Introduction Hello, and welcome to my Item Searching/Forging FAQ. This guide is designed to answer questions you might have about searching and forging, such as where to find certain materials, and what is needed to make the strongest armor. This FAQ also has some additional information that might help your general game, such Gella Tips and Item Scope Locations. Finally, it will also have a list of all known items and equipments available in the game, along with some stats of the aforementioned items. This is also my first FAQ, so let me know if there’s anything I can correct or add. Oh, and no flames for the sake of being annoying. You might also notice, that I have some weird… well, you’ll find out soon enough. On with the FAQ! =============================================================================== 2. Searching 2.1. Basic Info (s201) Q: What is Searching? A: Searching is a feature that is unlocked in Act 1-5, after you hire your first Drifter. You can access it from the main menu in the World Map. It is used to gather some rare items and materials required for Item/Equipment Forging. Q: So, how do you search? A: When you choose the search function, choose the top option, Dispatch. The game will then ask you where you would like to go. Each location has unique item lists, and different limitations. After you choose a location, the game then asks you how many people will be sent to that location. After deciding, all that’s left is to wait until enough time passes, and the Drifters will return with goodies. Q: Limitations? A: There are 2 different limitations… how many time units are needed to finish searching that place, and the cost/person for searching there. For example, Bandit’s Forest requires 2 time units before the search will be finished, and for every person sent there, it will cost 50 Gella. Q: Time… unit? How do I make it go down? A: For every Random Battle you finish, 1 time unit passes. You can also use the Wait function, but more on that later. Q: So, who should I choose to send? A: Their classes don’t matter, but remember, you can only send out hired Drifters, story characters can’t be sent out to forage. You can send out multiple people (up to 6), and the more you send out, the more items they’ll bring back. Of course, it’ll cost more. Q: Seems like a long process. Can I send multiple search parties to the same location? A: No, only 1 party can search at a location. You’ll need to wait until the party comes back before you send another party to search in that location. You can, however, send multiple search parties to different areas of Elesius. Q: Is that all to Searching? A: Well, there are two more functions available in the Search Menu, Status and Wait. Oh, and Item Scopes. Q: Item Scope? A: Item Scopes are Key Items that are found in various locations in Elesius. Merely possessing it allows you to bring back more items and unlock new items to be found. It also affects Forging list. There are 12 that can be found in total, and AFAIK, none of them are missable. Well, so long as you’re not in Final Act 4, anyway. It should be noted that these carry over in a New Game +. Q: Status? A: Status allows you to check which locations are being searched, and if you choose a location, it will display a list of all Drifters searching there, along with their levels. At the bottom of this list, there is a Recall option. Choosing this option makes everyone from that location return immediately, but you won’t get any items. Q: What about Wait? A: Wait is an option that you’ll be using often during ultimate equipment forging. Wait allows you to spend Gellas in order to bring back your units faster. It costs 100 Gella/Time Unit. Q: Well, I guess that’s it then. Anything else? A: You cannot search a location that is grayed out, like towns and the Heart of Fire. You also cannot search areas that have the sign. Finally, you cannot do a story battle while there are units out searching, so you’ll need to bring all of them back before you continue the story. Q: Hey, some of the materials you listed are wrong! A: Email me, and I will check it. Also, bear in mind that the items you find will change depending on how many Item Scopes you have. 2.2 Items by locations (s202) Q: So what’s this section? A: This is a list of all the Items and Materials that can be found