INTRODUCTION G0100 =============================================================================== Welcome to 'Dragon Wang' for the SG-1000, released by Sega in 1985. Suggestions, comments or errors - tell me about it. Enjoy! =============================================================================== 02.) OVERVIEW & CONTROLS G0200 =============================================================================== The aim of the game is to collect all the keys in the stage so they turn blue. You will automatically move on to the next round if you have them all. Display: ```````` 1UP HI-SCORE 2UP xxxx xxxx xxxx D-Wang TIME ENEMY [=======] [=======] [========] <> Lives Keys ROUND x You have three lives to start out with as displayed in the bottom left corner. After 50,000 points you earn a new one. The top of the screen is simply the score of each player and the current hi- score. You get 200 points for the regular enemies alone. D-Wang is the player, and the amount of health left. Getting his is an obvious way to lose health chunks. Each key will fully replenish your health. Time slowly runs out, keep a close watch out for that. The Enemy will change according to who you face. Regular enemies go down in one kick but bosses will be tougher to take out. Keys need to be picked up to finish the round. After picking one up a gray key turns blue in the display. Controls: ````````` 1/2 Kick LEFT/RIGHT Move UP Jump DOWN Crouch START Pause/Unpause Jumping to the side is much quicker than simply walking. Keep this in mind when running from enemies. They also cannot cross gaps, but some might still throw their knifes across. Jump-kick is quite effective against the bosses, mainly for jumping over their attacks at the same time. It is, however, extremely lousy against the common enemies. They will never get hurt, and just get a free shot at you while you land. Don't use it. =============================================================================== 03.) ROUNDS G0300 =============================================================================== Round 1: ```````` You have around 8 minutes to finish this. First go right and get used to all the easy type enemies. They all go down in one kick. On the right side you will meet Bosoh who carries a long stick. A good way to deal with him is to jump into his attack which will not damage you, then unload a few crouching attacks. He will go down pretty quickly and the key will regenerate your health. Return left and jump up the first chance you get, then keep going left. After the gap, do not step on the third dragon tile as it will disappear and then you have to get back up. You will met Nunchan, who carries nunchakus. After the last boss you should still have plenty of energy left to take him out. Jump up and walk right. Be careful of your health now as you need a lot for the third guy. When the barrier goes down, take care of all the guys following from the left first and then kick it a couple of times. Jump and kick it a few more times more to get through. There are most likely at least 3 enemies waiting behind it including those annoying knife throwers. Dodge the red balls, if you manage to get across one without damage then simply keep walking and they will all go by the same way without doing damage. Meet Warpman, he likes to warp as the name suggests. Watch out for where he pops up and kick him a few times. He takes a lot of damage if you have him in range, but can also be extremely tough on your if are caught from behind. Round 2: ```````` Go right, jump and then walk left. Defeat Nunchan for the first key, then go back right and across the gap. Fall down the next chance you get and continue right. Defeat Bosoh for the second key. Go up and right, defeat Warpman here. Continue onto the top floor. As you go left, dodge the fire balls. They aren't as easy as before. Kick down the barrier, and dodge some more balls. After kicking down the next barrier, be careful not to step on the dragon tile just after it, as it will take you down a floor. After some more enemies and balls you meet RB-TT. He might have a mighty missile that is close to impossible to dodge, but he is pretty weak. Bash him down as you pin him against the wall. Round 3: ```````` Go right and kick down Bosoh for the first key. Return left and jump up the only chance you get. Go left, jump over the third tile after the gap and face Nunchan. Key no. two is yours. Continue going up and go right as you do, taking down the barrier as you meet it. Warpman is next. Jump up again and walk left, drop down and then back up the next time you see a gap in the floor. Destroy RB-TT. Jump up and dodge the red balls. Like in round 1, if you get past one then the rest are also going to miss as you walk along. After the barrier, jump over the next dragon tile or you will fall down quite a bit. Meet HUND, the fifth boss. The only trouble is getting close, as his morning star has a huge reach. Jump over it and he will be forces in a close combat fight, which he will lose if unless you were beaten to a pulp by random enemies since the last boss. Round 4: ```````` Walk right and jump up the first chance you get. Go right past the next opportunity to jump up and descend into the area below. Fight Bosoh for the first key. Now jump up where I told you to ignore the gap, and go right to fight Warpman. Return left a bit and ascend two floors as you see on this screen. First go left, be careful of the tile just right of the column you see on the floor below. Drop down two floors and go left. Destroy RB-TT. Drop down two more floors and again be careful of the tile next to the column. Defeat Nunchan at the bottom. Return all the way to the top, go right until you meet Hund. After he is dead, go up the top floor and dodge the red balls. After the first barrier is down, be careful as the fourth tile drops you down if stepped on. After the second barrier you will meet JONATHAN. This guy cheats like hell, and because of that there isn't much strategy to give you. He might be half invisible but you can still kick him while standing which seems more effective than crouching. When he stops showing up you have to run around a bit, but he will surely pop up right behind you and get a kick in before you even turn around. Good luck with this guy. You do have a farther reach with your kick so it's possible you can get some damage down if he is far away. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From now on the final round will loop, which means you replay the fourth round over and over again for points. Consider this game beaten now that you have reached this point. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- =============================================================================== YY.) MINI-REVIEW GYY00 =============================================================================== This isn't meant to be a full review, just a few notes about the game's pros and cons as well as other things worth mentioning. Gameplay: 3/10 Ultra tough. Crap physics. Too bad there are only a few rounds to give this any long lasting replayability. Graphics: 5/10 Not too bad for a SG-1000 game, has some good dragon themes going. Sound: 8/10 Easily the best the game has to offer, even though it is just the same tune over and over again. Overall: 6/10 One of the better SG-1000 games still. =============================================================================== ZZ.)
