Amidst several bubbling beakers, the Master reads from the Book of Prophecies, tapping the pages as if lost in thought. Luxu waits for a response) Master of Masters: So that makes you the indisposable number seven. Luxu: Huh. Master of Masters: Come on! It's simple. You six plus me is seven. (The Master gasps) Master of Masters: Wait. Don't tell me I don't count! Luxu: No... Uh, um... (The Master closes his book, sets it on his desk and stands up. He holds out his hand and summons his Keyblade, which has a glowing blue eye embedded in the blade. He proceeds to offer it to Luxu) Master of Masters: Here, take it. (Luxu nods and takes the Keyblade. The voice of a spirit named Chirithy begins to narrate) Chirithy: In the Master's playful and mischievous way, he gave his apprentice Luxu a very important role. What seemed like a simple task was the element that would connect all of the events to come. Long, long ago, all the worlds were still one. One day, this would be called the age of fairy tales. It all began here in Daybreak Town. The Master of Masters had an eye that gazes into the future. (The Master of Masters stands outside, in front of the swinging pendulum of the clock tower, overlooking Daybreak Town) Chirithy: He bestowed upon five of his six apprentices a copy of the Book of Prophecies, in which was written the events to come. [------------------------] [Case of Ira--------(COR)] [------------------------] (The Master of Masters stands in a field outside Daybreak Town, his gaze directed at the clock tower. His apprentice Ira approaches him from behind) Master of Masters: So, did you look through the Book? Ira: Yes. But I'm still analyzing it. (The Master turns around) Master of Masters: Wow, no quick skim for you, huh? Ira: I just prefer to be thorough. Master, is what it says in the last passage true? Master of Masters: Oh, yeah that. Bummer, huh? (He turns back around) Ira: ...Yes. Master of Masters: By the way, if one day I suddenly disappear, I'm countin' on you to keep the others calm. Okay? (He sits down) Ira: Huh? Dis...appear? Master of Masters: Vanish? Dim? Fade? I don't know how to explain it. It's just hypothetical talk. Ira: Okay... (Ira looks down at the ground. Flower petals dance in the wind) Master of Masters: This world is full of light. Ira: Huh? Master of Masters: It's a world comprised of many smaller worlds, all connected, stretching as far as the eye can see. (He picks a dandelion from the ground) Master of Masters: One great light protects us all throughout this vast land. All worlds share one light, one fate. Ira: I take it you're talking about Kingdom Hearts. (The Master fiddles with the dandelion) Master of Masters: Yep! You're right on the money. People believe that the light that is Kingdom Hearts will be here forever. But if it were to disappear, the world would be enveloped in darkness. (He snaps the flower in half) Ira: I understand. And that is why you granted us these Keyblades. With these we can spread the teachings of light, and we can protect Kingdom Hearts from darkness-- Master of Masters: (getting up) No, they're not for protecting Kingdom Hearts. Ira: Huh? Master of Masters: The final passage reads, "On that fated land, a great war shall transpire. Darkness will prevail and the light expire." Ira: Isn't it our duty as Keyblade wielders to prevent this war from taking place? Master of Masters: (stretching) Nah, not possible. Ira: Wha--? Master of Masters: You really think you can change the future? Ira: Then...what do you want us to do? Master of Masters: We have to focus on what comes after. There's no use thinking of ways to change events that we know are gonna happen. (The Master begins to walk away) Ira: But, what about all of those who are here now? And the ones who will be here when the darkness finally comes? Are we to abandon all of them? (The Master chuckles) Master of Masters: C'mon, are you telling me that you think the world can be saved by just seven people? Ira: We have to at least try! With enough Keyblade wielders we could-- Master of Masters: Well, if you wanna give it a shot... Ira: (clenching his fist) Yes. Master of Masters: (chuckles) All righty, good luck! (The Master waves goodbye and leaves. The next scene shows the Master standing in the same spot Ira found him, dandelions swirling through the air. It transitions to an image of the foretellers' Keyblades floating in black space. Ira appears and grabs his Keyblade, swinging it to his side.) Chirithy: And so the reliable Ira, who wore the mask of the unicorn, was given his role to take over for the Master and to lead the others. (The remaining foretellers appear in turn. Invi holds her Keyblade out in front of her, Aced hoists his onto his shoulder, Ava holds hers out in front of her, both hands grasping the hilt, and Gula holds his at his side and looks away from Ava) Chirithy: Similarly, the virtuous Invi, who wore the mask of the snake, was given her role to watch over the others with a fair eye. The fearless Aced, who wore the mask of the bear, was given his role to support their brand-new leader, Ira. The prudent Ava, who wore the mask of the fox, was given her role to prepare exceptional Keyblade wielders for the world after. The coolheaded Gula, who wore the mask of the leopard, was given his role to uncover the mystery of the Book of Prophecies. (Luxu walks through a desert, carrying the Master's