=============================================================================== ---------------------Taiko no Tatsujin Portable for the PSP-------------------- ----------------------------Song List and Lyrics FAQ--------------------------- ----------------------------------Version 1.14--------------------------------- =============================================================================== Author - The Steel (aka Souhei) E-mail - sagasteel[at]hotmail[dot]com Copyright 2005 Brian Thai aka The Steel ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- O-------------------O | | | Table of Contents | | | O-------------------O 1.) Version History 2.) Introduction 3.) Song List 4.) Downloadable Content 5.) Some FAQs 6.) Final Thoughts 7.) Legal Information ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.) Version History v1.14 - Added a new downloadable song. v1.13 - Added a new downloadable song. v1.12 - Added a new downloadable song. Also updated the information for the downloadable songs to include the date of when the song was released for download. v1.11 - Sort of a small update. Added a new downloadable song and remade the Downloadable Content section to give more accurate steps to download new songs. Also added lyrics for the song Neo Melodramatic. v1.10 - Quite a version number change! I decided to make it a "complete" FAQ because I probably won't be done with the lyrics anytime soon, but at least the list of songs are all there! Anyway, added brief information for the 3 new downloadable songs, as well as instructions on how to download them. Also got rid of the Interesting Stuff section. v0.75 - The FAQ went under a tiny bit of renovation, but for the most part, it's the same. Added song names for #23 and #33. Added lyrics for Kata On The Rock. v0.71 - A small update but an important one. I noticed there were some font problems because of a few symbols that looked normal on my computer, but didn't look normal on others, so I fixed it. I also added some small bits of information for various songs. v0.70 - The first version of the guide, not very complete but still enough to be enjoyed by most. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.) Introduction What is Taiko no Tatsujin Portable? Taiko no Tatsujin Portable is a music based game by Namco, much like the music based games by Konami. A similar version of Taiko no Tatsujin for the Playstation 2 had you using a Japanese drum called a Taiko to beat to the music notes that showed up on the screen. In this new portable version of the game, the Taiko accessory is not available, but is still played using the regular buttons on the PSP. This game can also be played at the arcade using a near full sized Taiko, but arcade machines of Taiko no Tatsujin are scarce in North America. What is the object of this FAQ? The object of this FAQ is not to help you play the game, but is designed for those who have an interest in the music from the game. Here you will find some information about the songs played in the game with a full set of lyrics. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.) Song List In this section, I will list the songs in the order that they are in at default, in the game. With each song, I will list the artists that did the songs, lyrics (if they have them of course), and any additional information related to the song. A few things to note is that each song's genre is split up as the game splits them up. I didn't make up the genres. Also note that even though many of these songs have lyrics, I don't have them prepared. If you have lyrics to contribute for a song on this list that I have not covered yet, please e-mail me at the address at the top of this text. One final note is that none of the songs in the Namco Original section has an artist. The reason I did not give an artist, is that it would be pretty difficult for me to find out the artist's for each song, even though I bet that most of the songs are by one composer. The singers in each of the songs are most likely just some cast members for the game that had voice overs. I don't feel that it's a big thing to note there, especially not compared to big J-POP artists, who definitely need to be noted in the song list. Here is a list of all the songs in the game with their respective positions in the game. The songs with a * to the right of their name means that the song needs to be unlocked. The songs with *DL* to the right of their name means the song needs to be downloaded to be played. Refer to the Downloadable Content section if you haven't downloaded them yet and would like to. 1.) Everything got all messed up when they put a remix of this song in DDR... 18.) ignited -Ignited- Title in English: Ignited Artist: T.M. Revolution Genre: Anime Anime: Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny Lyrics: yasashii sono yubi ga owari ni fureru toki ima dake kimi dake shinjite mo iin darou? dare mo ga kuzureteku negai wo motome sugite jibun ga ochite yuku basho wo sagashiteru kizutsukete yureru shika dekinai zawameku omoi ga bokura no shinjitsu nara kowareau kara ugokenai sabishii hane kasanete deau hikari no nai jidai no mabishisa wo misete Other Notes: Lyrics are from www.animelyrics.com by Alison. The "-Ignited-" part of the song name is just a translation of the Japanese lettering in the name. The song name in Japan isn't actually named by saying "Ignited" two times. It seems popular these days to provide a title for a movie or a song or etc. in English lettering, then have it in Japanese lettering after it. T.M. Revolution has done that for several of his songs. 