through searching. It will first list the materials by type, and items will be last. The first listed location will be areas where plenty of the materials (around 20) can be found, and are your best bet during material hunting. Note that these item lists are based on items found during Act 3 and 4, with around 7-8 and more Item Scopes. Currently, there are only material locations, but items will be updated soon. A: This one shows what you can find in each area. The first listed item will be items that you will plenty of. The list shows most locations, but still missing a few items and locations. O (Ores), P (Plants), and M (Monster Remains) will be used, and # will indicate what rank it is. For Items, their full name will be shown. For Example: O7, O8, Lucky Card means that you’ll find a lot of Mystic Silvers, along with some Dragon Fossils and Lucky Cards. Oh, and it should be noted that some items don’t specialize in any 1 material, but give a whole bunch of them. These will be denoted with #-#, such as M2-6, which means you can find Monster Remains of Rank 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Q: Hey, I found different Items! A: Email me, and I’ll update it as soon as I confirm it. Oh, and remember that this list was done with more than just 7-8 Item Scopes. Items might also Upgrade (Turn into +1 or +2, or a heal berry becomes a Mega berry, and a Chakram becomes an Angel Halo) depending on how many Item Scopes you have. |=======================|=====================================================| | Name | Materials/Items | |=======================|=====================================================| | Bandit’s Forest | P1, P2, Heal Berry | | Promise Hill | O1, O2, Break Gem, Cyclone Gem | | Creedmore Prison | M1, M2, Luck Card, Gella Card | | Rusty Docks | O2, O1, Fire Gem, Freeze Gem | | Trader’s Road | P2, P1, Antidote | | Windhalt Gatehouse | M2, M1, Potential Egg, Lucky Card | | Fallen Fowl Swamp | P3, P2, P4, Full Revive | | Path to the Shrine | O3, O2, O4, Chakram, Exploder Gem | | Guardian Shrine* | O4, | | West Wind Guidepost | M3, M2, M4, Gella Card, Potential Egg | | Fort Molasar | M4, M3, M5, Lucky Card, Gella Card | | Rainy Pass | O5, O4, O6, Fire Gem, Freeze Gem | | Starlit Path | M5, M6, Lucky Card, Potential Egg | | Rhino River | M6, M5, M7, Potential Egg, Gella Card | | Deserter’s Camp | P4, P3, P5, Nectar | | Dead Plateau | O6, O7, Chakram, Exploder Gem | | Quarry of Desire | O7, O6, O8, Chakram, Exploder Gem | | Frightful Abyss | P5, P4, P6, Medicine | | Wayward Path | O8, O7, Break Gem | | The Flatwoods | M7, M6, M8, Gella Card, Lucky Card | | Rasalom Keep | M8, M7, Potential Egg, Lucky Card | | Circle Valley | M1-5, Gella Card | | Twilight Valley | O1-5, Cyclone Gem | | White Devil Plains | P6, P5, P7, Breath Mint | | Sundome Abbey Ruins | M2-6, Lucky Card | | Lonely Waterside | P7, P6, P8, Pinwheel | | The Frozen Lands | P8, P7, Pygmalion | | Guardian Temple | P1-5, Peppy Acorn | | Path of the Unjust | P2-6, Magic Berry | | Secret Base | O3-7 | | Desert Ocean | M3-7, Gella Card | | The Quiet Sands | P3-7 | | Boot Hill | P4-7 | | Old Capital (?) | O2-6 | | Foothills of No Return| ??? | |=======================|=====================================================| 3. Forging 3.1 Basic Info (s301) Q: Forging items? What’s that? A: It’s a game feature that will finally be unlocked at Act 1-10, which you can access in any of the towns. Forging items is basically creating a whole new item from items you had, for a cost. Q: Ooh, where can I do it? A: As previously said, most towns, go into the Synthesis Shop, and ask them to create new stuff. Q: Can I get creative and mix and match? A: No. Item Synthesis in Wild Arms XF follows a recipe, and you can’t change it. Q: Aww. Well, how do I get more recipes? A: By getting more Item Scopes. The more Item Scopes you have, the more recipes are available to you. The final recipe is unlocked with the 12th Item Scope found. Q: What can I create from Item Forging? A: Many things, Consumable items like the Unholy Berry and Ambrosia that aren’t available in any stores, ultimate weapons, shields, and armors. Q: But do I need to synth to finish the game? A: No. Item Forging, like Item Searching, is completely optional. You can finish the game without synthing a single item, and only using