Keyblade and dragging along a black box behind him) Chirithy: Luxu, the first of the apprentices to be given their role, watched his companions from afar, as they learned what it was that they were meant to do, then, he disappeared. Not long after that, the Master vanished, dimmed, and faded without a trace. (The Master turns away from Daybreak Town and walks off. The next shot shows the fountain plaza in Daybreak Town. A Keyblade wielder holds his weapon as high as he can, pointing it at the sky. Following this, several Keyblade wielders are shown facing off against a Darkside Heartless) Chirithy: This is where your story began, the story of your very own adventure. (In his room in the clock tower, the Master holds a meeting with Ava, Ira, Invi, Aced, and Gula. The Book of Prophecies sits on the desk behind him) Chirithy: Five of the Master's apprentices armed themselves with the Book of Prophecies. They each created a Union. This would fulfill his wishes. Then, they set out to rally Keyblade wielders just like you. By defeating Heartless, the monsters of darkness, they would gather light. KINGDOM HEARTS x [chi] --Back Cover-- [-----------------------] [Assembly----------(ABY)] [-----------------------] (In the present day, the five foretellers are gathered in their conference room in the clock tower. Ira and Aced are standing, Ava and Invi are sitting in their chairs at the table, and Gula sits on the rim of the table) Ira: There's a traitor among us. (Silence fills the room, which Invi breaks) Invi: Are you certain? What proof do you have? (Ira holds out his hand and conjures a Chirithy out of light) Ira: I found this sniffing around. Ava: Is that...a dark Chirithy? (Ava gasps. Everyone looks at Invi) Invi: (standing up) Is that...a Nightmare? (The others look at Ira in shock. They each remember when they first learned of the Chirithy from the Master of Masters in his room. The Master carries a test tube holding a sleeping Chirithy and places it on his desk. Ava approaches the creature excitedly) Ava: Master, did you make this? It's so cute! Master of Masters: Well, things are gonna get pretty hectic around here soon. But this Spirit Chirithy is gonna make your lives much easier! Hopefully. Gula: Spirit? Master of Masters: (grabbing the test tube) You could say they're like cats or dogs. And they'll be your loyal pets. (He taps the glass, rousing the Chirithy from its sleep. It tries to grab the Master's hand, but falls on its back) Master of Masters: Every wielder will have one of these adorable little guys at their side. They're here to help, so play nice! Ava: Okay! Master of Masters: (setting down the tube) Oh, right, before I forget... (The remaining foretellers direct their attention towards the Master) Master of Masters: If a wielder is overcome by malice--or rather, if their heart is tainted by darkness--their adorable little Spirit will turn dark and become a Nightmare. Ira: So you're telling us that if we see a Nightmare... Invi: Someone has fallen into darkness. Master of Masters: Exactly. (As he speaks, the Master tilts the test tube and peers inside it) Master of Masters: And if you don't stop this renegade Spirit, it'll plant darkness in the hearts of others and you'll have an army of Nightmares on your hands. Beware. Aced: So, if we see one of these Nightmares anywhere, we have to get rid of it on the spot. Ava: No! I won't let you do that! Gula: No wonder you ended up as the bear. You're scary. Aced: Your point? Ava: Maybe you can growl at them? Aced: (lost in thought) Hmm... (Invi and Ira stifle back laughter. Aced gasps in realization) Aced: Don't insult me! Master of Masters: (putting on a goofy voice) Come on, Aced. You won't know if it works unless you try. (The Master and the other foretellers laugh, leaving a stunned expression on Aced's face) Aced: Please tell me you're joking. (Back in the present...) Aced: It's not me. Gula: There's an easy way to solve this. If we all summon our Spirits, then we'll know. Invi: Unfortunately, there are countless wielders in our Unions. It would be easy for any of us to summon a Chirithy that isn't a Nightmare. I'm afraid that your suggestion wouldn't help us get to the bottom of this. (Ava stands up and places her hands on the table) Ava: Yeah, in that case, who's to say that the Nightmare you saw belongs to one of us? It could belong to anyone in our Unions. Ira: That's highly unlikely. Do you recall the tool the wielders were given in order to make them stronger? We generally don't concern ourselves with what they have at their disposal. However--I believe those tools were the Nightmare's doing. Ava: The bangles? I know when they're equipped, they have the power to collect dark energy, but I thought we all agreed that was okay. Ira: Collecting is fine. But using that power is the equivalent of using the power of darkness. (Gula sighs) Gula: It's a brilliant plan. Everyone knows that all Spirits look the same, and wielders exist in spades. There's no way to tell. Ava: Oh, no. Everyone's already equipped their bangles. (Aced steps forward) Aced: So what now? How do we find out who's behind this? Ira: Seeing as those bangles couldn't have been acquired by just anyone, I believe it's one of us here in this room. Invi: No, Ira. I respectfully disagree. What proof do we have that the bangles are tied to the power of darkness, or if a Nightmare is to blame? We shouldn't