Table of Contents ----------------- 1.0 Introduction 2.0 Matches 3.0 Moves 4.0 Gameplay Strategies 5.0 Wrestlers 6.0 Guide Related ############################################################################### 1.0 | INTRODUCTION ############################################################################### Welcome to my small guide to this game. I started this as part of an "FAQ completion project" in which FAQ writers get together to make guides for games that do not already have guides. It's system-based and this time it happened to be Sega Master System (SMS). I do not own an SMS but since I wanted to be apart of this project I wrote for this game. I am a fan of wrestling (admittedly not as big of a fan as I used to be). I still find restling to be very entertaining and is great for a show to watch on a regular basis. The game itself is primitive is you may expect, but not quite as primitive as some of the other wrestling games of its day. It has theme music for all of the wrestlers and the move list has enough to enjoy the game. One downside is that you cannot perform signature moves of each wrestler. In fact, all of the wrestlers sport the same moveset. The only difference between the characters is visual and their theme music. Even still, the cage match is fun and is a great alternative to the standard matches. ############################################################################### 2.0 | MATCHES ############################################################################### Match Types ----------- Regular Match: This is the typical match in most modes. The idea is to beat your opponent so that pinning him becomes easier. Be careful to not be pinned yourself! Cage Match: The idea is to beat your opponent so much that they take a long time to get up. When you have knocked them down, move towards any side of the cage and hold towards it as you climb. If your opponent gets up during the climb, your guy will automatically come back down. Mode Types ---------- One on One: You versus a computer-controlled opponent in either a regular match or a cage match. You can set the difficulty to your liking. Tag Team: This is what you would expect -- it's tag team. You control the person that's the legal man on your team (no other human can). WWF Championship: Climb the ladder to greatness as you aspire to become the WWF champion. If you lose a match be sure to quickly hit retry (button 1) or you may end up having to start all over. Tag Team Championship: The title says it all -- take your tag team through the ranks to become the tag team champion. ############################################################################### 3.0 | MOVES ############################################################################### Wrestlemania SCC is compatible with the following SMS controllers: Standard SMS Control Pad Standard SMS Control Stick .------------------------. .---------------------------. | .-----. | | .-. .-. | ______ | | |_\|/_| .-. .-. | |( o ) ( o ) | | | | | | /|\ | ( o ) ( o ) | | '|' '|' | | o | | | '--o--' `|` `-\ | | | | | '---|--' | '----|---------|-------\-' \ | | | | | | | \ `|------|------------|----' | | \ | | | d-pad button 1 button 2 | | | button 1 button 2 d-pad (stick) -------------------, Standing Attacks / -----------------' Opponent Standing ================== button 1 - kick button 2 - punch Opponent Lying ============== button 1 - stomp button 2 - elbow drop button 1 + down - pin opponent (stand near side of opponent) -------------------, Running Attacks / -----------------' To run, press and hold button 1 and button 2 together. From here, you can bounce off the ropes and/or perform a running attack. Certain running attacks can be countered -- check the Defensive at the bottom of this section. Opponent Standing ================= button 1 - clothesline button 2 - punch button 1 + button 2 - kick Opponent Lying ============== button 2 - splash button 1 + button 2 - elbow drop Off The Ropes ============= button 2 - flying elbow button 1 + button 2 - flying dropkick Defensive ========= button 2 - slam running opponent (when opponent runs towards you, press) -------------------, Grappling / -----------------' To grapple your opponent, walk toward them and you shall lock into a grapple. The opponent with the most energy will likely get the offensive grab. However, when on the defensive side of the grab you can often counter by repeatedly pressing button 2. Offensive ========= left/right - initiate grapple button 1 - slam button 2 - head butt button 2 + left/right - Irish whip (lightly tap together to throw opponent) button 1 + button 2 - throw Defensive ========= button 2 - counter grapple (press again to break grapple) -------------------, Defensive Moves / -----------------' Out of context, these do not make a lot of sense. That is why you should read what's in the parenthesis after the move