| This FAQ/Guide is made to help you out with the Mad Scientist trophy for NI |
|no kuni. Mad scientist is probably (or should be) the last trophy you will |
|get before your platinum and i hope this help you organize and speed up the |
|proccess of obtaining it. |
|At first this may look time consuming and useless but trust me, in the end |
|you will save a lot of hours by organizing what you need and when to get it. |

|The mad scientisi trophy [00.02] |
|_____________________________________________________________________________|
| The trophy pops-up when you have made 120 different items (with or without |
|the recipes for them), if you take into account that there are 134 items to |
|make it´s not that hard at all because you can left 14 items out and still |
|get the trophy. The problem here is that there are only 118 "easy" recipes, |
|the other 16 items are all made with rare ingredients that must be obtained |
|for golden enemies (post game only) and will be a real pain to get. |

| I highly recommend you to leave this for when you are pretty much done with |
|the game, as a lot of ingredients are given as prizes for completing quests, |
|this is specially important for the troll´s tears because by finishing quests|
|you can get 5 of them, completely avoiding the need to steal them later, and |
|skipping a few hours of farming are always welcome. |

|Q1.- ¿What happens if i make an item but i don´t have the recipe?¿Does it |
|still count for the trophy? |
|A1.- Yes it does, the items you make manually are counted as well. |
|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
|Q2.- ¿How can i know if i have already made an item? |
|A2.- If you have the recipe you can look in the lower section of the Alchemy |
|screen, if the Square button option (show ingredients location) its available|
|that means you have made at least one of those. If you dont have the recipe |
|then there is no way of knowing, so remember to keep track if you dont have |
|all the recipes. |

|Q3.- ¿Is there a way to make multiple items of the same type (in one go) if i|
|don´t have the recipe? |
|A3.- No, you can only make multiple items if you have the recipe, while using|
| 2 iced coffees + Spring water gives you a strong coffee if you dont have the|
| recipe and use 4 iced coffees + 2 spring waters you will have a failure. |

|A.- Unfortunatelly even if you succesfully create an item it doesn´t mean it |
|will start appearing in your known recipes, its a shame but deal with it... |

|About the recipes, if you are not a completionist and you don´t care about |
|having all the recipes in your alchemy menu then you will need to print the |
|list so you have the recipe and keep track of every recipe you have already |
|done, by taking this route you will need to make some items manually with mix|
|and match. |

|Recipe 134 (Sky Tree Wand) its automatically done while finishing the last |
|Horace quest and doesn´t use any other ingredient so you can go ahead and |
|check it already if you have it, if no the go get it right now. |

|The same goes for recipes 052 (Candle Cutter) and 064 (Royal Spear) that are |
|made trough quests 076 (The Young Alchemist) and 077 (The Forest Alchemists) |
|respectively so you can go and check them already, if by mistake you haven´t |
|done them yet, just add the materials to the ingredient list in the section |
|below so you get some extra ingredient when you visit the corresponding area.|

|For the candle cutter you will need to steal and extra ember stone and buy a |
|flint dagger while the royal spear will need 2 Jade Marble, 2 Raw Steel and |
|2 Shadowglass so be sure to add them to your forage routine. |

|the recipes before finishing quest 078 that gives you the recipes for the |
|final equipment in the game. |

| The first thing you need to pay atention to are the Forage items, if you |
|neglected them during the main story now it´s time to put some work into it, |
|there are some items that may prove to be specially time consuming to get so |
|a little planning ahead is needed if you dont want to spend some extra hours |
|only in flying around the world waiting for the forages to respawn. |
| |
|The basic idea is to forage between steal/drops farming, so we start by doing|
|a forage run and then go into X location to steal everything we need, when |
|done with the stealing you go back to the world map and make another forage |
|run. |
|This way we work in the both lists at the same time so when you get you last |
|steal you will have all the foraging items already and you will have it all. |
|If you leave forage for the last then you are going to spend some time |
| watching TV while the foraging spots respawn. |