simply jump to conclusions. Aced: Ira. Some leader you are. You've managed to plant seeds of doubt in all of us with that speech. What? Did you expect the traitor to give themselves up with that accusation of yours? (Ira looks affronted) Aced: That was foolish. Invi: Aced, that's quite enough. (Ava looks worried and sits back down) Aced: It looks to me like the Master made the wrong choice. (Aced starts to leave) Invi: (standing up) Wait. Where do you think you're going? (Aced walks out the door. Gula starts to follow suit) Gula: I think we're done here. I trust you'll keep us all updated. (Gula leaves) Ava: I hope... I hope we can all resolve this soon... (Ava bows her head and leaves as well) Ira: That didn't go as expected. Invi: What's wrong, Ira? This isn't like you. Ira: A Lost Page... Something's missing from our Book of Prophecies. (Ira walks over to his desk and examines his copy of the Book) Ira: Each of our copies were said to contain the events of the future. But this incident, well, it's nowhere to be found. Invi: And how does this whole thing with the traitor tie together? Ira: Like I said, it's nowhere to be found...in my Book. (Invi gasps and opens her own copy of the Book) Invi: Ira. Are you implying that someone is in possession of the missing page? And the person with the complete Book is the traitor? Ira: There is something going on, and a page is suspiciously missing from the Book. It's not so far-fetched to assume that the one who has the Lost Page has been turned, that they have fallen into the hands of darkness. Trust me. Invi: There seems to be no record of it in my Book either. You may be onto something. I wonder... Could this have been the Master's plan all along? To grant the Lost Page to only one of us. Ira: We have no way of knowing. The Master is gone. Invi: I understand what you are saying. I promise to keep a close eye on the others. I will keep you informed, as always. Ira: Thanks. Invi: Of course. After all, that is what the Master asked of me. (Invi starts to walk away) Invi: (placing her hand on her chest) And Ira, may your heart be your guiding key. (Invi leaves) [-------------------------] [Case of Invi--------(COI)] [-------------------------] (Prior to his disappearance, the Master of Masters briefs Invi on her role in his room) Master of Masters: So, to sum it up, (clasping his hand on her shoulder) I'll need you to observe the others. Easy breezy. Invi: A-all right. Master of Masters. Hmm. (tapping her shoulder) Like I said, Ira may have to take over for me... But don't be shy. Just be fair. And do not be afraid to speak up! Even though I say "observe," you'll need to be the mediator; make sure people get along. Invi: I understand, but...without you or Luxu, to form and maintain our own Unions is... It's a little unnerving, to be honest. Master of Masters: Oh, come on. Lighten up a little! Maybe I'll never disappear. Wait. Do you want me to go? Invi: What? N-no! Of course not! (The Master laughs and pats her head) Master of Masters: I was just kidding! Invi: Oh... I see... Master of Masters: Look, I get that change can be hard for everyone. But things need to keep moving forward. And you need to keep up. Otherwise, you'll just get left behind all alone. Now that you know what the future holds, Invi, what does your heart say? (He chuckles and place a hand on his chest) Master of Masters: "May your heart be your guiding key." I say it all the time; you ultimately need to do what your heart feels is right. (Invi smiles) Invi: Right. (Back in the present...) [A few days later---] (Gula, Ava and Aced convene in a warehouse in Daybreak Town. Gula and Ava sit on boxes while Aced paces up and down) Aced: I was wrong about Ira. I thought he would make a great leader, but he let me down. Well, what do you two think? You don't believe what Ira said, do you? Gula: Of course not. His argument was unconvincing. It's like Invi said, he's just making baseless assumptions given the situation. There's no evidence to tie his accusations to anyone, let alone one of us. Ava: (sighing) Maybe there's something he hasn't told us. Aced: Then he needs to tell us. How dare he look at us with suspicion. We're his comrades! Gula: I wouldn't call us "comrades"... Anyway, could you get to the point? I know you didn't call us here just to complain. Aced: I want the three of us to form an alliance. Ava: But alliances are forbidden, Aced! Gula: I knew it. I had a feeling it would come to this. So, we join forces, then confront Ira? Aced: Confronting him is pointless. Ira won't change his mind. (Gula sighs) Aced: I know there's darkness at work. There's no question. But, I don't believe for a second there's a traitor among us. Unfortunately, Ira doesn't share the same belief. He's just wasting time trying to figure out who the traitor is. But darkness won't wait and neither should we. We need to band together now and find a way to fight it. Gula: Ah... Guess it makes sense. Ava: I agree that we need to do something to fight the darkness, but combining our Unions? That was strictly forbidden by the Master. Aced: He's no longer here. Gula: I'm in. But let's be clear: the alliance is just between the two of us right now. I don't want my Union members involved. Ava: Gula! (Aced fixes his gaze on Ava, who gasps in return) Ava: I want... I want to follow the Master's teachings. Aced: Understood. That's your choice to