19.) WE WILL ROCK YOU Title in English: We Will Rock You Artist: Queen Genre: Variety Lyrics: Buddy you're a boy make a big noise Playin' in the street gonna be a big man some day You got mud on yo' face You big disgrace Kickin' your can all over the place We will we will rock you We will we will rock you Buddy you're a young man hard man Shoutin' in the street gonna take on the world some day You got blood on yo' face You big disgrace Wavin' your banner all over the place We will we will rock you We will we will rock you Buddy you're an old man poor man Pleadin' with your eyes gonna make you some peace some day You got mud on your face You big disgrace Somebody better put you back in your place We will we will rock you We will we will rock you Other Notes: Lyrics are from www.lyricsfreak.com 20.) Matsuken Samba II Title in English: Matsuken Samba II Artist: Ken Matsudaira Genre: Variety Lyrics: Other Notes: Lyrics will be coming soon. 21.) I'm A Slave 4 U Title in English: I'm A Slave 4 U Artist: Britney Spears Genre: Variety Lyrics: I know I may be young, but I've got feelings too. And I need to do what I feel like doing. So let me go and just listen. All you people look at me like I'm a little girl. Well did you ever think it be okay for me to step into this world. Always saying little girl don't step into the club. Well I'm just tryin' to find out why cause dancing's what I love. Get it get it, get it get it (whoooa) Get it get it, get it get it (whoooooa)(do you like it) Get it get it, get it get it (ooohhhh)(this feels good) I know I may come off quiet, I may come off shy. But I feel like talking, feel like dancing when I see this guy. What's practical is logical. what the hell, who cares? All I know is I'm so happy when you're dancing there. I'm a slave for you. I cannot hold it; I cannot control it. I'm a slave for you. I won't deny it; I'm not trying to hide it. Baby, don't you wanna, dance upon me, (I just wanna dance next to you) To another time and place. Baby, don't you wanna, dance upon me, (are you ready) Leaving behind my name, my age. (lets go) Other Notes: Lyrics are from www.lyricsfreak.com 22.) TRUTH Title in English: Truth Artist: T-Square Genre: Variety Other Notes: Thanks to TraumaFox for letting me know the artist for this song. 23.) Mokusei Title in English: Jupiter Artist: Gustav Holst Genre: Classical Other Notes: The full name of the song is actually Mokusei Kumikyoku Wakusei Yori. In english, it's Jupiter - The Bringer of Jollity. The title in english isn't the translation of the Japanese song name, it is just the name of the song to North Americans. The first two letters on the top right of the name when you go to select it in game spells out as "Mokusei" followed by "Kumikyoku" then "Wakusei" in the square quotes, followed by two more characters "Yori". The last part of the name is "Holst", obviously referring to the composer of the song. The translation of "Kumikyoku 'Wakusei' Yori" would be "The 'Planets' Suite", referring to Holst's suite of songs, one song for each of the planets. This song needs to be unlocked before it can be played. 24.) Turkey Koushinkyoku Title in English: Turkish March Artist: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Genre: Classical Other Notes: In the game, the name "Mozart" is to the left corner of the main song name. 25.) Walkure no Kikou Title in English: Rise of the Valkyries Artist: Richard Wagner Genre: Classical Other Notes: "Walkure" is German for "Valkyrie". In the song name, I decided to keep it as "Walkure" because it sounds most like what the Japanese would say, "Warukyuure", and the song is of German origin. In the game, the name "Wagner" is to the left corner of the main song name. 26.) Miwaku no Rhythm Title in English: Crazy Rhythm Artist: Stephane Grappelli Genre: Classical Lyrics: Other Notes: Lyrics will be coming soon. 27.) Entertainer Title in English: The Entertainer Artist: Scott Joplin Genre: Classical Other Notes: I know that the Japanese do call this song "The Entertainer", however the word "The" is strangely absent in the name of the song in this game. As a result, the original song name listed here is just "Entertainer". 28.) Onpu no Uta Title in English: Song of Notes Genre: Namco Original Lyrics: Other Notes: Lyrics will be coming soon. This song is the same song played in the Tutorial. 29.) Nijiiro Yumeiro Taikoiro Title in English: Rainbow-colored Dream-colored Taiko-colored Genre: Namco Original Lyrics: Other Notes: Lyrics will be coming soon. This song is also the Opening Theme played at the intro of the game. 30.) Donko no First Date Title in English: Donko's First Date Genre: Namco Original Lyrics: Other Notes: Lyrics will be coming soon. This song needs to be unlocked before it can be played. 31.) Taiko no March Title in English: Taiko March Genre: Namco Original Other Notes: None 32.) Mojipittan Medley Title in English: Mojipittan Medley Genre: Namco Original Lyrics: Other Notes: Lyrics will be coming soon. This song is based on the music from the game "Mojipittan". 33.) Mappy Ondo Title in English: Mappy's Marching Song Genre: Namco Original Lyrics: Other Notes: Lyrics will be coming soon. This song is based on the main theme of the game "Mappy". This song needs to be unlocked before it can be played. 