|Forage item location [02.02] |

| The first step is to know what are you lacking in forage items, there are |
|some like meteorite fragments that while listed as forage are not needed to |
|pay attention to because you will get plenty while stealing for other things,|
|but in the other hand you have some items that are not found on the places we|
|will be so its really important that you forage them regularly, below is a |
|list of what items you should pay attention to and start foraging right now |
|and the other items you can get later. |
|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
|Items you "must" forage ASAP. |
| |
|-Shadow Glass: We need 9 of these, you can get them by using your travel |
|spell to Hamelin city, east of town there is a hotspot, then use travel |
|again to the temple of trials, behind the temple there is another hot spot. |
| |
|-Rumblenuts: While its possible to find some rumblenuts for rare drops during|
|our farming session i highly reccommend to not count on it, rumble nut is one|
|of those items you must Forage efficiently or you will end up needing more to|
|get the 9 we need in the end, these are located in south og Ghostly Gorge and|
| in Turtle Crag. |
| |
|-Glowcap: As with ritestone there is a low possibility of obtaining some glow|
|caps during our stealing sessions but its so low that we can´t count on that.|
|We need 12 of these so it´s better to start foraging them from the start or |
|you will end up short in the end. |
|You can find these right outside the Golden Grove exit, to the west there´s a|
|cliff with a hotspot in top of it, there is another one you can find walking |
|south of the temple of trials. |
| |
|-Wetstone: This is an easy one, we only need 5 so you will get them in 2 runs|
|first travel to teeheeti, there is one in the river south of the city, then |
|travel to cast away cove, the other spot is a little north-west of the city. |
|with that you will already hace 2-4 repeat once more and you are done. |
| |
|-Angula: There is a chance to get some Angulas while stealing but we need 6 |
|and the chances of that are very low so it´s better to play it safe and get |
|them asap while going to the Ugly duckling island (Tokos) and there´s another|
|one in the north-east top side of the land area in the Shipwreck Shore. |
| |
|-Booster Shoots, Plainswort: We need 8 and 5 respectively, these are easily |
|obtained with a regular travel to Rolling Hills (the ding dong dell area) |
| |
|-Fogdrop: You can find some fogdrops above a cliff that is a little to the |
|south of dark deep wood in the rolling hills area, you can also find another |
|spot to the south-east of the skull mountain, it´s in the other side of the |
|mountain you need to get flying to that area. You will need 7 of these. |
| |
|-Springwater: Even while we need 9 of these is probably one of the easy ones,|
|just travel to ding dong dell and to the east there is a spring water hot |
|spot, after that use tengry to travel a little north west of there and in a |
|mini lake beside a hill you will find another one, then use travel spell to |
|Al Mamoon and take the one east of the city in the pond, and that´s it you |
|already have 3-6, repeat once or twice and you are done. |
| |
|-Baneflower: We need 6 of these, you can get them in a short trip to Smoky |
|just outside of the volcano there is a hotspot. |
| |
|-Sturdy Shinbone: We only need 6 of them and you probably have some already, |
|in any case if you need more you can just forage them from Shimmering Sands |
|West and South of Tomb Stone Trail, 2-3 trips should be enough. |
| |
|-Drill Screw: We need 10 of these and they are not found on enemies we will |
|be fighting so it´s important that you are really productive with the forage |
|of this particular item, you will need near to 7 trips if you start in 0 so |
|don´t forget to do forage it often. |
| |
|-Gnomebeard: We need 10 of these and there are two forage spot really easy to|
|get them from, the first one is just south of the Fairy Grounds in Teeheeti, |
|the other one is located south of Shipwreck Shore. |
| |
|-Slumbernot leaves: We need 7 of these and they are quickly and painlessly |
|obtained with a travel spell to cast away cove and a little fly from tengry |
|to the north east, there is another spot above a cliff in the southernmost |
|zone of the Hamelin island, it is a little to the west. |
| |
|-Rings-a-Bell: OK, this is one need some attention and planification, we need|
|18!! of these so we will need to be very constant with this because we need a|
|lo of trips to get them all, first go a little west of cast away cove to find|
| the first hot spot, then go to bow shaped cliff to the West of Teeheeti |
|(this one has a really slow respawn rate) then in the rolling hills we can |
|get some more from the area that is at the north of the dark deep wood (you |
|need to fly there) and then a little south west of there in the area you need|
|to use the bridge spell to get to, in the northern area you can find another |
|spot. |
| |
|Raw Steel: We need 9 and there are 2 foraging spots close to each other so |
|you just need to go to tombstone trail and fly a really little distance to |
|the south-east to find the spot, now fly to hamelin that is just there and |
|now fly south and a little to the east to find the other point outside a mine|
| |
|Jade Marble: We need 11 of these, the first spot is in the cliffs besides the|
|temple of trials, another one is to the south east of skull mountain in the |
|area that you can´t reach if you don´t fly, finally you can find one west of |
|ding dong dell above a cliff in the area you must access with the bridge |
|spell. |
| |
|Tealwood: We can get some of these from our farming sessions but it´s not |
|going to be enough, it´s better to play it safe will tealwood and forage it |
|when you can, there are two spots located in Winter Wonderlands one is to the|
|south-west of the Yule and the other one is south-east of glittering grotto. |
| |
|Snowflake: We need 4 of them, we have two hotspots on Winter Wonderlands, the|
|first one is located south of Yule above a cliff, the other one is directly |
|west of Yule and south of the hidden forest glade of that area. |
| |