make. You should do whatever you feel is right. Ava: Yeah. Gula: By the way, Aced. Do Ira and Invi know? Aced: I haven't talked to Ira about it for obvious reasons, but I did ask Invi to join us. (From outside, Invi approaches and enters the building) Invi: You wanted to see me? (Upon seeing Invi, Ava gasps and looks away) Invi: Gula, Ava, what are you doing here? What's the meaning of this? Aced: Hear me out, Invi. I want an alliance among our Unions. Gula here has already agreed. Will you join us and together we can-- Invi: And disobey the Master's teachings!? Aced: We don't have a choice! Darkness is approaching and we need to combine our strength to stand against it. Invi: The Master bestowed each of us with a different role and he specifically told us to keep our Unions separate to maintain the balance of power. He told us that any imbalance would lead to a desire for more power, which leads to darkness. I know you haven't forgotten! Perhaps...it's you who has been tainted by darkness. (Invi recoils after making this proclamation. Aced balls his hands into fists) Aced: I'm tainted by darkness? Then what about you, Invi? You spy on us and report everything you see back to Ira! You really think you have no darkness in your heart after what you did!? Invi: Because that is my role. Aced: To observe us, yes. But not to disclose everything we say and do to Ira! Invi: That's... Aced: For all we know, you and Ira could be allies, scheming behind our backs! Invi: That's enough. (Ava looks on, concerned. Later, she sits alone on the fountain in the plaza) Ava: When will it stop? I don't want us to turn against each other... (A boy approaches) Boy: Master Ava! (Surprised, Ava looks up at the boy) Ava: Oh. Hello! Your name is Ephemer, right? Ephemer: Uh-huh! Uh, hey, can I join you? Ava: Uh-huh. (Ephemer sits next to her) Ephemer: Why the long face? Did something happen? Ava: Hmm... Long day... Do you remember what you asked me before? About why the Unions compete against each other instead of working together. Actually, I always wondered the same thing. Ephemer: Huh? Isn't it just because the Master said so? Ava: Yes, and as such we must obey. The Master said so, so it is. But lately, I've really started to wonder. You once told me that you were looking for answers, that you wanted to solve the mysteries of this world. Well, I think that's how things should be. We need to question things and think for ourselves. Ephemer: Whoa! You're really not yourself today. I guess even foretellers have their off days. Hey, maybe talking about the Book will cheer you up! Ava: Not a chance! Ephemer: (pouting) Awww. Ava: You were trying to pull a fast one on me, weren't you? Ephemer: Uh... No, no, I was joking! Ava: (smirking) If you say so. But, to be honest, I think it would be great if all the Unions could work together and be friends. (Ephemer smiles) Ephemer: You know, I made a friend from another Union today. Wasn't much of a talker, maybe just shy. We're meeting again tomorrow. Ava: That sounds like so much fun! Then, you'd better go home and get some sleep. Ephemer: 'Kay! (Ephemer gets up and starts to sprint away, turning back to bid Ava farewell) Ephemer: (taking a bow) Well, it was nice talking to you. I don't know what's got you down, but please cheer up! (Ava smiles back. Ephemer leaves) Ava: Thank you. If the worst happens, I'll be glad to leave the future to the kids who see the world in the way that you do. (Ava looks up. Dandelions float through the sky) Ava: Let the wind carry you far, far away...my Dandelions. (In the conference room, Ira flips through his Book of Prophecies. Invi walks in) Ira: Invi, have you learned something? Invi: It seems Aced and Gula's Unions are now allied. Ira: So Aced is the traitor after all. Invi: No, I don't believe he is. Ira: Why's that? Invi: To Aced, unification is a means of gathering strength to oppose the darkness. So I believe his heart still belongs to the light. Ira: Even so, forming alliances was strictly forbidden by the Master. Invi: Yes, and his teachings are absolute. That's why I will try and persuade Gula to dissolve their alliance. Ira: Then, I'll do it. Invi: No. Please, let me do the talking. Your intervention will do nothing more than spur Aced's anger. Ira: All right. I'll leave it to you. Invi: And one more thing. Aced has begun to question the two of us. As a precaution, my reports will be less frequent. I don't want him to get the wrong idea. Please understand. Ira: Yes, I do. (Invi leaves and Ira returns to his Book. He goes to flip the page he was on, which describes the Heartless and the Keyblade, but stops to examine the page further) [------------------------] [Case of Aced-------(COA)] [------------------------] [A few months later---] (Gula and Aced enter the warehouse together) Gula: I think I'm done. Aced: Done with what? Gula: (chuckles) The alliance. I think it's time to call it quits. Aced: For what reason? Gula: To put it simply, I entered this alliance thinking we were preparing to fight some impending darkness, but it hasn't come. In fact, there haven't been any suspicious incidents recently, and you haven't rallied anyone else to your cause. Aced: Yeah, but... (Gula sits down on a box and sighs) Gula: This alliance is meaningless. Even Invi agrees. (catching himself) Oh... Aced: Invi!? (His temper rising, Aced walks over to Gula) Gula: (nonchalantly) Uh-oh, you