Introduction =============================================================================== Escape is a very small interactive fiction adventure that was released by Tartan Software in 1987. You have been captured on a return journey from a strange land and have been placed in a strange type of cell. The aim in the game is find something to eat and drink and somewhere to sleep before escaping. This is a short game, but some intriguing puzzles make it interesting to play. =============================================================================== 2. Walkthrough =============================================================================== The game starts in the middle of the room. GET CANDLE. Move SOUTH and WEST to the south-west corner of the room. EXAMINE BED to see a spring which quenches your thirst. SLEEP in the bed to become refreshed. Move EAST to the south wall. GET CALENDAR. SHAKE CALENDAR and some dates will fall to the floor. EAT DATES to satisfy your hunger. Move WEST and NORTH twice to the north-west corner of the room. PLAY PIANO to get a key. Move EAST twice to the north-east corner of the room. CAST POLICE SPELL to reveal a safe. UNLOCK SAFE with the key from the piano to learn the Buzby spell. Move SOUTH twice to the trunk. CAST BUZBY SPELL to learn the Swan spell. Move NORTH to the archway. CAST SWAN SPELL to light the candle. Move EAST into the alcove. GET LAMP. GET OIL. Move WEST twice to the middle of the room. MOVE TABLE to see a trapdoor. RUB LAMP to learn the Dallas spell. CAST DALLAS SPELL to open the oil can. OIL HINGES on the trapdoor. OPEN TRAPDOOR to learn the Heinz spell. Move WEST to the west wall. CAST HEINZ SPELL. Move WEST to complete the game. =============================================================================== 3. Item List =============================================================================== CALENDAR Found at the south side of the room. It is shaken to get the dates. CANDLE Found in the middle of the room. The Swan spell is cast to light the candle in the middle of the room. It is used to provide light in the alcove. DATES Found by shaking the calendar. They are eaten to satisfy hunger. LAMP Found in the alcove. It is rubbed to learn the Dallas spell. KEY Found by playing the piano at the north-west corner of the room. It is used to unlock the safe after the Police spell has been cast on the painting. OIL Found in the alcove. The Dallas spell is cast to open the oil can. It is used to oil the hinges on the trapdoor. =============================================================================== 4. Spell List =============================================================================== BUZBY Found after the key has been used to unlock the safe. It is cast at the tatty trunk at the south-east corner of the room to learn the Swan spell. DALLAS Found by rubbing the lamp in the middle of the room. It is cast to open the oil can. HEINZ Found after the trapdoor has been opened in the middle of the room. It is cast to open the door at the west side of the room. POLICE Available at the start of the game. It is cast at the painting by Constable at the north-east corner of the room to reveal a safe. SWAN Found after casting the Buzby spell on the tatty trunk at the south-east corner of the room.