|Items you should forage "later" |
| |
|-Sun Crystal, Star Crystal, Moon Crystal, Planet Crystal: While these are |
|easy to forage it´s not neccessary to do so because you will have at least |
|ten of each after all the stealing, and we only need 3 of them so dont waste |
|your time with these, if you need them badly you can find them in Billy |
|Goat´s Bluff (North) but dont waste you time... |

|-Powerstone, Sour Grapes: We will need a lot of powerstone (13) but its not a|
|problem to get them as we will spend some hours in Billy Goat's Bluff South |
|while stealing for some other items so it´s better to leave these for later |
|because if you don´t get the 13 and the 3 Sour grapes easily while farming |
|you will need no more than 2-3 travel spells to perdida to get them, leave |
|these for later. |
| |
|-Old Oak Leaves, Ritestone: You need 6 and 8 respectively and you will likely|
|get them in our Nazcaa steling session so dont bother foraging these before |
|that, if you have some left after you are done in the area remember to go |
|back later to get the remaining ones. |
| |
|-Blizzard Bloom: You can steal them easily for Auroralynx when we farm in |
|Billy goat´s south, if after that you still don´t have the 7 we need then you|
|can get them in the islands south-east and south-west of Winter Wonderlands. |
| |
|Bass Bell: We need 10 but dont worry to much about this one, yo will easily |
|get 10 just by random stealing during our ingredient trip, if not you can get|
|the ones you are missing from a cliff to the far north of Al Mamoon. |
| |
|Meteorite fragment: We need 12 you will end up with at least 20 so dont worry|
|about foraging this at all, if you need to get some more you can forage them |
|from the Hermit's Shell that´s the little island south west of Nazcaa (Tengry|
|can land now that the fog is gone). |
| |
|Cold Stone: Leave this for later, you probably will have enough from stealing|
|but if you have some left then you can forage them from Winter wonderlands |
|North beside a cliff just south of Glittering Grotto. |