34.) Kata On The Rock Title in English: Katamari On The Rocks Genre: Namco Original Lyrics: Katamari damashi Na na na... Osoroi no t-shirts Teami no muffler nado Heart-warming mejiro oshi Hitare etsu! Other Notes: Lyrics are from www.chudahs-corner.com by Ongakusei and edited for this FAQ by The Steel. In the game, it says "~Main Theme" to the left corner of the main song name. This song is from the game "Katamari Damacy". 35.) Dragon Spirit Medley Title in English: Dragon Spirit Medley Genre: Namco Original Other Notes: This song is based on the music from the game "Dragon Spirit". 36.) Scroll Mika Title in English: Scroll Mika Genre: Namco Original Lyrics: Other Notes: Lyrics will be coming soon. 37.) Ridge Racer Title in English: Ridge Racer Genre: Namco Original Other Notes: This song is from the game "Ridge Racer". 38.) Yoku Deru 2000 Title in English: Yoku Deru 2000 Genre: Namco Original Lyrics: Other Notes: Lyrics will be coming soon. There isn't really a way to translate the title, so I just left it as "Yoku Deru 2000". This song needs to be unlocked before it can be played. 39.) Soul Calibur II Title in English: Soul Calibur II Genre: Namco Original Date Released: November 16, 2005 Other Notes: This one should be obvious to most Namco fans! The song is of course, "Brave Sword, Braver Soul" (as titled from Soul Calibur II and from the song select screen in this game) from Soul Calibur II. This song needs to be downloaded before it can be played. 40.) Garyoutensei Title in English: The Final Step Genre: Namco Original Date Released: November 8, 2005 Other Notes: This song needs to be downloaded before it can be played. 41.) KAGEKIYO Title in English: Kagekiyo Genre: Namco Original Date Released: October 25, 2005 Other Notes: "KAGEKIYO" can't really be translated, it's just a name. The lettering to the left of "KAGEKIYO" on the song select screen says "Genpei Toumaden Medley". "Genpei Toumaden" might be better known to North Americans as "Samurai Ghost" (Note: "Genpei Toumaden" does not translate into English as "Samurai Ghost"), although the only American version of the game is for the TurboGrafx-16. "KAGEKIYO" was probably the name of the main theme from the game. As a result, this song is based on the music from the game "Genpei Toumaden". This song needs to be downloaded before it can be played. 42.) Mechadeath. Title in English: Mechadeath Genre: Namco Original Date Released: October 13, 2005 Lyrics: Other Notes: Lyrics will be coming soon. This song needs to be downloaded before it can be played. 43.) Kechadon 2000 Title in English: Kechadon 2000 Genre: Namco Original Date Released: September 27, 2005 Lyrics: Other Notes: Lyrics will be coming soon. Like "Yoku Deru 2000", there isn't really a way to translate the title, so I just left it as "Kechadon 2000". This song needs to be downloaded before it can be played. 44.) Babel no Tou Title in English: Tower of Babel Genre: Namco Original Date Released: September 27, 2005 Other Notes: This song is based on the theme from the game "Tower of Babel". This song needs to be downloaded before it can be played. 45.) Donchan Sekai Ryokou Title in English: Donchan World Tour Genre: Namco Original Date Released: September 27, 2005 Lyrics: Other Notes: Lyrics will be coming soon. This song needs to be downloaded before it can be played. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.) Downloadable Content As of September 27, 2005, Namco has began their downloadable content for this game! In this section, I'll explain how to download these songs incase you haven't yet. How do you download these new songs? That's probably what you're asking if you're lost and want to play these new songs. Well, here is a step by step tutorial on how to download these songs. If you don't want to use this tutorial and would like to use the tutorial at Namco's site, go to http://namco-ch.net/taiko_portable/download/index.php and select the first option to start the tutorial with pictures. Note that this is in all Japanese. Before beginning, check if you have a folder called "PPCD00765_NAMCO_TAIKO" in your SAVEDATA folder in your memory stick. If you have one, it means you've already done the first three steps, and you can start at step 4. 1.) First off, start up your game and go to the Memory Stick Duo options. To get there, go to the main menu in the game, go to the farthest right option, then go to the second option to the left. 2.) After you enter that, select the second option to the left. 3.) After selecting that, you will be faced with a screen that looks very similar to when the game is saving or loading. When it comes to the point where it asks you for something and there are two new options, select the one on the left (the two options were yes and no). It will begin saving a new data folder in your SAVEDATA folder in your memory stick. 4.) Now you can connect your PSP to your computer to access the new savedata you made. Connect it up, and go to your SAVEDATA Folder, then go to the folder called "PPCD00765_NAMCO_TAIKO". 5.) After you have entered this folder, there will be five files, one of which is download.htm. Run that file and it will lead you to a blank page with a link on it. 6.) Click on the link, then the next page looks VERY similar to http://namco-ch.net/taiko_portable/download/index.php however, it is NOT the same. The site above does NOT lead to the downloadable songs. 