weren't supposed to find out. Aced: Is Invi the one who told you to break our alliance? Gula: Uh... (sighs) Maybe. But I'm the one who decided to do it, and I've already told you why. (Aced grabs Gula by the collar) Aced: But we don't even know who the traitor is yet! Gula: And that's exactly why. (Aced lets Gula go. Gula readjusts his cloak and Aced looks down. Gula takes a deep breath) Gula: I just can't trust anyone but myself. (Gula turns to leave) Aced: Don't you realize you won't stand a chance against the darkness on your own? Gula: Sorry, my mind's made up. (Gula makes his exit, leaving Aced to stew in his anger) Aced: Invi, you will regret this! (In the past, Aced enters the Master of Masters' room. It is unoccupied, save for him) Master of Masters: You been here long? (chuckling) My bad. (The Master enters) Aced: No. (The Master sits down at his desk) Master of Masters: So, what did you want? Aced: (caught off guard) Uh... You didn't forget, did you? You're the one who called me here. Master of Masters: (laughs) Lighten up. I was just kidding! I didn't forget. Give me a little credit here. I was just testing you! Aced: R-right... Master of Masters: Now then, allow me to tell you about your role. You're going to be Ira's right-hand man. Aced: What? Ira's right-hand man? What do you mean? (The Master flips through his Book of Prophecies) Master of Masters: Well, Ira's gonna be the new leader after I'm gone, you see, so just stand by him. Don't disappoint. Aced: Explain to me, Master. What do you mean Ira's going to be leader? Master of Masters: What? Is that disappointment I hear? Did you want to be leader? Aced: No! I mean, if you had asked me to be the leader, that's a different story, but I wasn't trying-- Master of Masters: You really wanna be leader, huh? Aced: (bashfully) I, well... Master of Masters: I know you want it, but that just isn't enough. Any chump can say, (pointing at Aced and putting on a deep voice) "You! Here's a huge promotion. Good job!" (he thumbs up) and make you head honcho, but enthusiasm alone doesn't make a great leader. Ira needs someone like you to give him a push in the right direction. Aced: (suppressing disappointment) Uhh... I agree, Ira is definitely the most worthy among us. I'm sure he'll make a fine leader. Master of Masters: Heh. Then it's settled. Aced: Wait. I agreed that he is worthy. But why do we need a new leader, Master? Does, does that mean you will no longer be teaching us? Master of Masters: Well... I might disappear one day... (Aced's face, mouth agape, is frozen in shock. The Master looks at him expectantly) Master of Masters: Uh... Well... I might disappear-- Aced: Disappear!? Why? Where!? Master of Masters: Speak up sooner if you're listening. That was embarrassing for me! Anyway, I don't know if I'm gonna disappear or not. It's anyone's guess right now. Aced: But... Master of Masters: In any case, you need to support Ira. We both know he's quite serious. He's always just thinking and thinking and thinking behind that unicorn mask of his, so everyone will be counting on you to spur him into action. Aced: Uh...right. (They nod in agreement) Master of Masters: You might not be entirely happy with your role, but just know that it's the most important one. (clasping Aced on the shoulder) Capiche? Aced: Huh? Master of Masters: Shall I elaborate? Making Ira the leader is all good in theory, but sometime later you might think, (in a whiny voice) "eh, he's terrible at this," in which case it'll be your job to step up. Who knows? Your leadership might be just what everyone needs. And that is your true role. (Aced smiles and nods. The Master places his hand on his chest) Master of Masters: May your heart be your guiding key. Best of luck, Aced! (In the present day...) [A few months later---] Aced: It's been over a year since the Master left. It's time for me to fulfill my true role. (On the rooftops of Daybreak Town, Aced, Keyblade drawn, strikes at Invi from the air. Invi jumps off the building she is standing on and summons her own Keyblade. Aced gives pursuit and their Keyblades clash in mid-air. Invi performs a backflip and attempts to create distance by running across the side of a house, narrowly avoiding another of Aced's attacks. The two warriors clash again and fall into the street below with a powerful crash. Aced fires a diagonal wave of energy at Invi. She narrowly avoids it and locks Keyblades with Aced again) Aced: Why do you get in my way? (Aced knocks Invi's Keyblade out of her hand and it falls behind him, embedding itself in the ground. Invi catches her breath) Invi: Don't be so conceited! I'm protecting the balance, just like the Master told us to! (Five flower petals float in the river behind Invi and are separated by the flowing water) Invi: You need to come to your senses! (Aced glares at her angrily and slowly walks toward her. Gula secretly watches from an alleyway) Aced: If we don't do something, light will expire! Then we won't be able to avoid the grim future that awaits. We need to defy the Master's teachings to protect the world! Invi: You're saying he was wrong!? Aced: He's not here anymore. I won't let his prophecy come true. I won't let the world fall into darkness! (Aced fires an X-shaped wave of energy at Invi, much to Gula's surprise) Invi: You fool! (Invi wills her Keyblade to return to her hand and uses it to control the water from