that the other two are alive and that they can still leave
without any trouble. Vegeta tells Goku to kill them, but Goku blows him off by
answering the quiz with X. Jeice freaks out and runs off to get Captain Ginyu
while Krillin and Gohan can't get over Goku's new strength. Vegeta then
proceeds to kill Burter and Recoome, telling Goku that he's too soft to be a
Super Saiyan. He also says that he'll never defeat Freeza as he is.

Over at Freeza's ship, Ginyu can't believe that three of his underlings were
killed. Instead of reporting to Freeza, Ginyu decides to bury the dragon balls
and handle things personally. Before this, however, he gets really pissed that
their pose doesn't work at all with only two people. At the battlefield, Vegeta
guesses that Freeza must be immortal by now. Krillin tells him that he couldn't
have gotten his wish because the sky hasn't gone dark, and Goku mentions
needing the keyword to call the dragon. Vegeta then senses two Ki sources
approaching, Jeice and Captain Ginyu. Goku senses Freeza and Gohan notes that
it's near the Eldest Namek. He's worried that Freeza will kill him and
deactivate the dragon balls because the Eldest Namek made them.

Ginyu and Jeice arrive shortly after this and Ginyu guesses that Goku's power
should be about sixty thousand. Goku sends Gohan and Krillin off to find the
dragon balls and asks Vegeta to take care of Jeice. Gohan and Krillin leave as
asked, and Vegeta leaves Goku to deal with Ginyu and Jeice on his own.

Battle with Captain Ginyu
---------------------------
Super Move: Kikoha in the translated rom
Stun Move: Ginyu Dance

The beginning of this one starts up with Goku trying to pose like Ginyu and
then promptly insulting the point of the whole thing. Captian Ginyu has a lot
of stamina but nothing else too threatening. Proper use of Kaioken can speed
this battle up greatly. Note that he -does- have a combo attack, but it's
pretty boring to see.
---------------------------

The battle ends with nobody having a clear advantage. Ginyu asks Goku to show
his full power and Goku agrees. His full power of 180,000 completely dazzles
Ginyu and causes him to wonder if he's the Super Saiyan. Goku orders them to
leave once again and Ginyu realizes that he can't be the Super Saiyan if he's
nice. Fade to a save point.

When we return, Freeza is closing in on the Eldest Namek's place. Dende is
ordered to leave to help Krillin and Gohan and flies off in a hurry, passing
Freeza along the way. Nail comes out to greet Freeza, saying that he won't tell
how to use the dragon balls. He also tells Freeza that if the Eldest Namek
dies, the balls will become ordinary stones. He then takes Freeza off somewhere
else to fight and has no luck with it at all.

Back with Ginyu and Goku, Ginyu is laughing. Answer the quiz with Y to cause
him to start injuring himself. Ginyu says that he likes you and causes another
quiz. Choose X and Ginyu will use his body change technique to steal Goku's
body. Jeice and Ginyu head back towards Freeza's ship while Goku struggles with
Ginyu's injured body. Answer the quiz that follows with B to see Gohan and
Krillin arrive at Bulma's hiding spot. Bulma asks about what's happening and
only learns that Goku has landed on the planet before they leave again.

Vegeta arrives at Freeza's ship and decides to wait for Gohan and Krillin to
find the balls. Krillin and Gohan arrive and quickly find the hidden dragon
balls. They attempt to call the dragon out but have no success. Ginyu and Jeice
arrive, but the fact that Ginyu is in Goku's body confuses Krillin and Gohan.
Gohan realizes that he's not Goku and Ginyu explains himself. He then decides
to try out his new body on Gohan and we enter a battle.

Battle with Ginyu-Goku
------------------------
Super Move: Kikoha in the translated ROM
Stun Move: Ginyu Dance

This is, for all intents and purposes, Ginyu with a different sprite. He also
has much less stamina than he did when you fought him with Goku. Go on and
knock his fancy new body down a peg.
------------------------

Ginyu can't believe that he's losing to a child now that his power level is
180,000. The real Goku finally arrives and explains what happened. Answer the
quiz with X and Goku tells you to kill Ginyu. Ginyu doesn't think they can do
it, but Goku notes that he can't access the full power of a body that isn't
his. He powers up to prove himself but can only managed to get to twenty three
thousand before topping out. Jeice attempts to join in the battle but Vegeta
kills him easily.

Vegeta notes that Ginyu hasn't been killed since he's in Goku's body and
proceeds to incapacitate him quickly. A quiz comes up after this and you should
answer it with Y to make Vegeta go in for the kill. Ginyu attempts to change
bodies with Vegeta but Goku gets quizzed before he can. Choose B and everyone
will end up in their proper bodies again. Gohan is happy that his dad is in his
own body again while Ginyu makes another attempt at getting Vegeta's body. A
frog also happens to start hopping by at this time.