7.) At this new page, select the green barred option (which should be the second one, NOT the third). This will lead you to a new page where it'll have some information on downloading files correctly that you most likely can't read anyway as it's in all Japanese. 8.) Scroll down at that page until you see two buttons and click on the one on the left. Now you'll be at a page where you can select a song to download. 9.) Select one of the songs you would like to download. Each song will lead you to a page with a picture of DON and KAT in the middle of the page. 10.) If you click on either DON or KAT, your browser will prompt you to download a file. Save this file inside the "PPCD00765_NAMCO_TAIKO" folder in your memory stick. You must download BOTH of the DON and KAT files for a song for the song to work. Each song is between 1.5mb to 2.0mb so you can most likely afford downloading them all even if you only have a 32mb memory stick. After you've downloaded all the songs, go ahead and start up your game again. When you go to play in single song mode, your new songs will be there with a DL stamp. These songs cannot be played in other modes. Well, that's all you need to do to download these songs. Seems like a lot, but it really isn't. Enjoy! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5.) Some FAQs Here, I'll just clarify some things that are too minor to have their own section, along with questions you might have in mind. Q. I have something to contribute to your FAQ! How can I contact you? A. You can e-mail me at the e-mail provided at the top of the FAQ. I'm not the fastest at replying, but I will reply to your e-mail within at least a couple of days. You can also post on the GameFAQs message boards about stuff if you want to get my attention as I check it often, even though there isn't much activity. Q. You translated something wrong! A. I bet I did, so if you know the correction, e-mail it to me. Q. How "soon" are your lyrics coming? A. Your best bet is never. I'm pretty lazy when it comes to compiling lyrics and it's also pretty hard to do, that's why I decided to provide lyrics by other people. Q. You have the songs all out of place! What gives? A. The order of the songs are in the order that is made by default when you play the game. If you've changed the order of the songs, the order here will not be the same as yours. Also, you need to have unlocked every song for your set of songs to match mine. Q. Is this game coming to America? A. Hard to say. As of this FAQ, there is no information on it coming to North America. I highly doubt it will, but you never know. Q. Can you provide a menu translation for this game? A. Sorry, I'm not around doing that, mainly because I doubt I will translate everything properly. I'm sure someone else will make one if there isn't already one around. Q. Does this game have a soundtrack? A. There isn't really a soundtrack for the game itself, but there is a soundtrack that includes many anime songs from all of the Taiko no Tatsujin games called Taiko no Tatsujin: Super Animehit Original Soundtrack. It was recently released on August 24, 2005. There are also two older soundtracks called RED and BLUE that were released in 2003. Q. Can I get the songs in any way? Will you send the songs to me? A. Unless you know me personally, no, I will not send songs to you, however if you want some of the music from this game, I suggest searching online at various sites. One of my favorites is http://www.cdjapan.co.jp for buying CDs. I can't provide any sites with mp3s. Q. I love this game! Can you suggest any other games similar to this one? A. Well there are many versions of Taiko no Tatsujin for the PS2. I would also check out any game made by the Konami subcompany, Bemani, such as Beatmania, Drummania, Guitar Freaks, and many other great music games. Q. This FAQ sucks! A. Thanks a lot, I can feel my self-esteem going up already. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.) Final Thoughts Hurray, this is my first FAQ! I enjoyed working on it. I've always wanted to make a FAQ ever since I've been a part of GameFAQs, but have never found a good game to work on that hadn't already had loads of FAQs on it already. I hope to make more FAQs in the future. I would like to thank the following people and organizations: GameFAQs of course, for hosting this FAQ and being an a great resource on the internet for video games. Megchan, for allowing use many of her romanized lyrics from her site, http://www.megchan.com Cori, also for allowing use of romanized lyrics as well, from her site, http://www.corichan.com Anime Lyrics, for (you guessed it) lyrics for some of the songs in the anime genre. Visit them at http://www.animelyrics.com bookends, for giving me some meaningful advice and a little help with katakana translation for the song list. kuraki_dan, for first bringing up good information on downloadable content long before it came out. xeno-kun, for helping me out with some of the kanji in a couple of the songs. And a final thanks to all the people reading the FAQ and hopefully getting something out of it! Yay! If you feel like you should be thanked, just let me know who you are, and why you should be credited. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7.)