the river. The water envelops the energy blast, causing it to disappear and momentarily obscuring Aced's vision. Invi uses this opportunity to leap through the water and get behind Aced to land a strike. Aced raises his Keyblade just in time and blocks Invi's attack. The force of this clash sends Aced flying through the air . After landing on his feet, he plunges his Keyblade into the ground to halt his backwards momentum. He slumps to the ground after stopping. Gula looks on and smirks. To Gula's left, a Chirithy is leading Ava to the scene of the battle. They look around, and Gula tries to get her attention) Gula: Ava, over here! (Ava sees him. Invi approaches Aced, Keyblade drawn. Ava and Gula intervene) Ava: Invi, Aced! What's going on!? Invi: I found out who the traitor is, regrettably. (Ava gasps) Ava: No, that's not true! (Ava and Gula face Aced. Gula draws his Keyblade) Gula: Ava, there's no time to lose! (Aced faces Gula and props himself up to his feet. Ava, conflicted, summons her own Keyblade. Aced raises his and takes a stance) Aced: May my heart be my guiding key. (Aced rushes forward to attack the other foretellers. A battle rages) [------------------------] [Case of Gula-------(COG)] [------------------------] (Gula stands in an alley by himself, looking at a page torn from the Book of Prophecies. Back in the past, the Master of Masters is reading from the Book of Prophecies in his room. Gula enters) Master of Masters: Mhm... Ah... Gula: (bowing) Master. Master of Masters: (ignoring him): Hm... (Confused, Gula peeks past the Master's head) Gula: Um...Master? Master of Masters: (still ignoring him) Oh, I see. Gula: If you're busy, I can always come back later. Master of Masters: Sure. Oh! No, no no, stay! (flipping through the Book) Now where-- Ah, here it is! (After reaching his desired page, he tears it out of the Book. He stands up and hands it to Gula, who takes it) Gula: What's this? Master of Masters: Go on, read it. (Gula reads the page and gasps) Gula: This is from the Book of Prophecies. But-- Master of Masters: Yup. It's a page that's not in any of your Books. Gula: And what's written here is... Master of Masters: Your role. You must find the traitor hidden among you, and stop them before it's too late. And in order to help you find the traitor-- Gula: (pondering) I get it. That's why you gave us all different roles, isn't it? If anyone deviates from the job they were given, we can easily conclude that they are the traitor. It's brilliant. Master of Masters: Way to steal my thunder, show-off! Gula: Huh? (The Master speaks in a pouty, followed by an animated, fashion, making exaggerated gestures) Master of Masters: It's not fair. My plan was supposed to blow your mind with its grandeur. Your jaw should've hit the floor at my sheer genius! Gula: I'm...sorry? But was my logic flaw ed? Master of Masters: (begrudgingly) No, you're right. So, I guess now you've earned your time in the limelight. (The Master slumps into his chair and speaks in a serious monotone) Master of Masters: Even though there is a traitor, act normal and keep focused. Trust no one but yourself. (Gula gasps and steels himself, clutching the torn page tightly. In the present, Gula looks up from the page and sticks it in his robe) Gula: Trust no one but myself. (Gula leaves the alley. In the Daybreak Town warehouse, Aced is sitting alone, resting his shoulder on a box and gasping for air. He is covered in grime and sweat. Gula enters the building) Aced: Gula... (Gula approaches him) Gula: Do you wanna know what my role is? Aced: Huh? Gula: The Books we were given are incomplete. There's a Lost Page. (Aced stands up with difficulty) Aced: Lost Page? Gula: On that page, it is written that there is a traitor. The Master told me...to find and stop that person. (Gula summons his Keyblade and points it at Aced) Aced: I called you my "comrade." But never again, Gula. It doesn't matter to me if you think I am the traitor and you want to strike me down. (Gula begins to hesitate as Aced's fury rises) Aced: You knew there was a traitor, and you just watched silently as we fought each other, and I won't forgive you for that. (Aced walks toward Gula, who backs away in fear) Gula: You can barely stay on your feet! Just give up already! Aced: Don't you underestimate me! (Aced summons his Keyblade. Gula grasps his blade with both hands and takes on a fighting stance. Their blades clash. Ava hurriedly runs into the warehouse as Gula falls to the ground, his Keyblade dissipating. Ava gasps and slides in between Gula and Aced. She holds her hand high to halt Aced) Ava: Please stop! (Ava frightfully awaits Aced's next move. Aced, out of breath, prepares to strike. A terrified Ava shields Gula with her body. Aced gasps and dismisses his Keyblade. He looks at Ava in frustration) Aced: You too, huh? (Aced limps out of the warehouse. Ava watches him leave and proceeds to stand up, carrying the now unconscious Gula) Ava: Why? Why did it have to come to this? (Aced wanders through a street in the town, using the side of a building for leverage in his weakened state. As rain begins to fall, he runs into Ira) Aced: Come to finish me off? Then make it quick. (He slumps to the ground in defeat. Ira walks toward him) Ira: That's not what brought me here today. I wish to fulfill the role bestowed upon me, that's all. It isn't our place to try to change the events of