*******************************************************************************
Time for another clear game only choice! Choose X to ignore the frog or Y to
throw it. Y moves the story along properly while X leads to one of the more
humorous alternate endings in the game.
*******************************************************************************

Ginyu ends up in the frog's body leaving everyone safe for the moment. Goku,
however, is seriously beaten up. Vegeta threatens the Ginyu-frog but lets it
leave anyway. If you had any extra Senzu from the gravity training, Gohan will
find them on the ground now but Ginyu-Frog will eat them before he can get one
for Goku. Vegeta then decides to help out so he can have an ally against
Freeza. They bring him inside Freeza's ship and stick him in a healing tank.
Answer the quiz with B to go outside and discuss Freeza's power. Another quiz
pops up, so answer it with B to find out it'll take about an hour for Goku to
heal. Time for another save point!

When you return, Krillin decides to go see the Eldest Namek despite the
possibility of running into Freeza. A choice comes up after this. X causes
nobody to leave, while Y brings up another choice. For this one, X causes
Krillin to go alone while Y has both Krillin and Gohan leave. The proper
choices are Y then X.

Back with Nail and Freeza, Nail is dying. He lets Freeza know that Dende is the
one who can use the dragon balls, and Freeza realizes that he's been tricked.
He then flies off quickly to try and stop them from using his wish. Dende,
meanwhile, runs into Krillin and tells him how to use the balls. They arrive
back at the ship quickly and take the dragon balls elsewhere while Vegeta
sleeps.

At the new open area, Gohan and Krillin sense Freeza's approach. Dende summons
Porunga and a quiz appears. Choose Y to see the dragon who will grant you three
wishes. They try to bring their friends back to life but learn that only one
person can be revived at a time. Piccolo then contacts them via King Kai asking
to be revived first to get the earth's dragon balls back. He then asks to be
brought to Namek so he can fight the one who destroyed his people. These two
wishes are made as Vegeta wakes up.

Upon seeing the darkened sky, Vegeta realizes that he's been double-crossed.
Vegeta arrives before a third wish can be made, and he's really angry. He's
placated when he learns one wish is left and asks to be made immortal.
Elsewhere, Piccolo realizes that he knows this planet despite never having been
on it before. The dragon disappears before the final wish can be made. The
Eldest Namek has died.

To make things even better, Freeza shows up! He's also very unhappy about being
tricked. Piccolo, sensing Freeza's power, rushes off towards the battle only to
encounter Nail in his path. After a bit of talk Nail and Piccolo merge into one
being, and the new Piccolo heads off to fight. Vegeta claims that he's becoming
a Super Saiyan before charging into battle with Freeza. After a short
stalemate, Vegeta tells Freeza to transform. Telling him that he has a death
wish, Freeza does as he's told.

My, isn't this a much different change from the tiny runt we were dealing with
before? Everyone is in complete disbelief at Freeza's new power and a quiz
comes up. Choose X to watch Krillin get beaten. Gohan moves to save him only to
be blocked off by Freeza. Answer this quiz with B to enter a new battle.

Battle with Freeza's Second Form
----------------------------------
Super Move: Kikoha in the translated ROM
Stun Move: Kiai

Big, isn't he? He has a lot of strength and a lot of stamina, so be careful
during this fight. This tends to be one of the longest fights in the game, so
hang in there. You're almost to the end!
-----------------------------------

Vegeta notes that Gohan's power grows when he's angry just as Freeza stands up
and beats him down. Vegeta attacks from behind with no effect at all. Krillin
then appears and knocks Freeza away, fully healed. We then see how this
happened as Dende heals Gohan. Vegeta wants to know why he wasn't told about
this and learns that nobody knew. Piccolo then appears and decides to battle
alone. He and Freeza fight to a stalemate until Piccolo removes his weighted
clothes and Freeza transforms to his next stage.

Freeza gets a whole lot stronger and a whole lot uglier. He proceeds to beat up
Piccolo quite well, causing Gohan to try to intervene. Vegeta asks Krillin to
severely injure him so he can gain more strength from healing. Gohan then
attacks Freeza and a quiz comes up. Select Y and Freeza realizes that Gohan is
a Saiyan. He then begins to change to his final form as Krillin finally submits
and blasts Vegeta.

Piccolo wonders if he can heal like Dende and learns that he can't. Everyone
tries to get Dende to heal Vegeta, but he doesn't agree until a quiz comes up.
Answer B and he'll finally agree, causing Vegeta to be sure he's a Super Saiyan
now. Freeza finally reaches his final form (which, as Krillin notes, is
smaller) and kills Dende. Vegeta steps up to fight only to find that he's not a
Super Saiyan. He then gets beaten horribly as Goku finally heals fully.