name. button 2 - stand up (tap repeatedly while on mat) button 2 - kick out of pin (tap repeatedly)(see Standing Attack for pinning) button 2 - attempt counter grapple (after you're grabbed) -------------------, Turnbuckle / -----------------' To climb the turnbuckle press the d-pad towards it. d-pad - climb turnbuckle (press in direction of turnbuckle while nearby) button 1 - climb down button 2 - flying elbow (standing or lying opponent) -------------------, Other Movement / -----------------' left/right - enter/exit ring d-pad - climb cage (press towards cage and hold while opponent is down) button 1 + down - pin opponent (stand near the top of them) button 2 - tag partner (stand near their corner) ############################################################################### 4.0 | GAMEPLAY STRATEGIES ############################################################################### * Throw your opponent out of the ring (B1+B2), climb out and start beating on him until the clock reaches 10. Now quickly run back in and you should get the win since he was out first. * When you get an opponent to low energy, get him on the ground and keep doing the elbow drop over-and-over. Because of how the game works, you should be able to do this quite a bit. Then go for the easy pin or cage climb. * When outside of the ring try to stay away from the bottom side of the ring. The camera tends to become caught when you run across and by the time you find your guy the timer is up! * In a tag team match, tag your opponent whenever you get low on energy to avoid being pinned easily. When your energy is low you are easily pinned even by the most weak wrestler. * A good, cheap strategy from beating your opponent is to keep punching him, then kick him once, then move in for the grab. Do it like this and you should get it every time. * Get on a turnbuckle only after knocking your enemy down. Get to the closest one because if you miss, energy will be taken off your health bar. ############################################################################### 5.0 | WRESTLERS ############################################################################### Selecting Your Wrestler: Use the d-pad to cycle left and right through the wrestler list. Once you have highlighted your desired wrestler, press B1 or B2 to pick him. After that, you will need to pick the other wrestler(s). Use the same principal for this and move on with the match. Hulk Hogan: Arguably the greatest thing that happened to wrestling entertainment, Hulk Hogan is truly an American icon. He sports "24-inch pythons" and is as charismatic as they come. What'cha gonna do when the Hulkster runs wild on you? The Undertaker: Born in Death Valley, The Undertaker is no stranger to the dark side. In addition, his fascination with death and creepy-looking getup scares the crap out of his opponents. Dead man walking. Tatanka: Famous for his Native American heritage, Tatanka pulled the whole getup off very well. His signature moves such as the Tomahawk Chop paid homage to people. Ted DiBiase: "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase is a rich guy who has a drive to be a success in life and in the wrestling world. And if he cannot get it through his skill, he'll buy it with his money. DiBiase is cruel and doesn't care what people think of him. Randy Savage: Randy's outfit and signature "Oh yeahhhhh!" is all you need to know about "Macho Man" to get what he's about. Savage is a good all around wrestler who usually takes the spot of a face, drifting to moderate from time-to-time. Bret Hart: They do not call him “The Hitman” for nothing. Bret Hart is a fearsome person who is a great technical wrestler. In fact, he's considered one of the best wrestlers of all-time. Shawn Michaels: The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels is quick the impress the ladies and even quicker on his feet in the ring. Step into the Heartbreak Hotel and you're bound to hear some Sweet Chin Music. Papa Shango: Wrestling is the only sport where gimmick can sometimes get you as far as talent, and Shango sure proves this. He never was a great wrestler but his voodoo gimmick was refreshing nonetheless. Irwin R. Schyster: IRS is the guy everyone hates. And although he is the embodiment of a heel, he as very cunning at the same time. He's also a decent wrestler who never got anywhere in the business thanks to the way things work. Ric Flair: Like Hogan and Savage, "Nature Boy" Ric Flair is a legend among wrestling fans. His submission moves are tops and his chops hurt like hell. Ric Flair is surely one wrestler you don't turn your back on. ############################################################################### 6.0 | GUIDE RELATED ############################################################################### History ------- 1/12/2005 - Version 1.00 - First release after two evenings' work.