the future; that is not our mission. We're here to make sure that light lives on. With only five lights, we can't afford to lose any. Aced: You...still count me as one of the five lights? (Ira clasps Aced's shoulder) Ira: Of course. Aced: Heh... Only you could be such a good guy after everything we've been through. (Ira helps Aced to his feet) Aced: But hey, I guess that's one of the reasons I respect you so much. However, we still might only be four. (Ira looks confused) Aced: I'm talking about Gula. He's using the knowledge of something called the Lost Page. (Ira gasps. Aced balls his hand into a fist) Aced: He said that it contains events that are missing from all of our Books. He's using it to discover and apprehend whoever is the traitor, claims that's his role. (He leans against the building) But who knows what his real intentions are? What I do know is that I'll never forgive him for hiding the fact that he knew someone would betray us. That's the biggest betrayal of all. (Ira clasps Aced on the shoulder and faces him) Ira: I'd like to believe that Gula was simply carrying out his role... Aced, I'll deal with this matter. Please keep it to yourself for now. Aced: Understood. (Ira walks away) Ira: I need to see that Lost Page. [A few days later--] (On a bridge in Daybreak Town, Ava confronts Invi) Ava: Why did you tell Ira? It had to be you because you were the only one who knew where we were hiding. Didn't you think for a second that your actions could be making things worse than they already are? Invi: And why should that even bother you? Not only do you have your Union but you've also gathered the finest Keyblade wielders from other Unions and you're training them in a secret location, aren't you? Ava: Yes, because that is my role! (Invi gasps) Invi: I had no idea... I apologize, I overstepped. Ava: No, I shouldn't have snapped at you either. Invi: What did Ira want? Ava: (gasps) I don't know exactly. He just asked me to give up Gula. His eyes... They were...scary. I was worried he'd do something awful. I knew I couldn't tell him where Gula was. Then he turned around and walked away. Invi: I see. And Gula? How is he doing? Ava: I don't know. He's gone. (Ava recalls when Ira confronted her about Gula. Ava's Chirithy runs to her and Gula's hiding spot under the bridge and meets them) Chirithy: Someone's coming! They're headed straight this way! (Ava affectionately scratches his chin) Ava: Take care of him. (Ava leaves Gula in her Chirithy's care. She walks up the stairs to the bridge and spots Ira in the distance) Ava: Ira? (She runs over to him) Ava: Is something wrong? Ira: I know Gula's here. Ava: What!? (She looks down, concerned) Ira: Tell me where he is. Ava: But why? What are you going to do? Ira: None of your concern. (Ava bars Ira's path) Ava: Don't. Ira: What? Ava: I won't let you near him. Ira: So that's it... All right. I'll go. (Ira leaves. Ava hurries back to Gula. She finds him crawling on the ground, pushing a box out of his way) Ava: Gula, what are you doing!? (She goes to help him, but Gula holds up his hand to stop her. He rests his back on a wall and sighs, his body weak and his cloak dirty) Gula: Something happen? Ava: Ira was here. He wanted me to give you up. Gula: I knew it. It's finally come to this. Ava: Come to what? Gula: Everyone wants to know about the Lost Page. Ava: The Lost Page? Gula: Yeah. It's a page the Master gave me. It doesn't exist in any of our Books. It contains a passage about an inevitable betrayal. It talks about "the one who bears the sigil." That's it. So, I don't know what to make of it to be honest. My role is to find out who it is. I suspected Aced and went to confront him. (he laughs weakly) And look what happened. Ava: Why are you telling me this, Gula? I have enough to think about keeping with the Master's teachings and my role. (Gula touches her hand) Gula: Always walking the straight and narrow. I'm a fool for basing my actions on what is written on that Lost Page. Everything in the passage is ambiguous at best. (gripping Ava's hand more tightly) That's why I need to find out. Ava: But how? Gula: By asking the Master. Ava: But he's not here anymore. Gula: I'm going to summon Kingdom Hearts. Ava: What!? Gula: Then he'll have no choice but to come back. Ava: Summoning Kingdom Hearts is forbidden! Gula: That's exactly why! (Gula grasps Ava's hand with both of his and pleads with her) Gula: The only way to get him back is to break the rules! If things don't change, the entire world is doomed! But, in order to go through with it, I'll need Lux. I don't have nearly enough! You always do the right thing. Help me with this. (Ava sighs) Ava: I'm sorry. I know you want the Master to return, (gently placing her hands on his) but you don't know how summoning Kingdom Hearts will affect the rest of the world. The Master... He forbid it for a reason. I'm afraid I can't help you. Gula: I see. (Gula stands up and begins to slowly walk away. He places his hand on his chest) Gula: May your heart be your guiding key. (Gula leaves Ava by herself. Back in the present, Ava talks with Invi on the bridge) Ava: Gula's on a mission to collect Lux. Invi: Ah. That explains why Aced and Ira are as well. They're trying to maintain the balance. But, that isn't the balance we were expected to keep. If everyone's collecting light solely for themselves, Keyblade wielders will soon turn against