store-bought equips. However, Shops only carry +3 items, although one shop caries +4 for a brief period of time. Q: Where can I get these materials? A: Through Item Searching. Some might require other items or equipments, which you have to buy or forge. Drifters come equipped with the most basic of equipments of their current class when you first hire them, so that could be a source (but axes and shields you need to buy from the store) Q: 120,000 GELLA!!? Are you kidding me? A: Ah, yes, the last few ones (especially the Sheriff Star) have high forging costs, and the materials needed rise as well. For Materials, all you can do is Search for it multiple times, but for Gella problems, refer to section 4 of this guide. Q: Are any of these things… worth it? A: Well, the Sheriff Star is most definitely NOT worth it. Better off killing Ragu O Ragula before Act 4-8 and get it from the Skilled Hunter in Crestabelde. Q: Is that it? A: Well, remember that you can’t make equipment for classes that aren’t available at the moment. 3.2 Item Scope Unlocks (s302) Q: So, what do each Item Scope unlock? A: Here you go. Bear in mind that this list is incomplete, and will only list weapons for now. |=============|==============|=====| | # of Scopes | Equipments |Items| |=============|==============|=====| | 1 | Specialized | | | 2 | S +1 | | | 3 | S +2 | | | 4 | S +3 | | | 5 | S +4 | | | 6 | S +5 | | | 7 | S +6 | | | 8 | Final S | | | 9 | None | | | 10 | Penultimate | | | 11 | Ultimate | | | 12 | Sheriff Star | | |=============|==============|=====| Q: I just realized… you never told me where to find these Item Scopes! A: Refer to the Bonus Section. You can get a max of 12 Item Scopes, and they carry over in a New Game + 3.3 Recipe List Q; This is gonna be big, isn’t it? A: Yep. It will be divided by items first, then weapons by class, then shields, then finally armors by class. For the description of the item or equipment, refer to the item/equipment list in the bonus section. Some recipes make the same thing, but with different materials. =============================================================================== Consumable Item Recipes =============================================================================== |=============|=========|=====================================================| | Name | Cost | Ingredients | |=============|=========|=====================================================| | Potion Berry| 200 | 2 Heal Berry | | Mega Berry | 600 | 1 Potion Berry | | | | 2 Heal Berry | | Holy Berry | 1,200 | 4 Mega Berry | | | | 4 Potion Berry | | | | 4 Heal Berry | | Revive Fruit| 200 | 1 Nectar | | | | 1 Heal Berry | | Full Revive | 3,000 | 5 Revive Fruit | | | | 2 Nectar | | | | 2 Holy Root | | | | 4 Mega Berry | | Holy Root | 2,000 | 2 Antidote | | | | 2 Medicine | | | | 2 Peppy Acorn | | | | 2 Breath Mint | | | | 2 Pinwheel | | | | 2 Pygmalion | | Great Apple | 3,000 | 6 Money Pit | | | | 4 Potential Egg | | | | 10 Nectar | | | | 8 Holy Root | | Ambrosia | 3,500 | 1 Holy Root | | | | 1 Holy Berry | | | | 1 Nectar +2 | | | | 1 Magic Berry +1 | | Exploder Gem| 800 | 4 Break Gem | | | | 4 Cyclone Gem | | | OR | 4 Fire Gem | | | | 4 Freeze Gem | | | OR | 2 Break Gem | | | | 2 Cyclone Gem | | | | 2 Fire Gem | | | | 2 Freeze Gem | | Smart Bomb | 1,000 | 6 Exploder Gem | | | | 4 Break Gem | | | | 2 Fire Gem | | Unholy Berry| 2,000 | 8 Holy Berry | | | | 6 Medicine | | | | 4 Nectar | | Exploder | 1,500 | 10 Fire Gem | | | | 8 Cyclone Gem | | | | 4 Exploder Gem | | Imprisoner | 1,200 | 8 Spirit Crystal | | | | 8 Alraune Pollen | | | | 8 Gigamantis Claw | | | | 2 Freeze Gem | | Money Pit | 1,600 | 10 Gella Card | | | | 4 Pinwheel | | | | 4 Cyclone Gem | | Large Moon | 400 | 8 Ring Edge | | | | 4 Tatzelwurm Horn | |Flying Saucer| 800 | 8 Large Moon | | | | 4 Mantrap Vine | | Dark Nebula | 1,200 | 8 Flying Saucer | | | | 4 Iron Ore | |Circle Zapper| 1,800 | 6 Dark Nebula | | | | 6 Kalivos Claw | | Angel Halo | 2,400 | 6 Circle Zapper | | | | 6 Tabanga Branch | | Buzzsaw | 3,000 | 6 Angel Halo | | | | 6 Elesium | |Break Gem +1 | 1,600 | 4 Break Gem | | | OR | 2 Break Gem | | | | 1 Fire Gem | | | | 1 Freeze Gem | | Cyclone | 1,600 | 4 Cyclone Gem | | Gem +1 | OR | 2 Cyclone Gem | | | | 1 Fire Gem | | | | 1 Freeze Gem | | Fire Gem +1 | 1,600 | 4 Fire Gem | | | OR | 2 Fire Gem | | | | 1 