Goku hurries from the ship and a quiz comes up. Answer B to bring him over to
the battlefield, much to everyone's surprise. He tells everyone that he'll take
over from here and Vegeta says that Goku is the Super Saiyan. Freeza then
strikes a deathblow upon him and Vegeta begs him to forget his kindness and
defeat Freeza for the sake of their people. We then fade to a save point.

When you return, Goku says some respectful words about Vegeta before declaring
that he'll fight as a Saiyan. Answer the quiz and you rush into battle.

Goku vs Freeza
-------------------
Super Attack: Slice Attack
Stun Attack: Kiai

This is it, the big grudge match. Goku vs Freeza, you can feel the tension in
the air. Freeza's even stronger than he was when Gohan battled him, but you
have Kaioken on your side. Even with that, this fight can take a LONG time, so
be ready for it. Note that his Slice Attack can really mess you up, so be sure
to stun him if he tries it.
-------------------

After the battle everyone realizes that Goku is too worn out to win the fight.
Goku then begins to charge up a Genki Dama as a final move. Freeza eventually
spots it before it's done but Piccolo manages to distract him again. The bomb
is dropped and eventually explodes in Freeza's face.

Up on King Kai's planet, King Kai and the others celebrate Goku's victory.
Krillin and Gohan find Piccolo and Goku, and everyone is happy. A very damaged
Freeza finds them shortly afterwards, however, and he injures Piccolo. Goku
asks the others to leave using his ship and a quiz comes up. Choose X and
Krillin will die. After this, Goku gains blonde hair and green eyes becoming
the legendary Super Saiyan from his anger. He tells Gohan to take Piccolo and
flee. Gohan objects in the form of a quiz but leaves when you pick Y. Another
quiz comes up a moment later that you should answer with B and then you return
to battle.

SSJ Goku vs Freeza
--------------------
Super Attack: Slice Attack
Stun Attack: Kiai

First off, take note of your insane amount of Ki now. You can't use Kaioken
anymore, but you really don't need to either. Freeza's exactly the same as
before except you're about fifty times stronger. Have fun pulverizing him!
---------------------

After this skirmish, Goku isn't even winded at all while Freeza is really hurt.
Freeza finally realizes that Goku is, in fact, a Super Saiyan and attempts to
destroy the planet, since he can live in space and Goku can't. King Kai assumes
that this is the end until Kami calls him. He discovers that the planet
survived the attack since Kami would be dead again otherwise.

Note that Namek looks much different now! I sorta prefer the lava look, myself.
Freeza says that the planet will explode in 5 minutes and a quiz appears.
Answer it with X and he decides to charge up to 100% of his power. King Kai
tells Goku to attack while he charges but Goku says he'll fight and win at
100%. He refuses to listen to reason and we go into battle once more.

SSJ Goku vs 100% Freeza
--------------------
Super Attack: Slice Attack
Stun Attack: Kiai

The only real difference this time is that Freeza can take a bit more
punishment and looks a bit different. He still fights the same and will still
fall to Super Saiyan Goku very easily, so have some fun with this one.
---------------------

The battle is really close, both Freeza and Goku are fighting at their limits.
Kami then calls King Kai and says that he's gather's the dragon balls. King Kai
then tells him to bring back everyone that Freeza killed so they can use the
Namekian balls to transport everyone but Freeza to earth. The plan works, but
Goku asks for them to change the wish so he can stay and defeat Freeza
personally.

Unfortunately, Freeza spots the dragon as Dende goes to make the wish and
manages to shout his out first. The dragon ignores it and sends everyone to
earth instead, leaving Goku to explain that Freeza's wish failed because he
didn't say it in Namekian. We then enter one more battle with Freeza.

SSJ Goku vs 100% Freeza
--------------------
Super Attack: Slice Attack
Stun Attack: Kiai

Once again, this is exactly the same as the last one aside from Freeza having
less stamina. Take him down one more time!
---------------------

A quiz appears after the battle, so answer it with X to have Goku stop the
fight due to Freeza weakening too quickly. Goku returns to normal only to be
attacked from behind. His renewed anger at Freeza returns him to Super Saiyan
and he strikes one last blow. Freeza asks for help and despite all his yelling,
Goku lends him some energy to escape with. Freeza decides to use it to attack
him again. A quiz comes up, so answer it with X and Goku finishes him off for
good. The planet explodes shortly after this.

Be sure to watch through the credits at the end! A little more of the story is
revealed and then you get a chance to save. By doing this, you create the
cleared save that I mentioned up at the top to save all your events and
techniques. Happy gaming!