one another, which will lead to...the Keyblade War. Ava: Then what's written in the Book, all of it will happen... Invi: Light will expire. Ava: Invi, what are you going to do? Invi: I'll gather Lux, too. No matter what, the balance must be kept. Ava, you do the same. We must...delay the inevitable. Ava: Right... (Invi leaves) [-----------------------] [Case of Ava-------(COV)] [-----------------------] (Ava stands near patches of flowers, which include dandelions, within the fountain plaza. She leans down and smiles at the flowers, before her smile falters into a gasp. In the past, Ava meets with the Master of Masters in his room to learn of her role. She is anxious, but she readies herself to hear the Master's words. The Master, sitting at his desk, closes the Book of Prophecies) Master of Masters: What's written in the last page of the Book is gonna happen. (standing up) The entire world will be lost to darkness. Ava: But Master, isn't there anything we can do? Master of Masters: Well, that's what brings me to your role. You might just be the only hope of keeping light from expiring. (Ava gasps softly. The Master faces her) Ava: Hope? Master, what is it that you need me to do? (The Master pats her head) Ava: Oh? Master of Masters: Don't get involved in any battles, forget the notion of Unions, find Keyblade wielders with potential, and create an entirely separate organization. Then, like the seeds of a dandelion, let them fly to another world. They will keep the light alive. Ava: You really think that...I'm the right person for this? Master of Masters: Ava, you're the only person for this. Ava: I understand. (In the present, Ava holds a meeting with her organization, the Dandelions. She gives a speech to many young Keyblade wielders in the fountain plaza) Ava: Today you're here to continue with your training for our mission. This session may seem like it's familiar to you, but in a world that is different, one made of dreams... (She takes a moment of pause) Ava: You are our hope. (The crowd looks surprised and curious) Ava: A war will soon wage. Those who strive to protect the light will turn their weapons on their allies for the sake of loyalty to their own Unions. To be honest, I don't know how far I can guide all of you. What you must remember is that anyone can lose themselves to the darkness. However, there will be no winners; everything will be lost. Except, all of you who are the seeds of hope. When the time comes, and there is war, you mustn't fight, but instead you must fly away from here to the world outside. This training is to help you fulfill this crucial task. The future is in all your hands--as is the world's light. (placing a hand on her chest) May your hearts be your guiding key. [-------------------------] [Case of Luxu--------(COL)] [-------------------------] (In the Master of Masters' room, Luxu is holding the Master's Keyblade. He asks the Master about the blue eye in the blade's tip) Luxu: The Gazing Eye? Master of Masters: Uh... That's not what it's called. Luxu: Oh, what then? Master of Masters: Hm. Actually, no name. Luxu: No Name... Master of Masters: Well, "gazing" or not, that Keyblade does have an eye in it. My eye, to be exact. Luxu: Ew! Master of Masters: Oh, you think that's "gross," do ya? Luxu: N-no! Master of Masters: Yeah, sure. Anyway, about your role. You need to pass down that Keyblade to your apprentice, and then him to his, so that my eye can see the future. Luxu: So the Book of Prophecies... (The Master points at Luxu, catching him off guard) Master of Masters: Bingo! The fact that it exists is proof of your success! That means you've trained a worthy apprentice, passed down that handsome Keyblade, and fulfilled your role! (clapping) Congratulations! (Luxu is silent) Master of Masters: What's the matter? Come on, you did a fantastic job! At least smile a little! Luxu: But I haven't done anything yet... Master of Masters: Good point. Guess you better get started then! Unfortunately, you'll have to go alone from here on out. No Book of Prophecies to keep you company, either. I can't have you causing any temporal paradoxes. But, hey, we both know you'll do just fine without it, right? Luxu: Do I really have to go alone? What about the others? Master of Masters: (chuckling) Minor details, so don't sweat it. For now, you, that Keyblade, and...this box need to stay out of sight. (The Master pulls out a large black box from the side of his desk. Luxu dismisses No Name and helps him drag it across the floor) Master of Masters: Just watch with your own eyes--and my eye, of course--as things unfold between the others. Then when the time is right, go off and do your thing. Luxu: What's in it? Master of Masters: It's a secret. And, well, you see... (giggling) the thing is... (sounding serious) you can never, ever open it. Luxu: Great, now I really wanna know. Master of Masters: Ah, all right. I'll indulge you. But this secret stays between the two of us, and you have to promise never to open the box. Luxu: I promise. (The Master whispers in Luxu's ear. Luxu gasps) Luxu: But why? Master of Masters: (in a sinister voice, clenching his fist) You'll see. (Some time later, Luxu stands in the middle of a vast desert, clutching No Name and the black box at his side. He glances at his Keyblade and looks toward the sky, placing his hand on his chest) Luxu: May my heart be my guiding key. "Reconnect."