|Some tips for stealing/drop hunt [02.03] |
|_____________________________________________________________________________|
| |
|-Speed and momentum are everything when farming, try to use AOE to one hit |
|kill as often as possible to quickly end fights, that means more fights in |
|less time and more chances to get what we need, i personally used a full ATK |
|build dinoceros with ear splitter that for 20~ MP ended every battle and get |
|some MP orbs to recover, don´t be afraid to use your MP items, going back to |
|save points it´s time wasted and money is pretty much infinite in this game, |
|use it. |
| |
|-Fight everything, don´t wait for the enemies you are waiting for to show up |
|on the map, they are usually paired with another enemies and you are wasting |
|time you should be using on stealing, if there´s nothing good on the fight |
|run or AOE to kill everything and keep fighting, this is specially useful for|
|gold enemies as you will easily fight 5 in randon battles for every one you |
|see on the map/dungeon. |
| |
|-For rare steals use Oliver with the weakest Magic attack wand and spam the |
|Impact spell on every enemy, every time you hit an enemy with that spell you |
|will get a nice giving you a green/blue/gold sphere, if you get a gold glim |
|quickly use all out defense and change to swaine, Swaine´s miracle move 100% |
|steal the rare item of the target, this is great!! Equip swaine with two |
|Movement Speed UP accesories. |
|If the enemies don´t throw the Gold glim you need then steal normaly and hope|
|for a rare, don´t waste time defending for a Gold glim, it´s a lot faster to |
|start another fight. You can do the same trick with Thundestorm but the bad |
|guys will die faster so it´s not a good idea... |
| |
|-Keep veil all the time, money is there to be wasted on MP items, use it. |
|The advantage of veil is that you can always get a preemtive strike, this way|
|you can take a look at the battle and run away if there´s nothing worth of |
|fighting in the enemies formation you encounter. |
|If an enemy saw you and you are not using veil, when it start running away |
|from you quickly open the menu and close it and he will start running in |
|another random direction, also you can use veil and they won´t be able to |
|move for several seconds after you cast, making it really easy to catch them |
|(you will also get the preemtive). |

|Well you now know your forage routine and you should start by doing it just |
|that, take 5 minutes and get everything before we do any other thing, it´s |
|important to keep track of what you get so in your next forage tours you know|
|wich places you can start skipping when done. |
| |
|The Following section has 3 main categories: |
| |
|Mandatory items: You can´t leave the area until you have every items we need |
|of that particulat type, there is a (number) format that quickly remembers |
|you how many we need, of course if you have already made some items you can |
|add the ingredients you used to your item count because the number takes for |
|granted that you have never used any recipe before except the ones mentioned |
|in the previous section. |
|In short, if you have made a strong coffe, you can add one spring water to |
|the count or take one from the items needed leaving it at 8 instead of 9. |
| |
|Recommended items: These are items you should get if you find a certain enemy|
|but it´s not needed to do right now, overall if you get into a fight with a |
|recomended steal it´s better to try a lucky steal and reduce the items needed|
|for later but if you don´t get them now there will be another chance later. |
| |
|Whatever Items: This category is for minor items that you probably have |
|already or will end having during our trip, if you see you are lacking some |
|then try a lucky shot. Overall they are listed so you know they are there |
|it´s completely OK to skip them as you probably will end up having them |
|without trying. |

|About the place: We need to get 4 rare steals from here, even when we really |
|need 5 kaleidostone you will get 2 by just finishinf quest 69, so you need 3 |
|rare steals, be carefull not to waste your time in the other dragons, you are|
|looking for Bedraggles, use and abuse the gold glim + swaine tactic. |
|For the dragon´s tooth ring we need two, but you get one from a green chest |
|on Bungler's Bay (in a small island full of trees) there´s a forest glade and|
|inside it lies the green chest, the other one you can get from Sasquish here,|
|you dont need to use the Gold glim trick here as you will see A LOT of |
|sasquish to take it just by plain luck. |

|Fuddy-Daddy Trick, This enemy only spawns on the northern area of Nazcaa, |
|there is a river and behind it there´s a forest, this forest is where his |
|spawn point and there is no other battle where you will fight him so there is|
|a little trick to abuse in order to get the Bubble pipes faster, if you use |
|the portal spell and then use it again on Motorville you will be back right |
|where you left but the enemies in the area will have changed/respawned, look |
|for a Fuddy!!! if it´s not there use portal again until you find one, it |
|shouldn´t take you so long to get the 16 we need. |
| |
|The seeds of discord are rare steal items only so remember to use the Impact |
|tactic for Golden glims+ swaine = 100% rare steal. |

you have left and be ready to do a quick travel spell around towns to buy what
we need, dont even bother looking what you have just buy what i say and move

some ingredients to make it/them you need: Old Oak Leaves + Booster Shoots
+ Plainswort Flower for each all-be-gone, remember to get them and dont use