Break Gem | | | | 1 Cyclone Gem | |Freeze Gem +1| 1,600 | 4 Freeze Gem | | | OR | 2 Freeze Gem | | | | 1 Break Gem | | | | 1 Cyclone Gem | | Exploder | 1,800 | 4 Exploder Gem | | Gem +1 | OR | 1 Exploder Gem | | | | 1 Break Gem | | | | 1 Cyclone Gem | | | | 1 Fire Gem | | | | 1 Freeze Gem | | Nectar +1 | 1,000 | 6 Nectar | | | | 4 Heal Berry | | Nectar +2 | 1,500 | 4 Nectar +1 | | | | 4 Potion Berry | | Antidote +1 | 320 | 6 Antidote | | | | 4 Heal Berry | | Antidote +2 | 640 | 4 Antidote +1 | | | | 4 Potion Berry | | Medicine +1 | 320 | 6 Medicine | | | | 4 Heal Berry | | Medicine +2 | 640 | 4 Medicine +1 | | | | 4 Potion Berry | | Peppy | 320 | 6 Peppy Acorn | | Acorn +1 | | 4 Heal Berry | | Peppy | 640 | 4 Peppy Acorn +1 | | Acorn +2 | | 4 Potion Berry | | Breath | 320 | 6 Breath Mint | | Mint +1 | | 4 Heal Berry | | Breath | 640 | 4 Breath Mint +1 | | Mint +2 | | 4 Potion Berry | | Pinwheel +1 | 320 | 6 Pinwheel | | | | 4 Heal Berry | | Pinwheel +2 | 640 | 4 Pinwheel +1 | | | | 4 Potion Berry | | Pygmalion +1| 320 | 6 Pygmalion | | | | 4 Heal Berry | | Pygmalion +2| 640 | 4 Pygmalion +1 | | | | 4 Potion Berry | | Holy Root +1| 3,000 | 6 Holy Root | | | | 4 Heal Berry | | Holy Root +2| 3,500 | 4 Holy Root +1 | | | | 4 Potion Berry | | Magic Berry | 1,200 | 5 Holy Berry | | | | 8 Gigamantis Claw | | | | 8 Kalivos Claw | | | | 8 Tatzelwurm Horn | | Magic | 2,400 | 3 Magic Berry | | Berry +1 | | 8 Belleclaire Horn | | | | 8 A Bao A Qu Drop | | | | 8 Yurung Fang | |=============|=========|=====================================================| =============================================================================== Weapon Recipes =============================================================================== Q: Wait, this is it? There’s like, 16 classes! A: Well, because every weapon/shield/armor requires the exact same thing as their equally leveled counterpart, although there’s one exception, the Sheriff Star. So, instead of wasting time copying the exact same thing over and over again, I can give you the template for every piece of equipment, and I’m 99% done! For the individual equipment stats, check the bonus section. Legend: Basic = The lowest level of equipment. Upgrade (or sell) it ASAP! BTW, Drifters come equipped with these when you first hire them (Except for shields and axes, those you have to buy from the store). Of course, it depends on what class they were when you first hire them. Specialized = Equipment that focuses on 1 stat, there are 3 variants with different focused stats. ATK, AIM, and MAG for weapons, and DEF, EVA, and RES for shields and armors. Specialized +# = Same as above, just an upgrade. Note that a Specialized +2 will always have a higher stat than a +1 in all stats. Specialized Final = These are renamed, but they still focus on 1 stat. Penultimate = No longer focused on 1 stat, but not the strongest. Ultimate = The strongest piece of equipment there is. Well, except for the Sheriff Star, but more on that later. |==============|=========|====================================================| | Type | Cost | Ingredients | |==============|=========|====================================================| Q: What about the Sheriff Star? A: Here you go. It can be found under Fantastica Armor Forge list once you have 12 Item Scopes. Alternatively (seriously, don’t forge it), beat Ragu before Act 4-8 and talk to the skilled Hunter in Crestabelde to obtain a free one, and all you had to do was beat the strongest creature in the game :P Name: Sherrif Star Type: Fantastica Armor Costs: 184,320 Gella Requires: 2 Sword Badge (Ultimate Fantastica Armor) 2 Wicked Sneakers (Ultimate Excavator Armor) 2 Megingjord (Ultimate Grappler Armor) 2 Breidablik (Ultimate High Cavalier Armor) 2 Tiny Flower (Ultimate Dandelion Shot Armor) 2 Warrioress Garb (Ultimate Royal Fencer Armor) 2 Aegis Barrier (Ultimate Shield) =============================================================================== 4. Bonus/Extra Section 4.1 New Game + (s401) Q: A New game +? A: A New Game + mode is available in this game. After beating the Final Boss, You will be asked to save a Clear Data. Loading that Clear Data will allow you to replay the game again, but this time, with perks, such as carrying over the previous playthrough’s data.
Q: Sweet! Say hello to my 10 turn Levin-

A: Not so fast. First of all, you do NOT keep you character’s levels. You don’t
get to keep your character’s class levels and abilities as well. To top it off,
all your hired Drifters are now gone.

Q: What the- then what DO I get to keep?

A: You get to keep your Gella, your Items, and your Equipments. All the more
reason to forge ultimate equips then.

Q: Is that it?

A: Thankfully, no. Each time you start a New Game +, the amount of Gella, Exp,
and CSP you obtain are doubled. Or to be more precise, a multiplier is added.
That is to say, the first New Game + will double it (1x + 1x), then second one
will triple it (1x + 2x), and so on and so forth. Whether there is a maximum
limit or not remains to be seen. There are also rumors that the enemies are
smarter (HAH!), or are at least better equipped.

4.5 Gella

Q: Gella?

A: You know, the money used in the Wild Arms multiverse?

Q: I know that, but why a section just about Gella?

A: Check some of the recipe requirements.

Q: HOLY-

A: Yep. This section will tell you some of the many ways of getting rich,
through honest and dishonest means.

Q: Dishonest?

A: Well, exploiting a glitch really. There are other ways, of course. Make sure
you use the Gella Bonus skill when you’re monster hunting, and don’t forget
Gella Cards.

- Gella Apple

Gella Apples, like Grow Apples and the Creeping Chaos, give you different
Gellas depending on how much damage the final blow did, and how much HP
remaining it had. So, get the Gella Apple’s HP to 1 (or as close to it as
possible), then hit it with all your might. You can encounter them in the
Sundome Abbey Ruins, but they’re rare encounters. If you don’t fight them,
reload. Also, you can find them in the Heart of Fire (After killing Ragu, of
course), but you fight 6 at the same time. It wouldn’t be so bad if they didn’t
hit so hard.

- Blob reproduction.

You know how blobs multiply everytime they get hit by a critical hit? A fellow
user on the board discovered that if you use Gella Card on the blob, all blobs
that are created will also have the Gella Card effect. Not sure how much cash
each blob gives you, actually. You can find them in the Secret Base and the
Rusty Docks. Make sure you maximize the chances of dealing a critical hit.

- Troll Hunting

My favorite method, because it involves my favorite class :P. Around Act 3 and
4, in The Quiet Sands and other places, you’ll find Trolls. These things have
high ATK, and they’ll probably OHKO you if you give them the chance. They also
have lots of HP, but they give a few thousand Gellas with each kill. So, what
to do? Use the Emulator OC, Asphyxiate! That spell has an 80% chance of hitting
Trolls. It’s stronger cousin, Hyperion, is a bit tougher, and Asphyxiate only
has a 40% chance of hitting. They do give more Gella though. Trolls and
Hyperions are also weak to Wind, so that can be an alternative.

- Item Steal Glitch

This glitch turns 1 Consumable item into 255 instantly.

Before we start, a few notes:
1. Sell all but 1 of the item you’re going to duplicate. (Mandatory)
2. Have Labyrinthia master the Gadgeteer Class, and then keep her in it.
(Optional, in case the item is a High Class Item)
3. Labyrinthia has the Grappler OC skill (Optional, in case the item is used
with Item Toss)
4. Labyrinthia has the Arcanist OC skill. (Mandatory)
5. After the trick is done, make sure you sell most of the item IMMEDIATELY, so
at max it’s only 99 (lower okay). Otherwise, bad things might happen.
(Mandatory)
6. If Laby’s slow, you might want to give her RFX +25% and Accelerate, and have
someone else with the Sacred Slayer OC ready to help her. (Optional)

Done? Here’s the trick

1. Go into any map that has a Harpy (Such as the Bandit’s Forest)
2. Equip Labyrinthia with the item you’re going to duplicate.
3. Have Laby cast Replica, try getting it as close as possible to the harpies.
4. Wait until one of the Harpies stole the item from the Replica (You can check
if it’s stolen or not from the status screen)
5. Have Labyrinthia use the item.
6. Finish the battle.

Voila! You now have 255 of said Consumable Item. The Unholy Berry is worth 4800
Gella, earning you more than 1 million Gella easily after every attempt.

Of course, this counts as cheating, and cwcheat is much faster.
